ITINERARY BY DAY

SAIGON BY U.S ARMY JEEP TOUR HALF-DAY

At 8:00am (or 1:30pm) Jeep pick you up at hotel and begin the city tour.

First stop on your tour Jeep will take you go to visit the Independence Palace/ the Reunification Palace. The palace is symbolic of the end of the Vietnam War during the Fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975, when the North Vietnamese Army tank number 843 crashed through the gates of what was at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.

Next, you will see Notre Dame Cathedral and the Old Post Office are the two of the best highlights of old Saigon architecture, and are located next to each other and right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.

Following by, Jeep will drive you along some famous roads in Saigon as Dong Khoi street, Nguyen Hue street passing by Former U.S Embassy, Opera House, City Hall. Then, go ahead to visit to Ben Thanh Market, a lively market in District 1, where your guide can help you bargain for goods.

Lastly, War Remnants Museum was originally opened in September 1975, it displays old military equipment and other related items from the Vietnam War.  In the courtyard we will find some larger exhibits including a F5A fighter and a UH1-Huey helicopter

Around 12:00pm (or 5:30pm) Jeep will take you back to hotel by jeep, finish the tour.

1st Stop The Reunification Palace

The Jeep will takes you to The Reunification Palace, also known as Independence Palace, is listed as a historical monument by witnessing great changes of Ho Chi Minh City’s history (formerly known Saigon) and having in itself the essence of Eastern culture. 2nd Stop Central Post Office

Saigon Central Post Office was also built in the 1880s based on the design of Gustave Eiffel – a famous French architect.

3rd Stop Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral

Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon is a cathedral located in the downtown of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Established by French colonists who initially named it Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Saïgon, the cathedral was constructed between 1863 and 1880. It has two bell towers, reaching a height of 58 meters (190 feet).

4th Stop Saigon Opera House

The Saigon Opera House was custom built in 1897 by the French architect Eugene Ferret. It is one of the top venues in Vietnam to listen to opera and classical music.

Pass by Dong Khoi Street

Dong Khoi is known as a million-dollar street or where land is more expensive than gold. There are houses for sale up to VND 1.5 billion per sqm, setting a new record high in Vietnam.

Being the biggest road of Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Hue Walking Street spans 670 meters from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee edifice to Bach Dang Wharf, respectively, and measures 64 meters in width. What’s different about this compared to any streets in the area is that it is installed with automatically-operated mist-emitting systems and lined with over 200 trees and 122 large tubs of flowering creepers. That creates a greenish landscape for the whole street and eases your mind whenever you come there.

Saigon Jeep Tour Itinerary

08:00 AM: Our tour guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and start the  Ho Chi Minh City Jeep Tour  with Vietnam Shore Excursions.

Our first stop of Ho Chi Minh City Jeep Tour is the  Reunification Hall,  also known as Independence Palace, is listed as a historical monument by witnessing great changes of Ho Chi Minh City’s history (formerly known as Saigon) and having in itself the essence of Eastern culture. Throughout the heroic battles, this amazing work of architecture had witnessed almost every high and low of the Vietnamese war.

Continuing the  Ho Chi Minh City Jeep Tour,  we will visit the  War Remnants Museum  which was formerly known as the Museum of Chinese and American War Crimes, primarily deals with the American War, but the French-colonial period and conflicts with China are also documented. US armoured vehicles, artillery pieces, bombs and infantry weapons are on display outside. One corner of the grounds is devoted to the notorious French and South Vietnamese prisons on Phu Quoc and Con Son islands. Artefacts include that most iconic of French appliances, the guillotine, and the notoriously inhumane ‘tiger cages’ used to house war prisoners.

We will end the Ho Chi Minh City Jeep Tour by visiting and going shopping at Ben Thanh Market , one of the oldest markets in Ho Chi Minh City. It had appeared before the French invaded Saigon (former name of Ho Chi Minh City), built at the beginning of the 17th century for small traders to exchange their goods on Ben Nghe River’s bank, next to a harbor near Gia Dinh Citadel.

Ben Thanh Market is one of the busiest local markets in Ho Chi Minh City that you should visit to enjoy famous Vietnamese foods and shop for lovely souvenirs. You will be definitely amazed by plenty of colorful kiosks where they sell foods, gifts, clothes and thousands of other items here.

Former U.S. Embassy

Although originally designed in early 1965 by the firm Curtis and Davis, their design had only called for three stories and due to the increased U.S. commitment in Vietnam, a larger building was needed. As such in November 1965 the firm Adrian Wilson and Associates were selected to redesign the building. The new design originally called for four stories but was then raised to six, and was built between 1965 and 1967 by the American construction company RMK-BRJ under the direction of the U.S. Navy Officer in Charge of Construction RVN.

RMK-BRJ employed a workforce of 500 Vietnamese, primarily using materials from the U.S. due to the scarcity of commodities in South Vietnam at the time. Despite that the sand and gravel used in the concrete mix, along with the walkway tiles, and the bricks used in all the interior walls were sourced from Vietnam. The embassy was opened on September 29, 1967, after more than two years of construction and cost a total of 2.6 million dollar.

Dong Khoi Street

• If you cancel the trip  39 – 30 days before  the arrival, you will  lose 10%  of the full payment.
• If you cancel the trip  29 – 15 days before  the arrival, you will  lose 30%  of the full payment.
• If you cancel the trip  14 – 7 days before  the arrival, you will  lose 50%  of the full payment.
• If you cancel the trip  6 – 2 days before  the arrival, you will  lose 75%  of the full payment.
• If you cancel less than  2 days , you will  lose 100%  of the full payment.
