Fleetwood Mac Detail MIRAGE TOUR '82 Live Album

MIRAGE TOUR '82

Live recordings from Fleetwood Mac’s two sold-out shows at The Forum in 1982 during the Mirage Tour will be featured in a new collection from Rhino.

Mirage Tour ‘82 will be available from Rhino.com on September 20 in 3LP, 2CD, and digital configurations. Pre-order HERE . On the same day, a special crystal-clear vinyl edition will be available exclusively at Amazon.

This 22-track live collection features six previously unreleased recordings from the October 21, 1982 show, including favorites like “Landslide,” “Don’t Stop,” and “Never Going Back Again.” The other songs were recorded at the October 22 show and have appeared on various releases through the years, including Live Super Deluxe Edition (2021), Mirage Super Deluxe Edition (2016) and the 1983 concert video Mirage Live .

In September 1982, Fleetwood Mac embarked on a 31-city U.S. tour in support of Mirage , the band’s fourth consecutive multi-platinum album and third No. 1 in America. Both shows at The Forum were recorded, and Mirage Tour ‘82 combines songs from both into a single concert experience.

Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks were at the height of their collective power at these shows, delivering a hyper-charged setlist filled with hits new and old. Standouts include “Songbird,” “Oh Well,” “Love In Store,” “Go Your Own Way,” and a version of “Landside” for the ages.

In the set’s liner notes, music journalist and songwriter Bill DeMain calls the collection “a riveting listen” and a reminder of a time when rock shows “were platforms to expand and reinvent songs for the stage, to let them breathe, to unleash different, wilder sides of a band.”

Listen to the previously unreleased live version of "Don't Stop" from Mirage Tour ‘82 HERE .

Kelis Is Loving Life, and Creating New Music: 'The Record Is Almost Done'

Mirage Tour ’82 features 22 tracks, including six previously unreleased recordings from the Oct. 21, 1982 concert.

Trending on Billboard

“In September 1982, Fleetwood Mac embarked on a 31-city U.S. tour in support of  Mirage , the band’s fourth consecutive multiplatinum album and third No. 1 in America. Both shows at The Forum were recorded, and Mirage Tour ’82 combines songs from both into a single concert experience,” reads a statement for the album’s release.

The collection, available on Sept. 20, will come in 3xLP vinyl, 2xCD, and digital formats.

The release follows last year’s Rumours: Live , which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart dated September 23, 2023. This marked Fleetwood Mac’s highest chart debut since their studio album Say You Will opened at No. 2 in May 2003. Rumours: Live featured recordings from the band’s Aug. 29, 1977, concert at The Forum during their Rumours Tour.

Despite the legendary group’s latest release, which follows the loss of Christine McVie in 2022 , the prospects of a full band reunion are slim. Mick Fleetwood has described the idea as “unthinkable,” while Stevie Nicks has stated there’s “no reason” for the group to tour again.

Nicks, however, shows no signs of slowing down the touring life as she continues to rock stages worldwide as a solo artist . She currently has upcoming shows in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Hershey, Pennsylvania this September.

Christine McVie’s Fleetwood Mac Treasures to Be Featured in Museum Exhibition & Charity Auction

Fleetwood Mac fans will soon have the chance to peruse Christine McVie’s treasures in a museum exhibition honoring the late legend — and if they like what they see, they may be able to take something home in an auction later on.

As announced exclusively by Billboard Thursday (Aug. 29), highlights of McVie’s personal collection will become available for people to see up close at the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville starting Friday (Aug. 30) and running through Tuesday, Oct. 15. The day after the exhibition concludes, a two-day auction dubbed “Property From the Life and Career of Christine McVie” will take place at the same venue and online via Julien’s Auctions , marking the first time the items have been offered to the public.

More than 650 of the “Songbird” singer’s belongings will be available to bid on in the auction, including the Hammond XK-5 organ she played on tour with Fleetwood Mac (pictured above; estimated $6,000-$8,000), a Yamaha CLP-470PE digital piano from her London home ($3,000 – $5,000), a model KP-180-122 Leslie speaker in a red road case labeled “3rd Encore Christine’s Locker ($2,000 – $4,000), Tusk chord sheets with unknown handwritten lyrics ($800-$1,200) and two setlists annotated by McVie ($600-$800). Pieces of fine art and jewelry will also be for sale.

The proceeds of the auction will benefit MusiCares as well as other charities in the U.K. “Christine McVie was a legendary artist and a beloved member of the MusiCares family, always showing deep compassion for those in the music community,” said the organization’s executive director, Laura Segura, in a statement. “The proceeds from this auction will continue her legacy of giving back, ensuring that musicians receive the support they need. Her love for music and for those who create it will continue to inspire us all.”

Julien’s Auctions CEO David Goodman added, “As one of the musical greats of her generation and of all time, the world loved Christine McVie for her perfect voice, her beautiful songs, and her brilliance that she produced throughout her extraordinary life and musical career that Julien’s is honored to represent in this exclusive auction celebration.”

McVie died in November 2022 at the age of 79. A few months later, her cause of death was revealed to be a stroke.

At the time, Fleetwood Mac shared a band statement. “She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure,” wrote the group, which also consisted of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. “She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her.”

In October, Nicks said that the band likely wouldn’t continue performing in the absence of McVie. “You can’t replace her,” she told Vulture . “You just can’t. Without her, what is it? You know what I mean?”

“She was like my soul mate, my musical soul mate, and my best friend that I spent more time with than any of my other best friends outside of Fleetwood Mac,” she added at the time. “Christine was my best friend … Who am I going to look over to on the right and have them not be there behind that Hammond organ? When she died, I figured we really can’t go any further with this. There’s no reason to.”

Google rolls out safeguards for more of its AI products ahead of the US presidential election

Google is gearing up for the upcoming U.S. presidential election by rolling out safeguards for more of its generative AI products. Although the company already previously announced that it would restrict Gemini queries related to the election, it's now applying additional restrictions to its other generative AI products. Given that generative AI is a relatively newer technology, Google acknowledges that it's prone to making mistakes, which is why it's restricting the features to prevent misinformation around the election.
