Map for the Peru & Machu Picchu Adventure tour

Board your flight, and arrive in Lima late tonight. After you get through customs, your Tour Director will be there to take you to the hotel.

Today, a local guide will lead you on a tour of both the modern and colonial quarters of Lima. Lima was once the center of “the New World,” and is now a bustling metropolis. The city is home to many of South America’s best museums, swankiest shops and tastiest restaurants. You’ll see the city’s cathedral, Plaza de Armas and Church of San Francisco, which houses a museum of religious art and some creepy 16th-century catacombs.

In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner of local cuisine and drinks with fellow travelers at an authentic local spot. Afterwards, you’re free to take the party elsewhere!

Wake up and head to Lima’s airport for a flight to Cuzco, the center of Incan culture and a beautiful Spanish colonial city. The entire city is located about 11,200 feet above sea level, and boasts some amazing local food and shopping. This afternoon, check in at your hotel and do some exploring on your own.

On today’s guided sightseeing tour, you’ll stop by the old Spanish cathedral, La Merced Church, and the extravagant Koricancha Temple, which was once fully covered in gold and serves as a testament to the wealth and power of the Incas. Later, venture off to three separate Incan archaeological sites, including the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the location of a historic battle that forever changed Peruvian life. The Spanish defeated the Incas here in 1536.

A local guide leads you on a full-day sightseeing tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, nestled between Cuzco, Machu Picchu and the surrounding Andes Mountains. The valley is rich in ruins and traditional, native villages, and is in some ways even more historically important than Machu Picchu. You’ll see the famous ruins of Ollantaytambo, and visit several local market towns, including Pisac.

After your tour, you'll head to your accommodation in Ollantaytambo, home to massive Inca ruins, and a common starting point for travelers to Macchu Pichu.

Enjoy an included dinner on this night with your group!

Today, take a train ride through the lush valleys that lead to Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas.” You will be staying the night at the foot of the mountain in the town of Aguas Calientes. Machu Picchu is completely hidden from the valley floor and is truly one of the world’s most incredible sights. Cross a big one off your bucket list. Explore the perfect stonework of the Temple of the Sun, the fountains of the Royal Sector, and the views from the Temple of the Three Windows.

This afternoon, take a train ride back to Cuzco.

Return for a second visit if you can’t get enough Machu Picchu (we don’t blame you). Beat the crowds bright and early, and enjoy the quiet, unobstructed beauty of the ruins from the top of Huchuy Picchu. This excursion is  pre-book  only; if your trip is less than sixty days away, please call 800-766-2645 to purchase.

Spend a free day in Cuzco exploring on your own, or join the group for an optional excursion to taste some local Pisco.

Farewell Dinner Say your goodbyes over one last dinner with your group.

Pisco Sour Workshop (extra cost)

Your new fav drink, pisco, is a Peruvian brandy made from wine or fruit juice. Learn how this magical elixir is made, sample three different styles, and try making your own cocktail. Wrap things up by sampling snacks and tapas. Why wait? Save money by booking this optional excursion before your trip departs.

Head back to Lima for the afternoon, then board your flight home.

Arrive home in the late morning or afternoon from your overnight flight.

Machu Picchu, Cusco & Lima with EF (Educational) Tours

Lima (by the ocean), Cusco (at 11K feet) and Machu Picchu (the best at 7-8k feet) was one of the best places I've been. Certainly worth seeing Machu Picchu but might be best with another tour company. The tour company was rated 1 star but I bumped up to two stars since they helped the teachers on a 1:8 ratio (every 8 students paid about $400 ea for 1 bi-lingual teacher-a working vacation for them). The accommodations (hostels) and food (everyone-same chicken, veggies, fries) were basic (figured the kids wouldn't notice) but you paid premium prices, $3.7k for me & $3.4k for my 16 year old. There was 25 total which made it a bit hard to hear the tour guide and coordinate activities (but maximized EF Tours profit margin) the Spain trip was 42 kids... Caravan on the other hand (went to Costa Rica & Panama) was excellent, full amenities 5-star hotels & meal varieties. Caravan provided bottled water, EF Tours did not (can't drink the H2o in Peru - comes from the rivers, no sewage treatment plants, electrical/plumbing/health regulations). Got by on Spanglish but knowing Spanish is best. Enjoy 5-10 miles daily walking, be in good shape to enjoy. Outlets are 220vac, 50hertz but use standard US 120 plugs (hair dryers go poof), electronics 85-264vac universal supplies (I-phone, I whatevers OK).

My spouse and I took the 2 Days / 1 Night tour to Machu Picchu and the experience was really remarkable! We really felt comfortable as well as in professional hands. It was an impressive trip and also cannot say enough good comments about our guide Fernando. He was very professional with a lot of experience, polite and also rapidly adapted to our pace and interests on our trip. We had a very good time and sure we can suggest Peru Adventure Tours to anyone who wants to visit Machu Picchu.

If you are looking the best options for travelling Machu Picchu, congratulations you have found one of the most talented guides. Fernando was amazing at telling us what we needed to know to have a great day during our visit; also he guided us along the whole Inca citadel. All in all our experience was fantastic, the landscape was inspiring, we had a first class treat and to end it up, we were lucky enough to have a luxury train back to Cusco, with a Peruvian dance show and a fine dinner. Thank you so much Alice. I would highly recommend this travel company in Peru.
