Onboard Features

The Grand Plaza

The Grand Plaza is a transformational place that offers a different experience every time you visit. From day to night, the lighting changes from warm and inviting to bright and dramatic.

The Solarium

On the Resort Deck, you’ll find the adults-only Solarium. Celebrity Ascent continues the tradition of offering this glass dome-covered pool area where adults can unwind in luxurious style. The Solarium features a pool and hot tubs for liquid relaxation. Grab a light bite for breakfast or lunch at The Spa Café and Juice Bar or order your favorite beverage or cocktail.

The sheer size of Eden will amaze you. In fact, Eden has more outward-facing glass than any other venue at sea, so here you’ll feel more connected to the sea—and the stunning destinations beyond. With Eden Café, Eden restaurant, and Eden Bar, three levels of cozy nooks, lounge seating, and lively entertainment, no matter what time of day or night you visit Eden, it will leave you intrigued and wanting more.

The Magic Carpet

The Magic Carpet® is a cantilevered, floating platform that reaches heights of 13 stories above sea level. Majestically situated on the starboard side of the ship, it makes Celebrity Ascent’s sleek profile recognizable from miles away. Enjoy comfortable seating, a full bar, and space for live music performances.

This Vegas-style casino rivals the biggest and best land-based casinos. With a variety of games in a smoke-free environment.

Whether you’re joining the excitement of the daily activities that take place here or popping in at night for the cutting-edge entertainment experiences, The Club offers hours of entertainment—with a completely new look.

The Destination Gateway

A multi-purpose area that brings our destinations to life. When not in use as a luxury embarkation station, the space is transformed into an intimate setting for programming centered on shore excursions and more.

AAA Verified Reviews for "Queen Victoria" ship ( 2 )

12 Night Norway and Northern Lights Cruise

12 Nights - Queen Victoria - Departed from Southampton

The reservations process was great. When American Airlines changed our flights, the agent was awesome to work with them to tweak the times because the new connection time was too tight for our family. The transfers to get to the ship and back were seamless. Great flights, the shuttle service was on time and accommodating both directions. The ship onboard and offboard process was seamless and easy. We were pleasantly surprised to find flower, candy and champagne waiting in our stateroom. Our niece/travel agent is a gem. The cabin steward and purser staff were very helpful and friendly. The wait staff in the Brittania were subpar compared to other cruise ships. They learned our normal drink order habits but didn't learn our names or act at all friendly. They were very robotic. I think perhaps each waiter had too many tables. The food wasn't very good. Maybe I'm not used to British tastes. But to me it was very bland. They selection wasn't as varied as I've had on other cruises. -The Brittania formal dining was nice and had selections that sounded nice like Beef Wellington, Lamb, Steak, etc. They were ok but not the fabulous food you expect. Even seasoned travelers on "The Queens" said the quality of the food had diminished from previous years. -The Lido buffet general consisted of leftover selections from the night before. You had 2 choices, the buffet line of hot food and salads or the pizza/pasta station. We were amazed that there were long periods of time that the Lido had zero food available. This was especially a problem when you got back from a shore excursion and needed a late lunch. If you missed the window, you had to wait for Tea time food or wait for dinner. No food at all in the gaps. -The Golden Lion had good burgers and fish and chips. It should be larger because people really craved this type food vs the Lido or Brittania dining. -High Tea (extra cost or a certificate) was good and greatly enjoyed. Shipboard activities were geared towards a very gentrified and older crowd. There were many art lectures, history lectures about British subjects, etc. I really expected more lectures about Norway/Vikings/etc. The only one was the intro for each city and what tours were offered. There were also Bingo/Trivia/Bridge games. The one that I did enjoy was a watercolor class on each sea day. The evening entertainment in the theater was low budget singers and dancers. There was one juggler/comedian who was funny and one old guy comedian who told REALLY old jokes. I wish the ship had a covered/heated pool but alas it was outdoors and closed for obvious reasons. The stops in Norway were great. We saw the Northern Lights which the crew would announce if they became visible from the ship. We really liked the Polar Park excursion in Narvik. We were sad that were diverted from Haugesund to Stavanger due to high seas. We missed out on the Viking Village excursion due to the change. (Cunard promptly refunded our payment for the Haugesund excursion) I know, you can't stop the weather. We went to Stavanger instead which has a great history. Cunard quickly posted an alternate set of tours to choose from. Luckily, we booked the Leisure bus tour with waffles and coffee as it was really cold and rainy the day we were there. I didn't fully understand to go ahead and book Tea and Lido alternate dining without the vouchers in hand. Because I waited until we were onboard, we weren't able to do the Lido Alternate dining (Which was the only place they served Norwegian food). We did book the High Tea with Champagne. The AAA bonus stated this was free. We only got 2 vouchers although there were 3 in the cabin so we paid for our daughter to attend. There were only 2 vouchers for the Lido alternate dining also.

Moscow : Welcome on board! Check in begins at 14:00 (2.00 PM), but you may board earlier or later depending on you arrival in Moscow. If you order a transfer, you will be met at the airport or train station by one of our drivers and taken by comfortable car to the river port where you will board your cruise ship (transfer is optional).

Over the next few days, you will get the chance to explore Moscow and learn about its riveting history. You will be taken on a city tour and see Moscow's most interesting sights and learn about this amazing city's past and present. You will also have a chance to do some light shopping and there will be time to relax aboard the ship in the evenings. One of the highlights of your time in Moscow is a visit to  Red Square  and the  Kremlin . You will also visit one of the Kremlin's famous cathedrals. The Kremlin as we know it today was rebuilt as a stone structure during the beginning of the 14th century but the actual site has been inhabited and used as a fortified city wall for centuries before this period. The Kremlin is truly a fascinating structure - at the same time it is an ancient tower, the city's former military fortification, a palace and the workplace of the Russian President. The Kremlin is the center of Russia's political life and State power and has been home to Tsars, General Secretaries of the Soviet Union and Russian Presidents.

Moscow  is Russia's political and financial capital as well as a major world class cultural center. The city includes many must see attractions from the Kremlin and Red Square to the Assumption Cathedral. Moscow is the largest city in Europe. It is unique in that it blends the ancient with the modern. See medieval structures among modern office buildings, walk down crooked old city streets opening up to wide, busy boulevards. It is a fantastic city and truly a site that shouldn't be missed.

7 night italian cruise

Uglich : You will be taken on a walking city tour with visit to the  Kremlin , the  Church of St. Demitrius on the Blood  and the  Transfiguration cathedral .

Uglich  was founded in 1148 as a small princedom bordering on Muscovy and is one of the most beloved towns in Old Russia. The view of the town as you approach it from the Volga River is breathtaking with the Cathedral of the Resurrection and St. John's Church rising on the horizon. The history of the town is fascinating; At the end of the 16th century, Maria Nagaya, seventh wife of Ivan the Terrible, lived in honorary exile at the Kremlin in Uglich. It was here in her garden that the 10 year old Prince Dmitry of the Rurik Dynasty, heir to the Russian throne was murdered by Boris Godunov who wanted to seize power for himself. On the spot of his death, the Church of St. Demitrius of the Blood was built and still stands today. The death of Prince Dmitri brought on the start of the Time of Troubles, a dynastic and political crises and one of the most tumultuous periods in Russian history which ended 15 years later after the election of a new Tsar, Mikhail Romanov (the first Tsar of the Romanov Dynasty). Inside the Kremlin the oldest building in Uglich, the Palace of Tsarevich Dmitry also stands. During your time in Uglich you will learn more about the town's past and walk along the paths of Russian history.

7 night italian cruise

Arrival in the ancient village of  Goritsy . Tour of the  St. Cyril on the White Lake Monastery  and the  Museum of Icons .

Goritsy  is a tiny settlement 7 kilometers from the St. Cyril on the White Lake Monastery. The remains of the Nunnery of the Resurrection that sits on the banks of the Sheksna River can be visited and is within a quarter of a mile of where the ship stops. Goritsy is definitely a site to see for anyone with an interest in Russian history. St. Cyril on the White Lake was founded in 1397 by Kirill Belosersky on the shore of Lake Siverskoye. The monastery had wide trade in the 15th to 17th centuries and was used as a fortress to protect Russia's nobility during the Times of Troubles.

After the tour you will return to your ship and set sail in the direction of St. Petersburg along the Volga Baltic Canal. The Volga Baltic Canal is a series of canals and rivers that connect the Volga river to the Baltic Sea.

7 night italian cruise

You'll cruise along Europe's second largest lake,  Lake Onega  and arrive on the island of  Kizhi . Here you will visit a fascinating open-air museum containing numerous examples of elaborate Russian, wooden architecture.

Kizhi Island : Via the Volga Baltic Canal, our cruise takes us to the tiny island of Kizhi, located at the northern end of Lake Onega. The island is renowned for its open-air  Museum of Architecture , which is assembled from over 80 monuments of wooden architecture from various areas of the country and restored to form a glimpse of the past. The most impressive site on the island is the  Church of the Transfiguration or Preobrazhenskaya  (the church of twenty-two wooden domes). This masterpiece of architecture, featuring five tiers of 22 domes, was built in 1714 without the use of a single nail, only an axe and pine trees. The church magically changes color as the day grows old, it is certainly one of the most interesting things you will see during your time in Russia.

7 night italian cruise

A stop in the village of  Mandrogui . Enjoy walking around this traditional Russian village in its beautiful setting and spend a day of rest, relaxation and fun. We will have a fantastic barbeque picnic on the banks of the river featuring one of Russia's favorite specialties - shashlik (meat shish kebab prepared on an outdoor fire). You will love it!

Mandrogui  is really more of a living museum than a live-in village. It features a collection of old wooden houses and is geared towards showing visitors what a traditional Russian village resembled in the past. One of the features here is the Vodka Museum, which contains thousands of different brands and types of Russia's favorite pastime.

The Hermitage

Arrival in the imperial capital of Russia -  St. Petersburg . Your time in St. Petersburg will begin with a  Panoramic City Tour . This tour is the best way to get acquainted with all of the city's major highlights. Our professional guide will take you down  Nevsky Prospect , St. Petersburg's most famous and vibrant thoroughfare. There you will see some of the city's most interesting architectural monuments including the Kazan Cathedral (exterior) and the Winter Palace. You will see the  Peter and Paul Fortress  (interior) - a symbol of St. Petersburg and also the oldest building in the city.

One of the highlights of your entire cruise will be a visit to the  Hermitage , Russia's premier museum containing one of the largest art collections in the world. The museum consists of five historical buildings including the Winter Palace - the residence of the Russian Tsars. The museum contains over 3 million pieces of art with dates ranging from high antiquity to the present day. Among the Hermitage's treasures are artworks by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, Rubens and many others.

On the last day of your cruise you will say goodbye to Russia, your ship's crew and the many new friends we are sure you will have met during your time with us. We are sure that your memories of the trip will last a lifetime and we look forward to welcoming you to Russia sometime in the future. Our driver will meet you at the ship and take you to the airport to see you off (transfer is optional).

St. Petersburg  is Russia's second largest and second most important city - the Northern capital of the country, Russia's cultural center, and considered the world's 'Northern Venice' due to its extensive system of canals and islands. Walk along Nevsky Prospect and experience the grandeur of pre-revolutionary imperial Russia. Pass palaces from the past and gaze at the famous embankment of the Neva River with its numerous bridges and striking architecture. St. Petersburg is also home to Russia's largest and busiest port and with its many world class theaters and museums has a very high level of cultural life.

Inside Anant Ambani, Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding Italy cruise itinerary

A nant Ambani and his bride-to-be Radhika Merchant’s high-profile friends are on their way to Europe to attend the pair’s second pre-wedding celebration on a cruise.

The celebration on a cruise follows the first pre-wedding celebration in March and a private event in April hosted by Anant’s billionaire parents Mukesh and Nita Ambani.

As expected, the celebration is set to be a grand affair and will feature a space theme.

Here’s everything the guests will be experiencing on the Ambani’s luxury pre-wedding cruise.

Where will the five-day celebration kick off?

The billionaire couple will be accompanied by around 800 guests who will be treated to an adventure aboard a luxury cruise line from May 28 June 1, the Deccan Chronicle reported.

What's on the itinerary?

May 28 — Guests will embark on a 4,380-kilometre journey from Italy to the South of France and back.

May 29 — The Ambanis' celebrity friends will be treated to a welcome lunch, followed by a "Starry Night"- themed evening gala.

May 30 — Guests will land in Rome for a tour, followed by a dinner party and an after-party that will begin at 1am.

May 31 — After a morning of festivities on the cruise, guests will land in Cannes for a masquerade bash.

June 1 — The festivities will finally come to an end in Portofino, Italy.

What will Radhika wear?

Keeping the space theme in focus, Radhika will be wearing an exquisite custom-made Grace Ling Couture piece.

The piece, which is 3D-carved, is made using Aerospace Aluminum Technology and is inspired by the concept of a Galactic Princess.

Facing the mighty Celtics, the Pacers lost their star, and their swagger

An Eastern Conference finals stage that was supposed to introduce the Indiana Pacers at their best might be taking a turn for the worse.

7 night italian cruise

BOSTON — When they’re at their best, the Indiana Pacers are a hoops confectionary. They’re a tasty alternative in a professional game that offers too much staleness in iso ball, which often relies on the brightest star with the biggest contract taking the shots. Though the Pacers now have their own resident all-NBA player in Tyrese Haliburton, do not confuse them for a solo operation. Instead, they’re a balm for basketball.

When they’re on, they’re a delight to behold. The ball zips around, finding shooters and drivers, whoever’s open, no matter the size of his contract. They pile up the assists because sharing means winning, and they’ve won so much while playing their relentless, chaotic pace that they’ve made it this deep into the calendar for the first time in a decade. As fun and egalitarian as they make basketball look by trusting the pass and believing in one another, they largely spent the regular season as a poor man’s Golden State Warriors. Nobody — not even the most die-hard Pacers fan — could have predicted this team would evolve into an Eastern Conference finalist.

But two games into their big showcase against the Boston Celtics, these Pacers are missing what makes them so dangerous. Their joy.

On Thursday night, Indiana exuded so little of that key ingredient during a 126-110 loss. Witness T.J. McConnell growling and Myles Turner searching, pleading and still not finding anyone to take his side. But much worse than the flashes of frustration was the sight of Haliburton retreating to the Pacers’ sideline in the third quarter and not returning to the floor.

Only later did the reason for his absence became known: a sore left hamstring. The same left hamstring that caused him to miss 10 games during the regular season. The same left hamstring that nearly stole the Pacers’ joy when the team went 6-4 in the games he missed, then lost five of eight upon his hobbled return.

Following Thursday’s defeat, Indiana Coach Rick Carlisle tolerated a litany of questions on the injury — how Haliburton might have hurt his leg, whether he had aggravated the same injury from late January, his status for Game 3 on Saturday night in Indianapolis. Finally, Carlisle grew tired in his role as a pseudo-orthopedic specialist.

“I think we need to move on to another topic here,” Carlisle said, redirecting reporters in the postgame news conference.

Unfortunately for the Pacers, if Haliburton remains hurt or limited, there will be no other topics to discuss. Nothing else will matter. Maybe they’ll get to play a few more games before Boston, the East’s top team, takes its predictive place in the NBA Finals. But certainly if the conductor of the Pacers’ symphony of randomness can no longer be himself, there will be no more joy.

“Losing Ty for the game, obviously, was a big blow,” Carlisle said, a quote that could define the rest of the series for Indiana.

Still, besides Haliburton’s exit, other maladies factored into the Pacers falling into this 2-0 hole. The team in gold looked a step or two slow on defense and got cooked 54-34 in the paint. The Pacers were sloppy at the start, committing 10 turnovers in the first half. Mostly, they looked discontented.

The spiral began in the second quarter. The Pacers led 27-25, but immediately after forward Pascal Siakam couldn’t finish at the rim, Boston’s Al Horford got a breakaway dunk. The next time down, the Celtics secured three straight offensive rebounds to extend a possession before Jaylen Brown closed it with a layup, one of his forceful buckets in a 40-point night.

When Carlisle burned a quick timeout, McConnell, the backup point guard, spread his arms and slapped down at his sides, then huddled up his teammates near the sideline, red-faced and screaming. In his defense, watching Old Man Horford beat the entire Indiana team down court could make anyone lose his temper.

Later, when Turner picked up his third foul — light contact but contact for sure — he argued with officials. Then, as NBA players love to do, Turner turned to the Pacers’ sideline and demonstratively motioned for Carlisle to call for a review by twirling a finger in the air. Carlisle didn’t look toward his assistants behind the bench, the ones tasked with monitoring potential blown calls; he just looked for a replacement to play the five spot. Turner could only walk to his seat, still angrily twirling his finger.

Then, near the end of the half, after Aaron Nesmith coughed up turnover No. 10 by overdribbling around Boston’s hawk on defense, Derrick White, Haliburton headed back to the sideline with his head bowed. Though the score wasn’t out of hand and the high-scoring Pacers needed just one good run to get back into the game, their beaten-down body language told another story.

“We bounced back decently, got it to six at halftime, but the third [quarter] was tough,” Carlisle said.

During that quarter, the Pacers lost any realistic shot at coming back. And that was before they lost Haliburton.

The play before his departure seemed normal enough, with Haliburton trying to defend Brown on a drive. Though Brown passed on the layup, as Haliburton gave up on defense and backed entirely out of the play, the lane opened for reserve forward Oshae Brissett’s dunk that gave the Celtics an 11-point advantage. Haliburton then backed all the way to the sideline, to the locker room, to the trainer’s table and straight into the next morning’s talking points.

The Pacers are better when they play with their secret sauce of swagger. Some might see it as front-running; when the game’s flowing, Haliburton tilts his head to the heavens and screams or searches out stares on enemy turf and talks junk. But that’s just human nature. Joy comes easier when things are going well. For the Pacers, joy happens when Turner’s attacking the rim for his springboard dunks, McConnell’s harassing opponents for all 94 feet and Siakam’s displaying his interior moves, then his counter moves, looking like he’s losing balance on a sheet of ice but converting anyhow. Joy comes when everyone’s scoring in bunches, because the ball never stays still when Haliburton’s in control.

Now, a sore left hamstring threatens Indiana’s postseason. An Eastern Conference finals stage that was supposed to introduce these Pacers at their best might be taking a turn for the worse.
