Collegiate Campus tour

Register for an open day event and find out what Sheffield Hallam has to offer.

Leafy Collegiate Campus is just a 10 minute bus ride from the city centre.

Here's a guide to some of its key buildings, and what goes on inside.

Our buildings

The entrance of Heart of the Campus at Collegiate Campus. Several students are in the distance walking up the steps.

Heart of the Campus is the central hub of Collegiate Campus. In here you'll find space to meet people, study and just take a break between lessons. On the bottom floor is the Granary Cafe, which a lot of people say is their favourite place to eat on campus. There's also a student services centre here, where you can get advice and support on everything from careers to finance, study skills and wellbeing. This area is also home to subjects like psychology and law. We've even got a mock courtroom.

A room of exercise equipment at Hallam Active, located at the Collegiate Campus.

If you're into sport, Collegiate Campus is the place to be. We have gyms at both campuses, but here you've got access to our strength and conditioning suites, fitness studio and outdoor pitches. You're also just a short bus ride from our sports park, where we host competitions against other universities like Varsity and BUCS.

The Pavilions exterior at the Botanical Gardens on a sunny day

Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in Europe, and you can definitely see that at Collegiate. Just up the road are the Botanical Gardens and Endcliffe Park, which are great places to go for a run or just sit down and relax.

The entrance to the Collegiate Library located at the Sheffield Hallam Collegiate Campus

Just like the Adsetts library on City Campus, Collegiate's library is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. There are quiet areas if you're studying by yourself, meeting rooms for group work, laptops available to borrow, and PCs with specialist software such as Adobe Suite.

The exterior of Collegiate Hall located at the Sheffield Hallam Collegiate Campus.

If you're based at Collegiate, at some point you'll have lectures or seminars in Collegiate Hall. It's the oldest building in the University and quite different from the rest of it.

The entrance to the Robert Winston Building located at the Sheffield Hallam Collegiate Campus.

Just across the road is the Robert Winston Building, which is home to many of our healthcare courses. Hallam is one of the biggest health and social care educators in the UK, and our facilities here include operating theatres, mock wards and even augmented reality.

Downtime on Ecclesall Road

When you're done with work for the day, Collegiate Campus is right next to Ecclesall Road, which is the heart of Hallam's student scene.

A view down tree lined Ecclesall Road on a sunny day. Several bars, boutique shops and eateries can be seen on either side.

There are tons of shops, bars and restaurants to try out, and if you want to head back into the city centre it's just a short walk or bus ride away.

If you're organising a trip (in the UK or abroad) then you must submit an online trip form and adhere to the relevant risk assessment.

Depending on the type of trip, you'll need to submit a different form - please see the options below:

  • UK day trip
  • UK residential trip
  • UK walking/ hiking trip
  • UK camping trip
  • Trip abroad with a tour operator

Trip abroad without a tour operator

Uk day trip (e.g. a coach trip to alton towers).

Submit form (at least two weeks in advance of your trip):

Adhere to risk assessment:

UK residential trip (e.g. a weekend trip to London)

Uk walking/ hiking trip (e.g. a walk in the peaks, a hike further afield), uk camping trip (e.g. a weekend trip to a national park).

n.b. "wild camping" - i.e. not camping at a licenced campsite - is illegal and therefore not permitted.

Trip abroad with a tour operator (e.g. an organised trip with Ilovetour, Outgoing or other travel companies)

Trips abroad are fantastic fun but you need to get approval from the SU before you sign any agreements! Contact Tim at [email protected] to make him aware of your plans.

When you have received SU approval and sold the tickets for the trip your Trip Leader is required to submit the following form (at least two weeks in advance of your trip):

The trip leader should check that ALL travellers have obtained valid travel/medical insurance. Travel is NOT permitted without insurance.

The following Tour Operators have signed up to our Code of Conduct which provides guarantees for societies booking their foreign trips through external companies and covers contract, finance, customer service and trip representatives. We'd advise you to read it and keep a copy in case of any problems on your trip!

(n.b. you don't need to get the Code of Conduct signed by the Tour Operators yourselves as they have signed it for us already!).

If your society or committee are organising a trip abroad yourself (i.e. without going through a Tour Operator) then you should seek approval from your Student Groups Coordinator before making a booking: [email protected] . You must then book in a meeting with your Coordinator at least 4-6 weeks in advance of your trip for specific help with your risk assessment and planning. You will still need to complete a Trip Abroad Form (without Tour Operator) - your Coordinator will supply this.

Please read the guide on How To Plan A Trip Abroad for more details.

If you're organising your own trip abroad, then it can be useful to produce a guide for your participants. For inspiration, History Society created a fantastic leaflet for their trip to Dublin.

Please check out the Student Group Safety page for further guidance on how to keep your society safe and sound.

Features of the macrostructure and microstructure of uranium dioxide powders are considered. Assumptions are made on the mechanisms of the behavior of powders of various natures during pelletizing. Experimental data that reflect the effect of these powders on the quality of fuel pellets, which is evaluated by modern procedures, are presented. To investigate the structure of the powders, modern methods of electron microscopy, helium pycnometry, etc., are used. The presented results indicate the disadvantages of wet methods for obtaining the starting UO 2 powders by the ammonium diuranate (ADU) flow sheet because strong agglomerates and conglomerates, which complicate the process of pelletizing, are formed. The main directions of investigation that can lead to understanding the regularities of formation of the structure of starting UO 2 powders, which will allow one to control the process of their fabrication and stabilize the properties of powders and pellets, are emphasized.
