10 Top Tourist Attractions in Venezuela

By Carl Austin · Last updated on May 6, 2024

Venezuela is a country of many faces. It has Caribbean coastal beaches, Andean peaks, wetlands teeming with piranhas and anacondas and inland sand dunes. It is a tropical country that has great biodiversity. It is also the country of oil exports, beauty pageant winners, and the birthplace of Simon Bolivar, who liberated many South American countries from Spanish rule. Indeed, most cities, regardless of size, have a plaza honoring the great liberator. An overview of the most popular tourist attractions in Venezuela :

10. Morrocoy National Park [SEE MAP]

Morrocoy National Park

Morrocoy National Park is located in the northeastern part of Venezuela. It contains an area of mangroves and numerous islets and cays with beautiful sandy beaches. Coral reefs and tropical fish are abundant in the waters around the cayos. Dolphins, marine turtles and even some coastal caimans live in the remoter mangroves. Birds include pelicans, flamingos, egrets and the colorful scarlet ibis. On the islands, vegetation is sparse and generally adapted to the dry, salty environment.

9. Medanos de Coro [SEE MAP]

Medanos de Coro

The sand dunes at Medanos de Coro National Park are a spectacular sight, especially since they’re located in what is essentially a tropical country. The dunes, some of which are 40 meters (120 feet) high, are in colorful shades of orange and yellow. High winds mean they are always changing shape. The area is quite dry, so there’s limited vegetation and wildlife to see. The dunes are a popular place to go sand boarding, and can also be explored on hired camels. The national park is easily reachable by bus or taxi from Coro.

8. Mochima National Park [SEE MAP]

Mochima National Park

Mochima National Park is located on the northeastern coast and is designed to protect the marine environment as well as the forests of the Turimiquire mountains. Venezuela’s second marine park, created in 1973, takes in the shoreline from Puerto la Cruz to Cumana, as well as 32 offshore islands. Pelicans nest at La Ciena Cove while dolphins prevail at Isla Cachicamo. The park, named after a nearby town, is also popular with snorkelers and divers with excellent underwater spots, including exploring three ship wrecks, within a 30- to 40-minute boat ride from Puerto la Cruz.

7. Isla Margarita [SEE MAP]

Isla Margarita

Isla Margarita, the largest island off the northeastern coast of Venezuela, is a great place to do some beachcombing. With 50 beaches strung out over the coastline, popular activities include wind- and kite-surfing, especially at Playa el Yaque. Isla Margarita is a popular vacation destination with Venezuelans, partly because of shopping at the duty-free port. It has several large cities, including La Asuncion, the capital of the Venezuelan state of Nueva Esparta. FYI: Christopher Columbus was the first European on the island, way back in 1498.

6. Mount Roraima [SEE MAP]

Mount Roraima

Mount Roraima is a tabletop mountain (or tepuy) than sits at an elevation of 2,810 meters (9,220 feet). While most of Roraima lies in Venezuela , it also marks the point where Brazil and Guyana join that country. The only way visitors can climb to the plateau however is from the Venezuelan side. It also is the centerpiece of Canaima National Park, where geologic formations date back two billion years. It rains almost every day on the plateau, which is home to some rare plants and animals. The plateau inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle when he wrote his 1912 fictional novel entitled The Lost World.

5. Merida Cable Car [SEE MAP]

Merida Cable Car

Riding the Merida Cable Car (called the Teleférico) is something that every visitor to Venezuela simply must do. Why? Because it’s the world’s longest and highest cable car. The cable car route is almost 12 km (7.5 miles) and soars more than 4,700 meters (15,600 feet) in the air. The cable car stops along the way, so visitors can get out and maybe do a little trekking; the stops are named after the views and other sights that are seen along the way. December to February is the best time to make the ride because there’s no fog.

4. Choroni [SEE MAP]

Choroni

Choroni is generally known as one of Venezuela’s best Caribbean beaches, though the town itself actually sits slightly inland, boasting some fine colonial houses around a quiet central plaza. Choroni also makes a good base for bird-, plant- and wildlife-watchers who want to explore the cloud forest and lowland jungles of Henri Pittier National Park. Besides monkeys, snakes and deer, the park has 500 bird species and 200 kinds of butterflies. Venezuela’s first national park was originally known as Rancho Grande but the name was later changed to Henri Pittier, in honor of the scientist who proposed it.

3. Los Roques [SEE MAP]

Los Roques

Los Roques Archipelago National Park was created in 1972 by the Venezuelan government to protect a marine ecosystem of exceptional beauty and ecological . It is the largest marine park in the Caribbean Sea. The almost untouched coral reefs host some of the most beautiful underwater fauna and flora of the Caribbean. The park has exceptionally beautiful beaches of white sand and multicolor, crystalline warm waters which make it a diving, sailing and fishing paradise. The main island is Gran Roque, which has a few small villa-style hotels that are small but comfortable.

2. Los Llanos [SEE MAP]

Los Llanos

Los Llanos, or The Plains, is a vast grassland that straddles Venezuela and Columbia. The Orinoco River that runs through it forms the border between the two countries, and is the main river in Venezuela. Los Llanos generally floods during the rainy season (May to October), turning into a birdwatcher’s paradise. Sometimes called the Serengeti of South America, it’s the place to see wildlife in the dry season, when animals flock to the areas that do have water. Besides being the last stronghold for the Orinoco Crocodile, Los Llanos is also home to anacondas, capybaras, jaguars and caimans.

1. Angel Falls [SEE MAP]

#1 of Tourist Attractions In Venezuela

Angel Falls is one the most popular tourist attractions in Venezuela as it is the highest uninterrupted waterfalls in the world. It is 978 meters (3,208 feet) tall, and drops off the side of Auyantepui Mountain in Canaima National Park in Bolivar State. Located on the Gauja River, the falls were originally known as Kerepakupai Vená, or “fall from the highest point” by the local natives. The name was later changed to Angel Falls to honor Jimmie Angel, a U.S. aviator who was the first to fly over the falls. The waterfall is at its highest June to December.

15 Best Places to Visit in Venezuela

There are many beautiful and varied regions of Venezuela to explore. It has the Andean mountain range, the Caribbean coast, inland dunes, and the anaconda filled wetlands. It’s a tropical country with incredible biodiversity that you’re sure to fall in love with.

Famous as the birthplace of Simon Bolivar, the liberator of many countries in South America from Spanish rule, you’ll find tributes to him in almost every city and town.

Though the country has been struggling in recent years with inflation and rising crime, Venezuela remains a destination spot and the rewards of travelling here are amazing – it’s full of “trip of a lifetime” places you can’t afford to miss.

1. Angel Falls

Angel Falls

Venezuela is home to the world’s highest waterfall.  Needless to say, this is the most popular destination in the country.  With nearly a 1 kilometre drop, spectacular is really the only word to describe it.

Located in a rather isolated jungle in the Canaima National Park, the falls are on the Orinoco River. Hikers will love the trek out to this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

To cool off you have the option of taking a dip in the white sand beaches around the lagoon or the natural pools at the base of the falls.

Mérida

Calling all adventure sports lovers! You’ll want to spend time in the progressive town of Mérida.  This rather affluent city has both fantastic mountain vistas and an unhurried and cultured vibe.  The energy is youthful and friendly, thanks in large part to the university here.

Mérida has a gorgeous climate which attracts the outdoor enthusiasts looking for top quality activities to choose from.  Try rafting, canyoning, mountain biking, hiking, and paragliding – the city’s specialty.

Stay here if you’re looking to take lightening-viewing trips to Catatumbo or wildlife trips to Los Llanos. After you’ve indulged your sense of fun, enjoy a rather fast-paced nightlife.

Coro

This small and somewhat deteriorating town on Venezuela’s coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the colonial architecture.

Coro also boasts wonderful museums and a lovely cathedral.  This is a city for walking and you’ll really enjoy Zamora, where the historic mansions are.

Coro is the starting point for the fabulous sand dunes found in Parque Nacional Médanos de Coro and it’s also a nice base camp for exploring areas like the Sierra de San Luis Mountains or the Península de Paraguaná.

4. Los Roques

Los Roques

After your visit to the Archipelago of Los Roques National Park you’ll always think of it as one of the most beautiful places on Earth.  Incredible shades of blue in the surrounding waters, white sand beaches, the vibrant green of the mangrove swamps, and the otherworldly shapes and shades of the coral reefs all combine to make the park truly breathtaking.

You’ll quickly see that it’s an area of bright and gorgeous contrasts. There are over 1,000 keys here and you can find a landscape to suit your preferences – everything from sand beach, good surf, rock beach, still water bays, coastal barrier, lagoons, salt mines, and more.

Don’t leave without trying the fishing, sailing, diving, lobster catching, and windsurfing on offer.

5. Ciudad Bolívar

Ciudad Bolívar

Ciudad Bolívar has a proud history as the centre of the struggle for independence in Venezuela.  Simon Boliver set up his military base here as he began the final campaign in the War for Independence.

It’s the capital of the country’s largest state and the historic centre, known as Casco Historico, is without doubt the countries best.  There’s a staggering array of colourful colonial buildings, the Paseo Orinoco, and tons of shaded squares to loiter in.

Most travellers find a reason to stop here on their way to Angel Falls. Be sure to check out the Plaza Miranda, the cathedral and historic cemetery there.

6. Henri Pittier National Park

Henri Pittier National Park

This is Venezuela’s oldest national park. Its claim to fame is birdlife, and with over 500 bird species, it’s little wonder.

Named for Henri Pittier, who came to the country in the early 20th century and worked to classify over 30,000 plants.

He is also one of the founders of the national park system in Venezuela.  The park has fantastic coastline, beaches, bays, mountains, and a few resorts.  There’s great opportunity for diving, swimming, and sunbathing.

7. Isla Margarita

Isla Margarita

One of the best places for beach bums in Venezuela is Isla Margarita, the largest island off the coast. You’ve got more than 50 beaches to choose from and each will suit various personalities – for instance, Playa el Yaque is great for water sports, Juangriego is a large laid back beach town, and Península de Macanao is largely untouched and deserted.

Venezuelans love to come to Isla Margarita thanks to the duty free shopping at the port.

The capital is La Asuncion, a large and surprisingly urban city. You’ll find great shopping, restaurants and nightlife here and in Porlamar. Be sure to head inland and do some trekking in the mountains before you go.

8. Mount Roraima

Mount Roraima

Sitting at an elevation of almost 3,000 metres, Mount Roraima has a flat tabletop that feels otherworldly.  Lying mostly in Venezuela but partly in Guyana and Brazil, it is the main attraction of Canaima National Park.  The hike to the top is usually done in two days.

The geological formations are as old as two billion years.  Home to rare animals and birds, Mount Roraima was the inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World.

Because of its uniqueness, the mountain figures prominently in many of Venezuela’s folklores.

9. Maracaibo

Maracaibo

Usually people come to Maracaibo because they’re in the oil business, but there’s a lively historic centre that history buffs will want to see. Most people stay in the new centre where you’ll find nice shopping and upscale hotels.  This is Venezuela’s second largest city and a nice day excursion.

10. Barquisimeto

Barquisimeto

The capital of the state of Lara, Barquisimeto is simply lovely, charming, and timeless.  Situated on the Turbio River and nicknamed “City of the Twilight,” this is a place you’ll want to linger.

Known as the musical centre of Venezuela, there’s an energetic cultural vibe that has a definite global influence. While you’re there, stop by the Museo de Barquisimeto.  This museum is housed in a large historic building with a central courtyard and chapel inside.

There’s a so the Iglesia de la Concepción, the town’s first cathedral originally built in the 19th century.

11. Los Llanos

Los Llanos

Also known as The Plains, the grassland region of Los Llanos is located on the border between Columbia and Venezuela.  During the summer months the plain tends to flood making this the perfect destination for bird lovers.

When it’s dry season Los Llanos is ideal for wildlife sighting when the animals gather in the few areas with water – giving it the nickname of the Serengeti of South America.

You’ll find anacondas, jaguars, caimans, capybaras, and the Orinoc Crocodile – now found in no other place.

12. Guayana

Guayana

Not to be mistaken for the country of Guyana, the southeast region of Guayana is Venezuela at its exotic best.  This is the region of Angel Falls and Parque Nacional Canaima as well as the Orinoco Delta, a phenomenal wildlife area.

You’ll find the Venezuelan Amazon, Rio Caura, and The Great Savanna (La Gran Sabana) where the Tepui Mountains loom large and distinctive.  Several large communities of indigenous groups call Guayana home, including the Pemón, the Yanomami, and the Warao.

Some travellers come to Venezuela just for this region and spend their entire holiday discovering its many delights.

13. Choroni

Choroni

Choroni is a quiet and charming beach town where those looking to relax and do a lot of “nothing” should plan to spend some time.  The town has a colonial feel and a quiet plaza perfect for relaxing.

If you want to spend time in Henri Pittier National Park, Choroni makes a good base camp.

This is the perfect place for those who want to slow down and unwind.

14. Medanos de Coro National Park

Medanos de Coro National Park

Medanos de Coro National Park is famous for its sand dunes – considering that they’re located in a tropical country.

Some of the dunes reach 40 metres and are shaded yellow and orange.  The high winds here mean the dune constantly and delightfully change shape.

Visitors love to come and sand board on the dunes or explore the larger area on camel.

15. The Andes

Andes, Venezuela

Most people think of sun and sand when they think of Venezuela so it’s worth noting that it’s also home to a 400km stretch of snow capped Andes Mountains. Pico Bolivar, the country’s highest peak, stands at just over 5,000 metres.

If trekking through the high passes isn’t for you, don’t discount the area.  You’ll find cascading waterfalls, green valleys of cloud forest, quaint mountain villages that are only accessible by winding roads.

Start in Mérida state, which has some of the best tourist infrastructure right now for exploring the mountains.  For those big into adventure, try Táchira and Trujillo.

11 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Venezuela

Written by Lana Law May 4, 2020

Venezuela is a country of beautiful landscapes and surprising sights, from the coast to the mountain tops. Magnificent waterfalls tumble off table top mountains, and coastal towns and offshore islands offer pleasant escapes and soft-sand beaches.

Inland, the Andes Mountains, soaring to over 16,000 feet, provide a stunning backdrop to colorful and lively cities, and the Orinoco Delta is teeming with wildlife. Caracas, the capital and largest city in the country, offers its own type of adventure, with a number of cultural sites and surrounding attractions.

The best places to visit are not always the easiest to reach, and Venezuela is no exception. Some of these destinations are well off the beaten path. For inspirational ideas, see our list of the top tourist attractions in Venezuela.

1. Angel Falls

2. los roques archipelago (archipiélago los roques), 3. isla de margarita (margarita island), 4. parque nacional morrocoy (morrocoy national park), 5. canaima national park and the gran sabana, 7. orinoco delta, 9. national pantheon of venezuela, 10. parque nacional los médanos de coro (medanos de coro national park), 11. mochima national park.

Angel Falls

In the heart of the country, where table top mountains rise up like giant monoliths from the surrounding landscape, is Angel Falls. Dropping 979 meters, it is the highest waterfall in the world and one of the highlights of South America.

This stunning site in Canaima National Park is remote and difficult to access, but flights over the falls are easily arranged.

The best time to see the falls is during the rainy season, between May and November, when water is plentiful and the falls do not disappear into a mist before reaching the bottom as they do in the dry season. During the dry season, the falls may be little more than a trickle and you will want to check in advance to see if there is enough water to make the trip worthwhile.

The falls are usually visited by either a sightseeing flight or a three-day boat trip beginning in the town of Canaima. The boat trip, which also includes a hike through the jungle to the base of the falls, is not a luxury tour by any stretch, with basic accommodation along the route. The boat trip may not be possible during the dry season due to low water levels in the river.

Flights over the falls depart from many towns and cities and can be arranged from various places, including Caracas, Ciudad Bolívar, Santa Elena, or Isla Margarita, as well as other major cities, although usually with a connecting flight.

Gran Roque

Sun-drenched beaches, turquoise waters, coral reefs, and modest development with no high-rise hotels, are what draw travelers to this beautiful chain of islands 160 kilometers north of the central coast of Venezuela.

The archipelago is Los Roques National Park, but most people refer to the area simply as Los Roques. This is one of the best places to visit in Venezuela. The small seaside fishing village of Gran Roque, on the island of the same name, is the main settlement, with single-story homes painted in the typical bright colors seen throughout Venezuela.

The buildings stretch out along the beachfront, which seems to go on forever. One of the highlights is the little island of Cayo de Agua. Reached by boat, this is one of Venezuela's most beautiful beaches, with shallow turquoise waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

The islands are usually reached by aircraft from Caracas, there is no ferry service from the mainland. The airport is located in Gran Roque. Boats can be chartered from the town's waterfront area for those interested in visiting some of the surrounding islands, diving, or taking a snorkeling trip.

Isla de Margarita (Margarita Island)

Isla de Margarita is one of the more developed beach destinations in Venezuela. Lying approximately 40 kilometers north of the mainland, this is one of Venezuela's major tourist destinations for sun seekers. The island's main attractions are the beautiful soft sand beaches, which are popular with both foreigners and Venezuelans.

Many charter flights fly directly to Isla Margarita from a variety of international destinations, but it's also possible to take a ferry to the island from Puerto La Cruz on the mainland.

The main city on the island is Porlamar, but the numerous beaches are spread around the island, with some of the best on the north and east side. Many of these are developed, with hotels or restaurants. Some of the most popular beaches are La Playa El Agua, Playa Puerto Cruz, Playa Guacuco, and Playa Manzanillo.

Cayo Sombrero

Morrocoy National Park, located along the coast about a two-hour drive west of Caracas, is known for its white-sand beaches and coral reefs, which stretch along the mainland and ring the offshore islands and cays. Diving is one of the main activities for those who are looking for more than simply spending a day on the beach.

The park is also home to a large number of birds, from osprey and parrots to flamingos and scarlet ibis. Some of the most popular islands are Cayo Sombrero, Cayo Borracho, Cayo Sal, and Cayo Peraza, to name just a few.

There are two main access points, one at Tucacas and the other at Chichiriviche, with boat services to the islands available at both of these towns. The park is easily accessible and, as a result, very popular with Venezuelans. It can get extremely busy, particularly around holidays.

Canaima National Park and the Gran Sabana

Canaima National Park covers three million hectares and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is usually associated with Angel Falls and the area around the town of Canaima, but this is actually only a small area of the vastly diverse park.

The park also encompasses the high plateau of La Gran Sabana and includes more than 100 tepuis (table top mountains), which rise more than 1,000 meters above the savannahs. A trip through the Gran Sabana and Canaima National Park is a unique experience and does not necessarily even need to be combined with a trip to Angel Falls, particularly during the dry season.

Highlights in this area are the numerous waterfalls spread across the entire area, particularly in the Gran Sabana near the Brazilian border. Swimming at the base of the waterfalls is one of the highlights and can provide a refreshing escape from the heat of the midday sun during the dry season.

Roraima

The table-top mountain of Roraima has an alluring appeal for nature lovers and adventure seekers, with an almost mystical Jack and the Beanstalk type of wonder attached to it. Rising up from the surrounding lowlands, Roraima is an island in the sky that has been intriguing people for centuries, with its bizarre rock formations, waterfalls, and meat-eating plants. This tepui (table-top mountain) was even the inspiration for Arthur Conan Doyle's famous novel The Lost World .

Roraima is one of the highest tepuis in Canaima National Park. It is also one of the most easily accessible and a popular hiking destination, although it is a demanding, multi-day hike. The temperature drops as the elevation rises and Roraima is often cloudy, misty, or raining, so hikers need to be prepared to face the elements.

Orinoco Delta

The Orinoco Delta, in the northeast of Venezuela, offers a completely different landscape and experience than other parts of the country. The river delta is home to all kinds of interesting wildlife, from monkeys and macaws to piranhas.

Riverside lodges offer multi-day packages that take guests out in boats for wildlife viewing and visiting local Warao people. Some camps also offer night safaris. The quality of the lodges varies so it's best to do some research in advance. Trips can be arranged from Ciudad Bolivar, Ciudad Guayana (Puerto Ordaz), or from other cities, and can be combined with a larger tour of other areas.

Caracas: Galipan and the National Pantheon

While few people plan to spend much time in Caracas, the city does have a couple of sites worth seeing. One of the highlights is a trip up the funicular to the small town of Galipan on Avila Mountain in northern Caracas.

It is also possible to drive, but this is a twisty road that doesn't lend itself to looking around. The views from the top of the hill are spectacular, particularly on clear days, when you can see Caracas and the coast. At the top are stalls with vendors selling a variety of goods, and a number of decent restaurants offering some tasty treats.

National Pantheon of Venezuela

The National Pantheon is one of the most important attractions in Caracas. The building was constructed after the 1812 earthquake when the original church on this site was destroyed. Today, it is the country's most sacred shrine and houses the remains of prominent Venezuelans, including those of Simon Bolívar.

Parque Nacional Los Médanos de Coro (Medanos de Coro National Park)

Medanos de Coro National Park offers surprising sights, with rolling sand dunes typical of a desert scene. The sand dunes, known locally as medanos, roll across the landscape, with twisting and curving lines, and some dunes reach up to 40 meters in height.

Dispersed within the hills are a number of lagoons, formed by decades-old flooding. This park is a fun place to wander around, slide down the dunes, take photos, and appreciate the diversity of landscapes that make Venezuela so unique.

Mochima National Park

This park covers a portion of the coast and a chain of offshore islands east of Puerto La Cruz to Cumaná. The main attractions here are the beaches and the diving. The islands can be accessed by boat from Puerto La Cruz, Santa Fé, and Mochima.

It is also possible to explore the mainland portion of the park by car or bus, stopping off at small villages and beach-lined bays off highway 9, but this is primarily a place for boating. The area around the park is very quiet and it doesn't see nearly the amount of traffic as Morrocoy. This is a good option for people who happen to be in this area or heading out to the Paria Peninsula.

Venezuela, home to some of South America's most incredible landscapes, rightly has a terrible image problem at the moment. Hyperinflation has led to a dramatic drop in living standards and issues with the supply of basic goods, while personal safety, particularly in Caracas, is worse than anywhere else on the continent. Thousands of its own citizens have fled the country and spread throughout South America (it's estimated more than two million have left since 2014). While visiting can be incredibly cheap because of the black-market value of the dollar/euro, safety is a serious concern.

The monsoon season commences with the onset of the second half of April. The water returns to the otherwise dry waterfalls. The rainy season lasts till November, and there are chances of a hurricane. The factors such as scorching heat and continuous rainfall during the wet season act as hindrances in sightseeing. Hence, people avoid a trip to Venezuela during the wet season.

December to the first half of April marks the dry season in Venezuela. The falls have less water capacity, compromising the beauty and the mesmerizing view. But apart from the waterfalls, it is the best time to visit Venezuela for sightseeing as there is no hindrance.

How to buy new edition tickets: dates and prices compared for 2024 concert tour.

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

New Edition's Las Vegas residency is still going strong through 2024, though only a few tour dates remain. Luckily, the iconic music group has added additional tour dates and there are a few different ways to buy New Edition tickets.

New Edition began their residency at the Encore Theater in Las Vegas in February, with their stay ultimately being extended through November. After their original six shows, New Edition added two more legs for this year for a total of 10 more concert dates. Performing on their 2024 concert tour are group members Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe, who sing their classic hits like "Candy Girl," "Cool It Now," and "If It Isn't Love."

If you're still looking for how to buy tickets to New Edition's concerts, we've got you covered. Here's our breakdown of the R&B group's tour schedule, purchasing details, and ticket prices. You can also browse tickets and show specifics on StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

New Edition 2024 tour schedule

All six members of New Edition are returning for the remainder of the group's Las Vegas residency, which kicks off on July 3. It features seven shows from July 3 to July 13 in Las Vegas, with the third leg picking back up for three additional concert dates in October and November.

The group is also appearing at the Cincinnati Music Festival in July.

All concert times are listed in local time zones.

How to buy tickets for New Edition's 2024 concert tour

You can buy original tickets for New Edition's 2024 Las Vegas residency concert dates and music festival appearance on Ticketmaster. However, since the residency extension shows went on sale in March 2024, the quantity of remaining original tickets is limited.

Tickets can also be purchased from verified resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats . You may have better luck with the variety of seating options and availability on resale sites compared to the original tickets still left.

It's also important to note that New Edition's shows at the Encore Theater in Las Vegas only permit concertgoers ages 18 and up — so be sure to bring your ID to get into the group's residency performances.

How much are New Edition's tickets?

Given the high demand for the group's remaining Las Vegas residency shows, tickets to see New Edition in 2024 are relatively expensive. Furthermore, ticket prices vary depending on each show's concert date and demand. Resale ticket prices are comparable to or cheaper than original ticket costs.

The cheapest original ticket prices on Ticketmaster begin at $175 for New Edition's Las Vegas shows on October 30 and November 1. The least expensive seats are generally in the left or right mezzanine. However, most other dates with remaining original tickets are a bit more costly, with the cheapest seats coming in at over $200.

On the other hand, original one-day Saturday tickets for New Edition's Cincinnati Music Festival performance start at only $65. This ticket also lets you see artists like Kem, Stokley, En Vogue, and Coco Jones. Check out the full line-up here .

The least expensive resale tickets available to New Edition's Las Vegas residency on StubHub start at $165 for the group's July 5 performance. Vivid Seats offers similar prices for resale tickets, as the cheapest available Las Vegas show passes begin at $165. However, both sites' base fares are slightly more expensive than the $65 original tickets for the Cincinnati Music Festival, as StubHub's begin at $72 while Vivid Seats' start at $73.

Who is opening for New Edition's tour?

New Edition does not have any opening acts for their tour. Once the showtime begins in Las Vegas, the R&B group will be the ones to come onstage.

Currently, New Edition has not announced any upcoming international tour dates for their 2024 concert series.

Sleeper Picks: Wells Fargo Championship

Sleeper Picks

Change Text Size

Harris English (+5000) … He hasn’t captured victory since emerging as the survivor of an eight-hole playoff at the 2021 Travelers Championship, but the 34-year-old has been flashing vintage form for a good year now, itself about a year on from surgery for a torn labrum in his right hip. He’s well above average across the board and Quail Hollow is the site of his most recent podium finish. No one was catching Wyndham Clark for the win at last year’s Wells Fargo Championship, but English shared third in the full field (seven strokes back).

Sahith Theegala (+450) … Learning from last week’s lesson when S.H. Kim “should” have been the fourth Sleeper among the Top 5s to pay it off this year. (He finished T4 at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.) Instead, he was slotted as the outright in this space (although there was a nod to swap him with Thomas Detry, the listed Top 5). To wit, Theegala was the original front-runner for this week’s outright, but he sets up better for the next-best reward. Any course history, good or otherwise, can be chalked up as invaluable experience because of his quick-study profile as a feel player. Of course, it’s a results-based business, but he has a stack of receipts if you need those, too. Two runner-up finishes, a solo fifth and another pair of top 10s already this season.

Brendon Todd (+600) … When a guy who never will win a long-drive contest answers the bell on a course like Quail Hollow that most definitely rewards distance off the tee, respect is even greater. Yet, he’s in the longer half of odds in the field for this finish. Ignore the slight because that’s very good for us. He placed T8 here last year but he also finished T18 in 2019, arguably the more impressive outcome given the fact that he had arrived that week at 1,560th in the Official World Golf Ranking due to an extended skid with the driver yips. No such worries nowadays. He’s 20th on the PGA TOUR in fairways hit and a classically strong 18th in Strokes Gained: Putting.

Kevin Tway (+500) … A T11 with Kelly Kraft at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans was a bonus, but it’s now sandwiched in between a solo third at Corales and a T9 at TPC Craig Ranch. He arrives for his fourth start at Quail Hollow (via the Aon Swing 5) with eight consecutive sub-70s in individual competition, so investing in a Top 20 in a field of 69, regardless of its depth and breadth, is meaty. The gamechanger of late has been his putting, and it hasn’t made a difference that he’s rolled it on paspalum, Bermuda and bentgrass the last three weeks, respectively. Pure and simple, he’s feelin’ it.

Emiliano Grillo (+210) … It’s a beautiful thing that BetMGM opened this market for the Signature Event. It’s even better than the Argentine is worth more than twice the kickback in it. Awful closing rounds in his last two paydays shoved him well away from the spotlight. He also never locked in at the Masters, but negative results on the biggest stages are forgiven. He’s still putting exceptionally well across full tournaments, so it pays to dive into that detail. Oh, and he’s gone T9-T14-T23 at Quail Hollow since 2018.

Meet the Candidate Challenging Venezuela’s Authoritarian President

Edmundo González, a former diplomat, is unknown to many Venezuelans. But some experts say that could work in his favor as he runs against President Nicolás Maduro in national elections.

The day Edmundo González was plucked from obscurity and chosen to take on South America’s longest ruling authoritarian leader, technicians were busy making sure his home was not wiretapped.

“This was not in our plans,” his wife, Mercedes López de González, said in an interview that day in April in their apartment in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.

Not long ago, Mr. González, 74, was a retired diplomat and grandfather of four with no political aspirations. He kept busy writing academic papers, speaking at conferences and taking his grandchildren to haircuts and music lessons. Few in his native Venezuela knew his name.

Now, many Venezuelans have placed their hopes in him to end years of repressive rule as he challenges President Nicolás Maduro, who has held power since 2013, in elections scheduled in late July.

Mr. González is suddenly back to having a full-time job.

“Twice a day I have to wipe the phone,” he said in a brief interview. “I delete almost 150 messages. I go to bed at 1 a.m., and by 4 a.m., I’m back on my feet and working again. I never imagined this.”

After years of rigged elections and political persecution, people in Venezuela yearning for a return to democracy have learned to expect disappointment.

A coalition of opposing parties, the Democratic Unity Roundtable, had been working to unite behind a single candidate who could pose a viable challenge to Mr. Maduro, but his government put up a series of obstacles.

In the end, Mr. González emerged as a candidate the government would not seek to block and who the opposition would support.

A long view of Mr. González in a room filled with dark furniture.

He accepted the role, but friends and colleagues say it is one he had never prepared for.

“Edmundo is not a man who’s ever had any political ambitions,” said Phil Gunson, a Venezuela expert for International Crisis Group in Caracas and a friend of Mr. González’s. “He’s someone who is doing what he sees as his duty.”

Some experts say his low profile could make it difficult for Mr. González to gain traction among voters, particularly outside Caracas, where information comes from government-controlled media that is unlikely to give his campaign much coverage.

Mr. Gonzalez, unlike other opposition leaders, has also not been openly critical of the Maduro government and its human rights record, which has raised concerns among some analysts who say holding officials accountable for abuses is crucial to restoring the rule of law to the country.

At home on the day he made it onto the ballot, Mr. González declined to speak at length about the election.

The youngest of three siblings, Mr. González was born to a family of modest means in the small city of La Victoria, about 50 miles west of Caracas. His mother was a schoolteacher and his father a shopkeeper who discouraged him from his childhood dream of being a diplomat, calling it “a profession for rich people,” according to the candidate’s daughter, Carolina González.

Undeterred, he went on to study international relations at the Central University of Venezuela.

In college he was a dedicated student, his classmate and longtime friend Imelda Cisneros recalled. It was a politically tumultuous time when a far-left communist ideology was becoming popular on campus and tensions were high.

But Mr. González became a student leader “with a very calm approach of reconciliation,” she said.

“He wanted to be a diplomat,” Ms. Cisneros added. “He was very clear about his objective from the very beginning.”

He joined the foreign service not long after he graduated in 1970, with postings in Belgium, El Salvador and the United States, where he earned a master’s degree in international affairs at American University in Washington.

He was later appointed ambassador to Algeria, and then to Argentina, where he was posted when Hugo Chávez was elected president in 1999. Mr. Chávez would go on to consolidate power under the banner of a socialist-inspired revolution.

Mr. González returned to Venezuela in 2002 and soon retired from the foreign service.

In 2008, he became active in a coalition of opposition parties called the Democratic Unity Roundtable, advising behind the scenes on matters of international relations.

He became president of the coalition’s board of directors in 2021, said Ramón Guillermo Aveledo, a former executive secretary of the coalition.

But most people, even in Venezuelans political circles, did not know he held that role until his presidential candidacy was announced because opposition leaders often face persecution.

That makes it a risky decision for Mr. González to step into the spotlight against an incumbent bent on retaining power.

“I’m nervous because we don’t know if something could happen to us,” Ms. López de González said.

Those who know Mr. González say mounting a presidential campaign is not something he would take on lightly.

“He is an extremely balanced man, calm, quite serious and above all sober,” said Ramón José Medina, who headed the Democratic Unity Roundtable until 2014 and has been a friend of Mr. González’s for decades.

Mr. Maduro signed an agreement with the opposition in October to take steps toward free and fair elections, and the United States temporarily lifted some severe economic sanctions as a gesture of good will.

Days later, a former national lawmaker, María Corina Machado, won a primary election with more than 90 percent of the vote, making her a significant threat to Mr. Maduro in a head-to-head matchup.

Since then, the Maduro government has thrown up roadblocks to prevent a serious challenger from making it onto the ballot.

First, the country’s top court disqualified Ms. Machado in January over what the judges claimed were financial irregularities that occurred when she was a national legislator — a common tactic used to keep viable competitors off the ballot.

Then last month, the government prevented an opposition coalition from putting forward another preferred candidate using technical electoral maneuvers just before the registration deadline.

Only one politician, Manuel Rosales, who was seen by political analysts as greenlit by Mr. Maduro, was allowed to register. It briefly seemed that the effort to field a unified candidate had been defeated.

But, in a surprise, the coalition announced that the national electoral authority had granted it an extension, paving the way for Mr. González to officially enter the race. Mr. Rosales stepped aside and threw his support behind Mr. González.

Mr. González’s career as a “consensus seeker” helped him to unite the opposition, Mr. Gunson said.

“He’s someone that is acceptable to a lot of different people,” he added. “And he doesn’t offend anybody.”

Those qualities also may make it more likely that the Maduro government would cede power to him if he were to win, said Tamara Taraciuk Broner, an expert on Venezuela for the Inter-American Dialogue, a research organization in Washington.

Mr. Maduro, experts said, might be willing to concede defeat if he were granted amnesty for human rights abuses and if his party were given a continuing role in the country’s political system.

On this front, Mr. González has been more conciliatory than other candidates. Ms. Machado has said that Mr. Maduro and members of his administration should be held criminally responsible for corruption and human rights abuses.

Mr. González has said in interviews that he is open to talking with the Maduro government to ensure a smooth transfer of power.

“His main challenge is going to be maintaining that balance between keeping the opposition in line behind a unified candidacy and making sure that his candidacy does not pose an unbearable threat to the regime,” Ms. Taraciuk Broner said. “And that’s a very fine line.”

One poll already shows him defeating Mr. Maduro, though the survey also shows that about one-third of respondents said they were not sure whom they would vote for and that roughly 20 percent said they would not vote for any candidate in the race.

Mr. Aveledo said he was hopeful that Mr. González could win over Venezuelans in the coming weeks.

“Finally, someone who speaks with serenity, with moderation, who thinks about problems and solutions, who speaks without shouting, without insulting,” he said. “Because the country is very tired of conflict.”

2024 Wells Fargo Championship predictions, expert picks, odds, field rankings, golf best bets at Quail Hollow

A former pga championship venue represents the final chance for players to get right before the year's second major.

xander-schauffele-usatsi.jpg

The 2024 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club is the final stop on the PGA Tour calendar before players shift focus to the PGA Championship. Boasting signature status for the second straight year, the Wells Fargo Championship will welcome 69 of the top players the PGA Tour has to offer, all of whom should be around for the weekend with no cut at the 36-hole mark.

Headlining the field is the man who has seemingly done no wrong at Quail Hollow throughout his career: Rory McIlroy. The world No. 2 arrives fresh off his 25th PGA Tour victory alongside Shane Lowry at the Zurich Classic. With the Masters now behind him, McIlroy hopes to continue running downhill and should have a great chance to do so given his history at this venue.

Three times a winner at Quail Hollow, including his first ever back in 2010, McIlroy must love his chances. Another player to love his chances this week is the defending champion Wyndham Clark. This time last year, Clark was without a PGA Tour victory and hardly a household name. Oh, how the times have changed.

The reigning U.S. Open champion is now among the best in the world and has consistently factored in these signature events with a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and close calls at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship and RBC Heritage. While Clark fell short to world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in all three of those instances, he and the rest of the field need not worry about the top man in the sport as he remains on the sideline awaiting the birth of his first child.

Scheffler's absence could give way for a number of players experiencing a drought of their own with names like Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele and Cameron Young among them. This crop of top talent hasn't entered the winner's circle in a couple of years and hope to change that this week.

Masters contenders like Collin Morikawa and Max Homa should find themselves in the picture this weekend as well, while others like Viktor Hovland and Will Zalatoris search for a little bit of form.

2024 Wells Fargo Championship schedule

Dates:  May 9-12 |  Location:  Quail Hollow Club — Charlotte, North Carolina Par:  71 |  Yardage:  7,558 |  Purse:  $20,000,000

2024 Wells Fargo Championship field, odds

  • Rory McIlroy (7-1): I wouldn't say he is in top form, but he is getting closer. In what has been described by some as a sluggish start to his 2024, McIlroy has picked up two worldwide wins, two other podium finishes and five other top 25s in 11 starts. His driver continues to set up his iron play which has flashed brilliance at times. His scoring clubs and short game need to get a smidge more consistent to feel really good about his chances next week at the PGA Championship, but that could happen this week at Quail Hollow where he has three wins.
  • Xander Schauffele (10-1)
  • Wyndham Clark (16-1): The term "big-game hunter" gets tossed around a ton, but it is beginning to describe Clark. The 30-year-old has made his hay at signature events this year with a win at Pebble Beach and podium finishes at Bay Hill, TPC Sawgrass and, most recently, Harbour Town. In his six other events, Clark has not registered a top-20 finish. He's the defending champion and must be considered on this stage.
  • Patrick Cantlay (18-1)
  • Collin Morikawa (22-1)
  • Max Homa (22-1): Homa is twice a winner of this tournament but only once at Quail Hollow; he picked up his first career victory here in 2019 and won on a rain-soaked TPC Potomac in 2022. Homa has since added a T8 to his résumé last year and arrives with a world of confidence following his podium finish at the Masters -- his best major championship result. He's got the entirety of his game cooperating, has found success at this golf course and similar difficult venues and is among the best closers in the game.
  • Justin Thomas (25-1):  A fast finish in Hilton Head saw Thomas grab his first top five since The American Express in January. Since then, the two-time PGA Championship winner has flashed some high-quality golf, some low-quality golf and a little in between. He has been inconsistent as his iron play has stalled slightly and the putting continues to pose a problem. He's fared well at Quail Hollow in his career (namely his 2017 PGA Championship victory).
  • Tommy Fleetwood (28-1)
  • Viktor Hovland (28-1): We haven't seen the reigning FedEx Cup champion since an ugly missed cut at the Masters. Quail Hollow should be a perfect golf course for Hovland given his driving acumen, but there are a ton of question marks swirling around his game at the minute. His ball-striking numbers have taken a dip in 2024 and his around-the-green presence -- which was so improved in 2023 -- has reverted to the norm ranking last on the PGA Tour this season.
  • Hideki Matsuyama (30-1)

The Top 10 Rental Markets Where College Grads Can Find an Affordable Home, a Great Job, and Lifestyle Perks

If you’re a recent college grad trying to figure out your next move, Austin, TX, might be just the ticket.

According to a new report by Realtor.com® , this city was ranked the top spot for recent college graduates based on the bounty of job opportunities as well as affordability—particularly for housing.

If you’re like most students, money matters a lot right now. The Department of Education says that at the end of 2023, the average federal student loan debt was a whopping $37,090 per person. Spread across a total of 43.2 million borrowers, that’s about $1.6 trillion in debt.

“For recent college graduates burdened by student loan debt, understanding the importance of crafting a sensible housing budget is paramount,” says Jiayi Xu , the Realtor.com economist who wrote this report.

“This involves meticulously calculating a realistic rental budget based on income, while factoring in essential monthly expenses such as student loan payments, utilities, groceries, transportation, and other necessities. The rule of thumb is to spend no more than 30% of gross income on housing expenses.”

But the price tag isn’t the only thing that matters when you’re looking for a new home base. A rock-bottom rent in the middle of nowhere, with no job prospects (and no cute cafe to perch with your laptop and matcha latte), isn’t going to fly, either.

To find the best places for college grads that offer the whole package—affordable housing, plenty of jobs, and a thriving cultural/social scene—we ranked 313 cities and towns with a population of more than 75,000 located within the 50 largest metros on the following factors in terms of what makes a great first-time rental:

  • Rental affordability , estimated by rent-to-income ratios for renters between 25 and 34 years of age
  • Rental availability , estimated by vacancy rate
  • Number of job opportunities , based on online job availability data
  • Job market opportunities available to recent college graduates
  • Job stability , estimated by the forecasted unemployment rate—since no one wants to get laid off after a few months on the job
  • Share of recent college graduates in the city so you can find and hang with your peers
  • Average commute time to work, since not everyone is working from home or hybrid
  • Lifestyle , since you want to be sure there is an interesting selection of restaurants, cafes, bars, stores, theaters, comedy clubs, and art classes in the hood

The top 10 rental markets for freshly minted college grads are as follows, according to the Realtor.com report:

Rent-to-income ratio: 21.4% Share of college grad-friendly jobs: 29.6% Average commute time: 26 minutes

This Texas city is known as a tech hub that’s more affordable than Palo Alto, CA, with all sorts of lifestyle perks.

The perks include the buzz of the annual SXSW festival, a fantastic music scene year-round, a foodie paradise, and gorgeous nature to explore by foot, bike, or kayak.

All of these factors make Austin the top rental spot in our report.

(Realtor.com)

Bloomington, MN

Rent-to-income ratio: 19.9% Share of recent college grad-friendly jobs: 26.7% Average commute time: 23 minutes

Yes, Bloomington has real winters, but for some people (skiers, snowboarders, and ice skaters), that’s a real plus.

More reasons to love this Midwestern town: career opportunities (The Toro Company, Ceridian, and HealthPartners call it home), rentals that won’t bust your budget, and fun attractions to explore, including the Japanese Garden and the ginormous Mall of America.

top tour venezuela

Pittsburgh, PA

Rent-to-income ratio: 21.7% Share of recent college grad-friendly jobs: 24.9% Average commute time: 25 minutes

Lots of jobs, low rents, the Steelers , and a fantastic bar and arts scene—what’s not to love about Pittsburgh? Plus, the presence of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon gives the town a young vibe.

Crisscrossed by multiple bridges over its many waterways, this city of just over 300,000 can be a great place to put down roots after college.

top tour venezuela

Raleigh, NC

Rent-to-income ratio: 21.4% Share of recent college grad-friendly jobs: 28.8% Average commute time: 25 minutes

Raleigh often earns honors as a great place to live after getting your degree.

The average temperature of 71 degrees doesn’t hurt, but the fact that the town is a tech hub, with a buzzing job market, and has readily available housing at a nice price goes a long way, too.

There are loads of free museums to explore, a 75-acre farmers market, and live music galore.

top tour venezuela

Overland Park, KS

Rent-to-income ratio: 20.7% Share of recent college grad-friendly occupations: 24.5% Average commute time: 22 minutes

With its middle-of-America location, this midsize city is a fun, friendly place to start your adult life without feeling strapped for cash.

Overland Park gets high marks for its job prospects, dining scene, and, for those contemplating having kids sooner rather than later, a top-notch school system.

top tour venezuela

Richmond, VA

Rent-to-income ratio: 24.6% Share of recent college grad-friendly jobs: 25.8% Average commute time: 24 minutes

Richmond is enjoying a renaissance and has been attracting recent grads in droves. It’s affordable, progressive, and strategically located on the East Coast, close to beaches and mountains.

In addition to job opportunities, you’ll find a walkable downtown, history around every corner, award-winning restaurants, and vibrant nightlife.

Some like it hot, and if that’s you, Scottsdale can be a great postgrad home base.

This Arizona city is home to many hospitality, finance, health care, aviation, and tech companies, and job opportunities are plentiful.

Plus, it’s a natural paradise and known for being one of the country’s best places to tee off. If you’re a golfer, moving here is a no-brainer.

Beaverton, OR

Rent-to-income ratio: 22.9% Share of recent college grad-friendly jobs: 25.8% Average commute time: 26 minutes

The home base of Nike, Beaverton is known for being close to Portland but more livable.

Well-priced rentals , a solid job market, and a thriving cultural scene make it a favorite spot for new grads hoping to call the Pacific Northwest home.

You’ll find amazing parks and trails, plus fantastic Indian and Japanese restaurants to try.

St. Louis, MO

Rent-to-income ratio: 21.7% Share of recent college grad-friendly jobs: 24.7% Average commute time: 25 minutes

With its low cost of living and hot job market (everyone from Enterprise Rent-A-Car to Ascension Health Alliance is based here), St. Louis earns high marks with new grads.

With a median rent of just over $1,000 in many parts of the city and a wealth of outdoor, dining, and shopping opportunities, it can be a great place to call home.

Atlanta, GA

Rent-to-income ratio: 26.7% Share of recent college grad-friendly jobs: 24.8% Average commute time: 28 minutes

We know, we know: You’re not supposed to call it “Hotlanta,” but it is.

This city of just under a half-million residents has a booming job market (in part due to its excellent transit infrastructure), low cost of living, and lots and lots of young people with college under their belt.

An array of industries (finance, tech, health services) are located here, and after a day’s work, you can blow off steam at one of its live music venues or nightclubs.

Why big cities aren’t always best for college grads

What you might notice about this list of best places for recent college graduates is that some of the usual suspects are missing. In the past, many new graduates would head for the biggest cities in the U.S. But with their often stratospheric costs of living, these aren’t the best bets for those who’ve just earned their degree.

“It’s notable that these top markets span all four regions of the U.S.,” says Xu. “However, none of them are located in traditional major cities like New York, San Francisco, or Los Angeles. Instead, cities like Austin, TX, are highlighted, with Austin ranking as the No. 1 city for recent college graduates.”

With the average rent in New York City costing around $3,700 for a mere 600 square feet, it’s understandable that recent graduates might think twice before heading into the heart of that city.

By contrast, this ranking of recent college grad-friendly markets has an average rent-to-income ratio of 22.5% for those aged 25 to 34, which is lower than both the national average of 29.7%. That, in and of itself, is a huge plus.

“Rental affordability remains a persistent challenge in the U.S. rental market, particularly for first-time entrants into the housing market ,” says Xu. ” It’s noteworthy that 9 out of 10 of the top markets are in relatively affordable metropolitan areas, boasting a rent-to-income ratio below the average of 26.1% among the top 50 markets.”

What’s more, they have a higher vacancy rate than the average, at 7.6% vs. 6.3%, meaning it shouldn’t be super stressful to find a place.

“Specifically, 7 out of 10 of the top markets are found in metros with higher rental vacancy rates,” says Xu. “This suggests a greater abundance of rental options to choose from and potentially grants first-time entrants greater bargaining power when negotiating with landlords.”

Beyond reasonable rents, plentiful properties, and a robust job market, these locations are perfect for recent grads because there are a lot of other young folks there. Our list-makers boast an average of 3.4% recent grads, while that age group typically makes up just 1.9% of the population.

So if you want to hang, network, have coffee, or play pingpong with your peers, these places make it easy.
