Skyline Corporation is one of America’s leading producers of manufactured housing and recreational vehicles. These products are built in plants located from coast to coast and marketed nationally through independent retailers.

Founded in 1951 in Elkhart, Indiana, Skyline initially produced the affordable housing units popularly known as house trailers or mobile homes. These units evolved into today’s manufactured housing. In 1960, Skyline opened its first travel trailer plant. During its 55-plus years of operation, Skyline has built more than 880,000 homes and 465,000 recreational vehicles (RVs), most of them travel trailers. Its sales over the years total in excess of $15.4 billion.

ORGANIZATION

Corporate headquarters, shown on the front cover, is in Elkhart, Indiana. It houses marketing services, accounting, information technology, engineering, product development, financial, legal, and other functions. Products are built by 21 operating divisions in 11 states from coast to coast. Of the 21 divisions, 16 produce housing and five produce RVs.

Skyline has operated in the black every year since it was founded. Its balance sheet is among the soundest in American industry with a strong cash position and no corporate debt. Skyline is publicly owned and its shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

HOUSING PRODUCTS

Skyline produces a wide range of manufactured and modular homes with price ranges to fit most budgets. Skyline homes are sold under a number of identifying names. The single-section manufactured homes emphasize affordability and frequently are sited in specially-developed manufactured housing developments. The multi-sectional and modular homes are also very affordable and in appearance they are indistinguishable from site-built housing. Many of the multi-sectional and modular houses are sited on conventional residential lots.

RV PRODUCTS

Skyline builds three types of towable RVs: conventional travel trailers, fifth wheel travel trailers, and park models. The principal brand names for these products are Nomad, Layton, Aljo, and Rampage. All Skyline RVs are UL Classified.

New 8 ply tires & rims including spare. Brand new battery. Brand new bed/couch. Easy layout with lots of storage inside and one compartment on the outside. Wood and ceiling in good condition, nothing leaks. Sleeps 5, back couch turns into double bed, kitchenette couch turns into double bed, cabinets above couch turn into a single bed (never tried it). Double stainless sink. Toilet is ceramic and should be upgraded for long term use. Water pump for kitchen sink works. Unsure about the water capacity possibly 10 gallons. Toilet is ceramic and should be upgraded for long term use. You could turn toilet into a shower combo if you want to spend the money. Water pump for kitchen sink works. Unsure about the water capacity possibly 10 gallons. Black water tank, there is a grey water line but no tank. 110V 12 volt battery. Medium sized fridge clean and works, microwave comes with. Mid sized wardrobe with some floor space for shoes etc... Lights all work. Small attached pull up awning for front window. Overall pretty clean but does need some work. Once had a recessed radio so there is a small hole between the cabinet and front window that is barely noticeable. Door needs to be adjusted slightly and deadbolt installed. Outside could use a paint job. Sold as is. Weighs about 1,200 lbs my 4 door Jeep pulls it fine.

Vintage Camper Renovation

 It never ceases to amaze me how talented people are at renovating their vintage campers. It just goes to show that you simply cannot judge a book (or travel trailer) by its cover. If you’re interested in bringing your vintage camper back to life, check out these stylish and budget-friendly ideas!

Check out what this RV owner did in just 2 short months with her 20ft 1974 Skyline Nomad.

Paint the RV Interior

The first (and fairly easy) step of any successful RV remodel is paint.  A fresh coat of paint makes everything old look new again! In this case, Afton used white paint and shiplap to create a bright, neutral palette for the interior of her camper.

Just a few quick notes on painting the RV interior :

• Preparation is key. Take the time to clean all surfaces well. Use something that will clean off all oils and residue.
• Always use primer. Primer is critical to creating a base for your paint to adhere itself to. This is especially important if you are drastically changing the wall color or painting over wallpaper. 
• Give each coat adequate time to dry. Peeling paint is often a sign that you didn’t allow each layer to dry before applying the next one. Also, lesson learned the hard way: peel all your painters tape off before the paint dries. Yes, you will have to use more tape for the next layer, but trust me, it is better than peeling away your hard work later.

Easy RV Mods: Countertop and Backsplash

Did you see that countertop? I love the warmth it adds to the room! Here are a few pointers to make this type of counter last as long as possible:

• Seal it thoroughly. Wood can gather germs, grow mold, stain, or even warp in shape when exposed to moisture. To counteract these unwanted effects, you’ll need to seal your butcher block countertops immediately following installation and on a monthly basis afterward.
• Don’t use it as a cutting board. Don’t chop directly on its surface. Knife blades can cause uneven wear on certain regions of your countertop.
• Watch this tutorial on making a countertop with flooring…genius!

Updated RV Flooring

Speaking of flooring… Did you know that replacing old flooring is one of the easiest ways of sprucing up the interior of your RV? If you want something that looks like wood, but without the weight, plank-style flooring can be a great option. Mountain Modern Life has a fabulous tutorial on how to do everything from prep through completion.

RV Furniture to Fit

Another thing I really love about this camper remodel is the furniture that fits (and doesn’t overwhelm) the space! And you don’t need to buy furniture made specifically for RVs or campers. You can shop at Ikea or even flea markets to find something unique that works for you.

Hello. We picked up a 1973 Skyline Golden Falcon which seems to be almost a twin to yours. Having a job finding replacement water tank and can't figure out the link to the manuel. We're in Arizona so now is the time of year to do work on it. Hoping to have it ready to take out by April.

We just bought the exact unit this past June.  I have been on the internet almost constantly trying to find any information on it. I was led to believe it was a Glendale, not a Skyline. We need the same material you did . How did the search go ?

There is a link up on top of the page for manuals. you may also enter the model in search bar up at the top of the page on the right hand side of the page. a lot of times folks will chime in with the info you seek.

So this post is 5 years old, but if you're still around, my wife and I picked up a '72 Nomad that has a bunch of manuals for the Dometic fridge, Coleman stove and a few basic Camper owner's manuals. In talking with some RV gurus, there aren't many standard, full-on, trailer hitch to tail light manuals in existence; Each one was a little different than the next, so I am told. So, we're just kinda figuring out as we go along. I'll happily share what I have, though. Shot you a friend request.

Iam looking for tailights for our 1982 Travelmate motorhome. They have 3 lenses and are surface mount. They were very common in the 70 and 80 not made anymore. Looking to purchase a pair.
