Bhorgiri village is a very small village. There are hills on the three sides of the village & one of the hills has a Bhorgiri fort and caves. Bhorgiri Bhimashankar Trek route is through dense jungle and provides many opportunities for nature lovers and particularly Photographers!!! One can see the state animal of Maharashtra Giant Squirrel, in a local language known as “Shekru.” In Monsoon this is the perfect trek for Beginners, Nature Lovers, and Photographers. It’s a plain Jungle walk of around 3 Hours which ends at “Gupta Bhimashankar”. One has to pass the Streams & waterfall to reach the Bhimashankar Temple.

09.00 am Reach Bhorgiri Village. Toilets are not available throughout the Trek & at Base Village.

The trek takes you through a dense forest, offering a beautiful natural setting. Follow the marked trail and climb uphill as you navigate through the jungle. As you approach Bhimashankar, you’ll enter the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to various wildlife species, including the state animals of Maharashtra, the “ Shekru ” (Indian Giant Squirrel).

After trekking for several hours, you’ll finally reach Bhimashankar. Visit the famous Bhimashankar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and seek blessings. The temple is a major pilgrimage site and attracts devotees from far and wide.

Bhimashankar Temple

The Bhimashankar Temple is a famous Hindu temple and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, which are considered to be the most sacred abodes of Lord Shiva.

Location: The Bhimashankar Temple is situated in the Sahyadri range of the Western Ghats at an elevation of about 3,250 feet (1,050 meters) above sea level. It is surrounded by lush green forests and scenic beauty, making it a popular pilgrimage site and a trekking destination.

Architecture: The temple is built in the Nagara style of architecture, which is typical of many ancient Hindu temples. It features intricately carved stone walls and pillars, with a prominent spire (shikhara) at the top. The temple complex also includes a large sabha mandap (assembly hall) and a small Nandi (bull) shrine.

Religious Significance: The Bhimashankar Temple holds great religious significance for devotees of Lord Shiva. It is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva took the form of Bhima, one of his fierce manifestations, to defeat the demon Tripurasura. The temple is visited by a large number of pilgrims, especially during the holy month of Shravan (July-August), and on Mondays and Shivaratri.

It is named after the Bhimashankar Temple, a famous Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is located within the sanctuary.

Covering an area of approximately 131 square kilometers (51 square miles), Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its rich biodiversity and lush greenery. It is home to various species of plants, animals, and birds, making it a significant ecological hotspot in the region.

One of the significant attractions in the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary is the Indian Giant Squirrel, also known as the “Malabar Giant Squirrel”. It is known for its vibrant and striking fur coloration, with shades of black, brown, and orange.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 pune > bhorgiri to bhimashankar trek > pune.

06:00 Once you reach your pick-up point, mark your presence with the SG-Trekkers representative. Then we will travel by private bus to the starting point of the trek.

07:30 – 08:30 An hour of breakfast and tea break. Resume the rest of the journey.

09:45 We arrive at the starting point of our trek i.e. Bhorgiri village. (Washrooms are not available.) Our field experts will provide pre-trek information and instructions to all participants.

10:00 – 14:00 Begin the trek towards Bhimashankar, following the trail through the dense forests. Trek through the scenic landscapes and enjoy the natural beauty along the way. Visit the “Gupta-Bhimashankar Temple” the oldest form of Bhimashankar temple. Continue on the trail, experiencing the beauty of the surroundings.

14:00 – 15:30 Reach Bhimashankar and visit the Bhimashankar Temple. Explore the temple complex and offer prayers. Take some time to relax and soak in the spiritual atmosphere.

15:30 – 17:00 A short drive of 5 km to the restaurant. Refresh yourself. (Washrooms are available) Let’s have a meal together. Served hot and tasty vegetarian food.

17:00 – 21:00 Start the journey back to Pune with very pleasant memories.

Trek to Bhorgiri-Bhimashankar

Basic Info: Bhorgiri village is a very small village. There are hills on the three side of the village. And one of the hills has Bhorgiri fort and caves. Bhorgiri to Bhimashankar trek route is through dense jungle and provides many opportunities for nature lovers. In Monsoon Bhorgiri to Bhimashankar trek is the perfect trek for Beginners, Nature Lovers, and Photographers. It’s a plain Jungle walk of around 3 Hours which ends at “Gupta Bhimashankar”. One has to pass the Streams & waterfall to reach the Bhimashankar Temple Difficulty Level: Moderate (If you are having kids with you, then you should be careful at some places during rainy season due to slippery area) Routes: If you are heading from Pune, you have to take old Mumbai Pune highway and head towards Chakan-RajguruNagar-chas kaman dam and then Bhorgiri. It usually takes 3.5 hrs. to 4 hrs. (depend on rain & traffic). Bhorgiri village which is the base village and Vehicles can be parked. Best time to visit: Totally recommended to be done in monsoons...!! The best time to visit is between August and February. Though any time of the year is good to visit Bhima-shankar, it is better to avoid visiting it during summer. Similarly, during monsoon, unless one likes trekking, it is better to avoid a visit. That leaves the best period to seven months between August and February. Other Info for trekking: If you travel in Monsoon then it would be a really memorable one. You may have your breakfast on your way (nearby Chakan/ Rajgurunagar) or you may carry some packed breakfast and have it near Chas Kaman dam. The view from the same point was amazing and the horizon could be seen till the mountain of Bhima-Shankar, which was our destination, among the Sahyadri's. After reaching the base village at around (preferably by 10.30 to 11 am) You may hangout an hour to see an ancient cave that had Mahalaxmi Mandir and Shiva Temple nearby Bhorgiri village if interested and then you may begin your trek towards the forests of Bhima Shankar. During rainy season, the rains might begin to pour down. Be cautious and be careful on the rocky portions, though there weren't many of them. Most of the trek included walking along a small trail in the jungle, lot of water puddles and around 3 streams of river to be crossed along. In-spite of this, it seemed a lot fun. Water puddles may not be wide enough, and we managed to cross holding our hands together especially if you have kids along with you. Particularly, the last hour of the trek is “a walk in a very dense jungle” and because of the fog, we could you may barely see around 300 m. The trek ended where the temple of Bhima Shankar starts, right beside it. It took us around 3-4 hours with intermittent breaks to reach temple. You may get snacks, tea/vadapav etc. outside the temple. About the temple: Bhima-shankar Temple is a Jyotirlinga and Bhima-shankar is also the source of the river Bhima, which flows southeast and merges with the Krishna river near Raichur. You may Google further details for same incase require. Things to carry for trek: A water bottle to carry at least 1 liters of water per person A raincoat if you are planning during rainy days Sport shoes with good holding grip Some dry food, in case you don’t find any suitable food stall etc. or for kids Do carry instant energizers like Glucon-D or Tang Better avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments. No need to carry heavy cash

And from the main temple took half hour to visit this small waterfall with a partially hidden shivaling. Good place to visit with friends

Best place to visit in raining season. I love this place at the time of rain, this place is a too cool place in rainy season you must visit at least once if you visit to Bhimashankar temple.

Bhimashankar base camp village can be reached from neral or karjat. It's approx an hour drive in sumo or omini. The way to the top is through seed ghat or Ganesh ghat. Ganesh ghat is a longer and much safer way to the top. Avg trekkers will take 5 hrs to the top. From there gupt Bhimashankar is about 40 mins of walk. Bhimashankar top has a very old lord shiv temple and the gupt Bhimashankar is a place where shiv ling is seen behind a waterfall. Little risky to stand beneath the waterfall. But worth it.

This is near to the famous bhimashankar temple but not everyone visits here. We had been here in monsoon and the experience walking down in the jungle was amazing.. Do go for it if you like trekking and jungle walk..

My first monsoon trek of 2017 happened to be a really memorable one. It was with a group called TrekDi adventures, led by Akshay as our group leader and Saif as the co-ordinator. The 8 of us, including our trek leader and co-coordinator started at around 6:00 AM (that too on a Sunday morning :P, which meant I had to get up around 4:30 and leave home by 5:15 AM) to the base village, called Bhorgiri which is a good 70 odd km's from downtown Pune.

We had breakfast on the way, at a shack near Chas Kaman dam. The view from the same point was amazing and the horizon could be seen till the mountain of BhimaShankar, which was our destination, among the Sahyadri's.

After reaching the base village at around 10:30, we took an hour's detour to see an ancient cave that had Mahalaxmi Mandir and Shiva Temple inside it, after a small climb of 20 mins to the hill adjacent Bhima River. That was where we had our intro round, and people really opened themselves up about what kind of adventures they'd done before and what brought them into trekking.

Then, finally at around 11:00, we began our trek towards the forests of BhimaShankar. The rains began to pour down mercilessly, as we climbed cautiously , specially careful on the rocky portions, though there weren't many of them. Most of the trek included walking along a small trail in the jungle, lot of water puddles and around 3 streams of river to be crossed along. In-spite of this, it seemed a lot fun.

Although water gushed thro' those streams them with a lot of speed, it wasn't that wide enough and we managed to cross holding our hands together, without the technical stuff.

Particularly, the last hour of the trek was a walk in a very dense jungle, and because of the fog settling in, we could barely see around 300 m visibility.

The trek ended where the temple of BhimaShankar starts, right besides it. It took us around 3 hours with intermittent breaks to finish the trek.

Lunch was arranged at a Hotel, in the middle of the market just outside the temple., along with chai as well :) Then, we went to the most exciting place of this trek.. The Nagphani Kada, which was a good 45 min walk + a little climb from the main area. The USP of this place is the view from it, although we only managed to get a glimpse due to the dense fog and the shape of the mountain that looks like the face of a Naag.

We spent a good 15 minutes over there, just chatting up and clicking a little snaps, and then finally began for our descend to the parking area of BhimaShankar. We were to board our bus from there itself instead of descending back to the base village.

Since it was on the same long weekend as that of Ganesh Chaturthi, although not much of trekkers on the way, there was a lot of crowd at the temple premises though. We started for our return journey at around 6:30 PM to reach around 10:30 at FC Road, which was our final drop point after having dinner at a roadside dhaba.

Overall, I would say it was a medium difficulty level trek, and overall the distance covered was around 17 - 18 KM's on foot, including visiting the temple and the detour to Nagphani Kada. A great monsoon trek that all of us enjoyed, being a small group and almost had a plenty on my checklist covered.

Bhorgiri Fort Trek

Bhorgiri Fort Trek is one of the lesser known forts located near the Bhimanshankar Wildlife Sanctuary in Pune district of Maharashtra, India. Rajgurunagar is the nearest town to this fort.

The history of this fort is not very well documented. Bhorgiri Fort Trek is well connected to the Konkan and Pune region. The fort was used for keeping a watch on the surrounding villages. Bhorgiri Fort trek is Medium grade and can be accomplished by trekkers new to the trail as well. The fort is situated in in the range of Bhimashankar Range of Pune District.

Bhorgiri Fort Trek is located near Bhimanshankar and the nearest town called to the starting point of the trek is Rajgurunagar. The fort hill is surrounded on both the sides by Bhima river and a small tributary of it. The backside of Bhorgiri village consists of two caves in the mountains. There are four supporting pillars on which the two water tanks are built on both sides of the caves. On the left side of the water tank there is a sculpture called the Nandi Sculpture and a Shiv Ling. There is a water tank called Satvahana, which is divided into three parts. The two parts having water filled in it and the third part is dried and Veerghal ( a memorial stone) kept in it.

Crossing a small stream we reach to the base of the fort. There are steps carved in stone at the last patch of the Bhorgiri Fort. The time required to reach the first cave from the base of the hill is approximately 5 minutes. Move fowrards by keeping the route of the hill on the left-hand side and the valley on the right-hand side. Climb until you reach the summit of this fort. While trekking the fort on the left we come across a water tank that is in ruins. A ruined stone Sculpture is painted with vermillion. The route from the doorway rises to the Bhimashankar region.

How to Reach

Trekkers from Pune need to drive on the Pune-Nashik Highway. A small Diversion to the left after crossing Rajgurnagar takes you to the base village of the fort.

Trekkers from Mumbai can reach Bhorgiri through the Mumbai-Pune route. Drive from Talegaon to Shirgaon and there will be a diversion towards Bhimashankar and Rajgurunagar to Bhorigiri. The distance one has to cover is approx. 55kms.

Food: Pure Vegetarian Food will be served by Explorers. If you want Non veg. Food, you can take it at Extra Cost at Actual. Please take the Railway Food (Tea, Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner) in Proper time at Own Cost.
Medicine: Bring personal medicines, if any & the necessary things given in a list.
Railway Reservations: It is not possible for Explorers to ensure that the Participants will get Railway Reservations together or in the same compartment because of random seat allotment by Railway Computerized System.
Transport & Jungle Safari: For Jungle Safari six people can travel in a Gypsy, but it is not sure that same Group / Family can travel in a same Gypsy. If any Natural Calamity or Technical problem results into late or Safari get cancelled then Explorers or the leaders of Explorers are not responsible for same & in that case No refund is admissible.
Jungle Safari Zone: For Jungle Safari Explorers will choose the Safari zones as per the availability. We are not giving commitment of any specific zone Safari.
Room Allotment: In case of Odd number of Participants or Male / Female Ratio, It is not possible for Explorers to ensure that same Group / Family will accommodate in a same Room. TWO Persons on Bed & TWO persons will be provided by Mattresses, Blanket, Pillow, etc.
Hot Water: In Early Morning Warm Water will be served for Refreshment & in Afternoon Hot Water for Bath.
Drinking Water: Mineral Water Bottles will not be provided by the Explorers throughout the Tour.
During the Camp all the participants should obey all the instructions and decisions taken by the authorised representative of Explorers or Camp Leader.
During any type of event, in case of any dispute for whatsoever reasons, the decision of the Camp Leader or authorized representative of Explorers shall be final and binding on all the participants. The Participants shall be solely liable for the risks, responsibilities and consequences.
Medical Treatment: In case of any medical ailments, a disorder etc. which the participants are suffering or have suffered from, it is his/her responsibility to inform the organisers in advance, before commencement of the camp or trek. If required, the participant(s) will have to take medical treatment from the doctor / attendant available on the campsite or from the nearest available medical centre or hospital. The expenses for all medical treatment and arrangements for the same will be solely borne by the participant ONLY. The Camp Leader or the authorised representative shall have complete discretion to continue the camp without the participant(s) suffering from medical problem.
Photographs or Video Clips: Explorers reserves the right to use Photographs / Video Clips of the tourist taken on tour and / or given by tourist, for promotion of the Company’s Business without obtaining prior permission of the concerned tourist.
Consumption of liquor, tobacco products, cigarette etc. is strictly prohibited during any type of Event. The trek will be considered over only when we are back to our decided arrival place.
Participants should not deface or damage any monument by writing or scribbling on them. Any breach of the above two rules will be taken seriously, and will be removed from the trek or camp, and no refund is admissible in such cases.
In case of any injury, sickness, accident, death or any other casualty or loss or damage of valuables or luggage or any equipment; Explorers, it’s instructors, organisers, volunteers or any other person involved wholly or partially, either individually or jointly, shall not be responsible in any manner for the same and no claims of the participants, parents, guardians, relatives or friends of participants will be entertained.
If the participants have enrolled for the activities like wildlife camping or any type of adventure sports activity, then all the risks and responsibilities related to and arising from such activities shall be solely upon such participants and Explorers shall not be liable in any manner whatsoever.
Insurance: Neither participants nor any event shall be insured by Explorers, unless mentioned specifically.

Food stay is good Peaceful resort nice view of resort Staff is so co-operative

Nice property in Ekta Nagar. Have ample of space to play for kids. There is big garden with play area and swimming pool. This is Pure Veg Property. Food is good. Jain food is also very good. Rooms are neat and clean. We stayed in a room with private garden. There is also outdoor seating in every cottages. In night there is very good lightings. Easy to go to statue of Unity from this resort.

We stayed at this property 1 night, very near to the bus services which take you to the statue of unity. The room nice was small but decent. Breakfast was decent. play area and swimming pool were thoroughly enjoyed by my daughter. They helped us search my husband earphones. Overall wonderful experience

Gujarat is known for its diverse wildlife and this tour package allowed me to explore the various national parks and sanctuaries in the state. The tour started from Mumbai, where I was picked up from the airport by a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, providing us with interesting facts about Gujarat and its wildlife during the long drive to our first destination, Gir National Park. Gir National Park is the only place in the world where you can spot the majestic Asiatic lions in their natural habitat. We were fortunate enough to see a pride of lions lounging in the grassland, just a few feet away from our jeep. It was an exhilarating experience to see these rare and endangered species up close. Next, we visited the Velavadar National Park, which is home to the blackbuck antelope, Indian wolves, and a variety of bird species. The park is known for its large population of blackbucks, and I was lucky enough to witness their graceful movements and beautiful coat patterns in person. Other highlights of the tour included a visit to the Little Rann of Kutch, where we saw the endangered Indian wild ass, and the Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary, which is a paradise for birdwatchers. We also had the chance to go on a jeep safari in the Banni Grasslands and see the unique wildlife and landscapes of this region. Because of this phenomenon, the place has got its name” Jhulta Minaret” which translates to Swinging Minaret. This architecture is 500 years old and is a part of Sidi Bashir Mosque. The curiosity to know the physics behind these minarets is not new. It is believed that one Englishman almost took down these two minarets to get to the root of the mystery.

I Binged Conan O’Brien Must Go, And I’m All In For More Seasons Of The Max Travel Show

I don’t know about you, but I feel like we’re in an odd moment for comedy. Rarely do belly laughs come from movie theater trips in the streaming era, and one really has to scroll … and scroll some more for something funny to watch among all those various services. But this past weekend, I found myself in a four-hour hole of hilarity thanks to Conan O’Brien’s new Max travel show , Conan O’Brien Must Go , and I need more seasons of the new series stat!

When it comes to the current late night TV roster of hosts , I find we are sorely missing the absurdity of Conan O’Brien following him saying goodbye to his TBS show in 2021 . Over the years, like so many, I’ve become a regular listener of his podcast Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend , especially for all the improvised debauchery he and his co-hosts get into between the celebrity interviews. Conan O’Brien Must Go is kind of the perfect marriage between Conan being good ol' Conan and being a natural progression from where he’s at in his career right now. Let me talk more about why Max needs to pay for Conan to travel to more of the world and give us more seasons of the new show.

It’s A Treat To See Conan Outside Of His Talk Show Element

Conan has accomplished a lot in his career thus far! The 61-year-old was a late night host for nearly 30 years, and he’s in an exciting era right now with his successful podcast. While Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend is a welcome new energy for the host to get out of his suit and tie and get deeper with his guests, some of my favorite things about the host have always been the fun in-between segments he used to do outside of the typical talk show portions.

I always enjoyed when Conan would go out in the world with a guest or someone from his staff and do something random, like when he and Billy Eichner joined Grindr or when he visited the American Girl store . Conan O’Brien Must Go feels like it builds upon this strength of Conan’s, which we don’t get to see much anymore, except when he’s traveling around the world. While I think Conan is great at conducting good interviews, it’s nice to see him get out of that groove and do something completely different. It shows that a TV personality like him can adjust to the streaming era without operating under the constraints of it.

Conan O’Brien Must Go Lets The Master Improviser Run Wild

Whether Conan goes to a real Viking town to learn their ways in Norway, gets Tango lessons in Argentina, learns a song in Thai to guest on a TV show there, or goes looking for Bono nature documentary-style in Ireland, he always finds some fun and awkwardness to entertain the cameras. It made me realize the beauty of Conan is his unhinged personality and how others react to it. He’s a master improviser who knows how to make people chuckle, get uncomfortable or, honestly most of the time, get other people to make fun of him.

I watch travel shows from time to time, but going on a trip with Conan O’Brien is something else because it’s purely for the fun of it. You can go in empty-headed without learning anything about different countries. It’s truly just funny and it gives Conan the atmosphere to deliver some fun comedy just out of the random situations he finds himself in. There’s an authenticity to that kind of comedic style that I really enjoy. So much comedy these days feels like forced jokes and dialogue, so I appreciate the raw amusement the former late night host brings to the world (literally).

Involving Real Fans Is Actually Genius

Aside from Conan getting to run around the map with his winning personality, one dimension of the show I especially enjoyed was how it tied into his podcast. On Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend , there’s a segment where the hosts speak to fans all over the world, and it’s always delightful. In Conan O’Brien Must Go , Conan took his need for budding friendship a step further by going across the country to visit some of the guests on his show and hang around with them in their daily lives. This particularly worked swimmingly in the Norway episode, where he ends up contributing to a rap track for a Norwegian duo and spends the day on a fish farming boat.

I also liked that he came to visit these podcast guests not necessarily to help them in a massive way, but to accompany them on a unique journey. Another fun one was when he guests on one fan’s Argentinian radio show. When the fan asked if he was giving him a makeover, he clarified that wasn’t on his list, but he did give some hilarious free advice on how to implement ads to the show. In addition, the moments where Conan was either just talking on the street with random locals or learning about the unique customs of a country were quite hilarious as well.

Four Episodes Was Simply Not Enough

While getting four episodes of Conan O’Brien Must Go was simply delightful, I would watch so many more episodes of Conan meeting fans around the world to go rock climbing with them or have them make murals of him with the Pope. I could even see Conan taking the series a step further by inviting some famous friends on his excursions as well. I would even watch Conan O’Brien Must Go in a stateside setting where the comedian simply meets people around the USA to be part of their lives for a day, or help them out with a small request.

Mastercard launches mobile virtual card app to simplify travel and business expenses

HSBC and Westpac to unlock the convenience, security and efficiency of tap to pay transactions

Mastercard announced a new mobile virtual card app that enables virtual commercial cards to be seamlessly added to digital wallets. The innovative app is designed to offer financial institutions more choice in how they deliver the secure and sustainable contactless payment solutions that companies increasingly expect.

For over a decade, Mastercard has pioneered virtual card solutions to simplify tedious expense report and reconciliation processes for employees, contractors, recruits, and consultants who often use personal cards or cash for reimbursable business expenses. As companies navigate changing payment preferences particularly from the entry-level workforce – with over two-thirds of millennials having adopted digital wallets 1 – mobile technology is unlocking the next frontier of convenient contactless payments.

The app leverages Mastercard’s innovative virtual card and tokenization platforms, enhanced data, and robust spend controls all within one easy-to-use interface. Accessing Mastercard mobile virtual cards is made seamless through the app so users can quickly experience the benefits of tap to pay. Mastercard mobile virtual cards can be used by organizations spanning a range of sizes and industries – including healthcare, insurance, fleet, higher education, and corporate travel.

Key capabilities and benefits of Mastercard’s mobile virtual card app include:

Increased security : The app offers the ability to set up a biometric authentication and an added security measure using a PIN to view card details. Each virtual card is also tokenized, enabling the cardholder’s sensitive data to be replaced by a unique card number so sensitive account details are not exposed.
Robust spend controls: Organizations can confidently stay compliant with expense policies using Mastercard’s transaction-level controls, which limit how, where, and when a mobile virtual card can be used.
Flexible integrations: Financial institutions can quickly get to market through Mastercard’s user interface or flexible API-based integrations, and offer unique features such as customized card art.
Holistic and seamless payment experience: The app provides a single interface to check the status of card balances and view pending and completed transactions, and is bank-agnostic, enabling users to access and manage virtual commercial cards issued by multiple participating financial institutions.
Real-time and enhanced data: For each mobile virtual card created, custom data elements are automatically captured and matched to the transaction, providing organizations with increased insights into spending and automatic reconciliation to optimize back-office processes.

HSBC Australia and Westpac will be the first financial institutions to offer organizations and corporate customers mobile wallet functionality through the Mastercard app.
