My husband and I decided to splurge and go for the Tanzanite Tour which turned out to be pretty great! We went to two places, our first stop was Texas Wine Collective and The Edge. My favorite was TWC, they paid attention to us and were very helpful. The second location they were not so attentive and our tour guide was irritated and we could all tell. Our tour guide was Ron and he was wonderful. He made sure we were taken care of and helped. I would absolutely book this again when I come back. I will definitely request Ron because he was wonderful. Thank you Ron! You were not only a very knowledgeable tour guide but you also got us incredible service! He took us to Western Edge Restaurant at the end which was decent. I would do this all over again!
Ron driving our van to the next destination
Our tour group...great times!
Leeland was our driver for the day & he was amazing! Well versed in the history of Frederickburg, very personable. We chose the Diamond tour which had 4 stops. We stopped by Kalasi, Texas Wine Collective, Baron's Creek, & lord help me, I can't remember the 4th winery. It was a wonderful time. I definitely recommend them if you're in Fredericksburg.
I've lived in South Texas for the past 10 years and have taken my fair share of wine tours. Majesty Tours was by far the best group I've used! Gary, our driver, was timely, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. He was so attentive to our group, always checking on us to make sure we were taken care of. Majesty scheduled all of our tastings and lunch, making it an easy day. Thanks Gary and Majesty for making our group trip such a fun time (despite the rainy weather)! I look forward to booking again soon.
Thank you Majesty Tours! Ronnie went above and beyond taking care of us. He was very understand, we had a couple last minute plan changed. Our whole trip was totally customizable. The vans were very clean and comfortable. Thanks again for a great relaxing weekend in the hill country!
Love love love these people. Great business. KK and Kelly have an awesome tour company. We have used them for over 10 years now. Because of them we have visited over 23 wineries. Always a great time!
Tour was amazing! Ron was very professional, fun and easy to talk to. He gave great advice on other things to do and places to go. We did the Tanza Nite tour with dinner at the end of the night. The restaurant was Western Edge Cellars, I did not like Western Edge Cellars. There was only salad and appetizers for the meal. They were out of slot of the wines we requested.
To be honest, I was a bit nervous when I booked this. The Ruby Tour includes three wineries - you don't find out where you're going until they pick you up. That's what made me nervous. Alas, fear not! We had a great time. The wineries they selected for us (Slate Mill Collective, Kalasi Winery, and Baron's Creek Winery) offered very different experiences, each of which we enjoyed. We were not rushed at any of the wineries, and our driver was very knowledgeable about each of our stops. I would book this tour again - highly recommend!
My best friend and I spent a weekend in Fredericksburg and we booked the Diamond package through this tour company. They picked up/dropped off right at our Airbnb, but you can also get picked up from their office on Main Street. I did wish we were able to pick which wineries we got to visit, but the 4 we got to visit were great. Leland was a fantastic tour guide! He's so personable and really made our day memorable. The restaurant we had lunch in was next door to their office. It wasn't super amazing, but it fine for the price that was included in our package. We were also provided with a charcuterie box in the evening, which hit the spot. This was the most cost-friendly tour in Fredericksburg, and we both really enjoyed our time here!
On August 25, 2021, I booked a private tour for 5 on Saturday Oct 2. It included 4 winery stops, with lunch and tastings. We were flying in from San Francisco, Chicago and Omaha. Having never been to Fredericksburg, we looked for guidance on favorite stops. Whomever answers the phone for this company is unhelpful, rude, short and clearly hates her job. She offered no helpful advice and was put out with all of my questions. I kept the booking, we decided on our own stops, emailed as directed and received NO response as to whether they were able to book our winery selections. I NEVER did get them to respond to an email nor did they phone calls. 7 days prior to arrival, I left 4 voicemails and still no return call. THREE DAYS prior to arrival I received a call from this same b*tchy lady now telling me our drivers wife had Covid and we had 2 options...cancel or join a group tour of 18-20 (but she could not tell me which wineries we would visit). She finally confirmed we had reservations at our chosen wineries but we could NOT USE THEM and she was canceling them no matter we decided. (whaaat???)When I tried to negotiate to keep them if we found our own driver... SHE SAID 'I'M CANCELING YOUR TOUR' and she HUNG UP ON ME! That left us with nothing 3 days prior to arrival during Fredericksburg's busiest Oktoberfest weekend. Fast forward a few hours of scrambling to call wineries and drivers explaining this horrible Majesty Tours actions....We ended up at the same wineries with a very pleasant privately hired van driver and here is the best part.....Majesty's price was $1843 and we spent $897 DOING IT OURSELVES ( and this is an apples to apples comparison)! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are a huge rip off and are so rude and unprofessional. I could never get a hold of the owners but Fredericksburg people talk and I know they are sisters KK and Kayla. I hope you two read this and I wish you'd call me.
All is can say is read and look no further, this is the wine tour you should book!!! Absolutely adored this service! I am an avid yelp reviewer and honestly don't go anywhere before reading a review so you best believe I looked at all the tour options before booking this one. We purchased the sapphire tour and went to three wineries: English newsom (coolest winery I've ever been to), safari, and wildseed . The sprinter van we were picked up in was clean and Ronnie was a great driver. Lunch was delicious at one of the restaurants in town. Timing was perfect. Like I said don't look any further, this is the tour you should book! Loved it zero complaints.

Worth the wait? The Beatles’ farewell film ‘Let It Be’ hits streaming 54 years later: review
For years, decades actually, it was more like “Don’t Let It Be.”
But for the first time, The Beatles’ 1970 documentary “Let It Be” — which had never been available on DVD, Blu-ray or, basically, anything other than VHS — is finally available to stream on Disney+ this week.
Was it worth the 54-year wait?
Well, yes — and no.
Some context is needed here first: If you watched “The Beatles: Get Back” — the three-part, eight-hour docuseries directed by none other than Oscar-winning “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson that also premiered on Disney+ in 2021 — you’ve already seen a lot of this.
And seen it in the kind of exhaustive detail — from the same footage that Jackson used from “Let It Be” director Michael Lindsay-Hogg — that you can probably break down the level of scruffiness in Paul McCartney ’s faux-badass beard.
But thankfully — whether or not you’ve already watched the tedious-at-times “Get Back” — this is only 80 minutes versus eight hours of your time.
For anyone but the biggest of Beatlemaniacs, that math is math-ing.
But here’s the real difference: Whereas “Get Back” captured every bit of Liverpudlian shade, side-eye and Yoko Ono rock-blocking, this “Let It Be” is all about the music that was made in the slow fade of the Fab Four.
For most of this film — which documents The Beatles working out songs for what would turn out to be their final album, 1970’s “Let It Be,” in January 1969 — it’s just like being a little four-winged insect on the wall of those sessions at their Apple Corps headquarters in London.
Rehearsing, working out songs and just jamming — even with all the mounting tension which is actually more between McCartney and George Harrison than Sir Paul and John Lennon (for all those who still blame Ono for the Beatles’ breakup) — it’s a magical mystery tour behind the scenes of what many consider to be the greatest band of all time.
When McCartney and Lennon are in such easy harmony and camaraderie on “Two Of Us” — with the latter whimsically whistling on the outro — it’s as if it was the dynamic duo was meant to be forever.
And when McCartney sits at the piano, in unfiltered close-up, to deliver “Let It Be” — which he wrote, although it’s credited to his penning partnership with Lennon — the raw emotion and earnestness is real, as they all give in to the majesty of the music.
Although there would ultimately be no “answer” for The Beatles — who would officially split up by the time their final album was released in May 1970 — in that moment, they just let the music be.
And it’s a beautiful thing to see.
But the real beauty of “Let It Be” happens in its final stanza. That’s when the broken-down Beatles hit the Apple Corps rooftop for what was their first live performance since 1966.
“Get back to where you once belonged,” sings McCartney, those words sinking in deep as the London crowd gathers, many looking above from the street — while impeccably chic.
I mean, even the bobbies are styling.
In retrospect, “Don’t Let Me Down” turns into a desperate last plea to save their band of brothers.
But “Let It Be” fittingly ends with a bit of Lennon levity: “I hope we’ve passed the audition.”

From Majesty to Frailty: Why Are So Many Horses Breaking Down?
Our new documentary explores the underbelly of horse racing — and the systemic issues that have thrown one of america’s oldest sports into crisis..
What happens surrounding the 2023 Kentucky Derby this year is really bad. 12 horses died at Churchill Downs. People want to know why. When the money is on the line, there’s always going to be people looking to take an edge. It’s a win now culture and you see more horses dying. We got to get rid of all these drugs. Nobody believed anybody was going to jail for this behavior. This is the inflection point. If we don’t act, it may be too late.
‘Broken Horses’
Producers/Reporters Joe Drape and Melissa Hoppert Supervising Producer Liz Hodes
Watch our new documentary on FX and Hulu starting Friday, April 26, at 10 p.m. Eastern.
When horse racing fans arrive at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., next week for the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby, some might be watching with unease. On the same track last year, seven horses died before the showpiece event even started. In the days after, five more died.
Two other events in the sport’s Triple Crown series — the Preakness Stakes in May and the Belmont Stakes in June — and the signature meet at the historic Saratoga Race Course were also marred by deaths, horrifying spectators and intensifying pressure on racing officials to, finally, reckon with the problem.
“Horses dying in clusters is not a new phenomenon,” Joe Drape, a New York Times reporter, says in the new documentary “Broken Horses.” “It’s just now people are paying attention and want to know why.”
Drape and Melissa Hoppert, who have covered the horse racing industry for decades, were part of a team that investigated the fateful period last year that threw the sport into crisis and left fans wondering why so many horses, supposedly in peak physical condition, were breaking down so frequently.
With confidential documents, recordings and exclusive interviews, “Broken Horses” provides a vivid tour of the business and political forces that control the Sport of Kings and resist measures to implement changes that could decrease horse deaths. It is a story of reckless breeding and doping, of compromised veterinarians and trainers, and of fans who are drawn to the sport’s beauty and pageantry but increasingly wonder how long one of America’s oldest sports can continue to have its social license renewed.
“A racehorse is the only animal that can take a thousand people for a ride at once,” Hoppert says in the film, quoting a saying among the sport’s devotees. In 2023, a troubling number of those rides ended calamitously. “Broken Horses” attempts to show viewers the underbelly of the sport, so they can begin to understand why.

Few finance ministries wield as much influence over national affairs as Britain’s. Many advanced economies split responsibilities for tax, spending, and economic growth across departments, but His Majesty’s Treasury has all of these in its domain. This power has made it an easy scapegoat. In recent years its bean counters have been accused of imposing austerity after the financial crisis, and then spending wastefully during the pandemic.
Much of the blame is misguided . Politicians ultimately set the fiscal rules and policy agenda, not Treasury civil servants. In fact, a strong finance ministry is a feature, not a bug, of a well-functioning state. It needs to impose discipline on government spending to counter politicians’ predilection to overspend. Co-ordination is also needed as individual departments struggle to weigh their needs against broader government objectives. Still, some criticism of the Treasury is fair and calls for reform are justified. With significant, and often contrasting, economic objectives it struggles to get the balance right.
First, the Treasury’s growth mandate can often be usurped by its drive to make the books balance and ensure taxpayers receive value for money. This has been called “Treasury brain”: an overemphasis on near-term costs and benefits, and a hesitancy towards ambitious proposals that only pay off in the future. Insiders say the Treasury initially opposed an extension of the London Underground to Canary Wharf in the early 1990s — a project that ultimately ended up supporting the growth of London’s financial district.
Second, it has a tendency to micromanage. Its civil servants control how funding is allocated to departments and regions, as well as how underspends are used. This centralisation means other public bodies lack accountability and fail to develop internal financial management capabilities. Third, the Treasury’s close control over tax policy has led to charges of excessive secrecy. Indeed, withholding proposals for political purposes — such as “rabbit out of the hat” announcements at Budget time — undermines how affected departments set their plans.
So how should the Treasury be reformed? Some advocate splitting it into separate finance and economy ministries, similar to Germany and Japan . But reorganisations can be needlessly long and messy. A better approach would be to make the current arrangement function more effectively. Above all, the prime minister and their cabinet need to lay out a clear economic agenda — to help guide civil servants’ decisions over the parliamentary term — and co-ordinate its implementation across departments. Fiscal rules also need to be designed to discourage capital spending cuts to meet short-term needs . And, having fewer fiscal events would help encourage more strategic discussions about funding between the Treasury and departments.
Some internal changes are necessary, notably decentralisation. More powers should be devolved to other government departments. Their specific expertise makes them better at designing policy. Local authorities, which are similarly more responsive to regional economic needs, ought to have more revenue-raising powers. Budget allocation processes need to be more collaborative and transparent.
Putting the Treasury’s growth unit on a more equal footing with its budgetary functions would help to ensure that growth considerations — and the government’s strategy — are factored into tax and spend decisions. And, a better resourced Office for Budget Responsibility, which could more effectively score the impact of policy recommendations on long-term growth, would improve the Treasury’s accountability.
The department’s “penny wise, pound-foolish” tendencies need to be curbed by the next government. But it is even more important that the next prime minister can articulate and commit to a coherent strategy for it to implement.
