' src=

The Kelly Safari TSR is an all-terrain tire designed for SUVs, crossovers, and light trucks. This tire provides a balanced combination of on-road comfort and off-road capability.

The Safari TSR is well-suited for drivers who regularly go off-roading but still spend most of their time on paved roads.

It works well for activities like camping, fishing, hunting, and visiting cabins where you encounter dirt, gravel, and mud.

However, it’s not an extreme mud terrain tire made for rock crawling or other hardcore pursuits.

This Kelly tire aims to deliver responsive handling, a smooth ride, and long tread life. It features an all-season tread design to provide traction in dry , wet, and wintry conditions.

The Safari TSR is a great choice if you need an all-terrain tire but don’t want to sacrifice on-road manners.

With its rugged build, the Safari TSR works well for light trucks and SUVs that are occasionally driven off the beaten path.

The tread pattern on the Kelly Safari TSR tire is an all-terrain design that provides a good balance of on-road and off-road performance.

The tread features large, staggered blocks with wide grooves in between to help eject rocks and mud. The blocks themselves have sipes for extra grip on paved roads .

The prominent shoulder lugs give the tire good traction in mud , sand and loose gravel.

At the same time, the central blocks are designed to minimize road noise while providing stability and control on asphalt and concrete.

Overall, the tread pattern lets you comfortably drive on the highway to your favorite off-road spot.

Once off-road, the aggressive shoulder lugs and siped tread blocks grip reliably even on steep, loose terrain.

So you get a tire truly optimized for both on-road comfort and off-road adventures .

The Safari TSR tire performs very well in wet weather conditions, providing reliable traction and braking on slick roads.

Off-road, the Safari TSR shines as well. The chunky tread blocks dig into loose dirt, mud, and gravel to keep your vehicle moving forward.

The tire excels at climbing steep, muddy hills where many all-terrain tires struggle.

The braking and handling characteristics make the Safari TSR a very responsive, stable tire.

The large shoulder blocks provide lateral grip when cornering, reducing the chances of spin outs.

Hard braking is drama-free thanks to the sticky rubber compound and symmetric tread pattern.

Overall, drivers praise the precise steering feel and braking capabilities of the Safari TSR in dry, wet, and loose conditions.

Ride Comfort of Kelly Safari TSR

The Kelly Safari TSR tire shines when it comes to ride comfort. The tire design and materials used help minimize noise, vibration, and harshness for a smooth drive.

Compared to other all-terrain tires , the Safari TSR is surprisingly quiet at highway speeds.

The tread pattern is designed to limit noise on pavement. And the silica-enhanced tread compound also helps dampen noise for a quieter ride.

Users report minimal road noise, even after thousands of miles. This makes the Safari TSR ideal for those looking to limit noise in the cabin.

The Kelly Safari TSR effectively absorbs vibration thanks to its symmetric tread design and stiff internal construction.

By reducing bounce and vibration, it creates a stable feel over bumps and rough terrain.

The tire stays composed over washboard roads and rutted trails , while maintaining secure contact with the ground.

This noticeably cuts down on vibration and harshness transmitted into the cabin and chassis.

Overall, the Kelly Safari TSR has a positive impact on ride quality for both on and off-road driving.

The tires excel at absorbing imperfections in the road while resisting flex, enhancing comfort. The stable feel also inspires driver confidence.

Truck and SUV drivers report the Safari TSR rides smoother than expected from an all-terrain tire , making it a quieter, more comfortable choice for mixed on/off-road use.

The Kelly Safari TSR tire has proven to be quite durable according to customer reviews.

The tire features an impressive 80,000 mile treadwear warranty, meaning the tread is expected to last for 80,000 miles before needing replacement.

The tire’s construction uses a specialized tread compound and stiff casing design to improve treadlife.

Independent tests have shown the Safari TSR achieving over 50,000 miles before the tread depth legally requires replacement.

Owners of SUVs and light trucks report getting 65,000 to 75,000 miles on average before needing new tires.

Reviews of the Kelly Safari TSR praise its long-lasting tread. Many owners say they are impressed with how the tire wears evenly and delivers the promised mileage.

There are very few complaints about premature treadwear or unexpected flats, indicating a sturdy and damage-resistant construction.

The exceptional durability of the Kelly Safari TSR makes it a cost-effective choice that avoids frequent replacements.

Drivers can rely on this tire to last for the long haul thanks to its impressive treadwear warranty, construction quality, and proven owner experience.

The long treadlife and damage resistance add confidence and value for drivers doing serious offroading or highway miles.

The Safari TSR tire has a lower rolling resistance rating than the standard Kelly Safari tire, making it more fuel efficient.

Rolling resistance measures the energy lost as a tire rolls down the road , with a lower rating indicating less energy loss.

According to owner reviews on tires forums and retailer websites, the TSR provides a measurable improvement in fuel economy over the standard Safari tire.

Many drivers reported getting an extra 1-3 mpg with the TSR tires installed . This can add up to significant fuel savings over the life of the tires.

The lower rolling resistance comes from changes to the tread compound that make it less deformable and easier to roll.

Kelly also optimized the tire construction to reduce friction. While these changes make the tire roll easier, Kelly says it does not compromise on traction or braking performance.

Overall, the TSR is a great option for SUV and truck owners looking to improve their fuel efficiency without sacrificing on-road performance.

The owner feedback indicates the TSR delivers on its promise of improved fuel economy.

The Kelly Safari TSR tires have very competitive pricing, making them a great value buy compared to other all-terrain and all-season tires on the market.

They come in a wide range of common sizes from 15 to 20 inches.

The 15-inch tires retail around $100 per tire, while the larger 18-inch tires cost around $130-150 per tire.

The biggest 20-inch options range from $160-180 per tire . This puts the Kelly Safari TSR at the budget end of premium tire brands like BFGoodrich and Toyo, which can run $50-100 more per tire .

When compared to other cheaper off-road tires from brands like Ironman or Dynapro AT2s from General Tire, the Kelly Safari TSR is just slightly more expensive but delivers much better performance and durability.

Overall, it provides an impressive blend of quality, capability, and value at a very reasonable price point for an all-terrain tire . Most buyers find the extra cost worthwhile for the improved traction, comfort, and long tread life.

Kelley Safari TSR tires come with a manufacturer’s warranty that covers defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the tread.

This means that if the tire has a defect or fails prematurely due to materials or the manufacturing process, Kelly will replace it free of charge.

The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage from road hazards like punctures, cuts, or impacts from potholes or curbs.

It also does not cover improper inflation pressure, overloading, or misapplication like using the wrong size tire for your vehicle or rim.

To be eligible for the warranty, you need to have your tires installed according to Kelly’s recommendations and maintain proper tire pressure and vehicle alignment.

The tires must be rotated regularly as well.

One limitation is that the warranty only applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable if you sell the vehicle.

Also, you will need to have documentation showing proper maintenance and the original purchase receipt to make a warranty claim.

Overall the Kelly warranty provides good protection against early defects, but does not cover abuse, wear, or damage during use.

Following the proper care guidelines will help ensure you get the full life out of your Safari TSR tires.

  • Excellent off-road capability with good traction on various surfaces
  • Durable tire construction that offers an 80,000-mile treadwear warranty
  • Lower rolling resistance compared to the standard Safari tire , offering improvements in fuel efficiency
  • Competitive pricing positions the Kelly Safari TSR as a valuable option in the all-terrain tire market
  • Manufacturer’s warranty provides protection against early material and workmanship defects
  • Tends to generate more noise at highway speeds owing to its aggressive tread design
  • Less high-speed stability due to the large tread lugs
  • Fuel economy suffers slightly in comparison to touring tires

After reviewing the Kelly Safari TSR tire, it’s clear this model offers superb off-road traction and durability thanks to its aggressive tread pattern and sturdy carcass construction.

Drivers looking for an all-terrain tire that can handle mud, rocks, and other challenges will be well-served by the Safari TSR.

On the downside, the aggressive tread produces more road noise than a highway tire , and the large lugs reduce high-speed stability.

Fuel economy also suffers slightly compared to a touring tire .

The Safari TSR is best suited for off-road enthusiasts who spend most of their time on dirt, gravel, and uneven terrain.

It’s an excellent choice for overlanding vehicles, Jeeps, pickups, and SUVs that see regular off-road use.

Drivers looking for a blend of on-road comfort and off-road capability may want to consider the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 as an alternative.

The KO2 offers a quieter ride and better stability at high speeds while still providing impressive traction off-road.

In the end, the Kelly Safari TSR is a superb specialist tire focused on off-road performance . For drivers who spend more time off-road than on, it’s an excellent choice that delivers robust traction and durability.

Kelly Safari ATR Tire Review

Published: January 29, 2017

The Safari ATRs came on a Ford E-350 van I bought. I primarily use this vehicle for highway towing. The size I evaluated was LT275/75R16.

Dry grip of Safari ATRs seems good, I would say above average for an all-season pickup/SUV tire.

Grip on wet pavement seems very good, again I would say above average for an all-season pickup/SUV tire. Braking grip in particular seems to be outstanding.

One issue I have had with Safari ATRs in the beginning of my ownership of the van is the tendency of the vehicle to move sideways at speed. This was annoying in the dry and very troubling in the wet.

Somehow I have these stability issues with LT rated tires which to me is counterintuitive. I expect LT rated tires to have stiffer sidewalls than P rated tires, but perhaps I am mistaken or there is something else at play.

I think it took me about 5,000 and 10,000 miles to stop worrying about the van moving sideways. I have 20,000 miles on it now and thinking about this, the van still moves but I am used to it moving to where I now correct the course automatically and not worry about it. I think the sideways movement may be oscillative in nature such that applying minimal corrections tends to keep the vehicle roughly centered.

  • Snow Traction

Snow traction of Safari ATRs is acceptable. They do fine in a light snow film but not so well when the road becomes snow covered. Even so, at reduced speeds I felt good confidence in the tires' ability to keep the rig on the road. The tires were predictable in snow which is very important, and in street driving predictability is a decent substitute for outright grip.

  • Ice Traction

I have not had the tires on glare ice yet.

Too early to tell at this point but I have about 20,000 miles on the set so far and they are looking very good. I expect the tires to reach 80,000-100,000 miles of highway driving.

My front tires do have some inside cupping but this generally indicates a dead shock absorber rather than a tire issue.

For a vehicle to operate safely and effectively, it must have high quality parts. In particular, the tires play a critical role in ensuring safety and comfort in your driving experience. Most people will likely choose some tires because they are cheap and use more cash in tire repair or replacement due to their poor qualities. Personally, I would rather invest wisely in tires rather than correcting mistakes later on. As a matter of fact, being prudent in the initial purchasing decision of the tires will save you money and time.

Picking your tires requires just as much thought and time as when choosing your vehicle since there are a wide variety of tires sold globally. However, this can take a lot of work to determine the legitimate ones. Kelly tires are one of the most promising tires provided by the market. They should be the kind of tires to invest in because they are budget friendly and offer the quality you will need for handling and performance of the vehicles.

Additionally, one can find solutions with Kelly tires since its company sells tires in various weights, speeds, and sizes thereby giving you a plethora of choices to choose from. Therefore, most cars on the road can readily fit these tires. Since I started using the Kelly Edge A/S tires , one of the Kelly tire brands, on my truck, I have realized that my car has increased handling and performance and saved me a lot of money due to low tire repairs and replacement.

About Kelly Tires

In 1894, Arthur Grant and Kelly Edwin started the Kelly tire manufacturing company in Springfield, Ohio. Initially, Kelly Edwin named the company “the rubber wheel” since it was known to produce rubber carriage wheels. Due to the company’s thick rubber tire inside a rim channel, Arthur Grant received US patent 554675.

One of the country's first continuously running tire firms is Kelly-Tire Company, which Goodyear Tire acquired as a wholly owned subsidiary in 1935. The business holds the distinction of developing and producing thick rubber tires for early automobiles and carriages first before manufacturing tires for other vehicles. Additionally, The Kelly Tire Company commemorated its 100th anniversary in 1994 and was America's oldest tire manufacturer. After being bought by parent business Goodyear in the 1990s, it relocated its main offices to Akron, Ohio.

Kelly-Springfield currently produces at least 54 tires compatible with cars, farm vehicles, and trucks which it then sells to independent dealers and large retail chains across the US. Kelly-Springfield is the most significant producer of customized brand tires in the nation and one of the top makers of farm tires globally. The fact that it is able to produce tailor-made products makes it a popular choice for consumers.

Best Kelly Tires, Design Features, and their Performance

As we mentioned earlier, Kelly Tires is a manufacturer of specialized, high-quality tires renowned for being inexpensive and dependable. They can also be available for various vehicles, including high-performance, all-season, and winter tires, passenger vehicles, and light trucks. After taking thorough research on some reviews about the best Kelly tires, their design features, and how they perform under different terrains and weather conditions, I found the following tires to be in demand in the market:

Kelly Edge A/S Tires

Design features.

The tire has a few elements up its sleeve that help to improve handling and durability. It consists of a solid middle and shoulder block that ensures the vehicle is rigid and responsive toward different terrains. The thick blocks ensure that the tires have a long service life; therefore, you will not regularly repair or replace the tires due to early worn outs. The tires also have defined tread patterns that increase the grip and traction on different terrains and conditions.

Performance of Kelly Edge A/S Tires

The performance of the tires is a matter of paramount importance. You do not want tires that are going to inconvenience you on the road. This is more so when you decide to take an adventure in a faraway place.

The Kelly Edge A/S tires are typically created to offer traction because the tread helps evacuate water in wet road situations, especially in areas with a lot of water. Additionally, the lateral sipes send the water out of the sides while the circular grooves channel it beneath the tire. Therefore, it produces excellent resistance to aquaplaning.

Regarding the dry road setting performance, the tread patterns played a crucial role in providing the tires with a grip. A standard highway or a city is also secure since the vehicle needs stability due to increased grip and traction. With the tires, you can drive on standard highways and cities at reasonable speeds and maintain adequate stability.

When it comes to snowy and icy conditions, most all-season tires are known to perform poorly on snowy roads, but Edge A/S tires are designed to be effective in such situations. In light snow conditions, the tires move at reasonable speeds and can grip the ground to stabilize the vehicle. However, it can drive the car at low speeds in thick snow grounds.

Therefore, you must exercise caution while driving on thick snowy roads. When it comes to off-road, the tires also perform effectively due to thick sidewalls that provide the strength needed to resist any punctures. Additionally, the rubber compound has been well combined with other materials to increase the rigidity of the tires.

Final Verdict on Driving Quality

Kelly A/S tires are most effective in dry and off-road performance because of their defined tread patterns and rigid sidewalls. Even though it maintains an average performance on wet and snowy road conditions, it still outperforms other related tires in its category. Therefore, Kelly A/S tires are the tires to go for if you are a seasonal driver.

Kelly Edge HP Tires

The Kelly Edge HP tires represent durable, high-quality tires that provide all-season traction. It has an asymmetrical tread pattern and offers year-round traction in any given terrain and conditions. Additionally, its broad middle rib aids in ensuring that the vehicle handling and stability are excellent. The dependable shoulder blocks ensure the vehicle is stable even when taking corners at high speeds. The superior tread block sequence reduces noise so drivers can experience a quiet and enjoyable trip.

Performance of Kelly Edge HP Tires

When it comes to dry road performance, the Kelly Edge HP tires are one of the best because of their asymmetrical tread pattern. With their solid tread blocks, the outer shoulders offer greater lateral stiffness, which increases your traction when driving and cornering on dry roads. Because of its high-performing capabilities, you can also use the tires in sporty vehicles and hatchbacks.

Regarding wet road performance, the inner tire tread pattern ensures that water along the road is maximum displaced, thus preventing aquaplaning. Additionally, the thick and deep tread pattern provided that the tire effectively removed large volumes of water in road areas with deep water levels.

In snow and icy road performance, the tires also provide maximum traction in light snow road conditions, but the vehicle is stable at reasonable speeds in heavy snow. In off-road performance, the tires are one of the best in Kelly tires since the car was able to reduce noise and also prevented tire puncture due to its material construction and tough sidewall.

Final Verdict on the Driving Quality

Overall, the Kelly Edge HP tire is a tire to go for because its features work effectively and adapt to various terrains and weather conditions. Additionally, most of the reviews I read and analyzed admitted that it offers a more extended service than tires that belong in its class, and its qualities are higher than its price. It definitely offers value for the money.

Kelly Safari ATR tires

Kelly Safari ATR tires are suitable for heavy trucks and other SUVs because they are built to handle pressure. Additionally, the tires consist of different adaptable components that all function together to make it possible to drive a vehicle toward different terrains comfortably. Features such as asymmetrical tread patterns, thick material construction, large shoulder blocks, and a broad tire base ensure a vehicle is safe and stable while driving.

Performance of Kelly Safari ATR Tires

According to various vehicle test reviews and assessments, Kelly Safari ATR tires have all it takes to drive through different terrains, and these include the harsh terrain. Its large shoulder blocks ensured the tires had more traction on dry road performance. Most tests also concluded that Kelly Safari ATR tires offer one of the best services when used in dry road conditions since their composition does not allow them to wear out quickly.

In wet road performance, the tires defined tread patterns, advanced siping, and plenty of voids that help to provide traction and aquaplaning capabilities on wet road grounds. When it comes to tire performance in snowy and icy conditions, the tire could clean itself from snow and ice since its tread has been designed with deep patterns. Even in thick snow conditions, the tires still performed effectively. Similarly, the tread pattern enhanced traction for off-road performance. The self-cleaning traction grooves effectively pushed away rocks and any debris found in such terrains.

The Kelly Safari ATR is an all-season tire. This is because the tires can propel the mud and the water away from the tire’s tread thereby enhancing its traction irrespective of the conditions on the ground. The same case applies when you are driving in snow.

The Safari ATR is a high-performing all-purpose light-duty tire. After thorough analysis, it is great for both on and off-road because of its excellent traction on different terrains. The tire performs remarkably well and can handle all kinds of light terrains. The riding quality on this tire is above average, and considering its cheaper cost; it may be a surprise that its drive is among the quietest tires in its class.

Kelly Tires Guarantees and Warranties

Mileage warranty.

Kelly Tires creates and produces some of the highest-quality tires on the market. The length of the tire's guarantee may be up to 80,000 miles, depending on the kind of tire you wish to buy. When it comes to all-season radial tires, they frequently have a warranty that lasts for 50,000–80,000 miles. However, a wider tire with a softer material construction, such as an all-terrain tire, might be covered by a 50,000-mile warranty.

Limited Warranty

When you are buying a product, you ought to be very careful of the warranty offered. Be sure to read the details of the warranty to avoid disappointments when things go wrong. The following are the policies of tire replacements offered at various Kelly tires in the US and Canada:

Policy about Free Tire Replacement

When it comes to free tire replacement, the company will replace Kelly radial tires covered by this guarantee for free with an equivalent new Kelly radial tire. This is in the case the tires become unusable due to the layout policy and covered warranty within the first 2/32' of tread wear or within 12 months of the purchase date, whichever comes first. Remember that you will be required to pay for tire mounting and balancing. If you have no purchase documentation,  the tire production date will be the basis for eligibility.

Policy about Pro rata Tire Replacement

Tires that become unusable because of a covered warranty problem and are wear and tear past the first 2/32" of treadwear will be changed on a prorated basis. Additionally, you are liable to pay for all mounting, balancing, additional services, taxes, and government-mandated fees during the adjustment period. The prorated charges will be calculated using the percentage of the original tread still serviceable at the adjustment period and multiplied by the latest Kelly-stated selling price at the adjustment tire.

Kelly Tires’ Pricing

While a complete set of other brands of tires typically costs $500, Kelly Tires are available for as little as $300. In addition to being reasonably priced, its tires are a fantastic deal because of the substantial cost savings realized through their purchase. The brand's radials have significantly lower prices than the industry norm and yet deliver performance qualities exceeding their price range. You can source Kelly tires from a variety of companies including the official website of the company, Amazon and eBay. Stores such as Walmart have sufficient stock for Kelly tires.

Vehicles Compatible with Kelly Tires

As stated earlier, Kelly tires come in various sizes and features. Therefore, the tires can be able to fit a variety of vehicles. The following are some examples of cars compatible with Kelly tires:

  • Lexus TL, CL
  • Chevrolet Cobalt, Malibu, Impala, Sonic LTZ, BMW 135i, and 330i

The cutting-edge technology which Kelly advocates helps it to offer high quality and efficient products, and yet, at rates which are affordable.

Kelly tires reviews.

Kelly Tires might not sound like a name you know or can trust, but it’s actually a sub-brand of one of the world’s largest tire manufacturers – Goodyear .

  • Kelly Tires Warranty

Are Kelly Tires Good Quality

Dating back to 1894, it’s actually the oldest tire brand in America. So much so that Kelly Tires first made rubber tires for buggies – including the one belonging to President William Howard Taft.

Goodyear acquired Kelly Tires in 1935 and in the 1990s moved its base of operations to Goodyear’s headquarters in Akron, Ohio. Then in 2010 the brand made the bod move to go from a limited network of distributors to being a nationwide brand. Now Kelly Tires are available at over 1,000 retailers nationwide including popular automotive stores such as Pep Boys and Mavis Tire, as well as larger retailers like Costco and WalMart.

When it comes to actual product, Kelly Tires offers a sizeable range of all-season, performance, winter and all-terrain tires. In the all-terrain lineup, Kelly’s offerings include the Kelly Edge AT, the Safari ATR and the Safari TSR.

The Edge AT and Safari ATR are comparable tires, although the ATR takes on- and off-road performance to a higher level and is built to withstand off-road driving better. Kelly Tires’ most impressive off-road performance is the Safari TSR, with the characteristics of a mud-terrain tire, including four rows or large tread blocks and plenty of void to help dig into loose ground and toss it away.

All Kelly Tires come with a standard factory warranty and if found defective due to materials or workmanship will be replaced free of charge (including mounting and balancing) for the first 2/32nds of an inch of treadwear or in the first 12 months since purchase (whichever comes first). Beyond that, any tire will be replaced at a prorated amount for the first six years from purchase.

In addition, the Edge AT comes with a 50,000 mile warranty, while the Safari ATR comes with either a 40,000 mile (LT sizes) or 50,000 mile (P-Metric sizes) warranty. There is no additional mileage warranty on the Safari TSR.

Most Kelly Tires also come with a 30 day money back guarantee.

Kelly Tires WarrantY

Below is a list of the individual Kelly tires that come with mileage warranty, as well as the specific length of the warranty in miles and kilometers.

In addition to this info, Kelly backs all of its tires with a standard limited warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship for the first year or first 2/32-inch of tread wear, whichever comes first. During that time Kelly Tires will replace any defective tires free of charge. After that period and up to six years from the date of purchase, Kelly Tires will replace defective tires on a pro-rated basis.

In short, yes. Kelly Tires isn’t a household name but it is a long standing and trusted brand and is a sub-brand of Goodyear Tires. In many cases, Kelly Tires are using tire technology passed down from the Goodyear brand. As a result, they may not be the most sophisticated tires on the market, but you’re essentially getting a steep discount on what you would have paid top dollar for just a few years before. The general result is that sometimes Kelly Tires are slightly less impressive when it comes to either performance, comfort or tread life. But like we said, you’re saving a bundle.

Backed with the same standard limited warranty as Goodear Tires, they also come with Goodyear’s 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

Kelley TSR safari tire review

Just got a set of Kelly safari tsr's 265/70r17's mounted on Friday and couldn't be more pleased with them. They are made by Goodyear and have almost an identical tread design as the dura-tracs but go for about fifty dollars less per tire in a 10 ply. We have quite a bit of snow and ice here and I had about a 50 mile drive home from the tire shop and I put them through the paces. Ride quality was improved and snow traction was quite good. Road noise was minimal especially for a tire this aggressive. I took a side trip through a hay field with about 8 inches of snow and had no issues getting traction. If your in the market for new tires check em' out. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Nice, i've got 265/75 r16 msr's and i love them. However, since mine are the msr's they're noiser than hell. Good luck with the tires.

I am going to be getting a new set of tires in a week or two and was looking at the dura-tracs...so i will be paying close attention to this thread. can't wait for the pictures.

#4 bigskyguy [OP] High priest of the obvious

So I have about 4 grand on my set of 285/70 r17 10ply tsr's and I thought I'd give ya'll some feedback on them. First off they are very quiet for an aggressive tread tire. They were about $40 less then the dura-tracks and they are made by goodyear for Kelly. I live in Montana and the roads have run the gammit from packed snow and ice to mud and everthing in between. On snowy roads they handle very well. Very grippy in four and have a very predictable drift in two (I enjoy hanging it out a bit on the mtn. roads). On gravel they hook up quite well and don't load up all that bad in the mud. They have almost no sign of wear after 4 grand. The only thing that is not so positive is they kinda feel squirmy when pushed on curvy highway roads. But they are a tall treaded tire. I have cooper st's on my 99 landcruiser and I think I'll switch to the TSR's for next winter. We'll see how they wear after the summer. All in all I'd say I got my $'s worth.

Any more info on these after you've put some miles on them? I like the looks of em and the 315/70/17's at 34.4x12.5 would work well on my truck when time comes for new tires

I'm in the market for that same sized tire and was looking at the duratracs. I'm concerned with the gas mileage drop, so I'd be interested to know how they affect that.

Tire Specifications

Manufacturer Info:

Kelly-Springfield Tire Company http://www.kellytires.com

Kelly-Springfield Tire Company History:

The Kelly-Springfield Tire Company was founded in Springfield, Ohio by Edwin Kelly and Arthur Grant in 1894.

Edwin Kelly originally called the company The Rubber Tire Wheel Company because it made rubber carriage wheels. Arthur Grant was issued US patent 554675 for his solid rubber tire in a rim channel. The tire was held on the wheel by two longitudinal wires embedded in the rubber and forming a circle of smaller circumference than the tire. The tire was an instant success because the rubber stayed on the wheel and the compound was of good quality.

The company was sold to the McMillin group in 1899 for $1,200,000. Arthur Grant received $166,000 in stock and $33,000 in cash for his share of the company. The McMillion group renamed the new company Consolidated Rubber Tire Company and it continued under that name until 1914. The name Kelly-Springfield Tire Company was given to the New York sales subsidiary in 1911. Consolidated's name was changed in 1914. "The" was added to the front of the name in 1932 and it became The Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. Manufacturing was done at a plant in Akron, Ohio and another plant was bought in Wooster, Ohio in 1915 and used until 1921. The growth of the company continued until the president, Van Cartwell decided to build a new plant in Cumberland, Maryland. An agreement was signed on November 4, 1916. The plans called for the city of Cumberland to provide a free site and $750,000 for the plant. The city was also to make improvements for roads, water and sewerage lines and other essential construction. The plant site comprised 81 acres (33 hectares). The plant was to employ over 3,000 people with a production capacity of five times the current production capacity of the company. The first tire was built on April 2, 1921. The Kelly Springfield Tire Company was sold in 1935 to The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Edmund S. Burke became president. He served as president from 1935 until 1959. The company operated as a wholly owned subdivision. The company continued to grow until 1962 when it added a new plant in Tyler, Texas. Another plant was build in 1963 at Freeport, Illinois and the third plant in 1969 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Just 66 years after it made its first tire the Cumberland plant was closed in 1987. In that same year the Lee Tire & Rubber Company came under the control of Kelly-Springfield. In November 1987 the corporate offices were moved to a new facility on Willowbrook Road in Cumberland. The original plant site was returned to the city. In 1994 The Kelly-Springfield Tire Company celebrated 100 years. At that time it was the oldest tire company in the United States. In the 1990s, Kelly-Springfield was absorbed by parent company Goodyear and moved its corporate headquarters to Akron, Ohio.
