Dubbed the Maestro of the Masses (New York Times) and the “King of Waltz”, André Rieu returns to the US with his 70-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra , the largest private orchestra in the world. For nine magical nights, the will be performing in Tampa, Sunrise, Orlando, Atlanta, Phoenix, San Diego, Las Vegas, Anaheim (LA) and Oakland.

André Rieu firmly believes that classical music is made for everybody to enjoy and has made classical music accessible to ordinary people. He went on to build an empire out of a worldwide classical music touring act. The audience can look forward to fantastic melodies from film, musical, opera and operetta as well as traditional music and of course they are invited to waltz the night away in an unforgettable evening of music and dance. At his concerts, you can see the audience laughing, weeping, singing, and dancing in the aisles.

New Album: HAPPY DAYS

André Rieu’s new album Happy Days celebrates the 70th birthday of the “King of Waltz” featuring fittingly celebrational classics from the course of his remarkable career. Fans can look forward to joyful hits like Eviva España and title-track Happy Days Are Here Again, as well as celebrations of romance such as the world-famous Second Waltz, which marked André Rieu’s breakthrough in 1994. Happy Days is also an homage to Vienna, the city that played the most important role in Rieu’s career. The King of Waltz will take you back to the Golden Age of Operetta with beautiful waltzes, lively polkas and jauntily cancans from The White Horse Inn or The Gypsy Princess.

Absolutely all I expected and more from the second row! Loved the little girl soprano and antics of the performers. Outstanding entertainment, hotel was convenient, and food at the Jackson restaurant restaurant there was very good.

Det var en SUPER god koncert med Andre Rieu. Såvel musikken, hans kommentarer (som dog er gentagelser både i tv-udsendelser og i går på scenen) - men han er en skæg spradebasse, også hans mimik er fantastisk. Specielt i Herning, hvor han kommenterede publikums tilbagekomst til pladserne efter pausen - skægt.

Jeg savnede dog Carmen fra Brasilien, men hun er jo i glædelig omstændighed. Til lykke med det også.

An excellent concert,at O2 Arena, Prague. Maestro Andre Rieu never fails. I love his sense of humour and interaction with the audience. Great performance from the Johann Strauss orchestra, directed by the best maestro on the globe!! WELL DONE.

More than 40 million albums sold, well over 500 platinum awards. André Rieu has been one of the absolute international top acts for decades. On his last German tour alone, the violin virtuoso thrilled more than 100,000 spectators. Now the world star is coming back to Munich. As part of his world tour, he will give a guest performance in the Olympic Hall on 25 January 2024.

The son of a conductor grew up with the world of music as a child. However, he always found the seriousness, the latently depressed atmosphere at concerts disturbing. So he began to interpret classical music in a completely new way. Cheerful, cheerful, to sway along, to hum and to clap. And so his performances since then have always become a great light-hearted celebration of joy. This time, too, André Rieu will come to Munich with a colourful programme of hits and film music, musicals and waltzes, operas and operettas and, of course, with his usual charming moderations, he will ensure the best atmosphere, a big party for all generations. The title of his DVD "Happy Days are Here Again", which will be released in April 2023, is also fitting.

The "Waltz King" thrilled over 100,000 spectators on his last tour of Germany. No wonder, because his concerts offer world-class entertainment for the whole family. Coupled with his charming and humorous presentations, André Rieu creates a unique musical and emotional experience.

André Rieu came, saw and conquered the hearts of Melbourne. He has made history. His concert at Melbourne’s Telstra Dome on Saturday, 15 November, a record audience of 38,605, made it the biggest attendance of any Rieu show anywhere in the world. That it happened in Australia, the country that has so taken him to heart, pleases him endlessly.

“It was an overwhelming experience. The warmth of the audience was overpowering.”

A giant, life-size reproduction of Vienna’s cream and orange Schonbrunn Castle dominated the eastern end of the Dome. Giant candelabras flickered over the heads of Rieu and his Johann Strauss orchestra and chorus.

André Rieu billed his show as “a romantic Viennese night” and it was all of this and more. Dancers twirled on two 600m ice rinks and from palace balconies and in a ballroom scene. Fountains cascaded and splashed around classical sculptures on either end of the huge stage.

'Maestro of the Masses' returns with the Johann Strauss Orchestra

André Rieu, aka the Dutch 'King of Waltz', will bring his Johann Strauss Orchestra back to the UK in April and May 2020. Across seven nights he will perform in London, Leeds, Birmingham, Belfast, Nottingham, Liverpool and Glasgow. Tickets for the shows are available at 10am on Fri 17 May.

André Rieu has been dubbed the 'Maestro of the Masses' (New York Times), and has been praised for bringing classical music to the mainstream. He returns to the UK next year with his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, the largest private orchestra in the world.

Rieu has sold more than 40 million CDs and DVDs worldwide. His current album are Romantic Moments II reached 30 No. 1 chart positions and achieved platinum awards.

For the 2020 tour audiences can look forward to fantastic melodies from film, musical, opera and operetta as well as traditional music. Waltzing is also welcome.

André Rieu claims he only takes 'three days of holiday' a year as he vows 'never' to retire

André Rieu says he wants to live to 140 because there is too much in life that he still wants to do and it doesn’t involve going on a cruise ship.

The globally-renowned Dutch violinist and conductor, 74, first created his famous Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987 and despite coming dangerously close to bankruptcy and overcoming health scares in the past, has no intention of slowing down.

Speaking to The Standard from his Maastricht castle in the Netherlands to promote his upcoming shows in London next month, Rieu admits that his mind is already bursting with ideas for how he can top this tour in future.

“Every year my wife and family, we go three days to Rome and that’s it, our break, so the rest [of the year] I love to play music. I will never take a break and never stop! I will never retire,” he declared.

“In October I’ll be 75 and I intend to live to 140 so I’m half way!”

In the meantime he is returning to the UK with his 60-piece company and an array of talented guest vocalists cherry-picked by himself, for two unforgettable nights at the OVO Arena Wembley on May 15 and May 18.

“The London audience is fantastic, they are really great. When they come to my concerts they suck every note out of my violin and out of they orchestra. Also their humour and their wit, it’s really great to play there,” he enthused.

“I was sitting in a classical orchestra myself a hundred years ago and people when they go to a classical concert they look at the programme, what conductor is coming, what symphony are they playing, who is the soloist? Should I go? Should I not go?

“In my case, the people know André and his orchestra is coming, they don’t know at all what we are going to do but they buy the tickets because they know they will have an evening they will never forget and that is something I am very proud of.

“I can promise that for three hours they will forget everything else and [experience] only joy. [They] go home and they need at least two weeks to come down to earth again.”

The same can be said for Rieu, who admits that he struggles to sleep after a concert, so just imagine what it was like for the King of the Waltz during the Covid lockdown when he wasn’t allowed to perform.

“It was torture!” the maestro confessed, however it did lead to him taking up an unexpected hobby.

“I remember very well that time, and I tell you, I cannot sleep after a concert, it’s very difficult to sleep. I hear that of other artists also so I’m always looking on my iPhone at baking tutorials and so I started to bake!

“That’s what I did throughout the whole pandemic. I loved it so I bake a lot of things! I can send you photographs of the results.”

Rieu keeps his fans updated on social media about his latest bakes which often find their way into the mouths of his very happy orchestra members and back in 2021, he even appeared as a guest baker on Heel Holland Bakt, the Dutch version of the Great British Bake Off .

While he says he would be up for joining Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in the Bake Off Tent in the UK, his overriding passion remains music.

“Everybody says ‘oh, you’re going to be a baker?’ I say ‘no, I love making music too much’,” he laughs heartily.
