We had paid for an unlimited drinks package and a window table for just the four of us. On boarding the vessel we were shown to our table, at the bow of the boat next to the buffet (result!) and our waiter\steward Curtis introduced himself. We must point out he was excellent as he was attentive throughout the night, kept the drinks coming, and was really pleasant, friendly and good humoured. A credit to Spirit Cruises. The food...I LOVED THE FOOD! Creamy mashed potato, broccoli, cheesy pasta, chicken in honey and ? (can't remember) sauce, meatballs, braised beef, various salads. The only thing I didn't have was the fish as I don't like fish. I didn't have any desserts either as I went back for seconds. Delicious. After going down the Hudson and up the East River under the bridges we went back out into the bay to sit for a photo op at the Statue of Liberty. She looked spectacular at night. On returning to the dock we were asked where we were going to and as we were returning to Manhatten they said we could stay on board as the ship was going back there to berth. Where is it? 111, 11th Avenue, New York.    Budget range? A pricy one, but well spent for an evening cruise through New York's harbour accompanied by some keys.   Time Out Tip: There aren't many seats on the top deck, so it's worth getting there a little earlier to skip the queue. 

2.  Alive After Five

Gather your clocked-out coworkers and friends and board the Alive After Five cruise, which makes the most of happy hour—it actually lasts  two hours —along the Hudson River in City Cruises’ Sensation yacht. You’ll have two climate-controlled decks to choose from, plus a covered roof deck, multiple dance floors if and a DJ to get the party moving. This isn't just a cocktail cruise, there's pasta, Tex-Mex and other food options depending on the admission level you choose.

Where is it? The yacht departs from Pier 15 at 78 South st.  Budget range? Live it up on this classic yatcht without needing to break the bank.   Time Out Tip: Drinks aboard this vessel are a little dearer than usual (even for New York), so you might have to sweet talk the bartender a little.

3.  New York Dinner Cruise

Cruise both the Hudson and East Rivers on this two-and-a-half-hour venture set to music from a quality pianist playing classic jazz, blues and Broadway hits. Time Out Tip:   There's a semi-formal dress code for this floating shindig, so skip the sandals and bring a tie. 

5.  Gourmet Dinner Cruise

This 3-hour cruise down the Hudson River combines delicious food with dazzling sights. Sail past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island while sipping on premium drinks and snacking on a decadent  charcuterie board packed with cheese, meat delicacies, nuts, jam and olives. Once you‘ve admired the view and the plush boat interior, which features  rare wood finishes and collectables, it’s time to sit down to dinner and tuck into gourmet salads and special desserts, while you’re serenaded by a live jazz band. 

Where is it?   Head to   Pier 76 Hudson River Park. Budget range?   A good price for top-notch food, views and live music.  Time Out Tip:   Gratuities aren’t included, so make sure you bring cash. 

6.  Luxury VIP Cruise

Waterfront dining is elevated to a whole new level of luxury on this three-hour dinner cruise with refined decor, beautiful views of  Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge at night and an evening of live music performances. Situated on a luxury yacht, La Barca boasts a large outdoor deck area, and two temperature-controlled indoor decks, accompanied by three bars that serve a selection of agave-based spirits, tequila and more. The boat takes several cruise trips a day, meaning you and the gang can enjoy swaying to a mix of Latin pop, salsa and dance hits — taking in the city's skyline as you float along the Hudson River. 

Where is it? La fiesta begins at Pier 81 .  Budget range? Okay, we're heading back into lobster territory to tell you about this fun New England spin on a Manhattan cruise. City Cruises does not own the parking lots or parking facilities. However, different nearby parking options are available for guests joining the cruise. Validated parking is available on level 2 of the Whole Foods Parking Garage at 1400 Waterfront Terrace (between 19th Street & River View Terrace), Weehawken, NJ 07086. Parking will be validated at the time of garage exit. Upon exit, insert parking ticket into machine at the gate and press call button to speak to the attendant, letting them know you are a City Cruises guest exiting. This complimentary parking option is only available during weekdays and is subject to change per ownership of parking lots. Paid parking is available at the Sheraton Hotel at 500 Harbor Blvd. Propark's paid parking lot is also available directly across the street from the Marina.

Yes, there's a dress code. The dinner cruise requires casual attire, such as khakis, nice jeans, dresses, button-up shirts, and blouses.

The jazz cruise starts at the Chelsea Piers and takes you along the Hudson River to the Statue of Liberty and the harbor of New York. On the way you can enjoy a wonderful view of the New York skyline and smooth jazz at the same time.

My tip: On board you can order various small dishes to eat.

08 Live Jazz City Lights Sail

This 90-minute live jazz sail is one of the best NYC sails I’ve ever done. You’ll sail from Chelsea Piers to New York Harbor, always with the beautiful skyline and Statue of Liberty in view. What you can expect on the Live Jazz City Lights Sail and why you should definitely do it, I’ll tell you in my report!

09 Classic Harbor Line: Champagne City Lights Cruise

We had an amazing time onboard the luxurious 1920s inspired motor yacht. Combine sightseeing with a romantic evening and step onboard the 1920s inspired boat at Pier 62 (Chelsea Piers – W. 22nd and Hudson River). During the 90-minutes long tour, you’ll get to see iconic NYC sights along the water and most importantly breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. Especially in the summer, you can admire the most beautiful sunset during this special cruise. There is seating inside the yacht and outside seating as well.

10 City Cruises - Alive After Five

The “Houdini” hitmaker, 28, looked truly magical for the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme as she arrived at the 2024 Met Gala , walking the red carpet in a stunning creation from Marc Jacobs.

The skin-baring gown included lots of black lace and a cream-colored corset, which Lipa — who donned dark crimson hair — showed off with a plethora of poses as she made her way into the star-studded dinner party.

Some fans speculated that she’d make her red carpet debut with boyfriend Callum Turner at fashion’s biggest night.

However, the pop star — who just released her new album, “Radical Optimism,” on Friday — walked the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s famous steps with designer Jacobs, 61, and internet personality Char Defrancesco.

Lipa has definitely been on a roll when it comes to her red carpet fashion.

At the 2024 Grammys, she sparkled in a low-cut silver Courrèges dress styled with a jaw-dropping Tiffany & Co. choker.

Earlier in the year, she showed up at the 2024 Golden Globes in a spectacular Schiaparelli mermaid gown adorned with gilded bones; while dreamy, it was difficult to sit in during the ceremony , as Lipa later revealed.

The “Argylle” actress served as a Met Gala co-chair in 2023, paying tribute to Karl Largerfeld in a regal white ballgown he had designed for Chanel’s fall/winter 1992 collection. Never one to pass up a major jewelry moment, she accessorized with a Tiffany & Co. necklace suspended with a dazzling diamond of more than 200 carats.

And in 2019, the songstress embraced the ball’s “Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme in a psychedelic, multicolored Atelier Versace gown and over-the-top bouffant.

Perhaps she picked the Barbie-worthy look to hint at her involvement in Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Mattel movie; in addition to contributing to the soundtrack (with her hit “Dance the Night”), Lipa also made her acting debut as Mermaid Barbie in the 2023 film.
