Just wondering if anyone has ever had issues with their transfer service, or reservation problems, or anything else? Or was it all smooth sailing for a great price? Thanks!

' class=

Apple is fine. It's a reputable company offering good value. My only comments re:

Buy trip insurance from someone other than Apple if you buy insurance. (Travel Guard ?)

If you want to splurge purchase your own transfer. Apple may now use vans, not sure but I once got stuck on a big, slow bus transfer.

Other than that no issues.

excursions in riviera maya by apple vacations

I took an Apple package the first time I visited the area, and my advice is skip the transfer. We had to drop off two other couples first en route which was not too bad, but they make you meet with them the next morning to tell you what time they will pick you up to return to the airport, this is just a ruse to try and sell you their trips. They were fine otherwise.

Thanks annoncapecod. Travel guard is our go-to.

Good tip 55vineyard. Thanks!

excursions in riviera maya by apple vacations

If you choose to do a private transfer, let the Apple people know so that they don't wait for you.

Agree with Darlene. Let Apple know if you hire a transfer service as they will hold up the bus waiting for you. Horrible transfer experience which is why I always pay for my own now. Hopefully Apple now uses vans and not buses.

excursions in riviera maya by apple vacations

Very good experiences with Apple and would highly recommend them although they are not always the cheapest nor can you make changes once you book.

We inquired about adding a person to the booking at the current price and we would have had to completely cancel the current booking (much lower price) and rebook us ALL at the higher price. So some of the flexibility is lost.

Also, if you do not buy their insurance, you can not capitalize on the savings should the price go down.

What's the best area of Riviera Maya to stay in?

Whether you're looking to stay in a bustling resort town or somewhere a bit more secluded, the Riviera Maya has it all—and ultimately, narrowing down the best place to stay here comes down to the type of vibe you're looking for.

If you're anything like me and prefer to stay somewhere central (and close to dining, nightlife and attractions), Playa del Carmen is your best bet. Is it better to go to Cancún or Riviera Maya?

Both Cancún and Riviera Maya are beautiful beach destinations, but deciding between the two can be tricky. Keep in mind that Riviera Maya is bigger than Cancún, since it comprises several different resort towns. Since the Riviera Maya is so vast, it also boasts more hotel options. While there are some great all-inclusive resorts in Cancún , you may find more variety across Riviera Maya resorts.

Also, keep in mind that if you travel to Cancún around spring break time, you may encounter some rowdiness.

Guests can also enjoy access to the kid-centric Barcy Water Park (Pirates Island Water Park access is also available, albeit at an extra cost).

The true star of the show here, in my opinion, is the sprawling U-Spa Wellness and Fitness Center. While not directly on-property (it's next door at Barceló Maya Beach), it's the perfect place to retreat to should you need a break from the beach—or perhaps even from your own family (speaking from experience here!). The hot stone massage definitely doesn't disappoint, but if that's not your thing, you can take your pick of dozens of other offerings, including facials, body wraps and flotation therapy. Any treatment here is worth booking solely for the sumptuous spa amenities, most notably a restorative hydrotherapy circuit.

Other highlights include a kids club, state-of-the-art sports facilities (think: basketball, tennis, mini golf, volleyball, giant chess, pool and ping-pong) and two escape rooms (for an extra charge). Those craving more adventure can take advantage of complimentary non-motorized water sports, like snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing and taking out a Hobie Wave or water tricycle; however, most require reservations in advance.

  • Choice between standard and all-inclusive rates, the latter of which is available for as low as $200 per night
  • Beautiful beachfront location
  • Access to services and facilities found throughout the Barceló Maya Grand Resort complex
  • The resort has been only partially remodeled, so while all the rooms are comfortable, some are dated

Travelers looking for a boutique stay—as opposed to a big-name resort—will love Hotel Esencia , which is located in the quaint town of Xpu-Ha, between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The Mediterranean-style property, which was the mansion of an Italian duchess in its former life, is spread across 50 lush acres surrounded by beautiful gardens. The focal point of the hotel is the Main House; from here, footpaths lead to 47 suites (each with private terraces and some with private plunge pools) and four villas.

Just steps away from the unspoiled stretch of sand that the hotel occupies is a reef sanctuary, where you can spot colorful fish and, if you're lucky, sea turtles. Those looking to splurge can enjoy a treatment at the thatch-roof spa or book the property helicopter for VIP sightseeing tours. And while there's no doubting the fact that this property is luxurious, it's not at all stuffy: Instead, expect warm, welcoming and bespoke service befitting its small size, which makes it feel all the more exclusive.

  • Smaller property lends the hotel a personalized and exclusive feel
  • VIP services and amenities, including chauffeur-driven car service and swanky afternoon tea
  • Located on a private stunning swath of sand
  • Accommodations are all luxury suites and villas
  • Families with young children may be bored here, as there is no kids club

Hilton tulum riviera maya all-inclusive resort.

Nestled along the pristine shores of the Caribbean’s coastline, the Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All-Inclusive Resort is one of, if not the best, family-friendly resorts. The all-inclusive resort has facilities for every age group, including a vibrant kids club catered towards children aged 4-12, featuring an outdoor playground and scheduled activities such as piñata making and mask decorating. Teens aren’t left out either, with a dedicated club offering a range of activities from water volleyball to video game showdowns.    Their spacious Family Suites, designed with kids in mind, are located closer to the property’s family-friendly amenities such as the sparkling pools, water slides and the Kids Club. Exclusive suite amenities include large building blocks, a teepee, toys, sunblock and bath toiletries for kids, a teddy bear and coloring books For adults seeking relaxation and culinary delights, the resort boasts an international bar and the expansive buffet at Vela Sur, where gastronomic delights await around the clock. Looking for a sweet treat? An adorable ice cream and churro shop is just a skip away from one of the resort’s nine pools, each offering its own unique ambiance, from a tranquil oasis for the adults to a lively hub for the whole family.   For a taste of Mexico’s rich viticulture, parents can embark on a guided journey with a sommelier, accompanied by delectable hors d’oeuvres inspired by the country’s renowned wine regions. And for a lazier day, 16 treatment rooms and hydro massage therapy await amidst the lush tropical forest. Meanwhile, fitness enthusiasts can break a sweat at the on-site gym or partake in beachside group classes led by certified instructors.  Most extraordinary are the resort’s Enclave rooms, which include private check-in and check-out, access to the Enclave Lounge for more private dining and pool experiences, and charming in-room welcome amenities and more thoughtful perks that will make your stay feel even more special.

Hilton Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort

Nestled between Cancun and the quiet fishing village of Puerto Morelos, set on a secluded stretch of Mayan Coastline, the Hilton Cancun offers a quieter escape for families. The all-inclusive resort, which first opened in November 2021, features 715 stylish guest rooms – all offering panoramic views of nature and the ocean, including the resort’s sought-after Swim-Up Poolside rooms, featuring a pool connected directly to the patio.  The headlining feature of Hilton Cancun, however, is their wide range of culinary experiences. The property has 12 all-inclusive, authentic, globally inspired restaurants, including five signature restaurants, a kid-friendly all-you-can-eat ice cream and churro shop, and a taqueria with a mezcal and tequila bar.   While the kids busy themselves at the splash pool or with games and activities at the kids club, adults can relax at the Waldorf Astoria Spa Cancun. Just next door to the resort, the unique spa blends innovative treatments with holistic Mayan traditions. The spa offers 21 treatment rooms, both inside and outside, that incorporate fresh garden herbs, locally sourced oils, and healing crystals.

Hilton La Romana, An All-Inclusive Resort

You also can’t go wrong with the white sand and blue water of Hilton La Romana, An All-Inclusive Resort in the Dominican Republic, which boasts both family-friendly and adults-only resorts depending on what type of vacation you’re looking for.   For families, the best option for lodging is the all-Inclusive Family Resort nestled in the lush jungles, gorgeous weather and expansive beaches of the island. The resort’s headlining perks come with their family-friendly daily offerings, including a water park features winding tube slides, a palm tree-lined lazy river, and a kids’ splash zone; free kayaking, snorkeling, and windsurfing sessions; and supervised activities at their kids/teens clubs, such as  treasure hunts, sandcastle building, beach camping, foam parties, bonfires and a gaming room.  And if you enjoyed your stay and want to go back without the kiddos? Look no further than Hilton La Romana’s All-Inclusive Adults-Only Resort . The luxury retreat features oversized guest room (stocked with international and domestic top-shelf spirits and an in-suite mini-bar), gourmet dining offered at five different restaurants (no reservations required), infinity pools, ocean-front bars, a day spa, nightly entertainment, a casino, a tree-lined private beach, and a dive center.
