BREAKFAST WITH OUR GIRAFFES

Waking up to breakfast with a giraffe must be one of the most incredible and unique experiences anyone can have. This activity is reserved exclusively for overnight guests of Giraffe Manor and is one not to be missed. Loping across the manor lawns and peering in through the large windows with their elegant necks, encountering our endangered Rothschild’s giraffes at such close quarters gives a real appreciation of just how beautiful and soulful these creatures are. Watch out for their inquisitive tongues, which can grow up to twenty inches long, as they investigate what’s on offer; luckily, it’s nutritious dried grass pellets that they’re after, not your pancakes! PLEASE NOTE: The giraffe at Giraffe Manor are wild and therefore we cannot guarantee interaction with them at any given time.

Depending on where are staying, you will have breakfast either in the Historic Manor or in the Garden Manor breakfast room, but don’t worry, the giraffes know exactly where to find you.

When feeding the giraffe it is better to give them one pellet at a time. This helps with their digestion and ensures that the experience lasts longer.

Loved our stay here! Booked for my partners birthday and from the moment we arrived we had the best time. Food at the lion cafe was amazing including breakfast where there was so much choice savoury and sweet. Also had an evening meal here on the night 4 courses with bottle of wine which was amazing and really good value. The staff decorated the room beautifully and also gave us complimentary cake. The safari itself was fantastic as well as the additional bits you can pay extra for . We fed the giraffes twice ! Room really nice , clean and spacious and so lovely to see the animals from the balcony. All the staff were amazing especially in the lion restaurant, all knew us by name and chatted to us everytime we passed through. Loved it here and couldn't recommend enough !

So glad i brought my kids here. Fantastic hospitality, super super clean park (no smell of poop at all too), tasty and affordable food options at Tsavo restaurant which even allows you to dine with lions (cant get any cooler than that), tons of affordable or even free activities to do in one day if you start early, generous sharing on the safari journey including ample time to take photos as the safari bus moves along, love all the meaningful performances put up by the staff and cute animals, and now let’s talk about the room. Fabulous spacious and clean room that allows us to feel like we are cohabitating with the animals. There really is nothing to complain about this stay. Truly awesome experience that we will never forget.

Amazing experience staying at the resort. The highlights would be: 1. Waking up to see Giraffe, Zebra, Rhino from the room was an experience unlike any that I had experienced in the past. We stayed in Twiga room which was very good and comes with all amenities that you will expect from a 4 star property. There is also a basket of carrots placed in each room which you can feed to zebra, giraffe from your room. 2. Nothing can beat the feeling that you get while having breakfast/lunch/dinner with the lions at the Tsavo Lion restaurant. 3. The park is very well maintained and there are lot of shows that take place throughout the day. One time day Safari journey, Elephant show, Tiger show and Animal show are included with the stay. If you want to have more experiences like feeding the carnivores, night safari etc. that too is available at additional price. Really enjoyed the various animal encounters and the African fire dance at the hotel. 4. The staff is very courteous and helpful. Highly recommend everyone to go and stay at this unique resort.

One of the best experiences of our holiday. Unlike the zoos in Australia you were able to get up very close to the animals and had ample opportunities to hold and encounter the animal for no extra costs. The night safari was the best especially having the big cats climb up on the back of the cage we we travelling round in. See those giant paws and massive teeth as the ranger feed them raw chicken. If you were silly enough you could touch their paws through the cage openings. The accommodation was amazing, very safari like with the mosquito net over the bed and the animals wandering around outside 10meters from the window. The pool was great as was the water park and the African fire dance. Got to pat a zebra by the pool who just wandered up. The elephant ride to breakfast was the cause of great excitement for my 9 year old son. Lots of good educational shows. I would go back. A two day stay is ideal. Another wonderful opportunity to see the animals was in the restaurant separated only by a pane of glass, you could almost touch the lions. Admire in wonder at their massive paws and big teeth and listen to the male lions roar. I didn't feel the need to walk around ever exhibit, the animals more or less cam to you.

The safari park is easily accessible from all parts of Bali.

Cab or Car Rental: A four-wheeler on hire or rent is the best way to reach the park. It takes around 40-45 minutes from Denpasar.

Shuttle Services: There are daily shuttle services to the safari park from different parts of Bali, such as Ubud, Sanur, Seminyak, and Nusa Dua. You can book the shuttle via your hotel’s travel desk or through the operator’s official portal.

Public Transportation: While there is no direct public transportation to the park, you can take a public bus (known as bemo) to Gianyar Regency and then a taxi or ride-hailing service from there to the Bali Safari and Marine Park.

Nkuchiro Restaurant – Located near the grazing zone of giraffes, Nkuchiro Restaurant is a hotspot if you love afternoon high tea and BBQ meals. It also has a tribal African ambience to it.

Uma Restaurant – Enjoy traditional Balinese recipes at this all-day dining venue set in a village-themed food court. Savour local delicacies as well as international preparations for a quick but hearty meal when hunger strikes.

Other than these, there are also several smaller cafes, stalls, and counters where you can grab a bite. Warung Gajah for Padang and Javanese food, Kafe Siki for bakeries and confectionaries and Cafe Hanuman for Indonesian, Mexican and American street food are the famous ones.

Bali Safari Park Welcomes New-Born Giraffe

On an Island experiencing a challenging period created by  COVID-19,  there’s heartening news emanating from the  Bali Safari and Marine Park , where on 09 April 2020, a baby giraffe was born to two doting parents – mother, Sophie and father, Matadi.

The name given the Park’s newest resident was chosen by the  Minister of the Environment and Forestry,  Siti Nurbaya Bakar, who took inspiration from the global pandemic besieging the planet by naming the baby giraffe “Corona.”

“Welcome to Giraffic Park!”

Both mother and child are healthy as Corona passed the one-month anniversary of her birth.

To keep the birth of the baby giraffe in Bali “natural” and as free from stress as possible, the team of veterinarians monitored the birthing process by CCTV camera, ready to move in only if complications appeared during the birth.

Sophie experienced contractions for 2 hours before her healthy, long-legged daughter made her nativity appearance. Unceremoniously ejected from the birth canal, Corona was deposited on the ground where her mother revived and reassured her new-born daughter with loving licks delivered by mother Sophie’s 45-50 centimeter long tongue. Doctor Yohana Kusumaningtyas, who led the team of veterinarians attending at the birth, pronounced the birth a success explaining the licking of the baby by the mother, affirmed a close bond between the nursing mother and her daughter.

Giraffes have one of the most prolonged gestation periods among all mammal, with mothers carrying their young in the womb for 14 to 15 months. When Sophie’s keepers initially determined she was pregnant, she was singled out for close daily monitoring of her health and a rich diet for the next 15 months. “We provide the best care and quality foods like carrots, beans, and calliandra leaves for the pregnant giraffes during pregnancy and throughout the lactation period. Baby Corona will nurse and thrive on her mother’s milk for the first four months of her life.”

Corona is a member of the northern giraffe subspecies ( Giraffa camelopardalis ). The tallest mammal found on the planet; male giraffes, can grow to between 4.8 – 5.5 meters in height and weigh 1,360 kilograms. The female of the species is slightly smaller. 

Corona’s birth brings the population of giraffes living at Bali Safari to 5, consisting of two males and three females. The Park’s directors point to Corona’s birth as further proof of their success in fulfilling their role as a conservation agency for endangered animals.

And while the  Bali Safari and Marine Park  closed 23 March 2020 in keeping with government instructions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the feeding and care of the more than 100 species who live at the Park has continued unabated. 

As shown in the accompanying photos, Corona, like her parents Sophie and Matadi, is adorable in every way and enjoys regular visits by the many zoo workers still on duty at the Park. Veterinarians visit her daily to record her healthy development and ensure she is accepted as a member of the Park’s 5-member  “tower”  (i.e., group) of giraffes.

Her loving team of keepers are thrilled with their new charge and can hardly wait to introduce her to Park visitors once normal operations resume, once the doors reopen to the public.

These one most attractive giraffe named Shingo ! Shingo is 7-years-old male African giraffe born in Bali Safari Park . He is one proof of the successful animal’s conservation in Bali Safari Park , along with the other animals born here.

Currently, Shingo have a height of approximately 5 meters and does not rule out the possibility to grow even higher! He is very active, adorable and easy to approach, making him a professional idol in the park. This necky friend really loves to be fed onion, apple, carrots and leaves hand-to-hand.

How to Meet Shingo?

Shingo can you meet every day start from 11 am until 3 pm at the encounters. Come immediately to Bali Safari Park and walk through Nkuchiro Restaurant.

However, this feeding encounters is not included in your admission ticket. So, you need to do top up, which you can do at Tsavo Lion Restaurant (it is near the encounters). With the price only for IDR 175,000/slot, be ready to stand neck-to neck with this tall mammal. Don’t forget to prepare your own camera and capture the moment as much as possible!

In addition, you can also see him by taking a Jeep tour or Safari Journey by bus with guide provided. Shingo is walking freely on Panorama exhibits and there is no-cage, so he will mingle well with everyone!

New East Texas safari hotel will offer unique animal encounters

NEW BOSTON, Texas ( KETK ) – Nestled in the countryside of New Boston is 900 acres bought by Tony Dierolf and his wife Tiffany.

They opened a unique inn that gives customers the opportunity to connect with nature while enjoying plush comforts of a hotel: The Giraffe Inn and Safari. It offers a one-of-a-kind getaway right in the piney woods of East Texas.

“Interacting with nature itself and kind of getting away and relaxing from everything,” Giraffe Inn & Safari owner Tony Dierolf said.

It started with a dream to own a safari and only grew from there.

“Something that I wanted kids to be able to enjoy and/or the public to be able to enjoy,” Tony said.

Tiffany always wanted a place to experience giraffes up close, and Tony made it happen by bringing the Giraffe Inn & Safari to life. Their website describes the experience: “Here, the wilderness is your neighbor, and giraffes roam freely, visible right from your room.”

The main attraction are the giraffes, but they aren’t the only species you will see. The safari includes sloths, water buffalo, fennec foxes, lemurs and porcupines.

If you want the full experience, you can book one of the rooms giving you access to feed the giraffes right from your room.

“You can see them in a big four-by-four picture window and just kick back in the comfort of your own room and experience the giraffe,” Tiffany said.

There are eight rooms with access to the giraffes, but if that isn’t something you want to do, they also have The Lodge Bed and Breakfast on the property. Not only is there the option to spend the night, but there are also daytime events where you can come and go, including spending time with the animals.

“We have fishing, we have nature hikes, we have all kinds to offer,” Tiffany said.

Guests can enjoy a petting zoo and drive through the safari. People can also get special animal encounters like feeding kangaroos.

“If the public will support it, our intention is to grow this thing to an endless ability and offer a variety of options to do,” Tony said.

With a focus on preservation, they plan to hold educational programs and workshops in the future. You can look at their initiatives on their website .

Tony and Tiffany hope they can eventually expand to all 900 acres for a full day of safari fun in East Texas. The Giraffe Inn & Safari is hoping to hold its grand opening around the beginning of June.
