Wineglass Bay & Freycinet

wineglass bay tours

Visit one of the world’s Top 10 most beautiful beaches in this not to be missed East Coast adventure. Wineglass Bay is the jewel in the crown of Freycinet National Park, explore the coastal walks, beautiful bays and windswept Lighthouse with our Tour Guides. Relax at a local winery before returning to Hobart.

We depart Hobart travelling towards the beautiful eastern coastline of Tasmania. Along the drive we pass through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea as we make our way to Freycinet National Park. Freycinet is one of Tasmania’s first National Parks, famous for its rich and stunning coastal landscapes. Pink granite mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters, white sandy beaches, local wildlife, and amazing walking trails.

After arriving at Freycinet National Park, we set off on a group walk to Wineglass Bay lookout. This moderate 45 minute uphill hike gets the heart pumping before revealing one of the best views in the Southern Hemisphere - gaze out over treetops to a sweeping vista of white sand and turquoise water; the perfect wine glass-shaped bay – and the ultimate selfie backdrop. Enjoy the moment, take in the views and let our guides help you with those sought after photographs.  The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania and requires good mobility and fitness.  It is a 1.3 km uphill walk, before returning downhill.  Sturdy footwear / runners are best suited for this walk.

From the Lookout you have the option to return to the start of the walk with our tour guide, or for the keen hikers you can choose to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass Bay beach.

Wineglass Bay Beach Walk - The total length of the Wineglass Bay lookout and beach trail return is 6 km and usually takes around  2-2.5 hours  of walk time, there are around 1,000 stairs down to the beach. Our tour has ample time for you to do the full walk to Wineglass Bay Beach and return. Once on the beach you can enjoy your lunch in this stunning setting, jump in the pristine (albeit chilly!) waters for a swim, or wander along the white sands.  This is one of the most rewarding walks in Tasmania to a stunning location.

If you prefer to select the shorter walking option, then we return from the Wineglass Bay Lookout with our Tour Guide and explore other areas of Freycinet National Park.  Visit Honeymoon Bay for a lunch break and Cape Tourville Lighthouse, this is an easy 20 minute walk and another of Tasmania's Great Short Walks.

After around 4 hours at Freycinet National Park we re-group ready to begin the trip back to Hobart.

If all that scenery has worked up an appetite, you’ll love our afternoon stop at Devil’s Corner winery. Perched high on a hill overlooking Freycinet, it’s the ideal place to kick back with a glass of wine, fresh seafood platter, woodfired pizza, tea, coffee or artisan gelato at the end of a glorious day. We return to Hobart around 6.00pm.

Wineglass Bay & Freycinet National Park

Tasmania’s multi-award winning tour to Freycinet National Park

Combining the best sites with delicious food and wines.

Explore Freycinet National Park with an experienced and truly local guide

Tasmania’s multi-award winning tour to Wineglass Bay

Explore Freycinet National Park on foot with a local Tasmanian guide. Interact with the wildlife, smell the native plants and be amazed by the spectacular view of Wineglass Bay from the lookout perched upon the Hazards Mountains. Then pamper yourself with a delicious light lunch and taste several wines from Tasmania’s East Coast wine region.  This is the tour for those that want to truly understand the region, complete some of Tasmania’s Greatest Short Walks and indulge in premium wines. Our Wineglass Bay tour departs from the  Hobart waterfront, heading east then following the Great Eastern Drive north. We’ll travel through the seaside towns of Orford, Triabunna and Swansea as we make our way along the East Coast of Tasmania towards the Freycinet National Park .  We’ll stop briefly along the way to take in some of the local highlights including a coffee break at the picturesque seaside town of Orford to fuel up for our hike.

The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania and can attract quite the crowd.  Our tour is designed to help beat the crowds so we do the walk first thing upon arrival. It usually takes about 45mins to get to the Wineglass Bay Lookout. The 1.4 km walk is uphill on a rocky but well constructed path with stone steps. As a group, we walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout where we help each other out to ensure we get the best photographs of this iconic view of Tasmania’s jewel.  We enjoy the excitement and emotions of the moment, learn the secrets of the beaches dark history and take in the rewarding and world famous view.

From the Wineglass Bay Lookout you will return to the start of the walk with your guide and explore more of the Freycinet National Park, in particular the almighty Cape Tourville Lookout. It is here we often see whales (seasonal), seals and an incredible array of seabirds.

It is then time to reward yourself for all your great exercise and adventures.  Lunch will be served overlooking the spectacular Hazards Mountains in the seaside town of Coles Bay.  Your meal will be accompanied by a glass of premium East Coast wine.

Afetr lunch we commence our journey back towards Hobart but on the way we will pop in and visit one of the many stunning vineyards peppered along the East Coast and here you will be treated to a wine tasting.

We then jump back onboard the premium tour bus again to make our way back to Hobart. The drive home is usually spent sharing our experiences and tales with each other and celebrating our amazing day out.  We’ll get you back to the Hobart waterfront (Brooke St Pier) by approximately 6pm.

Geno is the owner of this outfit, and ran a wonderful full day tour from Hobart. We were shown a video about Tasmania wildlife on the way to the park, and stopped at a lovely beach most don't get to visit. Geno gave helpful explanations about the park, some history, the wildlife, etc. and was extremely hospitable and accommodating. Amazing views, beaches, scenic walks -- and we got to pet a friendly wallaby. Such a great way to spend a day in beautiful Tasmania. Highly recommend Wineglass Bay Tours!
