Howard Donald, Gary Barlow and Mark Owen of Take That perform on stage during the "Wetten, Dass ...?" TV show on November 25, 2023 in Offenburg, Germany

Legendary British boyband Take That make a welcome return to Ireland this week to perform two shows at Dublin's 3Arena as part of their ongoing This Life On Tour .

The latest tour from the Patience hitmakers sees the trio - Gary Barlow , Mark Owen and Howard Donald – play 29 dates across 15 cities around the UK and Ireland, distilling 30 years of chart pop, cheesy disco, boyband balladry and karaoke anthems into a stacked setlist.

Leaning into nostalgia, the production features a giant retro TV flicking through all the best bits of their career, singing together and performing individual solo sets.

Take That will take to the stage at the 3Arena on Monday (April 22) and Tuesday (April 23) for two unmissable shows and we have all the info you need ahead of the eagerly-anticipated gigs.

Both Monday and Tuesday's show are almost completely sold out, with fans snapping up tickets soon after they went on sale back in September.

However, Irish fans desperate to see the band perform live can still bag tickets to see the band at the 3Arena this week, with a handful of general sale tickets still on Ticketmaster along with some resale tickets also on sale.

Support act

Take That will be joined at the 3Arena this week by very special guest, Olly Murs.

Murs memorably achieved second place on the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009 and has since scored four UK number one albums and four UK number one singles. He has also moved into TV presenting, and most recently appeared as a coach on The Voice UK.

The 39-year-old singer and his wife Amelia announced the birth of their first child just last week.

According to organisers, doors to the 3Arena will open at 6.30pm on both Monday and Tuesday, with Murs scheduled to kick off his set at around 7.25pm .

Take That are then expected on stage each night at 8.35pm . The band are likely to perform for around two hours, with the concert estimated to finish up at around 10.30pm .

Based on Take That's recent shows from their current This Life On Tour run, Irish fans can expect the band to play all their hits in Dublin this week as part of a massive set list covering the trio's extensive discography.

So expect Take That to stick pretty close to the setlist below:

  • Keep Your Head Up
  • Days I Hate Myself
  • Everything Changes
  • A Million Love Songs
  • I Found Heaven
  • Forever Love (Gary Barlow song)
  • Clementine (Mark Owen song)
  • Speak Without Words (Howard Donald song)
  • Get Ready for It
  • March of the Hopeful
  • The Champion
  • Greatest Day
  • Time and Time Again
  • Relight My Fire (Dan Hartman cover)
  • One More Word
  • Hold Up a Light
  • Back for Good
  • Never Forget
  • Rule the World

How to get to the 3Arena

By train/Luas:

The Luas is typically the fastest way to get to the 3Arena via public transport from the city.

If you're travelling by train to Dublin, simply board the Luas Red Line to The Point stop from either Connolly or Heuston Station. This will helpfully take you straight to the doors of the 3Arena.

The full list of city centre stops on the Luas Red Line are here .

There are also several bus routes that take you close to the 3Arena, including the 151, which leaves you closest to the venue. The service runs every 10 minutes at rush hour.

If you are taking this route, get off at Castleforbes Road, the closest stop to the venue, which is just a two-minute walk from the 3arena. Full details on buses, routes and specific stops can be found at www.dublinbus.ie.

The 3Arena is roughly a 20 minutes' walk along the quays from O'Connell Street in Dublin's city centre.

From O'Connell Street, walk down the Northside Quays past the IFSC until you arrive at the indoor venue.

Driving to the 3Arena on the night isn't recommended, but if you are, there'll be limited car parking available at Point Village car park.

Summer shows

Fans who can't attend any of of Take That's gigs at the 3Arena this week will have another chance to see the band perform live later this year.

The Rule The World singers will be returning to Dublin this summer to play Malahide Castle on June 21, with the band set to perform at Cork’s Musgrave Park the night before on June 20, followed by a show at Belsonic Belfast on June 22.

Tickets to the Malahide Castle gig are available here , while fans can buy tickets to the group's Cok gig here and Belfast gig here .

Take That are back on their first full-length tour in five years.

Listen to this article

Since Take That returned nearly two decades ago, they've never really gone away.

Although Robbie Williams came and went, and Jason Orange retired from pop altogether in 2013, Gary Barlow , Mark Owen and Howard Donald have kept the flame alive.

As a trio, the group have played the occasional live show in the past five years – including a massive concert at Hyde Park this summer – but they haven't been on tour properly since before COVID-19.

Finally though, Take That are back on the road, with a massive UK and Ireland tour announced for 2024.

Who is supporting Take That on the This Life tour?

Olly Murs at Flackstock Festival in 2023

Announced as support for the This Life tour is former X Factor cheeky chappy and "very special guest" Olly Murs .

Olly's relationship with Take That goes back to his reality competition days, where he performed 'Angels' with on-off Thatter Robbie Williams in the 2009 final.

He also supported Take That when they played Hyde Park in the summer of 2016.

It's not impossible that another act may be added to the bill on some or all dates, but for now it's just Olly on the undercard.

Will Jason Orange or Robbie Williams appear with Take That on the This Life tour?

Take That as a five-piece in 2011

Since 2014, Take That have been very much a trio.

Robbie had returned to reunite the original five-piece lineup from 2010 to 2014, but he has since focused on his solo career.

Not long after Robbie parted from the group for the second time, Jason Orange not only left Take That, but quit the whole entertainment industry .

Nothing is impossible in the wonderful world of pop, but we'd say it's pretty unlikely that Jason will pop by.

Earlier this year Mark Owen said of Jason: "I think he felt like he didn't want to do it any more."

The three-piece Take That at the premiere of their Greatest Day film in June 2023

That tallied with Jason's own words when he left the group, saying: "There have been no fallings out, only a decision on my part that I no longer wish to do this."

Meanwhile, Gary Barlow had said: "Jason isn't coming back. Take That is Mark, Howard and me for the next few years."

And back in 2018, Howard said: "Jason has gone off the grid. He's not taking emails or phone calls or stuff like that. That's good for him."

Robbie is a very busy chap, between his solo career and long-awaited Better Man biopic , and he's only just wrapping up his XXV 25th anniversary celebration global tour at the end of 2023.

There's not been any serious whispers that he'll rock by, but he did show up with Mark not that long ago , so we've got our fingers crossed that he might consider it.

Take That tour dates: Full list of 2024 venues and concerts planned across UK and Ireland

Take That have announced a brand new album  and a three-month long tour of the UK and Ireland to support it.

Speaking to Ball, Barlow said of the new song: “New music, it is exciting. We’ve been together for 33 years now so it’s like, ‘What’s next? How do we sound in 2023?’ That’s the exciting bit.

“There’s nothing more we love than going into a studio and going, ‘Who are we now? How does our music sound when it comes out?’ And it feels fresh and it feels exciting, and it feels like we’re looking upwards. I think we’re at a nice time of life.”

He added: “It’s hopeful and there’s a lot of light I think in this music. We’re very excited for our audience to hear it – always.”

Take That (formed in 1990) is the most successful English boy band in UK chart history, specialising in their own style of pop balladry, the band hails from Manchester, England.

Band manager Nigel Martin-Smith in 1989 had a vision to create a youthful and highly appealing male singing group based on New Kids on the Block. Introduced to young singer Gary Barlow, Martin-Smith decided to design the group around Barlow’s talents, subsequently inviting Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and 16-year-old Robbie Williams. Originally performing under the moniker Kick It, Take That’s breakthrough came with a cover of the Tavares hit “It Only Takes a Minute”, followed by “I Found Heaven” and “A Million Love Songs”. Take That later released the album “Take That & Party” in 1992 which featured all of the hit singles theretofore released.

In 1993 the band released their second full-length album “Everything Changes” garnering generous amounts of popular appeal. The album peaked at No.1 and spawned six singles including “Pray”, “Relight My Fire” and “Babe”. Nominated for the Mercury prize the band saw some international esteem however wasn’t enough to break into the U.S. market.

On the wake of Take That’s third studio album “Nobody Else”, Robbie Williams came under some criticism from other band members for his drug use and was offered an ultimatum: sort himself out or hit the road. Williams chose the latter and Take That embarked on their first worldwide tour and released the album “Nobody Else” in America with Williams removed.

Sensing an opportunity to continue his solo careers in the shadow of artists like Elton John an George Michael, Gary Barlow and the group disbanded in 1996. Barlow’s debut solo single reached the No. 2 spot in the UK chart and Mark Owen began working on a solo album influenced by Paul Weller and Radiohead. In 1997 Robbie issued his solo album “Life Thru a Lens” which topped the charts as did his sophomore release “I’ve Been Expecting You” a year later.

In 2005 a new compilation of Take That hits “Never Forget - The Ultimate Collection” arrived which led to an ITV documentary where the band discussed things past. In late 2005 the post-Williams line-up announced they would tour around the UK in 2006 and released the album “Beautiful World”. The album shot straight to the No. 1 spot, sold over 2.8 million copies and is the UK’s 25th best selling album in chart history. The album was led by the single “Patience” which hit the No. 1 spot, the group’s ninth single to do so.

In 2008 Take That released their new single “Greatest Day” ahead of their fifth studio album “The Circus”. Like its predecessors the album broke many records and earned many awards, afterwards the band embarked on their Take That Present - The Circus Tour Live”.

Robbie Williams returned in 2010 with the single written by both Barlow and Williams entitled “Shame”. Subsequently the band released the single “The Flood” ahead of the group’s 2010 album “Progress”. In 2014 the group released the album “III” led by the No. 1 single “These Days".

Live reviews

Take That was A M A Z I N G! We had seats in Block 420, Row C, and had the BEST view we've ever had at the O2! The support band, All Saints, were quite good and a great introduction to how the stage in the middle worked and what our view would be like for the main act. We found by watching them that Take That wouldn't be little ants like we thought they would, we could in fact see them clearly. I cannot fault the start of the main act as it was just so good. The visuals were superb, and my mind was blown as I watched. As someone who is a die hard Take That fan and loves all of the new songs as well as the old, I stood up for nearly every song and got goosebumps all the time. The visuals again, throughout, were especailly good in the songs Giants, relight my fire and shine. Take That also did a medley of old or obscure songs in the middle, which was amazing for me, even though I was the only one standing up in Block 420! Their new dance song called 'Cry' really got the crowd hyped, as it was amazing to witness. Never forget and rule the world were beautiful, with phone flashlights illuminating the whole arena.

I also cannot fault the secruity, as it was like being in an airport and I felt very safe. However, we had to go to level 1 to get chips as there is not much vareity on level 4 and we do not like going to a big resturant on the ground floor before a concert.

My favourite songs live were: Cry, Shine, wonderland, it's all for you and rule the world.

Back in 2011 Take That played a stint of gigs at London’s Wembley Stadium. They were certainly impressive shows. Since their 2005 comeback the English pop group (it no longer seems fitting to describe them as a boy band) have been famed for the dramatic scale of their arena performances.

Take That drew upon their by-now vast repertoire of work. They had released no less than three studio albums since their much-anticipated comeback n 2005. Of course, the latest album and tour had been particularly exciting because it marked the belated return of Robbie Williams. The largely female crowd was an excitable screaming mass throughout the evening, letting out deafening yells, whoops and screams as the Take That four-piece opened with ‘Rule the World.’ Five songs later, Robbie Williams took to the stage to perform five of his own solo tracks. And then it was time for what we were all waiting for. THE ORIGINAL TAKE THAT LINE-UP PERFORMING TOGETHER. They began with ‘The Flood,’ the leading single of their 2010 album, ‘Progress’. Soon the reunited five-piece were transporting us back to the nineties with a fine rendition of ‘Want You Back’. Take That delivered an impressive spectacle of a performance. And with an encore featuring ‘Relight My Fire’ it would have been difficult to please their audience any more!

A nation went into mourning when boyband Take That announced their breakup in the mid 90s. However they delighted the devoted fanbase announcing a reunion in 2006 as they reappeared as a more mature, grown up band with a new approach to pop music. The tours have also changed with age, there and no more cheesy dance routines of the 90s videos and instead they have been replaced with more considered, sophisticated production values.

The fully reformed lineup took to Wembley stadium to delight fans with a barrage of dancers, lights, video interludes and an infamous illuminating elephant. With so much to focus on, you could review a Take That show without having to mention the incredible track list which includes mega-hits such as 'Relight My Fire' 'Never Forget' and 'Could It Be Magic'. The original reformed four piece also perform modern hit singles including 'Rule the World' and 'Patience' before Robbie arrives to play a number of his solo tracks including 'Rock DJ'. This show really is a masterclass in pop majesty.

What an absolutely wonderful time we had at Take That's Thursday night concert at Take That Arena.

Rick Astley was brilliant a trip right back to the 80s. I'd quite forgotten how many hits there were. Then bang up to date with some of his contemporary work. Great voice great music!!!

Then the boys landed!!!

The set and special effects were incredible. The lads worked so hard for over 2 hours and treated us to a catalogue of hits and routines from their previous tours. Even the outfits were authentic.

It was so fantastic to see such a show and be able to sing along to of the music.

Very hoarse today !

And a final surprise guest Lulu.

The little pocket rocket with the huge voice. Hasn't lost any of it!!

If you get the chance to see the tour my advise just do it.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary in style xxxxxx

I am a heavy metal fan who goes along with his wife to Take That concerts. Joy!

To be honest, Joy is the correct word to use. Take That always put on an excellent show and even thought it is so different from let’s say the upcoming Rammstein concert at the same venue I am so looking forward too in July, these guys show is exciting and so well presented that I found myself bopping like a 16 year old kid out on the kip for his first conquest. Loved it. I would say that of the 5 TT tours I have been to, this one rates second after the Circus show at Wembley all those years ago.

Well done lads. Loved it!

Yet again, a fantastic show. Take That never fail to entertain. They sounded fabulous, the stage was a masterpiece and Lulu was amazing! Rick Astley was the perfect set-up for the boys, getting everyone dancing and singing. The crowd were all in good spirits with everyone being friendly and polite to each other. It was an amazing tribute to the past 30 years with a real mixture of old and new songs. The guys may be 30 years older now but they ooze energy! Certainly my favourite gig since The Circus tour in 2009!!

The concert was stunning and amazing *-*

It was huge, even it was only the 'little' show of them.

Me and my friend both got a plec from Kevin, the best tour manager ever! And we never thought that Howard, Mark and Gary would look at us that much! All three of them looked at us several times and grinned when we grinned or laughed or winked or what ever. We botj saw that they have really much fun with that what they do! :)

This concert was just awesome! <3

Thank you for the great night! <3

Fabulous show!!. A million costume changes, loads of stage props and pyrotechnics fireworks ldancing girls and flames. All the hits were covered and appeared I went. Rick Astley is still as fab as he ever was though he did say" I'm 53 and knackered" lol. Surprise guest was Lulu . "Rule the world" a little tear ran down my face. All had our torches on and my dad's dear face on my phone was lit up like he was there. The stars are coming out tonight...for you Dad. He'd have loved it ❤

Take That perform at the Greatest Days world premiere at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square

Take That have announced a brand new album  and a three-month long tour of the UK and Ireland to support it.

It is the first track to be released from This Life , which will go on sale from 24 November. This Life on Tour will begin several months later, in April 2024, and run until June.

Greatest Days review: Take That musical is sweet and quirky, but won’t relight your fire

Take That musical Greatest Days is sweet and quirky, but won’t relight your fire

Take That said: “It’s been a wonderful experience being back in the studio together making this record. It has that feeling of spreading your wings, letting out the old and bringing in the new.

“We’re incredibly proud of the new album – there’s a sense of togetherness, whether that’s us coming back together as a band or people wanting connection in their own lives. We’re excited for this new chapter!”

Our small groups guarantee Never more than 26 guests per tour

We always keep our tour group sizes small. That's because we want every guest to get the comfort, space and service they deserve. Although many other companies squeeze in groups of up to 50, even the largest of our tour packages are strictly limited to just 26 guests. That leaves empty seats on the coaches. So why do we limit our tours to such small group sizes? Here are six reasons.

Superior Service

Guests consistently list our small group sizes as a top reason why they would book with us again. See our reviews...

More focus on you

With a smaller group, our tour guides have more time to get to know you and your interests.

We deliberately leave empty seats on our coaches, so you can relax and spread out.

Experience each attraction up-close and personal, with more time to ask questions and see what interests you.

Speedier Check-Ins

Compared with many of our rivals, our smaller group sizes make checking in and out of the hotels a breeze.

More Relaxed Pace

Experience Ireland at your own pace. No rushing to keep up and no waiting around for large groups to assemble.

The logo also appeared on a number of other music venues and arenas around the UK in a strong hint that the much-loved group would be heading back out on the road for a new tour. Ahead of the projections, the band had already announced that their new single Windows would drop today (Friday, September 21).

Ahead of the anncounment on Zoe Ball's show, the host also played their new track in full. Speaking about the new music, Gary Barlow said there was nothing more they loved than being back in the studio. The singer said: "New music is exciting, we've been together for 33 years so it's like what's next and how do we sound in 2023. It feels like things are going upwards and there's a lot of light in this music."

Fans said they were "loving the new music" and that Windows "was well worth the wait". Gary revealed the song was recorded in Nashville in the same studio as Elvis, Dolly Parton and Buddy Holly recorded, but that the rest of the album was made in Savannah in Georgia.

Take That were last in Manchester for their 2019 Odyssey Tour, which saw them perform for five nights at the AO Arena. The trio also reunited onstage at the King's Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle in May.

British pubs are in trouble, with more of them closing every year.

Once the beloved watering holes for many communities, they have fallen victim to higher costs, changing habits and "the real estate incentive".

Some 239 pubs closed in England and Wales during the first three months of the year, according to government figures – 56% more than in the same period in 2023.

Our Money reporter Brad Young has been exploring whether this is the end of the British pub as we know it.

Earlier this week, he spoke to communities and experts about the reasons behind recent closures - you can read his piece here .

In the video below, Brad explains three reasons why pubs are struggling.

Amazon has been cleared for take-off with the testing of new drone delivery in the UK.

Amazon Prime Air already offers drone deliveries in the US with drones able to fly 12km from their fulfilment centres.

But the service could now come to the UK, with Amazon hoping to launch it by the end of the year. It has ambitions of delivering small packages within an hour of an order being placed.

The online retailer is one of six organisations taking part in a new trial from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) - with other projects including using drones to inspect offshore windfarms, for policing and delivering medical supplies.

The trials will gather safety data and look at how drones can detect and avoid other aircraft while up in the air.

"Our goal is to make drone operations beyond visual line of sight a safe and everyday reality, contributing to the modernisation of UK airspace and the incorporation of new technology into our skies," said Sophie O'Sullivan, from the CAA.

Octopus Energy is launching "free electricity sessions" for its customers when wholesale prices plummet.

Starting from today, those who are signed up to the "Octoplus" rewards scheme can take part.

The one-hour-long sessions will be available whenever the wholesale electricity price hits zero or goes into negative figures, the energy firm said.

Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product officer at Octopus Energy, said: "Free electricity sounds like it's too good to be true but it's real.

"By using more when there is plenty of renewable energy instead of when the grid is dirty, our customers can save money while making the grid greener and more efficient. It's a win-win for our customers and the planet."

How does it work?

Those who have signed up for the free electricity will be notified the day before the session will take place.

On its website, the company said the free period will generally be between 1pm to 2pm.

During that time, customers can use as much electricity as they want, with all the power used above their typical usage not costing anything.

Within a week, customers will receive an email telling them how much extra power they used, and within two weeks, they will see that amount paid into their account as bill credit.

How many sessions will there be?

There are no set amount of sessions planned to take place as they are based on dips in the market, which is changing all the time.

However, Octopus Energy has said it is hoping for at least two or three before winter.

In the last year, it said there had been 14 days when electricity prices dropped below £0 due to excess renewable energy being generated.

"During these times, wind farms are often paid to shut down to prevent grid overload, meaning valuable green electrons go to waste," it added.

"By powering up during these periods, households can maximise green energy availability - making the system more efficient and lowering system costs for all."

It's important to know that you must have a working electric smart meter in order to take part.

Drivers are being told to avoid scanning QR codes to pay for parking in light of a spate of scams.

Motorists should only make payments with cash, cards or using official apps, the RAC has warned.

It comes after fraudsters placed stickers with fake QR codes on parking signs in Barking and Dagenham, Northumberland, Northamptonshire, South Tyneside and Pembrokeshire (among others).

When drivers scan the codes, they are taken to a scam website where they are asked to enter their card details, which the criminals use to take money from their accounts.

"As if this scam isn't nasty enough, it can also lead to drivers being caught out twice if they don’t realise they haven't paid for parking and end up getting a hefty fine from the council," says RAC head of policy Simon Williams.

And depending on where you are in the UK, that fine can be anything from £50 to £300.

Thousands of prosecutions for alleged fare evasion are set to be declared void after a judge ruled they were wrongly made.

It means people who previously paid fines for fare evasion could be due a refund, with a team being set up by the end of November to identify everyone unlawfully prosecuted.

Four train companies including Northern Rail and Greater Anglia brought prosecutions against thousands of passengers using the single justice procedure (SJP) - despite not being permitted to do so.

The SJP was set up in 2015 to allow magistrates to decide on minor offences, such as using a television without a licence or driving without car insurance, without defendants going to court.

But concerns have been raised that cases are being brought before magistrates without prosecutors, or without any mitigation being taken into account.

Rail companies were permitted to use the SJP in 2016 to prosecute privately fare evaders, but the Evening Standard reported that several of these cases were brought under the Regulation of Railways Act 1889, which is not allowed under the procedure.

Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring told Westminster Magistrates' Court in June that thousands of prosecutions were "probably unlawful".

The exact number of those affected is currently unknown, with a previous hearing told around 75,000 people could have been prosecuted for fare evasion offences under the SJP.

Northern Rail, just one of the companies involved, said it apologised for the errors involved.

Greater Anglia also said it acknowledged "a series of significant errors" had occurred.

Locals in a trendy London neighbourhood have signed a petition against Gail's bakery setting up shop in their area.

After (unconfirmed) rumours began circulating that the chain was looking to open a site in Walthamstow village, more than 600 have signed a petition opposing the plans.

The petition, which features a cross made out of two baguettes over the company logo, says the village "faces a threat to its uniqueness" should Gail's move into the area.

"Gail's, although respected for their quality, bring a risk of overshadowing our much-loved local stores due to their massive scale and advertising reach," it continues.

"This could lead to decreased visibility and pedestrian traffic towards independently run businesses, threatening their very existence and dismantling the character and diversity crucial to Walthamstow's charm."

Local business owners have also said they oppose the plans because of the pro-Brexit and anti-lockdown views of Luke Johnson, the company’s minority investor.

Adrian Spurdon, a barista at an independent coffee shop, said Mr Johnson's views clashed with the politics of Walthamstow.

He told The Times: "We've just had this big, diverse counter-protest to protect Walthamstow from the far-right and I doubt Luke Johnson would support that.

"He is very different to the people here. His views are not the same."

The opening of a Gail's - where a regular latte will set you back £4.10 - has become a mark of prosperity in the area.

Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey said the party looked at where the bakery chain had opened as an indicator of constituencies that could turn yellow, while the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton is known to be partial to their chocolate brownie finger.

A spokesman for Gail's said: "We understand the concern around chains, but our view is that a healthy high street is one with a diversity of quality offers, each delivering their best.

"High streets evolve over time and we open our small bakeries often in closed banks or stranded restaurants.

"All of our bakeries exist in areas where the choices are wide and growing – we should be celebrating the improvement in our food landscapes."

Despite the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine tension, the benchmark oil price has come down from the highs of Monday to just over $80 a barrel, good news for motorists.

The value of a pound is down from the highs of July but still better than most of the last six months, with £1 equal to $1.2856. Sterling has done worse against the euro with one pound buying €1.1663, less than could be bought for most of the last three months.

Following news that insurance company Admiral will up payments to shareholders, the price of its shares increased nearly 8%, the most of all the companies on the London Stock Exchange's benchmark index, the FTSE 100.

As a whole, the FTSE 100 grew 0.06% while the larger and more UK-based FTSE 250 index of valuable London-listed companies grew 0.28%.

Whether or not results day goes to plan today, you can always console yourself with some free chicken, pizza and nachos.

Major chains like Nando's, Pizza Express and Frankie & Benny's are offering some great freebies for students picking up their A-level results. Most you can get simply by showing a copy of your results to staff. Some have a few extra steps - but we've outlined this below, and most usually just involve signing up for some kind of free app or reward programme.

(And don't worry year 11, many of these offers will also be available when you receive your GCSE results next week).

Nandos: Chicken Bring your ID and results and you will get a free starter or quarter chicken, provided you also spend £7 or more.

Frankie & Benny's: Pizza Each restaurant is giving away 50 free pizzas - you just need to purchase a large soft drink (and show off your results).

Pizza Express: Dough balls You'll get one free portion of dough balls when you purchase a main - for this one you also need to present a valid UNiDAYS offer code.

Wagamama: Free side and drink You need to sign up to the Soul Club app to get this one, but you'll get a free side dish and free soft drink, or cider can, if you order between 11am and 3pm.

Bill's: Dessert To qualify for a free dessert you also need to purchase a main course, or brunch.

Banana Tree: Pad Thai You need to purchase one starter (excluding edamame) and a drink, but you then qualify for a free main meal. Just make sure you sign up  here  first.

Chiquito: Loaded nachos You have two options for this - Chicken & Chorizo or Pibil Pulled Jackfruit, as long as you order at least one large soft drink. There are only 600 available, so you'll want to head down early.

Bird & Blend: Drink Get a magical matcha, refreshing ice tea or a herbal brew if you present your results and your student ID between 11am and 5pm.

Showcase Cinema: Popcorn If you have a ticket for a film today, just show proof you received your results and you qualify for a free popcorn.

In a little over a month, hundreds of thousands of young people will once again descend on university towns across the UK - armed with maintenance loans and newly found financial freedoms.

With their arrival comes their business - and retailers and restaurants all fight for the chance to part students with their cash in the form of special discounts.

It would be a pretty long post were we to list every single student discount, so for this guide we'll go through some of the most notable and our favourites.

Let's start with the world's most valuable company, which offers various deals to students.

Buying a new iPad or Mac will land you a gift card worth £120, while you're able to access a cheaper Apple Music plan with Apple TV+ included.

It's available through discount portal UNiDAYS , or you can read more about the offers here .

Another student essential - bag yourself six months of free Amazon Prime (which offers next-day delivery on thousands of items and Prime Video).

Once that ends, students only need to pay half price for their membership (£4.49 a month).

Check out the offer here .

If you didn't opt for the Apple Music offer outlined above, then getting 45% off your Spotify subscription might be worth it.

It's this link to sign up.

If you want 10% off clothes from one of the world's biggest online fashion retailers, you simply need to fill in this form .

Another top tip: ASOS often drops prices, starts sales or increases discount when your student maintenance loans hit your account.

It might be worth waiting for then to use your codes to maximise your savings - you'll get your first loan at the end of September/start of October, one at the start of January and the last will be at the start of April.

YouTube Premium and Music can be yours for £7.99 (plus a free trial month) - allowing you ad-free watching, downloads, background play and unlimited tunes.

An unequivocal student essential.

Railcards are a must while you're moving around the country visiting friends, family or just making your way home for Christmas.

They cost just £30 and give you a third off expensive rail fares for the full year.

Offers change every year - and they'll be updated here .

If you are a regular reader of the Money blog, you will have seen us cover the topic of security tags before.

We've noticed them on meat, cheese and baby milk , and now some chocolate treats are also getting the yellow security sticker treatment.

We spotted the tags below at an Asda in Twickenham earlier this week.

They were placed on a £2.50 box of Celebrations and Lindt Salted Caramel Lindors costing £5.

Also tagged were a £9.30 box of Maltesers Truffles, a £6.55 pack of Raffaello, a £10.50 tray of Ferrero Rocher and an £8.95 Thortons Classic box.

An Asda spokesperson confirmed to the Money team that "individual stores may tag specific products at their own discretion as a precautionary measure".

Earlier this year, it was revealed shoplifting had hit its highest level in 20 years.

The number of offences increased by 37% to 430,104 in the year ending 31 December 2023, compared with 2022, the latest Crime Survey for England and Wales found.

Several retailers have taken steps to curb the surge, including extra security and body-worn cameras.
