Ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo and onion rings. The gumbo was outstanding, as good as the gold standard at The Bon Creole Lunch Counter in New Iberia. The (large) bowl was huge, unlike most places that serve it up in much smaller sizes. The rings were not cooked enough, but I like mine darker and crispier. They were still delicious, freshly hand-battered. The buffet looked amazing. Friendly, fast service. Visiting my daughter and found this place nearby.

Fried chicken Thursdays are the absolute best. They have the best fried chicken and rice dressing that I know of.

We stopped in here on our way from Florida to Texas. We were pleasantly surprised that it was attached to a truck stop so it was a easy in easy out with our 5th wheel trailer. The wait was very quick. The food was hot, large serving sizes and very good. We skipped on the buffet due to the fact that the only meat option on it was pork chops. That's why I did the 4 stars instead of 5 stars. We ordered the whole roast beef po-boy, the crawfish fettuccine and three kid meals. The kids meals were very good sized. My husbands po-boy was massive (and we eat a lot of food). We would definitely go back and highly recommend. It looks a little shady from the outside but inside was clean and had clean bathrooms.

Excellent food. Nothing fancy just good ole cajun cuisine. Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly staff. Buffet items are also wonderful.

Cheeseburger & Fries

They have the best fried chicken, hands down! All of the sides are great too! You are missing out if you haven't eaten here!

I've never eaten at any other buffet where absolutely every item, from the mains down to the smallest side, is absolutely delicious. The cooking is very home style, but done at a truly high level. Everything is perfectly seasoned and full of with real homestyle touches like sausage in the black eyed peas, real minced garlic used in the pork grave, just great food period. Don't sleep on this hidden gem.

The food was amazing. We did the buffet , the shrimp stew was amazing! The service was top notch. The ambiance of the restaurant was a nice Louisiana feel.

There are a lot of places-from California to New York- that bolster the claims "Louisiana Stye" this or that. Or "New Orleans Style" this or that. OR "Cajun Style" this or that, but very few live up to it. Now me being from Louisiana and being raised in New Orleans I Know when I'm tasting Authentic Louisiana cuisine. The little spot in Duson La. Rascals comes real close with their roast beef po'boy. Full of flavor, juices running everywhere tender roast beef just delicious.

Gumbo was the bomb! Get the seafood one and add crab. The bowls are large and it was filling. The seafood is super fresh. They have a buffet option and they keep it hot and ready. Lacy was our server, ask for her each time! She is so nice and friendly! She took great care of us and she was so personable! I'll be back mainly because of her service along with the quality and taste of the gumbo. It's right off I-10 and next door to the gas station. Don't mistake it for the Rascals Express place that's actually inside of the gas station, the resturant is around the corner. Peach cobbler was wonderful too!!!

Good like my grandma cooked. Great service and A LOT of food for the price!! A must STOP!!

Stopped in for first time today. Nothing but good things to say! Service was excellent, quick and attentive. Food was very, very ... good. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and white gravy. The hubs had the charbroiled burger. Both were head andshoulders above what you might expect. Really great food! Excellent place for you and your family. Great food (buffet and menu options), great staff (friendly and efficient), and fair ... prices. The restaurant?s interior is creatively decorated. I love the thought, art and detail of the walls/hangings/decor. Irecommend the overstuffed shrimp poboy. I am usually resistant to ordering shrimp pivots at restaurants because they typicallyput like 5 shrimp in there and you are just stuck with a bunch of bread. But this was a whole other level of shrimp poboy and itis true to its menu name. The poboy is abundantly piled with fried shrimp. I was able to eat a ton of the shrimp before eveneating it as a sandwich. The shrimp were very well seasoned (a tad spicy even ??) and the French bread was nice and freshfeeling. I had a friend that lives in Louisiana, told me to stop by this place, Rascals. He said the women were nice and friendly. I went ... in and asked one too many questions about the food and the slender, bright skin, lady that was so called helping me got anattitude, she looked at the older white lady that was putting the food out and mumble under her breath and laughed. I told herto put the food back I don't want it. If it aggravates you for people to ask questions about your food, put names anddescriptions on the food. Hell, I don't live in Louisiana, I just like the food. I was going to get some out the freezer andtake back to my children because they love the Cajun too but I refuse to spend my money and be treated like that. Read more

Food was really good had to get it to good because They want serving out under the patio during the pandemic because they didn't have enough waitresses inside was too crowded with people and mask Not proper ventilated The cashier were extremely nice And like I said the Food was excellent just wish they would have served on the patio as well

As you walk in to the mildly lighted restaurant you are greeted by a very nice and smiling hostess who will seat you and get your drink order, very soon the waitress comes with your drinks even with a full place. We had the buffet fried chicken, rice dressing, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese with a dessert of bread pudding. The food was great chicken was cooked just right not dry and was seasoned perfectly. The rice was good no over cooked rice the meat was well seasoned with lots of flavor. The service was great we were not forgotten about or bothered at all each time she came it was with a smile and thank you.

I love there food and the service...i havent had anyone there with poor service before nor do i think that will ever be the case!! The buffet is open just a lil different setup. The size of the portions are incredible especially for the prices they have!

We like a lot going out. Last night we arrived in this superb place which friends recommended to us. We passed a lovely experience there with excellent dishes and an experienced team and a great chief cook. We added this place in our list and we shall certainly return soon. Highly recommended.

There is a Rascal’s Restaurant behind the Shop Rite, but the most important things to get from Rascal’s Kitchen, its boudin and cracklin’s, are served at the gas station off I-10. The Rascal’s Express counter is at the center of the mini-mart. Most of the food is typical gas station fare, like heat lamp-warmed corn dogs and microwave pizza with ketchup sauce. It isn’t much like the great Cajun butcher shops that make the great boudin of the area, nor is it the best place to experience boudin per se. But the fact is that Rascal’s boudin is excellent. Stopping for some is  a novel opportunity to grab one of America’s great regional delicacies from a gas station with the ease of picking up a bag of chips.

The fresh and frozen meat products Rascal’s produces are set up along a wall of refrigerators near the energy drinks. These products are meant to be taken home (boudin is excellent when grilled). But if you want a road snack, head over to the center kiosk and pick up a hot foil wrapped link. Priced by weight, they are around couple of bucks each, and they make for easy hand-held porky nourishment in the car.

Rascals’ boudin is the closest to a French boudin blanc that we’ve had. It’s more herbaceous than Cajun-spicy, but there is a kiss of cayenne in the finish that makes it taste proper. It’s on the ricier side, which might turn some off, but we dig it. Usually boudin is eaten by itself or with saltine crackers, but we could imagine this stuff with a crusty baguette. 

The boudin balls are far less compelling than the links, which is typical of the many boudin gas stations. They have a nice crunch, and do contain Rascal’s excellent sausage, but they lack the succulence of the real deal.

Cacklin’ are jaw-breaking good. Grab a bag and a few links, and gas up while you’re here.
