MONSTA X

As  festival  season returns in full swing, a massive new K-pop experience is on its way to satiate a growing U.S. audience.

KAMP LA 2022 is the new mega concert coming to Los Angeles’ Rose Bowl stadium this fall with a slate of heavy hitters across Korean entertainment. For the kickoff lineup announcement, KAMP has shared that K-pop boy bands  Monsta X ,  Super Junior  and  iKON  will be joined by solo superstars Kai,  Jeon Somi  and  BamBam . R&B chart-topper  Zion.T will join the bill, as will girl group Lapillus, marking the group’s first U.S. appearance.

The full lineup, including additional headliners, is said to be announced in the coming weeks.

The concert is a joint production from KAMP Global (the South Korea-based entertainment brand that aims to bring K-pop globally through festivals, live events, immersive experiences, and artist representation) and the partnership brand Eventim Live Asia (focusing on Asia’s most prominent live markets).

Held inside Rose Bowl stadium, the two-day event promises connections to Korean art, food and gaming. The fest will also bring brand collaborations, including the likes of Korea’s beloved production studio Dingo Music and LA artist Kenny Scharf creating the KAMP LA 2022 aesthetics.

Trending on Billboard

“It’s exciting to take part in the KAMP LA lineup,” Kai, a member of chart-topping boy bands  EXO  and  SuperM , says in a statement. “This may legitimately be the biggest K-pop event in U.S. history.”

Super Junior leader  Leeteuk  adds that “this is something special that K-pop fans will remember and talk about for years to come.”

The historic Rose Bowl stadium has previously welcomed K-pop fans in the past. According to Billboard Boxscore ,  BTS’  two shows in May 2019 sold 113,040 tickets and earned $16.6 million to make it the single highest-grossing engagement in the venue’s Boxscore history (out-pacing the likes of  Taylor Swift  and  U2 ).

This weekend,  the Head in the Clouds festival will return to L.A. with Asia-spanning talent, including K-pop star Chung Ha , rapper  Jay Park , rising R&B-pop star  BIBI , singer-songwriter eaJ, and  GOT7  member  Jackson Wang .

“Everyone in K-pop wants to break into America,” says KAMP Global CEO Tim Kim. “There’s a deep connection between Korean culture and L.A. This was always the place to start, but we are also going to bring K-pop worldwide with KAMP and Eventim Live Asia. We will go to all markets where K-pop resonates — which is everywhere these days. KAMP isn’t just about mega- concerts or historic events — it’s a culture.”

Eventim Live Asia CEO Jason Miller adds that, “Kim’s vision was immediately exciting. KAMP Global and Eventim Live Asia share a true global vision for K-pop and the experience to make it happen in unprecedented ways. KAMP LA is a meaningful first step in that direction. There are many more to come.”

KAMP LA 2022 takes place between Oct. 15 and 16. Further lineup announcements and ticket sale details are forthcoming. Fans can visit KAMPLA.vip  now to sign up for first-access tickets, VIP giveaways, chances to win backstage access and more.

The organization of the tour schedule looks to be a bit hectic. The Osaka show In July could be lumped in w/ the Tokyo one on the same week in May. After Manila, iKon goes to Europe for 3 shows only to go back to SEA again (Singapore). They go back to Europe in July and go back to Asia for a 3rd time afterwards. The travel costs may be higher bc of this. On another note, it's cool for iKon to play Denver. There aren't a ton of big K-Pop acts who play there.

Martin Lawrence is hitting the road this summer for his first headlining comedy tour since 2016, he announced Wednesday.

The Y’all Know What It Is! tour opens July 20 in Chandler, Ariz., and will travel to 36 arenas across the United States through April 2025. Joining Lawrence are special guests “hand-picked by the comedy maestro,” including Ms. Pat , Desi Banks and Benji Brown, who will support the former “Def Comedy Jam” host at his Dec. 6 show at L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence confirm fourth ‘Bad Boys’ film is a go

In a joint video announcement, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence confirm that a fourth ‘Bad Boys’ movie is indeed happening.

Jan. 31, 2023

The tour will start on the heels of the June 7 release of “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” the highly anticipated fourth installment in the “Bad Boys” franchise, co-starring Will Smith. The trailer for the buddy-cop action comedy was released in March.

Lawrence’s new stand-up show will be a “fresh one-hour set where Martin brings the real talk and finds the funny in everything from family to culture as only he can,” according to a press release.

“Comedy gives me that instant gratification,” Lawrence said in the release. “Seeing the fans up close and in person, making people laugh, doing what I love most, this is what it’s all about for me. But hey … y’all know what it is!”

The comic also shared a promotional video and tour schedule Wednesday in separate posts on Instagram.

Summer Disneyland tickets for $50? There is a catch

By Julie Sharp

May 3, 2024 / 5:30 PM PDT / KCAL News

There's a summer Disneyland deal where kids get in for $50 and adults for $83 a day, not bad for the Happiest Place on Earth.

The catch is, the 2024 summer ticket offer is a $249 three-day, one park ticket, which breaks down to $83 per day for adults. For children the deal is $149 for three days, that's $50 each day.

These three-day tickets go on sale beginning May 29 and are good Mondays through Thursdays, and must be used between June 10, through Sept. 26, 2024. Besides the price, another perk is that the three-day tickets don't have to be used on consecutive days.

Three-day passes for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are also available, but prices go up a bit to $199 for children and $299 for adults, that's $67 daily for kids and $100 daily for adults.

By comparison, a one-day/one-park ticket throughout the week costs between $104 and $194.

There's another deal available until June 2 for Southern California residents. A three-day, one park per day ticket is $225, that's $75 each day, and is good for Monday through Thursday. For $275, the three-day SoCal resident deal is good on any day.

Park reservations are required, and are subject to availability.

Flash back to the when Disneyland opened in 1955, admission tickets were $2.50.

IPW kicks off today in Los Angeles

Post date: May 3 2024

Date: May 3 2024

By: Travelweek

LOS ANGELES — Today marks the opening day of U.S. Travel Association’s IPW, which for the first time in 12 years takes place in the city of Los Angeles.

As the United States’ largest inbound travel trade show, IPW runs from May 3-7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with key events being held throughout the city including the Getty Center, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park and Universal Studios Hollywood.

This year’s show attendance will exceed 2019 levels for the first time since the pandemic and is expected to generate more than US$5.5 billion in future travel to the United States. Throughout the show nearly 100,000 prescheduled business appointments will take place, connecting over 1,700 global travel buyers and press with 5,700 travel professionals representing nearly 70 countries.

“With its incredible diversity and global accessibility, Los Angeles is a perfect city to host U.S. Travel’s IPW and the thousands of travel professionals who are building back international travel to the United States,” said Geoff Freeman, President and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association. “It’s been more than a decade since this signature event has convened in LA, and it will lead to years of new visitation and benefits for the city, the state of California and the country overall.”

Hosting IPW comes on the heels of a stellar year of tourism for Los Angeles. In its 2023 year-end tourism performance, the city welcomed 49.1 million total visitors – 97% recovered to 2019, the city’s benchmark year – including 43.3 million domestic visitors (100% recovered to 2019 levels) and 5.8 million international visitors (nearly 79% recovered to 2019), $40.4 billion in total business sales (106.9% of 2019 levels) and more than 530,000 tourism-related careers for Angelenos. Hotel demand grew to 30.2 million total room-nights sold last year, with hotel occupancy rising to 71.7% and average daily hotel rates reaching $198.

Visitors to LA hail from the United States (43.3 million) as well as from key international markets including the following Top 10 in 2023: Mexico (1.71 million); Canada (780,000); China (400,000); the United Kingdom (310,000); South Korea (269,000); Australia (266,000); France (264,000); Japan (230,000); Germany (190,000); and India (110,000).

Los Angeles Tourism continues to focus on international tourism recovery. While domestic visitation has led the destination’s tourism comeback, overseas visitation continues to see a more staggered recovery, with another 24 months expected until every source market reaches full pre-pandemic levels. LA Tourism maintains a year-round presence in 15 global markets across four continents, including seven of its own LA Tourism overseas offices in the United Kingdom, Australia, China (four locations) and India.

During IPW, Los Angeles will host several events, including the Media Brunch on Saturday, May 4, at The Getty, in partnership with PST ART: Art & Science Collide; Opening Night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, also on Saturday, May 4; and the Closing Event at Universal Studios Hollywood on Tuesday, May 7. The Los Angeles Convention Center will serve as the backdrop of the tradeshow itself, with Visit California providing programming at California Plaza.

“Tourism continues to be an indispensable economic engine for Los Angeles, impacting the livelihoods of more than 530,000 tourism-related careers for Angelenos,” said   Adam Burke, President & CEO, Los Angeles Tourism. “LA is one of the world’s most exciting, inclusive and ever-evolving destinations, and we are privileged to host IPW this year, a watershed moment for Los Angeles’ tourism industry. With sustained global interest in the City of Angels, and with more demand generators now than ever before, we are confident that LA will see the benefits of IPW for years to come.”
