A Dream Home from the Dream Home trait looks on the horizon on Nesoi at sunset.

If you’re ready to start your space property portfolio in Starfield , you can get a villa right from the start. The Dream Home trait , which you can choose during character creation, provides access to a fancy villa on a friendly planet. However, there are a few caveats to consider before diving headfirst into home ownership.

To make sure you’re not caught out by any small print, we’ve covered the entire process below, including how the Dream Home trait works , how to find your Dream Home , and how to pay it off, plus a breakdown on if the Dream Home trait is worth it.

How the Dream Home Trait works

A menu shows the Dream Home trait in Starfield character creation.

Once you’ve spent the customary few hours designing your avatar, you’ll need to pick some traits that will further ground your character. The Dream Home trait saddles you with a hefty debt from the get-go in return for immediate access to one of the best properties in the game.

The debt we’re talking about is a mortgage to the tune of 125,000 credits , which you’ll owe to Starfield ’s intergalactic GalBank. To own the house and use it freely, you will need to pay this debt off. Think of GalBank like a celestial Tom Nook who wants all the money upfront. However, especially in the early game, earning 125,000 credits is a tall order.

A prompt directs the player to pay 500 credits to enter the Dream Home on Nesoi in Starfield.

Alternatively, you can pay 500 credits on a weekly basis to get in the door before settling the debt, though notably, these installments will not deduct anything from the total sum owed. Thankfully, unlike an actual mortgage, if you don’t pay, GalBank won’t evict you. You just won’t be able to get into the house without paying a fee.

If you can cope with paying 500 credits per week, there really is no pressure to settle the debt right away, or at all. As you push through the game, you’ll pick up more expensive loot to sell that’ll easily cover the entrance fee, and eventually, the mortgage itself. If you need a little extra help bringing home the bacon, though, we have a guide on how to earn credits fast that can help boost your finances in the early-game.

Is the Dream Home Trait worth it?

The Dream Home home looms on the horizon at sunset in Nesoi in Starfield.

As is the case with most perks in most RPGs, the trait’s actual value comes down to how you intend to play. Your should be driven by your intentions, whether you’re focused on comfy space living or exploratory pirate pillaging. For someone like me, who enjoys spending my time moseying through space — crafting, cooking and indulging in Starfield ’s astro lifestyle — the Dream Home trait was a smart choice, even with the mountains of associated debt.

However, if you’re more keen on adventuring and don’t want to be beholden to a financial institution, you may want to avoid taking the trait. You don’t need the Dream Home trait to get a home, and will soon get various options. Plus, even with the Dream Home, if you’re a keen adventurer, you’ll likely build outpost as you venture further into space, and you may not see the benefit.

Where to find the Dream Home house

Once you’re in the main game with the Dream Home trait, you’ll have to jump through a few hoops to gain access to your new property. Mainly, you’ll have to complete the “ One Small Step ” main story quest first, which frees you up to explore the galaxy and seek out your new digs.

A map of Nesoi shows the Dream Home location in the Olympus system in Starfield.

Your new home is located on Nesoi in the Olympus system , so hop in your ship, check the Starmap , and grav-jump to that pocket of the galaxy. Once you’ve found Nesoi within the system, you can rotate around the planet until you find the landing point called “ [Player Name] home. ” Land there and ascend a small hill from your ship, and you’ll find the Dream Home house.

How to pay off your Dream Home

An explorer stands outside Galbank in New Atlantis in Starfield while trying to pay off the Dream Home trait.

As we mentioned, you’ll be paying 500 credits per week to use the space, which is taken at the entrance of the property.

If you’re looking to settle the debt completely, though, you’ll need to make your way back to New Atlantis . In the Mast District , seek out the local GalBank on the way back to the spaceport. Here, you’ll find your mortgage broker, Landry Hollifield , who will facilitate the daylight robbery that is paying off your home.

It can take a few nudges to get Landry talking in the right direction, so don’t worry if the Dream Home option isn’t showing up at first. If it’s causing you trouble, just leave the interaction and strike up another conversation until it triggers. The conversational option you’re looking for is: “I want to talk to you about my home on Nesoi.” After a few more exchanges, Landry will give you an option to pay the debt in full.

A GalBank employee sits in a chair in New Atlantis and stares at probably a spreadsheet or at least whatever passes for a spreadsheet in the 24th century in Starfield.

If you don’t want to deal with the debt anymore, Landry also lets you know you will be able to foreclose on the house, nullifying the contract and subsequently the Dream Home Trait. Be careful though, as if you don’t remove all the items inside, they will default to the bank.

How to decorate your Dream Home

 alt=

The dream home is bare bones to begin with, boasting empty bedrooms, bathrooms and a cooking station. Even so, you can craft plenty of things to fill the space, like various tool benches, furniture, weapon and clothes displays and decorations. You can access this crafting menu via a small panel on the wall directly in front of the entrance, or by activating your scanner and selecting the decorate option. Bear in mind that you’ll need resources to craft specific decor, so you might not be living large immediately. In the meantime, though, it’s a great place to dump all your junk!

Starfield: How to Visit Your Dream Home (and Is It Worth It?)

Here's everything you need to know about the Dream House trait in Starfield.

Starfield 's Dream Home trait is one of many optional three traits that players can choose when beginning the game. Like other Starfield traits, it has pros and cons while giving players the house of their dreams within the depths of space.

RELATED: Starfield: How To Get A Home In Neon

However, when choosing traits in Starfield , many players might wonder what's involved when choosing the Dream Home trait and whether it's worth it. The game also gives players limited information on how to customize their dream home, but fortunately, there is a way to remove the trait if players decide it's not for them.

Where to Find Your Dream Home in Starfield

To visit the Dream Home in Starfield , players must first complete the 'One Small Step' mission. The Dream Home mission shortly becomes available after players first meet Constellation at the Lodge. Players can then set a course to visit the dream home located on the planet Nesoi in the Olympus System using their star map, to the right of Alpha Centauri.

On arriving at Nesoi, scan the planet to reveal and set the landing spot location on the dream home icon, labeled after the name players chose for their character.

The Dream Home is locked when players arrive, so players who want to venture inside must pay an interest-only mortgage payment of 500 credits to open the front door, choosing the menu option to pay when selecting the door. This action grants players one week of access to the house before the next payment is due or until the mortgage gets paid in full to GalBank.

Is the Dream Home Trait Worth It In Starfield?

There are several pros and cons of choosing the Dream Home trait in Starfield :

  • Players get instant access to a luxurious home base when first beginning the game and don't have to spend time constructing the overall structure of the building, like when building an Outpost in Starfield . Although pricier than some homes in Starfield , it's cheaper than some properties in places like Neon.
  • It can be fun for players who enjoy lifestyle elements and who want to spend time customizing their space home.
  • The Dream Home trait is quick and easy to remove if players change their minds about having it. If players miss a mortgage payment, they only lose access to the house until they pay rather than lose it entirely.
  • It's expensive, costing 125,000 credits to pay off the mortgage to own the home outright or weekly mortgage payments of 500 credits on a weekly basis, so it's an extra expense that some players might not want. There are more affordable properties in places like New Atlantis.
  • The Dream Home isn't really necessary when players can buy homes or build outposts on other planets to use for benefits like storage and research. Building an outpost on Starfield 's planets also gives players more control over their home structure and location.
  • Although it comes equipped with a kitchen including a cooking station, washroom facilities, and some balcony decor, it's otherwise completely undecorated, and players might not want to spend customizing it.

How to Remove the Dream Home Trait in Starfield

To remove the Dream Home trait , players can tell GalBank representative Landry Hollifield in the Commercial District of New Atlantis that they no longer want the house to foreclose it. When first meeting Landry, players must talk to him about debt collection opportunities, then speak with him again for the house dialogue options to become available. Choose 'The bank can have the house. Go ahead and foreclose.' to remove the Dream Home trait.

Players should also ensure they remove any decorations or items in the property before asking for foreclosure, or they'll belong to the bank. On the flip side, if players want to pay off the mortgage, they can only pay it with the full 125,0000 credits. Paying the mortgage means no more weekly payments or getting locked out, with players buying and owning the property outright.

How to Decorate and Customize Your Dream Home in Starfield

When first walking around the blank, empty halls of the Dream Home, players might wonder how to customize it, as the game doesn't explain where to do this. Two notepads on the kitchen sideboard explain how the mortgage payments and foreclosure work.

To decorate and customize the Dream Home , approach the square console on the wall to the left of the kitchen and select it to choose from several decoration options covering crafting, furniture, decorations, displays, and miscellaneous items. Players can also choose between variant designs of most items according to their tastes, such as different types of sofa.

However, players must farm crafting resources by exploring and surveying planets to construct home decor, as specified on each item's build requirements on the top left of the screen, such as Fiber and Aluminium. Some resources, like farming Caelumite in Starfield for spacesuit modding, are rare or only discoverable on particular planets, whereas those used in decorating are often more readily available, like Structural Material.

Players can then enter Build mode and change the camera position to move and place items around the house how they like, or even remove items and start again.

Starfield is available now on Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Starfield Dream Home Interior On Initial Visit

Where to find your dream home in Starfield, and how to pay it off

Image of Jason Venter

As you start your Starfield journey, you make a lot of choices that determine your early circumstances. Most characters will begin with home ownership limited to a distant dream, but you can get a jump on that process if you wish. Here is our guide explaining where to find your dream home in Starfield , and how to pay it off.

Note:  For more guides from ships to crafting to combat, check out our  Starfield page.

Starfield – where to find your dream home and how to pay it off

Near the very start of the game, you create your character. As part of that process, you select three Traits . One of the available traits is Dream Home , which allows you to begin the game with a home in your name. To find your dream home, select the Dream Home mission from the list of available missions. Paying off the building is a separate process. To pay off your dream home, save up 125,000 credits and hand it over to Landry Hollifeld in New Atlantis.

Your first visit to your dream home

Finding your dream home isn’t especially difficult if you pay attention to the in-game prompts. The Dream Home mission is available starting early in the game, and you also have a ship. When you haven’t yet visited your home, you can select the relevant prompt from the Dream Home menu. For me, it said Visit Your Dream Home on Nesoi . You can find Nesoi in the Olympus system.

Related: 7 pro tips I wish I knew before starting Starfield

Set course for that location and you’ll find that you can’t enter the building unless you pay 500 credits . That’s because while the dream home is in your name, it’s not technically your property. GalBank owns it until you pay your debt.  You can make a one-time visit, but there’s not much to do unless you own it.

Starfield Dream Home Visiting Landry Hollifeld To Pay Debt

Paying for your dream home

When you visit the GalBank building in New Atlantis, talk to Landry Hollifeld to pay for your dream home. He also offers to let you perform debt collection missions on his behalf. The tasks in the Due in Full line each pay a small sum, which won’t be enough to pay off the house. Your debt is 125,000 credits, and you have to pay it all at once.

Related: Best Starfield starter skills explained and ranked

There’s no rush, so save up for as long as you need. If you prefer, you can instead default on the loan and lose the title to your dream home. However, I don’t recommend that approach. If you didn’t want the house, you would hardly have selected that particular trait, right? Later in the game, credits are more common and you can more easily make good on your debt.

Starfield is available to purchase on Steam and the Microsoft Store.

Once inside, players should speak to Landry Hollifield , who will be sitting behind the counter in the right side of the establishment.

He will ask the player if they would like to foreclose The Dream Home, freeing the player from the weekly fees they need to pay, or pay the full amount of 125,000 credits .

Can You Keep The Dream Home Without The Trait?

You lose the home if you remove the trait.

Currently, the only way we know to remove the Dream Home trait is by asking Landry Hollifield to foreclose the dream home. This means you lose the trait, but also lose the home and anything you left inside it in the process.

Starfield: Where To Find The Dream Home

There are plenty of houses in Starfield but this one is your Dream Home.

There's a lot of adventuring in Starfield , but sometimes you want to settle down and live a life of luxury on a far-off planet. Luckily for you, the Dream Home trait allows you to do just that. Without having to lift a finger, you'll have your very own spacious home in the galaxy. For a price.

RELATED: Starfield: Mission Board Guide

Not only will you have to make a jump to get to it, but the house also comes with a steep mortgage on a flexible payment plan. For those who want to focus on the more domestic aspects of Starfield, rather than combat, this can be the perfect escape into the final frontier.

Where Is The Dream Home Located?

If you choose the Dream Home trait , you'll start the game with your Dream Home on Nesoi . You'll need to fly out to the Olympus System to reach it.

Head up the hill from where you land , and you'll find your own expansive home sitting on a hill . When you walk up and interact with the door , you won't be given access.

It seems like you haven't paid the mortgage in a while, and you'll need to make a payment before entering.

How To Pay The Mortgage

If you arrive at your home before speaking to Landry Hollifeld, you'll be prompted to pay 500 credits for one week's access to the house unless the next payment is made or the mortgage is paid in full . You can also speak to Landry Hollifeld to make the payment directly.

There are no penalties for not paying (other than not being able to enter your dream home). Take the time you need to save money and adventure before attempting to pay back what you owe.

Considering the mortgage is 125,000 Credits , it's no small fee, but you can pay it off in smaller parts until you have enough for the whole mortgage. You only have to pay when you want access to the house. Although you'll need to pay the whole balance at once in order to pay off the loan if you speak to Landry Hollifeld.

On the kitchen counter , you'll find two slates: one for the mortgage and one for foreclosure . Your payments are interest only , and the loan is indefinite until paid in full. You can also foreclose at any time with no repercussions.

How To Decorate Your Home

The inside of your home is luxurious and spacious, but also quite empty . You'll need to decorate it yourself if you're going to make it feel like home.

With two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, a loft, a kitchen, and ample living room space, you'll be able to customize to your heart's content .

Any companions you bring to your home can interact with furniture and stations.

Interact with the square panel on the wall by the kitchen to begin decorating your home. You can craft furniture and workstations to fill your home and make it a suitable residence.

How To Get Rid Of The House

If you no longer want the house , or if you don't want to worry about making payments , you can foreclose on the house . This can be done by speaking to Landry Hollifeld at the GalBank location in New Atlantis.

Before foreclosing on the house, be sure to remove any and all furnishings and decorations from the Dream Home. Anything left behind becomes the property of GalBank and you won't see it again.

Foreclosing on the house wipes away the debt without any consequences. You'll be free of the home and the payments tied to it. Feel free to find another home in Starfield that better suits your liking.

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

starfield dream home tour

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
