The Cat Backpack Carrier Ultimate Guide

Getting a cat backpack carrier for your cat can be an adventuring game changer. As someone who put off investing in a cat backpack for a while, I really wish I had gotten one sooner. I can remember one instance in particular when I wished we had one. My husband and I were on a hike with one of our cats, and he quickly and unexpectedly decided that he’d had enough. Unfortunately, he decided this when were still a mile from the car. That mile hike back carrying an angry cat felt like it lasted forever! A backpack carrier would have made the situation a lot more manageable.

In this guide, you can find information on why you should backpack train your cat, how to pick out the right cat backpack, how to train your cat to ride in it, and a list of my favorite backpack carriers.

Before we get to the training tips, let’s start with the reasoning behind investing in a cat backpack carrier, as well as what to look for in one…

4 Reasons to Get a Cat Backpack Carrier

If your cat is already harness and leash trained, you may be wondering, “Why do I need a cat backpack carrier?” They are actually an awesome and highly-recommended adventuring accessory for a few reasons…

1. They are a helpful training tool. If you’re just beginning training your cat for adventures, having them ride in a backpack at first will help to get them acclimated to new situations. Chances are your cat isn’t going to be ready for a long hike or feel comfortable at your local pet store the first time you go. Introducing your cat to these situations slowly is best, and a backpack carrier allows you to do that. Your cat will feel a lot more comfortable in new places if they’re in their backpack than if they’re just out on their leash and harness.

2. They give your cat a “safe place” to retreat to. Even if your cat is an experienced adventurer, you never know what you’re going to encounter when you’re out and about. If your cat gets nervous for some reason or you encounter a potentially dangerous situation, it is wonderful to have that backpack for your cat to escape to. It gives you both peace of mind.

3. They give your cat somewhere to rest. Say you’re on a hike with your cat, and after a mile or two, they get tired. If you have a backpack carrier, you can just put them inside and continue on with your hike.

4. They are versatile! Backpack carriers can be utilized with all types of adventures – hiking, biking, canoeing/kayaking, going to the park, visiting the pet store, hanging out at your favorite restaurant/brewery, etc! Many of them also double as car carriers and even air travel carriers, so they can be used for safer travels all around.

Picking Out the Right Cat Backpack

There are many styles of pet backpacks on the market. Backpacks in all shapes and sizes, backpacks for all different purposes, backpacks that are cute and trendy, and backpacks that are more functional. Finding the one that best suits your needs and is comfortable for both you and your cat is of the upmost importance.

Features to Look For and Things to Consider

• Pick a backpack that is the right size for your cat. Check the dimensions and weight limit of the backpack carrier before purchasing. Don’t just guess your cat’s size and weight either – measure and weigh them so you are sure to pick the right size. A backpack that is too small won’t work.
• Start with a backpack that is expandable. Many backpacks have expanding compartments included so they can double as both a backpack and as a larger carrier or enclosed pen. During the initial backpack training phase, it will be easier to encourage your cat to get inside if you’re able to expand the bag. Otherwise, the backpack might be too confined and small for your cat to feel comfortable going into.
• The activities you plan on enjoying with your cat will have a bearing on what kind of backpack you want. Some backpacks are better suited for urban adventures, while others are best for the serious hiker. Investigate the features of the backpack and make sure it has everything you need. For example, a backpack with no pockets is probably not going to work well for you if you’re planning on doing a lot of hiking and need a place to store your belongings.
• YOUR comfort is important, too. Obviously, you want your cat to be comfortable in whatever backpack you choose. Be sure to consider your own comfort as well though. You’re the one who has to carry the backpack on your back. Make sure the straps are comfortable and padded and that the carrier doesn’t dig into your back or hips in ways that are uncomfortable or even painful to you.
• Pick a backpack that is well-ventilated. You don’t want your cat to get over-heated, uncomfortable, or claustrophobic while riding in an enclosed backpack. Look for a backpack that has mesh windows or ventilation holes of some sort that allow for adequate air-flow and viewing. Most backpacks even allow for the top to unzip so your cat can peek out. Whichever backpack you choose, just make sure it has adequate ventilation for your cat’s safety and enjoyment.
• Check how many openings the backpack has and where they are located. Some backpacks have an opening/entrance just on the top, while others have an opening on the side. The backpack carrier we use has both top and side openings. Whichever one you choose, we recommend one that has at least an opening on the top. That way your cat can poke his head out if he wants to. Having additional side openings is nice too, and they can also be useful during the training stages.
• Consider the structure of the backpack. Some pet backpacks are soft-sided and easily-collapsible, while others are more rigid and firm. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages. If your cat is on the heavier or larger side, a backpack with a more firm base is probably best because it will support your cat better and hold up better under your cat’s weight. Just make sure your cat is comfortable in whichever type you choose.

Features and Styles to Avoid

Pet backpack carriers have become somewhat of a fashion accessory, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, many of the fashion backpacks are designed purely to be cute and stylish. This means they lack many of the functional features you want in a backpack carrier you’ll be adventuring with. That being said, just because a backpack carrier looks super cool doesn’t mean that it isn’t also functional.

• Avoid the backpack carriers that look like space ships. You know the ones I’m talking about – they have that plastic bubble on the front for your cat to look out of. These do look cool and have a sense of novelty to them. However, many are not very well-ventilated and are often small and cramped. Cats tend to like a more spacious backpack, and they need good air flow with mesh windows on all or most sides – not just a plastic bubble on the front. If you are looking at a “spaceship backpack carrier,” check that it has ample ventilation and space before purchasing.
• Avoid the backpack carriers that look like purses. This style of cat carrier often lacks the firmness and stability cats prefer. There is usually no solid base or body, which can be uncomfortable for your cat, especially for longer periods of time. Plus, these carriers are usually made with the intention of your cat’s head sticking out the top. While some cats may not mind that, many often prefer a more fully-enclosed style of carrier, especially in the beginning when they might be more nervous.

How to Train Your Cat to Ride in a Backpack

Below is a step-by-step guide to walk you through how to train your cat to ride in a backpack carrier. The process uses positive reinforcement clicker training methods, so you’ll want to get a clicker and target stick before you begin.

Each training step should be repeated multiple times over multiple training sessions. Once your cat is comfortable with each step and reliably performs the desired behavior, you can move on to the next step in the process.

1. Once you’ve found the right backpack, leave it open and out around your house for your cat to investigate. Cats are generally pretty curious, so your kitty might sniff it out and even jump inside. The goal is for your cat to grow comfortable with the backpack on their own.

2. Throw treats, toys, and/or catnip inside the backpack to help attract your cat to it. You can also try putting one of your cat’s blankets or an article of your clothing inside so the backpack starts to take on familiar scents. Feeding your cat inside their backpack is helpful as well (you might need to lay it on its side to do this).

3. Use positive reinforcement. Just like with any sort of training, positive reinforcement is key. You want your cat to associate the backpack with good things. Reward your cat with treats and praise whenever you see them investigating the backpack or getting inside.

4. Wear the backpack around the house. If your cat sees you walking around the house with the backpack on, it might pique their interest. It will also help get them more comfortable with the backpack’s presence.

5. Once your cat seems to be comfortable with the backpack, use a target stick or finger target to lure your cat inside on cue. You don’t want to close up the backpack quite yet. For this step, the goal is simply for your cat to willingly get into their backpack on cue. (This step requires your cat to be target trained. If you need help with this, I recommend watching this YouTube tutorial: Target Stick Training For Cats by Cat School .)

6. Cue your cat to enter their backpack, close/zip the bag for a couple seconds, open the bag, click and reward. The goal of this step is for your cat to learn that staying in the backpack is good.

7. Gradually increase the amount of time you keep the backpack zipped/closed. Click and reward always.

8. Close the backpack with your cat inside, pick up the backpack for a couple seconds, then set it back down. Open the bag, click, and reward.

9. Gradually increase the distance you pick up the backpack as well as the amount of time your cat remains in the bag. Work up to putting the bag on your back and walking around. When you click and reward, always give the treats inside the backpack to further encourage your cat to stay inside.

10. Work your way up to venturing outside your home. Start by just taking a couple steps outside and then returning in. Gradually increase the distance and amount of time you walk outside with your cat in their backpack. Start in your backyard, then maybe a walk down your street, etc. Be sure to reward your cat with treats and praise along the way! Positive reinforcement is ALWAYS important.

Practical Backpack Tips for When You’re Out and About

No matter how well your cat is trained before going out for your first hike or outing, you will likely encounter situations that throw them off their game. I’ve learned a lesson or two from my mistakes, and I hope my practical wisdom will be helpful for you on your backpack training journey!

• If your cat gets nervous or restless while riding in their backpack, have a spouse/significant other/friend walk behind you. Being able to see the friendly face of someone they know can help calm your cat down.
• If you are adventuring by yourself, you can wear the backpack on your front if your cat gets nervous. That way you and your cat can both keep an eye on each other, and you can pet and reassure your kitty if needed.
• Don’t use the backpack’s leash tether if you have the backpack top unzipped. Though it may seem like a great feature to use to keep your cat from jumping out of their backpack, it can actually be a safety hazard. Imagine walking down a hiking trail with your cat on your back. They decide they want to jump out to explore, but they are tethered in, so they end up hanging by their harness/neck from the backpack. An accident like that could easily lead your cat slipping out of their harness and running off, or even a serious injury.

Dear Emily, my cat and I have been enjoying going on walks around our woods. I also have a good comfi harness and leash, so he can explore the surroundings a bit when we’re outside. But of course his hunter instincts kick in and sometimes he would just love to jump into the bushes or climb up a tree.

I’m so scared that he won’t ever return to me if I let him go or if he managed to escape.

Do you have any experience with that and advice? Would my cat come back to me (soon)?

I don’t have experience with this personally, as I keep my cats on a pretty close leash so I have control over where they’re allowed to go. I don’t let my cats go somewhere where I can’t reach them. That would be my suggestion to you – to not let your cats off leash or up high enough in a tree that you wouldn’t be able to retrieve. I’d also recommend working on his recall training so that way if he does get away from you, the chances of him returning to you are much higher.

5 Free DIY Cat Backpacks You Can Create at Home (With Pictures)

There are multiple reasons that you need a reliable carrier for your cat, even if it is just for trips to the vet. More people are becoming interested in enrichment activities for pets, and one way to enrich your cat’s life is by taking them places. Some cats are homebodies and won’t be pleased with activities out of the house, but if your cat has been trained to be comfortable outside the home, you’ll need a reliable carrier.

However, if you’re going on adventures, the last thing you want is to be responsible for holding a cat carrier the whole time. That’s where backpacks for cats come in, but commercial backpacks can be expensive. Here are some of our favorite DIY plans for making your own cat backpack.

• The 5 DIY Cat Backpack Ideas
• 1. Cat Backpack from a Backpack by Ivona Melania

If you have an old backpack and a cardboard box or two taking up space in your home, you can make this cat backpack from a backpack . It requires a lot of fabric and cardboard cutting, so make sure you have a good pair of scissors.

This project is time-consuming enough to keep you busy for at least a few hours. Make sure to measure all the cuts before you start cutting. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a backpack that isn’t safe and secure enough for your cat.

• 2. Small Pet Carrier by komecake

This small pet carrier is an excellent option because it can be made from almost any bag with a secure zipper closure. This is an excellent way to recycle an old bag you have taking up space at home. If you don’t have a bag at home already, thrift shops are the perfect place to find a bag for this project. Select a bag large enough for your cat to move around in comfortably.

This is a no-sew project, making it suitable for beginners. However, it requires a lot of precise measurements, cutting, and handling of wire and wire cutters, so it isn’t a kid-friendly project.

• 3. DIY Pet Carrier by The Q

This DIY pet carrier is an upgraded version of the cat backpack from a backpack DIY. You’ll need an old backpack for this one, too. The clear bowl may be one of the most challenging items to find for this project. You want something that is lightweight and has a high level of clarity but not something that will crack the first time you bump it against something.

This is a fully customizable project, so you can show your creativity by decorating your cat’s new carrier. Since the main hole in this carrier will be covered with plastic, it’s vital to ensure you make your breathing holes as directed to ensure your cat has excellent airflow.

• 4. Pet Sling by Crafty ECHO

This pet sling isn’t exactly a backpack, but it is a great way to carry around a kitty that isn’t going to get spooked and jump ship. Ideally, your cat should be on a harness and leash when in this carrier for extra security.

To prevent an injury, select materials that are strong enough to hold your cat’s body weight. This includes making sure your sewing stitches are secure and strong. You can sew this sling by hand if you don’t have a sewing machine, but a sewing machine will give you a stronger and more uniform stitch.

• 5. Rolling Cat Carrier by KmiX

The plans for this rolling cat carrier don’t include making it a backpack, but with patience and creativity, you could turn it into something that can be rolled or carried like a backpack. Make sure to select sturdy cardboard for this project, doubling it up as needed for maximum security and comfort for your cat.

By making the carrier narrower or with fabric elements built into it, you can attach backpack straps to it for carrying. If you make it as the plans suggest, you’ll likely be uncomfortable carrying it on your back. This is not a great project for off-roading with your cat, but it is a good way to get them from place to place on smooth floors or ground.

• Special Considerations

When making any type of DIY pet carrier , you need to keep a few things in mind. The first thing is that your pet’s safety and security should always be the top priority. If you’re unsure of your ability to pull off a project without it being secure, move on to a different one. The last thing anyone wants is for their cat to escape from their carrier while on a hike or near a busy roadway.

The second consideration is that whatever you make needs to have plenty of airflow. Even though a fabric may seem breathable, it may not allow enough air through to keep your cat safe and comfortable. Airflow is important for breathing but also for helping your cat safely maintain their body temperature.

Lastly, you may rely on a DIY cat backpack for quick trips, but if you’re going to be taking your cat anywhere where they could become injured or lost, like forests, you can purchase a commercially made cat backpack that is made with industrial machines that ensure its security.

Making a DIY backpack for your cat can be a fun weekend project, and many of these DIY projects are a great way to use materials you already have at home. Recycling materials, like used backpacks and cardboard , instead of sending them to a landfill is an eco-friendly way to provide your cat with something new.

Ensure you properly acclimate your cat to leave the house before expecting them to become a full-blown adventure cat. Some cats enjoy staying at home and are nervous or frightened by leaving the house, especially outdoors, where the noises and smells are new to them.

We’ve been backpacking with our cat Yoda mostly since moving to Mexico. Being able to bring Yoda along to sandy beaches and on short hikes in the jungle has just been wild!

Backpacking with cats was completely new for us a few months ago, but now we are able to go on backpacking rides with our cat now whenever we want – or when he wants, really!

Yoda is super curious about the outdoors, so he loves to ride along in his cat backpack . He loves sniffing the fresh air, watching the birds fly, and chewing on all kinds of grass!

1. DO Train Your Cat to Travel in a Backpack

Training your cat to go in a cat backpack might require some time and patience, but it’s worth it!

If your cat is completely new to backpacks, let them get familiar with one first. Entice them to lie down in it as a bed, play, and give treats whenever they interact with it.

Beyond that, making sure your cat can feel comfortable once the backpack is lifted on your back is really important – as this is what the majority of backpacking with a cat is about!

If you’re solo, we recommend carrying the backpack on your front side for the first few trips! This way you can keep an eye on your cat.

DON’T Force, Cage, or Trick Your Cat into the Backpack

Never try to force and quickly close the backpack on your cat. Doing so might spook your cat more than anything, and they’ll likely try to get out during your whole backpacking trip. Just don’t do it!

2. DO Invest in a Spacious & Practical Cat Backpack

We must include this because, while it may seem obvious, there are dozens of cat backpacks now on the market that it can be hard to choose a really good one.

Cat backpacks all vary in size and style, but we recommend investing in one with high-quality material, several breathable holes and/or mesh, an easy top-down or front access, and a backpack that is large and spacious .

Above all, consider the size and comfort of your cat!

DON’T Sacrifice on Size or Quality

It can be tempting to buy the “cuter” cat backpack, but chances are it’s not as practical or sturdy as some others.

Remember, a cat backpack is a long-term investment . If there is a backpack that’s $10, $20, or even $30 less vs. another one, make sure to compare the two and really analyze the differences in quality.

3. DO Practice at Home Before Going Outdoors

Just like with harness and leash training , you’ll want to practice having your cat ride in the backpack at home before heading outdoors.

Once your cat is comfortable enough to ride around from room to room in your home, chances are they are ready for the next big step: Going outside.

During your in-home training, try to walk and behave naturally – make pretend hiking movements, stops, turns, and so on. Doing so will train your cat to adapt to all of your types of movements (and not just simply walking).

DON’T Overdo Your 1st Trip Together

A big mistake to make on your first cat backpacking trip is to overdo the whole thing. If the trip is too long, if the weather is too hot, or if your cat isn’t feeling secure, all of your progress will start to dwindle. Slowly but surely.

Always begin with short trips before endeavoring to go on long walks or hikes with your cat in the backpack.

4. DO Go to Quiet, Safe Places at First

You might badly want to try out that new park or hike up to a magnificent vista with your feline friend. But it’s important to only go to safe and quiet locations at first. Save the big stuff for later, once your cat is a pro at backpacking.

DON’T Start Out at Busy Parks or Trails

Busy streets, parks, or trails can just have “too much going on” for your cat. Of course, this depends on each cat’s personality. But generally speaking, cats will scare much easier when there are too many people, too many cars, dogs, or noise, and so on.

Remember to take it slowly and you’ll set yourself (and your cat) up for success!

5. DO Bring Extra Water, Treats, Harness+Leash, Etc.

Always bring an extra bottle of water just for your cat! That’s right. Keeping your feline cool and hydrated is an important part of backpacking with a cat.

Cats sweat through their paws, so they don’t physically show when they’re already overheating. A panting cat is really exhausted and needs to cool down asap!

Bringing a goody bag of your cat’s favorite treats is a wise decision. You should always give a treat for positive behavior!

If you already have attached your cat’s harness and leash, great! But if your cat will be in the backpack without it, it’s always a good idea to just bring it. You’ll need a harness to take your cat out for breaks anyway.

DON’T Forget About Your Cat’s Bathroom Needs (Travel-Sized Litter Pan?)

While most cats can go several hours between litter box trips, some cats need to urinate or go potty more frequently.

Bringing a collapsible or travel litter box can help ease your cat and make them more comfortable for their backpack ride. Asking them to just hold on to their pee isn’t so nice!

Especially bring one for longer trips or if your cat doesn’t feel secure going outside in nature.

6. DO Plan Your Trip AMAP (As Much As Possible)

Plan the weather, plan the itinerary, plan your breaks, plan, plan, plan!

Planning your backpacking trip with your cat will help minimize trouble. Of course, you can’t control the weather, but making sure to go at optimal times of the day when it’s not too hot or windy will result in an overall more enjoyable experience backpacking with your cat.

DON’T Underestimate or Overjudge Your Cat’s Abilities

While you might have a cat exploring warrior on your hands, try not to overjudge your cat’s abilities and endurance. Just bouncing around in a backpack can get tiring for your cat, so always consider their comfort.

On the other paw, don’t underestimate your cat’s abilities either. Some cats are more curious and agile; they’ll love to hop out and explore every now and then. Some cats might just like to take in the views from the safety of the backpack. And that’s ok!

7. DO Take Breaks Every 30 Minutes

Make sure to take breaks at least once every 30 minutes or so when backpacking with a cat! Cats aren’t used to wobbling around in a closed space for long periods of time. Let them rest. It’ll be good for both of you!

Breaks or short pauses are the perfect time to give your cat some water, a treat, or a chance to use the litter box (if you brought one).

DON’T Ignore Your Cat’s Meowing

While some nervousness is normal for cats riding in new places in a backpack, know that it’s not normal for your cat to be constantly meowing or crying.

Meowing isn’t a sign your cat’s enjoying their backpack ride, so make sure to attend to your cat’s needs in case they do start to meow. They might be trying to tell you their too hot, they can’t see well enough, they need to rest, get down, or simply they just want to go home!

Don’t think that they”ll just “get over it”, because that will do way more harm than good.

8. DO Make Safety a Priority

Backpacking with cats comes with new challenges. You’ve got to be aware of your surroundings more than you if you weren’t out exploring with a cat.

Weather, temperature, space, pace, location, wildlife, dogs, humans, water… All of these things you should take into consideration when out backpacking with your cat.

DON’T Let Your Cat Explore in Off-Leash Dog Parks/Trails

If you’re unsure whether a park or trail allows off-leash dogs, it’s better to keep your feline in the backpack. Even if your cat is okay being around new dogs, know that not all dogs will be so friendly to your cat.

It’s better to let your cat explore on their harness and leash in areas you’re familiar with.

9. DO Use a Cat Tracker or ID Tags

Cat trackers – GPS or otherwise – are great ways to securely keep tabs on your adventure cat!

Just in case of a backpack or harness malfunction and your cat escapes, you don’t want them bolting off into the great unknown with no way of finding them back.

Make sure to at least have some sort of identification tag on your cat, in the event of a mishap! It’s better to be safe than sorry, as they say.

DON’T Assume Your Cat Won’t Escape/Get Lost

You never know what could make your cat run off. Accidents do happen, no matter how much we plan that they don’t. Just be smart about backpacking with a cat and know there’s always a risk when you go out exploring with your feline.

10. DO Let Your Cat Out to Stretch (Use a Harness/Leash)

Whether you simply hold your cat in your arms or let them down to walk on the ground for a few minutes, it’s important to let the cat out of the bag (literally!) and give them the chance to stretch .

Cat backpacks can be large and spacious without being super roomy. While your cat may lie down comfortably in their backpack, they’re probably not able to stretch out their toebeans fully.

Letting your cat explore and stretch will invigorate their senses, anyway. It’s a win-win for everybody!

DON’T Forget About Wildlife, Fleas, Toxic Plants, Etc.

If you do let your cat explore a little on their harness and leash while out backpacking, make sure to consider wildlife in the area. Not just for your safety, but for the critters safety, too!

Along those lines, think about providing your cat with an effective flea and tick repellent, like the Seresto flea collar . We’ve been using Seresto for years now and have awesome success at keeping fleas at bay whenever Yoda is out exploring.

Lastly, don’t let your cat just chew on any type of plant. Grass is ok – but make sure you know your stuff because many plants are toxic to cats  that you might not know about.

11. DO Give Rewards Along the Way, Especially After!

In the midst of all the fun you’re having backpacking with your cat, don’t forget to reward them with plenty of treats! A backpacking cat is not your ordinary feline – make sure to treat them like royalty!

Associating the backpack with positive rewards is key to not only training cats to enjoy the backpack but maintaining that enjoyment for future backpack trips.

DON’T Overfeed Your Cat Just Before the Trip – Backpacking Can Get Bumpy!

Definitely avoid overfeeding your cat right before you go out hiking. You might think it’s a good idea initially, but as you’ll see, cats in backpacks will have a little bounce.

Overfeeding just might make them feel nauseous.

12. DO Clean Backpack + Cat Gear After Your Back Home

An amateur mistake most of us will make after our first backpack trip is not cleaning our gear. You just invested in this awesome cat backpack, make sure to take care of it!

After hiking twice with Yoda, we realized how dirty he had gotten the inside of the backpack. His fluff had picked up tons of dirt, leaves, dust, twigs, which we brought back inside the house.

DON’T Wait Too Long to Go On Another Adventure!!

I did what two of the 'don'ts' which was I took her out before she got comfortable with the backpack and I also tricked her into the backpack with treats then quickly closing it. She still sleeps on the backpack and don't mind laying on it. Is there a way to help her regain confidence in the backpack? Or have I ruined one chance?

Hi Kate! Not to worry, you can train her again, but slowly next time. That's a great sign she is still using it for sleeping and relaxing! I would advise you to try to put her in her backpack, lid open, and wear it on your front side so you can calm her and keep her in while you just walk around your yard (don't forget the treats!) x

5/5 Cat Harnesses!

Overall I have really enjoyed my experience with Travel Cat, I had browsed their website before but never purchased anything. Once I started training my cat to go outside with a harness I received from a friend, I knew I wanted to purchase at least one harness from Travel Cat. The harnesses shipped out within a day of me placing the order and arrived super quick! It fit both my cats incredibly well and these were much easier to get on my cats without much struggle. I feel confident that they won’t slip out of these ones and will definitely be purchasing more in the future!!

The navigator backpack

We had never purchased a harness for our cat before, but we are so happy with our experience with Travel Cat! The size guide was spot on. We ordered a size S for our 7lb domestic medium hair cat and it fit him perfectly. It’s comfortable yet snug and easy to put on him. Plus, the Hawaiian print is so cute and unique! This is my 3rd backpack I’ve bought for all my cats

I got my new little girl kitten the large pink backpack and she absolutely loves it, she knows when I get it out we are going on an outing. It’s very well made and I feel super safe with her in it, customer service was amazing and it was delivered very quickly

"Fat Cat" Backpack For The Win!

I have the "Fat Cat" Backpack for my 13 lbs cat Maverick and it's purrfect for him! There's not many cat backpacks on the market big enough for cats over 10 lbs. but this one is. He's comfortable inside it, it retains it's shape, and it's easy to use. I've had mine for about 5 years now and it still looks almost brand new. I highly recommend this backpack for the larger kitties out there!

BEWARE: NO MONEY BACK

I purchased several cat harnesses after reading lots of reviews, but when they came and we tried them on it wasn't a good fit. I went to make a return and get my money back only to find out this company doesn't offer true returns, only store credit. Not to mention I accidently ordered two sets of their cat beds. So now I'm stuck with hundreds of dollars of store credit that I don't know if I'll be using. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Great Company and Great Products

I have a couple of products I've bought from them ranging from their harnesses to backpacks to collars. I have also talked to their customer support on a couple items and they've been nothing but informative and helpful. Their products are great quality and have been able to handle my cats even biting at them when they first started wearing them. The backpack I have that can hold two cats has many wonderful features that I've enjoyed for hiking or even taking them to the vet. Working with customer support and returns has been easy too, as I was struggling to find a harness that fit my cat because she was in-between sizes. They were helpful and I finally figured out which harness size to choose and how to adjust it. Overall the company has been wonderful to deal with and produces quality stuff. The Navigator and The Boop Coop

We bought The Navigator and The Boop Coop. Both really well made products. As soon as you open them you can tell that it’s been made well and they’re both very sturdy. The navigator is great for carrying one of our cats on a walk, and the Boop Coop is perfect for vet trips (so our two boys can stay together for moral support). I found it so hard to find a carrier that fits two cats, but the Boop Coop is the perfect fit. It’s also nice and tall, which gives them enough space to sit up if they want to. It also has attachments for their harnesses. We’ve even had comments on how good it looks in the vet waiting room!

customer service goes above and beyond with a quick and courteous response. they were able to solve my issue extremely conveniently leaving me very satisfied with the results. the staff truly seems to love and care about cats. the harnesses are superior to all other harnesses i’ve tried. definitely worth the money to make sure your kitty is comfortable and secured in. the backpack… i have the airy outdoors backpack for camping/hiking and let me tell you my cat LOVES it. he uses it in the car, the house, stores, on walks, camping, everything. i’ve never used to sideways as a carrier to the vet but the vet staff seems to like the backpack better as well! he doesn’t get jerked around as much as in a side carrier. he loves to be strapped in and have the back screen fully open to he can look out at everything. 10/10 would recommend for anyone wanting to take their fur babies out safely and comfortably! 🧡 not to mention, they partnered with jackson galaxy so they must have his seal of approval!

Navigator review

I've been using the navigator cat backpack for a week now and both myself and my cat are loving it. Storage for a couple water bottles (or coffee and water 🙂). More storage on the other side and inside. I also found a good spot to mount an action camera for in bag footage of our travels. My 5 month old kitten Naya did manage to jump out and dangle one or twice from her harness but I think she's learned already not to do that. With both the top and front mesh open Naya gets to look at the world and sometimes reach out and touch things. The only minor issue is inside leash length. I wish the two leashes were in different spots (one at the top and one at bottom of inside the bag). Just so you have more variation with leash lengths. I also have the fat cat backpack but have yet to try it. Will probably be hard to decide between the two on which one to keep.

Ordered a back ordered 150$ backpack

Ordered a back ordered 150$ backpack. Waited 3 months to get it. Well fedex delivered the backpack to the wrong house and I know because they took a pic of the wrong porch. Called fedex they said they can't do anything and to get ahold of the shipper to file a claim. Its been 3 weeks I've messaged them multiple times to get it resolved. There not answering me so I guess I'm screwed out of 150$ I wouldn't recommend anybody ordering from this place there a scam.

I have a very bad feeling about this…

I have a very bad feeling about this company. Placed an order on August 2nd and was sent a tracking number and it has still not been tendered to FedEx. And I am obligated to Afterpay because I used them to pay and if I don't receive it I will be messed up all the way around because Afterpay doesn't fully refund. Khan can get out of most harnesses

Khan can get out of most harnesses we have tried. I had to put 2 different kinds on him so he couldn’t easily escape. This one is light enough for our 90 degree weather yet he hasn’t tried to get out of it!
