I was an employee at Gaura Travel

I was an employee at Gaura Travel, I worked at the Kolkata office named Global Travel Xperts. I shared Some of my experiences, 1) The Office environment is very toxic. My colleagues do all types of malpractices to get a booking and TL's are helping them to do that. 2) The HR, The Worst HR I have ever seen. Named Diya, She Just came to the office to sleep and scrolled the mobile, The best thing Here is a policy called ZTP, But it does not apply to her. She did all the malpractices but no one even the CEO never warned or punished her for this. Everyone knows that stealing money from petty cash, But still she is HR Here🤣🤣. All Employees need to follow the in-out schedule here, But she never follows that even the HR Manager and CEO Know that but no one takes any action. 3) NOW HR Manager, He is one kind of diya. 4) The CEO, Saurav Chakrabarty, is Kind of a confused man. He has greater knowledge, But here is what others say he believed and did the same. 5) I'm a tele-caller here, And I know very well that the motto of this company only takes bookings, After booking you never get any proper solution they only transfer your call to this department to this department. And regarding the refund you just think that you are giving your money to water. 6) The IT Team, They are not looking like IT They are looking like toilet man, whenever we need to go for the toilet or BIO Break we need those people's permission to go out. 7) The TLs, TLs Are best, They teach us how to do malpractices, How to avoid calls, How to steal someone's booking, How to take fewer calls and maintain your conversion When we take much amount calls then they ask us to come for feedback and we take some chil-Pill one that feedback room. we discussed out personal matter on that room. All TLs Are the same I know because I moved to all teams one and one. 8) One thing if any booked from here for good review, It'a a scam, Because we do outbound calls to take good review and give them a 25 $ voucher.

INEFFECIENT AND IRRESPONSIBLE - DON'T BOOK WITH THEM

15DAYS CANCELLATION POLICY NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE IN THE DOCUMENT! LOST ALL 1200 DOLLARS. BECAUSE THE COMPLAINTS TEAM DIDN'T REPLY ME ON TIME, THE DATE CHANGE CAN ALSO NOT BE DONE ON TIME AS INFORMED BY THE DATE CHANGE TEAM! YOU GUYS ARE TERRIBLE AND IRRESPONSIBLE, specially you SURPIYA who after my repeated requests didn't call back on time and just informed me at 8 pm Melbourne time, WHEN THE TIME FOR AIRLINES IS CLOSED. Because of your delay, I now can't even change my date. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Experience! HORRIBLE

Harassment and biggest shame

The worst service , it's a big fraud and conspiracy . They show lower prices and assure you give best service but the moment u pay 5 % they change prices and ask u to pay higher price and demand rebooking which means extra 5 % Money. Call transfer keep happening bw people and none is reliable. They gave serious harassment after we gave full money to them and no tickets issued insteqd they said book again and pay extra charged plus booking fees. I don't know what ll I do but this is first time this emotional and financial stress that made my trip like worst trip already before starting , I feel foolish myself that people left similar reviews still I went with them even I called 5 more agents I found the price initially very competitive . So don't fall on same trap like me. Don't go with them ,let this company fall apart, and go bank crupt as all the money they made is through mistrust and fraud .

Scammer - Don't accept Credit Card

I booked my wife and my daughter's tickets two days back and paid 5% via credit card / debit card then I tried to pay rest of 95% using credit card / debit card then they told me Gaura Travel can't accept this payment method!!! Generally scammers don't accept credit card because for all the frauds bank refunds full money!! Beware of Gaura Travel!!!

They are very fake and made their own rule to not refund money. The company should close, if one person had injured bad and in hospital on the day of travel ,submit medical document even they said cannot refund money. Ticket cost was $7000. Medical reason had avoided by them can they tell why? During covid time all airlines refunded money exept them.please don't book with them.

GDEAL is a rip-off

GDEAL is a rip-off, AVOID this agent They advised me to book under Gdeal, I did and paid $899, but the price they show or advertise don't exist. My travel plan changed told them to cancel booking, they refused the refund, later when argued and sent follow-up emails another email came advising they will deduct $450 cancellation fee which is airlines fee and the refund will take 5 months or more, I contacted the airlines about the booking they advised in email there is no request of booking under my name. This business is using our money and ripping off clients in the name of airlines.

They have no office in Australia

They have no office in Australia. All they have is a call centre at 11 th floor , Infinity Towers, Sector V , Saltlake, Kolkata, India. The agents are paid $200-$300 per month making them work for 6 days a week. They scam people.

Date of experience : 16 April 2024

DO NOT TRUST

DO NOT TRUST 3 major incidents of randomly changing fees after all is finalized. No response from Management. the quoted fee per ticket was upped by $200 costing me extra $800 the staff were scared management would cut their pay. The Australian management must be unethical. change fee was randomly changed from 280 to 340 no explanation. The re book ticket fare was $500 more in just 40 hours. I found the same ticket for $500 less on another site and booked it there.

Cheats lacking transparency

They don't reveal the full details and withhold the information. When I booked the tickets, I was told the ticket was fully refundable and the amount I paid was the same as on the website of the airline which was also fully refundable. I had to cancel the ticket, no one were able to provide any information and I was told to go through a process of registering online and requesting a refund. In all my booking with the airlines, there is always details on the cancellation charges, date changes etc. These people don't reveal the information and they charge the amount as they wish. Never ever book with these cheats. They are doing a disservice to the community and I hope they are caught soon. Having read others feedback, I wonder how they still exist (by cheating poor customers).

Took refund from the airline and kept it

Waiting for my tickets cancellation refund from these guys from before covid in January 2020. It has been 31 months. The form I filled online for ticket cancellation said a refund will be issues in 4-6 months and I called the airline next day to find out why it will take so long. They said your refund has already been issues. Waiting for my refund for almost 3 years now.

Never again...

Gaura Travel agents are misleading people when its time to make reservations, then they have no answers to the question asked. using terms like 'maybe' 'try this' are not the proper answers.

Flight cancelled by airline poor service

Our flight to india is on 09th Dec from Mel to Syd to hongkong to mumbai. Flight from Melbourne to Sydney by Cathay pacific got cancelled. Firstly this was not informed by Gaura travels but we found out when we were checking for baggage limit There is only one person in the organiztion who can do date change. I and wife have made multiple calls and dropped email but very few email get responses While calling Gaura, the calls get disconnected and they are unable to call us back after being in call for 15-20 min. The call gets transferred and we need to give reference and reason for call every time to new customer I had agreed options to be taken by Gaura to Cathay pacific 5 days back and gaura has not able to finalize those option with Cathay pacific. Last i check all the option discused are now full. One option that was provided was for me to pay the difference of fare or cancellation fee when the cancellation was done by the Airline (why would customer pay for cancellation of the ticket by airline) No urgency shown by Gaura to resolve my flight cancellation. When we need to book a flight u get prompt followup and multiple followup but nothing when you have to resolve the genuine issue. I am planning to go to VCAT if the issue is not resolved. Abhishek and Ashwini Sonthalia are you looking at bad customer experience and mental torturte this causes to customer. Ihave been with Gaura for last 10 years and this is the service i get

Indian offices, zero customer service, cuts you off and pick another call, and never call back

I am from Melbourne. The agent never says his name clearly as they want to hide their name. They say it so fast that even an Indian will have to ask 5 times to spell it out. In the last 3 years, I decided to book 3 tickets with them two times. The first time a lady from the Kolkata office [I questioned to tell it out] told me she will ring me with 3 quotes in the next 30 min. Never rang me. I booked with SA direct hence. Today, they cut me off while booking return tickets to India. Did not call me back. I called back immediately. Another person said Dev is busy with a new customer. I said I have not finished with Dev. If this time Gaura tells me to stuff up, I will never ever call Gaura and will tell all my friends to back off. The new guy too hung up on me now! Unbelievable. Untrustable. Pathetic service management in 2022. Gaura will not and should not last long. Imagine asking for a refund from them! I heard that Gaura is a tiny office with one or two rookies. It is a SCAAAAM. You have been warned.

Terrible experience! Very unprofessional! Don’t believe a word!

We booked a ticket for my grandad through Gaura Travels from Brisbane to Delhi via Kuala Lumpur with Malindo Airline. We were initially reluctant to book this flight as my grandad suffers from dementia and Parkinson disease; disembarking and boarding multiple flights would take a heavy toll on his body!! However, the agent reassured us that the flight is direct, only stopping at Kuala Lumpur for refuelling, all passengers stay on board. We double, triple checked the information with the agent too! We were extremely disappointed to find out that the flight stopped in Kuala Lumper and all the passengers had to disembark! Even worse was that the flight stopped in Denpasar, Indonesia before landing in Kuala Lumper!! This information was never provided to us on the itinerary!!! We were lied to by the agent, I feel that Gaura travels SCAMMED US!! The Covid situation, lack of flights, visa expiring, most of the passengers did not have a lot of options to fly back to India. We were in a vulnerable situation and Gaura Travels took advantage of the crisis. The agent hurried us by saying that there were limited tickets available, offering a discount code, and of course saying “YES” to all of our requests. The agent offered to increase my grandad’s check-in allowance at a discounted price for peace of mind, it seemed like an ideal option! However, disappointingly, the staff at the airport counter reduced our baggage at the last moment by 10kg!! We paid for 40kg check-in luggage with Gaura travels and we were forced to limit our baggage to 30kg with no lenience!! Terrible management, and unprofessional to say the least!! My grandad thankfully reached Delhi, but it was obvious that he was tired and confused! Gaura Travels made a bad situation worse!! They knew everyone’s position but chose to manipulate us and play with our emotions!! Extremely disappointed, never booking through Gaura Travels again!

They are fraud. Don't put your elderly parents comfort and safety at risk.

I booked flight for my elderly father from Adelaide to Delhi. They gave me quote of Virgin Australia flight from Adelaide to Melbourne and then Singapore Airline from Melbourne to Delhi via Singapore. Nd They charged me for the abovementioned flight and the only reason for choosing the flight was safety, comfort, and shortest route. Two days before the flight I got call form their customer service that “due to lockdown in Melbourne, it is recommended that you travel from Adelaide to Sydney and then from Sydney to Delhi via Colombo with Srilankan Airline”. The travel agent tried his best to convince me that this is the best flight considering the lockdown in Melbourne. When I questioned him how its going to affect my dad’s flight as he is not going out of Melbourne Airport. He then changed his tone and stated, “I will mention in notes that you only want to fly from Melbourne and with Singapore Airline”. Then just less than 24 hours before flight, they changed the Virgin Australia flight from Adelaide to Melbourne without advance notice or consent. Also, the waiting time at Melbourne was increased form 4 hours to 12 Hours. I spoke with then numerous times and explained that my Dad had been operated for throat cancer last year, he has been diagnosed with depression and waiting for longer time in public areas at airport will expose him to COVID-19 infection. It is completely unfair, and Gaura Travel should at least make arrangement for their food and accommodation at airport or provide him the other travel arrangements. But even after tens of calls and email back and forth nothing happened. They failed in their customer services and were completely unhuman and unethical in their dealing with customers. I honestly would request all the Indians in Australia not to trust such dodgy travel agents who put their profits first and claims to uniting families all over the web.

We are always trying to improve our service and would love to get our consumers' feedback; you can file a complaint at https://gauratravel.com.au/complaint-submission-form/. Terrible service, poor processes and systems

UPDATE.................................................................... Gaura reached out to me the day I posted this, asked for details and promised to "escalate". After that, they stopped responding. Anyone checking the review would think it's been resolved. Not so true.. ............................................................................... Booking ID 74671 - MEL-SIN-DEL 20Dec2022 DEL-SIN-MEL 05Jan2023 Gaura Travel changed my return dates (DEL-MEL)due to overbooking. I accepted on the condition that they compensate me. Had heaps of trouble getting connecting flights (which were booked through then) synced. Their overseas number does not work, call centre cannot/will not help, just blame the airlines and do not transfer the call to anyone else. Their complaints team doesn't care or resolve your issue and the "Brand Manager" repeats the same response to every complaint. Now that the trip is complete they refuse to respond about the compensation, don't even acknowledge email or provide info over the phone. Absolutely the worst agency I've interacted with. Will never book through them again. Please don't risk your time, money, and peace of mind with this mob. If you still want to go ahead, be aware of these things (from my experience): -There is no cooling off time or blocking tickets. You have to confirm and pay immediately (while on the phone with them) .e-tickets are issued a week prior to departure. Gaura systems are not in sync with the airlines - actual travel dates may be different - you only know for sure when you get the e-tickets -You cannot make changes to parts of your journey. Have to cancel the full trip (to and return) even if you wish to change only one leg for one passenger. - domestic travel could be a separate booking. Changes are made to the international sector (even by agency), may not reflect on the domestic trip. Took me 8 calls to get it corrected (DEL-MEL day before BOM-DEL) - Local number in India does not work. While in India, have to call Australia to speak to them - Promises to call back are just promises most of the time - The airlines will not deal with you and will point you back to the agent

Masks mandates no longer in effect on domestic and international travel

  • Post author By Helen Tsantikos
  • Post date 12/09/2022

Due to the ongoing pandemic, mask mandates during air travel have become the norm, often to the annoyance and discomfort of travellers everywhere. Well, ‘The Great Unmasking’ is now here! As of September 9 th , Australia’s Federal Department of Health has advised that masks are no longer required during air travel.  As a result, all flights travelling to Australia on or after 12.01am on 9 th September 2022 (AEST) will no longer require its passengers to wear a face mask during the duration of the flight.

This change will affect all domestic flights within Australia, as well as international flights travelling to Australia. There is an exception to this, however, as different destinations may have their own mandates and requirements, certain flights travelling from Australia will still require the wearing of masks for the duration of the flight. Therefore, the Department of Health advises that travellers should be aware of the local requirements and restrictions of their destination prior to their departure.

On all Qantas flights enroute to London, Rome and the USA, mask mandates during air travel have been lifted. In addition, all flights operating through Singapore Airlines will also no longer require its passengers to wear masks, however this may also depend on the destination of your flight. While flights operating to and from Singapore, the USA, the UK, France, Switzerland, Thailand and New Zealand do not require its passengers to wear masks, travellers are advised to check the requirements of their planned destinations and follow the local health advice accordingly.

Domestic airlines have been encouraging passengers to wear facemasks on local flights since May 2020, and in the year following the federal government ruled it as a mandatory requirement on all domestic flights from and within certain states and territories. However, since mid-June this year, airports across Australia have announced that wearing masks is optional, and now that this choice has spread to within the aeroplane itself, travellers will be overjoyed knowing that they will be able to fly comfortably to the land Down Under.

Samosa Starting off strong with the savory foods, we can’t forget Samosas! Samosas are small, triangle shaped, pockets of pastry stuffed with mouth-watering ingredients including minced meat, grains, curry potatoes and vegetables as well as different kinds of spices to add both flavour and colour. An all-time favorite traditional Indian snack, whichever festival you celebrate, it’s not complete without samosas. Aloo Tikki Aloo tikki are small, patty-shaped potato cutlets which are well-known as one of the indigenous snacks to the North Indian subcontinent. There are a few ways to call this tasty snack, as it is also known as Aloo Ki tikkia, Aloo ki tikki and Alu tikki. It’s prepared using boiled potatoes, peas, herbs and various authentic curry spices and served with a mint or yogurt dipping sauce. This is one popular street food snack that you’ll never want to miss! Pakora Deep fried spiced potato and onion fritters coated in seasoned chickpea batter…aren’t you craving it already? Of course you are! When it comes to Festival season, this street food is a must have. Most Indian restaurants around the world serve pakora as an appetizer, so you can get your fix any time of year. Best Airports to travel to?

  • Post date 28/07/2022

We all know that India and Australia have their fair share of airports. What’s more, is that India is known as the third largest domestic civil aviation market in the world right after the USA and China. With that knowledge, let’s dig deeper to discover the best airports in-between our target destinations of India and Australia.

When the pandemic caused distance between you and your family, it pained us. We knew we had to burn this fuel and set out on our mission to reunite you with your loved ones.

When our first charter flight took off in July 2020, with it also soared our goal to get you all closer to your home. With every flight, we got stronger and the distance weaker. Let’s just say, with every obstacle we grew more persistent on our goal. With your love and support, we have reunited more than 12,000 families till date, and today marks as another benchmark.

Our 75th Charter Flight from India to Australia

It’s a privilege to share that we are now 75charter flights old! Yes, we have reached the platinum on 30 th August with the world renowned Srilankan Airlines and IndiGo Airlines.

Then flight departed from the major cities in India – New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad to Chennai where they all met to catch the flight to Australia and celebrate the success of our charter journey!

The flight will reach Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane on  2 nd September and many will be back with their families.

We Cannot believe we stand at 75 unstoppable flights today. This journey has made us the leaders in repatriation flights between India and Australia. We outpaced all restrictions, border closures and hurdles to be your best way home, and we couldn’t be happier.C

Celebrating With Gaura Family

To  celebrate this glorious occasion, we shared the joy with the our passengers in Chennai, India who were flying with us to Australia! Celebrations took over and there was music, flowers, cake and delicious lunch served. We couldn’t have achieved this milestone without the love and support of our Gaura family.

This has been nothing but a beautiful odyssey for all of us. When one door closed, another opened…and we couldn’t be more grateful to you guys for supporting us at every step.

Seeing the joy on your faces when you unite with your families is what motivates us to work hard everyday. We are not stopping now…our goal is clear. Now that we are on 75, the century isn’t far! With your support we will keep rising and flying with you, and well…century isn’t so far!

Brisbane Welcomes International Travellers through Sydney

If you find yourself stranded in India, unable to make your way back home to Queensland, then the information provided below is invaluable.

Read it carefully and reach out directly to us with any questions you have.

Are you hoping to find a way back home from India (anywhere in the country) to Queensland in the month of August? Or know someone who finds themselves in this situation?

It is critical to look at the various options out there – hint: there are two options of which only one option is viable for the month of August.

Flight Options in August

Option 1: You can try and book through the Australian Government’s initiative through Qantas, but they are fully sold out for the month.

Option 2: The only viable option is to book through Gaura Travel’s flights in August (full dates provided below). We still have seats available, but you need to book them as soon as possible.

The Rules – International Transit through Sydney to Victoria

The Government has provided clear instructions on how passengers will be safely allowed to transit through Sydney on to Queensland.

International travellers from India are required to undergo mandatory quarantine in Sydney, following which, they are required to immediately   travel by car (or a cab) to the airport and take a flight to Brisbane.

They are not allowed a detour or a stopover anywhere in Sydney.

The key difference to note here is that ‘Hotel Quarantine in Sydney’ is considered a GREEN ZONE, as opposed to anywhere else in Sydney which continues to be a red zone.

We can also confirm from passenger reports,  that the quarantine experience is the same in Sydney as you would expect in Brisbane.

Passengers will enter and exit GREEN ZONES as designated by the government without having to access any RED ZONE areas. Which means, travellers do not have to contend with the current situation in Sydney, if Brisbane is their final destination.

No Extra Cost to Travellers

As a show of our undying commitment to the community and our ambition to keep families together during these times, we will cover your costs to travel from Sydney to Brisbane. At this stage, we can confirm this initiative for the month of August, so please avail this while you can.

Direct Flights Options to Melbourne are Sold Out

After having spent months, and many over a year, stranded in India, we encourage travellers to think outside the box and avail solutions that are perfectly within the rules.

For the month of August, all flights directly to Brisbane are fully sold out. So please book your flights to Sydney and make your way to Brisbane, as explained above.

Gaura Travel Flights Scheduled in August

These flights depart from Chennai and arrive in Sydney the very next day:

  • August 2 nd    (Sold Out)
  • August 9 th
  • August 16 th
  • August 23 rd
  • August 30 th

India gained freedom in the month of August – would it be nice for you to unite with your families once again and experience that newfound sense of ‘freedom’ too?

Don’t wait. Book now: India to Australia Flights

India ready to bounce back | Drastic decline in COVID-19 Cases

The world has seen unprecedented changes due to Covid -19. When India, the second most populous country in the world was hit by a devastating second wave of COVID-19, it was hard to imagine how the nation would combat it. But how can we forget that India is no ordinary country? Over its rich history, it has showed countless examples of its unparalleled ability to pick itself up and fight back.

A nation of 1.3 billion people battened down their hatches and came together to show enduring resilience in the fight against the pandemic. With the endless efforts of the frontline workers, government, and the courageous citizens of the country, India prepares itself to bounce back!

The covid cases across the country have witnessed a drop in daily caseload count and several Indian states have started to relax lockdown curbs as coronavirus infections subside.

Initially, the second wave saw India’s daily reported cases spike to more than 300,000 infections daily. However now, with a little over 100,000 new infections across India, daily cases in the country dropped to the lowest level seen in over two months.  The seven-day average of new infections in the country has dropped by over 68% from the peak.

The country has so far administered 20,57,20,660 anti-Covid jabs and the recovery rate of patients has increased to 90.34%.

These numbers provide a great deal of relief and hope.

India Unites as One

In the midst of a brutal second wave and a shortage of crucial life saving supplies, India’s COVID-19 patients, and their families turned to social media to save lives. Thousands of people and volunteers amplified the requests of people searching for hospital beds, ventilators and oxygen cylinders on social platforms. Twitter hashtags like #CovidSOS and #CovidEmergency became popular among users. Volunteers set up websites and apps to  track vaccine availability . Many people also volunteered to make home-cooked meals for patients quarantining at home while others offered assistance with tasks like grocery shopping. It is amazing to see how the country came together to help one another weather the unprecedented crisis.

Gaura Travel reuniting 10,000 families during COVID-19

The start of the journey….

Gaura Travel a Melbourne-based travel company founded 14 years ago, decided in June last year to face the challenges that COVID -19 brought during 2020. When no commercial flights were operating to India and the whole world was in lockdown, Abhishek and Ashwini Sonthalia (CEOs & founders of Gaura Travel) repatriated Indian citizens from Australia with the help of their team. Since then, the agency has operated more than 40 charter flights reuniting 10,000 families.

Like any other travel company in Australia, Gaura Travel had to close its offices during the first lockdown at the end of march in 2020, however the contact center continued operating 24/7 to solve the doubts of the customers when the confinements started. The future looked tough; the sales decreased to zero and many refunds had been issued due to the unfeasibility of running flights. The uncertainty of this moment in time made the owners and their employees’ resilience more prominent than ever. They had to find new alternatives to keep the travel agency running. Ashwini and Abhishek started to knock on the doors of airlines and government institutions (in Australia and India) seeking for a way to help those in need of travel. After a couple of months, they got support from the Indian Consulate in Melbourne, Singapore Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Malindo Air to operate the firsts repatriation charter flights to India.

The idea was to create a couple of flights to find the best way home for Indians who wanted to return to their country. It was a big surprise for the company when those first two flights got booked out immediately. That was the moment when Gaura Travel opened more monthly flights from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide to the main cities in India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and many more without knowing how long it would be possible to keep doing it for.

A milestone for Gaura Travel

Last Friday, February 5th 2021, Akash Rajput an International Student of Deakin University became the 10,000th passenger of the repatriation charter flights to India from Australia organized by Gaura Travel. This accomplishment made the agency the largest operator of this new charter flight industry. “We didn’t know when we started everything that it would get this far, so it’s all thanks to the support of our customers and our team… we are going to continue on this mission of reuniting as many families as we can…” said Ashwini at Melbourne Airport when he congratulated Akash for being the passenger 10,000 who also got an upgrade of his ticket to Business Class.

“Mr. Raj Kumar, the Consul General of India in Melbourne one day told me, you will get plenty of opportunities in your life to make money but take this as an opportunity to make blessings” expressed Abhishek later the same day during the celebration event of “Reuniting 10,000 families”. The event was organized by the agency which included the attendance of people from the Indian community, the travel industry, the presence of Raj Kumar (Consul General of India in Victoria) and the Gaura Travel team members.

10,000 families have been reunited in India during the last 7 months thanks to the effort of Gaura Travel and the support of the Indian Consulate in Melbourne, Singapore Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Malindo Air. The travel agency will organize charter flights for at least the next couple of months (February and March), trying to continue reuniting more than 10,000 families in India during the first quarter of 2021.
