Megadeth and Lamb of God announce new Metal Tour of the Year dates for 2022

Trivium and In Flames are set to support on the monstrous 23-date USA run

[L-R] Dave Mustaine, Willie Adler, Matt Heafy and Björn Gelotte

Megadeth and Lamb of God have announced the second leg of their co-headline tour, dubbed Metal Tour of the Year.

Trivium will again support the two metal juggernauts, alongside Swedish metallers In Flames. The latter replace Hatebreed, who appeared on the first leg of the tour in 2021.

The tour's first leg was initially announced in 2020 with In Flames on the bill, though after its postponement due to the pandemic and subsequent rescheduled dates, the Swedish outfit could no longer join owing to travel restrictions in place at the time.

Commencing April 9 at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, the tour's 23-date second leg will make stops in Lafayette, Fort Wayne, Kansas City and Pittsburgh among others, before wrapping up May 15 at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

“The Metal Tour of the Year is exactly what it sounds like – a night of some of the best heavy metal bands in the world – live and loud,” says Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine. “Anyone who came to a show last year knows what I mean, only this one's going to be even better. Do not miss out.”

Adds Trivium frontman Matt Heafy: “The Metal Tour of the Year was one of the strongest, most incredible tours in ages – its namesake is nothing but accurate. How do you follow that up? By doing it again – even bigger, even better, and have it play everywhere it didn't on the first leg. MTOTYII – let's do this.”

The Metal Tour of the Year is part of Live Nation's Live Stubs initiative, which provides digital, collectible ticket stubs in the form of NFTs to ticket holders. These Live Stubs will be automatically included with tickets for select shows, and fans will be able to view, share, gift, trade and resell their stubs on Live Nation.

It was over 30 years ago that Dave Mustaine founded MEGADETH , in the process pioneering the sound that would become known the world over as thrash metal. And from the very beginning, the band proved to be the most lethal and audacious unit on the heavy music scene, pushing thrash to the limits of musical ferocity and instrumental virtuosity on early efforts like their 1985 debut, Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good! and 1986’s seminal Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?. MEGADETH have taken their place as one of metal’s most influential and respected acts—not to mention among its most successful. They have gone on to sell more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including a 2017 GRAMMY Award for “Best Metal Performance” for the title track “Dystopia,” 12 GRAMMY  nominations, and scoring five consecutive platinum albums. With sheer determination and a relentless recording and touring schedule, MEGADETH worked their way up from headlining clubs to headlining arenas, festival and stadiums, cementing a legacy that continues to grow and spread throughout the world. MEGADETH are slated to release their 16th studio album, “The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead” this spring.

LAMB OF GOD propelled heavy metal into the new millennium two decades ago with the prophetically titled New American Gospel. They followed with 2003’s As the Palaces Burn, which made the Rolling Stone list of the Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Ashes of the Wake, released in 2004, was the first LAMB OF GOD album to be certified gold by the RIAA, as was 2006’s Sacrament, which also made a Top 10 Billboard 200 chart debut. In 2009, LAMB OF GOD released Wrath, their first with Josh Wilbur as producer, and earned the number one album spot on Billboard’s Hard Rock, Rock, and Tastemaker charts, with a number two position on the Billboard 200. Those number one positions were repeated with 2012’s Resolution, which swung effortlessly between thrash, traditional metal, sludgy doom, with flashes of crust punk swagger and bravado. LAMB OF GOD’s last album, VII: Sturm und Drang (2015) made its debut on the Billboard 200 at number three and finished number 2 in the world charts, reaching Top 5 in five countries and six additional Top 15 positions. The single “512” was nominated for a GRAMMY  Award for “Best Metal Performance”, the band’s fifth nomination. In 2020 LAMB OF GOD released their critically acclaimed self-titled opus, the band’s best work to date, featuring new drummer Art Cruz, LAMB OF GOD is re-energized and unrelenting, ready to lay claim to the metal throne.

TRIVIUM’s tenth album In The Court Of The Dragon arrived in 2021. The band and album have been praised by and featured in mainstream outlets like The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Billboard, TechCrunch, and Kotaku, as well as Guitar World, Revolver, Alternative Press, and more. They released the now-canonical album Ascendancy in 2005. It was recognized as KERRANG!’s “Album of the Year,” achieved a gold certification in the UK, and eclipsed sales of 500,000 worldwide. Metal Hammer placed it in the Top 15 of “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the 21st Century.” It ignited a string of six consecutive Top 25 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 and five straight Top 3 debuts on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, culminating on 2017’s benchmark “The Sin And The Sentence.” That album elevated the group’s total stream tally past a quarter-of-a-billion. Additionally, “Betrayer” received a GRAMMY  Award nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance.” Unanimous acclaim followed from Decibel, Loudwire, Ultimate Guitar, MetalSucks, and Metal Hammer, who dubbed them, “quite simply one of the best bands in modern metal.” 2020 brought What The Dead Men Say. The album was produced by Trivium and Josh Wilbur and debuted at #35 on the Billboard Top 200; at #2 on the Top Current Albums Chart, and at #3 on both the Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top Rock Albums Chart. They have performed alongside Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and many others and graced the main stages of Download, Bloodstock, KNOTFEST, and beyond.

IN FLAMES are less of a band than they are a musical institution in the heavy music world. Since helping create Sweden’s legendary “Gothenburg Sound” three decades ago to their current status as melodic metal monoliths, the act have constantly eschewed trends in order to forge their own musical path having been prevented from joining the initial leg of the METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR due to travel restrictions, they are primed and ready to bring their inimitable brand of metal to the stage on this upcoming run in support of the 20th Anniversary re-release of their landmark album ‘Clayman’ and 2019 album ‘I, The Mask’.

Following the success of their 2021 co-headline U.S. tour, Megadeth and Lamb of God have announced the 2022 run of the “Metal Tour of the Year,” with special guests Trivium and In Flames. Tickets for the tour, produced by Live Nation, will go on general sale at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, Jan. 14, at MetalTourOfTheYear.com .

The tour originally was planned for 2020 but was halted by the pandemic. The “Metal Tour of the Year” was one of the first national amphitheater tours to hit the road in 2021 and saw co-headliners Megadeth and Lamb of God hit 29 cities across North America with special guests Trivium and Hatebreed, which stepped in when In Flames couldn’t join the tour due to travel restrictions. The tour was met with enormous acclaim and played to 172,000 metal fans.

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine said: “The ‘Metal Tour of The Year’ is exactly what it sounds like–a night of some of the best heavy metal bands in the world–live and loud. Anyone who came to a show last year knows what I mean, only this one’s going be even better. Do not miss out.”

“It was great to get out on the road for an incredible tour last summer with Megadeth, Trivium and Hatebreed, so we figured we’d do it again!” Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe said. “We look forward to hitting new cities with Megadeth, Trivium and In Flames, who we’re happy to have over for leg 2!”

Trivium’s Matt Heafy said: “The ‘Metal Tour of the Year’ was one of the strongest, most incredible metal tours in ages–it’s namesake nothing but accurate. How do you follow that up? By doing it again–even bigger, even better, and have it play everywhere it didn’t on the first leg. MTOTYII–let’s do this.”

”We are excited to finally be able to join our dear friends in Megadeth, Lamb of God and Trivium on this year’s ‘Metal Tour of the Year!'” In Flames vocalist Anders Friden said. “We can’t wait to be back on the road in America and to reunite with you all. Don’t miss this tour, it’s a juggernaut.”

The tour will be part of Live Nation’s Live Stubs initiative which provides digital, collectible NFT ticket stubs to ticket holders. Reimagining ticket stubs as digital collectible NFTs, Live Nation’s Live Stubs will mirror the unique section, row and seat of each ticket purchased, allowing fans to collect ticket stubs once again, this time with more capabilities. Live Stubs will automatically be included with tickets on select Live Nation shows in North America. Fans will be able to view, share, gift, trade and resell their live stubs on Livenation.com . These are collector items and will not replace the digital tickets needed to physically enter the show.

The Metal Tour of The Year 2022

BY BRANDON SCHULZ

This year has been such a promising one when it comes to live music events. All our favorite bands are awakening from their covid induced slumbers and hitting the road to wreak havoc upon the masses. There have been record breaking shows, massive turnouts, and wave after wave of tour and festival announcements that have had a lot of us on the edge of our seats wondering how it could possibly get any better than this. Some of the largest names in music history have been making appearances all over the globe, and the metal scene is no exception. Due to the success of their 2021 co-headlined tour, metal-titans Megadeth and Lamb of God have decided to give the people what they want and team up once again to bring us the Metal Tour of The Year which boasted a phenomenal lineup including supporting acts from In Flames and Trivium .

The Metal Tour of The Year kicked off on April 9 th , 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I was lucky enough to have been there to photograph the event. The concert was being held at the Michelob Ultra arena in the Mandalay Bay resort. There was a merch table set up outside the venue which had a line of at least 200 people, and it was still at least 2 hours till showtime. I waited through the line which went surprisingly quick, bought my tour shirt, and went on the hunt for the rep that I was supposed to be meeting with to pick up my ticket and credentials. I hadn’t attended an event this size for years, so I was excited to say the least. This was a true collection of metalheads. There was studded leather, battle jackets plastered with patches, bondage belts, doc martins, black lipstick, long hair, and lots of tattoos. What else would you expect from the fans of some of the biggest and most widely known and respected metal bands on the planet? The energy was palpable. The anticipation tangible. You could sense the buzz of excitement in the air from the opening of the front gate all the way to the final cymbal hit of the encore. That’s enough teasing though, lets get on with the show!

The venue itself holds 15,000 people and it was well on its way to being filled when In Flames took the stage. They kicked off the night with the song “Cloud Connected” off their 2002 album Reroute to Remain. This was a great choice to get the crowds blood pumping and ready for the intense ride of a show that would follow. In Flames has been in this game for quite a while, it is always a little bit of a shock to realize just how long they have been players in the metal game. Starting in 1990 in Gothenburg, Sweden, this heavy metal band has had an upward trajectory ever since. Their first LP, titled Lunar Strain , was released in 1994 and that is exactly where they took us next with the brutal yet melodic track “Beyond Space”.  After reminding the crowd where this band had come from, they spent the rest of their set absolutely shredding faces with hits from their 5 post 2011 albums. They played thrash songs, they played melodic metal ballads, they played downright dirty guitar riffs and sent it home with the unbelievable drum stylings Andrew Wayne, who has previously played bands for bands like Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Underoath, and Chiodos. The energy this band exuded was so perfect for the opener. In Flames is heavy but have always had some slower songs that edge on hard rock. With a metal show like this you really need to pace yourself or you’ll end up burning out far too quickly and you won’t have nearly enough energy to carry you thorough to the end. They closed out their set with one of the heaviest bangers in their repertoire…the 2006 hit song “Take This Life” off the album Come Clarity .

tour of the year 2022

We went into intermission and the crowd dispersed to recoup, smoke, grab another beer, and do what they needed to prepare themselves for the Orlando Based veterans of prog metal, Trivium . These guys really knew how to get everyone up and on their feet. Even though vocalist Matt Heafy also plays the guitar he was somehow all over that stage. The entire band swapped mic stands numerous times throughout their set which I found refreshing considering most bands take their positions on stage and then hold that position throughout the entire set. They opened with two songs, “In The Court of The Dragon” and “Like a Sword Over Damocles”, off their 2021 album In The Court of The Dragon . Trivium was engaged with the crowd and egged them on from beginning to end. They stuck to mostly newer tracks and played only 7 songs, but if you know this band then you know that their songs are usually between 3 and 6 minutes long, which means you still get a damn good piece of Trivium to store in the memory banks. They closed out with the 2006 djent-fest, “In Waves”, off their album bearing the same name. As they thanked the crowd, I couldn’t help but marvel at how flawless these bands had been so far, the last time I had seen either of them had been almost 20 years ago and they still packed the same amount of energy and ferocity into their set as they did back then.

tour of the year 2022

At this point I really assumed that I knew what I was in for. I expected more of the same face melting guitar riffs, power poses, and just overall more metal greatness. I was so wrong…I was far from prepared for the whirling torrent of dreadlocked energy that was about to take the stage. During the intermission they had raised a massive black curtain in front of the stage and used a projector to cast the “ Lamb of God ’ logo onto it. As the lights went dark a slow melody played accompanied by deep, slow, vocals. Then a large BANG rang out as the intro ended, the curtain was released, and the song “Momento Mori” kicked into overdrive. This set was un-fucking-believable. Every member was not only on point but all over the place. The energy that these guys had, especially vocalist Randy Blythe, was off the charts. Randy was running back and forth, jumping off the drum platform, standing on the speakers in front of the stage, he was an absolute livewire! During their 3 rd song, “Walk with Me in Hell” off their 2006 album Sacrament , things really got intense with some awesome pyrotechnics. After slaying the crowd with 9 phenomenal songs, they came back out for a 3-song encore that included the songs “Vigil” off As the Palaces Burn , “Laid to Rest” from Ashes of the Wake , and finally closed with their most popular song “Redneck” off if the 2006 album Sacrament . I was completely blown away by their performance and still get chills when I think about that opening scene. Before I knew it, they had left the stage and we were at intermission yet again.

tour of the year 2022

Our next performance both needs no introduction and deserves a proper introduction all at once. Megadeth was formed in Los Angeles in 1983 after vocalist and lead guitarist, Dave Mustaine, was kicked out of Metallica over allegations of alcoholism, drug abuse, and aggressive behavior. Mustaine went on to form Megadeth and ended up creating a heavy metal band that would go on to rival his former band in both size and influence within the metal world. Megadeth has become an absolute titan over the last 4 decades. They have sold over 50 million records worldwide, earned themselves 6 platinum records, 12 Grammy nominations (winning one for Best Metal Performance of the Year for the song “Dystopia” in 2017), and have been dubbed one of the most successful American heavy metal bands of all time. Now, back to our scheduled programming…

While we were having a nice little break, they had set up another curtain and completely changed the stage set up. The curtain was dropped before the band made their way onto the stage. There was a wall of mock Marshall cabinets stacked 4 high which was dropped to 2 in the center to accommodate the drum platform. In between each column of Marshall cabs there was an LED screen, 4 in total, that played computer animated graphics depicting scenes of fire and destruction along with Vic Rattlehead, Megadeth’s undead mascot. With a flash of light, the band made their way on stage while playing the intro to “Hangar 18” off their 1990 album Rust in Peace . Watching Dave Mustaine and Kiko Louriero shred only a couple feet away from me was one of the coolest fucking moments of my life. I couldn’t help but pause and stare in amazement as these legends performed with face melting perfection, I almost forgot why I was there in the first place. After Hangar, they dove right into another brain rattler by the name of “Dread and the Fugitive State of Mind” from 2001’s The World Needs a Hero . I personally think it is fair to say that this song, like many other Megadeth songs really popularized the chugging, djenting, guitar riffs that we have all come to love in today’s metal. Megadeth plowed on with one of my personal favorites “Sweating Bullets”, a song about the dark alter ego that lives within us all. Followed by “She-Wolf” and “Trust” off the 1997 banger of an album Cryptic Writings .

The best part of the set for me was during the song “Conquer or Die” from 2016’s Dystopia . This song, as you may or may not know, is an instrumental for the most part that begins with a lilting Spanish sounding classical guitar. Kiko was on stage with a stool and his acoustic as a futuristic peace officer began to walk the dark stage with a flashlight behind him. Occasionally the officer would shine his flashlight into the crowd almost as if he was searching the masses for dissidents to apprehend. Out of nowhere appears the Dystopia album version of Vic Rattlehead. Vic is portrayed in this version as a hulking juggernaut of about 7-feet clad in body armor, part undead human, part cyborg. Vic wonders the stage before confronting the peace officer, here they meet center stage with Louriero as he wails out a defiant and epic guitar solo. After the song Vic and his counterpart exit the stage and the rest of the band rejoins Kiko for the rest of the set. I think showmanship is something that has been greatly lacking in today’s music performances. Most bands these days come out and perform their songs and leave. There is no story line, no special effects, nothing.

Megadeth finished off their set with three of their most well-known songs, “Symphony of Dstruction”, “Peace Sells…But Whos Buying?”, and their encore, “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due”. The band bid the crowd farewell and the lights came on. I sat there for a few moments contemplating all that I had witnessed that evening. It seemed like such a journey. I was transported through time and space on the back of a fire breathing dragon. We experienced so much together. After a show like this you almost feel like those sitting or standing near you have become some odd little family. it never ceases to amaze me what the power of live-music is capable of. For a few hours all different walks of life came together; republican and democrat, Christian and satanist, grunge and clean-cut, rich and poor, it didn’t matter. For those few hours we were one. We were one big heavy metal family. we helped those who fell in the pit, we patted each other on the back, we sang arm in arm…its these moments that always have me wishing that it would never end. Why should we return to the hate and division? Why should we go back to being at one another’s throats when we are looking for the same things? These shows aren’t just about the music. They’re about the energy, the camaraderie, the way this music touches us each individually and as a collective, THAT is what it’s about. You can’t get much more immersive and intimate than that. This tour has quite a few more stops across the nation and I highly recommend making the trek to your nearest date and letting go of everything for just a few hours. Let yourself heal. Drown in the melody, lose yourself in the beat, become one with your fellow show goers, remind yourself what it is to be part of something greater than yourself and your superfluous nuances. Most importantly…Rock. The. Fuck. Out.

Travis Barker, Mark Hoppus, and Tom DeLonge of Blink-182

Last week, Billboard revealed its year-end Boxscore charts , ranking the top tours, venues, and promoters of 2023. That coverage included analysis of the new wave of genre diverse artists crashing stadium stages, and in turn, our charts. This week, we are breaking down the year’s biggest tours, genre by genre . Today, we continue with rock.

Rock music has been at the center of the touring industry for decades, with legendary acts like The Rolling Stones , U2 , and the Eagles controlling stadium calendars and delivering record-breaking grosses. That is still the case, as rock is responsible for more entries in the all-genre top 10, 20, 40 and 100 than any other genre.

But at 32.4% of all top 100 tours’ grosses, rock takes a dramatic hit from last year’s 42.5% figure. Combined with pop, the two central genres have lost a third of their total market share since the pandemic, as pockets of Latin and K-pop acts take up prime Boxscore real estate. And as rock accounts for many of the oldest artists in the top 100, with Latin and K-pop bringing up the chart’s youngest names, the future of rock bands as touring titans is blurrier than it was 5-10 years ago.

But with a new round of legacy tours from ‘90s and ‘00s bands, plus steady arena grosses from 21st century acts like Arctic Monkeys, Greta Van Fleet and Imagine Dragons, there is still plenty of juice for the coming years.

Scroll to check out the top 10 highest-grossing tours by rock artists, with such acts qualifying due to recent performance on Billboard ’s Top Rock Albums and/or Hot Rock Songs charts. Rankings are determined according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. All reported shows worldwide between Nov. 1, 2022 – Sept. 30, 2023 are eligible.

Page McConnell, Trey Anastasio, and Jon Fishman of Phish

$76.8M / 597K tickets / 41 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 24

Phish is among the most consistent touring acts, regardless of genre. From its annual destination event in Mexico to its reliable runs of shows at Madison Square Garden, the jam-band legends continue to one-up themselves, after winding up at No. 31 on last year’s all-genre ranking.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Flea and Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers

$77.2M / 657K tickets / 18 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 23

Red Hot Chili Peppers repeat in the year-end rock breakdown with shows in Asia, Europe and North America. Still, the band’s $77.2 million total doesn’t include the $48.2 million from its co-headline shows with Post Malone in Australia.

Matthew Bellamy of Muse

$92.7M / 1M tickets / 45 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 20

Muse makes its first appearance among the year-end top 10 rock tours since 2013, when the glam-rock band earned $43.2 million while on The 2nd Law World Tour. The European leg did the heaviest lifting, with nine of the top 10 grosses of the year.

Mark Hoppus from Blink-182

$95.7M / 692K tickets / 45 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 19

Blink is back with the biggest tour of its career. The original trio of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker reunited for 45 sold-out shows in North America and Europe. Things came to a head with two nights at Los Angeles’ BMO Stadium, where blink-182 grossed $8.8 million and sold 43,600 tickets.

Guns N' Roses

Axl Rose and Slash of Guns N' Roses

$96.2M / 888K tickets / 31 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 18

Guns N’ Roses logs a second year between $90-100 million after being No. 8 on 2022’s genre Boxscore breakout. More shows after the tracking period’s cutoff puts the rock icons on tap for the ’24 ranking with $19.7 million already in the bank.

Dead & Company

Dead and Company

$114.7M / 845K tickets / 28 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 15

Dead & Company played its farewell tour between May 19 and July 16, yielding its first $100 million summer since launching as a touring unit in 2015. The peak was a three-night run at San Francisco’s Oracle Park to end the tour, earning $20.4 million from 118,000 tickets sold.

James Hetfield, Robert Trujillo, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett of Metallica

$125.8M / 1.2M tickets / 19 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: 14

Metallica grossed more than $10 million in seven markets between Europe and North America, doubling up in Montreal, Paris and more. The M72 World Tour continues with scheduled dates through Sept. 29, 2024.

Depeche Mode

Martin Gore and Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode

$175.2M / 1.8M tickets / 47 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: No. 9

The first of three rock acts in the all-genre top 10, Depeche Mode scores the biggest year of its touring career, blowing past 2017’s $123.5 million. Three shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol on Sept. 21, 23 and 25 delivered the band’s biggest gross ever, at $15.4 million from 195,000 tickets sold.

Elton John

$210M / 1.3M tickets / 65 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: No. 7

Elton John notches a fifth year on the year-end Boxscore recap with the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, having topped the abridged 2020 report. After all was said and done, set a new record as the highest-grossing tour in Boxscore history, regardless of genre. Over 329 shows, the trek earned $939.1 million and sold six million tickets.

Jonny Buckland, Chris Martin, Will Champion and Guy Berryman of Coldplay

$342.5M / 3.2M tickets / 55 shows

All-Genre Top 100 Rank: No. 2

Switching places with John from last year, Coldplay takes top honors as the highest-grossing rock act of 2023. The band’s spread covers shows in North and South America, as well as Europe, with dates in Asia and Australia in the 2024 tracking window. After kicking off in 2022, the Music of the Spheres Tour has brought in $664.5 million and sold 6.7 million tickets.

Scottie Scheffler Wins 2022 Masters for First Career Major Championship

Scheffler won his fourth tournament of the year with a dominant performance at augusta national, by max molski • published april 10, 2022 • updated on april 10, 2022 at 11:38 pm.

Scottie Scheffler wins 2022 Masters for first career major originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Scottie Scheffler came into Augusta National owning the No. 1 ranking on the PGA Tour. Now, he also owns a green jacket.

The 25-year-old won the 2022 Masters on Sunday with an overall tournament score of 10-under. The victory gives Scheffler his first major and fourth PGA Tour win. His three prior triumphs have all come since February, as he came out on top at the WM Phoenix Open, Arnold Palmer Invitational and WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

Scheffler entered Sunday with a three-hole lead over Cameron Smith. The two made up the final pair to hit the course in the fourth round, and early on it was shaping up to be a competitive day as Smith closed the lead to one after just two holes.

That was as close as the score would get, though, as Scheffler quickly increased his lead again on the third hole with one of the shots of the tournament:

Scheffler didn’t get his first bogey on Sunday until the back nine. He shot a five on the par-4 10th hole, but he kept his four-hole lead thanks to Smith’s bogey. Smith made up a stroke on the next hole, sinking a rare birdie on 11.

Disaster struck for Smith on the par-3 12th hole. The Australian hit his tee shot into the water, missed the green on his next shot and had to two-putt, giving him a triple-bogey and putting him six strokes behind Scheffler heading into the final six holes. Smith wound up tying Shane Lowry for third place at 5-under.

As Scheffler and Smith were completing the 13th hole, the eventual second-place finisher ended his round with an astonishing shot. Rory McIlroy brought his overall score to 7-under with a chip-in from the right bunker on the 18th hole:

WHAT A FINISH FOR RORY. pic.twitter.com/eJWoa39iik — GOLF on CBS ⛳ (@GOLFonCBS) April 10, 2022

By shooting an 8-under 64 on Sunday, McIlroy matched the lowest final-round score in Masters history.

The pandemonium at the 18th hole continued when Collin Morikawa, the eventual fifth-place finisher, also finished his round with a chip-in from the same bunker:

After Rory's shot, Collin Morikawa had some magic of his own on the 18th. pic.twitter.com/tL10qKfq3c — GOLF on CBS ⛳ (@GOLFonCBS) April 10, 2022

With five holes to play, Scheffler used the rest of his round to remind everyone who the actual winner was going to be.

He birdied the 14th and 15th holes, bringing his score to 12-under for the tournament. He got par on the 16th and 17th holes before cementing his win with a double-bogey on 18:

"Scheffler outshines them all at Augusta!" pic.twitter.com/YdIFNQwl7f — GOLF on CBS ⛳ (@GOLFonCBS) April 10, 2022

Scheffler shot under par in all four rounds at Augusta National. He went 3-under on Thursday, 5-under on Friday, 1-under on Saturday and wrapped the win up with a 1-under on Sunday.

Along with a new jacket, Scheffler also won himself quite the payday this weekend. The winning prize for the 2022 Masters winner is $2.7 million. McIlroy ($1.62 million) will also leave Augusta with a seven-figure prize.

Bad Bunny makes history as first Latino named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year

Puerto Rican trap-reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny is Apple Music’s 2022 Artist of the Year, the first Latin artist to receive the award.

The four-time Latin Grammy and two-time Grammy winner has achieved all-time records in the past year, according to Apple Music. “Released this past May, 'Un Verano Sin Ti,' the artist’s sixth project in four years, is Apple Music’s most streamed album of 2022 and now the biggest Latin album of all time,” the company said in a  news release on Nov. 9.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has accumulated a number of achievements on Apple Music, with his song “Moscow Mule” now holding the record for the most popular Latin song of all time based on first-day streams globally.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Bad Bunny, whose influence on every corner of culture could not be ignored in 2022,” Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats, said in the news release.

“Watching Bad Bunny ascend from an Apple Music Up Next artist in 2018 to our Artist of the Year this year has been nothing short of extraordinary,” Schusser said. “We congratulate him on his record-breaking year and for continuing to bring Latin music to a massive global audience.”

The Latin star has entered 22 songs on the Daily Top 100: Global, setting a new record for the most simultaneous submissions by a single Latin artist, according to Apple Music.

“When I started, I didn’t have a global fan base,” Bad Bunny told Apple Music in an exclusive video. “I’m grateful for everything I’ve accomplished and everything I’ve experienced. The Latin music movement has grown so much.”

Bad Bunny continues to gain attention globally from both Latino and non-Latino fans by using his platform to bring awareness to social issues. He promotes the LGBTQ community and other historically marginalized groups, including women, and brings a feminist point of view to his songs.

In an  interview with GQ  in May, Bad Bunny said: “Latino culture is very machista. ... So that’s why I think everything that I’ve done has been even more shocking.”

Lana Del Rey shuts down rumors of romance with Louisiana Swamp Tour guide

Lana Del Ray coming to the Brandon Amphitheater

(WVUE) - Lana Del Rey has addressed rumors about her alleged relationship with Louisiana swamp tour guide Jeremy Dufrene, directly responding to speculation on social media.

In a comment on an Instagram post by celebrity news account The Just In Life, Del Rey simply said, “No,” refuting claims that Dufrene is her “new man.”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Just N Life (@thejustnlife)

The singer further clarified the situation in a follow-up comment, saying, “Also, that’s not his daughter on Twitter,” dismissing an earlier claim by a user on X (formerly Twitter) who had identified herself as Dufrene’s daughter and commented on the rumored relationship.

Despite the brief nature of Del Rey’s comments, many outlets and fans have taken her responses as a denial of both the relationship and the family connection. The rumors initially surfaced after photos of Del Rey and Dufrene in London spread online.

The pair were seen together before Del Rey’s performance at the Reading & Leeds Festival, and pictures of them posted by Daily Mail, a British tabloid , which fueled the speculation.

Dufrene, a 49-year-old boat captain in Louisiana, previously met Del Rey during a swamp tour in 2019, where the singer posted photos of their time together.

However, Del Rey has now publicly addressed the rumors of a romantic relationship, ending the speculation.

Edo Saiya - Lieder vom Leben Tour 2024

Even before Edo Saiya has taken to the stage for his DAYS AFTER TOUR PT.2, the artist has announced further live shows for 2024 with the Lieder vom Leben Tour. Timo Bethke, Edo Saiya's real name, started his music career in numerous bands before he began trying his hand at battle rap. However, he quickly realized that a message was more important to him than just the rapping itself. Since 2018, he has released 12 albums with influences from US rap, emo post-rock as well as soul and jazz and regularly impresses his listeners with new music. His latest album "Days After" entered the German album charts at no. 2, giving him his fifth top 5 position in a row. All tickets for his PolaR Tour 2022 were gone after 72 hours and PT. 1 of his DAYS AFTER TOUR in March sold out. After 7 days, all tickets for PT.2 of the DAYS AFTER TOUR were also sold out. The rush for his live performances is huge. Edo Saiya has worked his way up to become one of Germany's most successful cloud rappers without a major label. With the Lieder vom Leben Tour 2024, his listeners can experience him live again next year after two tours in 2023.
