Ghost are, regardless of whether you're particularly into corpse painted, Satanic-inspired heavy metal, one band that you should not miss live. Their concerts are not simply events to watch but experiential, jaw-dropping journeys to embark upon, and here's why: The Swedish sextet, clad in black hooded gowns and pointed beard-masks (yes, this is a thing) are led by their singer, known as Papa Emeritus, who dons full skull make-up and the robes and hat of a Roman Catholic pope (aside from the upside-down crosses adorning them). As well as their appearances, the band add to the intoxicating atmosphere of their shows with a backdrop of faux stained glass windows, and burn incense to give the audience the impression of being in a church, about to undergo something more than simply watching a group of men play musical instruments on a stage. They achieve this by including the audience in their twisted act, for example during the song Body and Blood, scantily-clad women appeared at the front of the stage offering the 'Eucharist' of a goblet of blood (aka wine) to the lucky fans in the front row.

I saw Ghost at the Fillmore Silver Spring, shorty after the release of their highly anticipated second album, Infestissumam, and was, frankly, blown away by the quality of their live show. Their appearances and Satan-worshipping act are contrasted by the liveliness of their music, which while categorized as heavy or black metal, is definitely more riff and vocal-driven than most metal, with songs such as the single Monstrance Clock and even an amped-up cover of the Beatles' Here Comes The Sun as part of their catchy, dancable set.

Even if you are the biggest metal-phobe around, you should go see Ghost. If heavy metal is your jam, but you're really not into the whole make-up/ crazy outfit thing, you should go see Ghost. If you're a fan or the music but are undecided on paying for a ticket, you should most definitely go see Ghost. The entire experience is something intoxicatingly unforgettable, and you will not regret it!

The wife and I got into the game a bit late but Ghost is as much a part of our yearly plans as is eating, sleeping, and hydrating. We were fortunate to have caught their last two rituals in Sweden last year and were able to capture video of Papa III being pulled off stage during Monstrance Clock. We were so happy that we made the trip from the states because seeing the end of Papa III in videos is nothing compared to the excitement of seeing it in person, from the barrier, and right up front. This band is very exciting to watch and being able to share the experience with my wife has made our evenings with Ghost that much better. My wife met Papa III last year and we've had the opportunity to meet Cardinal Copia 3 times this year during the meet and greets in New York and Pittsburgh. We're looking forward to meeting him again 4 more times out of the 6 rituals we'll be attending in December. We also already have our tickets and vacation planned for the 2 upcoming rituals taking place in Sweden in February 2019. When they make their way back to the states in 2019, we will begin planning our schedules around their tour dates. Here's a short back story as to why they are so important to me. My wife and I were just a couple of months away from signing the official court documents stating we were divorced. While trying to keep things amicable we would meet to discuss things and we'd often listen to Ghost. By the time they would be coming Philadelphia that year, we would have been attending as two single individuals and no longer married. We'd have fun listening to them and as that common ground grew stronger, so did we and slowly began reconciling. By the time they did come to Philadelphia that year, we attended as a happily married couple and continue to do so today. Getting my wife back, I can honestly say, is all thanks to Ghost and I couldn't be more grateful to them or happier sharing the experience with anyone else except for Kelly.

The concert at Liseberg amusement Park was amazing. They opened doors at 11:00 am and there was already like 30 people waiting for the concert impatiently. Security guards and workers of the Amusement Park were very nice and help people when there was an incident outside the park.

The concert started at 8:00 pm without any problem, the crowd went crazy when they went on stage. The setlist was the following:

- Square Hammer

- From the Pinnacle to the Pit

- Elizabeth

- Con clavi con Dio

- Per aspera ad Inferi

- Body and Blood

- Devil Church

- Year Zero

- Spokosonat

- Absolution

- Deus in Absentia

- Monstrance Clock.

At the end of the last show was when 2 bodyguards came on stage and dragged Papa Emeritus III from stage and Papa Emeritus Zero came in, anouncing that the party was over and a new era was about to start.

I only got into Ghost recently and caught their show last night in Toronto.

I decided to get some cheap tickets because I liked the music and thought they'd be fun to see live.

They by far exceeded anything I was expecting. The creepy church vibe, use of incense(which I have never encountered before, very nice touch!), Papa engaging the audience at every opportunity and even took a few minutes just to chit chat and kept us roaring and laughing for more. The use of costumes and masks was amazing.

Being an introvert I don't really go out much, and when I do I just kind of sit there and enjoy the music and the show. This is the first band that's made me get up from my chair and actually get into the show. Next time they come to the area, I'm definitely saving up and treating myself to WAY better seating!

Oh my Ghost, this is the live ritual gig experience your soul is crying out for. Full disclaimer: I love Ghost to bits and have been preaching my dark passion for years. Seeing them live again - this time in a bigger arena off the back of a couple more hit albums - reaffirms the faith.

Go and see Ghost and you will get a diverse setlist drawn from the band's spectacular back catalogue. You will get theatrics and pyrotechnics. You will get both humour and deep emotion, dark anthems and sublime instrumentals and an uplifting sense that you a witnessing something novel and special.

Ghost are - musically, aesthetically, spiritually - something to cherish and the live experience is one that is fun, compelling, cathartic and oh-so-damn-rock-n-roll. Go worship and have the time of your (after)life.

I can see Ghost every night and never get bored. It's not just the band and music, Tobias has created characters, including his own, for this band that are incredibly humble and patient with their fans. While the material can be considered risque, you will see children younger than 10 years old attending that are not only having the time of their lives, but participating in the meet and greets with their parents. Everything about these shows from the music, to the costumes, the characters, and the theatrics is so very much entertaining. We know as fans that there is so much more to look forward to with the future of Ghost and we'll have the opportunity to enjoy them for many more years. It is very exciting when tomorrow becomes today and you're standing in front eagerly awaiting Ashes to start.

If you have Ghost, you have everything.

Theatre; spectacle; a sense of cult worship; dark humour; thick fugs of incense; electric, otherwordly energy; lighting and atmospherics; collective frenzy; and most of all, the sweet music of the night.

Ghost are beautiful for so many reasons. Beneath their sublime subversive style - iconoclastic and gleefully irreverent - is a musical powerhouse making the most compelling and catchy rock in this epoch. The craftsmanship is incredible. The mystique is immense. It's a joy to behold in the flesh (and blood) and if you have the opportunity to absorb the spirit of Ghost in person, surrender to it.

Honestly, Ghost was one of the greatest entertainment experiences I've had. Join them in their ritual and hail your Master...

This was the best show I have ever been to (I have seen a lot too). Ghost put on an electric performance with great theatrics as well as fun conversational bits while the musicians took a couple minutes to get water, wipe the sweat off from under those masks, etc. We were also delighted by the pyrotechnics, fog machines, and surprise mummy dust confetti! Well executed and the band sounded amazing live. I wish I had gotten tickets for the following night too! I will definitely be seeing them when they come back into town. Ghost really knows how to stimulate all their fans' senses. Many thanks to the band for their commitment to their fans and the melodic tunes they share with us. Keep them coming please!!!

The Ghost show was truly amazing. For me, this was mainly due to two things:

1. Each and every member of this band knows his instrument very well, and they play their songs flawlessly and with ease. Leaving them energy to interact with the crowd while still not missing a note/beat.

2. Their concept is so well thought through. From the incense and small unveiling ritual before their set starts to the sisters of sin and perfected visual in set, movements and costumes, everything works brilliantly. And with Papa giving some background info to songs and rituals, you really get the feeling you are part of a well-oiled ritual.

I am very glad I've been to the show, and can't wait to see this band again :)

Awesome band! I had a older friend come with last night to the Stockholm show and even thou she said "It's not exactly my favourite but it was a terrific show, tunes to sing along to and this isn't the last time we do this!" with a huge smile on her face. This was my second Ritual, i love the costume changes, you really feel like your seeing a theatrical show instead of a regular concert, I'm use to sitting up front but this time sat in the balcony to see a spectacular light show and pyrotechnics, we sat in the upper balcony and could feel the heat from the pyro effects.I only wish i could have been yp front closer to Cardinal Copia,to get his blessings. Will not be the last time i go to see Ghost!

Ghost Announces Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023

Citi and Artist Presales Begin Tuesday, February 14 th

Tickets on sale to general public friday, february 17th at 10am local on  ticketmaster.com, for approved artist images and hi-res tour art, please download  here ..

Ghost has revealed details of its upcoming RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. Produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, the 27-date tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 2nd in Concord, CA at Concord Pavilion, with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Cincinnati, Austin and more before wrapping up with the band’s Monday, September 11th return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Ghost continues to elevate and reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most esteemed and celebrated creative forces. Accumulating well over a billion streams, the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band continues to bring the  “euphoric spectacle”  (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing and increasingly impassioned crowds, headlining arena tours including sold out shows from The Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York to London’s O2 Arena and Stockholm’s Avicii Arena. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that Ghost had  “conquered metal and the charts”  when its fifth album  IMPERA  debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more. Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a  “sweetly constructed rock tune”  by THE NEW YORK TIMES, the GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” —  IMPERA  finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee  Prequelle —or as ROLLING STONE put it,  “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.” The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of  IMPERA’ s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making  IMPERA  a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost.

TICKETS:  Tickets will be available starting with a Citi cardmember presale (details below) and Artist presale on Tuesday, February 14th. Additional presales will be available throughout the week before the general on sale starting Friday, February 17th at 10am local time on  Ticketmaster.com .

Ghost has announced details of its summer 2023 American tour, dubbed “Re-Imperatour USA.”

The band is set to kick off the new run of dates in Concord, CA, on August 2, touring across the country until September 11, when it will wrap things up with a huge show at LA’s Kia Forum. It will be joined on the dates by special guest Amon Amarth.

Tickets for the 27-date tour will be available through Citi cardmembers’ and artists’ pre-sales from tomorrow (February 14). Following that, tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday (17) at 10am local time. For more details and to purchase, visit Ticketmaster .

The “Re-Imperatour USA” tour news follows Ghost holding its first-ever pop-up event at LA’s Whisky A Go Go venue earlier this month. “Metal Myths Presents: Ghost – Reverence & Resurrection” paid tribute to the classic 1969 era of Ghost, a band that didn’t actually form until almost four decades later.

The exhibit featured artifacts that had never been publicly displayed before, including the band’s 1960 costumes and ghoul masks, rare magazine covers, and more from a treasure trove of ephemera.

Meanwhile, Ghost also recently shared a new version of its track “Spillways,” featuring guest vocals from Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott. The new take on the song featured in Chapter 15 of Ghost’s long-running series of webisodes, with the installment in question documenting a karaoke session that goes awry in a spectacular and supernatural fashion.

GHOST is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "Impera" , which sold 70,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It marked the third top 10 album — and fifth top 40-charting set — for the Swedish act. The 12-song effort was produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace .

"Impera" landed at position No. 1 in Germany and Sweden, No. 2 in the U.K., Netherlands, Belgium and Norway, No. 3 in Australia, No. 5 in France and Ireland, and No. 20 in Italy.

GHOST leader Tobias Forge worked on the follow-up to 2018's "Prequelle" with Åhlund and Swedish co-writers Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare , whose credits include Madonna and Lady Gaga .

Last month GHOST released a new version of its song "Spillways" featuring a guest appearance by DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott .

"Spillways" is taken from "Impera" , which was released in March 2022.

Ghost Announce 2023 ‘Re-Imperatour’ U.S. Tour Dates With Amon Amarth

Ghost have announced their first set of U.S. tour dates for 2023. Dubbed the  Re-Imperatour,  the 27-date tour will feature Amon Amarth as the opener.

The run will kick off Aug. 2 in Concord, Calif. and wrap up Sept. 11 in Los Angeles at the renowned Kia Forum. Amon Amarth will join Ghost throughout the entirety of the tour, except for the Los Angeles show. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 17 at 10AM local time.

Earlier this year, Ghost leader Tobias Forge teased that "good change" would be coming to the band prior to embarking on any of their 2023 tours.

“We’re going to come out with a little bit of change before that – good change," the vocalist told Metal Hammer . "We’re not going to go silent. Some things are public, other things not in public view, but there are a lot of things brewing.”

While it's unclear what Forge was alluding to, Ghost have undergone quite a bit of change as it is over the last several months, especially when their 2019 song "Mary on a Cross" went viral on TikTok , which exposed the band to a whole new fanbase.

As per Setlist.fm , Ghost's most recent concert took place in September. They have a European tour scheduled throughout May and June before returning to the U.S. in August. Check out tickets for the European shows here .

Inside Ghost's first US show of 2022: new songs, new look, new era

Papa Emeritus IV makes his official live debut on Ghost's US tour with Volbeat and we got a good look at the next stage of their evolution - including new-look Nameless Ghouls

Ghost Nameless Ghouls 2022

Sweden's satanic majesties Ghost have unveiled a whole new stage show and aesthetic for the start of their US tour with Danish rockers Volbeat . On January 25th the band played their first full show in almost two years when they kicked off their tour at Reno Event Centre, marking also the first full performance from Papa Emeritus IV since the former Cardinal Copia was annointed in Mexico City on March 3rd 2020 after the on-stage 'death' of Papa Nihil (video below).

So what has Papa been up to in the 693 days since we last saw him? Well, a whole lot of overhauling, it seems. With this show giving us our first proper look at the new era of Ghost, we thought it high time to look at what we know about Impera so far...

Metal Hammer line break

The new song 'Kaisarion' is EPIC

Ghost kicked off the new era with a completely new song from their upcoming album Impera . Titled Kaisarion , the song is exactly the kind of ludicrous, over-the-top genius we desperately needed from Ghost after the past couple of years, complete with a Halford-worthy scream that has us thrusting our fists at the sky just thinking about it.

Sure, Prequelle had us grinning ear-to-ear at times (goddamn, we're going to miss the sax solo of Miasma ) but the album's plague themes hit just a little too close to home these days, so having something utterly joyous to kick off the show feels like exactly the right kind of move. Plus, it feels like Ghost's brand of anthemic arena metal is now drawing from the likes of Boston , Journey and Bon Jovi , which might piss off the purists who wish the band sounded more like Entombed but is absolutely perfect for those of us who are out to have a great time with riffs, sing-alongs and Satan.

Things got a little Spinal Tap

As the saying goes, "twice the pride double the fall". Ghost have been playing to massive crowds for a good while now, but that doesn't mean there aren't teething problems after two years without gigs. The band's epic reveal at the climax of the Kaisarion intro didn't quite go to plan when the curtain covering the stage never shifted (which, unless Ghost are going Gorillaz, seems like a slight problem when you've set up a massive visual extravaganza).

Still, if you can't laugh...

LITERALLY HAD TO COVER MY FACE WITH MY PILLOW TO STOP FROM WAKING MY WHOLE HOUSE UP LAUGHING AT THE CURTAIN GETTING STUCK, GHOST IS BACK BABYYYYY pic.twitter.com/kShttpk2Xw January 26, 2022

But fans were happy to just see the band again

Curtain snafu aside, Ghost marked the epoch of a new era with all the visual flair fans have come to expect. The stage dressing looks largely the same as it did on A Tour Named Death , evoking a massive cathedral (which, considering the band's religious overtones makes perfect sense). That doesn't mean the band didn't have a whole new aesthetic to show off, however.

New album, new look

They might not have ditched the corpsepaint and masks, but there's no denying Ghost are looking decidedly different for this new era. Papa seems to be going through more costume changes than Cher and the new-look Nameless Ghouls are utterly terrifying in their gasmasks and jackboots, looking like villains straight out of GI Joe. We kinda love it, though...

Some internet sleuths already spotted the new-look Nameless Ghouls

As it turns out, we'd already been teased with the new-look Nameless Ghouls when the band put out promo pics for Papa Emeritus IV. While some of us were delighted to see the new and shiny Papa, some clever souls spotted the Nameless Ghouls standing menacingly in the background. Good sleuthing, that.

PLEASE be the new nameless ghoul masks these are terrifying and I am here for it 😍@thebandGHOST pic.twitter.com/0WNvvuRhCV January 22, 2022

People love Papa's new look

Cardinal Copia wasn't exactly a slouch when it came to outfits on the Prequelle run, but coming after the dandy Papa Emeritus III it was hard not to feel like he couldn't quite match his svelte predecessor. It turns out it may just have been a lack of wardrobe access, however as the new-look Papa Emeritus IV is setting a whole new bar for fiendish flair.

But are divided on the new-look Nameless Ghouls

As exciting as it is to have a whole new era of Ghost to dive into, its also inevitable that some fans will pine for the band's classic look. The Nameless Ghouls in particular have split opinion, which isn't entirely surprising considering some fans used to love cosplaying as the vital cogs in Ghost's machine. The unspoken bright-side that everyone seems to miss is that gasmasks are surely the perfect accessory for ensuring no tour dates get pulled due to the pandemic...

I'm semi-ambivalent about the new Nameless Ghoul designs, but overall I like them. The industrial helmets and floofy sleeves fit the new Impera era's theme of rebuilding, and it makes them look scrappier, less refined, more workhorse-y. pic.twitter.com/yVPKLql8we January 26, 2022

Ghost's set is positively rammed with bangers

After kicking things off with a brand new tune, Ghost wasted absolutely no time in getting stuck into the kind of floor-filling, crowd-filling anthems that have made them into a headline sensation. With four albums already out and a fifth on the way (as well as a smattering of EPs and 7" singles) it was inevitable that they would need to tighten the set up some, but by this point they've amassed such an arsenal of arena-worthy songs that it's almost ridiculous. Rats , From The Pinnacle To The Pit, Mary On A Cross, Cirice... All in a row! We're honestly worried for our voices when the band come to the UK, particularly when the likes of Kiss The Go Goat and Square Hammer pop up.

Hunter's Moon is already sounding like a Ghost classic

Though we didn't know it back in September, Hunter's Moon turned out to be the first song from Impera proffered for our listening pleasure. At the time, the song was released as a stand-alone with no album release info offered, tied to the release of last year's horror sequel Halloween Kills . As utterly perfect as it was hearing the song in the cinema playing out over the closing credits (after a healthy dose of splatter, no less), its appearance in the setlist (sandwiched between Cirice and Faith ) cements the fact that Hunter's Moon is a straight-up banger . More of this on the album, please.

No sign of Call Me Little Sunshine, though

It's only been a week since Ghost released Call Me Little Sunshine and announced the release date of their fifth album, but we're already desperate to hear it. If Hunter's Moon is a stylish, deadly floor-filler in the vein of the band's Prequelle material, Call Me Little Sunshine dials the clock back just a little further to percussive riffing of Meliora . Unfortunately the song didn't make an appearance on the first show of the tour, but with plenty more shows to come (and more time to drill the song into our brains) there's still hope we'll get it further down the road.

Ghost can't resist a great cover

Ghost have never been a band afraid to journey through cover country, tackling the likes of Roky Erickson, ABBA and The Beatles over the years. Hell, the first appearance of Papa Emeritus IV after his inauguration was during a televised stream by  fellow Swedish rockers The Hellacopters , where he came out to sing a rendition of the Rolling Stones ' Sympathy For The Devil. The new set featured a cover more directly in metal territory, however - Ghost's own rendition of Enter Sandman , as featured on last year's Metallica Blacklist covers collection . Kicking off their encore it makes sense Ghost would want something massive, and it doesn't come much bigger than Metallica .

Nine is the magic number

While we knew Ghost's congregation seemed to balloon with each new album, we weren't quite prepared for the clergy to fill out too. We counted no less than nine members of the band on-stage when the band took their final bow, meaning Ghost now have (at least) as many members as Slipknot . God forbid the two bands ever tour together; those poor, poor caterers.

When the Imperatour hits Europe, its going to be special

With their US co-headline tour taking them right up to March 3, Ghost will have about a month to recuperate before jumping right back into the fire with a massive European and UK arena tour . By that time, Impera will be on shelves and, if current singles are anything to go by, lodged in brains, promising some utterly mammoth sing-alongs. See you down the front.

Impera is due March 11 via Loma Vista.

Ghost's US tour resumes today (January 27), for the full list of tour dates visit the band's official website , the band's UK tour kicks off April 9 at Manchester's AO Arena

'The vibes around here are through the roof': The Ghost Inside returns to an old haunt

The Ghost Inside is set to perform May 3 at the Palladium in Worcester.

Members of The Ghost Inside may not feel as young as they once were. But, with a brand new album, a brand new tour, including a May 3 return to the Palladium , they’re ready to let that feeling wash away as they usher in the next chapter of their career. And they're as locked in as they’ve ever been.

While their “Wash It Away” tour makes its way coast-to-coast to support their new album, "Searching For Solace," the California-based metal quintet is excited to share new songs with their devoted fanbase.

However, even with the excitement leading up to another cross-country trek with fresh batch of heavy-hitting bangers, the band has had a number of benchmark memories at the Palladium over the years, including the band's emotional post-pandemic return celebration in 2021. Drummer Andrew Tkaczyk and guitarist Jim Riley see the band's return to Worcester as a true highlight along the road map.

'It's exciting to be back'

“It’s exciting to be coming back again, especially where the album will have just come out, and then we play a show where we get to play songs off that record. That’s something we haven’t done in 10 years, which is a crazy thing to think of," Riley said. “The vibes around here are through the roof, because we’re so proud of this record, and we’re just so excited to play some of the songs on this tour.”

The new music has the band in a different headspace altogether, so naturally, the setlist they’ve curated for the 20-city run is largely their most anticipated aspect of the tour as a collective.

With a generous dose of long-standing fan favorites, a number of new tracks, and even a handful of surprising deep cuts, Riley is pumped to unleash a little bit of everything for their audience. The song that lends its name to the name of the tour in “Wash It Away” is on the band’s radar as what they’re looking forward to playing the most. The song shows a palpable creative growth in the band’s approach to songwriting and composition.

“People who have been following the band for a long time know that the band has always been primarily Jonathan screaming, and a bit more basic on the guitar riff side of things, but (“Wash It Away”) is a more technical song across the board,” says Riley.

True to their roots

“Jonathan (Vigil) has been taking tons of time on the side to workshop and get his voice to a place where he’s doing the majority of the singing in the song, and he really sounds great. It’s also a song that really expands what The Ghost Inside is, and what we’re able to do," Riley said.

"We certainly haven’t lost our ‘heavy band’ roots," said Riley, "seeing as two of the songs we put out before the record are two of the heaviest songs we’ve ever played. But ‘Wash It Away’ is just a special one because it is different, it has a different vibe, and there aren’t many TGI songs that you can sing along to like ‘Wash It Away.’”

Sure, that song has them particularly psyched. But, that's not to say they’re not focused on what the rest of the album and the writing process for it represents for them as a unit, including what frontman Jonathan Vigil has done to prepare and expand his vocal range.

“Even before we started writing this record, we all had thoughts about how we were ready to write a record with no limits and just go in without any expectations, and see what comes out naturally. We didn’t want to cater to anyone or anything. We only wanted to write music that we enjoyed writing and playing,” said Riley.

Riley observed, “We had a lot of help doing that with a lot of new people that we co-wrote with, and different producers that brought out some elements in ourselves that we didn’t fully realize we had. It was really interesting to see how the record turned out with all those factors considered, and it’s by far my favorite record we’ve ever done. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted this band to become over the years, and I couldn’t be prouder of it.”

'Young and hungry' openers

Coming along for the full ride are Switzerland’s Paleface, Scottish heavy metal quintet Bleed From Within and Massachusetts’ own Great American Ghost.

Members of the Ghost Inside praise the three bands' musical abilities. They also see a lot of themselves in the drive and determination these bands have displayed over the course of their respective careers. It's similar in many wways to how The Ghost Inside operated earlier in their own career opening for bands such as Parkway Drive and As I Lay Dying.

“We have three young and hungry bands coming out with us, and we remember what it was like being that young and hungry band ourselves, and we remember how much we wanted to go out, do a good job and impress the people you’re out there playing for," said Tkaczyk. "So that sets a high bar for us to have to go out there and close the show."

Tkaczyk said, “Paleface are freaking awesome. Bleed From Within are phenomenal musicians, and Great American Ghost are hungry to get out there on what I think is one of the biggest tours they’ve ever done. I feel like it’s going to be an escalator all night with each band trying to out-do the band before them. And when you’re the last band, you really have to bring it, so it’s refreshing, and things like that keep us young and hungry, as well, trying to keep up with these young bucks.”

'A hot spot for this band'

Tkaczyk is quick to acknowledge just how lucky he and his battle-tested bandmates feel to able to still make music and tour, especially considering all they’ve endured over the course of the last decade.

Addition to that, returning to Worcester to play a stage such as the Palladium more than a few times is beyond anything the band could’ve imagined. As with every other time before, they’re thankful for the opportunity.

“Worcester has always been a hot spot for this band. We have so many friends and a lot of family there, as well, so we always know Worcester is going to be a giant celebration in a way. We love playing that stage,” says Tkaczyk. “We grew up watching the Killswitch (Engage) DVD and the New England Metal and Hardcore Fest shows, and it’s always fun being able to come back to that stage and live out our own little fantasy again. It’s always been a good time playing the Palladium, and this time is no different.”

UNDEROATH "THEY'RE ONLY CHASING SAFETY 20th ANNIVERSARY” TOUR (NIGHT 2)

Revolution hall.

UNDEROATH reinvents the balance between chaos and harmony with each successive release. Their compositions, conjured from creative tension, become iconoclastic anthems. Even when the band almost combusts, the crackling energy coalesces into something deeply resonant for millions. Each time they have a chance to do something safe, Underoath challenges themselves instead, with integrity and attitude. Their pair of gold albums and three Grammy nominations stand in stark defiance of the idea of commercial compromise. The Underoath catalog weaponizes noise, aggression, and ambiance as skillfully as melody. The combination of heaviness and headiness found on Define the Great Line makes it the only record of its kind to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

The passion and power are as undeniable on tours with Alice In Chains or Bring Me The Horizon as they are in the sweatiest of intimate shows or their genre-redefining runs on Vans Warped Tour. Erase Me (2018) reintroduced Underoath to the world with straightforward riffs and melodies. It’s an almost uplifting album, though not devoid of the confessional desperation powering their songs. The band described Voyeurist (2022) as “high-def violence.” Placing it among the Top 25 Albums of 2022, alongside records from Slipknot, Ghost, and Meshuggah, Revolver called it “brilliantly unhinged.”

The heart of their sound, which delivers naked vulnerability with thrilling force and cinematic lushness, can be heard in generations of bands who’ve pursued their trail. But Underoath refuses to sit still. A provocative and inspiring musical missive, “LET GO” ushers in a new era for the band. Walking an artistic tightrope between immersive access and isolationist otherness, Underoath owns the space between huge choruses and forward-thinking heaviness, both on record and onstage.

Christina Hendricks marries new husband with 'gothic' and 'sexy' wedding featuring 'ghost tour' for guests

The mad men alum married george bianchini in los angeles.

Beatriz Colon

Christina Hendricks and her fiancé, now husband, George Bianchini, are officially married!

The Mad Men  actress and George, a camera operator, officially became husband and wife with a three-day wedding weekend in New Orleans, which she described as both "sexy" and "gothic."

Speaking with People about their April 20 nuptials, Christina explained: "New Orleans is a place that I always loved to go before I met George, and a place that he always loved to go before he met me. And then when we first started dating or meeting up, because we lived across the country from one another, it was the place in the middle.

"It just feels like our city together, even though we both loved it individually." The pair met in 2020, and got engaged last year.

They made things official – thanks to their officiant Shirley Manson, lead singer of the rock band Garbage – at the Napoleon House, which was once where former New Orleans mayor Nicholas Girod lived, and during which time he offered refuge to none other than Napoleon Bonaparte during his exile in the early 1800s.

Christina planned the wedding – which was attended by 76 guests, including Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner – while filming Sky TV series Small Town, Big Story in Ireland, and remembered thinking during the tricky process: "At the end of the day, if all of our friends and family together [are] happy and celebrating… If all else fails, I'll order pizza, and we're going to have a great time."

She of course pulled off a perfect New Orleans weekend and wedding, and further detailing what that looked like, including the ghost tour in the French Quarter, she explained she strived for a "gothic, moody and sexy" aesthetic.

Christina was previously married to actor Geoffrey Arend from 2009 to 2019, and opening up about her decision to remarry, and have another wedding, she shared: "We're both romantic, and I think it's easy to say when you've been married before, and it's been so hard and it didn't work, and you feel like, 'Oh my gosh, this is very scary. We don't have to do this. We could just love each other and not do this.'"

"But I think there's something to be said about really making that commitment and saying it out loud with some of your friends and family."

She continued: "There is a romance to it, there's a celebration about it, and there is also just something that makes you feel different. There's something that says, 'You're not going anywhere and I'm not going anywhere.'"

"How many times do you get to bring all your best people together at once? You're going to remember that forever, and I wanted that for us."

Interview: The Ghost Inside Continue to Push Forward – ‘We’ve Always Been an Uplifting + Positive Band’

O n Friday night (April 19) — the same day of the release of their latest album, Searching For Solace — the Ghost Inside’s Jonathan Vigil and Zach Johnson joined Loudwire Nights to discuss how the band’s 2015 tour bus accident continues to shape their perspectives.

“We don’t let it hang over our heads,” Vigil said about the accident, “but it’s something that is a constant reminder — I have a fused ankle and a new ACL. My back’s a mess and Zach’s got his various injuries.”

While he admitted it’s an experience they’ll never get away from, Vigil added, “It gives us a whole new lease on what we’re doing and a whole new lease on life.

“It’s cliche to say, but it’s almost like you don’t know what you have until it’s gone, which is the truth…now we’re coming back into this with just everything we have, because we almost didn’t have it.”

When Chuck asked what keeps them focused on not losing sight of that perspective, Vigil was quick to answer.

“I think a lot of it is the ethos of the band,” he said.

They saw the struggles we had … We had those people there with us through those hard times and now when we have these victories, like being able to put out another record, we feel like we get to share that with them.”

Taylor Swift Fans Think She Will Open Up About Her Controversial Matty Healy Relationship On Her New Album. Here’s Everything There Is To Know.

Here is some required reading ahead of The Tortured Poets Department ’s release on Friday.

Stephanie Soteriou

BuzzFeed Staff

As you are probably aware, we are now less than 24 hours away from the release of Taylor Swift ’s highly anticipated new album, The Tortured Poets Department .

Taylor Swift poses in an elegant strapless dress with layered necklaces

With the star renowned for the autobiographical nature of her music , fans are expecting to gain some insight into what has been going on in Taylor’s life since the release of her last album, Midnights , in October 2022.

This includes the surprise end of her six-year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn , which was announced in April 2023, and her controversial fling with The 1975’s Matty Healy the following month.

And with Joe already dominating headlines in the lead-up to the album’s release, what better time to refresh our memories on Taylor and Matty’s ill-fated romance? Here’s everything there is to know.

Taylor and Matty’s origin can actually be dated back to 10 years ago, with the two first sparking romance rumors after Taylor was spotted at his band's concert in 2014.

Taylor Swift and Matty Healy with British DJ Nick Grimshaw

However, Matty got incredibly defensive when quizzed about these reports in a 2016 interview with Q magazine , where he claimed that it would be “emasculating” to date Taylor.

Matty initially dismissed the star by saying that she “wasn't a big impact on my life," and then ranted: “If I had [properly] gone out with Taylor Swift, the first thing I would’ve [thought was] ‘Fucking hell I am NOT being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.’ You know, FUCK. THAT.”

“That’s also a man thing, a demasculinating, emasculating thing,” he added at the time.

In the years since that interview, Matty has continued to cultivate a seriously divisive public image and has been repeatedly accused of racism, misogyny, antisemitism, and being anti-Muslim.

And he actively leans into this image, even adding a skit to The 1975 ’s recent tour where he acted as though he was going to go on a racist rant before being cut off by his bandmates playing the beginning of the next song.

And Matty’s controversies came to a head at the start of 2023 when he was accused of doing the Nazi salute while marching on stage during one of his shows just days after International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Matty Healy giving two thumbs up on the red carpet

Later in January, Matty posted a screenshot of a “List of Jews” Wikipedia page to his Instagram story, which some deemed to be an unsettling reference to the records of Jewish people that Nazis kept during the Holocaust.

The following month, Matty faced even more backlash during an appearance on The Adam Friedland Show podcast that was deemed so offensive it was eventually removed from Spotify and Apple.

In the episode, Matty laughed hysterically as the host made a series of racist jibes, referring to American rapper Ice Spice as “one of the Inuit Spice Girls ” and a “chubby Chinese lady” before mocking a variety of accents.

Matty told Adam that he’d messaged Ice Spice, and was asked: “So you slide into her DMs and ask ‘What are you? A fucking Eskimo or something?’” The star laughed and replied: “Yeah, that's what I was like, you fucking…” before saying something unintelligible.

Ice Spice in a sheer lace top and long yellow hair posing on the red carpet

Matty then encouraged Adam to do an impression of Japanese people working in concentration camps, and he could be heard laughing uncontrollably at the racist stereotyping as the host mocked the Japanese accent.

In the same podcast, Matty nonchalantly admitted to masturbating to Black women being “brutalized” on an extreme pornography website that is renowned for its controversial videos that have been branded “ abuse porn .”

In April 2023, Matty apologized to Ice Spice for his comments on the podcast, insisting during one of The 1975’s New Zealand shows that his “joking got misconstrued” and that he feels “a bit bad” about potentially offending the young rapper.

Taylor’s rekindled affiliation with Matty was soft-launched in January 2023, when she was still publicly in a relationship with Joe. At the time, Taylor simply gave a surprise performance at The 1975’s London concert, singing her hit “Anti-Hero” and an acoustic cover of the band’s song “The City.”

Taylor Swift in a sparkling jeweled dress and earrings

Then, on May 3, 2023, it was reported that the two were dating, with a source telling the Sun : “She and Matty are madly in love. It’s super-early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost ten years ago, but timings just didn’t work out.”

“They are both massively proud and excited about this relationship and, unlike Taylor’s last one — which was very much kept out of the spotlight, deliberately — she wants to ‘own’ this romance and not hide it away,” they added at the time.

Initially, fans didn’t believe the report — especially as news of Taylor and Joe’s split had broken less than a month earlier on April 8. However, just two days after the news broke, Matty was spotted with Taylor’s friends and family in the VIP tent at her Eras Tour in Nashville.

He ended up attending all three shows that weekend, and even performed with Taylor’s opening act, Phoebe Bridgers.

Things escalated from here, with Taylor and Matty pictured holding hands , spotted kissing , and filmed looking cozy as they left a party together. Matty was also seen entering and leaving Taylor’s New York City home on multiple occasions, as well as joining her at a recording studio.

Taylor Swift in a casual top exits a building with Matty Healy

Perceptive fans then noticed that both stars mouthed the exact same words during their respective shows in an apparent secret declaration of their love.

During Matty’s May 3 concert, he mouthed: “This is about you. You know who you are. I love you,” while on stage. Taylor did the same thing during her May 5 show in Nashville.

Suffice to say, Taylor’s involvement with Matty did not go down well with her fans, who were left disappointed by her decision to associate with him, considering his problematic history. Understandably, Jewish, Black, and Asian Swifties were particularly upset.

But as exposé after exposé on the concerning things that Matty had done started to emerge, Taylor appeared to remain defiant. Although she had previously teased that she sees everything her fans say about her online, she seemingly made a point of ignoring the offense that her new relationship was causing.

In fact, the star was accused of doubling down on her decision to date Matty amid the backlash. Just days after his comments about masturbating to “brutalized” Black women resurfaced, she made the uncharacteristic decision to reference her personal life during her Eras Tour show.

In a pointed statement, Taylor suggested that she was unfazed by the online discourse, telling fans: “I’ve just never been this happy in my life — in all aspects of my life — ever before.”

And while some defended Taylor by saying that she shouldn’t be held accountable for her boyfriend’s actions, others refuted this by pointing out that she was actually being criticized for her own actions — the decision to align herself with someone who had made so many problematic statements, as well as the implication that she was unbothered by the concerning things that he’d said and done.

Taylor ended up being branded “ another complicit white woman ,” and horrified fans even said that they were canceling their preorders for her upcoming album and selling their tickets to her tour.

Matty Healy with a guitar wearing a suit and tie performing on stage

Amid all of this, Matty shot down the public outrage surrounding him as he shared his thoughts on the situation in an interview with the New Yorker .

He claimed: “It doesn’t actually matter. Nobody is sitting there at night slumped at their computer, and their boyfriend comes over and goes, ‘What’s wrong, darling?’ and they go, ‘It’s just this thing with Matty Healy.’ That doesn’t happen.”

“If it does, you’re either deluded or you are, sorry, a liar,” Matty went on. “You’re either lying that you are hurt, or you’re a bit mental for being hurt.”

“It’s just people going, ‘Oh, there’s a bad thing over there, let me get as close to it as possible so you can see how good I am,’” he then insisted. “And I kind of want them to do that because they’re demonstrating something so base level.”

Matty was called out for his reductive remarks on social media at the time, with people accusing him of having a “lack of empathy” and “hiding behind satire/edgy humor.”

As the scrutiny reached fever pitch, Taylor announced that she had collaborated with Ice Spice for a new version of her 2022 song “Karma” — a move that was branded “ insidiously calculated ” as Taylor was accused of using the rapper to distract from the growing backlash surrounding her relationship.

Taylor Swift and Ice Spice performing on stage

It was pointed out that this was the first time that Taylor had ever collaborated with a Black woman in her 17-year career, and the timing was considered to be very “ telling ,” with many theorizing that Ice Spice teaming up with Taylor was supposed to imply that Matty’s past podcast comments were a non-issue.

Things escalated when Adam Friedland, the host of the podcast in question, suggested that Taylor’s collaboration with the rapper was a direct result of Matty’s involvement in the controversial episode. He retweeted an account reporting on the collaboration and simply wrote: “You’re welcome.”

Then, on May 29, photos of Matty wearing merchandise for Red Scare , a cultural commentary podcast hosted by Dasha Nekrasova and Anna Khachiyan, emerged online. Matty is good friends with Dasha, and he has regularly been spotted with her over the years; however, his continued support for her podcast amid his relationship with Taylor raised eyebrows.

This is because Dasha and Anna have been less than complimentary of the US singer in the past, and in their podcast episode “ Make Americana Great Again ,” the two hosts made cruel comments about Taylor’s body, sexual assault case, and even her mom — who they referred to as “Miss Piggy” — in a 30-minute tirade.

Just days later, on June 5, it was reported that Taylor and Matty had broken up. At the time, it was said that they had “decided to just go back to being friends” and that “nothing complicated happened.”

Taylor Swift performer in a tiered dress singing on stage

But fans questioned this narrative when a video of Taylor choking up while performing her heartbreak song “I Don’t Want to Live Forever” emerged online from one of her first shows post-split.

In the clip, Taylor looked emotional, and her voice audibly cracked as she sang the line: “Wondering if I dodged a bullet or just lost the love of my life,” prompting speculation that this is how she felt about Matty.

Around the same time,  TMZ reported that Matty’s various controversies were not a factor in the relationship ending. They stated that Taylor was well aware of Matty’s reputation before they started dating and that she “simply blocked out” the “noise” from her concerned fans.

Taylor started her relationship with NFL tight end Travis Kelce a few weeks after her and Matty’s split, and the two are currently still together and looked seriously loved up during a recent appearance at Coachella .

Taylor has never publicly commented on her romance with Matty, but fans believe he will be referenced to in her upcoming songs, with speculation mounting when the track list was revealed in February.

And with The Tortured Poets Department finally being released on Friday, we thankfully don’t have much longer to wait before finding out.

With the band members' images projected high above the stage, Phish perform at Las Vegas's Sphere Sunday night.

LAS VEGAS — “Step into space, alter my place.” Phish drummer Jon Fishman’s vocal turn in “Taste” encapsulated the Sphere experience for both the band and 18,600 lucky fans at Saturday’s third of four shows at the mammoth multimedia orb that’s become a hot new landmark next to the Vegas strip.

As he sang those words, hieroglyphic panels depicting cover art from old Live Phish CDs circled a 3D lattice crown in counter-rotation, rising several stories to the dome of Sphere’s 160,000-square-foot LED screen. And that was one of the night’s less-abstract visuals, in a space suggesting a skyscraper-size IMAX.

As only the second group to play the $2.3 billion venue, following U2′s 40-date christening, the Vermont-bred jam masters have perfected the conceptual four-night stand, tapping artistic teams that help realize the offbeat ambitions of the band steered by guitarist Trey Anastasio.

The view of Phish's Sunday show from the upper tier of Sphere.

In the past, those hi-jinks peaked in late-night sets at its festivals (August’s Mondegreen in Delaware will be the band’s first since 2015), Halloween runs with full-album costumes from classic covers to the debut of alter-ego Kasvot Vaxt at Vegas’s MGM Grand, and New Year’s Eve punctuations at Madison Square Garden. Puppets and dancers graced a Broadway-styled staging of Anastasio’s college fantasy suite Gamehendge to cap 2023.

But Sphere provided another world. The guitarist spent nearly a year plotting with creative directors Abigail Rosen Holmes (who worked with Roger Waters and Talking Heads) and Jean Baptise Hardoin of Montreal’s Moment Factory. While U2 repeated its songs and imagery, the creative team devised four shows honoring Phish’s routine of playing different sets by doing the same with visuals, even using real-time technology to react to the quartet’s improvisational jaunts.

Sphere presents any band with a new challenge (Dead and Company will be next for dates into this summer), but a payoff of possibilities. Like the bottom of the Grand Canyon or the recent solar eclipse’s path of totality, it’s hard to truly convey Sphere’s scope to someone who hasn’t experienced it live.

It’s largely a matter of scale. After opening Saturday’s show with squiggly lines bending heavenward for “Set Your Soul Free,” Phish took Sphere for a real test drive. Bubbles grew larger as they floated toward the audience packing the venue’s pitched tiers during “Tube,” until the song’s blues-rock coda snapped attention back to the music. The crisp, cyclical ascent of “Taste” also seemed overshadowed by 3D imagery, while “Sigma Oasis” displayed cloud trees like billowing cauliflower while a sea turtle and birds materialized out of the wispy sky. “You’re already there,” Anastasio sang, feeding the sense of imagination.

Phish play the final show of their four nights at Sphere Sunday.

Yet the most mind-blowing package came in the new “Pillow Jets,” with its scrolling landscape of waving sprouts and impressionistic trees. Evoking “Avatar,” neon lights shot up the trunks to explode into feathery fireworks where leaves dissipated into the wind. But the band matched the intensity in an inspired prog-rock jam of heavy drum fills and thick waves of guitar.

But like U2, Phish knew it couldn’t keep a foot to the pedal. “Mountains in the Mist” struck a mood with simple literal imagery of fog-covered hills. Angular spindles seemed low-key in “Stash” but let focus shift to Sphere’s astounding sonic clarity. One could hear Fishman’s every stroke on his hi-hat cymbals or fans’ cued handclaps like it was a smaller room.

Bassist Mike Gordon ’s active, muscular injections fueled “Fuego” with a taut anchor to more meandering stretches. Sphere’s haptic seating let fans feel the bass even though Gordon wasn’t loud in the mix. And the sound literally bounced around the room from keyboardist Page McConnell’s synth patches. Phish relieved tension with crowd participation, as balloon letters drifted Scrabble-style into the prompt “Wooo” during “Twist.”

Phish onstage at Sphere Saturday.

Sunday’s finale proved even stronger, the first set centered by an old-school pairing of “Ghost” (where towering robots with moving arms appeared within the screen for another jaw-dropping visual) and “The Divided Sky.”

Phish locked in for their final Sphere set, Anastasio particularly sharp as he energized the jams in a 35-minute “Down with Disease” and hard-charging “Piper,” while “Beneath a Sea of Stars” lent contemplation as star threads elevated to a black hole. The theme to “2001″ mimicked the band’s lighting pioneer Chris Kuroda’s roving spots but couldn’t match what he does with a larger rig on tour. That’ll be seen when Phish hits Xfinity Center for three July nights, leaving Sphere dreams behind until the probable next time.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
