Beaming in from the 'couv', risian luxury cruiser test drive.

I really want to start a Ferengi captain and punch him up to level 40 in time to get this ship! This ship just screams, “PROFIT”.

It actually is a decent performer. It is heavy on engineering with five consoles dedicated to Mr. Scott’s profession. But this ship features a Lt. Commander at Tactical and that is pretty cool. This ship can load heavy and pack a punch if you want it to.

The special console on this ship has a delayed radiation attack that bypasses shields with 1/2 its damage and offers an escape speed and turn rate boost after leaving its enemies disabled and then slowed if not dead! It also works in conjunction with the “Sub Space Wake Generator” from last year’s Corvette. I reviewed that ship in a post here . The set bonus gives a passive ability “exotic particle generators” that appears to boost exotic damage. The ” Solar Sail Quantum Slipstream works like the slipstream on the Odyssey and doubles the slipstream time as well as providing a slight boost in speed over that standard slipstream.

I am going to try something new. Periodically I will have an in game mission for readers to do. This is not a foundry mission but a live mission on a specific day. The first of these missions is Friday July 4th 2014. At a random time during the day. Your contact, Vice Admiral Rodanna will be on Risa for the “Summer Event” (Instance #2) . She will be wearing a yellow bikini and will be in one of the six lounge chairs at the end of the estuary in front of the dance floor at the main resort.

I don’t hate this ship, but I can’t help but feel a luxury cruise ship shouldn’t be able to compete with a warship in battle. I do understand the rationale behind it — after all, who wants to fly a ship that lags behind everything else available? But for play immersion it is a bit jarring to see a luxury liner (or a speedboat, a la Risian corvette, for that matter, even though I love it myself), IMHO.

On a somewhat related note, I love what they did with the Risa event. Regular Risa is so bland by comparison!

Interestiung note: I tried to use the Jetpack on “regular” Risa and it did not work, but the power surfboard does!

Does it? I will have to try it tonight. The surfboard is way more fun and I would hate not being able to use it after the Risian event.

STAR TREK ONLINE | Risian Luxury Cruiser- something much more Luxury than your Captain’s Yacht…?

Knowing and having seen the Risian Corvette in action in teaming up with one in a unexpected Team Players vs Players, the vessel itself has proving to be a very quick decisive formidable vessel class than the Ferengi Marauder Starship… in its turn rate and speed… also than another variant escort class..  But it’s a ship class in its own right…

During this year’s Summer time event also upcoming, there’s another vessel to have in your shipyard, it’s the Risian Luxury Cruiser, orthough not knowing the scale of size of the ship, seemingly it’s in between the scale of ambassador, Galaxy or a Sovereign class, with that in mind it’s an agile   ship, given its turn rating of ten and inertia of 40, so when it attacks it strikes pretty well given it has a combination of cannons, turrets and arrays weapons load outs given its abilities to Soliton wave in which it generating that Soliton Wave  will pull nearby Starships drawing towards you in then you release that charge to devastating blow to their engines being disable, and relative systems you could apply fire a will, with a full torpedo spread to finish off your nearby opponent ships.

Looking it stats for plus ten engine power, you could layout the abilities for a higher tier warp core that it’s developed from engines  to weapons power,  with this in mind it’ll lower the amount of cool down time for every single time that you use try to use your bridge crew station abilities…  Its console modifications it’s basically geared up to be a in between a Tactical and engineering ship,  much to the likes of the Galaxy, it’s Dreadnought also to the Sovereign…  also it should be interesting what luxury interior this ship has…. Presumably very comfy… With a very comfy chairs.. ?

Game description [ | ]

Risian Corvettes utilize a special type of overdrive circuit in their impulse injection assemblies, allowing for higher sustained sub-warp speeds as well as improved boosts of speed. By feeding a sudden burst of energy into these improved injectors, the ship is capable of distorting local subspace in a manner that results in near-warp speeds for a short period of time. This burst results in a Subspace Wake which can easily be modified to cause detrimental effects on enemies caught behind the ship when activated. The subspace distortions will inhibit speed and turn rate, while simultaneously causing hull distortions that damage the enemy ships' infrastructure.

• The Non-Enhanced version of the console is limited to the Risian ships, while the enhanced version can be equipped on any starship.

Console - Universal - Enhanced Soliton Wave Generator [ | ]

Risian Luxury Cruisers can be equipped with a Soliton Wave Generator. This allows the ship to generate a powerful, but stable, Soliton wave that will draw nearby enemy ships toward the Cruiser and deal minor radiation damage. During this time, the Soliton Wave Generator is building up a powerful charge that is released after a short time. This released Soliton Wave will damage nearby foes and will briefly knock their engines offline.

Console - Universal - Neutronic Eddy Generator [ | ]

When activated, this console creates a number of dangerous eddies, similar to those seen in Neutronic Storms. These eddies will wander nearby space, devastating any enemies unfortunate enough to be in their destructive radius.

Live in Luxury This Summer

Star Trek Online has now started the Risa Summer Event. Summer is rolling back around – at least for Earth standard time at Starfleet Headquarters – and it’s the time of year when the beautiful resort planet Risa offers special hospitality to everyone and unveils its newest luxuries. Last year, visitors were treated to the chance to explore an island resort, both on foot and using relaxing anti-gravity floaters. This year, Risa’s expanded the resort with a new shopping promenade and all-new activities and rewards.

Visitors to Risa have been clamoring for the right kinds of outfits to make a splash, and the tailors of Risa have responded by providing the latest styles in swimwear. In exchange for Lohlunat favors earned from various activities, you can purchase outfit boxes for a wide range of men’s and women’s styles, complete with customizable colors. (Please note that swimwear does not fall under the uniform code for members of the various exploratory and military services, and thus such items are non-regulation for mission duty.)

Of course, you’ll need those swimsuits when you take off on a powerboard – a surfboard with an ion engine attached. As part of the new festivities, Risa’s holiday events coordinators are hosting a powerboard race, where you can line up with other competitors and dash over the water around the island; naturally, you can surf around the waters whenever you like, even when the race isn’t running. Completing the race without going outside of the track will award special tags that you can turn in for new feather monkey pets, a friendly indigenous species that will follow you around as a companion. Plus, you can turn over your feather monkey pets to the local Risian biologists and ecosystem specialists, in exchange for a wide variety of reputation marks.

When you’re not splashing through the powerboard race, participating in the dance party or the horga’hn hunt, you can also take some time for a somewhat more leisurely recreation, building sand castles and sculptures on the beach. Talk to one of the local sand geologists (an arenologist) and you can look for a pail and bucket out on the beach, where you can claim a spot to build your own sculpture. The more sculptures you build, the more practice you’ll get, which lets you make ever-more elaborate designs. Plus, you’ll earn Lohlunat favors for completing sculptures. Once per hour, the arenologist will give bonus awards to anyone who gets out there and builds something.

Just like last year, you can participate in floater challenge courses to earn Risian pearls that you can trade for a Risian corvette, but this year the Risians are offering their luxury cruiser as well. This ship is a space yacht with all the amenities - a floating reminder of your summer vacation that you can take to the stars. Once you’ve earned the corvette or the luxury cruiser, the Risians will give you a significant discount if you want to pick up another one. (Any character on your account will get this discount once you’ve unlocked it.)

To staff your summer starships, you’ll want new crew, and the Risians have offered up some of their own Duty Officers for recruitment. To earn the loyalty of the Risians, you must learn their ways, so you’ll have to complete some of the activities on the island and see some of the sights before you can requisition them, and the best duty officers will require the most commitment. Risian duty officers include Helm Officers, Geologists, and Entertainers with all-new, unique active roster abilities like Risian Drift, Tectonics Expert, and Emergency Power to Party.

The summer event runs on Risa this year from June 5 until July 17. We’ll see you there
