A Year-End Medley

Rumah produksi CJ Entertainment bekerja sama dengan TVING resmi merilis film Korea yang berjudul  A Year-End Medley mulai 29 Desember 2021.

Film ini tayang sebagai bagian dari program perayaan Tahun Baru dan foto resmi dirilis pada awal bulan April 2021. Selain itu, film ini juga dibintangi oleh beberapa aktor dan aktris ternama asal Korea.

Ada Han Ji Min  yang sebelumnya sukses membintangi film berjudul  Josee (2020) dan Kim Young Kwang  yang pernah berperan dalam film berjudul Mission: Possible (2021).

Aktris Go Sung Hee juga tampil dalam film ini setelah sukses berperan di film Trade Your Love (2019). Dia beradu akting dengan aktor Lee Dong Wook yang sebelumnya sukses dengan film  The Beauty Inside (2015).

Selain itu, Won Jin Ah juga tampil dalam film ini bersama dengan Kang Ha Neul. Sebelumnya Won Jin Ah sukses dengan film berjudul  On the Line (2021) dan Kang Ha Neul dengan film yang berjudul  Waiting For Rain (2021).

Pemeran utama lainnya juga diperankan oleh Im Yoon Ah , Jung Jin Young, Seo Kang Joon, dan Lee Kwang Soo. Selain itu, ada juga Lee Jin Wook, Jo Joon Young, dan Won Ji An.

Sebelumnya, Im Yoon Ah sukses dengan film berjudul Miracle: Letters to the President (2021) sementara Jung Jin Young sebelumnya pernah membintangi film yang berjudul  The Gossip (2021).

Seo Kang Joon pernah berperan dalam film berjudul Summer Snow (2015), Lee Kwang Soo pernah tampil di peran dalam  Sinkhole (2021), dan Lee Jin Wook sebelumnya membintangi film berjudul  High Society (2018).

Jo Joon Young dan Won Ji An baru pertama kali beperan dalam sebuah film. Sebelumnya Jo Joon Young pernah tampil di drama berjudul Live On  (2020) sementara Won Ji An pernah tampil di drama berjudul   D.P. (2021).

SINOPSIS A YEAR-END MEDLEY

Drama ini mengisahkan mengenai kehidupan yang ada di sebuah hotel terknal bernama Hotel Emros di salah satu kota di Korea Selatan.

Ada beberapa pegawai hotel mulai dari manajer yang sangat tenang dan profesional yang selalu memastikan keadaan hotelnya menjadi kondusif.

Selain itu, ada juga seorang pria yang menempati posisi CEO dari hotel yang memiliki obsesi yang aneh terhadap angka genap.

Mereka kemudian dihadapkan pada kedatangan beberapa tamu yang bervariasi setiap minggu dengan tujuan yang berbeda satu sama lain.

Ada tamu hotel yang sudah memiliki pekerjaan dan ada pula yang datang untuk berlibur setelah menyelesaikan ujian di sekolah.

Selain itu, ada juga beberapa tamu hotel yang datang dengan tujuan untuk menemukan cinta sejati yang lama ditunggu.

(Movie Review) 'A Year-End Medley': classic love story for Christmas season

SEOUL, Dec. 28 (Yonhap) -- Ranging from the 2001 smash-hit "My Sassy Girl" to "The Classic," director Kwak Jae-yong made a name for himself as a master of romance genre films throughout the 2000s.

He is smart enough to mix the tried and true of easy humor and a touch of emotion.

The upcoming rom-com "A Year-End Medley" is Kwak's new crowd-pleasing and heartwarming work for the Christmas season, when people usually experience emotional confusion before saying good-bye to the familiar and hello to the unfamiliar at the same time.

Covering about a one-week period leading up to the last day of 2021, the film joins together seven stories of first love, unrequited love, senior romance and bromance at Hotel Emross, where many people visit or stay to celebrate the holiday period in their own way.

So-jin (Han Ji-min), a manager of the hotel, is a connecting thread of sorts. She has hesitated to confess her romantic feelings to her friend Seung-hyo (Kim Young-kwang) for about 15 years.

One day, she finally loses her chance as Seung-hyo introduces his girlfriend Young-ju (Ko Sung-hee) and asks So-jin to help him prepare the wedding at the hotel.

At the entrance of the hotel, Catharine (Lee Hye-young) runs into her past lover Sang-kyu (Jung Jin-young), a doorman of the hotel, for the first time in 40 years. She comes back to her motherland from Australia to participate in her daughter's wedding ceremony.

Yong-jin (Lee Dong-wook), CEO of Hotel Emross, falls in love with Yi-young (Won Jin-a), a hotel maid, as he checks into the hotel due to a temporary heating problem at home.

Jae-yong (Kang Ha-neul) is closely watched by hotel employees as he shows some signs he maybe considering ending his life after failing to get jobs for years. Soo-yeon (Lim Yoon-a), working on the customer satisfaction team, comforts Jae-yong through a routine morning call service.

Star singer Yi-kang (Seo Kang-jun) and his manager Sang-hoon (Lee Kwang-soo) recall their past when the duo struggled to survive in show biz but emerged on top as their management contract is set to expire.

Se-jik, So-jin's teenage brother who has supported his sister's 15-year one-sided love, starts his own love with his schoolmate Ah-young (Won Ji-an).

Meanwhile, Jin-ho (Lee Jin-wook) is a good-looking wealthy doctor who visits a luxury restaurant at Hotel Emross for a blind date every weekend. His frequent visits and turndowns by women are a matter of interest among hotel employees, including So-jin.

With all these disparate subplots rolled together and glued with easy witty verve and light-heartedness, "A Year-End Medley" finally snowballs into an avalanche of good feeling and comfort.

Many audiences may not mind accepting the film's conspicuous flaws of weak balance among characters and palpable, cliche love stories. The ensemble of its all-star cast creates a warm glow and offers moments of tenderness with timely humor, leading the narrative to the end of the movie.

In particular, actress Han Ji-min displays her charm and attraction to broaden the film's appeal, while comical performances by Kang Ha-neul and Lee Kwang-soo are indispensable.

"A Year-End Medley" might be the best fit for those who seek comfort and hope after suffering during the pandemic and other financial and social burdens this year.

The movie will be released simultaneously in theaters and via Tving on Wednesday.

Salah satu kisah yang diperankan Han Ji Min sebagai So Jin, ia adalah manager hotel Emros yang memiliki pekerjaan yang bagus. Namun So Jin memiliki ketidak beruntungan dalam hal percintaan. Saat So jin menyukai temannya bernama Seung Ho selama 15 tahun, berakhir dengan sakit hati karena sang teman mengenalkan calon tunanganya kepada So Jin.

Selain cerita Lee Dong Wook mendapatkan cinta pegawai kontrak di hotelnya, cerita lain datang dari perang Kang Ha Neul sebagai Jae Yong. Hidup Jae Yong tidak beruntung gagal menjadi PNS dan ditinggal oleh sang kekasih membuat ia ingin mengakhiri hiduonya di hotel Emross. Namun sebelm itu ia ingin menikmati watu liburannya, hingga suara seseorang di hotel mampu menyemangatinya kembali.

Film ini memang bertabur bintang, ada lagi satu kisah yang diperankan aktor Seo Kang Joon dan Lee Kwang Soo. Mereka berperan sebagai penyanyi dan manajer yang selalu bersama mulai dari awal karirnya. Sampai suatu saat keadaan membuat Seo Kang Joon yang berperan sebagai Lee Kang sang penyanyi ditawari pindah agensi.

Sinopsis A Year-End Medley

A Year-End Medley adalah film yang berlatar belakang kehidupan orang-orang yang datang ke hotel Emrose, tepat di tahun baru. Mereka memiliki cerita hidup yang berbeda dan mulai membangun hubungan baru dengan orang-orang yang mereka temui di Hotel Emerose.

Dimulai dari Han Ji Min, ia memainkan karakter seorang manajer hotel bernama So Jin. Suatu hari, seorang peramal mengungkapkan akan ada Mr. Right yang akan mengakui perasaannya kepada So Jin sebelum tahun berakhir.

Lee Dong Wook berperan sebagai Yong Jin, CEO dari Hotel Emross. Kisahnya dimulai ketika ia menyukai pembantu rumah tangga bernama Lee Young (Won Jin Ah).

Kang Ha Neul memainkan karakter seorang tamu di Hotel Emross yang sangat merepotkan, namanya Jae Yong. Jae Yong secara tak terduga terlibat dengan pengusaha hotel bernama Soo Yeon (YoonA). Saat bertemu dengan Soo Yeon, Perjalanan hidup Jae Yong akan dipenuhi dengan kejadian aneh dan hal seru.

Sementara itu, Lee Hye Young dan Jung Jin Young akan berperan sebagai kekasih masa lalu yang bersatu kembali untuk pertama kalinya dalam 40 tahun.

"A Year-End Medley" Previews Interesting Ties Between The Characters

Upcoming film “A Year-End Medley” has released a relationship chart of the characters!

“A Year-End Medley” centers around the people who come to Hotel Emross, each with stories of their own, and build new relationships. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Han Ji Min , Lee Dong Wook , Kang Ha Neul , Girls’ Generation’s YoonA , Won Jin Ah , Seo Kang Joon , Lee Kwang Soo , Kim Young Kwang ,  Go Sung Hee , Lee Jin Wook , Lee Kyu Hyung , Jo Joon Young , Won Ji An , Lee Hye Young , and Jung Jin Young .

The production team recently released a relationship chart centered around the members of the Hotel Emross team and the guests, as well as their relationships with the radio team and the high school students.

The chart points out the relationship between hotel manager So Jin (Han Ji Min) and her male friend Seung Hyo (Kim Young Kwang), whom she’s had a crush on for 15 years. On the other hand, Seung Hyo is engaged to Young Joo (Go Sung Hee), a pianist. So Jin also gives advice to plastic surgeon Jin Ho (Lee Jin Wook), who comes to Hotel Emross every Saturday to meet with prospective marriage partners.

The chart also raises anticipation for the romance story between the young and capable hotel CEO Yong Jin (Lee Dong Wook) and housekeeper Lee Young (Won Jin Ah), who dreams of being a musical actress. The relationship chart also points out the relationship between overseas businesswoman Catherine (Lee Hye Young), who has returned to Korea for her daughter’s wedding, and Sang Gyu (Jung Jin Young), who is Catherine’s first love and the hotel’s doorman. The romance between problematic hotel guest Jae Yong (Kang Ha Neul) and hotelier Soo Yeon (YoonA) is also highly anticipated.

On the other hand, Sang Hoon (Lee Kwang Soo) is the manager of singer Lee Kang (Seo Kang Joon), an unknown artist who finally hits it big as a singer and popular DJ. Lee Kang is planning to hold a year-end concert at Hotel Emross as the contract with Sang Hoon is about to end.

Catherine is revealed to be Young Joo’s mother, raising questions about how the overall story will turn out within the hotel. Se Jik (Jo Joon Young) is a swimmer at his high school swim team. He is also the younger brother of So Jin. He is secretly in love with Ah Young (Won Ji An), a popular student, who is also a talented figure skater at the same school.

Some people watch the Olympics for the events. Others watch for the hot athletes.

This is nothing new. Going all the way back to the first century, the orator Dio Chrysostom praised the “beauty” of the boxer Melankomas, who competed in the ancient Greek athletic games .

That same feeling resonates in 2024. A number of participants in the Paris Summer Olympics have distinguished themselves for things beyond their athletic talent. In an extreme case, a pole-vaulter gained a great deal of attention — some might say notoriety — for failing in a unique way. Others caught the public’s attention through moments of love or kindness — a different but equally palpable form of beauty.

There are numerous options to choose from, but here are 10 moments of beauty at the games.

Swimmers and Their Abs

After Italy won bronze in the 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay on July 27, the Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon, 23, raised his arms in celebration. In doing so, he unintentionally bared his well-cut abs , which had many thirsting on the internet .

(Ceccon, who won gold in the 100-meter backstroke, was later found sleeping on the ground next to a bench in Olympic Village after he had complained about the conditions at the village.)

Triple Play

For the first time in Olympic gymnastics history, three Black athletes shared a podium, with Rebeca Andrade of Brazil earning gold in the women’s floor exercise final, Simone Biles receiving silver and Jordan Chiles taking bronze. At one point, while they were on the podium, Biles and Chiles, both of the United States, bowed down to Andrade .

Each had their “ face cards ” locked down, with floor routines rife with sexy moments. Chiles had a wink to the camera when she opened her routine , Biles had her hand over her mouth when she closed out hers and Andrade impressed with her confident fluid movements to a soundtrack of Brazilian funk.

Suspended in Midair

The Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina, 30, was the subject of one of the most eye-catching photographs at this Olympics . In it, he defies gravity as he floats in the air and poses with one finger pointed toward the sky, his surfboard parallel to him, seemingly mimicking his stance. Aside from being the subject of a stunning photo, Medina took bronze at the surfing competition, which was held in Tahiti — 9,800 miles from Paris.

A Clutch Comeback

In the men’s basketball gold medal match, Stephen Curry made a series of clutch three-pointers in the draining minutes of the game, each more impressive than the one before, to lead the United States to a 98-87 win over France.

And after each of those artful shots, he flashed his signature “night, night” celebration , pressing his palms together, laying them against the side of his face, and tilting his head — motioning France to go to bed. His teammates joined him, including LeBron James.

Curry scored 24 points as the United States won its fifth straight gold medal in men’s basketball, with plenty of help from fellow N.B.A. stars like James and Kevin Durant. He similarly delivered in the semifinal match against Serbia , scoring 36 points and leading the team to overcome a 17-point deficit.

Rumors of Romance

Devin Booker, an N.B.A. star and a player for the U.S. men’s basketball team, shared a video on Instagram of the footage he captured from the stands at the women’s individual all-around final in gymnastics. He recorded routines on a camcorder like a proud parent, cheering on Sunisa Lee, Biles and Andrade, with his teammates, including Curry, sitting next to him. During Lee’s floor routine, he chanted “Vamos, vamos!”

Then Booker posted a photo on Instagram of himself with Lee, which quickly drew attention. Though it might have just been a sweet pic of two athletes posing together, many were swooning over how good they looked together. Her body is tilted in his direction, and there’s a massive height difference — she’s 5 feet and he’s 6-foot-6.

Love has been in the air at the games, with at least six proposals involving athletes taking place so far.

After breaking the European women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase record, the French athlete Alice Finot celebrated by proposing to her boyfriend, Bruno Martínez Bargiela, in the stands. She proposed with an Olympic pin that reads “Love is in Paris.” .

The French skiff sailing partners Sarah Steyaert and Charline Picon were proposed to by their boyfriends after winning bronze in the women’s skiff 49erFX.

And the Chinese badminton player Liu Yuchen proposed to his teammate Huang Ya Qiong with a bouquet of flowers after she won a gold medal in the badminton mixed doubles final.

Showing Confidence — and Versatility

When Noah Lyles, 27, won gold in the men’s 100-meter , he did so wearing a diamond-covered chain-link necklace, pearls in his hair and nails that featured stars, a cross and a lightning bolt in red, white and blue. After claiming the title of the world’s fastest man by fractions of a second, Lyles, who is known for performing well under pressure, exclaimed to a camera, “I told you America, I got this.” (Later, he inspired some debate by winning bronze in the 200-meter after he had been diagnosed with Covid.)

Two days later, another stylish American runner, Gabby Thomas, 27, won gold in the women’s 200-meter — proving she can do it all. Back home, she graduated from Harvard with a degree in neurobiology and earned a master’s degree from the University of Texas in public health with a concentration on epidemiology. Her day job is volunteering at a health care clinic.

The Sharpshooters

Many people on social media reimagined the pistol shooters at the Olympics as characters from action movies .

There was the Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec, who nonchalantly competed with both eyes open, no special equipment (i.e., ear protector, specialized lens, eye cover) and one hand in his pocket. Dikec, 51, took silver in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event, his country’s first medal in shooting. When he found out about his internet stardom, Dikec told the Turkish media , “I did not need special equipment. I’m a natural, a natural shooter.”

And then there was the Korean shooter Choe Dae-han . In a photo that spread quickly online, Dae-han is seen wearing a cyberpunk leather jacket and shooting with a deep arched back.

The Legend and the Future

After winning his fourth gold medal at his first Olympic Games, the French swimmer Léon Marchand, 22, held up four fingers at the end of the 200-meter individual medley race. When asked how he was feeling after becoming the fourth swimmer to win four golds at the same Olympics, Marchand said, “ I was more relaxed than usual, because I won three gold medals before. ” Light work.

And during Marchand’s moment of triumph, Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all, was in the stands, contorting his face and cheering along as Marchand beat his Olympic record in the 200-meter individual medley. Adding to the spectacle, Phelps had his hair in a tightly packed bun that drew plenty of opinions online.

An Act of Kindness

After a dominant 4-0 win over the U.S. men’s soccer team, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, 25, consoled the American soccer player, Kevin Paredes, 21. Hakimi, a defender for Paris St.-Germain, knelt down to comfort Paredes , who was crying. Hakimi lifted him up, put his arm around his neck and walked down the soccer field with him. Morocco went on to beat Egypt, earning the bronze medal.
