Who Manufactured the "Tour Model III Evolution" Clubs?

For maybe 13 years, I've had a set of irons that are "Tour Model III Evolution". Does anyone have any idea who manufactured them?

Knowing what I know now, I bet they are probably knockoffs of Pings or something like that. They've actually have help up quite well, except for the 7 iron which met its demise a few years back. I bought them used, if I recall correctly.

Just random curiosity.

After a quick Google search, my guess it that yes, they were knockoffs or component heads for a golf chain (like Golf Smith). Glad to hear they held up for 13 years!

Thanks. I tried the ol Google, but didn't find anything.

Did you ever find out who makes the tour model III evolution irons.  i have a whole set that was handed down by my father. i have had them for about i have had them for 13 yrs as well and would like to sell them or at least find out how much they are worth on the pga value guide. thanks for you help

  • 8 months later...

I have the Tour Model III.  What these two inquirers are asking is solved in the name of "Ben Hogan."  The orginal grips, which I have, are "Ben Hogan" "Exclusive Design Hogan."  Ben Hogan started his own golf company decades ago.  I never head what became of it as far as how long it lasted or whatever, but if anything, the newer Pings, as you suggested were originals that the Hogans were knockoffs is likely the reverse.  Hogan designed some great clubs and once in a great while you'll see a set of "Tour Model III "Red Dot" Evolution clubs for aroun $300.  That is what they still fetch today.  I hope that this is the beginning of a helpful answer and I hope that the old times who have a lot of head knowledge of the Hogan days can fill in the blanks.

According to some online aucions, the shaft was manufactured, at least for a while, by Brunswick, U. S. A.

  • 4 years later...

Tour Model irons have been around for about 30 years. There are small shops and individuals who put together their own clubs and these heads are a PING knock-off style that comes, or at least came if they are still made, from China. One of my early sets were Tour Model II Pro Trajectory that a local shop put together for me. I didn't stay with them long as the trajectory was 1 club less than what I was previously using so I had to hit a 7 iron to my old 8's distance. The quality of the metal itself I cannot comment on but metal alloys are not all the same and often manipulated. Knowing how pro-line clubs are marked up Tour Model clubs are probably well suited for average to beginner player but a tour pro would certainly tell a big difference. In most golf equipment from gloves to balls to shoes you get what you pay for. The heads can be matched with most any grip and shafts available and thus usually cost much much less than the expensive high end clubs. They aren't bad clubs, and are designed after PING's design but don't expect them to hit like PINGS. Why pay hundreds of dollars for clubs for the novice, beginner or Sunday golfer when these will certainly let you know if it's a sport you want to continue and invest more time and money into. Hope that helps and sorry it took 6 years to get you an answer.

I think that any time you see words like "Tour model" on a club, you should take that like "chocolaty flavor" on a food product. What those words mean is that it's not REAL chocolate! It's some brown substance that has been flavored with chemicals that taste like chocolate!

Was doing a search and came across this post and the dates are around that time. I bought my first set of clubs as a beginner around 1995 and sadly, it's still the same set I use today in 2020. I've only added a Driver to my original set.  I've probably played over 400 rounds with them and they are still in great shape.  From my memory they  were advertised as replica Pings. I didn't really care, they were clubs and the whole set cost me $200! I'm comfortable with them and consistently play high 80's low 90's as a casual weekend golfer.

The heel shafted blade market is just not that big. I have 3 8802 style putters, but I have maybe 25 putters over all.

Even the guys who buy the Napas don't really play them. You can go to TCC and a lot of the guys there are buying them as an investment.

Reid, me, and a few wrx'ers are the only guys I know who actually game their Napas.

Wilson has had many remakes of the 8802 over the years. They have a new one but with an insert and a sightline :)

The Ray Cook Austin1 can be had for $40sh new from a sponsor

The new Cleveland Calamity Jane is similar but not quite the 8802 look.

Best bet is to get a used one off ebay(Cleveland Designed By would be a great option) then refiinish.

Try to find a Titleist Tour Model Heel Shafted Original, its a great "8802" style putter. Theres two versions offset and no offset so you have a choice. Ray Cook has one which is pretty solid. Also Mills has the TPM 7 (just picked one up on ebay pretty cheap) which seems pretty nice (going to try and restore it). There are so many versions but these are great for price you can pick them up for.

I had an old Wilson 8802 (not original) that I loved. Bad day a few years ago, and it ended up in a pond. Since I've been using the Pro Platinum Newport 2, and it does OK.   Anyway, I'm wondering why there are so few of these heel shafted blades on the market. These putters were always considered great for faster greens, and nowdays it seems no courses are under 9 on the stimp...most around 10. So to me it seems we'd be seeing more, not less.   Shopping for one of these is a pain. Cameron has the Napa (beauty but expensive). Cleveland and Ping make ugly ones. I've seen a Yes version, but found it very light.   Any others out there I could look into?     Thanks

The numbers of the heel shafted blade type putters is pretty high actually, but the usable, or should I say, available heel shafted putters is quite low due to the number of people throwing them into ponds, lakes, and rivers, etc etc. :) It just goes to show you how popular they are but they don't seem to work all that well. :)

Forgot abot the old Spaulding TP Mills.

The TPM 16 and 17 I think. I've been trying to get info on the differences. Help anyone?

I have been trying to find one for a decent price to refinish. The current "resurgence" seems to have driven up the prices a bit.

I game my Napa, and I'm looking into getting a handmade mills version. You could also check out The Kent made by Slighter, also I think Byron Morgan can make this style.

I have a Snake Eyes heel shafted blade, Viper Tour 1, and it's pretty sweet. Reasonably priced. Good weight. Sweet like a peach when struck well. I tend to leave it open from time to time when I storke it, but it is a sweet SWEET stick. I don't think you can go wrong here. If you want one I'll make you a deal.

I'm with you ! (all my mates think I'm crazy when I play with one of my napa's - specialy the brand new valley). For me, heel shafted blade are the most beatifull putters (with the SD 1) but you need to be a good putter to be efficient with it !

Rabidpenguin45

I have always wanted a cameron Napa... just not paying a high price... I'll get one eventually though.

I play a Napa, I had a Slighter Kent that was every bit as good, but I traded it out. I have seen pictures of the new "gun" like finish on Slighter's board, A Kent in that would be awesome.

I prefer the Designed by Palmer styles with the thicker topline and more pronounced flange. They just seem to fit my eye better.

Bettinardi makes a nice blade style in both carbon steel and stainless steel (DASS) though if your looking for most affordable the carbon would be the way to go.

Yamaha In Depth Driver Testing – V201 Tour Model

The V201 Tour Model…

The first driver we’ll look at today is the very limited and practically sold out/impossible to find V201 Tour Model. The V201 Tour is only available with the very good new Tour AD DI-6 shaft. The driver was tested in both lofts, 9 and 10*, both shafted with the only shaft available with this limited model the Tour AD Di-6 in Stiff flex. I’ll be showing the results from the 9* testing.

Looks more like a 400cc driver at address…

The V201 Tour is 440cc and very traditionally shaped. It has a deeper face and a high back design. The face sits square at address and the weighting is neutral for workability. Mark actually noted that at address the head seems smaller than 440cc looking more like like 400cc. From testing the recommended swing speed for this head and shaft combo is 100mph to around 109mph. The DI-6 is a mid launching low spin shaft and is very stable and CPM’ed out at 257cpm and a 4.39kg center flex. Test show it suits both the swinger and hitter with no problems handling an aggressive swing. However aggressive swingers closer to 110mph beware as it is possible to overpower a lighter 60g range stiff flex.

Mid trajectory, low spin….

We all know that Yamaha drivers produce awesome distance and that shows in Mark’s performance chart. Yamaha drivers starting with the 2009 RPM models began focusing on backspin and launch. Moving away from the high launch theory towards a more “optimal” launch and “optimal” spin design.  Still this combo of low spinning head and shaft produce backspin around 2177rpm. The mid launch and low spin produce great control and roll. Workability is ranked high in the test as the driver will fade and draw at will.  Just a note as well the 9* head was measured for real loft and it came out at… yes 9*. The driver is true to specs as expected since it is manufactured in Japan at a factory we all know (Exxx) with some of the tightest tolerances in golf.

DI-6 is balanced and stable…

Overall testing showed wonderful feel and sound from the driver. Hitting it towards the top of the face increased spin and launch but not excessively. Hitting it on the sweet spot produced the lowest spin and trajectory.  Mark also noted that the DI-6 was not as rigid as he had expected, it had some flex to it but was still very stable and could not be rated as “hard” as say thye 9003 series.  This is probably why he rated the shaft in between swinger and hitter rather than all on the hitter side like the 9003.  The less rigid but stable flex is also what contributes to the feel of the club as it is very responsive on load and unload.  He does warn as I mentioned above that the most aggressive swingers may overcome this shaft and be better off with the DI-6 tipped. (note that GD leaves tipping of their shafts up to the discretion of the installer/player and in most cases they are not tipped for retail installs).

Strong performing package…

So to cap  it off, the better player or athlete golfer swinging from 100-109mph and including the semi aggressive player can play this driver to the best of its ability. It will provide mid trajectory low spin balls with fade and draw at will and will set up like a compact pear shaped head. Feel will exhilerate as will distance performance. I guess that’s why its so hard to get now in Japan! But if you’d like one we can certainly track one down from Yamaha.

TaylorMade 2023 Spider Tour Putters Review

Dave Usher tests the new TaylorMade Spider Tour putters to see what golfers can expect from this reimagined range

TaylorMade 2023 Spider Tour Putters Review

One of the most iconic putters in golf has had a reboot. The new and improved TaylorMade Spider Tour offers maximum forgiveness, a soft feel off the face and new alignment markings on the crown which make it very easy to line up. You should strongly consider the Spider Tour if you are thinking of changing your putter.

Premium feel and performance

Excellent visual alignment

Impressive forgiveness on off-center strikes

Only available in one color

David Usher

When a putter design works it will stick around for a long time. For example, the Ping Anser design is still popular on Tour even now, several decades after it first appeared on the scene. The TaylorMade Spider is a mere youngster in comparison but it too is an iconic design that will no doubt be found in golf bags for many years to come.

Spiders always feature prominently in any list of the best putters but when a design is as popular as this it can sometimes be difficult for a brand to come up with new selling points and improvements year on year.

Over the years TaylorMade has made lots of little tweaks and added plenty of wrinkles to its ever expanding range of Spider putters, and its latest offering includes a reboot of the original classic design - the Spider Tour. For fans of the original - and there are many - this is an exciting development. Spider putters are among the most versatile putters out there and are popular with Tour Pros as well as being one of the best putters for high handicappers .

The original Spider Tour is one of the most recognisable putters in golf. There have been different variations over the years but the mission statement remained constant - to deliver high-MOI performance as well as great stability, consistency and forgiveness. The Spider Tour putter comes into its own on off-center strikes, as it helps maintain the direction and control of the putt. This makes it one of the most forgiving putters on the market.

TaylorMade Spider Tour Putters

The new Spider Tour Series features two classic head shapes as well as two new models. In addition to the Tour and Tour X, there is also a Tour V and Tour Z. There will be a fifth model too, as the Spider Tour Series S arrives next spring.

The Spider Tour with its iconic head is the epitome of high-MOI performance and delivers stability, consistency and forgiveness. Spider Tour’s stable design is especially impactful with off-center strikes, as it helps to maintain the direction and control of the putt.

The Spider Tour X design is one of the best TaylorMade putters and has been made famous by Rory McIlroy , who uses a Spider X Hydro Blast with a flow neck. The Tour X combines the performance of a blade with the benefits of a mallet design. With TSS weights positioned farther forward, it delivers increased face rotation while maintaining 5,000 MOI for enhanced stability compared to blade putters .

Spider Tour Z is one of two new shapes in the Spider Tour Series. It features a wing-shaped back and low-profile design for a comfortable setup that precisely frames the ball. This mallet putter is strategically weighted to promote face rotation and a blade-like feel with maintained stability.

Finally the Spider Tour V. Another new design which features a modern streamlined construction with a compact shape that makes it ideal for golfers seeking enhanced control.

TaylorMade Spider Tour V Putter at address

TaylorMade Spider Tour V Putter at address

Each model is available in two hosel options; double bend and short slant. The double bend is face balanced while the short slant gives a slight toe hang (29° on the Tour and Tour Z, 30° on the Tour X and 32° on the Tour V). If that’s confusing to you, then you can read our handy guide about whether you need a face balanced or toe hang putter .

The two things that always stand out to me with Spider putters are the soft feel and the forgiveness and these new putters deliver on both counts.

The soft feel comes from the white TPU Pure Roll insert. This is a throwback to the original model as more recent Spider putters have been fitted with the Pure Roll2 insert, which has a slightly firmer feel to it. The face features grooves angled at 45° for optimal forward roll, while the white insert provides a nice symmetry with the white True Path Alignment aid on the top of the crown.

I particularly like the True Path Alignment as it’s a definite upgrade on the alignment aid on some previous Spider models and makes it much easier to start putts on the correct path.

Interestingly, each putter in the Spider Tour range boasts a different CG (center of gravity) location to fit a wide variety of putting styles and preferences.

TaylorMade Spider Tour Putter

TaylorMade Spider Tour Putter at address

I tested both the Spider Tour and the Spider Tour V putters and put them up against my TaylorMade Spider EX putter which I have had in the bag for a couple of years. I was interested to see how the newer models compared and on initial testing on my artificial turf putting surface at home I found both newer models to be ever so slightly more forgiving on off center strikes than my Spider EX, while I also managed to find the sweet spot more frequently.

This could be due to the tech advancements made in the new Spider Tour putters or it could just be that - for whatever reason - I made better strokes than I did with my Spider EX. It’s difficult to know for sure but either way I suppose it’s a win for the new models.

While I love the look and feel of both the Spider Tour and the Tour V, I definitely prefer the Tour based on how it looks behind the ball. It has a slightly bigger footprint and a little bit more going on at the back of the putter, which gives the impression it will be more forgiving on heel and toe strikes than the other models in the range. Even if that it is not the case and it is just a placebo effect, anything that boosts confidence has to be a good thing. It’s always important to have a putter that suits your eye.

TaylorMade Spider Tour Putter

Testing the TaylorMade Spider Tour putter at Effingham Golf Club

I used the Spider Tour for nine holes at Effingham Golf Club and it certainly lived up to expectations. I hit virtually every putt out of the center of the putter which is unusual for me as I have a tendency to hit a good percentage of putts off the toe.

My lag putting was pretty good (by my mediocre standards anyway!) while I felt confident on the short ones due to how stable the putter felt on takeaway and through the ball. The alignment aid definitely helped me start the ball on the right line on putts inside six feet, which are often a big problem for me. I’ve since practiced quite a bit with both the Tour and the Tour V and both performed impressively, although as mentioned above the slightly larger footprint of the Tour suits my eye better and will probably be very popular with golfers who lack confidence on the greens.

All four putters in the range offer something a little bit different so which one you choose is entirely a matter of personal preference. Try them all, see which feels best suited to your stroke. It isn’t a case of one being better than the other as these are all premium putters with enough variety to cater for most golfers, but I expect the Tour will have the most shelf appeal due to its iconic design and the nostalgia aspect it carries with golfers of a certain age.

I love the look the gunmetal PVD finish which TaylorMade claim adds durability and will help prevent the scratching and general wear and tear that putters tend to suffer from. The original Spider Tour did tend to scuff up quite a bit so this will be a welcome improvement.

The gunmetal is the only color option available in shops but if you want something different then for an extra cost TaylorMade do offer a number of customisation options on its website, with silver, black and rose gold alternatives available along with lots of other custom choices on face inserts, back badge, sole plate, shaft, grip and head cover.

The new TaylorMade Spider Tour models will be in shops from October 27, priced $349.99 in the US and £299.99 in the UK.

Dave is a distinctly average golfer with (fading) aspirations to be so much more than that. An avid collector of vintage Ping putters and the world's biggest Payne Stewart fan, in 2021 Dave turned his front garden into a giant putting green to work on the weakest area of his game. Progress has been slow but steady! In addition to his work reviewing golf gear and writing features for Golf Monthly and T3 , Dave is the founder of the  Bang Average Golf website .

Dave’s lowest round is a one over par 73 around Kirkby Valley Golf Club in 2018, which included a bogey on the 18th to ruin the one and only chance he’ll ever have of shooting an even par or better score.  That errant tee shot on 18 does not still haunt him to this day though, in fact he hardly ever thinks about it.  No, honestly, he doesn’t. Not at all. Never.

Dave splits most of his golf between Hurlston Hall Golf Club in Ormskirk, Lancs, and Berrington Hall Golf Club in St Helens and has a handicap that fluctuates between 9 and 12, largely depending on how poor his putting is.

A Moscow Free Walking Tour of the Iconic Red Square

Updated March 10th, 2020

This post might contain affiliate links. That means I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, if you buy through my site. I appreciate your support of my site.

No visit to Moscow, Russia is complete unless you take a walk around the famous Red Square and see the iconic sights of the city. One of the best ways to see all the famous landmarks in Moscow and learn a little something about them too is on a free Moscow walking tour through the Red Square.

Continue reading for a sneak peek at what you will see on your free tour in Moscow and for tips on both the tour and visiting the sights. Make sure to save some time during your trip to go inside of the magnificent buildings because you will not be going in the buildings during the tour.

The State Historical Museum

Moscow State Historical Museum

The Moscow free walking tour begins at the Marshal Zhukov monument in front of the State Historical Museum . You can’t miss this massive red building. The museum’s interior is almost as spectacular as the artifacts you can see within. Read my post dedicated to the museum here to find out more on what you can see and tips for visiting. Admission is free with the Moscow City Pass .

The Kremlin

The Moscow Kremlin

Behind the walls of the Kremlin lie the working offices of Russian’s government and president. When visiting the Kremlin you can see the Armory Chamber, Cathedral Square, the Patriach’s Palace and many more cathedrals. You definitely want to buy tickets ahead of time so you avoid the long-lines. You can get free admission with the Moscow City Pass . It’s also worth it to take a guided tour if you don’t speak Russian so you have more of an understanding of what you are seeing.

St. Basil’s Cathedral

Moscow's St. Basil's Cathedral

If asked to conquer up an image of Moscow, St. Basil’s Cathedral might just be the most likely image you picture. The cathedral has a museum that you can visit at a later time. You can buy tickets at the ticket kiosk outside the cathedral or receive free admission with the Moscow City Pass .

Moskva River

Moskva River

Next up on the tour is the Moskva River which runs through the center of Moscow. A cruise on the Moskva River is a great way to see the city from a different perspective.

GUM Shopping Mall

Who would think a mall would be one of Moscow’s most well-known attractions? GUM shopping mall across from the Kremlin makes up one of the four sides of the Red Square. The stores might be a bit too pricey for shopping, but the gorgeous interior is worth a visit. If that doesn’t convince you, the mall has some of the best ice cream! GUM is the only building you go inside during the free walking tour. There are pay bathrooms you can use while you have a few minutes of free time.

Kazan Cathedral

Moscow Kazan Cathedral

Located on the northeast corner of the Red Square, the Kazan Cathedral is another impressive dome-shaped building in Moscow that is also an active place of worship. Entering the cathedral is allowed, but remember to be respectful if people are worshipping.

Bolshoi Theater

Moscow Bolshoi Theater

Contrary to the previous buildings, the Bolshoi Theater isn’t along one of the four sides of the Red Square. Located a few minutes away, the theater is one of the best theaters in the world. Make sure to come back for a guided tour of the inside or make reservations far ahead of time to attend a ballet or opera.

Alexander Gardens

Moscow Alexander Gardens

The tour ends near the Alexander Gardens , a free public park located along the western Kremlin walls. The garden’s green lawns, sculptures and water fountains offer a nice place to take a stroll or relax a bit after some busy sightseeing.

Moscow Red Square

You can visit all these sites on your own, but the best part of doing the Moscow free tour is that you learn more information and have the potential to meet new people!

During my tour I started to talk to a woman from Malaysia and she invited me to join her and her friends for a Russian meal afterwards. It’s these little impromptu meetings and opportunities that I love most about traveling and add more to the sightseeing experience. While I was a little hesitant about going to the tour myself I told myself it would be a great opportunity to possibly meet new people. I love when things work out like that!

If you have already seen the iconic sights of the Red Square and are looking for other things to do in Moscow check out my What to Do in Moscow post that gives more off-the beaten track things to do in Moscow!

Moscow Free Walking Tour Visiting Information

Moscow Free Walking Tours

How to Get There

The Moscow Free Walking Tour begins at the Marshal Zhukov monument in front of the State Historical Museum (a large red building). The website shows a map with the exact meeting point.

To get to the red square area you can take the blue 3 metro line to the Ploshchad Revolyutsii stop, or the green 2 line to the Teatralnaya station or the red 1 line to the Okhotny Ryad station. For more on how to use the metro read my Moscow Metro Guide .

Tours every day at 10:30am – 1pm in English

If you need a toilet before the start of the tour the Okhotny Ryad and GUM shopping malls are both close to the start of the tour. You will need to pay to use the toilets. There is a quick break mid-way through the tour at the GUM shopping mall where you can use the toilet if needed.

During the mid-way break in the tour you can buy some ice cream at the GUM shopping mall. There aren’t many other options or time for anything else. After the tour there are a lot of restaurants in the area. There are a couple of Varenichnaya №1 locations nearby if you would like some authentic Russian food. Their speciality is Russian dumplings. Another classic choice nearby is Grand Cafe Dr. Jhivago. While you can try traditional Russian foods like borscht and Olivier Salad, you may need a reservation. GUM has several restaurants, including a couple of buffets upstairs.

Recommendations

While I would start off your visit to Moscow with a tour of the Red Square, make sure to come back to each place to tour the inside. If you are visiting several sights consider buying the Moscow City Pass  to save money on admissions.

Other Tour Options

Another company  Moscow Free Tour  does a similar free walking tour in the Red Square. Check the site for the details on the starting point and times. If you prefer a private paid tour with a hotel pick-up and a visit to St. Basil’s Cathedral included check out this tour . For a private paid tour with a hotel pick-up and a visit to the Kremlin included you may want to take this tour or this one . Even if you don’t typically take tours, I would recommend taking tours as much as possible in Moscow. Many people do not speak English and most information is not in English either.

Where to Stay in Moscow

Find somewhere to stay in Moscow near the Red Square so you are convenient to all the sights!

The Kremlin looks rather imposing. It would be great to explore the history in Moscow.

There is a lot of history in Moscow to explore!

What a handy guide to get the most of Moscow’s red square! I’ve always wanted to try a walking tour and this looks like the perfect place to start!

I really enjoy walking tours, I think they are a great way to get to know a new place!

You have highlighted all the main sights around and in the Red Square indeed! I have visited Moscow in winter and the atmosphere was magical…even though it was cold 🙂 I’m looking forward to visiting in summer too!

Yes, there is a magical feel during the winter. I have to say I prefer the warmer, brighter summers though 🙂

I am planning to go to Moscow and St. Petersburg this year so reading this was very helpful. I would love to do the walking tour! What time of year did you do it? I am planning to go in August as I really can’t stand the cold 😀 Do you think August might be a good time to visit Moscow? Thank you so much for your information!

I did the walking tour in September. July and August are the best times to visit Moscow in my opinion, so you are going at a great time! I lived in Moscow for a year so I have a lot of posts about Moscow and a couple for St. Petersburg too. Please check out my other posts as you are planning your trip and feel free to send any questions my way!

I’m a huge fan of taking free walking tours whenever my husband and I travel. We learn more about the history from the local’s perspective. Your walking tour in Moscow looks fun. The St. Basil’s Cathedral is beautiful and would love to see it. Thanks for sharing the must-see places in Moscow!

I’m a big fan of free walking tours too! I completely agree that you get a good perspective and introduction to the history of the city.

I would love to take the walking tour to get a good coverage of the area! The tip about paying for the bathrooms is great. That’s something I didn’t realize when I went to Europe for the first time from the US.

I always find it annoying paying for bathrooms in Europe!

I visited Moscow in June this year for the World Cup and I loved it. St. Basil’s Cathedral was the highlight for me, it’s such an impressive piece of architecture. I would’ve liked to visit more of Russia but maybe next time!

I really enjoyed Moscow during the World Cup too. The city was much livelier than usual!

' src=

I have been to St. Petersburg but never to Moscow. I think that these kind of tours are very useful to gather many information but I second your suggestion to visit the palaces inside as they have stunning interior decor and art treasures.

Yes, I think both going on tours and getting an overview and touring the inside of places are good to do.

St. Basil’s cathedral is definitely a beautiful place to visit. I would also love to stroll by the Alexander gardens and maybe spend some time in the shopping mall call mom maybe visit the theater, also I would love to visit Kremlin and the State Historical Museum. That’s a great list you have managed to provide here.

' src=

Never been to Russia, but the country’s history and culture has always fascinated me. Great list of things to do in Moscow’s Red Square. Kremlin is definitely on top of my list!

Russia does have a fascinating history and culture!

The architecture here always looks so beautiful. I would love to go to Russia. Some helpful tips here that would really help me navigate a future trip. I love the Russian ballet so a trip to the theater would be a must for me.

The Comprehensive Guide to Moscow Nightlife

tour model 201 putter

Moscow’s nightlife scene is thriving, and arguably one of the best the world has to offer – top-notch Russian women, coupled with a never-ending list of venues, Moscow has a little bit of something for everyone’s taste. Moscow nightlife is not for the faint of heart – and if you’re coming, you better be ready to go Friday and Saturday night into the early morning.

This comprehensive guide to Moscow nightlife will run you through the nuts and bolts of all you need to know about Moscow’s nightclubs and give you a solid blueprint to operate with during your time in Moscow.

What you need to know before hitting Moscow nightclubs

Prices in moscow nightlife.

Before you head out and start gaming all the sexy Moscow girls , we have to talk money first. Bring plenty because in Moscow you can never bring a big enough bankroll. Remember, you’re the man so making a fuzz of not paying a drink here or there will not go down well.

Luckily most Moscow clubs don’t do cover fees. Some electro clubs will charge 15-20$, depending on their lineup. There’s the odd club with a minimum spend of 20-30$, which you’ll drop on drinks easily. By and large, you can scope out the venues for free, which is a big plus.

Bottle service is a great deal in Moscow. At top-tier clubs, it starts at 1,000$. That’ll go a long way with premium vodka at 250$, especially if you have three or four guys chipping in. Not to mention that it’s a massive status boost for getting girls, especially at high-end clubs.

Without bottle service, you should estimate a budget of 100-150$ per night. That is if you drink a lot and hit the top clubs with the hottest girls. Scale down for less alcohol and more basic places.

Dress code & Face control

Door policy in Moscow is called “face control” and it’s always the guy behind the two gorillas that gives the green light if you’re in or out.

In Moscow nightlife there’s only one rule when it comes to dress codes:

You can never be underdressed.

People dress A LOT sharper than, say, in the US and that goes for both sexes. For high-end clubs, you definitely want to roll with a sharp blazer and a pocket square, not to mention dress shoes in tip-top condition. Those are the minimum requirements to level the playing field vis a vis with other sharply dressed guys that have a lot more money than you do. Unless you plan to hit explicit electro or underground clubs, which have their own dress code, you are always on the money with that style.

Getting in a Moscow club isn’t as hard as it seems: dress sharp, speak English at the door and look like you’re in the mood to spend all that money that you supposedly have (even if you don’t). That will open almost any door in Moscow’s nightlife for you.

Types of Moscow Nightclubs

In Moscow there are four types of clubs with the accompanying female clientele:

High-end clubs:

These are often crossovers between restaurants and clubs with lots of tables and very little space to dance. Heavy accent on bottle service most of the time but you can work the room from the bar as well. The hottest and most expensive girls in Moscow go there. Bring deep pockets and lots of self-confidence and you have a shot at swooping them.

Regular Mid-level clubs:

They probably resemble more what you’re used to in a nightclub: big dancefloors, stages and more space to roam around. Bottle service will make you stand out more but you can also do well without. You can find all types of girls but most will be in the 6-8 range. Your targets should always be the girls drinking and ideally in pairs. It’s impossible not to swoop if your game is at least half-decent.

Basic clubs/dive bars:

Usually spots with very cheap booze and lax face control. If you’re dressed too sharp and speak no Russian, you might attract the wrong type of attention so be vigilant. If you know the local scene you can swoop 6s and 7s almost at will. Usually students and girls from the suburbs.

Electro/underground clubs:

Home of the hipsters and creatives. Parties there don’t mean meeting girls and getting drunk but doing pills and spacing out to the music. Lots of attractive hipster girls if that is your niche. That is its own scene with a different dress code as well.

What time to go out in Moscow

Moscow nightlife starts late. Don’t show up at bars and preparty spots before 11pm because you’ll feel fairly alone. Peak time is between 1am and 3am. That is also the time of Moscow nightlife’s biggest nuisance: concerts by artists you won’t know and who only distract your girls from drinking and being gamed. From 4am to 6am the regular clubs are emptying out but plenty of people, women included, still hit up one of the many afterparty clubs. Those last till well past 10am.

As far as days go: Fridays and Saturdays are peak days. Thursday is an OK day, all other days are fairly weak and you have to know the right venues.

The Ultimate Moscow Nightclub List

Short disclaimer: I didn’t add basic and electro clubs since you’re coming for the girls, not for the music. This list will give you more options than you’ll be able to handle on a weekend.

Preparty – start here at 11PM

Classic restaurant club with lots of tables and a smallish bar and dancefloor. Come here between 11pm and 12am when the concert is over and they start with the actual party. Even early in the night tons of sexy women here, who lean slightly older (25 and up).

The second floor of the Ugolek restaurant is an extra bar with dim lights and house music tunes. Very small and cozy with a slight hipster vibe but generally draws plenty of attractive women too. A bit slower vibe than Valenok.

Very cool, spread-out venue that has a modern library theme. Not always full with people but when it is, it’s brimming with top-tier women. Slow vibe here and better for grabbing contacts and moving on.

tour model 201 putter

High-end: err on the side of being too early rather than too late because of face control.

Secret Room

Probably the top venue at the moment in Moscow . Very small but wildly popular club, which is crammed with tables but always packed. They do parties on Thursdays and Sundays as well. This club has a hip-hop/high-end theme, meaning most girls are gold diggers, IG models, and tattooed hip hop chicks. Very unfavorable logistics because there is almost no room no move inside the club but the party vibe makes it worth it. Strict face control.

Close to Secret Room and with a much more favorable and spacious three-part layout. This place attracts very hot women but also lots of ball busters and fakes that will leave you blue-balled. Come early because after 4am it starts getting empty fast. Electronic music.

A slightly kitsch restaurant club that plays Russian pop and is full of gold diggers, semi-pros, and men from the Caucasus republics. Thursday is the strongest night but that dynamic might be changing since Secret Room opened its doors. You can swoop here but it will be a struggle.

tour model 201 putter

Mid-level: your sweet spot in terms of ease and attractiveness of girls for an average budget.

Started going downwards in 2018 due to lax face control and this might get even worse with the World Cup. In terms of layout one of the best Moscow nightclubs because it’s very big and bottle service gives you a good edge here. Still attracts lots of cute girls with loose morals but plenty of provincial girls (and guys) as well. Swooping is fairly easy here.

I haven’t been at this place in over a year, ever since it started becoming ground zero for drunken teenagers. Similar clientele to Icon but less chic, younger and drunker. Decent mainstream music that attracts plenty of tourists. Girls are easy here as well.

Sort of a Coyote Ugly (the real one in Moscow sucks) with party music and lots of drunken people licking each others’ faces. Very entertaining with the right amount of alcohol and very easy to pull in there. Don’t think about staying sober in here, you’ll hate it.

Artel Bessonitsa/Shakti Terrace

Electronic music club that is sort of a high-end place with an underground clientele and located between the teenager clubs Icon and Gipsy. Very good music but a bit all over the place with their vibe and their branding. You can swoop almost any type of girl here from high-heeled beauty to coked-up hipsters, provided they’re not too sober.

tour model 201 putter

Afterparty: if by 5AM  you haven’t pulled, it’s time to move here.

Best afterparty spot in terms of trying to get girls. Pretty much no one is sober in there and savage gorilla game goes a long way. Lots of very hot and slutty-looking girls but it can be hard to tell apart who is looking for dick and who is just on drugs but not interested. If by 9-10am you haven’t pulled, it is probably better to surrender.

The hipster alternative for afterparties, where even more drugs are in play. Plenty of attractive girls there but you have to know how to work this type of club. A nicer atmosphere and better music but if you’re desperate to pull, you’ll probably go to Miks.

Weekday jokers: if you’re on the hunt for some sexy Russian girls during the week, here are two tips to make your life easier.

Chesterfield

Ladies night on Wednesdays means this place gets pretty packed with smashed teenagers and 6s and 7s. Don’t pull out the three-piece suit in here because it’s a “simpler” crowd. Definitely your best shot on Wednesdays.

If you haven’t pulled at Chesterfield, you can throw a Hail Mary and hit up Garage’s Black Music Wednesdays. Fills up really late but there are some cute Black Music groupies in here. Very small club. Thursday through Saturday they do afterparties and you have an excellent shot and swooping girls that are probably high.

Shishas Sferum

This is pretty much your only shot on Mondays and Tuesdays because they offer free or almost free drinks for women. A fairly low-class club where you should watch your drinks. As always the case in Moscow, there will be cute girls here on any day of the week but it’s nowhere near as good as on the weekend.

tour model 201 putter

In a nutshell, that is all you need to know about where to meet Moscow girls in nightlife. There are tons of options, and it all depends on what best fits your style, based on the type of girls that you’re looking for.

Moscow guide&photo! Feel Putin vibes and explore the enigmatic Russian soul through history ...

The sprawling, mind-boggling metropolis of Russian Moscow has long been one of the theatrical stages on which the great dramas of Europe and Asia have been played out in grand style. Burned by Napoleon in 1812, immortalised by Tolstoy, utilised by the Bolsheviks and championed as a bastion of heroic defiance by the post-war communists, it’s almost hard to believe just how defining the historical events that found their home on Moscow’s streets have been. Moscow tour guides will easily be able to mark the major must-see landmarks on the map, from the onion-domed orthodox Saint Basil's Cathedral, to the political powerhouse of Red Square just next door, while others will be quick to recommend a ride on Moscow’s famous subterranean metro system, or a visit to the UNESCO-attested Novodevichy Convent on the city’s southern side. But Moscow is a city also in the throes of a cultural wrangling between the old and the new. Creative energies abound here: Boho bars and pumping super clubs now occupy the iconic mega structures of the old USSR; high-fashion outlets, trendy shopping malls and luxurious residential districts stand as testimony to a city that’s now the undisputed playground of the world’s super-rich, while sprawling modern art museums dominate the cultural offering of the downtown districts north of the Moskva River.
