Multi-Platinum selling rock band REO Speedwagon will take the stage at The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas for six nights. The “An Evening of Hi Infidelity …And More” shows are scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. and feature the band playing their entire 1981 landmark album, Hi Infidelity, from beginning to end, along with a second set of hits and fan favorites.

Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon’s unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording jump-started the burgeoning rock movement in the Midwest. Platinum albums and radio staples soon followed, setting the stage for the release of the band’s explosive Hi Infidelity in 1980, which contained the massive hit singles “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On the Run.” That landmark album spent 15 weeks in the No. 1 slot and has since earned the RIAA’s coveted 10X Diamond Award for surpassing sales of 10 million units in the United States.

From 1977 to 1989, REO Speedwagon released nine consecutive albums all certified Platinum or higher. Today, REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million albums around the globe, and Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall (bass), Dave Amato (guitar), and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying audiences worldwide in concert with hits and fan-favorites such as “Ridin’ The Storm Out,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Time For Me To Fly,” “Roll With The Changes,” “Keep On Loving You,” “Take It On the Run,” and many, many more.

REO Speedwagon, Rick Springfield Announce 2024 Tour Dates

The classic rock mainstays are playing some exclusive shows together next March

Next spring, REO Speedwagon and Rick Springfield are embarking on a brief co-headlining tour. The trek kicks off on March 20 at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania and wraps up on March 27 at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium-Coliseum in Knoxville, Tennessee. Ticket pre-sale begins next Wednesday, November 1 at 10am local time and runs through Thursday, November 2 at 10pm. General tickets go on sale Friday, November 3 10am local time.

“Get ready for REO Speedwagon and Rick Springfield,” said REO Speedwagon in a statement.

REO Speedwagon’s last album was 2007’s Find Your Way Home . The band’s fifteenth studio effort, it featured the Billboard-charting single, “I Need to Fall.” The record was released through the band’s own label, Speedwagon Recordings. Throughout their, REO Speedwagon have sold over 40 million records worldwide. They’ve released 13 Top 40 hits, including chart-toppers “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and “Keep On Loving You.” The crown jewel of their catalog is 1980’s Hi Infidelity , which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has since received the rare diamond certification from the RIAA.

Back in January, founding keyboardist Neal Doughty announced his retirement from touring with the band after five decades. Founding frontman Kevin Cronin remains, alongside bassist Bruce Hall, who joined the band in 1977. When Doughty confirmed his retirement from the road, Hall said that he would always be a member of the REO Speedwagon brotherhood, and that the door for him to play with the band again would always be open.

Cronin and Hall tour with guitarist Dave Amato, who joined the group in 1989, and drummer Brian Hitt, who came aboard in 1990.

Icon of the 1980s Rick Springfield still tours relentlessly. The GRAMMY® Award-winning singer has sold over 20 million albums and has served as a great example of longevity in music. Two of his classic albums – 1981’s Working Class Dog and 1982’s Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet – both landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200.

In addition to his music career, Springfield is also an accomplished actor. He had a starring role in the 1984 film, Hard to Hold . He’s also appeared alongside Meryl Streep in 2015’s Ricki and the Flash . On television, Rick starred in the long-running soap opera General Hospital from 1981 to 1983 as Dr. Noah Drake. He reprised the role from 2005 through 2008, and again in 2012. He starred in the series High Tide from 1994 to 1997, and has had roles in Hot in Cleveland , Supernatural , American Horror Story , and HBO’s True Detective .

In 2009, Springfield guest-starred in Season 3 of Showtime’s hit show, Californication , playing a raunchy, stereotypical rockstar version of himself.

It’s unlikely they’ll be traveling by train, speedwagon or yacht.

In any event, Train , REO Speedwagon and Yacht Rock Revue have announced they’re teaming up to travel all over North America this summer as part of their huge 43-concert ‘Summer Road Trip Tour.’

“This tour won’t just be a great time with great people, but a tour that will have a ton of familiar songs to most generations,” Train lead singer Pat Monahan shared. “I will be wishing I was in the audience as much as I’ll love being on the stage.”

Along the way, the transportation-minded co-headliners will make a handful of stops in New York and New Jersey.

First up, they’ll make a pit stop at Lewiston, NY’s Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater on Friday, July 19.

After that, the trio is slated to perform in Saratoga Springs on July 23, Bethel on July 24, Camden, NJ on July 26, Long Island’s Jones Beach Theater on July 27 and Syracuse on July 31.

Finally, they’ll chug into Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center on Thursday, Aug. 1.

And if you can’t wait to hear “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and “Hey, Soul Sister” this summer, you can pick up tickets to hear the legendary groups live as soon as today.

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, Feb. 2, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Who is Yacht Rock Revue?

The soft rockin’ group formed in Atlanta in 2007 and is made up of members from Y-O-U, which disbanded in the mid-aughts.

Their origin story is a unique one; the ten-piece ironically performed soft rock covers at a local club and that turned into a weekly residency.

We experienced the guys in Murphys, California on a near full moon. This is the eleventh time for me in nearly forty years and the fifth time with this lineup. Though there are songs and moments we all expect in a Styx show, there were also some nice surprises and successful road-testing of their more recent material this evening.

As always, they put on a spirited, highly professional show. The sound mix was clear and plenty loud, though a little too muddy in the bottom end for me - this might have been an issue with the house sound.

Singer-keyboardist Lawrence Gowan has emerged as the showman of the group, with Tommy Shaw is a steady yet passionate frontman. Gowan spun his keyboard, pranced about when not providing keyboard support and stood on his stool with his other foot planted on the keyboard for "Come Sail Away". The rhythm section of Ricky Phillips on bass and Todd Sucherman on drums was steady and unassailably in the pocket with the rest of the band. Their vocal harmonies and arrangements were spot-on. Founding member Chuck Panozzo took the stage for a short duet with Gowan on the brand-new "Lost at Sea". Chuck remained on stage for the later classics, including Renegade and Mr. Roboto. Most of the songs we all know rocked: The Grand Illusion, Lady, Fooling Yourself and Blue Collar Man.

They opened with the first song on their new album, "The Fight of Our Lives" and soared later in the set with "Sound The Alarm". The uplift it provided was only boosted by the rest of the songs. Also onstage with an electric guitar was Will Evankovich, who co-wrote a lot of the material from 2017's The Mission and this year's Crash of the Crown. He was curiously underused here, as the group did not play any songs that would have benefited from another set of strings. "The Red Storm", "Our Wonderful Lives" or even "Boat on a River" come to mind.

Which leads to my only quibble: The set was way too short. REO Speedwagon, the opener, played for at least ninety minutes; Styx performed for a little over an hour. They have such a great body of work and energy to spare - why didn't they play a few more songs tonight?

As always Styx was phenomenal. Celebrity theater doesn’t have a bad seat in the house. They haven’t lost a step. They still sound like they did in the seventies. Great stage show and fan friendly. They reach out to the crowd and fist bump high five. Each song takes you back when rock was rock. Phoenix loves Styx so much they sell out back to back shows every time. Going to the second show tonight. If you get a chance to see them don’t miss it. They are the best.

What an amazing show! The opening act for United We Rock was Don Felder and wow! He sounded great and he played all of the Eagles massive hits.

Then Styx came out and the crowd went nuts! They started off with their new hit song "Gone, Gone, Gone" and their set just kept getting better as they went on! I've seen several Styx shows and each time I cant imagine they getting better, but they do! Tommy Shaw apologized that he had had a cold, but honestly, you couldn't prove it by me. His voice was just as strong and true as ever! The applause was thunderous when they ended and they came out for an encore of the best version I've ever heard of "Paradise Theater"and their signature end of show "Renegade".

The last was REO Speedwagon. They were wonderful as well. I am a massive Styx fan so I didn't know as many of REO's songs I did enjoy it very much.

The only thing I would have changed was that Styx would have been the headliner. People seemed to be leaving a third of the way through REO's set. Of course it could have been that the concert was on a Tuesday night and I'm sure not everyone was able to take the next day off and it did take almost 30 minutes to get out of the parking lot.

All in all this was an epic show and I will certainly attend more Styx shows!

BETHEL – Bethel Woods Center for the Arts has announced a complete preview of its 2024 lineup of concerts, festivals, exhibits and educational programming.

“Every spring we eagerly anticipate the new season, but this year the excitement in the air is palpable. Family Fun For Everyone 

  With the aim of bringing the joy of shared experience and magic of Bethel Woods to its youngest visitors, the monthly Family Concert Series kicks off in June. These pay-what-you-can shows are offered on Saturday mornings, and each performance, which is built to accommodate sensory-needs and be child-friendly, is framed by a pre and post-opportunity for artistic engagement. Presented in collaboration with  Rock & Roll Playhouse , the Family Concert Series will feature music of Taylor Swift, Grateful Dead, The Talking Heads, and Queen. Suggested donations range from $5 to $15 per person.

Build Community: Build Creatively: Build Fest (September 11 – 15, 2024)

BuildFest marks the third year of the Bethel Woods Art & Architecture Festival and invites academics and researchers to propose ideas for large-scale art installations to be built on the historic grounds of the 1969 Woodstock festival. Over the course of a five-day live-work festival, accepted participants will work with self-organized student teams to build, install, and work through on-site design solutions.
