Steel Knee Rail

Steel knee rail, also known as knee beam or trip rail, is a very robust, metallic structure that combines sturdy construction with a glossy, rust-resistant finish. It is ideal for a wide range of applications including car parking facilities, public parks and gardens, commercial properties and urban design. It is a low-level product that deters pedestrians from walking on grass and away from parking areas.

First Fence offers steel knee rails in two options, the KR48 and the KR60. Each format features two flat upright posts ready welded to a tubular top rail with either a 48mm or 60mm diameter. The product is 300mm in height when installed (the total height of the posts is 800mm).

This ready-to-install design means no on-site assembly is required and makes installation relatively swift and hassle-free. There is no mitring needed, and the system easily handles both convex and concave angles without the need for technical skills.

The metal knee rail comes with a green or black polyester powder coating as standard, which gives the knee rail an additional layer of protection from the adverse effects of the weather and temperature.

This low level fencing solution is a dig in format and requires Post Mix for a solid installation. Due to the low height, this is not considered a security product; however, it very efficiently defines perimeters, discourages people from trespassing onto lawn or flower beds and takes care of designated parking areas.

The combination of a robust steel structure and a resilient powder-coated finish minimises the need for ongoing maintenance. Unlike timber knee rails, which require periodic staining or treatment, steel knee rails retain their appearance and functionality with minimal upkeep.

Steel knee rails represent a practical and aesthetically pleasing solution for defining boundaries and managing pedestrian traffic. Their robust construction, low-maintenance requirements, and ease of installation make them a valuable addition to any landscaping or architectural project.

First Fence offers a durable steel knee rail as an alternative to the traditional timber knee rail. Timber knee rail is a very recognisable product that features securely positioned and fastened horizontal rails that are supported by vertical timber posts. Within the product line are top rails in 1.8m and 3.6m widths with a choice of 75mm and 100mm sections. The accompanying timber upright posts come in 0.9m and 1.2m heights.

Additionally, we offer three post strap styles: Bishop's Hat for 100mm rails and v-style or shoe-style for the 75mm rails.

Trip Rail or Birdsmouth Top Fence, a very robust fence often used for marking boundaries in public areas.

The height of the fence and the section of timber used can vary to suit different situations. The straps are nailed or screwed over the top rail where they join in the centre of each post.

T-Slotted Framing Rails

Use this versatile framing to configure machine guards, enclosures, carts, and workstations. These rails have continuous T-slots for attaching fittings. When choosing how many slots you want on your rail, consider how much flexibility you need for your setup and how finished you'd like your structure to appear. The more slots the rail has, the more design flexibility you will have. Keep in mind, open slots can collect dust and debris. Rails with closed sides give you a finished appearance but are more difficult to reconfigure or add components to later. All of these rails are made of aluminum.

Low - profile rails are half the width of double rails. They’re often used to attach handles, sensors, and other accessories.

Radius , angled , and half - round rails give a finished appearance. They are often used to create finished edges or handles on carts.

Double - , triple - , and quad - profile rails are good for large structural applications, such as beams and posts. Typically, the larger the rail profile, the stronger the rail.

Solid rails are stronger than hollow rails. Hollow rails are lighter and more economical than solid rails.

Grooved rails help you align rails when connecting them. They also camouflage dents and marks better than smooth rails but can collect dust and grime. Smooth rails give a finished look. With no indentations to collect dust, they’re easier to clean than grooved rails. However, dents and marks are easier to see.

Rails with tapped , access , and bore holes come already machined, so they're ready to be used with concealed structural brackets to make 90° connections between rails.

Black rails fade into the background and hide dirt and grime. They're good for vision systems where non-reflective material is needed. Yellow rails draw attention and are often used to build machine guards.

Cut - to - length rails can be ordered in increments of 0. 125” or 0. 25 cm.
