The exciting quad safari in Crete takes you from Rethymno into the mountainous landscape of the Greek Mediterranean island. As a driver or co-driver you will experience an adventurous journey over stick and stone through Mediterranean regions and past small, picturesque places away from the tourist strongholds. Of course all vehicles are checked regularly and you will receive a briefing before the start of the tour. You are also welcome to take part in the excursion on your own and join the guide as co-driver. The 4-hour excursion starts either in the morning or in the afternoon with the pick-up at your hotel in northern Crete. You ride uphill and downhill on dirt roads, through imposing gorges and river beds and stop regularly to enjoy the impressive panorama and take beautiful photos. During the quad tour in Crete you will stop at a traditional kafenion, a typical Greek village coffee house. A snack (sandwich) and mineral water are included in the price. In total you will visit 11 to 12 Cretan villages and experience Crete's authentic side during the Quad Safari! The route may vary depending on the experience of the participants. Join the Alumni Association along with Illinois State University Horticulturist Heather Vozzella from the comfort of your home as we go on a tour of the summer flowers seen across the Quad.
Vozzella walks viewers through the types of flowers seen throughout the Quad in the summer, why they are selected, and how the beds are a part of academic programs.
The virtual event is free to attend. Participants can register online now through June 28 at 4:30 p.m.. Questions can be sent to Juliana Nelson, assistant director for Alumni Engagement .
In the days ahead, once registration is completed, guests will receive an email with a link to take the tour at their leisure.
