Meeting Ensiferum back stage was AWESOME !

Great bunch of guys would of like to have chatted to them longer . The show it self and the line up of other bands was Fantastic ! no problems there what so ever . It was well worth the money and time to go see them . The only problem i had and others who had backstage passes was a lack of info on if we leave the venue how do we get back in and to line up at the back entrance or front for the meet and greet .

Ensiferum were great live, fabulous stage presence and crowd interactions. The setlist was pretty solid, but I wished they'd played more from their earlier albums. Septicflesh was also very good, though they somehow lacked in onstage energy.

ENSIFERUM Announces North American Tour With SEPTICFLESH

After almost four years of absence in the States, Finnish folk metallers ENSIFERUM have announced a North American headlining tour, featuring SEPTICFLESH as direct support, with another opening band to be announced soon!

ENSIFERUM bassist Sami Hinkka comments: "It's been way too many years since we rocked with our North American warrior brothers and sisters! So early 2019 we will set sails and head to your shores. And we are not coming alone. We will join forces with a brilliant and ass-kicking bands: SEPTICFLESH and a special guest! What a way to start a new year! This tour will leave its mark on the history of metal! So get your ticket in advance and get ready to mosh with us like there is no tomorrow.

"Oh! And one more thing: on this tour, we have no chance to play in every city that we would want to, so we are doing our best to return to North America for a second time in 2019. Stay tuned and see you soon!"

Following the trek, ENSIFERUM will also make an appearance at the 70000 Tons Of Metal 2019 cruise.

"Two Paths Of Glory" tour dates:

Jan. 05 - Baltimore, MD - Baltimore Soundstage Jan. 06 - New York, NY - Irving Plaza Jan. 07 - Boston, MA - Brighton Music Hall Jan. 08 - Quebec City, QC - Imperial Bell Jan. 09 - Montreal, QC - Corona Theatre Jan. 10 - Toronto, ON - Opera House Jan. 11 - Detroit, MI - Harpo's Jan. 12 - Joliet, IL - The Forge Jan. 13 - Minneapolis, MN - Skyway Theater Jan. 14 - Kansas City, MO - The Riot Room Jan. 15 - Denver, CO - Oriental Theater Jan. 17 - Seattle, WA - El Corazon Jan. 18 - Vancouver, BC - Rickshaw Theatre Jan. 19 - Portland, OR - Hawthorne Theatre Jan. 20 - Oakland, CA - Metro Opera House Jan. 21 - Los Angeles, CA - The Regent Jan. 22 - Mesa, AZ - Club Red Jan. 23 - El Paso, TX - Rockhouse Bar & Grill Jan. 24 - Dallas, TX - Gas Monkey Bar & Grill Jan. 25 - Austin, TX - Come and Take it Live! Jan. 26 - Houston, TX - White Oak Music Hall Jan. 28 - Atlanta, GA - The Masquerade (Hell) Jan. 29 - Tampa, FL - The Orpheum

ENSIFERUM 's seventh album, "Two Paths" , was released in September 2017 via Metal Blade Records . Produced by Anssi Kippo , the disc was recorded on tape, for a true analog experience.

You can't talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of ENSIFERUM , and with "Two Paths" , they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, "Two Paths" is simultaneously the Finnish quintet's most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of "Two Paths" to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks "Don't You Say" and "God Is Dead" .

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of  Ensiferum , and with their latest album, “ Two Paths ,” they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, “ Two Paths”  is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of “ Two Paths”  to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead.”   “Even though  Ensiferum  has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,”  explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought  “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects”  to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both  Two Paths  and its predecessor,  One Man Army .  “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!

Ensiferum Announce New Album “Winter Storm” and Release New Track 'Winter Storm Vigilantes'

Ensiferum Announce New Album “Winter Storm” and Release New Track 'Winter Storm Vigilantes'

Folk-inspired Melodic Death Metal band Ensiferum have announced their new album Winter Storm will be released on October 18th via Metal Blade Records .

The album is a follow up to their 2020 album " Thalassic. " The band also announced a new video will be released on June 18th.

The Finnish folk-metal melodeath sensation has maintained a prolific release schedule since their first demo in 1997, gradually increasing in stature until eighth album Thalassic crowned their ascent in 2020. The nautical opus went on to top Finland's album chart, reaching #3 in Germany, and top ten in Switzerland, Canada, and the United States. Eventually, ENSIFERUM would take Thalassic on two massive world tours and to festivals like Wacken, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, and Ragnarök, but the global Covid pandemic ensured that the four-year wait for Winter Storm would be the longest in the band's near-thirty-year history. Much of the new material emerged in the lockdown era, when ENSIFERUM 's founding guitarist Markus Toivonen set himself the challenge of finding new ways to make music -- eventually composing every song except the rousing, anthemic " Fatherland ," written by bassist Sami Hinkka. The addition of singer/organist Pekka Montin's crystal-clear melodic high notes provided a tremendous boost on Thalassic . But on Winter Storm -- a fantasy concept narrative penned by Hinkka -- Montin's super-strong voice finds its optimal place in ENSIFERUM 's sound. Bringing to life such grandiose, heroic material, the singer emerges as one of the greatest vocal discoveries of the decade.

Check out the new single ' Winter Storm Vigilantes ' below.

"The way I see it, this album is more like a 'musical' than a traditional album ," says Hinkka. " The lyrics of Winter Storm are based on part of my unpublished fantasy book. One day it will be out… I don't want to reveal the plot or details too much but 'Winter Storm Vigilantes' and 'Fatherland' tell of two factions in this long tale. The Vigilantes have gained knowledge to utilize certain rare elements, and even though there was already magic in this world, with this new epiphany they have reached a completely new level. This element seems to interact with living things in a way that even the wisest men don't completely understand. And through generations of trial and error, they have refined a skill to expose their horses to the element and managed to break the law of gravity, making their steeds fly. But they became ruthless and greedy on their quest to gain more of this element. A small tribe in the north keep on fighting for their land, which the Vigilantes plan to take over. These North Folks will literally fight until the last man… " Other characters include a Vigilante castaway, the last shaman of the North Folk, and a mysterious widow. The album ends with a great battle against the Vigilantes and the unholy alliance of the castaway and the North Folk shaman, who has transcended into a spirit wolf. Who will prevail? Will this be the final battle of the book? Time will tell… I understand that all this sounds very far out -- well, it is a fantasy book -- but believe me, it will be truly an epic story! " Adds Hinkka of ENSIFERUM 's first single from the offering, " Winter Storm Vigilantes ," " Markus had quite grandeur visions of the song and it turned out to be even more heroic than we expected. It was an obvious choice to open the new album. This epic song serves as one faction of the big story. The song pushes forward with the might of a thousand horses and will surely be a great song in the future setlist ."

Arsenal Chief Commercial Officer, Juliet Slot, joined ABBYY CEO Ulf Persson at a special event hosted at the UK Deputy Head of Mission’s residence in Washington D.C. on Sunday as part of Arsenal Women’s first-ever pre-season tour.

The event featured a panel focused on the growth and viability of women’s sport, moderated by presenter Christine Cupo.

Arsenal Women’s first-ever pre-season tour in the United States comes after a season of growth which saw the team set three new WSL attendance records, and achieve back-to-back WSL sell outs of Emirates Stadium. In May, we announced 11 women’s matches would be coming to N5 next season , making the Emirates our new main home of women’s football.

Speaking after the event and our 2-1 win against Washington Spirit at Audi Field, Juliet Slot said , “our women’s team’s first pre-season tour here in the US is another step forward for our club, the next chapter in our 37-year story.

“We’ve seen extraordinary growth in recent years across the game. Last season, our average attendance was up 93% on 2022/23 across all our home games, and 11% up across our Emirates matches.

“We’ve got to this point by testing and learning to adapt to a new, growing audience for the women’s game, and by an unwavering commitment at all levels across the club to keep moving the game forward.

“We’re here in Washington to continue this journey, to connect with more supporters of the women’s game around the world, and give ourselves the best possible preparation for another season of progress with Emirates Stadium as our team’s new main home.”

ABBYY, a leader in purpose-built AI, became Arsenal Women’s Official Intelligent Automation Partner nearly a year ago. Ulf Persson said, “It was a privilege to be part of this event celebrating the growth of women’s football.

“ABBYY’s partnership with Arsenal Women reflects our commitment to diversity, innovation, and empowerment both on the pitch and in the workplace. We are proud to contribute to the global momentum of women’s football, showcased by events like Arsenal Women’s U.S. tour.”

“The first year of partnership has exceeded our expectations, with a strong rise in fan attendance, player collaborations, and a thriving community. We are keen to further explore how AI technology can help advance the women’s game”.

Kamala Harris, Hoping to Build Momentum, Plans Battleground State Tour Next Week

After accepting the nomination, Ms. Harris was flying back to Washington on Friday for a weekend respite before returning to the campaign trail next week.

Reid J. Epstein and Katie Rogers cover the Kamala Harris presidential campaign. They reported from Chicago.

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign for president is entering a new phase, shifting from a 33-day sprint to the convention to something more familiar: Preparing for a debate and pivoting to getting out the vote.

On Friday afternoon, Ms. Harris plans to fly back from Chicago to Washington, where she will spend the weekend decompressing from the mind-spinning turn of events that led to her accepting the Democratic nomination for president on Thursday night.

She will begin preparing for what will be her first national interview — which she has said will take place by the end of August — and for the Sept. 10 debate with Donald J. Trump, according to campaign officials briefed on her plans who were not authorized to reveal them before they are formally announced.

The officials said Ms. Harris will return to the campaign trail next week with events in multiple battleground states, where she will aim to extend the enthusiasm generated at this week’s convention in Chicago.

Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, her running mate who was plucked from relative political obscurity 17 days ago, will return to his state before heading back on the campaign trail next week.

Presidential candidates typically come out of their conventions trying to build momentum with bus tours or rallies. Ms. Harris’s choice to delay the traditional barnstorming reflects the supercharged pace of the last few weeks and the changed nature of modern campaigns, where social media posts can be as important as speeches. It also is evidence of a shift from a sprint to more of a middle-distance effort that requires endurance and speed in equal measures.

“Campaigns often do barnstorm, but this has been such a compressed schedule for her and she has a debate in 17 days,” said David Axelrod, the veteran Democratic strategist who worked on Barack Obama’s campaigns. “A little downtime and maybe even prep would make sense. As we just saw they have a plethora of first-rate surrogates who can and should be deployed when she is not.”

While Mr. Obama in 2012 left his re-election convention in Charlotte, N.C., for a swing through battleground states including Iowa and Florida — where he was memorably lifted into the air by a pizza proprietor — campaigns today rely less on the local media coverage generated by stumping across the country.

Campaigns now seek to reach voters as much on social media apps as in person, a reality that was evident in how the Democratic National Convention gave status to influencers willing to cheer for Ms. Harris and spread the campaign’s message that was equal to or better than what it gave the traditional press corps at the United Center.

Ms. Harris’s self-imposed deadline for a national interview, next Saturday, presents the next hurdle for Ms. Harris. It will be a break from the rhythm of stadium rallies she has hosted since she named Mr. Walz her running mate.

Mr. Trump does not have a robust campaign schedule in the coming days either.

The Republican nominee sought to divert attention to himself during the Democratic National Convention, holding an event each day in a different battleground state. Mr. Trump plans on Friday to cap the week’s events in Las Vegas and in Arizona, where his campaign has teased a special guest that many expect to be Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suspended his independent campaign for president on Friday and endorsed Mr. Trump.

Mr. Trump is then expected to spend the weekend at his golf club in Sterling, Va., according to two people familiar with his plans. But he does not have any public events scheduled until Monday, when he will address the National Guard Association of the United States in Detroit.

“President Trump will be working nonstop like he always does and doing an interview this weekend, which is one more interview than Kamala has done in 33 days,” said Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump campaign.

Mr. Trump did not remain quiet after his convention. Two days after it ended in Milwaukee, he traveled to Michigan for his first joint rally with his newly crowned running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio.

Danish/Faroese progressive metal outfit IOTUNN will unleash their second full-length album, Kinship , on October 25th through Metal Blade Records.

IOTUNN ‘s Kinship is a massive album arising from the primeval sea. It’s a mythological journey through eight tracks that span immense spheres both musically and lyrically, exploring the deep roots of human nature, its connection and disconnection with everything and everyone, and how our choices have always defined ourselves and the lives lived.

Notes guitarist Jesper Gräs, “ The creation of Kinship has been the most extensive and wild journey we’ve ever been part of. Like trekking up the Galdhøpiggen mountain in Norway, we have crossed peak after peak and seen things continuously brighter and wider until we reached the top, the end. Never have we been prouder and more pleased, and we hope our fans – old and new – will take this album into their hearts and let it unfold from there .”

Set in primeval time, Kinship unfolds the story of a tribesman who is part of a prehistoric tribe. It tells the story of life’s many conditions as themes of unity/disunity, light/dark, body/mind, nature/culture, good/evil, creation/destruction, and human/inhuman unfold throughout the album.

“ Everything is related, everything has an impact, and we all must find our ways to our true selves and true freedoms in our choices in this interconnectedness of everything ,” elaborates vocalist Jón Aldará. “ The album explores themes of conformity versus following your own path and the consequences your choices have for relationships. It is also a consideration of the mind-body connection; especially with regards to how you interact within yourself, how you are influenced and controlled by the arenas of life and the interaction with nature. All this influences your identity, your choices, and your individuality .”

In advance of the record’s release, today the band unveils lead single, “ I Feel The Night .” Comments Jesper Gräs,” ‘I Feel The Night’ is the result of many years searching for a certain kind of song. Big lyrical and musical storylines of songs such as ‘Stairway To Heaven,’ ‘Child In Time,’ and ‘Fade To Black’ – to mention a few – have been at the core of inspiration for IOTUNN and we searched to make our song full of dynamics, feelings, and huge storytelling. This is ‘I Feel The Night.’ Lots of atmosphere and lots of heaviness .”

Adds Jens Nicolai Gräs, “ When Jesper came up with the two core ideas that the entire first half of the song builds on, it was clear that we should make a song with a mellow verse and heavy chorus. I really enjoy the tone in this song. Then, for the last part of the song, it just kept expanding in the creative process but with the final part everything seemed to reach its natural final breath .”
