Elginjock in a recent post said that the CD was Colin Brown. He is an extraordinary CD and one is very fortunate to sail with him. He has been with Silversea since I first sailed with them way back in the 20th century.

Cruise Director the wonderful Colin Brown.

Maitre D’s Ricardo,Rommel, MaryAnn, Yarislav and Raisa.

Hotel Director was new and I think his last name was Arn or Arro?

Oliver who is normally behind the bar on the Whisper was rather surprisingly on the pool bar but I think he will be going back to the Whisper.

Hope this helps

Imo Colin Brown is the best CD at sea with no one in second place.

Totally agree New London Colin is the ultimate professional CD.

I sincerely hope Silversea value him.

We know Colin very well having spent a few cruises with him and his great before dinner recitals.

Hope to be allowed onboard to have dinner on Monday night so if you see 2 strangers wandering around come say hello we don't bite and if you need any info on Belfast please post.

Silversea announces onboard team for its world cruise 2020 plus an unprecedented collection of exclusive experiences.

colin brown cruise director

In addition to announcing the Executive Officers for the Legends of Cruising 2020, Silversea unveils 33 new shore experiences that are exclusive to world-cruising guests.

(Miami, FL -- October 7, 2019) Silversea announces the Executive Officers who will host the cruise line’s World Cruise 2020, the Legends of Cruising—the first world cruise ever to visit all seven continents. The remarkable 140-day voyage aboard Silver Whisper will take guests deeper into the world's authentic beauty, unlocking amazing experiences and destinations between Fort Lauderdale and Amsterdam, from January 6 to May 25, 2020.

A skilled team of maritime, hospitality and entertainment professionals will host the pioneering 62-port journey, which will feature bespoke events, immersive shore experiences, and an array of other enhancements:

Captain (until April 7): Vincent Taillard French-born Captain Taillard started his seagoing service as a deck and engine cadet aboard ferries between France and England in 1996. He attended the French Maritime School in Marseille and has sailed on various ships. He became a captain in 2008 and has sailed to many destinations in his time at the helm. Captain Taillard, an experienced expedition captain, joined Silversea at the end of 2015.

Captain (from April 7): Michele Macarone Palmieri Michele was born in Sorrento, South Italy. In 1987, he joined a passenger ship for the first time with the rank of Second Officer until 1989. Two years later he moved to the position of Chief Officer until 1994 when Silversea Cruises offered him the position of First Officer on Silver Wind . For his second contract, on Silver Cloud , he was promoted to Chief Officer Navigator and since 1998 in the position of Staff Captain. Captain Macarone Palmieri was appointed Master of Silver Cloud in the early 2002.

Hotel Director: Norman Rafelson Norman Rafelson built his career in the hospitality industry and has developed a wealth of experience working around the world. In January 2009 - over a decade ago - Rafelson joined Silversea and has since held the position of Hotel Director on many ships in the ultra-luxury cruise line's fleet. Alongside his responsibilities as Hotel Director, Rafelson was recently appointed as Silversea’s Delegate to the Venetian Society.

Cruise Director: Fernando Barroso de Oliveira Fernando Barroso de Oliveira joined Silversea in 1994 – the same year the cruise line launched – and today holds the invaluable role of Chairman's Ambassador to the Venetian Society, having developed strong relationships with many of the company's guests over the last 25 years. He regularly hosts Silversea's world cruises as Cruise Director.

Expedition Leader (until February 15): Stefan Kredel Stefan Kredel grew up in the south of Germany. After training as a paramedic, he embarked upon several lone cycling trips through India, Nepal, New Zealand and South America. He studied Geology and Palaeontology at the Ludwig Maximillians University in Munich, receiving his Masters degree in 1999. He has been a lecturer aboard expedition cruises since 1998; his first voyage was to Antarctica and since then he has visited the region on several occasions each year.

Expedition Leader (from February 15): Brad Siviour Growing up in South Australia, Brad developed a love for the natural world. He studied at Flinders University, where he gained degrees in both Marine Biology and Ecotourism. Brad has been working on expedition ships for the past two years. He also works as a naturalist, guiding people across Northern Australia and through regions of Southeast Asia. Since then he has developed a keen interest in wildlife photography and is always willing to share hints and tips.

All staff members who will sail aboard Silver Whisper for the Legends of Cruising World Cruise 2020 have been hand-selected to ensure an extraordinary cruise experience for guests. Though not all will be serving the full voyage, those key team members who will be aboard the ship when guests embark on January 6 include:

• Financial Officer: Gabriela Zekan • Staff Captain: Oleksandr Dynega (until February 15), then Dion Notman • Chief Engineer: Konstantin Kolpakov (until February 15), then Giovanni Santafemia • Guest Relations Manager: Marcus Wittman • Onboard Cruise Consultant and Venetian Society Representative: Barrie Dodgson • Shore Concierge: Leandro Ponte • Executive Chef: Jeremic Ratko • Food and Beverage Manager: Oliver D'Souza • Restaurant Manager: Gilbert Lanza • Rooms Division Manager: Royden Pereira

"Silversea’s Legends of Cruising 2020 will be the first ever world cruise to take guests to all seven continents,” says Barbara Muckermann, Silversea’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Such an incredible journey necessitates the presence of an extraordinary team of experienced professionals. Fostering a family-like atmosphere among guests while on board, our industry-leading team will work to ensure an enriching travel experience for our guests, as they travel closer to the authentic beauty of the world."

"I'm honored to be among this fantastic leadership team for this groundbreaking world cruise," says Norman Rafelson, the Hotel Director for the World Cruise 2020. "I'm especially looking forward to reconnecting with my friends in our Venetian Society, and meeting and interacting with new guests to foster a genuine sense of camaraderie on board. This is sure to be a special voyage, indeed!"

THE WORLD CRUISE COLLECTION: EXCLUSIVE NEW SHORE EXPERIENCES

To enrich the experience exclusively for world-cruising guests, Silversea Cruises proudly unveils a collection of 33 brand new, bespoke shore experiences, which can now be reserved only by full world-cruising guests ahead of the Legends of Cruising 2020, with a supplementary fee. Whether showcasing far-off cultures or revealing mysterious monuments and landscapes, each experience is carefully designed to take guests deeper into the world’s authentic beauty.

Travelers can embark on a musical and culinary journey in San Juan hosted by an acclaimed artist; attend a private performance of a world-renowned folkloric ballet troupe in Salvador da Bahia; delve into the Polynesian culture with a celebrated anthropologist in Moorea; savor a four-course lunch, prepared by a celebrity chef, in Singapore; indulge in a candlelight dinner under the stars in the Red Sea desert; marvel at Caravaggio's masterpieces in Rome's churches and museums; and tour the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh with the last-serving admiral, among other special experiences.

“Each bespoke shore experience in our new World Cruise Collection is designed to take world cruising guests deeper into the destination,” says Adria Bono, Silversea’s Senior Director of Destination Experiences. “From an exclusive Evening at the Famous Bloody Mary’s in Bora Bora to a candle-lit dinner in the Red Sea Desert, each experience will offer personal enrichment in the form of cultural discovery and will showcase the unique beauty of the world’s most remarkable destinations.”

Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art Spotlights the Brown and Tan Costume

Deadpool & Wolverine concept art by Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park spotlights Wolverine's brown and tan costume. Prior to this, Marvel Studios President and CCO Kevin Feige touched upon why Deadpool & Wolverine star Hugh Jackman wears the yellow suit in the Merc With a Mouth's newest cinematic outing.

Shared onto Instagram, the first slide sees Wolverine in the brown and tan costume both with and without his mask, while the next two switch between that. In the upload's description, Park avowed, " DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE film concept art I did coming your way in the days to come! LFG! Let's start with WOLVERINE! I got to design the classic brown & tan (John Byrne) costume you saw in the multiverse hoping scene. This was actually the costume I loved the most during my adolescent years so to do the live-action version for this film was a dream come true! "

Deadpool & Wolverine Director Reveals Wild Wolverine Variant Idea That Didn't Make the Cut

Deadpool & Wolverine Director Shawn Levy revealed one wild idea that was almost added to the film, but wasn't included due to time restraints.

Park went on to further note, " I had the honor of leading the Vis Dev team on this film & working with director [Shawn Levy] & star/producer [Ryan Reynolds.] This piece will also be included in the upcoming The Art of Deadpool and Wolverine . "

"I got to design the classic brown & tan (John Byrne) costume you saw in the multiverse hoping scene. This was actually the costume I loved the most during my adolescent years so to do the live-action version for this film was a dream come true!"

Circling back to the yellow suit, Levy delved into why he wanted Hugh Jackman to wear a comic-accurate costume in the project in 2023, professing at the time, "Like the rest of the world, I've waited two decades to see Wolverine in a whole movie with Deadpool, and I don't know if this is our last shot at Wolverine on screen, so I was going to make goddamned sure we get the old yellow and blue just once, and that we get it right." Tying into this, Jackman discussed wearing Wolverine's yellow costume , asserting that it felt right. Ironically, Feige told Jackman not to play Wolverine again because of Logan 's ending.

Deadpool & Wolverine Writers Reveal Scrapped Idea for OG Avengers Reunion Scene

Co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick reveal that Deadpool & Wolverine's creative team scrapped an idea for a scene with the original Avengers.

Only Deadpool Gets to Break the Fourth Wall

Putting the spotlight on Deadpool & Wolverine itself, Reynolds delved into why no one else will break the fourth wall in the project, conveying that one would diminish stakes in the film if everyone was "also aware of the fourth wall or any kind of meta aspect," going on to further note, "Deadpool is the only character who has that ability to do that. If everyone did that, then you would no longer invest in that character as much." Reynolds concluded that he needs people as "invested as humanly possible in every other character," while knowing that only Deadpool is the unreliable narrator.

Deadpool & Wolverine is currently playing in theaters.

Sailed on the Dawn last May and heard Colin the CD had been assigned to another ship. Colin is the best CD I have come across. He has a natural talent for making everyone feel welcome. Just wondering. Does anyone know which ship Colin is on and where will he be assigned come next April? Thanks for the info. ;)

Colin transferred to the Star lines and is somewhere in Asia at the moment, if I remember correctly. He was on the Sun when we were, and I'd love to see him as CD again on a future sailing. Hope he comes back to NCL soon!

I loved Collin as a CD he was the best. I was hoping he was switched to NCL Star which I just booked for April!

Is THAT where she's gone?

Infortunately, Gatsby's on the Dawn is where we enjoyed Pamala on two previous cruises. We would like to see her back there before our January cruise. We don't know where she is but we really miss her.

Hope the lucky passengers on spring break and all those kids on the Easter vacations can appreciate Pamala's considerable talent.

Just realized that Pamala's schedule above was for the past year. She was also scheduled to be on the Jewel during our recent October cruise but that miserable cigar room next to her piano, drove her off the ship (can't say I blame her). Hope she comes back to the Dawn in 2006.

The 38-year old Scotsman is returning as the Cruise Director aboard the Super Star Gemini. The ship does a weekly circuit, visiting heavenly places such as Singapore, the beautiful islands of Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia, exotic islands of Krabi, Ko Samui and Phuket in Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

At the age of 21, Colin started working as an entertainer and holiday representative in Europe, mainly planning games and singing along with the band. He has also cruised down the Nile as a Cruise Director in the Mediterranean for 3 years. Colin has worked in destinations that most people only dream of such as Costa del Sol, Italy, Tenerife, Andalucia, Greece and Mexico.

In November 1999, Colin moved to Star Cruises as Cruise Director, and has been working within the group ever since, displaying his professionalism onboard Super Star Gemini ,Super Star Virgo and previous Star Cruises vessels such as Star Aquarius and Super Star Leo. Colin has also working onboard the Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Dawn under the flagship of NCL. Colin is truly one of the most travelled and skilled Cruise Directors with experiences in the Australasian, Asian, American, Middle Eastern and European markets.

The highlight of the week for Colin is when passengers dress in their glamorous outfits for the Gala Night. Super Star Gemini is his favourite ship as he loves the intimacy and ‘family’ feel that the vessel offers.

I guess he got tierd of resort casual and jeans at dinner :D :D

This pretty little boat was built in Spain in 1992 for Commodore Cruise Lines. Commodore decided against incorporating it into it’s aging fleet, choosing instead to begin the new, upscale, Crown Cruise Line. Almost immediately, the idea foundered, and Commodore found itself soliciting Cunard for advice, a case of the blind leading the blind if ever there was one. Cunard took over the marketing of the line, incorporating it into its own product along with Cunard Countess and Cunard Princess. This too was bound for failure!

Crown Jewel is 19,046 tons. 537 feet long. 74 feet wide with a 17.7 foot draft. She was Liberian registered with Scandinavian/European Officers. She had a Filipino crew. She is diesel powered.

Under Cunard’s control, she sailed as “Cunard Crown Jewel. 1n 1995, she was sold to Asian based Star Cruises, where she is currently sailing as MS SuperStar Gemini.

Crown Jewel, has one twin sister ship, the Crown Dynasty.

Crown Dynasty was built in 1993 for Crown Cruise Line, and spent time on charter to Cunard under the marketing name Cunard Crown Dynasty. For the 1997 season, she was chartered to Majesty Cruise Line and operated cruises as Crown Majesty which had already been arranged for Crown Dynasty, but at the end of that season her charter was passed to Norwegian Cruise Line as the Norwegian Dynasty. At the end of the charter in 1999, she reverted back to being the Crown Dynasty, until sold to Fred Olsen Cruises in 2001 as the Braemar. This year it's cruising the Southern Caribbean with 15 night itineraries with Bridgetown Barbados as its home port.

Pamala Stanley, Anna Y Los Vientos- where are you???

DCC Appoints New Executive Director

by DCC | Jun 21, 2022 | BLOG

Downeast Coastal Conservancy is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Executive Director, Colin Brown. Colin comes to DCC after spending six years with Downeast Lakes Land Trust in Grand Lake Stream, most recently as Development and Outreach Manager, focusing on grant writing and fundraising for the organization.

Before moving to Washington County in 2010, he worked as an environmental educator and naturalist in many corners of New England, and has a passion for connecting people of all ages to the natural world. Colin has a BA in Sociology from the University of Connecticut, and extensive experience working for non-profit organizations.

“We’re thrilled that Colin will be joining our DCC team” said DCC Board President Anne Baker. “His skills and experience add new talents to those of our outstanding staff and create opportunities to further develop our connections to the local community and to other like-minded conservation organizations.”

“It’s an honor to join Downeast Coastal Conservancy as Executive Director,” said Brown. “I’m looking forward to working with DCC members, staff, board, and regional partners on expanding the organization’s conserved lands, improving public access opportunities, protecting critical ecological habitat, and supporting thriving communities in coastal Washington County.”

“Colin has done exceptional work at Downeast Lakes Land Trust, and we’re sorry to say goodbye to a good friend,” said David Montague, President and CEO of Downeast Lakes Land Trust. “However, we know he will excel at DCC, and we’ll all look forward to working with him and the rest of the DCC staff to benefit the Downeast Region through future collaborations.”

Colin lives in Pembroke, on the banks of the Pennamaquan River, with his wife and two young children. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, birding, gardening, playing music, spending time with his family, and anything else that gets him outdoors. He will begin his new position on July 18th.

Grant Hill Adds New Details to Jaylen Brown’s Olympic Snub, Future with Team USA

Thanks to a 32-15 fourth quarter rally for a 95-91 win over Serbia in the semifinals, the United States men’s national basketball team is set to compete in the gold medal game against France on Saturday. It was a victory where Steve Kerr stubbornly doubled down on benching Jayson Tatum against Serbia, a mistake that nearly proved costly.

It's well documented that despite leading the Celtics to a championship this past season, Team USA decided not to add Boston's other star wing, reigning NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, to their Olympic campaign.

Prior to the tournament, Brown voiced his frustration over not being chosen to represent his country in Paris this summer. Celtics teammate Derrick White was chosen to fill the final roster spot, replacing Kawhi Leonard.

As captured by All the Smoke Productions , Grant Hill, the managing director of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team, told Rachel Nichols on Open Run that he reached out to Brown, among other top stars that didn't make the team. Hill felt players of Brown's status deserved to hear from him about that decision and wanted individuals like Brown, Paul George, and Damian Lillard to learn of that choice directly from him.

"I've tried to do this the right way," said Hill. "I called Jaylen Brown... I'm confident he and I will sit down at some point and talk about it."

Hill added that the door is open for the three-time All-Star to represent his country and play for the United States men's basketball team at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

"He'll be a candidate if he wants in '28," stated the managing director of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team.

In 2028, Brown will be 31 years old and entering the final year of his current five year, $304 million deal. With LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant in their mid-to-late 30s, Team USA’s roster figures to have significant holes to fill in four years.
