Vast and dense Jungle, swift activities of animals, and chasing every clue of the predator's presence are the thrills of tiger safaris in these forests. Here is the complete information that you need to complete your Bandhavgarh safari booking.

Jeep Safari in Bandhavgarh National Park

The most popular and considerably the best way to explore the jungle is through the Jeep safari. You will be allocated a Jeep (open-top compact SUV) with a sitting of 6 tourists. It's the best choice as the compactness allows it to get along all tracks in the tiger reserve. Most common Jeep safaris are conducted two times a day. The first safari is in the early morning and the second in the early evening, as the animal movements are maximum in these times. There are also options for a whole-day safari and a night safari. These jeeps will pick you up from your accommodation and after the safari will drop you off on your stays.

Bandhavgarh National Park Safari Timings

Safari zones in bandhavgarh national park.

Bandhavgarh National Park has been divided into two kinds of zones in its total area of 1536 square kilometres. The two zones - The core zones and the Buffer zones are divided according to animal movements; core zones have higher animal movement, especially of the predators, while the Buffer zones have less. You are assigned a specific zone on your entry to the park and you can only be within the boundaries of that specific zone. There are also several distinctive rules in different zones. So let's know more about the different zones and make your wildlife tourism perfect.

Popular Core Safari Zones in Bandhavgarh

The core zones are the main zones of the Jungle with most of the animal movement in it. The conservation of wildlife and natural resources are protected here thus there is no human habitation allowed. Core zones have much limited tourist movements that allow both wildlife to stay ideal and ensure more human safety.

There are three core zones in Bandhavgarh National Park all of which are accessible through Jeep safaris. Out of the three, the Tala and Magadhi core zones are more popular due to high tiger sightings.

Tala Safari Zone Bandhavgarh

Tala is the most popular zone for safari in the whole Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. The highest tiger sightings are reported from this zone. This tiger zone has a major forest area covered with sal trees and grasslands. Rajbhra and Chakradhara are popular meadows ideal for tiger sightings. Along with this, Tala zone has a number of attractions including the most popular and historical Bandhavgarh Fort. It is said that Lord Ram had given this fort to his younger sibling Lakshman as a gift. Tala core zone got its name from the Tala village. The entry gate of Tala is the main gate of the whole Bandhavgarh safari area and the ticket counter is here.

  • Entry Gate: Tala entry point/ Gate number 1
  • Tiger Sighting Chances: High
  • Maximum Number of Vehicles: Morning - 28, Evening - 27
  • Popular Attractions in This Zone : Bandhavgarh Fort, Shesh Shaiya (idol of lord Vishnu), Bari Gufa, Sita mandap, Gopalpur pond, three cave points, etc.

It is about 8-10 km from the entry point of Tala and even shares some territory with the Tala core zone. Apart from the tiger sightings, Magadhi is popular for the Charger Point, named after Charger, who was the most popular tiger that once lived in these territories. Magadhi core area has several man-made water-holes that work as the hotspot of tiger sightings in the summer. Murdhawa, Dabhadol tank, Sookhi Talab, Sookhi dam, Mehman Pond, and others.

Although it has offered fewer tiger sightings compared to the other two core zones, it has abundant wildlife and herbivorous animals such as the migrant wild elephants. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve Safari: Tips for an Exciting Experience

Bandhavgarh Tiger Safari Booking - The Earth Safari

Embarking on a safari adventure in Bandhavgarh National Park is an exhilarating opportunity to witness India's stunning wildlife in its natural habitat. To make the most of your safari experience and increase your chances of spotting the incredible Bengal Tiger and other exotic creatures, consider the following tips:

Choose the Right Season: The best time to visit Bandhavgarh for wildlife viewing is during the dry season, from October to June. The lack of dense vegetation and accessible water sources during this time increase your chances of wildlife encounters.

Book Safaris in Advance: Bandhavgarh can get quite crowded during peak seasons, so it's advisable to secure your Bandhavgarh National Park safari booking and accommodations well in advance. This ensures you have access to the park when you want to go.

Go for Multiple Safaris: One safari may not be enough to spot elusive creatures like tigers. Consider multiple safaris during your stay to increase your chances. Morning and afternoon safaris offer different lighting conditions and animal activity.

Choose an Experienced Guide: A knowledgeable and experienced Bandhavgarh safari guide can make a significant difference in spotting wildlife. They know the park's terrain, animal behavior, and the best locations for sightings.

Silence and Patience: During the safari, maintain silence and patience. Keep noise to a minimum, as sudden loud noises can startle animals and drive them deeper into the forest. Also, wildlife sightings often require patience and a keen eye.

Bring Binoculars and Cameras: Binoculars can help you spot animals at a distance, while a good camera can capture those magical moments. Make sure to bring adequate zoom lenses and a pair of binoculars.

Respect Wildlife and Rules: Always maintain a safe distance from animals, and never attempt to feed or disturb them. Follow the park's rules and guidelines to ensure both your safety and the animals'.

Stay Hydrated and Wear Appropriate Clothing: Bandhavgarh's climate can be hot, so staying hydrated is essential. Wear comfortable, lightweight clothing and don't forget sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses.

Respect the Environment: Leave no trace. Ensure that you don't litter and avoid disturbing the park's delicate ecosystem. Respect nature and fellow travelers.

Enjoy the Whole Experience: While the tiger is the star of the show, don't forget to appreciate the park's diverse flora and fauna. Take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the wilderness for a holistic experience.

By following these tips, you can enhance your Bandhavgarh Jungle Safari experience and create lasting memories of India's incredible wildlife and natural beauty.

Bandhavgarh National Park India rests proudly in the heart of the nation, the  incredible Madhya Pradesh   at an approximate distance of 200 km (124 miles) from the North-East of the city Jabalpur. It is one of the top ten National Parks of India with a great population of tigers. Here, Tala is the nearest village to the park and your gateway to Indian jungle adventure in Bandhavgarh National Park.

How to Get Here?

If you are an international traveler, then, you can catch a flight to Jabalpur after your arrival in Delhi. The same goes for the inland travelers too. If it’s the rail that you prefer, then, the nearest train stations which are Umaria (45 minutes away) and Katni (around 2.5 hours away) will be happy to welcome you. So is your how-to reach Bandhavgarh National Park is solved now?

Introduction

Let’s dive in and get more information about bandhavgarh national park, shall we.

Lakshmi Narasimha

Sighted with great cliffs and eroded rock, this Tiger National Park in India is sparsely covered with dry dusky terrain and amazing woodlands. This splendid royal kingdom-turned-national park is mostly rocky. Once you enter into its premises, you will notice that the whole park is set up around a castle ( approximately 2000 years old) and the caves nearby.

Brace your hearts! The landscape will seem a bit too hard to handle in the beginning, but what is the fun in spotting wildlife without a little adventure, isn’t it?

Nothing is more soothing than the company of Mother Nature and Bandhavgarh jungle has its fair share of it all along in its territory. Drive through the beautiful Sal-tree jungle and spot Bamboo covers on the foothills of the plateau.

Still, don’t expect limitless green carpets but don’t worry, it will be a treat for your senses for sure.

Do you have an impalpable love for tigers? Then, trust us; you will get more than enough of them here. This gorgeous reserve has been a shelter and a breeding ground for them for ages. Maybe, that’s why the species of endemic white tiger find their roots here. Still, Bandhavgarh is not just about tigers. In fact, it’s about the other 22 species of mammals and 250 species of birds too, that takes away the spotlight many times. Have crossovers with Deer, Samba, Langur, Red-Faced Monkeys, Jungle Cats, Bengal Fox, Mongoose, Striped Hyena, Bandicoot Rat, Asiatic Jackal, Wild Boars, Nilgai, Chausingha, Chinkara, Indian Bison and of course, the domestic Elephants. If in case you turn lucky then, the sights of sloth bears and leopards might jollify your trip as well.

So, turn your adventure buttons on because the adrenaline will never slow down here.

Okay! Let us warn you beforehand that Bandhavgarh works in extremes. One time, it can turn you into an absolute Eskimo with its biting cold mornings and evenings in winter.

The other times, it can make you want to ditch all your clothes and stay inside to escape the scorching heat in summer. Even, the monsoons aren’t calm either, that is why we suggest you bring some protection for you and your camera. Who knows? How the weather forecast can change. So, be prepared.

When To Visit

After learning about the climatic conditions of this plush sanctuary, deciding which time to travel here becomes a task. Why? Well, who would like to miss the opportunity of being in the wild with the royalties of the jungle themselves?

Keeping all these details in mind, March and April become the ideal time for tiger tracking. The heat during this time is a little less than its zenith and spotting tigers during this time is easy as they come out frequently to cool themselves.

Other than that, May and June are also good times for tiger sightings but the heat is something you will have to bear. Avoid the time of November – February in winter as the park runs busy and there is no match for the cold.

Disclaimer! Disclaimer! Bandhavgarh remains closed from 1st July to 15th October every year. So, pick your travel time wisely.

Opening Hours And Safari Timings

Bandhavgarh operates twice a day for three hours. It’s just that Its slot ranges from dawn till late mornings and evenings (4 p.m. to be precise) till sundown. So that’s the only information on Bandhavgarh National Park safari timings that you will need.

The staff here is quite imminent in whatever they do, so don’t worry about those perfect pictures you‘ve wanted for an eternity.

BANDHAVGARH ELEPHANT SAFARI

Elephant safaris are the best if you plan on to meet the Royal Bengal Tiger. That is because a tiger doesn’t run away by the sights or even noises of these majestic creatures.

Elephants here will come into your travel picture in the morning for some tiger-tracking. They’ll help you reach as close to the tiger as you want but the rest of the safari you will need to do in the jeep only. Sounds like a plan to us, what about you?

With an area of almost 400 square kilometres, Bandhavgarh National Park is known for its variety of topographical features. These include high ridges, undulating terrain, forests, and open meadows. The varied vegetation of Bandhavgarh National Park ranges from tall grasslands to dense Sal forests. This makes it the ideal habitat for a wide variety of animals and birds. Travelling to this park gives you the opportunity to traverse this national park and witness the magnificent Indian tiger. Also, you can witness seldom-seen creatures like the leopard and sloth bear due to their varied topography.

Types of Safari in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

The finest way to experience wildlife adventure and thrill is to go on a jungle safari in Bandhavgarh National Park. When you do your Bandhavgarh Safari Booking , you should be aware that there are the following types of safaris available:

Jeep Safari:

Jeep Safari is one of the best methods to take in Bandhavgarh National Park’s enthralling wildness. The park is open to wildlife enthusiasts twice a day, in the morning and the evening. 4WD Gypsies are typically preferred for jungle safaris. A trained Guide rides in the jeep with a maximum of 6 passengers to make the trip more informative. The time of sunrise determines the morning safari schedule.

Single Jeep Safari:

You will go with other visitors and a guide in a single Jeep Safari.

Full-day Jeep safari:

In a full-day Jeep safari, you can reserve the entire vehicle for yourself, together with a driver and a guide, and your jeep will arrive at the safari area 15-20 minutes sooner than other cars. You’ll leave for home 15 minutes after the last of the safari cars.

Canter Safari:

Tourists often prefer to go on a wildlife safari in canter automobiles. It can hold up to 12 visitors. The tourist can use it on a first-come, first-served basis. The Magadhi Zone and Khitauli Zone permit camel safaris. Due to its affordability, tourists consistently choose it as the second-best alternative.

Canter Safari | Bandhavgarh Safari Booking

Elephant Safari:

Elephant Safaris are among the most well-liked ways to view wildlife. When you do your Bandhavgarh Safari Booking, make sure you reserve an elephant safari in advance online because it is not always accessible. They are mostly preserved for study, rescue, photography, and not tourism purposes alone. It is difficult for a regular tourist to hire elephants for a safari. For the issuing of a full-day jeep safari, you must obtain approval from the Field Director of Bandhavgarh National Park 7 to 10 days in advance, along with a Demand Draft for the security deposit.

Walk Safaris:

At the buffer zone in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, you can go on a guided Walk Safari with a tour guide. A naturalist and a forest officer will be with you. The greatest people for it are individuals who enjoy getting close to nature.

Bandhavgarh Safari Booking Procedure

On our official website, you can reserve a safari for Bandhavgarh National Park by checking for availability. Alternatively, you could contact us to make a safari reservation. Make reservations in advance if you’ve decided to visit Bandhavgarh National Park. The best time to go on safari varies depending on whether it’s summer or winter. However, park management reserves the right to alter the scheduling of the safari at any time. The park remains closed every March during Holi and every Wednesday evening (just in the core area) for safari.

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

Allowance to a limited number of cars is given to enter the forest in various zones each day. This is done to prevent crowding the forest and upsetting the local flora and animals.

Safari Timings and Prices

Seasonal variations will affect Bandhavgarh National Park hours. Wintertime daylight hours cause the morning entry time to be longer and the evening exit time to be shorter. October to June is the ideal time to go on a wildlife safari in Bandhavgarh National Park. From 15 October to 30 June, the park is open to visitors interested in wildlife.

The park remains closed to visitors in the evening on Wednesdays. India celebrates Holi with a lot of fanfare and spectacle. Both shifts of the remains are closed on this day.

If you don’t want to visit Bandhavgarh National Park during the summer, November to March is the best time to do so because there is a significant probability of seeing tigers there.

How to book your safari for Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve?

Photo of The Rovers Trail

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

Tala Gate Entrance

Photo of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Kila Bandhogarh, Madhya Pradesh, India by The Rovers Trail

Introduction

The Bandhavgarh Reserve is quite famous among nature & wildlife enthusiasts because of the majestic jungles and Tiger sightings. Bandhavgarh is situated in the state of Madhya Pradesh, 165 kms away from Jabalpur & 425 kms away from Nagpur. One can take a flight to Jabalpur or Nagpur and then reach Bandhvagarh through Road. The closest railway station is Umaria which is 25 kms away from the Tiger place.

While planning a vacation to Bandhavgarh, there were lot of questions like how to book the safari? What are their timings? Is taking online permit sufficient or one need any other permits also? How is guide allocated or how is gypsy allocated? How the sharing gypsy works? And lot of other similar questions. Google was my only rescue but unfortunately lot of information was either incomplete or not available. And after the vacation, we thought that this information should be shared so that someone else can easily plan their visit to Bandhavgarh.

Zones of Bandhavgarh

The jungle is divided into six zones:

• Tala ( Gate 1 )

• Magdhi ( Gate 2 )

• Khitauli ( Gate 3 )

• Panpatha Zone

• Dhamokhar Zone

• Johila Zone

The first three zones are the core zones and the last three zones are the buffer zones. Mostly people choose the core zones for safari as they have high density of tigers and the sightings in these zones are regular. But recently we were told that soon the buffer zones are also going to be turned into core zones because the sighting of tigers has increased in the buffer zones.

Out of the total area of the jungle, only 20% is open for Safari visits & rest of the area is untouchable for the tourists. Tala is one the famous core zones & most of the resorts are located in this area.

Booking Process

1. As per your schedule, please book your online permit on the government website :

https://forest.mponline.gov.in/

• When the website open up, choose Bandhavgarh Tigers Reserve from the Tiger Reserve tab.

• Click on Book Now

• You have to choose the permit type :

• Single Seat: If you want to do the safari in sharing, then choose this option. Like we were two of us and we wanted to share the cost of the whole vehicle with others who were visiting the same zone, so we chose Single Seat.

• Full Vehicle: In case you want to keep a vehicle for all yourself, and have the flexibility of exploring the forest on your own pace without somebody’s interruption, you should choose this option. Also if you are visiting with your family and do not want anyone else in your gypsy, then also this option is suitable.

• Choose the date of the safari & press the search button

• This will display availability of the three core zones; you can select the zone and time (morning or evening) you want to visit.

• Complete the login details, share the id proof, and pay the booking the amount and book for the Safari.

2. After reaching Bandhavgarh, depending on what permit type you have chosen, the steps needs to be followed :

• Single Seat - In case of evening safari, you have to reach the Safari Booking office 1.5 hours prior to your safari timings, get your permit verified, they will allocate you a guide & gypsy. Also you will be able to meet the other travelers who will be sharing the gypsy & guide with you. The gypsy & guide will be allocated as per the safari office & you do not hold any choice in the same. If you have booked early morning safari, you will have to complete the above process, a day before in the evening at 7:00 /8:00 PM.

• Full Vehicle - In this case, you can hire a guide of your choice and even a gypsy can be booked prior coming to Bandhavgarh if you have any contacts. Also your guide can block a gypsy for you from someone he knows. Don’t worry, in case you don’t know anyone, you can get yourself a gypsy and guide allocated in the booking office.

3. At the Safari booking office, you need to pay the charges for Guide & gypsy.

4. At the entry gates of the zones, you identity proof is verified, so ensure that you carry the same ID proof which you had provided at the time of online permit.

Points to be noted

• A Gypsy can accommodate 6 persons + 1 Guide + 1 driver in total. Every zone is allowed a total no. of 25 vehicles.

• In case of Single seat, if no other traveler turns up for the allocated seat with you, you would need to pay the complete amount of Gypsy & the guide. It will be as good as having the complete vehicle for yourself.

• In case of Full Vehicle, the gypsy can come & pick you up from your resort as well, if everything is planned in advance.

• The process changes as per the change in the duty officer/forest officer.

• Interestingly, we found the officials at the safari office very friendly and helpful & we visited the tiger reserve in December 2018.

Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, is a fabled location. The old Bandhavgarh Fort is significant because it is said to have been given to Lord Rama's younger brother Lakshmana by Lord Rama to keep an eye on Lanka. As a result, the fort is known as Bandhavgarh, with "Bandhav" meaning "brother" and "Garh" meaning "fort."

Bandhavgarh is a 2000-year-old site with multiple man-made caverns with writings and rock art. Bandhavgarh National Park, once a hunting zone for maharajas, is now home to the regal Bengal tiger, 37 other mammal species, 250 bird species, and 80 butterfly species.

For sightings of large cats, you should visit the Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh. The highest population of Royal Bengal tigers in the world may be found in India's top tiger habitat. It is in Bandhavgarh National Park that all of the world's white tigers live.

Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh was the first in India to offer tourists a 'Hot Air Balloon Safari.' You may now witness Bandhavgarh National Park's hidden beauties at their most beautiful. Aerial views of the limited buffer zone and the core zone will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for safari enthusiasts.

The glimpse of a majestic tiger up close and personal is claimed to elicit a sense of awe similar to that which you would have had as a child.

Explore how you can make a Bandhavgarh Booking and learn about the perks of this amazing national park as you read on.

Best Time To Visit Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

From the 15th of October to the 30th of June, Bandhavgarh National Park is open to visitors. The ideal season for exploring this wildlife getaway is the lovely weather of winters, which is nestled in the midst of India, Madhya Pradesh. The months of October through March are the busiest for visitors.

The optimum time to visit Bandhavgarh National Park depends on the purpose for which visitors are visiting the sanctuary. If you want to see different bird species, the months of October through January are the best. Keep an eye out for feathery species in the forest's verdant surroundings, since many of them are migrating this time of year. Early summer months, April, May, and June, are considered the finest months for wildlife and tiger photography. Expect uncommon tiger pictures during this time, as the heat pushes animals to congregate near water sources. Avoid going on a safari during the summer since the heat is unpleasant.

Safari Timing in Bandhavgarh National Park

Tala, Magadhi, Khitauli, and Panpatha are the four major divisions or zones of the park. Tourists can enjoy a jeep or canter safari at Bandhavgarh National Park within a certain time frame. Depending on the season, safari entry and exit schedules may vary. Jeeps transporting tourist groups or individuals, as well as naturalists, are permitted to enter the park. In the winter, the morning entering time is extended and the afternoon leaving time is shortened.

From 15th October to 15th February, one can go on a morning safari from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or an evening safari from 14:30 a.m. to 17:30 a.m. From February 16th to March 31st, the safari shift times are 06:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (morning) and 15:00 a.m. to 18:00 a.m. (Evening). Bandhavgarh National Park Safari Zones

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is divided into three zones: Tala Zone, Magadhi Zone, and Khitalui Zone.

Safari Zone & Entry Gate

Tala Zone is one of Bandhavgarh's oldest and most scenic safari zones, as well as one of the finest for Tiger Sightings. Badi Gufa, Siddha Baba, Chakradhara, Ketkiha, Sita Mandap, and Three Cave Point are some of the most prominent attractions to visit in the Tala zones.

Magadhi Zone is a lovely place with lush grassland and deep woodland. The Tala zone borders the Magadhi zone (in the southeast area). Magadhi, like the Tala zone, is recognized for good Tiger Sightings. Tigers with territories in the Tala zone share territories in the Magadhi zone as well.

Khitauli Zone is a forest area in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve's western region. The Khitauli forest zone will be on your left, while the Magadhi and Tala forest zones will be on your right. Birding and herbivore animal sightings are very popular in the Khitauli zone.

Bandhavgarh Gypsy Booking

During park safari drives, all tourists must bring their original identity verification document, which will be checked at the entrance gate. Tickets for the safari are non-transferable. Each jeep trip in Bandhavgarh National Park requires the services of a guide. Safaris are conducted on open safari Maruti Gypsy and canter at this location. A Bandhavgarh safari car can hold a maximum of 06 persons, whereas a safari canter vehicle can hold up to 18 guests.

In a day, there are two safari rounds: morning safari and afternoon safari. Morning safaris normally start 30 minutes before sunrise, so visitors must get up early to make it to the entrance gate on time. During your safari, Every vehicle's documents will be properly verified, matched, and only then will it be allowed to enter the park. Jeep usually arrives in a resort where tourists are staying to begin Jeep Safaris. Mobile phones are not permitted on the safari, however, travelers are permitted to bring cameras and video cameras.

Hotels & Resorts at Bandhavgarh National Park

The park at Bandhavgarh is surrounded by a variety of lodges and resorts. Because the park has one of the largest densities of tigers in the country, you'll have a good chance of seeing one. The scenery changes, from moist meadows and towering Sal trees to mild rivers meandering through woodlands, due to the geography. The Bandhavgarh National Park lodge you are assigned depends on your Bandhavgarh National Park zone.

This jungle lodge is the pinnacle of isolation in the wild, located on the outskirts of the Bandhavgarh tiger reserve. The property is dotted with a number of attractive cottages, each large enough to have a private sit-out, an open-to-sky courtyard with a rain shower, and a private deck, all of which contrast with the jungle's harshness. When you just want to rest indoors, there are also library bars and lounges. The cooks will be pleased to prepare a meal for you or arrange for a private supper outside, and the meals are a combination of Indian and other cuisines.

The Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve office or the Bandhavgarh National Park Permit Booking Website can help you make reservations for these rooms.

Find out more Informations Regarding Full Day  Safari Booking Bandhavgarh  National Park

Full–day safari timing, full day safari timing bandhavgarh.

The safari operates from dawn to dusk, providing tourists with a comprehensive experience throughout the day. Notably, the entry timings deviate slightly from the standard schedule, allowing visitors to enter fifteen minutes earlier than usual and stay fifteen minutes later than the regular safari timings. This adjustment aims to enhance the overall safari experience by extending the time available for exploration and wildlife observation.

Furthermore, tourists have the flexibility to exit the park at their discretion. This feature adds a level of convenience, enabling visitors to conclude their safari whenever they feel ready, accommodating varying preferences and schedules. Overall, this safari structure is designed to offer both extended access and personalized control, ensuring an enriched and adaptable experience for all participants.

Full–Day Safari Permission

One has to write latter to field Director of  Bandhavgarh  for permission. You have to send the application for  full   day   safari  along with a draft of Rupees ten thousand as security money as well as the fees of  full – day   safari  permit. The FD office is situated in Umaria Township nearby.

Full–Day Safari Zones

Full-day safaris offer the advantage of unrestricted access to various tourism zones throughout the day, providing participants with the flexibility to explore different areas at their discretion. This means that visitors are not confined to a specific tourism zone and can freely cross over from one zone to another as they wish.

However, it’s important to note that while the full-day safari allows for this flexibility, there are still limits in place to ensure responsible tourism. Participants are not permitted to breach the designated tourism zone limits. This restriction is in place to maintain the ecological balance, protect wildlife habitats, and uphold conservation efforts.

A noteworthy feature: If entering from the Tala zone, a seamless transition to the Magdhi zone is allowed, and vice versa. However, access to the Khituli zone requires exiting from either the Tala or Magdhi zones, as Khituli is not directly connected to Magdhi and Tala. This strategic approach to zone access enhances the overall safari experience, providing a carefully curated adventure for nature enthusiasts.

Getting Refund

This amount is refunded once the visitor has submitted a set of images/video pertaining to that  safari . A charge fixed by the department is to be paid for the  safari  which is higher than the regular visit. Charges for Foreigners and Indians are the same.

Seating Limit on Jeep

The full-day safari experience has certain limitations to ensure a controlled and responsible exploration of the wildlife areas. In this context, only four tourists or photographers are permitted to participate in the full-day safari, accompanied by a guide and a driver. This limited group size helps minimize the impact on the environment and wildlife, promoting a more intimate and less disruptive experience.

It’s noteworthy that despite the extended duration and exclusivity of the full-day safari, all regulations pertaining to the jeep safari remain consistent with the regular permit guidelines. These regulations likely include rules about maintaining a safe distance from animals, respecting designated paths, and adhering to specific hours of operation. By maintaining uniform regulations, authorities aim to ensure the conservation of the ecosystem and the well-being of the wildlife while providing participants with an extended and immersive safari experience.

Verifications at Booking Office

To secure entry for the safari, interested individuals must visit the Safari booking office located at the entrance gate of the reserve. Here, they will need to complete the necessary formalities, and upon successful completion, the entry for the specified date is confirmed. The subsequent step involves hiring a registered jeep through the association affiliated with the reserve.

On the day of the safari, a guide is provided at the entrance gate, where visitors must submit their entry pass for verification. Once this process is completed, participants are prepared for the safari adventure. Additionally, if desired, individuals can opt to hire a naturalist guide to enhance their experience.

It is essential for safari-goers to be well-prepared by carrying water, breakfast, and lunch. Cups and plates should also be included in the provisions. Importantly, participants are reminded to bring back all leftovers, as disposing of them at designated eating areas is not allowed. Furthermore, the guidelines strictly prohibit alcohol and smoking during the safari to maintain a respectful and eco-friendly environment. Adhering to these instructions contributes to the overall preservation of the reserve’s ecosystem and ensures a responsible and enjoyable safari experience.

Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh which in Sanskrit means Brother’s Fort is one of prime national parks of India, located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. The name of the park originates from the most renowned hillock of the locale, which was said to be given by Hindu Lord Rama to his brother ”Lakshmana” to keep an eye on Lanka. Bandhavgarh, with an area spread around 105 km 2  was declared a national park in the year 1968 and later on became a Tiger Reserve in 1993. The existing core region is spread over 716 km 2 . The buffer region is spread over the forest divisions of Umaria and Katni, and totals 820 km 2 .

This park has a wide range of biodiversity. The density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh (8 Tiger per square km) is one of the highest known in India. The park has a huge breeding population of leopards, and various species of deer.

The Maharaja Martand Singh of Rewa captured the first white tiger in this region in 1951. This white tiger, Mohan, is now stuffed and on display in the palace of the Maharajas of Rewa.

Safari Zones in Bandhavgarh

Tala Zone: It is the oldest safari zone of Bandhavgarh and thus often considered as tantamount to Bandhavgarh National Park. Till year 2010, there was only one safari zone in Bandhavgarh, i.e. Tala zone and thus it created a unique impression in mind of wildlife lovers. Its name “Tala” is derived from a local village called Tala Village. Earlier it was a small village, located on the main road, connecting Umaria town to Manpur town-ship.

When Bandhavgarh village was not popular i.e. in early 90’s, Tala was unknown to the world but later with the gaining of popularity in wildlife tourism map of world, Tala village became an important landmark, referring to Bandhavgarh National Park.

As Tala was the oldest safari zone thus all the major Forest Department establishments like their office, ticket counter, interpretation center, police station etc. were established in Tala village, close to Tala entrance gate. Even now a-days, you will find a major gathering of people in this entrance gate. Famous Bandhavgarh Fort, Shesh Shaiya statue, origin  of Charanganga river is also in Tala zone. In comparison to all three core zones, the Tala zone is still very beautiful, photogenic and more green.

Safari Zones, cont.

Magadhi Zone:   is the core zone forest area of Bandhavgarh tiger reserve. It is just adjoining the Tala zone in the south-east forest of tiger reserve area. It is also referred to as Gate No. 2. After many years since the opening of Tala zone, Magadhi zone was opened for tourists to share the tourism burden of Tala zone and also to offer new forest area exposure to wildlife lovers, visiting Bandhavgarh. Just like Tala zone, Magadhi zone is also a popular core zone area thus tourists love to see this forest area. Famous Charger point of Bandhavgarh is also located in this zone.

Khitauli Zone:  came into existence after the year 2010. Before the year 2010, there was only one safari zone called Tala zone thus it is most popular among visitors. Khitauli and Magadhi zones were created later on due to which they are less popular in comparison to Tala zone. With the passage of time, they also gained popularity and now all 3 core zones, attractions majority of tourists, visiting Bandhavgarh tiger reserve. Khitauli zone is well known for Birding and herbivores animals sighting. Here prominently seen mammal species are Leopard, Nilgai, Spotted Deer, Wild Dog (Dholes). Regarding tiger sightings, which is undoubtedly the prime attraction among visitors, here summers are good in which tiger sightings go good. During peak summers, probability of tiger sightings increases which is evident from incidences in which local people have even seen tigers from main Umaria – Tala road as some marshy lands are adjacent to the road.
