Witch Classes

Before getting into the actual witches, the witch classes will be defined. In EP 4 we are given certain classes and which of the current witches fall into said category.

  • Finite Witches – Witches with limitations on their power. Sometimes they remain finite because they have not achieved the level of infinite magic – other times they choose to remain finite, fearing not limitation.
  • Infinite Witches – Witches with no limits on their powers or abilities. Endless Witches are an example of this class.
  • Voyager Witches – Similar to infinite witches, the only difference is that they have the power to leave and enter different domains and travel between millions upon billions of different parallel kakeras. They are also considered the most powerful class of witch and most of them were born/created as voyagers rather than becoming voyagers over time. The only class that rivals their power are:
  • Creator Witches – Witches with the power to create something from nothing (0 to 1). Many voyager witches have the potential to become creator witches, but almost fear becoming one and hold off on it. Creators are only second to Gods and the most powerful creators can go on to make entire galaxies with their power, if they are well trained.

There are also lower positions to witches, such as magician class or summoner class.

Title(s): Golden Witch, Endless Witch

Class: Infinite Witch

Current position: Game Master

Overview: The series main antagonist, Beatrice is the Endless Witch who has lived for over a thousand years. Many years after the Kanto Earthquake of 1924, which wiped out all of the Ushiromiya family but one, she was summoned by Kinzo and contracted to give him gold in exchange for his soul. However he had fallen in love with Beatrice’s beauty and imprisoned her on Rokkenjima, keeping her captive so he could be with her. Beatrice soon escaped by committing suicide and being free from her human form, but was soon captured again. This time she was imprisoned in a homunculus made to look like her and had her memories erased, including those of her being a witch. In 1967 she was freed yet again when she fell off the cliffs of Rokkenjima while being led out of the forest by a young Rosa.

But her freedom was not truly freedom. Although Beatrice was freed from her shell and was no longer under Kinzo’s reign she was still trapped on the island due to her diminished power, partly because of the mirror in the Shinto shrine. In 1984 however, she had made a deal with Shannon, which ended up with the mirror breaking into pieces. Yet even that wasn’t enough – she still needed more power in order to leave the island and be free. So she started a game with Kinzo for her revival ceremony. This game takes place on Rokkenjima in 1986, during the annual family conference. If nobody on the island can solve the epitaph before the end of October 5th Beatrice is the victor and can revive.

However this ceremony leads to her battle with Battler, the only one of the first surviving four on the 10th twilight who did not believe in her existence, which is the current setting of the game.

If there more to her than we are being told though?

Title(s): Previous Endless Witch

Class: Finite Witch

Current Position: Assistant to Beatrice

Overview: The previous Endless Witch before Beatrice and her teacher. According to the game Virgilia was originally named ‘Beatrice’ herself and began the tradition of passing down the name ‘Beatrice’, giving her disciple the name. Unlike the childish demeanor her pupil has, Virgilia is a calm and mature motherly figure, wanting to take care of Beatrice and help her gain freedom from Kinzo’s clutches. However, Beatrice has to learn her stupendous troll skills from somewhere right? At the end of the third game Virgilia is revealed to be in cohorts with Beatrice, only pretending to side with Battler. Her true motivations aren’t completely known, but regardless of her trolling she seems to be a kind figure – even assisting Beatrice with creating Sakutaro’s humanoid form.

Eva-Beatrice (EVA)

Title(s): Endless Witch, Golden Witch, Head of the Ushiromiya family (EP 3)

Current Position: Destroyed by Beatrice at the end of the 3rd game

Overview: A malevolent being living inside Eva since the woman was merely a teenager, when Eva solved the riddle and found the gold she was crowned the Ushiromiya head by Beatrice and given the titles Endless and Golden Witch. Although the younger version of Eva herself is very immature she also is a form holding all of Eva’s repressed anger to the family for not accepting her. Deciding that as the head of the family all the other members belong to her to do what she wishes Eva-Beatrice continues the resurrection ritual, but rather than making a mystery out of it such as Beatrice had Eva-Beatrice kills strictly because she enjoys it.

At the end of Banquet of the Golden Witch she is revealed to be merely a decoy witch, which Beato allowed to be created after Eva solved the riddle. Beato allowed Eva-Beatrice to her own devices and ultimately destroyed her.

Ange-Beatrice

Title(s): Endless Witch

Class: Infinite Witch, Golden Witch, Head of the Ushiromiya family (EP 4)

Current Position: Assisting Battler

Overview: Ange-Beatrice, known as ‘the last Beatrice’, is a piece thrown into the game by Bernkastel, in order to help Battler and destroy the insidious game that has been trapping her family endlessly. Ange herself is not extremely powerful in magic, but that’s only because she stopped practicing it. She was once a member of the Mariage Sociere, but was thrown out of the alliance after she denied the existence of Sakutaro and the Stakes of Purgatory as a young child.

Ange-Beatrice resides in 1998, trying to unravel the mysteries of Rokkenjima from the future and find the truth that has eluded her for 12 years. At the same time she is avoiding her crazy aunt, Kasumi Sumadera, who surely doesn’t have good intentions for her.

5406675

Titles(s): Witch of Origins

Class: Creator

Current Position: Unknown

Overview: Although she is still only an apprentice witch MARIA has a natural talent for magic and is quickly able to learn and create her own spells, even going as far as to create a soul for Sakutaro despite the fact that she is still training. With this magical power to create something from nothing, MARIA has been dubbed the Witch of Origins by her mentor Beatrice.

As a creator class MARIA has the potential to become an amazing witch in the future, even being able to trump powerful witches such as Bernkastel and Lambdadelta. Being a member of the Mariage Sociere, along with Beato, she has the power to summon furniture involved in the alliance. This furniture includes both the Stakes of Purgatory and even the Siesta Sisters. Despite holding the same staff as Eva-Beatrice, MARIA is not an Endless Witch successor herself.

Frederica Bernkastel

Title(s): Witch of Miracles

Class: Voyager

Overview: Dubbing herself as ‘The Cruelest Witch in the World’ Bernkastel wishes to thwart Beatrice’s game, taking pity on Battler. Her power is the ability to create a miracle, as long as the possibility of that miracle does not equal zero. She rarely uses this power though, saying a miracle is only a miracle when it shouldn’t happen. Although she had been supporting Battler from the sidelines, she realized doing such wasn’t enough. So to given assurance to her victory she put an 18 year old Ange Ushiromiya (coming from the third game) into Meta-World, in order to help Battler.

However, she also tricked this same Ange by telling her that there would be a chance that she would get her family back. Although she didn’t lie she didn’t tell the whole truth – in reality the Ange that would get her family back would be the Ange from the fourth game world, whereas the Ange from the third game world (Ange-Beatrice) never had even the slightest chance of getting her family back into the third world.

2679627

Lambdadelta

Titles(s): Witch of Certainty

Overview: The previous “Most Powerful Witch in the Universe”, before the start of Umineko Lambda was defeated by Bernkastel in a different game (implied to be Higurashi, but it isn’t completely affirmed) before coming to watch Beatrice’s game and how it unfolds. Even though Beatrice is the game master, Lambda appears to be the one pulling the strings from behind the scenes. Her goal is to keep the game going on for all eternity, in order to keep Bernkastel trapped in a bird cage once more.

Lambda’s power is the power of certainty – to kill and make anything happen with 100% certainty. However the power depends on the wish: for example if someone wished they had the will to pass a test she could grant that certainty. But if the will to pass that test waivered then Lambda’s power to help that person would diminish. If they would just wish to pass the test then they would instantly as long as they take the test. Compared to Bernkastel’s power, Lambda’s is far more kinder.

voyager umineko

Title: Badass Grandpa

Class: Summoner

Current Position: Head of the Ushiromiya Family

Overview: Not exactly a witch per se, but is still put into this category. Goldsmith and Kinzo Ushiromiya are the same people, however Goldsmith is the title Kinzo uses when referring to himself as a summoner (also going by Lord Goldsmith). Although he lacks magical power of his own, due to the interference of his black blood (passed onto Battler), he makes up for it in his will and studies. Thanks to his efforts he became quite talented in the art of summoning demons and witches and able to summon Beatrice to make a contract to receive ten tons of gold.

He is the primary antagonist in the 4th arc and is seen through the magical illusions to be the main mastermind in the killings of his family and workers. However he soon meets his own demise when destroyed by Beatrice in her anger. But he still lives on through OH DESIREEE

voyager umineko

The Black Witch

Title: None

Class: Witch

Current Position: None

Overview: The Black Witch is a magical being with no form. If someone becomes angry at you, does something cruel to you or perhaps lives their life in hatred, you can say that the Black Witch is standing by that person’s shoulder, manipulating their feelings. Feelings of anger and hatred ultimately are considered to be ‘black magic’ and can not only wound the person afflicted by it, but also the person using it. Whether they realize it or not. However you shouldn’t be angry at the person manipulated – if anything you should pity them for giving into the witch and try to help them. Not that it will be easy.

In the series, the Black Witch is given the personification of Eva-Beatrice. However, it should be made clear Evatrice herself is NOT the Black Witch – the witch appears in the form of the person the viewer hates the most. Therefore, because Ange has always hated Eva the most she sees the Black Witch as Eva-Beatrice, while for Maria the Black Witch always appeared as Rosa when the mother was acting cruelly towards her daughter.

She is apparently destroyed by Ange, but it is most likely such a thing never happened. For as long as anger and hate exist, so will the Black Witch. In that sense you can say she is immortal through all.

oh good drescrption. I like the most Beatrice one with dates. This is a great help to understand all

Compared to Bernkastel’s power, Lambda’s is far more kinder.

Interesting. I’m curious to hear why you think Lamda’s power is more kinder. It almost sounds like the mirror opposite of Bernkastel’s powers.

' src=

Lambda’s power has a guarantee. It’s certain that the result will happen.

Miracles never have a guarantee. A miracle is ONLY a miracle when it doesn’t occur, because of how rare it is. Bern says the probability of a miracle isn’t 0 she can make it happen, but even that 1% chance doesn’t mean the miracle will occur.

That’s how the powers differ. Lambda gives you a guarantee, a promise of sorts, that whatever you wish for WILL happen. Bern can’t make any promises, because there is no guarantee a miracle will occur.

07th Expansion is a series of visual novels, manga, and audio drama CDs, created by Ryukishi07 and 07th Expansion. There are 3 main entries which together comprise the When They Cry (no Naku Koro Ni) series: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, and Ciconia no Naku Koro Ni; and multiple tie-in entries that expand on the world and cosmology of the setting.

The genres vary greatly from horror and murder-mystery to science-fiction and comedy-harem.

  • Higurashi - When They Cry|Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni
  • Umineko no Naku Koro ni

Higurashi takes place in 1983, in the small town of Hinamizawa. Keiichi Maebara moves to the town, befriending his classmates. The village appears to be simple, peaceful, and quiet - however, this ends after the annual Watanagashi Festival, a celebration to give thanks to the local god, Oyashiro. Keiichi that every year for the past four years, one person has been murdered and another has gone missing on the evening of the Watanagashi Festival, and is soon drawn into the strange events surrounding the Festival.

Umineko takes place in 1986, during the timeframe of October 4th and October 5th. It starts off on the island of Rokkenjima, owned by the eccentric business Kinzo Ushiromiya. There, the family conference for the Ushiromiya family is taking place, where it will be decided who will get the nearly dead Kinzo's inheritance. However, a typhoon traps the family members on the island, and over the night, strange things start to happen and people start dying.

Ciconia takes place in the 22nd century, 100 years after the end of World War 3. Cutting-edge technology saved the planet from a nuclear winter, allowing its population to reach the tens of billions once more. This eventually gave rise to a new ultimate military technology, the Gauntlet. People who wore these on their left arms were called Gauntlet Knights, and without carrying any additional equipment, they could use this unrivaled power to fly like fighter planes, fight like aircraft carriers and battleships, and repel all sorts of attacks like tanks.

When three worlds become one, Alice will awaken.

Marie is trapped in a horrible situation. She's being constantly tormented by her classmates and regularly molested by her teacher. With nowhere else to turn, she finds herself asking for supernatural help from one of the seven demons of the seven mysteries of her school. All she desires is the death of her cruel classmates and teacher. How far will Marie be willing to go in order to achieve the murders that would free her from her living hell?

Taking place in Japan at the end of World War II. Devastated in the aftermath of defeat, the Japanese government complies with the Allies' reconstruction plan. Japan begins to recover from the loss after a few years, but America and China intricately divide the nation on a municipal level. Eventually, China's military districts become Chinatowns, and places controlled by the United States are Americanized. The many Chinese and American immigrants make Japanese people the minority in their own land. Some Japanese are unwilling to accept this fate and secretly gather their strength to challenge the new system.

It's July 2016, and the Tadamura family gathers in the Hirasaka village for the funeral of the grandmother and head of the family: the young man Yukito, his step-sister Yue, his father Masashi, his uncles Nobuteru and Tsunemasa, and his cousins Terumi and Teruya, all come to pay their last respects.

Haworthia is a short drama-CD made as a prototype for Ciconia no Naku Koro Ni for Ryukishi07 to tests future Ciconia concepts. The story is of a civilization trying to leave their planet which became unhospitable for them, but it became a paradise for an artificial lifeform designed by this civilization. At the end of the drama-CD is revealed that the planet is Earth 500 million of years ago, right at the point of the Cambrian explosion, and that the artificial lifeform is life as we know it.

Kohinata Asanaro is your regular everyday high school student. He likes light novels, porn games, and fantasizing about the girls in his class. One day when walking home from school he inexplicably releases a demon from a sealed bottle. Her name is Zepafur, and she won't rest until her debt is repaid!

"Now begins the Lovey Dovey Harem Royale!" cries the demon, weaving a most curious magic. As a result, Asanaro's regular high school life transforms into a love-comedy series of harem shenanigans, with four girls from his school all vying for his affection! But...unbeknownst to our dopey protagonist, the four girls are in the midst of a horrific survival game under threat of death and eternal torture. She who fails to capture Asanaro's heart will be confined to the depths of hell.

Power of the Verse

07th Expansion contains a plethora of feats and a huge cosmology.

At its lowest point, there are casual superhuman characters able to perform 9-C to 8-C feats, followed by avatars of magic beings capable of creating mountains of cake as big as Everest, destroy a 10km island, or even crush the Moon. Further higher exists beings beyond the 5th Dimension and an even higher narrative space from where everything below, including the story, is stopped. All of this culminates into a void lacking time and space that is fully connected to all of time-space.

As you go further to the higher points of the cosmology, you have the infinite ladder that makes up all of existence, a High 1-B hierarchy of layers, each lower layer being complete fiction from the point of view of the higher one, populated by being capable of easily traversing said layers. Beings of the Witch Domain resides in the middle of said ladder, with the strongest nearing the top of it.

The True Form of Featherine, a Creator, also exists fully transcendent of everything and freed from all restrictions, residing on a 1-A level from where the difference between Domains is to her nothing more than the difference between the backgrounds of a stage.

Explanation of the Cosmology

  • Explanation
  • Kakera (Fragments)
  • Human Domain
  • Witch Domain
  • The Depths of Oblivion
  • Creator Domain

The 07th Expansion cosmology consists of a metaphysical evolutionary journey of being/spirit, from the point where one's existence is that of a Human, to the almighty and boundless Creator, which resides beyond all restrictions. This journey is divided into two Poles/Sides, the side tossed around by Fate, and the side that creates Fate. Those 2 Poles are themselves divided into multiple existential hierarchies, the hierarchies themselves being divided into existential layers, and even those layers, in some cases, being divided into multiple dimensions.

A vital part of the 07th Cosmology are Kakera or Fragments (sometimes they are also called pieces). They look like small crystals, but they actually are the conceptual form of things such as lower worlds, parallel worlds, fates, possibilities, theories, games, fictional stories, and so on. Their crystallized conceptual forms are part of the higher Domains (Witch Domain and Creator Domain), and only their contents can appear in the Human Domain, be it an entire world, or something more abstract like a feeling. Beings of the higher Domains can merge together Kakera to create stories, as we see above in Higurashi - Matshuribayashi-hen, or Catboxes, as seen in Episode 7 of Umineko

The Human Domain, or "Ningen Domain" (ニンゲンの域) , is not just the domain of humans, but the domain of those tossed around by fate, the first Pole/Side. This includes humans, Yokai, ghosts, higher-dimensional beings, aliens, etc.

While the Humans don't have the power to create anything, they have the ground under their feet. This means that Humans don't need to actively define their existence (like higher order beings), and can go day to day without the fear of losing one's self. They also don't evolve through the layers of the Human Domain, as their only form of evolution is into a Higher Order being into the Witch Domain. Humans aren't even aware of the layers of their Domain or about the complexity of their reality, they are pretty much watching the shadows on the cave's wall without knowing of the existence of the fire behind them, or of the world outside of the cave.

The Witch Domain (魔女たちの領域), or the World of the Gods, is the 2nd domain in the cosmology and the first one of the higher pole, or the side that creates fate. This domain is purely abstract in nature and the concepts of the lower domain can be visualized as Kakera.

The words and languages of the Human Domain are limited compared to those in the higher domain, and they can’t express the concepts of the Witch Domain or understand them. So the fictions/stories created by Humans that make up the Human Domain would never be able to reach into this higher domain because of this limitation of expression. But those limitations aren’t only to language, but to one’s own spirit/being too. The only known ways of reaching into the Witch Domain is by either being led there by a higher being, becoming their Piece or Miko, in this way the higher being guaranteeing your existence in the Witch Domain; or by an internal evolution of the spirit.

The Sea of Oblivion is the void where beings of the higher domains go when their existence gets erased, destroyed, or conceptually denied. It lies at the bottom of the Sea of Fragments, beyond the infinite layers that makes up existence. Concepts such as life and death have no meaning here.

This is the “Hell” where Voyager that “misses a step” on the ladder, or beings that lose their purpose and self to the Sea of Fragments, also go.

Beyond the expansions of the infinite ladder lies The Creator Domain, the last boundary that Featherine reached before becoming a Creator. At this point, the number of restrictions is non-existent.

This is the place where Featherine’s true form exists, and, to her, there’s no difference between her human avatar and her Witch avatar, similar to how to an actor there’s no difference between the roles he plays, as they are all just roles in the end.

We also have a more in-depth explanation page.

Terminology

The definition of a witch is vague, but the most accepted theory is that one is a witch at the point when they gain a power surpassing humans and are able to use it freely.

Worlds of different fates and circumstances are called fragments, and witches who are able to cross the ocean of endless fragments are called voyagers. It is also another name for a high-order (high-level) witch, and witches who are unable to leave their territories cannot compare with their power.

However, perhaps because they do not have specific territories, their personal values are unstable, and it is easy for their souls to become faint. As a result, it is not rare for voyagers to disappear like scraps of seaweed in the ocean of fragments.

Creators sacred beings who can create 1 in the sea of nothingness. They can give birth to 1 from 0, give birth to the endless, and then return it to 0 again in a flash. Free from all restrictions, the voyagers in particular call them Gods.

In that sense, the Witch of Origins Maria may be the chosen girl who was promised to become a Creator.

  • Duel Pistol Set
  • Eiserne Jungfrau
  • The Red Key
  • The Blue Key

Truths are an ability used in Umineko no Naku Koro ni. They are rules introduced in a game board for the battle between witches and humans. There are multiple kinds of truth that each have a different function depending on how they are used and who can use them.

A set of demon duel pistols prepared by Zepar and Furfur. The number of shots loaded depends on the format of the duel. In most cases, it holds just a single round.

The emotions of the duelers are loaded into it, and if the bullet grazes any part of the body, the concept of the target will be denied withotu exception. In the past, duels were performed in the classic style of swords, but this took a great deal of time before an outcome was reached, which displeased certain impatient theatergoing witches.

One of the repentance enforcement agencies supervised by the Great Court of Heaven. Its area of jurisdiction is the 7th District. It is made up of 7 Inquisitors of Heresy, with the first-class Archbishop Dlanor at their head, as well with several Assistant Inquisitors. This body is tasked with performing heresy interrogations, carrying out executions, and sometimes bestowing redemption. However, in almost all cases, the Great Court of Heaven considers sending them only after the completion of a heresy interrogation and a tentative guilty verdict, so they are, practically speaking, no different than an execution squad.

One of the Repentance Enforcement Agencies under the direct supervision of the Great Court of Heaven. Responsible for the 8th District.

It has a long history, even among the other enforcement agencies, and is known for its strict and fundamentalist attitude. Many say that they do not keep up with the times, but they are also highly praised by some for continuing to preserve the basis of the law's spirit to this very day.

A weapon for emergencies used by official Inquisitors of Heresy belonging to Eiserne Jungfrau. Dlanor's primary weapon. Unlike a normal weapon, whose purposes is to cause physical damage, this special tool is known as a conceptual weapon, and it is used to deny the existence of people.

Regardless of whether the target is physical, mental, or conceptual, it is impossible to use any defensive concept, such as physical barriers, mental isolation, and conceptual inheritance, to defend against this weapon. Because the concepts themselves are denied, even the concept of resisting an attack does not exist, and it is impossible for the target to endure regardless of their stamina. Furthermore, all supernatural methods of buying time, such as amelioration, time reversal, revivals, and inheritance are impossible. Because denials of concepts conform to verdict procedures dictated by the Great Court, all future concepts that disobey them will be denied immediately. In addition, when the Red Key forms a complete barrier, all concepts of evasion cannot be successful. Defense is impossible, evasion is impossible, buying time is impossible. This ultimate conceptual weapon is the embodiment of these three impossibilities.

The primary weapons used by official Inquisitors of Heresy belonging to Eiserne Jungfrau.

Like the Red Key, it is a conceptual weapon, but instead of denying the existence of concepts, it is used to create self-doubt and forces others to deny themselves. For this reason, it is called the Blue Key of Reflection, in contrast with the Red Key of Judgment. Unlike the Red Key, it is possible to evade and defend against it. However, while the Red Key has severe restrictions regarding how it can be used, the Blue Key can be wielded with great ease and manipulated at will in all situations.

  • Gauntlet Knight

Aerial Augmented Infantry, otherwise known as Gauntlet Knights, are soldiers recruited by militaries all over the world and chosen to wield Gauntlets, devices worn on their left arms that grant them various abilities. Gauntlet Knights are said to be fighter jets and aircraft carriers combined into one, having firepower and defense that far surpasses either of them.

While Knights are capable of feats such as flying and reflecting bullets, there are still risks to be had; improper use of Ricochet Flying can cause Knights to go blind. Test cases of Knights trying to use the Dimension Container and exploding are also common.

The Eight Million System, abbreviated as 8MS, or Eimiss, is a series of nanomachine systems present throughout the A3W world.

Named after a Japanese belief that eight million kami existed in all things, 8MS was first invented in B3W by the Yaoyorozu Nanotech Firm and designed to alter the Earth’s environment to make it more habitable to humans. Since then, countless types of 8MS have been designed for various functions, from purifying the atmosphere and eliminating odors to affecting the rate at which plants grow. 8MS is also present within the human body, with Gauntlet Knights using Anti-G 8MS, necessary implants that allow them to perform Ricochet Flying without destroying their bodies.

A Selcom is technology existing in the A3W world that acts like a computer inside people's brains. People can chat with friends in virtual rooms and play games while focusing on other things in the real world. Selcom usage is tied with P3 levels, as higher levels means a Selcom can be used more easily due to the stress it puts on the brain.

Selcoms have had much technology and apps developed for it, but the most popular is Kizuna, a translation tool which allows users all over the world to easily form friendships with others.

Parallel Processing Power, or P3, is an important part of Gauntlet Knight training. Parallel Processing is where Knights are able to multitask, often focusing on things in real life as they do other things in virtual reality such as playing games or talking in chat rooms. Higher P3 levels means Knights are more adept at multitasking, conserving energy, and combat.

Umineko Cosmology Explained part 1

Author's Avatar

It is..a pretty strange and overpowered verse, and not just that. It should be noted that some of the information is purely subjective, since it's VERY hard to define Umineko's power and concepts.

In this blog i will cover a Cosmology explanation, the Terminology, a Concept Explanation, Social Hierarchy and much more. It will contain spoilers for the series, so if you are currently watching the visual novel or reading the manga, then well, you might not read this.

One of my favorite visual novel series and the downplay is Irony

I'm doing this for the Strongest and I ran out of ideas so I'm doing this for the time being

Introduction Umineko When They Cry

When They Cry 3; When The Seagulls Cry is a Japanese murder mistery novel by 7thExpansion

The goal of the game is to discern whether the murderer is human or of some other supernatural source. Umineko is the third title in the When They Cry series, preceded by Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, and followed by Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru. Umineko When They Cry is a murder mistery game described as a "sound novel" by 7th Expansion. A sound novel is similar to a visual novel though the gameplay requires no player interaction as the game is composed entirely of text dialogues. While a visual novel's basis would be the visual aspect, as the name suggests, a sound novel's basis takes more care in producing an atmosphere via the music, sound effects, and the story itself. As such, the original Umineko games have a simple-looking art style, which stays consistent over the course of the series' releases. The original releases contain no voice acting for the characters.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni takes place primarily in the year 1986, during the time frame of October 4 and October 5 on a small, secluded island named Rokkenjima 10 km around owned and lived on by Kinzo, the head of the wealthy Ushiromiya family. Kinzo is near death, and eight of his family members arrive on the island for the annual family conference, where the adults plan to discuss how Kinzo's assets will be divided once he is dead. Also on the island are three family members who live there, five of Kinzo's servants, and his personal physician. After the eight family members arrive, a typhoon traps them on the island, and shortly after, strange things start to happen and people start dying under mysterious circumstances.

The main character of the story is Battler Ushiromiya, son of Kinzo's second son Rudolf. Battler has not been to the annual Ushiromiya conference in six years due to living with his maternal grandparents ever since his mother Asumu died, and even took his mother's maiden name instead of Ushiromiya. When his grandparents died, he went back to living with his father, his second wife Kyrie, and their daughter Ange, his half-sister. Once on the island, Battler once again becomes acquainted with the legend of the golden witch Beatrice who supposedly lives in the naturally dense forest on Rokkenjima. A portrait of her lies in the entrance hall of the Ushiromiya family mansion, and a puzzling epitaph is written below the portrait. Rumor has it on the island that Beatrice gave ten tons of gold to Kinzo in the past to restart the Ushiromiya family after being crippled in the 1923 Great Kanto earthquake. It is said that whoever solves the riddle of the witch's epitaph will receive the gold and be the next successor to the Ushiromiya family. Once the typhoon hits, a ghastly game begins, starting with the murder of six people on the island. If the witch's epitaph cannot be solved, people will continue to die in mysterious deaths, following the outline given by the epitaph itself, until the witch Beatrice ultimately revives. After this comes to pass, Battler is the only one left alive who does not believe in witches or magic, and as such the door to the "golden land" as stipulated on the epitaph cannot be opened. Beatrice takes Battler and herself to another location of her territory, Purgatorio, which is able to oversee events on Rokkenjima. From this point on, Battler and Beatrice are locked in a game of twisted logic where Battler must attempt to explain all of the mysterious events on Rokkenjima from the standpoint that they are caused by a human, and Beatrice attempts to explain everything with witches and magic. One of the recurring motifs is use of the locked room mistery, and several logical arguments are presented to explain the mysteries including the devil's proof, the raven paradox and Schrödinger's cat. If Beatrice can get Battler to ultimately surrender and accept witches and magic, Beatrice wins.

It's time for the Cosmology Explanation

The World of “When They Cry” is a constant-ascending world, where the lower worlds can be visualized as mere games or chessboards, and they are completely irrelevant to the beings who exist in higher planes.

We could think of its cosmology as something similiar to this

At the very bottom of the scheme of Aurora's World visible, i'm not talking about the world shoed below, there is a deep, black ocean beyond every concept Dephts of Oblivion. A little explanation about Oblivion: When erased, destroyed or conceptually denied, the essence of the discarded pieces of the higher layers are scattered to this area beyond the infinite dimensional hierarchy the sea encompasses where there is no concept of life, death or dimensions, vanishing from the game board entirely and disappearing. Similarly, this is the "hell" Voyagers who "missed a step" and lost their sense of self, fall into. Powerful enough entities can effect the lost souls who stumble here such as Bernkastel. However, even the weakest entities such as Rika or other human higher beings, if erased there, can still exist and reform in or from this nothingness state as long as they can imagine a body, maintain or regain their will and emotions. that leads you to the Starry Sky Sea of Fragments the Sky that spans across the entire hierarchy, which exists amongst the infinite steps of the hierarchy. Beyond Oblivion there is an endless staircase. Before arriving to the Starry Sky though, you have to approach the lowest layers of the endless staircase Infinite Hierarchy the Domain of Human. You can think of it as the earthly life, bound by restrictions and with a solid ground under the inhabitants's Humans feet. The Domain of Humans consists on a Human World Chessboard which is represented as a Low-World Kakera and the Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts.

The Human World Chessboard is where all the events of the various games not just Umineko, but Higurashi, Rewrite, Higanbana TRianthology, Rose Guns Days and many others as well take place. The white cells are the Human World, here simple Cultural concepts reside; while the black cells are the Supernatural World. Various multidimensional space, the world of demons, spirits, gods, illusions, side in any number of dimensions. Different from humans by their rules and logic. Those are Higher-Worlds with non-linear time, where the concepts of the Human World don't exist or if they exist they are irrelevant and follow a complete different science-explanation. Those higher-worlds can be recognized by the fact that the spirit, soul and consciousness evolve, in this world, the metaphysical “assumptions” that are made in the Human World, in those higher-worlds they become reality an example is, in the Human World it's said that everyone need another person to create a perfect world based on their likes and etc. But that is ust a philosophical way of viewing things, in the Human World. But in the Higher-Worlds, that is what actually happen when you reunite with someone: you actually create a world, in the higher worlds you can also view the actual reasons of why sometimes strange things happen in the Human World and from that world, since magic exist, people use the “magic excuse” which is actually a fact anyway to demonstrate something more explanation about it will come soon in my “Rokkenjima's Massacre: before and then” part of the blog. Those Higher-worlds can be either religious-like planes of existence Buddha's plane, Ramadan and etc or just simple higher-worlds where lower worlds are visualized. Those higher-worlds in Umineko are referred to the “Worlds of Spirits”. In order to ascend in that plane, you have to find a perfect balance between peace and hatred and shift your consciousness to an higher level. Doing that, you'll trascend human limitations and reach those higher-worlds in a giant megaverse Chessboard. Doing that, you assume a “Spiritual Form”. In this form, you can now create worlds subconsciously with your imagination and your dreams can become reality. In the same plane of the Supernatural World we find infinite parallel universes and Quantum Mechanics as well. The Gameboard has its own underside; the Underside of the Gameboard, Transcendental Nothingness that exists beyond yet encompasses all times and places on the board giving already cosmically aware beings further insight. In the whole Chessboard, it is literally the underside of the Gameboard, a trascendental mirror version of the Human World and the Spiritual Dimensions. This is the world Gaap uses. Beyond the Chessboard there is the Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts. The first of those conceptual layers is the Multi-colored laws of nature. Beyond it, there are the Forms of Forces, the Combination of Laws. Beyond that last conceptual layer, we find an Existential Cold, the conceptual layer of the concepts of mind and emotions. Beyond that last concept, we find the conceptual layer of pieces of different truths, an unity of matter and spirit, and here is contained the concept of Kulturkreis. Finally, the last conceptual layer of the Domain of Humans is the hardness of Infinity, where you start to understand more about the Higher Domain. Those conceptual realms are the laws of the Domain of Humans, the embodiment of the fundamental concepts Aurora created to define the scheme of her ideal and perfect world; those conceptual ladders define the Domain of Human/Human's existence, they are broad concepts that write the existence of the World of Humans and sometimes may be too hard for them to understand, which is why Humans are limited to be beings with a ground on their feet limited only to their Imagination and Cultures as the scheme even shows All those conceptual layers are the laws of the Domain of Humans, the abstract forms that define Aurora's shceme of her ideal world, they are the broad meaning of the Domain of Human as a whole, particles of the Shinra Bansho of the lower-world, fundamental concepts that write the Cosmology and the essence of the Domain of Humans. They might even be too hard for human to actually understand, which is why they have a safe ground under their feet and they are limited to their imagination and to their world Real World. Beyond that, there is the "Cloud of incomprehensible concepts", where the hardest, most complicated concpts reside. This plane acts as a "interfer room": if you'll surpass this plane, you'll start to understand the Domain of Witches and assume the shape of a Magical being. If you surpass that cloud, you'll reach the "Peak of All Things". The "Peak of All Things" is what separates a human from the existence of a higher domain. These are the ultimate things that can be conceptualized in this domain. If you understand them, you will be able to advance beyond the wall, and if so, you will become a higher domain creature and most likely just disappear if you do not have a clear goal for existence. This is also related to Lambdadelta's description of humans: "The ones tossed about by fate are the humans. Fools, helpless, can't create anything. ...... However, they have a ground to firmly step under their feet. And that ground will never betray them, thus, they can live their whole existence without the fear of the terror of falling to hell".

The peak is something like a transition stage. Man is already losing the importance of the steps of lower ladder. But it still does not fall into the abyss, and therefore still can return to human being. If he gets into the higher domain, he simply disappears because there the absence of a step means a fall, that is, a disappearance. And in order to have a step, you must clearly define yourself. Humans with a "growing mind that is ascending the Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts" have the potential to be Outerversal. Humans being 1-A by merely understanding concepts is because, the evolution of the spirit allows someone's mind to evolve and reach an abstract and conceptual plane where fundamental concepts of the world are understood. If that being has a mind intelligent enough to understand the concepts and strong enough to endure the pain because the evolution of the mind always causes harm to the being, since with the evolution the being will start to have a shape similiar to the one of higher-order being and will start to understand something that "goes beyond Human's understanding", and thus will cause confusion to the Human then his mind can understand trascendental concepts and will start to have a similiar mind/soul/motives to the one/ones of a higher-order being, which will allows the human to trascend human limitations and become more similiar to higher order beings. As i stated below, beings of the Higher Order are 1-A, and the realms themselves are Outerversal, so yeah.

Once you'll trascend the Peak of All things, you'll finally find yourself in the higher part of the endless ladder: the Domain of Witches, which position is in the middle of the endless staircase. As showed in EP7, after evolving to a point that you surpass the Domain of Humans, you reach the Sea of Fragments, at least in the case of Sayo who wanted to rewrite the Sea of Fragments and recreate the stories representing the reality she was put in. This isn't exactly a layer of the stories of the various verses like Umineko or Higurashi, but rather, it's a place that precedes the stories from the Witches's perspective, it is the first world of the Domain of Witches and a transitional stage between Humans and the superior infinite hierarchy of levels of the Domain of Witches where you achieve more freedom, this is where everything starts, where all the stories of a certain verse from humans's perspective are stored.

In case a Meta-Fragment the fragment of a territory as a whole, for example Umineko's Fragment has a Territory Lord, then it should be noted that there are different types of layers of the Domain of Witches: the first layers, that were said to be located in the Territory. And then, if there are any layers that were mentioned and that are beyond the Territory, then those are outside the Territory. In the case of Umineko, there are many worlds of the Domain of Witches that are part of Beatrice's Territory such as the Meta-World, the Cathedral and etc there are many worlds of the Domain of Witches that are part of Beatrice's Territory such as the Meta-World, the Cathedral and etc , and together, they shape the Meta-Chessboard of the games of Umineko, an higher world Chessboard of the Domain of Witches compared to the Human's Chessboard where Rokkenjima resides and the events where Rokkenjima resides and the events of Rokkenjima's Massacre take place. How do we know that? Well, Bernkastel viewed the Sea of Fragments and the Meta-World as a chessboard from Featherine's Study, a place outside Beato's Territory. Those Chessboards take the shape of Fragments inside the Cat Box.Through the looking glass of the Kakera/Chessboard, we can see that a single possibility has actually an infinite amount of variants.

The Factory of Tales of Beato's Territory, where an infinite amount of tales/games/chessboards are produced is her own Cat Box, which contains an infinite amount of Fragments. Beyond the Cat Box, there is Beatrice's own plane of existence: the Golden Land. Purgatorio is a place directly connected to the Golden Land, and it exists just on a lower plane than it. Outside the Territory of Beato, it is said that there are an endless amount of Cat Boxes that are infinetely larger than Beato's. All those endless larger cat boxes, along with Beato's Territory which contains the Golden Land and her own Cat box made of infinite tales, each with their own higher and lower worlds, form Umineko's fragment as a whole. Finally, Umineko's fragment is nothing more than a single fragment out of infinite fragments in the Starry Sky, aka the True Sea of Fragments. Ghost in the Shell and Children of Paradise are other examples of fragments existing in the starry sky. Other fragments are Higurashi or Higanbana. The difference between the Starry Sky True Sea of Fragments and the Pitch Black Universe Territory Sea of Fragments is that in the True Sea of Fragments, Umineko as a whole aka, the fragment that consists on the endless larger cat boxes bigger than Beato's is stored. In the Territory Sea of Fragments, an infinite amount of fragments that ONLY represent the events of the human world of a certain verse are stored. Each verse aka, Umineko as a whole, Higurashi as a whole and etc has its own Territory Sea of Fragments.

Finally, we find the highest known realms of the Domain of Witches, aka the realms outside Beato's Territory. Those are: Witches's Theatre, 7th Theater, Featherine's Study, Hell, Purgatory, Heaven and the City of Books. However, along with Beato's Territory, all those planes are viewed as nothing more than an irrelevant chessboard from Featherine's perspective. Featherine took a step beyond the infinite hierarchy of Witches, and she fell from the Domain of the Creator, the top of the Infinite Hierarchy. Speaking about the staircase, the Infinite Hierarchy has its own underside: the True Sea of Fragments. A place where all Voyager Witches consantly travel across the infinite Sea to find a Fragment to escape their boredom. On this World, Umineko as a whole aka, Umineko's territory and Beatrice's Cat Box is nothing more than just a Fragment inside an infinite size ocean containing an infinite amount of Fragments. Even Umineko's predecessor, “Higurashi- When the cicades cry” is nothing more than just a meaningless fragment. Every Fragment is nothing but insignificant existence to the true Voyages. Finally, at the top of the Hierarchy, we find the Domain of the Creator, where restrictions, life, death and meaning do not even exist.

Golden Land

The highest plane of existence of Umineko Territory as a whole; Fragment in the True Sea of Fragments read below In EP 8, it was also showed to be one step above than Oblivion, and it was resisting its own erasure caused by Oblivion. The existence of this world is mantained by Beatrice's Golden Heart.

The most common layer of Umineko Fragment. It exists on a MUCH higher plane than the gameboard. It is a layer of the Infinite Hierarchy, and it's usually visisted by Witches considering that the Meta-World is actually the main living place of Witches.

This is where all Meta-World beings gather.

In this world, the gameboard is viewed as a Chessboard or as a Fragment.

In the Meta-World, concepts are meaningless to the ones who reside there.

Meta-World beings can freely travel between this world and the various locations of Beato's Territory.

In this world, a slight action can change the entire reality of all lower worlds.

The Meta-World encompasses many metaphysical worlds of the Infinite Layered world of Witches. Those worlds include:

Thinking Room: The room where the ones from the human side discuss with each other

Witches's Tea Room: The world from readers from outside Beato's territory. Those readers can view the game from here.

Witches's Smoking Room: The place where all debates of EP 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 take place.

Witches's Resting Room.

Meta-Mariage Sorceriere: The Meta-World version of Mariage Sorceriere. It served as the HQ of the Witch's Alliance: Beatrice, Maria and Ange.

Realm of Hell: The realm where all the 72 Great/Pillar Demons the demons of Beatrice's stories only. The true “Hell” of the verse is a Dante-like Hell where every entity from “When They Cry” and even more reside. It is described as a bottomless pit beyond the Infinite Hierarchy and its existence is connected with Purgatory.

The Balcony. In Umineko's fighting game, every world possess a Meta-World version where Meta-World moves are used. Thus, the Balcony which is a location of the Human world isn't anymore a location of the Human World, but ascended to an higher plane and became an higher-dimension that is, its Meta-World version, a world that every character of the game can manipulate [This is how the Meta-World version look like.

The Acquarium. Read above.| https://youtu.be/vzutlNiOwlk ] This is how its Meta-World version look like. The Concert. Read above. This is a view of the Meta-World version of The Concert. The Cantine. The Shed is where the the first six sacrifices for the Witch's epitaph took place during the first two games. This is a Meta-World view of Shed. Kuwadorian. The Kuwadorian is the hidden mansion on Rokkenjima where Beatrice was held. In Banquet of the Golden Witch, the existence of a smaller mansion called Kuwadorian on Rokkenjima is revealed. In the year 1967, Kinzo had managed to trap Beatrice in a human body and seal her memories. The human Beatrice lived in Kuwadorian alone. Rosa chanced upon this mansion one day, and invited the human Beatrice out of the mansion to "see the outside world", only to have the human Beatrice fall off a cliff and die. Upon her death, Beatrice regained all her memories and powers. Like the others stages, it has a Meta-World version. [This is a view of Meta-World Kuwadorian.

The Shrine. This is where the mirror that contained Beatrice's powers was located. In order to ask for a wish, Shannon had to destroy that mirror. Like the other stages, it has a Meta-World variant.| https://youtu.be/IWhcPWLfiBo ] [This is a view of the Meta-World Shrine.

Main Hall. This is where Beatrice's portrait and the epitaph of the gold can be seen. Like the other stages, it has a Meta-World variant.| https://youtu.be/IWhcPWLfiBo ] https://youtu.be/DDADZd82pmg This is a view of the Meta-World variant of the Main Hall].

The Room of the Gold. This is the room where Italian's gold which then became Kinzo's, see EP7 to know more is kept. When Eva solved the epitaph discovered the gold, her bad and childish side was separated from Eva and became the new Golden Witch: Eva Beatrice. Like the other stages, it has a Meta-World variant. This is a view of the Meta-World variant. The Ship. Erika's ship. This appears in EP8, and it was used to destroy the door to the Golden Land, so that all the Theory Goats could have reached that majestic place created by Beato. The ship also appear during the battle between Beatrice's side and Bernkastel's side in the Golden Land! Like every other stage, it has a Meta-World variant. This is a view of the Meta-World version. The Chapel: The Chapel 礼拝堂 Reihaidō? is a building on Rokkenjima and the site of several murders that take place. It is situated in a grove behind the Mansion which could be reached after a short walk. It had been built at the same time that the mansion had been constructed on Rokkenjima, so while its outside walls had been repaired many times, making it look new from the outside, it was a very old building. To Kinzo it was a very sacred place, and so he has harshly told his children not to approach it unnecessarily. It has its own key, so master keys won't allow it to be opened. In addition, Willard, a piece on the gameboard, is capable of lifting all of Beatrice's infinite games in his hand whilst manifesting in the Cathedral. Zepar and Furfur's Realm. Probably the highest Meta-World universe. A common realm in EP6. This place acts as a “behind-the-scenes”. In this place, Zepar and Furfur announces the love trials to the pair of lovers, and it resembles a Meta-World place.

Umineko's Cosmology: Bottomless Ocean

Depths of Oblivion Outerversal

When erased, destroyed or conceptually denied, the essence of the discarded pieces of the higher layers are scattered to this area of the unknown location the sea encompasses where there is no concept of life, death or dimensions vanishing from the game board entirely and disappearing. Oblivion is the bottom of the sea, the bottomless pit, which however encompassess the Domain of Witches since the endless staircase leads people to the abyss below and at the same time when they free from restrictions they reach higher layers and the staircase leads you to Room of the Creator This is an extremely similiar concept to the one of "Ein Solf".

In EP 8, it was also going to consume the Cat Box and at the end of EP 8,the Cat Box reached the Dephts of Oblivion.

Since it's unknown if this state is applicable in combat, however, even the weakest of entities are at the least noted to be Outerversal level in durability via regeneration and hax, whilst more powerful beings are noted to being capable of effecting these structures.

Umineko's Cosmology Endless Staircase

Infinite Hierarchy/Realm of Witches Outerversal

The cosmology When They Cry has infinite higher worlds being analogued to an infinite ladder that has infinite steps being called endeavors" that leads to the bottomless abyss, or rather the infinite hierarchical abyss a similar concept to that of Ein Sof The Witches are higher existences than human and the higher they and other higher beings walk on that ladder and the more they seek freedom and power, the more they freed from restrictions proportionally. Humans are the lowest existences on that hierarchy, tied and tossed around by fate and at the lowest "endeavors". In the "middle" are the Witches, creators of fate and its players, they accepted Limitations and Restrictions So that They will not lose the "ground" on their foot With Lambdadelta somewhere on that "middle" In the very Domain of Witches there are infinite levels of existence. Beyond those, there is a Domain close to the Domain of the Creator, where Featherine's true nature exists, and Beatrice was also approaching her level, though it should be noted that between her and Featherine there is still an infinite hierarchy The Ultimate beings that stand at the top Brahman of the infinite hierarchical abyss are The Creator the Gods and Creator Witches, who freed from infinity and all restrictions, they boundless and had survived even unboundness itself, they are absolute, omnipotent, omniscient, creators and rulers of all Creation. This hierarchy is basically the actual living place of Witches where the latters constantly evolve in order to reach more freedom and liberty and to become a creator, though most of the times they accept limitations and define the “ground under their foot”.

Infinite Hierarchy It is subdivided in the Domain of Humans, Domain of Witches, Forbidden Layer and the Domain of the Creator

Domain of Humans: High Hyperversal, "The Peak of all Things" reaches the Dimensionless level Bottom of the Infinite Hierarchy, Hierarchy of Humans, consists on the Human World Chessboard and the Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts

The Human World Chessboard is where the events of of the Human World take place, such as Rokkenjima's Massacre. The Human World Chessboard has the white cells and the black cells. The white cells represent the Real World, while the black cells the Spiritual World. The Human Chessboard has its own underside as well, where the pieces that left the game go. Inside the Sea of Fragments of the territory, it takes the shape of a lower-world kakera, and there are an infinite amount of kakeras (each represent a different outcome of just one single story) in the Territory Sea of Fragments. The Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts isn't a physical reality, but rather, abstract and conceptual planes of existence that your soul attend to reach depending on the level of its evolution and depending the intellect and understanding of an individual's mind, spiritual evolution, and the more your understanding of the world increases, the more you free from restrictions, eventually you'll reach the Higher-Order Domain in the japanese version it's explained FAR better Those conceptual layers embody and contain various fundamental concepts part of Aurora's scheme of the world. At the peak of those there is a cloud of incomprehensible concepts compared to the lower ones, and beyond it the last boundary before reaching the existence of higher-order beings. Technically, while Beatrice's Domain is an higher world compared to the Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts, it does NOT contain this hierarchy: this is a spiritual hierarchy that doesn't exist as a physical structure, but rather a metaphysical and abstract hierarchy made of perfect and broad concepts separated from reality; and while it does exist below the Domain of Witches, Beatrice's Chessboard contains only the Human World Chessboard which consists on the Real World, Spiritual World and Underside and several higher worlds of the Domain of Witches.

Human Chessboard/Kakera Lower-World Kakera of the Human World

11D The Human Chessboard is where the events of the various tales take place outside of the Meta-World events. This is basically where Rokkenjima's Massacre takes place, but also where other events from other verses occur like Higurashi, the difference is that Higurashi is just another verse from the True Sea of Fragments, and thus, while the events still happen in the Human Chessboard, though it should be noted that the two worlds are actually very connected.

The Human World is 3D space and 4D time, and it also contain a dimension that has a different flow of time and infinite space. The Chessboard consists on countless possibilities

Beatrice "H, hm. ......For example, perhaps you could say these worlds are very close like parallel lines. The worlds are nearby, but because they are parallel lines, they will never cross. For the time being, you can view that world in such manner." Basically, each episode/game in the Human World, is another possibility that you could make happen in the Chessboard if you're the Game Master and Game Masters devote themselves in order to fully define the new game.

Beyond all these possibilities that compose the Chessboard of each Meta-Fragment Umineko and other verses as wholes, there is a world that acts as a debating court. This world appears a perfect reflection of the Human World where the pieces are put, with the difference that the pieces cannot perceive this temporal dimension and time appears as frozen to them in fact, the pieces cannot interact with the beings that currently and concretely exist in this world, and Beatrice described this world as an higher-level world. However, the pieces can perfectly access to this world when they have to discuss something with their "side" in order to find a way to overcome a certain phase of the game, and the debaters can see from above everything that is happening on the Human World. This world, generally, manifests itself after a certain sequence of scenes, leaving space for the two teams to reflect on the events of the game and analyze with care the various scenarios and probabilities waiting for the game to proceed most of the time after the clock shows another hour, however, those who manifest themselves in this place do not necessarily have to be pieces in the chessboard, but also a simple challengers of the game's creator the creator of the game is generally found in his position in the Meta World that is enjoying the show.

Beyond the 5th Dimensional Wall, there is another layer of the Human World where the "people of Ryun" began to migrate, and mission to be sanctions against those who carry out the violations, such as harm to the indigenous people. As a layer, it adds an additional dimension beyond the 5th Wall, non-linear time and the concept of non-dualism. Thus, an 8th Dimensional World.

And then, there is the Human Version of the Territory Sea of Fragments. As confirmed by Alice in TRIanthology, the Human World has a Sea of Fragments where all the countless piece of fictions made by humans take the shape of kakeras those kakeras are viewed as fiction inside the Sea of Fragments of the Human Domain, which means that instead of being 11D, they are 10D due to being one-dimensional lower. As a layer of the Human Chessboard the highest one, it adds 3 spatial dimensions as it adds linear time, non-linear time and non-dualism.

A famous location of the Real World. Rokkenjima is a fictional island on which most of the action in Umineko no Naku Koro ni series takes place. It is small and secluded, lying just off the coast of Japan. Rokkenjima measures roughly 10km around and is covered mostly by forest, save for the mansion grounds as well as the grounds of a smaller, separate mansion. The design of the exterior of the main mansion's guest house is based on a mansion in Kyu-Furukawa Gardens in Kita, Tokyo.

Supernatural World

Supernatural world At least 12D- The black cells of the Human Chessboard.

Here, various supernatural entities reside It is transitional reality that transcends the human world.

It was stated to be far beyond the Human World.

This world is based on wavelenghts and wavefunctions, and Spirits use those quantumparticles-based concepts in order to communicate with humans or manifesting in their world a certain kind of atmosphere that changes and conditions the human's mind and point of views.

Reverse side of the Board

The reverse side of the board At least 13D - A transcendental void beyond lower world concepts of space and time. As confirmed by the image of the Cosmology Hierarchy, it is “a trascendental void beyond everywhere and everytime”. This is the captured tile discarded pieces that left the game go.

As showed in Aurora's shceme of the World, it is a Trascendental Realm beyond time, place and coordinates, a reflection of reality where an illogical flows of events are stored.

Trough the looking Glass

Countless Worlds, those are all variants of variants of the main world that was meant to represent the Kakera. For example, inside the Cat Box, there are infinite Kakeras, and only one of them contain the truth, and the truth is a possibility out of all the infinite outcomes that are contained within the right Kakera, and it's already hard to tell which is the right Kakera since there are an infinite amount of them in the Cat Box.

Those worlds are reflection of the human and nonhuman world, where all the metaphysical distortions that represent the world and contradict the various planes inside that very world. Reversion of the affects of all the aspects of the Shinra Bansho, but what exactly will be mirrored depends on the type of the world inside the Kakera, infinite worlds and what was that world meant to represent.

Each world inside the kakera can represent a determinated event or a "what if that happens in the story".

This is why inside a mere Kakera not only can exist the world that actually represent the events of the gameboard, but the existence of a totally not-related world is possible as well

Cat Box of the Single Truth/Cat Box of the Future High Hyperversal

This is a concept based on Beato's Cat Box. Basically, this Cat Box exists inside the Human Hierarchy of every Meta-Kakera. This Cat Box encompasses and encloses the Human Chessboard with all its possibilities, manifesting the mystery of the Chessboard that allows us to know if the "cat inside the box is alive or dead", basically, the single factual truth behind the mystery in Umineko's case, the key to open the Cat Box was Eva's Diary, which told us what happened during those two days of October defined by the war of science and magic "Is the cat alive science or dead magic?" This shouldn't be mistaken with Beatrice's Cat Box, which actually surpassed the Domain of Humans and reached the level of Witches while this Cat Box encompassess the Human World and defines it as an uncertain wavefunction Beatrice's Cat Box is a world where endless possibilities and events happen as a result of a new tale being spinned in her Cat Box, this world is based entirely on magic as Beatrice's Magical Compendium which is the factor that creates the endless possibilities that will be stored in Beatrice's Cat Box.

This Cat Box doesn't reach the level of Witches the truth of this Cat Box is not analyzed according to the magical criteria that are at the base of the magical compendium that defines the world and the reason of the creator, in this case the world of love of Beatrice its only purpose is to define the mystery and declear if there is some sort of magic behind it, putting the two different Domains Human vs Witches in conflict. It simply demonstrates what has happened from a human point of view destroying the Cat Box of the future and all the theories contained within. This Cat Box is the conventional truth that Ange was looking for, a truth that then Battler refused to let her know as shown in episode 8, he wanted to remind her of all the moments spent with the family, but at the end of episode 8 when Ange has now discovered the truth, Battler tells Ange to believe in miracles and turn around and not to look so as not to know what will happen in the City of Books so as to remain the outcome of the Cat Box unknown in the eyes of Ange and as a result conceptually deny the death of his family, so as not to destroy the hope of seeing them again and not come to a conclusion, not revealing to the human world the truth that lies behind the Cat Box and leaving no demonstration, since the Cat Box is a world in contrast between science and magic and without recognizing the factual existence of one of the two, the magic inside the Cat Box can not be denied because the content of the Cat Box is never been shown.

From a magical point of view, however, Umineko was completely erased by Featherine in the City of Books and the Golden Land was destroyed during the battle between Beatrice's and Erika's forces; but, since Ange is the only one who can determine the fate of the Cat Box in the Human world, he has never admitted any end to history, and the Golden Land that Sayo created to bring back the Ushiromiya was never destroyed, and while conceptually Beatrice's Cat Box reaches oblivion and a state of total erasure and non-existence the  Cat Box reaches oblivion and a state of total erasure and non-existence, in the eyes of Ange the mystery of the Cat Box is now just an irrelevant case and scientifically can not be denied  given that Featherine's avatar has never revealed the truth of history to the human world Since Ange, however, the Witch of Truth and Resurrection that can define her future and the future Of mystery with her choices recognizes the existence of magic, the content of the Cat Box summarizes again a magical form creating new a paradox between science and magic where nothing can be proved with certainty, as a result Beatrice's Cat Box is revitalized and both magical and human creatures are allowed to live together in harmony. To put an end to the story of Rokkenjima, when all the magical and human creatures essential members of Beatrice's Territory and not, Willard, for example gather in Ange's hall, Beatrice opens the doors to the Golden Land Beatrice opens the doors to the Golden Land, the paradise of her territory and once and for all closes the mystery of the Cat Box behind her, promises to all a life of eternal happiness in the land of miracles.

Finally, the reason why this Human World Cat Box is High Hyperversal is because the world, the uncertain and unconfirmed possibility that resides inside it is described to be a Wavefunction, Something that mathematically compose Hilbert Space as it is a function space defined by Wavefunction/ns, with Quantum Superposition, a new world of different quantum theories, a multi-layered world based on the concept of Schrodinger's Cat Box and defined by quantum waves.

Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts

Multicolored Laws of Nature

Exist as an higher plane compared to the previous ones of the Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts. The laws of the World are what represent the several fundamentals planes of existence: Physic Plane, Mental Plane, Causal Plane, Akaishic Plane, Astral Plane, Spiritual Plane, Messianic Plane.

This universe has seven planes, or dimensions. A diagram later in this chapter illustrates them. Three are ordinal concrete, three are cardinal abstract, and one is neutral, providing connection. The most ordinal plane is the physical, which is concrete energy. Its position is mirrored by the most cardinal plane, the buddhaic, which is abstract energy. The astral plane concrete emotion is the middle ordinal plane. It is mirrored in position by the middle cardinal plane, the messianic abstract emotion. The causal plane concrete thought is the highest ordinal plane. It is mirrored in position by the lowest cardinal plane, the mental. This mirroring balances the universe. The higher planes are about pure energy, love, and truth; the lower planes are about manifesting them. The fulcrum of the balance is the neutral akashic plane. It connects all the others through the akashic or record-keeping aspect of each plane, which feed into it.

There are etheric, nonsolid levels of the physical plane both lower and higher in frequency than our physical bodies. Some people with psychic skills can see them. The fact that they can be physically seen indicates that they are part of the physical plane. We cannot physically see what is nonphysical, although we may translate our nonphysical perceptions into physical images. The etheric substance lower in vibration than the solid physical connects it with the Tao. This is the realm of devas, or nature spirits; it could be called the “lower physical plane.” The etheric substance higher in vibration than the solid physical connects it with the astral; it is in the realm of what could be called the “upper physical plane.” It is the domain of “ghosts,” and some extraterrestrials. The ethereal life form of the “higher sentients” who lived on earth before the “fall of man” was also of the upper physical plane. What we consider solid substance, as well as other vibrations that we can directly perceive such as light and sound, exist in the “middle physical plane.” It might be more accurate to view the planes as being in a circle rather than a line. This is illustrated in the following diagram. Each spiral loop is a plane of creation. The six spiral loops that make one big loop, like a “Slinky” toy with the beginning and end connected, are the planes we experience in a progression. The loop in the middle is the akashic plane; it is not directly part of the progression because we do not actually have a cycle of experience there—it is a resource for the universe as a whole, and provides the Tao with a distillation of all that has been accomplished in this universe. The point of beginning “Entrance” and end “Exit” is in the Tao, the undimensional ground of all being—this is where we start and finish the game. The pattern filling each loop representing a plane matches that of the plane on the same axis; for example, both the astral and messianic planes are on the inspiration axis, and both are filled with a checkerboard design. The fill of the loop representing the akashic plane is a darker version of the neutral gray pattern that fills the circle representing the universe as a whole, signifying the akashic records that extend from the akashic plane and interpenetrate all the planes of existence. The akashic plane is directly accessible from the causal and mental planes, illustrated on the diagram with straight lines.

Although this model demonstrates the progression of sentient consciousness, it should not be construed as meaning that only the physical and buddhaic planes have direct contact with the Tao. The diagram illustrates this by showing the universe the inner circle as being contained within the Tao the outer circle. Since the Tao is the ground of all being, every plane has a direct connection with it. The Tao is inherent in any vibrational frequency; those on any plane can “arrive” at it “coming or going” through either increasing their frequency to “all frequency” or decreasing it to “no frequency.”

Combination of Laws

Exist as an higher plane compared to the previous ones of the Hierarchical Ladder of Concepts. This personifies a layer where laws are stored and merged, thus serving as an Akaishic Plane, which then is related to the Astral Plane.

Akaishic Plane/Records

In theosophy and anthroposophy, the Akashic records are a compendium of all human events, thoughts, words, emotions, and intent ever to have occurred in the past, present, or future. They are believed by theosophists to be encoded in a non-physical plane of existence known as the etheric plane. There are anecdotal accounts but no scientific evidence for existence of the Akashic records.

Akasha is the Sanskrit word for 'aether' or 'atmosphere'. Also, in Hindi, ākāsh means 'sky' or 'heaven'.

The Sanskrit term akasha was introduced to the language of theosophy through H. P. Blavatsky 1831–1891, who characterized it as a sort of life force; she also referred to "indestructible tablets of the astral light" recording both the past and future of human thought and action, but she did not use the term "akashic". The notion of an akashic record is attributed to Alfred Percy Sinnett, who, in his book Esoteric Buddhism 1883, wrote of a Buddhist belief in "a permanency of records in the Akasa" and "the potential capacity of man to read the same." By C. W. Leadbeater's Clairvoyance 1899 the association of the term with the idea was complete, and he identified the akashic records by name as something a clairvoyant could read In his 1913 Man: How, Whence, and Whither?, Leadbeater claims to record the history of Atlantis and other civilizations as well as the future society of Earth in the 28th century.

The akashic record is like an immense photographic film, registering all the desires and earth experiences of our planet. Those who perceive it will see pictured thereon: The life experiences of every human being since time began, the reactions to experience of the entire animal kingdom, the aggregation of the thought-forms of a Karmic nature based on desire of every human unit throughout time. Herein lies the great deception of the records. Only a trained occultist can distinguish between actual experience and those astral pictures created by imagination and keen desire.

Astral Plane

The Astral Plane, also called the astral world, is a plane of existence postulated by classical particularly neo-Platonic medieval, oriental, esoteric philosophies and Mystic religions It is the world of the celestial spheres, crossed by the soul in its astral body on the way to being born and after death, and is generally believed to be populated by Angels spirits or other immaterial beings. In the late 19th and early 20th century the term was popularised by Theosophy and neo-Rosicrucianism. Another view holds that the astral plane or world, rather than being some kind of boundary area crossed by the soul, is the entirety of spirit existence or spirit worlds to which those who die on Earth go, and where they live out their non-physical lives. Some writers conflate this realm with heaven or paradise or union with God itself, and others do not. P. Yogananda wrote in Autobiography of a Yogi, "The astral universe . . . is hundreds of times larger than the material universe . . .[with] many astral planets, teeming with astral beings." p.416 When Alice Bailey writes of seeing "Masters . . . upon the inner spiritual planes [who]. . . work with Christ and the planetary hierarchy," she refers to a vision she had of the unseen astral realm that these and countless other beings inhabit. Christ being in that realm, it is hard to construe it as a non-heaven.

The Barzakh, olam mithal or intermediate world in Islam and the "World of Yetzirah" in Lurianic Kabbalah are related concepts.

Note that this is going to be a very long blog so I'll have no choice to split it into parts for the next blog

Existential Cold

Exists as an higher plane compared to the previous ones of the Hierarcical Ladder of Concepts. In a broad sense, this personifies the concepts of Emotions and Mind.

Mental Plane

The mental plane, or world of thought in Hermeticism, Theosophical Rosicrucian, Aurobindonian, and new age thought refers to the macrocosmic or universal Plane or reality that is made up purely of thought or mindstuff. In contrast to Western Secular modernist and post-modern thought in occult and esoteric cosmology, thoughts [and consciousness are not just a byproduct of Brain functioning, but have their|https://en. m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consciousness ] own objective and universal reality quite independent of the physical. This reality itself constitutes only one gradation in a whole series of planes of existence the total number of planes varies, although seven is a common number in Theosophical formulations. In most such cosmologies and explanations of reality, the mental plane is located between, and hence is intermediate between, the astral plane below and the higher spiritual realms of existence above. The esoteric conception of the mental plane had to wait till the occult revival of the late 19th century, with the development of modern Theosophical, Hermetic, and Kabbalistic ideas that were to serve as the foundation for the current New Age movement.H. P. Blavatsky taught a cosmology and ontology consisting of seven principles and seven planes. In her writings she aimed at showing how different spiritual systems share a common source, and therefore refers to Vedantic, Buddhist, Samkhyan, Tantric, Neoplatonic, Ancient Egyptian, Kabbalistic, and Occult systems. She relates the mind with the principle of Manas, and also talks about a kosmic Manasic plane. However, the latter represents a very sublime level of consciousness which can be experienced only by enlightened beings.

In The Kabbalah Unveiled, MacGregor Mathers the sephirot apart from the lowest, Malkhut, representing the physical world) of the Tree of Life into three triads: the Intellectual, Moral, and Astral triads. The Intellectual triad could be compared to the Neoplatonic ideas Intellect = Nous and this here represents the highest subdivision.

Around the turn of the twentieth century, Max and Alma Theon were producing The Tradition. This involved a Lurianic Kabbalistic-inspired cosmology in which the ineffable Godhead emanates a number of sublime worlds, the lowest of which is made up of seven or eight States. The third or fourth lowest State is the Mental or Intellectual, which again corresponds to a very high, spiritual level of consciousness.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru

Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru ( うみねこのなく頃に散 , lit. When Seagulls Cry Scattering ) is the second half of the Umineko When They Cry series, and contains Episodes 5 to 8 of the story. Unlike the second half of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni , Umineko Chiru does not simply present direct solutions to the first four arcs, but instead gradually delves into the core of the story, revealing clues to its mysteries in the process. It is also referred to as When They Cry 4 in the overall When They Cry franchise.

The original releases of Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru took place from August 15, 2009 to December 31, 2010, and were translated by The Witch Hunt . Umineko Chiru was later officially released worldwide in English as Umineko When They Cry Answer Arcs by MangaGamer in collaboration with Witch Hunt on November 17, 2017. The English edition contains all four question arcs and is playable on Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. It may be purchased on MangaGamer, Steam , or GOG.

Episodes [ ]

Episode 5: End of the Golden Witch

As a result of Beatrice's defeat in the fourth game, this episode introduces a new game master in the form of the witch Lambdadelta . Another witch, Bernkastel , takes primary control of the human side in the game. She introduces a new visitor to the island in the form of the detective Erika Furudo , who approaches the murders from a "mystery" perspective, unlike Battler who had taken an "anti-fantasy" stance. The chapter also has a focus on Natsuhi , who receives threatening phone calls from a " Man from 19 Years Ago ".

Episode 6: Dawn of the Golden Witch

Having become the new game master, Battler is tasked in this chapter with creating his own gameboard as a way of demonstrating his understanding of Beatrice's game. Like in the second game, Battler's game has a focus on the relationships between George and Shannon, and between Jessica and Kanon. It also introduces a reborn Beatrice who struggles to discover the person she once was and understand her relationship to Battler.

Episode 7: Requiem of the Golden Witch

This episode presents an alternate reality where Battler does not come to Rokkenjima, the Golden Witch does not exist, and a mysterious child named Lion is now the designated successor to the Ushiromiya family. The protagonist is Willard H. Wright , who is tasked by Bernkastel to uncover the truth behind Beatrice. The chapter delves into the past experiences of several characters, including Kinzo and the person who would become Beatrice.

Episode 8: Twilight of the Golden Witch

The final chapter focuses on Ange , who in her quest to discover the truth behind the events of the Rokkenjima incident is given the chance to go to Rokkenjima as a six-year old by Battler. Unlike in the previous episodes, this episode has features which require direct interaction from the player, allowing the player to unlock extra scenes as well as make the choice between two endings.

  • Despite the official English name, Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru is often referred to by fans as the Core Arcs. This is meant to reflect the fact that these arcs are not direct answers like in the case of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai , with "Kai" translates to "solutions". "Chiru" however does not actually translate to "core", but means "scattering", as in the scattering of petals. The four arcs are also officially referred to as 展開編 ( Tenkai-hen ), roughly meaning "unraveling arcs".

  1. Witch

Witch (魔女, Majo) is a term that indicates, from an imaginary point of view, a human being skilled in using magic who has ascended to a higher plane of existence and is therefore capable of existing outside the physical world. Umineko seems to me to have three layers to it: the real world (mostly backstories, the real Rokkenjima incident, and Ange's journey), the message bottles and/or forgeries (all other accounts of what happened on Rokkenjima), and a meta-world (which doesn't really exist, but symbolically portrays things like characters reading the message ...
