Hailing from Los Angeles, US, T.S.O.L (True Sounds of Liberty) have enjoyed a career of over thirty years, as one of the most popular hardcore punk bands of the California, US scene.

The band came together in 1978, after the four youngsters, Jack Grisham (vocals), Ron Emory (bass), Mike Roche (bass) and Todd Barnes (drums) began playing together, having previously being in the band, Vicious Circle. The band gained infamy and a loyal local following quickly, with their shows often ending in riots, fueled by their signature gothic punk sound. Releasing their eponymous EP and debut album, "Dance With Me," they established their prowess on the scene, playing alongside the likes of The Damned, the Dead Kennedys and Bad Religion, with their music influencing the likes of the Misfits and the Lords of the New Church.

Moving to the record label, Alternative Tentacles, T.S.O.L released "Beneath the Shadows," an album that moved their gothic hardcore to operatic levels worthy of Meat Loaf, gaining mass critical acclaim despite their radical change. After a lineup change, with vocalist Joe Wood and drummer Mitch Dean replacing Grisham and Barnes. The band continued to tour extensively, borrowing the Dead Kennedys' van for a nationwide tour. In 1987, another significant change in the band's sound came with "Hit and Run, moving towards the hair metal of Poison, donning leather jackets and alienating fans in the process. T.S.O.L's hair metal faze continued with 1990's "Strange Love," with Emory and Roche soon leaving the band, unhappy with this change in direction.

The original members formed a new group, T.S.O.L: The Original Members, releasing a live album under this name. A resurgence in the band's popularity came in 1996, after Slayer covered several of their songs, prompting the original members to fight to take back their name and reestablished their hardcore sound. With Grisham back behind the mic, "Disappear" came out in 2001 on Nitro Records, reaffirming their presence on the punk scene. They continued releasing albums into 2003, with "Divided We Stand," before again laying down their instruments in 2006. They again returned in 2008, continuing to perform regularly and embarking on tours internationally in 2013, traveling to Brazil, Sweden, Germany, Austria, amongst others,

Live reviews

True Sound Of Liberty, aka. T.S.O.L are a band I’ve followed for many years now. Their punk rock music was incredibly original back in the 70s when then began playing, and they are a band who have adapted incredibly well with tie times, and have produced consistently great music ever since. Although their line up has changed considerably over the years, they have stayed true to their roots, and if anything, each new member brings great variety and progression to the group.

Jack Grisham, who has been the band vocalist on an off since their formation, has an incredibly distinctive voice, and is well known for his eccentric dress sense and incredible vocal improvisations in their live shows. Witnessing this was incredible, and seeing him run and headband around stage whilst performing incredible vocals was something that it’s just impossible to get from a recorded album. They were great at interacting with the audience, and they kept shouting out to us to jump up and down, to put out arms in the air, and to sing along. Everyone there seemed to be long time fans, so the atmosphere was great and we were all appreciating the music and joining in. The band were incredible and their instrumental solos blew me away, fro the shredding of the guitars, to the crazy drum beats, and mad riffs on piano. They always mix up their live shows, and you’re guaranteed to hear something new!

Tour of Austria final stage cancelled after Andre Drege dies following crash

The final stage of the Tour of Austria was cancelled on Sunday after Norwegian cyclist Andre Drege died following a crash , with the organizers holding a memorial ride in tribute to Drege instead.

Drege, 25, crashed during a descent of the mountain Grossglockner on Saturday. His death was announced by race organizers after the stage ended, and the post-race presentations were cancelled.

"The memorial ride was the express wish of Andre's father, his teammates and his entire team," Tour of Austria director Thomas Pupp said in a statement.

"It gives the entire cycling family the opportunity to come to terms with what happened and to honour Andre Drege's memory."

The Tour de France also paid respect to Drege before stage nine in Troyes on Sunday, with the riders leading a moment of applause before the race.

Tour de France stage nine won by Frenchman Anthony Turgis as race leader Tadej Pogačar keeps the yellow jersey

Sport Tour de France stage nine won by Frenchman Anthony Turgis as race leader Tadej Pogačar keeps the yellow jersey

A cyclist sits up in the saddle shouting in celebration crossing the line. Another rider clenches his fist in frustration.

Frenchman Anthony Turgis emerged victorious from a long breakaway through the dust of gravel roads to claim the ninth stage of the Tour de France after a hectic day of racing, marked by relentless attacks.

Behind the breakaway, race leader Tadej Pogačar tried to set the race on fire as the fight between the main contenders raged but could not gain time on his main rivals for the yellow jersey.

Turgis, who rides for the Total Energies team, posted the biggest win of his career in a sprint, edging out Tom Pidcock and Derek Gee in the Champagne city of Troyes.

It was the third stage win by a French rider since the race started last week.

"It's incredible, it was a long time since I did not win," said Turgis.

"It was a long day, the team put its trust in me by giving me carte blanche today. I dedicate this win to all the people who trusted me."

There was no major change in the overall standings, with Pogačar keeping his 33-second lead over Remco Evenepoel.

Two-time defending champion Jonas Vingegaard remained in third place, 1:15 off the pace.

The tough stage took riders on a nearly 200-kilometre trek through 14 sections of so-called white roads — including six in the stage finale — that have become a trademark of Italy's Strade Bianche.

Pogačar loves riding on this difficult terrain, having won the Strade Bianche twice, and proved it with a series of sharp attacks that put his rivals on the back foot. Primož Roglič suffered but managed to bridge gaps every time he got dropped and kept his fourth place overall, 1:36 behind Pogacar.

Vingegaard adopted a conservative strategy and did not collaborate with Pogačar and Evenepoel when they had the possibility to break away from other top contenders.

"For sure I will remember," Pogačar said. "But everybody have their own race, I have nothing against it. I like to race with the heart and that was one of those days."

Asked whether he thought Vingegaard and his team were afraid of him, Pogačar replied: "I think they are scared of me and they just follow me."

Evenepoel was also critical of Vingegaard's strategy.

"It's a bit of a shame that Jonas did not take turns with us, because otherwise the race would have been over, we could have taken three or four minutes," Evenepoel said.

The peloton will enjoy its first rest day on Monday.

Tour pays tribute to André Drege

A group of cyclists in red stare silently at the camera, with the race leaders lined up behind them.

The Tour paid tribute to Norwegian rider André Drege, who died on Saturday after crashing in a downhill at the Tour of Austria.

To honour his memory, cyclists from the Norwegian team Uno-X Mobility arrived at the start line five minutes ahead of the start, with the rest of the peloton staying behind during a moment of applause.

There was a flurry of attacks from the start. A group of 10 riders including Turgis managed to escape before the first sector of gravel and were joined by a handful of counter attackers.

Behind, a traffic jam of riders formed at the foot of a very steep segment of white roads, with many competitors forced to dismount and to run up the climb. Vingegaard and Pogačar avoided the jam but Roglič  got dropped, lagging about 30 seconds behind at one point before he bridged the gap.

Vingegaard later suffered a mechanical problem and teammate Jan Tratnik gave his leader his bike. Pogačar then sped up the pace, followed by Evenepoel. The pair could not break away from the pack, though, and Vingegaard's Visma Lease A Bike teammates moved to the front to add to the frenetic pace.

The battle between the main contenders intensified when Evenepoel attacked with 78 kilometres left in the Côte de Chacenay. Pogačar and Vingegaard did not panic and managed to chase him down. Roglič, however, could not follow.

Still on his teammate's bike, Vingegaard did not take his turn in the lead as the trio joined the main break.

With Vingegaard refusing to collaborate, they finally slowed down and Evenepoel looked dejected by his rival's attitude.

"It's their tactics, there is nothing we can do," Evenepoel added.

Pogačar attacked again with about 20 kilometres left as Evenepoel and Roglič could not follow. Vingegaard, with the help of teammate Matteo Jorgenson, stayed in his wake. Again, Vingeaard did not take his turn and Pogačar stopped his effort.

Pogačar tried to go away one last time with eight kilometres left, but once again Vingegaard responded.

Made up of eight tracks, the group shows off their Hip-Hop chops right off the bat with the electric opener “MEGAVERSE” that refuses to relent in its three-minute runtime.

Over the next seven songs — which includes a rock version of the hit “LALALALA” the high energy eight-piece maintains that manic yet playful energy jumping from pop to Hip-Hop to love ballads with ease.

If you want to hear for yourself, you can find “ROCK-STAR”  here .

Since then, Stray Kids have dropped a pair of singles- “Lose My Breath” featuring Charlie Puth and “Why.” Click here to give them a spin.

Cruise on Sydney Harbour

Take a cruise on the Sydney Harbour for a first-row encounter with two of Australia's most iconic landmarks. Float under the majestic Harbour Bridge and marvel at the dynamic architecture of the Opera House. The best of the city swooped up in a gentle sail.

View spectacular outback sunsets at Uluru

With immense cultural significance and astonishing natural beauty, the sandstone monolith of Uluru is a highlight of any Australia vacation. Climb onto the back of a camel and navigate a portion of the rock's 10-kilometer circumference, before toasting the striking sunset with a glass of bubbles.

Discover Melbourne's eclectic street art

Australia's culture capital is a maze of narrow wine bars, Asian food markets and boutique-lined alleyways. Amidst it all, uncover colorful murals, brazen political statements and the work of acclaimed international artists. From AC/DC Lane to Centre Place, Melbourne will gift you a banquet of street art to appreciate.

Discover the secrets of ancient Aboriginal culture

Hear the Dreamtime stories of Australia's original landowners and begin to understand their 50,000-year connection with the land down under. Discover their rich heritage in the northern city of Darwin.

Travel to the Penguin Parade on the Phillip Island

It's no secret that Australians love to surf, but when a flapping penguin waddles out of the ocean, even locals squeal with joy. Venture to the southern coastline of Victoria to watch this nightly spectacle, as the beloved birds return from a busy day of fishing.

Our top 5 things to do in Australia

Take a trip to Australia with Trafalgar and we'll reveal the best these sunburnt lands have to offer. From the sparkling Sydney Harbour to the toddling penguin parade of Victoria, these are just some of the remarkable moments that re waiting for you.

Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney

Dive into a world of Maritime archaeology, migration and marine creatures at Sydney's Australian National Maritime Museum. With a 3D cinema, a prime location of Darling Harbour and numerous rotating exhibitions, this museum is one of the most interesting marine-themed things to do in Australia.

ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), Melbourne

The moving image unfurls in its many forms at Melbourne's ACMI museum. Peel back layers of digital culture with a highlight reel featuring the country's infatuation with film, TV and videogames. Spend an entire day on Flinders Street to uncover many of the city's best museums.

Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney

Take a journey into Australia's artistic culture from English settlement to the present day in the gallery often proclaimed the most important in the country. Found in a grand gothic building featuring eight sunlit halls, a day at the Art Gallery of New South Wales will connect you deeply to this part of the world.

Best museums in Australia

With a population of just 25 million and a formed history dating back just 120-years, it's easy to be surprised by the depth of culture found in Australia. With Trafalgar, you'll peel back the layers of this country by visiting these museums and many more.

A yeast-based spread that makes many travelers squirm, trying Vegemite is a must when you visit Australia. Though locals like to experiment with the ways they use this vitamin-rich spread, consume it on a piece of toasted bread atop plenty of butter for the most typical Vegemite experience.

An irresistible chocolate biscuit that is part of Australia's cultural fabric; eat one Tim Tam and you are likely to finish the entire packet. Available at any convenience store or supermarket around the country, pick up many trays to take home and share with friends.

Australian sporting events are scarcely complete until you consume a meat pie. A baked pastry dish available in countless modern variations, the traditional meat pie is filled with minced gravy and slathered in tomato sauce.

Best food in Australia

Though Australian food is typically recipes adopted from the rest of the globe, there are a few iconic staples not to miss. From the art of spreading Vegemite to the traditions of the meat pie, our Australia trips will guide you through the very best this country has to offer.

What to pack for Australia

People packing for a tour

An empty suitcase

Tim Tams aren't easy to locate beyond the skirts of Australia. Pack an empty suitcase so you can return home with supplies and sweet souvenirs for family and friends.

Australian currency

There's no leniency in Australia when it comes to paying in foreign currencies. Pack Australian dollars in cash to avoid the fees of teller machines and currency convertors.

Australia is known for giant spiders and snapping crocodiles. But it's more likely to be tiny flying insects that get in your way. Pack bug spray to keep mosquitos at arm's length.

Goggles and a snorkel

Home to the world's most highly regarded reef, packing goggles and a snorkel will mean you can explore Australia's underwater world until your heart is content.

Sun protection

Trips to Australia typically involve a lot of time in the sunshine. Pack a wide brim hat and sunscreen to stay protected from the country's notoriously harsh rays.

Ayers Rock (Uluru):

You will find this towering sandstone rock formation rising from the desert floor in the southern part of the Northern Territory of central Australia. It sits in a remote part of the Outback 208 miles southwest of the nearest large town, Alice Springs. The rock is one of Australia’s most recognizable natural landmarks and rises 1,142 feet… making it 2,381 feet above sea level.

Australia ms2

The most populous city in Australia is located on Australia’s east coast. This lively metropolis is surrounded by one of the world’s largest natural harbors. The first British settlers founded the city of Sydney in 1788, but it is said that the area had been inhabited for many years. Millions of tourists visit Sydney each year to see its natural features such as Sydney Harbour and Bondi Beach, as well as its man-made marvels like the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Australia ms3

The city was founded on August 30, 1835 and is located on a large natural bay – Port Phillip. Today it is often referred to as Australia’s cultural capital because of its renowned performing and visual arts scenes. Melbourne is known as the birthplace of Australian dance styles, the Australian film industry, Australian impressionist art and the Australian television industry.

Kakadu National Park:

This protected area in the Northern Territory of Australia is about 100 miles east of Darwin. It is the largest national park in Australia covering 7,646 square miles, and measuring nearly 125 miles from north to south and 62 miles from east to west. The park is roughly half the size of Switzerland. Kakadu features many diverse landscapes perfect for outback adventure travel, nature activities and most of all, experiencing aboriginal culture.

Great Barrier Reef:

Experience one of the seven wonders of the natural world when you set off by boat for the Great Barrier Reef. As the world’s largest living organism, you’ll find over 2,800 individual coral reef systems which are home to amazingly diverse marine life. Their bright colors look remarkable against the turquoise waters. Jump in the water to snorkel and really experience the Reef in an immersive way! Stroll along the shore, relax on the beach, or just watch the fish and sea turtles swim past from the pier. It’s a truly good day at the Reef, mate.

Australia md2

Barossa Valley:

The valley located in South Australia is known as a major wine-producing region. In fact, it is renowned as one of the finest wine producing regions in the world. Located about 37 miles northeast of Adelaide, the valley is formed by the North Pala River, is home to more than 550 growers, and is famous for its Shiraz.

Australia md3

This island state that includes the island of Tasmania and the surrounding 334 islands is 150 miles south of the Australian mainland, separated by the Bass Strait. Phillip Island Penguin Parade

The little penguin is the smallest species of penguin. They are found on the coastlines of southern Australia and New Zealand. In Australia they are often called fairy penguins and in New Zealand they are known as little blue penguins or blue penguins. These penguins emerge from the shore at Phillip Island nearly every evening and make their way to their evening resting spots.

Welcome to Australia

Marvels both natural and monumental astound throughout this "dreamtime" land down under... from the monolithic Ayers Rock (Uluru)... to a foodie tour in the multicultural melting pot of Sydney... to Australia's white-sailed landmark... and in the rainbow hues woven throughout the waters that make up the the Great Barrier Reef... the adventure begins here.

Sydney opera house, one of the world's most famous buildings... and more than just an opera house.

One of the most famous and recognizable structures dominating the skyline of iconic Sydney Harbour is the Sydney Opera House. With its striking modern expressionist design by Danish architect Jørn Utzon resembling a series of concrete "shells", it was completed in 1973 after nearly 15 years of construction, and has since become one of the world's most renowned buildings and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Not simply a single "opera house" as its name may imply, this major performing arts center houses numerous performance spaces including concert halls, theatres and recording studios, and is home to Opera Australia, the Australian Ballet, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Theatre Company.

Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the Outback

Aboriginal traditions and a natural wonder at uluru (ayers rock) in australia's "red centre".

Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock) is a massive red sandstone monolith rising dramatically out of the desert Outback (or "Red Centre") in Australia's Northern Territory, and is one of the country's most recognizable features and popular attractions. Sacred to the Pitjantjatjara Anangu, the local Aboriginal people of the region, Uluru is geologically classified as an inselberg (an "island mountain"); a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of Australia's Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, it's a natural wonder that will take your breath away…

The Great Barrier Reef

Discover australia's amazing great barrier reef.

Australia's Great Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is longer than the Great Wall of China, and considered the largest living thing on Earth. With a biology presentation and snorkeling demonstration en route, Tauck takes you on a cruise to the Outer Reef to swim, snorkel or sightsee in a glass-bottom vessel – or enjoy optional activities like scuba diving, helmet diving and more.

Sydney Harbour

There's no better way to experience iconic sydney harbour than aboard an evening cruise.

With its iconic skyline comprising some of the 20th century's most innovative architecture, Australia's Sydney Harbour is perhaps the most recognizable urban waterfront on Earth. Two of the Harbour's most remarkable "residents" include the striking Sydney Harbour Bridge – the world's tallest steel arch bridge, opened in 1932 and dubbed "The Coathanger" by locals due to its shape – and the Sydney Opera House, one of the world's most distinctive buildings since its completion in 1973 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There's no better way to enjoy the Harbour's highlights than aboard a private evening cruise featuring a reception and dinner.

Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park

Discover aboriginal traditions at tjapukai aboriginal cultural park in cairns.

Established in Cairns, Tropical North Queensland, in 1987, Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park has been sharing the authentic culture and traditions of the local Djabugay Aboriginal people for over three decades through performance, dance, cuisine and the arts. On your visit, you may learn how to "shake a leg" by joining in traditional performances, make fire without a matchstick, and create the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo.
