Vinewood Tour

The Vinewood Tour is a pastime available in Grand Theft Auto V operated by Vinewood Star Tours . The tour can be located outside the Wax Museum on Vinewood Blvd although only at certain times of the day. The player can go on the tour by approaching the tour bus and purchasing a ticket for $ 40. The tour lasts fifteen real-life minutes unless the player skips forward to the next location. A female tour guide talks about the area's sordid history (most of her anecdotes involve sexual or drug misadventures) and shows the passengers the local sites including a number of celebrity homes.

About a dozen locations are featured in the tour and during the drive between locations, the tour guide and passengers will make random remarks about Vinewood. One stop of note is the Epsilon Center , and the tour guide will reveal she is a member. She also reveals that she appeared in the film Last Will and Testament , although her line was cut, that she did a lot of 'shameful things' in her youth and that she has a daughter.

During the tour, the player can toggle between first-person or third person view; in third-person view the camera will automatically focus on highlighted locations; the first-person view offers only limited visibility due to the character sitting behind a wall of the bus. The tour ends at the same location from which it starts. Completing the bus tour is not necessary for 100% completion . Due to its length, generally starting the tour during daylight hours means much of the tour will take place after dark.

Gordon Henderson , a retired Vinewood actor, announced his plans to sue Vinewood Star Tours after his home was dropped from the tour. The Los Santos Superior Court, shortly after " The Merryweather Heist ", rule that Vinewood Star Tours must include Henderson's house on the tour.

The Tourbus is a cut-away open air version of the in-game Rental Shuttle Bus , and is built by Brute .

There is an in-game "Random Event", available to all three of the characters , which involves paying to ride the Tourbus on a trip around some of the points of interest in Vinewood .

The Tourbus cannot be stolen when it is situated at the Vinewood Tours Random Event location . If you try, the character will move rearward towards the passenger compartment and try to open a locked door there; the character will not interact with the doors in the driver's compartment at the front. The Tourbus can be stolen when it spawns randomly in traffic.

There is a second version of the Tourbus which may randomly spawn in traffic in the areas of Vinewood and Richman. Although it is slightly different from the open-air Tourbus used in the Random Event sightseeing tour, the on-screen text simply identifies it as "Tourbus, Service", same as the original open-air version. The passenger area is not open-air, as with the regular Tourbus, but is fully enclosed, and may contain several NPC passengers. (These passengers will disappear if the game is "Quick Saved" and that Save is then reloaded.)

Both Tourbus variants cannot be driven into in a player's 4-car garage and saved there. Also, they are too tall to fit in Franklin 's original Safehouse garage or in Trevor 's desert trailer home garage. However, they do fit in Michael 's Safehouse garage, although they are just slightly too long to allow the garage door to close normally. This doesn't prevent the Tourbus from being saved. If you leave the area and return later, the garage door will be closed and the Tourbus will be inside. 

The Tourbus will not enter Los Santos Customs or Beeker's Garage, eliminating the possibility of repairing or modding it. Also, the Tourbus can't be driven through a Carwash.

The rear panel of the Tourbus displays the telephone number 1-999-VIN-TOUR. Dialing the number connects you to a continuous loop of recorded music.

The default selection for the radio is "Off" when entering this vehicle .

Performance wise, this thing is an underpowered slug, and it has a very hard time dragging itself up the hills of Vinewood.

A recurring Random Event called the Bus Tour lets players see and learn about Los Santos’ most notable landmarks and allows players to “Stalk celebrities from the comfort of a bus.”

With all the fast-paced action brought by the main storyline missions, it is nice to sit back and marvel at Los Santos’ most memorable spots.

In this guide, we have outlined everything you need to know about the Bus Tour Random Event.

Bus Tour Random Event

The Bus Tour (or Tour Bus) Random Event is a recurring event in GTA 5 where you can ride a tour bus that takes you around 13 of Los Santos’ famous landmarks for just $40. Each Bus Tour will take about 15-20 minutes to complete depending on traffic conditions.

The tour consists mostly of drive-bys around celebrity homes and other notable landmarks around Los Santos. The tour starts at 7:00 am daily and ends at 7:00 pm the same day.

Despite being a daytime-only event, tours that start very close to the cutoff time will run through the evening until all 13 destinations are completed.

The Bus Tour Random Event is necessary for getting 100% completion in GTA 5. However, you only need to complete the Bus Tour once to get the achievement.

Where is the Bus Tour Event in GTA 5?

The Bus Tour Event can be spotted at the Vinewood Wax Haven along Vinewood Boulevard. Head to Up-n-Atom Burger between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm in-game, approach the Tour Bus, and look for the Vinewood Star Tour Guide waiting outside the Tour Bus to join the tour.

Make sure you join the tour between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm only, as the tours end at strictly 7:00 pm. Going to the tour start point beyond 7:00 pm will result in the tour bus leaving and the tour guide announcing the end of tours for the day.

The Bus Tour is guaranteed to drive through 13 landmarks around Los Santos. However, the true number is 19 if you count 6 minor points of interest that the tour guide points out throughout the tour.

How long does the Vinewood Tour take?

The Vinewood Tour takes around 10 in-game hours to complete or 15-20 minutes of your playtime. The tour duration can vary from one run to another, depending on traffic conditions along the tour bus route.

The tour will take you around Los Santos’ famous landmarks. The Gentry Manor Hotel, Richards Majestic Productions, and Oriental Theather are just three of 10 other landmarks you can expect to see during the tour.

If you start feeling like the tour is dragging on for too long, you can just use the Trip Skip function to fast-forward to the next destination along the tour route, or you can just exit the tour completely.

Can you buy the Tour Bus in GTA 5?

You cannot buy the Tour Bus in GTA 5, but you can acquire it through other means in-game. Like most vehicles in GTA 5, you can just look for the Tour Bus and steal it.

You can find the Tour Bus parked near the Oriental Theater along Vinewood Boulevard. The Tour Bus will also drive through the Richman neighborhood in the daytime. At night, the Tour Bus can be found parked at Vinewood Boulevard.

Completing the Bus Tour Random Event is required to get 100% completion in GTA 5, so it is important to know where you can find the Bus Tour and how you can join the tour in-game.

Listen closely to the tour guide throughout the tour to learn more about Los Santos and its many attractions; you might even get some interesting foreshadowing leading up to some of the main storyline missions in GTA 5.

How to Find and Join The Vinewood Car Club in GTA Online

In order to join and use The Vinewood Car Club, you will need to be a member of GTA+ which is the subscription service for GTA Online. The subscription itself will cost you $5.99 a month so if you are someone who needs to experience everything in Los Santos, then you will have to splash the cash for it. After you have GTA+ you can make your way to the actual location of The Vinewood Car Club.

The club is found on the South Docks and at the southeast corner of the entire map. It can be easy to miss because of just how far down it is. If you are ever near the airport then you will eventually spot it on the map. You can still enter The Vinewood Car Club and “inspect” vehicles if you don’t have a GTA+ subscription but you will get taken to a GTA+ promotion menu once you choose any options.

Note: You cannot use The Vinewood Car Club on PC since GTA+ is only available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players.

What Is The Vinewood Car Club For in GTA Online?

The Vinewood Car Club can be used for getting a free reward vehicle every month along with checking out any cars on showcase in the garage. You can opt to “Test Drive” the vehicles if you wish but then you can also pay for them at a discounted value. This can be useful for anyone who is wanting to add new vehicles to their collection.

Grand Theft Auto London [ ]

The design of the bus in both Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 and Grand Theft Auto: London 1961 is evidently based on that of the Double Decker (albeit slightly wider and shorter), which in turn is based on a Routemaster .

The Tour Bus features an open top deck, complete with visible passengers on the seat. Like the Double Decker, the vehicle is also constantly painted red.

Grand Theft Auto V and Online [ ]

The Tourbus returns in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online with a much different design, based on real-life tour buses operating in Los Angeles (bearing a similar color and scheme from those of Access Hollywood Tours ).

The Tourbus is depicted as a minibus based upon the Burrito cab, but having an extended chassis with a large, wide compartment on the back, similar to the Camper . This compartment has eight seats that passengers can use, and what appears to be two access doors (although these are not functional and the occupants simply warp directly to the rear seats). The rear end has four square tail lights on each side which are placed in a vertical positioning, consisting of the main, brake, turn and reverse lights. The Tourbus may appear either in an "open-top" form, which exposes the rear section from the sides and roof area, or in a "closed-in" form, having large windows on the sides. The van appears with a Light Smoke window tint applied by default. [1]

The Tourbus is only available in an all-blue livery with " Vinewood Star Tours " markings around the body and on the interior of the rear compartment, together with "12 amazing ports of call!" markings on the doors (changed to "20" in the enhanced version). In the files, however, it spawns in an all-white color, which is only visible on the inner trimmings of the doors and the rear compartment when the roof extra is not present. It uses the same industrial wheels from the Burrito and its derivatives.

The Tour Bus' performance is the same as that of the Double Decker , being poorer than that of the Coach in Grand Theft Auto , but exactly the same as the Coach in Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 . Being the one of the heaviest vehicles in the game (the same weight as GTA and GTA London 1969 's Coaches and the Double Decker), the bus is predictably slow, with a very poor top speed but average acceleration. The bus also possesses below average grip and handling, and average braking. Although game files reveal the bus has a lucrative base export value of £1,000, the Tour Bus cannot be exported due to its large size.

The vehicle performs poorly in all areas of handling; due to its size and weight, acceleration and top speed are mediocre. Handling leaves much to be desired, as it has a very wide turning radius and it suffers from understeer. Its soft suspension also leads to excessive body roll. Durability is average, as the bus can withstand a fair amount of abuse before its engine fails, and it can ram other cars off the road quite easily.

The vehicle appears to be powered by a transversely laid, double overhead camshaft Inline-4, which is stated to be a 4500cc (4.5L) Turbo Diesel engine similar to the Ambulance . The sound emitted when at idle and accelerating sounds like a typical low-revving diesel engine, similar to the Burrito and most vans. This would be vital considering how heavy the vehicle is.

• Seen around in London .
• Between 7:00 and 19:00, the Tourbus can always be found near the Oriental Theater in Vinewood Boulevard , Downtown Vinewood . The Vinewood Star Tour Guide will be waiting outside for passengers and the player can enter the bus to take the tour.
• The bus can be seen driving around Richman .
• Appears as a part of scripted traffic during the car chase in the mission Father/Son .
• The closed-in version will usually be found parked on Vinewood Boulevard during evening hours when the tour is not active. This vehicle is unlocked and can be easily stolen.
• The open-top version is occasionally found parked away from Vinewood Boulevard during daytime hours.

Grand Theft Auto Online [ ]

• Both closed-in and open-top versions will often spawn parked (and unlocked) on Vinewood Boulevard, east of the Oriental Theater and next to a corner souvenir shop (this is further east than where it usually spawns in story mode).
• In the original version of the game, the flags on the cab doors are upside down. This error was corrected in the enhanced version .
• The Tour Bus, the Stallion , the Stinger , the Z-Type , the Panto , the Furore GT , the Mamba , the Penetrator , the Itali GTB , the Impaler , the Itali GTO , the Locust , and the Jugular are the only vehicles, aside from emergency and special vehicles, that appeared in the 2D Universe and in the HD Universe .

Description

Vinewood Star Tours gives the player tours around celebrity homes and some landmarks around Vinewood and Richman using a Tour Bus , which according to the Grand Theft Auto V website, has no air-conditioning. Tours cost $ 40 in GTA V , and are not available in GTA Online .

Starting a tour is available from outside Vinewood Wax Haven on Vinewood Boulevard next to Up-n-Atom Burger between 7 am and 7 pm daily. Approaching the start point between 7 pm and 8 pm or between 6 am and 7 am may result in the player seeing the bus drive off and the guide announcing that the tours have closed for the day. [2] Depending on traffic and traffic lights encountered, tours can take up to ten in-game hours. Tours started later in the day can therefore continue late into the night.

If the player calls the 1-999-VIN-TOUR as advertised on the back of the bus, some music will play until the player ends the call.

The tour guide is a member of the Epsilon Program , as she will comment on how it changed her life while pointing out the Epsilon Building to the passengers, happily saying "Kifflom!".

She often advises passengers to take out their cameras and smartphones to take photos of landmarks, even though a "no pictures" sign is visible inside the bus cabin, although she does explain the "no smoking" policy, but allows exceptions for medicinal marijuana.

The player always takes a seat directly behind the walled-off driver compartment. Unfortunately, this results in a very limited view with the first person camera option (or with Snapmatic ).

The player can use a version of Trip Skip during the tour to jump to the next key destination and can exit the tour at any time.

It is a requirement to participate in at least one bus tour to complete all the 57 random events in the game and thus it can be one of the 14 to count towards achieving 100% Completion in GTA V .

The tour bus originally advertised "12 amazing ports of call" and this was increased to 20 in the Enhanced Version although the tour camera only focuses on the same 13 attractions in both versions.

• Prostitutes can offer their services while the player is a passenger on the tour bus, only for the player to turn them down.
• It's a good idea to take the tour early in the game as not only does it help familiarize the player with that part of the city, the stories told by the tour guide provide backstory and foreshadowing for later missions.
