planning to have 4-5 families together on Aug13th-15th long weekend. 13th being Rakhi, people can leave only by 2 pm, therefore looking for decent resort destination, within 15K for 2N/3D and up to 2 hrs drive....suggestions welcome

The main destination for a 2 hour drive is neemrana, but the only major accomodation is the neemrana fort there and I'm not sure of their current rates.
Adding an hour to your drive can lead you to Agra, where you can find many attractions as well as accomodations in your budget. I last went there by road in January and the drive was a breeze.
If you are looking for a resort to chill, try googling Oasis resorts and Haveli.

My favourite website for this is :
http://www.nivalink.com/delhi/getaways.html
Lots of ideas in there....

Not exactly at 2 hours drive but you may think of Lansdowne....It's a cute little hill station. And unlike other hill stations here construction activity is strictly under army control. Hence, it;s still very scenic and devoid of concrete jungle that Shimla and Mussorie have become.
you also can think of Nimrana. A very beautiful palace to stay and to enjoy the rural life near to delhi. you can also do zipping organized but a british company flying fox
No. 1 Mud Fort Kutchesar
No 2: Neemrana - but it is nowadays a bit expensive.
