As many of you know by now Labadee Haiti is RCCL’s private peninsula. It is a fairly large peninsula with 4 main beaches, Barefoot beach is only for suite guests or cabana rentals, the other ones are open for everyone to use. As you can imagine any shore excursion in this port will sponsored by RCCL as there are no private tour operators here, so expect to pay the premium that the line will require.
List of Labadee Excursions:
- Aqua Water Park, 1hr $15
- Cabana rentals start at $225
- Adrenaline coastal Tour $49
- Dragon’s breath Zip Line $94
- Labadee Water slide $20
- Dragon’s Tail Coaster $21
- Kayak Adventure $38
- Snorkeling Adventure $49
- Jets Ski tour, 1 hr $95
Those are pretty much the prices you will be seeing in this port. The good news is that since this is basically an extension of the ship, the food is free, and you can use your card to purchase your drinks. There are several bars, and buffet grill areas scattered throughout the island. That way you’re not required to walk a lot if you don’t want to. Talking about walking, for those like me who don’t like it, they offer a tram ride that goes from the main circle all the way to Columbus beach making stops in the way. This is ideal, as the heat in Haiti can be very intense, and by the time your day is over you want to do very little walking.
Here is the Labadee Cabana Map

Labadee Haiti Zip Line
This Tram will take you all around Labadee Haiti for free.
Labadee Haiti is a very nice island getaway, but it comes with a few flaws. For those of you looking into snorkeling, this stop offers little very little in that aspect. The beaches tend to be cloudy, and seaweed can be abundant, I struggled to find few groups of fish. Another big problem that seems to bother many, is how rocky the beaches are. They are loaded with shells and rocks, I seriously recommend bringing water shoes to make it easier on your feet.
Labadee Haiti Water park and Water slide.
Labadee Haiti Map
The lounges and clam shells are free, however when you ask a local to set it up for you they expect a tip. If for some reason some people are not giving them a tip, they will ask for it, and until they get it. I recommend you bring singles, I knew about the tip ahead of time, and I had brought money. But when I got there I realized I only had large bills, I asked him if he had a change and he said yes. After he was done setting it up, he told me he had no change, I ended up tipping much more than is normally tipped.
For those of you looking for a stop that includes cultural sighting of Haiti, this is not the port for you. You will learn very little about their culture in this stop. The peninsula is fenced in, and security guards stand near the fence ensuring that the locals do not trespass into the property. It is a very sad situation to be in, some people like me feel odd in this kind of situations. That is why I chose to stay far from the fence so I don’t have to witness that.
Short Labadee Review
We have been there twice already, the second time unfortunately we had horrible weather, and we could not do that much. Overall the peninsula will offer lots to do for people of all ages, it can be a great inexpensive stop or a very expensive one if you choose to do so. If you are thinking about a Western Caribbean cruise and it stops in Labadee Haiti, I am sure you will a great time. Just don’t expect much in the snorkeling department :D. I have a tone more information about Labadee in my Allure review, as well as Labadee Haiti pictures, for that please click on the link below.

Excursions on cruises almost always have a zippy and electrifying element to them. From guided walking tours led by local experts to horseback riding amongst breathtaking sights and devouring aromatic foods — excursions are where it’s at. In particular, Royal Caribbean excursions never lack this exhilarating component.
Ladabee, Haiti is a alluring port-city owned by Royal Caribbean. It’s a popular stop in the Eastern Caribbean by this cruise line. My mom and I docked here on day 3 while aboard the Wonder of the Seas cruise — the largest cruise ship in the world .
In this guide, you’ll find the must-do shore excursion, a quick peep at the weather in Labadee, Haiti to help you prep for your trip and other things to do besides excursions.
But before you head-out to the island, make sure to grab a big breakfast to fuel up for the day! If you’re a cruiser with have food allergies, here’s a some practical tips for a more allergy-friendly cruise.
Feel free to jump ahead!
Weather for Labadee, Haiti
Map of labadee, haiti and list of royal caribbean excursions, dragon’s breath zip line, dragon’s tail coaster, labadee historic walking tour, rent a cabana, lounge at the beach, ride the trolley train for fun or to your royal caribbean excursions, sip on a labadoozie (in-between royal caribbean excursions), dine at the all you can eat buffet, buy a souvenir or explore the shops, snap photos on the beach swings, take a dip in the refreshing ocean, play an outdoor sport or sign up for sporty royal caribbean excursions, more wellness travel resources.

Labadee, Haiti weather is overall really great! Since the island of Haiti is located in the Caribbean, the climate ranges from hot to extremely hot, with high levels of humidity. The hottest months according to Accuweather , are April to October with average temperatures between 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit. While the cooler months range from November to March and are around 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Besides, don’t expect the temperature to drop too much during any month around nightfall. Typical night temperature range from 60 -70 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus you’ll probably be were on the boat before nightfall, so shorts, dresses, and short sleeves shirts are all recommended.
All around, it’s safe to expect the weather in Ladabee, Haiti to be decent. However, pack a light raincoat just in case it rains! That lush island didn’t become verdant green from only sunlight.
Here’s a map of the island to help you get your bearings. You can easily find this map on the once you arrive.

The best paid Royal Caribbean excursions
Below you’ll find a list of the best shore excursions on Royal Caribbean. Keep in mind the prices vary depending on the Royal Caribbean excursion. Additionally, some excursions will have longer wait lines depending on the time of day. My advice — get to Labadee early on to make the most of your day.

Dragon’s Breath Zip Line wins the title of being the worlds longest zip line over the ocean. Rated by Trip Advisor as the number one thing to do in Labadee, Haiti — this Royal Caribbean excursion is hands down my favorite. It’s exhilarating, thrilling and offers a panoramic view of the port and lush green mountains. From here the cruise ship looks tiny!
In order to ride Dragon’s Breath, you’ll have to first pass the smaller zip line. Here the staff with go over safety positions and teach you how to brace at the end of the zip line. This zip line is quite smaller compared to the actual Dragon’s Breath Zip Line.

After, you’ll hop on a bus and journey up the mountainside to the zip lining take off area. Five people are allowed to ride together at one time. If you’re planning to take a GoPro, iPhone, or camera, make sure you have a strap. The staff may not let you use it if you don’t, or you run the chances of it falling in the ocean.
Keep in mind this is one of the most popular Royal Caribbean excursions, so if you’re an adventurous spirit, book this asap. If you wait until you dock at the port, you’ll run the chance of not being able to book this experience.
While it’s on the pricier side of excursions on cruises, I highly recommend it! It’s extremely fun with insane views and it goes at a slow to moderate speed.

Rated 4.5 on Trip Advisor, this alpine roller-coaster glides down the verdant mountainside showcasing spectacular views of the port-city. It’s another one of my favorite Royal Caribbean shore excursions, along with the zip line.
What’s unique about this tail coaster is it’s semi self-operated. Meaning the crew managing the controls get you to the top, but ultimately you operate the coaster going downhill. You’ll have two brake-handles, one on the left and one on right side. With the handles you’ll be able to control the speed going down.
For the thrillist, push the handles all the way down for a fast cascade down the mountainside. Don’t be alarmed if you giggle and scream as you make your way down the lush forest. The ride is invigorating and amusing with several twists and turns! Also, expect to see gorgeous views.
If you’re planning on riding the coaster get there early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the long lines. I went later in the afternoon and there was absolutely no line! Also if you’re trying to go pedal to the metal, try to not ride behind someone wanting a slower coaster ride. This will cause your coaster to go slower as well to avoid a collision.
Lastly, have fun and bring a wrist strap if you’re planning on taking a video.

Another one of the Royal Caribbean excursions is the Labadee Historic Walking Tour. Since I participated in the other Royal Caribbean shore excursions, I wasn’t able to attend the walking tour. However, I’ve heard great things about this tour as you’ll get to learn in-depth facts, the history of this beautiful port-city and the Labadee Village from a local expert.
Additionally, the tour lasts about one hour. If you’re planning on attending the tour, book this ahead of time to secure a spot.
However, if you’re short on time and are an adventure junkie — just stick with the roller coaster and zip line.
Other things to do besides Royal Caribbean excursions
If shore excursions aren’t your speed, don’t worry. There’s plenty to do on the island besides experiencing the thrilling excursions. Below you’ll find a handful of activities to do in Haiti Ladabee.

Craving a more private experience after the cruise to Haiti? Then renting a cabana is probably your pace. The cabanas are extremely relaxing and right near the water. Lounge on the couches or beach chairs while sipping a Labadoozie (a classic island drink created by Royal Caribbean). Take a nap or hop into the ocean to cool down from the Haitian heat.

Relaxing beach-side is one of the best free things to do in Labadee, Haiti. I highly recommend bringing towels from your stateroom, so you don’t have to hunt around for towels while you’re on the island. You’ll save time and will have more time to chill, swim, eat and repeat.

Located at the front of the port of Labadee, Haiti, hop on the trolley train to reach various spots at the port faster. It’s a completely free and a fun way to explore the island by car.

Labadoozie — the famed and official drink of Labadee Royal Caribbean’s private island. This drink is truly refreshing after spending the day playing in the sun. It’s a sweet frozen drink consisting of three main ingredients — citrus fruits, rum and a bunch of ice.
Specifically the citrus fruit mix is a combination of oranges, papaya and pineapple, while the rum is mixture of dark rum and coconut rum. Add a splash of grenadine, a handful of ice and you’re set with a revitalizing drink for bumming it on the beach.
You can find the official recipe here .

Here you’ll find a variety of options to choose from. There’s fresh fruit — pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe — cookies, rice, salad, ribs, chicken, burgers and more. For vegan and gluten-free folks, keep in mind I did have to ask for food. Just walk up to the head chef, tell them about your food preferences and they’ll let you know the options they have.
If you’re super concerned about food options, I’d eat a hearty breakfast at the Windjammer aboard Wonder of the Seas (or whatever ship you’re on ). Also, I’d throw some travel snacks into your day pack to hold you over till dinnertime. Here’s a go-to list of easy snacks to bring aboard .
Lastly, the lunch lines get long here so avoid the lunch crowd by enjoying an early or late lunch.

For those wanting some retail therapy at the beach, Labadee has a quaint shopping area filled with shirts, souvenirs and more. There are two shopping areas. One is right by the port, while the other is located more towards the beach area. Take the trolley train there or feel free to walk from the dock.

You’ll find three sets of beach swings to leisurely enjoy around this port-city. If you’re planning on participating in cruise excursions, I’d save a stop by this instagram-worthy location in Columbus Cove later on during the day.
Also going later in the day makes it more ‘gram-worthy’ since it’s a popular photo-op spot and they’ll be less people likely to photo bomb. Or head to Adrenaline Beach, because this swing tends to be less crowded.

Hop in the Caribbean sea to enjoy the warm waters under the tropical ambiance. Surrounding the turquoise water beach you’ll find gorgeous green painted mountains. Swim a couple laps to maintain your wellness at sea or save your workout time for the well-equipped fitness center.
Also, swimming is an excellent year-round activity as the weather in Labadee, Haiti is overall warm.
Either way, I highly recommend getting at least your toes in the water. Also, for kids there is a floating water jungle gym. I was definitely thinking about giving it a go, as it looked quite entertaining with bouncing areas, mini climbing blow up walls, and more.
For the big kids at heart, give it a whirl and feel free to report back!

There’s an abundance of sports activities to try at Labadee! You’ll find kayaking ( a paid excursion ), volleyball courts, basketball courts, a soccer field and much more.
Overall I loved my experience in Labadee, Haiti and setting sail aboard the worlds largest ship , Wonder of the Seas . However, it’s important to note this area is owned by Royal Caribbean. If you’re expecting to experience “true Haiti”, you will have to save that for another trip and slow travel through Haiti.

Things to Do in Labadee Haiti
Posted on Published: 04/15/2023 - Last updated: 06/06/2023
When I was invited to sail on the maiden voyage of Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas , I was especially excited about the itinerary. In addition to Nassau, Perfect Day at CocoCay , and San Juan Puerto Rico (all fantastic destinations I’d already experienced), our first port of call was Labadee Haiti. I’d never been there and was thrilled to explore this private area of Haiti for myself.
Disclosure: My sailing on the Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas was complimentary for purposes of review. All opinions are my own.

Where is Labadee?
Labadee is a port of call along the north coast of Haiti that is privately leased by Royal Caribbean International as an exclusive destination. When cruise passengers visit Labadee, they are able to explore the private resort area (which is fenced-in), but excursions don’t go beyond Labadee.
Private excursions aren’t offered. However, Labadee is not a private island – it’s actually part of the mainland of Haiti.
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises both offer Labadee as a port of call. Currently, some of the cruise ships that visit the port (not on all sailings, however) include Independence of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas, and Harmony of the Seas. This is always subject to change based on the itineraries.

Areas to Enjoy in Labadee
We were already docked at Labadee when we woke up for the day on board the Wonder of the Seas. I was surprised to see how hilly and mountainous it is. I definitely recommend walking around the ship until you can get a great panoramic view of the port – the natural landscape of Labadee is beautiful and photo-worthy.
It’s a short walk off the pier to the Dragon’s Plaza, the entry point of Labadee. Here, you can get a great view of the ship from a distance, meet for certain excursions, and watch the over-water zip line.
There are several beach areas on Labadee, and they are all great for different purposes. We asked for the best sunbathing area and were guided to Nellie’s Beach. This sandy area offers beach chairs and umbrellas, along with gorgeous cabanas and beach bungalows (including overwater cabanas) that can be rented in advance for the day.
The water here was still a bit chilly (it was early March, after all) but did warm up after a few minutes.I really liked the Nellie’s Beach area as a place to relax in one of the lounge chairs and enjoy a good book.
If you prefer a little more activity, head to Adrenaline Beach. Here, you can sit in an overwater swing, swim out to the floating bar, and enjoy some time in a beach chair. There are also bocce and basketball courts. I enjoyed some time sitting in the shade at Adrenaline Beach.
While I had brought a book to read, I put it aside in favor of watching the zip liners go over the water. This area is also where you’ll find the Dragon’s Tail Coaster.
Further down on the island is Columbus Cove. This area is home to the Arawak Aqua Park and also offers beach chairs and umbrellas, floating mats, a cafe, bars, and more. It’s the farthest beach from where the ship docks.
The town square section is where you’ll find the artisans (including the artisan market), gift shop, first aid station, and more. It’s located adjacent to Adrenaline Beach.
Younger kids may enjoy Splash Bash, a water splash area located along Dragon’s Beach. In this area, you’ll also find beach lounger rentals, a volleyball court, and an area to rent floating mats.
Guests staying in a Grand Suite or above can enjoy a special area. The Barefoot Beach Club is available to those guests as well as those who have reached Pinnacle status in the Crown and Anchor Club.

Activities and Excursions in Labadee
Like with other ports of call, excursions, and activities for your day in Labadee, Haiti can be purchased and reserved in advance through the cruise line. Some of these shore excursions are very popular and do sell out. Book as soon as possible for the best availability, especially if you want a private cabana.
Unlike other ports of call, the official excursions are the only ones you can do at Labadee. You aren’t able to travel beyond the fenced-in resort area to do your own excursion.
Here are some examples of activities and excursions you can book.
- Boat ride to Amiga Island for a beach day
- Beach bungalow rental
- Beach Cabana rental (including overwater and waterfront cabanas on Nellie’s Beach)
- Beach Lounger for two rental
- Rental of floating beach mats
- Speed boat trip
- Kayak tours
- Historical walking tour of Labadee
- Sip and paint excursion – I walked past this while I was there and saw them enjoying the shade while each painting a pot to take home.
- Snorkel tour
- Jet ski ride
- Fishing trip

Dragon’s Fire Flight Line and Dragon’s Breath Flight Line Zip Lines
The biggest regret of my Wonder of the Seas trip is missing the Labadee zip line rides. It looked like such a fun ride, with gorgeous Labadee views. There are two styles of ziplines – one is a more traditional line where your feet are pointed towards the ground, and the other is where you are suspended horizontally (Superman style).
With both zip lines, you’ll have to store your items with a friend that isn’t riding, or in a locker. You’ll also need to wear closed-toed shoes and go through a safety briefing. Don’t forget to pack your closed-toed shoes if you are hoping to do this.
Dragon’s Tail Coaster
I was glad to be able to experience the Dragon’s Tail Coaster, a mountain coaster that winds down the side of one of the lush hills over Labadee. I wasn’t sure of what to expect, but this coaster is similar in style to the ones I’ve ridden at Epic Discovery in Vail and at Attitash Mountain in New Hampshire .
After watching a brief safety video, you’ll board the ride vehicle. There is room for two passengers, although it’s best for an adult and a child, rather than two adults. Cubbies by the ride entrance are available for you to store your bags, but they don’t lock.
The ride vehicle is pulled automatically up the hill until you reach the top. Then, you’ll use the braking mechanism to either go faster or slow down. While it’s very fun to go fast right away, take the time to look around at the gorgeous scenery.
Dragon’s Splash Waterslide and Arawak Aqua Park
The Dragon’s Splash Waterslide is a 300-foot saltwater waterslide located in the Columbus Cove area of Labadee. I didn’t see anyone on it while I was there, but it does look like a fun slide.
There’s also the Arawak Aqua Park, an inflatable water park in the Columbus Cove area. These in-water inflatables would be a really fun option for families with kids old enough to enjoy jumping around.
Food on Labadee
Food on Labadee is included in your cruise. There are several restaurants and you can expect to find things like burgers, hot dogs, salads, fresh fruit, and more. Full-service bars are located along the various beaches, and some of the beach areas also have servers to bring your drink right to your beach chair.

Tips for Visiting Labadee
If you’ve purchased a beverage package on the ship, it will work at Labadee. Make sure you try one of their signature Labadoozies, which can be made with or without rum! If you don’t have a drink package, you can use your SeaPass package to purchase items a la carte.
While theoretically, Voom Internet should work on the island, we found that it wasn’t working in the area we were sitting in. So be prepared for that.
Beach chair attendants are available to escort you to the best beach chairs available. They accept tips so have small US bills available with you if you’d like to offer a gratuity.
Don’t forget to bring beach towels off the ship so you have them at Labadee. Used towels can be dropped off at the hut in Dragon’s Plaza.
There are both mild and more adventurous walking paths in Labadee. A tram is available if you’d prefer not to walk. It is a pretty big area, so you may want to take the tram, even if just on the way back. There are several tram stops at Labadee.
We found the artisans to be fairly aggressive, so be prepared. They don’t accept SeaPass or credit cards. There’s also a gift shop in Town Square that does accept credit cards.
We found Labadee to be very hot. Make sure you have packed sunscreen, a cover-up, and a hat for your day. Pack as you would for any beach resort.
Unless you have booked a snorkel trip, you should bring your own snorkel gear if you’ll want to use it on Labadee.
If you are planning to do the zip line, lockers are available in several locations. You’ll also need to make sure you have closed-toed shoes. While bags can’t be brought on the Dragon’s Tail Coaster, there are (unlocked) cubbies available to store your items. Open-toed shoes can be worn on the coaster.

No pricing? Although it was free for you, it would be nice to get a general idea of the cost.

Labadee is a stop on some itineraries - the prices of these cruises will all vary depending on the ship, number of nights, and number of guests. It's included in the cruise, so if your ship stops there you don't have to pay to go - just for the extras like alcohol, excursions (zipline, coaster, etc, and cabanas).

Just visited Labadee in May,2022 and the water was perfect for swimming at Adrenaline Beach. While in the water I found a coral piece in the shape of Mickey mouse ears! What a rare find and those nearby even commented on it. Visiting Haiti was a real experience as well as shopping at the market stalls.
