Get your heart pumping! The Intermediate Level requires some physical activity. Basic instruction or guidance from the Express Watersports crew may be required before starting this activity.

Woo-hoo! The Advanced Level requires the most physical activity. Special training or certifications may be required.

Kayak Rentals in Murrells Inlet

Our Murrells Inlet/Myrtle Beach kayak rentals and tours offer a wealth of knowledge, fun, and exploration! We invite you to enjoy a scenic paddle through the Murrells Inlet tidal marsh of South Carolina. Enjoy the vast wildlife and fascinating history of Murrells Inlet!

We rent single and double kayaks by the hour and you may explore the Inlet on your own! No reservations required. Kayaks are already on the dock and ready to go.  All you need to do is sign in grab a paddle and a jacket and off you go to the docks. Super easy rentals.

Single Kayaks: $15/hr or $40/half day

Double Kayaks: $20/hr or $50/half day

Sunrise Guided Kayak Tours

Kayak Guided Tours with our own private naturalist will take you on a scenic journey through the marsh, while you take in the salty air and beautiful scenery on our Kayak Tour. Your friendly and knowledgeable naturalist will teach you about the history of Murrells Inlet as well as the vast amount of wildlife that call the Inlet home.

Our tours allow you to explore the immensely productive saltwater ecosystem of Murrells Inlet on a naturalist-guided tour.  Inhabiting the cord grass marshes is a rich fauna of clams, crabs, shrimp and oysters with a host of bird species from Pelicans to Egrets. Your guide will show you around and makes sure you visit key points of interest.

It is recommended that guests wear swimming attire . You may get wet! Guests may encounter waves or boat wakes that may cause the kayak to tip over. Guest should be prepared for tipping as this does happen. Guest should be physically able to pull themselves back up in the kayak or swim to shore with the kayak to empty it of water.  Please note that to participate, guests must be a minimum of 5 years of age and not exceed 250 pounds. Guests will be required to sign a waiver to participate. Please note that each activity must meet a minimum number of participants.

***Note: Women who are pregnant may not participate. Guests with heart, lung or back problems may not participate. Guests who have been drinking alcohol or under the influence of drugs may not participate***

Do we need a reservation to kayak at Express Watersports?

Hourly self guided kayak rentals do not require a reservation. Kayaks are available on a first come-first serve basis.

Reservations are required for the 1.5 hour Guided Kayak Tour. Reservations can be made online or by calling 843-357-7777. All reservations must arrive 30 minutes before departure time so that we may check your group in.

What is the cancellation policy for the Guided Kayak Tour?

We require 24 hours notice of cancellation in order for us to refund you. If you cancel within 24 hours or are a 'No Show' you will be charged the the full amount.

Do you have restrooms?

Yes. Express Watersports is a full service watersports center. We have restrooms, showers and changing rooms for use after your kayak adventure.

Where do we park?

We have free parking at our watersports center. Please lock all valuables in your car.

What about weather conditions in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet?

Weather conditions come and go in Myrtle Beach. For a Guided Kayak Tour, the Tour Guide may either cancel or delay a trip if weather conditions are unfavorable. Rain squalls usually move through quickly. If the Guide cancels the trip there is no charge. If you are able to reschedule we will try again next available time, or if you prefer, we will give you a full refund.

Do we sign waivers?

Waivers are required. If the participant is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian is required to sign for the minor.

How long is the rental?

Kayaks are rented by the hour. We also have half day and full day rentals available. The guided tours are 1.5 hours long.

What is the minimum age?

For kayakers to paddle on their own they should be 12 years of age.

What is the weight limit?

Do we need to know how to kayak.

No! It’s very easy. We will give you an introductory briefing of our area, a recommended route and instruction on how to paddle.

What is included in the rental?

Kayak, life jacket, paddle

Do we wear shoes or flip flops?

We recommend you wear some type of shoes to the dock and then remove them and leave them on our private dock or in your kayak.

Can we get out of the kayak and explore?

Yes. Please be aware of oyster shells which will cut your feet. We recommend wearing hard sole shoes to prevent cuts.

Also be aware of Pluff Mud. This is a very soft mud which may allow one to sink to their knees and possibly lose a shoe.

What if we get lost?

We recommend you carry a phone in a dry bag and call us if you’re lost. We will always find you.

Will the kayak tip over?

They can tip over but it is not very common. Just remember: do not stand up in your kayak! If you tip the boat over, don’t panic. Swim to the nearest island with the kayak, dump the water out and get back in.

I need to rent a kayak but my friend has his own. Can he put in on your docks?

Please ask the staff. Depending upon the traffic on our boat docks at times it may be possible. There is a Public Boat Ramp one block away where your friend can put in their kayak and paddle to meet you at our dock. If their kayak is allowed to put in at our docks, your friend will just need to sign a waiver and take his/her boat over to the dock.

Can I bring my dog or dogs in the kayak?

Yes. We love dogs!

Can we fish out of the kayak?

Yes! However you will need your own South Carolina Saltwater Fishing License. Kayak fishing is quite popular.

What kind of kayaks do you have?

We have “sit in” style kayaks. They are very stable in the water.

PGA TOUR Myrtle Beach Classic tickets on sale Thursday

Tickets will go on sale for the PGA TOUR's Myrtle Beach Classic on Thursday.

The newly formed dual-field tournament will be held from Thursday, May 9 through Sunday, May 12 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. 

Attendees have the option of purchasing daily and weekly general admission tickets, daily Clubhouse tickets and weekly Club 18 Shared Hospitality tickets. 

The Clubhouse admission, which is limited to 100 per day,  gives ticketholders access to the club’s ballroom lounge featuring various amenities. 

The Club 18 Shared Hospitality option includes food and drinks and offers open-air viewing directly behind the 18th green.

LOCAL:  Charleston County Parks offers dragon boating at Holiday Festival of Lights

Admission for children aged 15 and younger is free with the accompaniment of an adult ticketholder. There is a limit of four complimentary child tickets per ticketed adult.
