DESCRIPTION

Why you should go.

Includes a 2-hour rental in single person kayak. If you would prefer a tandem kayak, simply ask when you arrive (dependent on availability). Children under the age of 14 are not allowed to participate. Children 14 – 17 years old must be accompanied by someone 18 years or older. Zero exceptions allowed. Lifejackets and basic instruction is included.

One of the most wonderful ways to discover the secrets of Shem Creek’s tidal marsh or any number of other waterways in Charleston is from the seat of a single or tandem kayak. Renting a kayak will give you ample opportunity for exploring almost all of Shem Creek, Bayview Creek, and possibly (with the tide’s cooperation) also Crab Bank Island’s surroundings just outside of Shem Creek. Kayaking offers good times for Mount Pleasant groups large or small. Drift away on the tides and breeze, or make an athletic excursion of your paddle to cover as much area as you can- the experience is what you make it. Either way, we recommend closely following the advice of your experienced ramp guides to determine the best routes based on current conditions.

Historic Shem Creek With its rich history, it’s no wonder that Shem Creek is considered a landmark locale in the Charleston area. A long-time commercial fishing and shrimping lane, Shem Creek has plenty of “big fish” stories to tell. The sights you see along your adventure will be uniquely crafted to accommodate tides, weather conditions, and the paddling preferences of your group. Calmly swaying alongside the upper creek are majestic Live Oak trees. Gliding by, you may see American Oystercatchers, Great Blue Herons, and Great Egrets, and depending on the timing of the low tides, even remnants of rice mills can be seen. Witness the varied wildlife in the pluff mud along the creek’s edges hunting for a meal among the oyster beds. Making your way down the creek toward the Charleston Harbor will guide you to the iconic Red’s Ice House, which in the height of Shem Creek’s commercial days provided ice for roughly 120 fishing and shrimp boats daily. Another iconic scene you won’t want to miss is Crab Bank Island, a protected band of sand falling under the jurisdiction of the Department of Natural Resources. Migratory birds mate on this island from mid-March to mid-October annually, and accordingly, no human foot traffic is allowed during this season. On the shallow side of the island near Mount Pleasant, you can often find jumping mullet, playing dolphins, and even manatees meandering about in the warm water. From this very spot, you can also enjoy the landscape with such sights as the Ravenel bridge, the downtown Charleston peninsula, Mount Pleasant Old Village, and historic Fort Sumter, Fort Johnson, and Castle Pinckney.

Our tour pass was worth the price. It's actually a money saver. We took the tour of St Augustine and got our bearings. It also helped us select the attractions. The drivers were pleasant, very helpful, and steeped in St Augustine history. Simply wonderful!

This made our Savannah trip so much easier to plan and to see all the attractions we wanted. It saved me over $100. In three days, we were able to visit all the places we wanted plus more! I would highly recommend buying this tour pass!

My husband and I went to St. Augustine for 2 days and wanted to see as much as possible. By using TourPass we were able to see the most popular attractions at a greatly reduced price. I would definitely use TourPass in other cities!

Purchasing a Tour Pass was the best decision for us! We saw many more attractions that we would have without it! So efficient too! Pay once and go, go, go! We would highly recommend it!

I purchased the Savannah tour pass for 3 days, I did not use them consecutively, as I was on town for 8 days. I chose to do the Hop on Hop off Tour on my first day to give me an overview of Savannah, I rode the trolleys for a total of two loops, guide offered a different perspective on the city. I took a walking tour, Brad was awesome, 1.5 hrs of wonderful history. I rode the Paddle boat, was a bit disappointed the wheel doesn't function. I also visited Fort Pulaski on my last day in Savannah, it was a wonderful experience. Those were the 4 featured options I used. I also used multiple options from the normal options, my 2 favorites were the Square Pops and the Jepsen Art Center. I cannot express how awesome it was to be able to enter a venue, have it paid for, and just enjoy. I will purchase the Savannah Pass when I return next year, it was well worth it's value. Now I am hopeful the Charleston, SC Pass, that it is just as terrific, as I am visiting in the Fall.

This was awesome value for the money, we were in both places the first week in March with another couple and it made planning things to do much easier and the value was outstanding. We figure we saved about $100 per couple.

We purchased the two day St. Augustine TourPass and found the pass well worth the money, providing us with access to museums and tours we might have passed on had we had to pay full price to see without the pass. Highly recommend purchasing, especially if in the area for several days.

So easy! Tour passed saved us over $200 dollars. Just scan your phone and enjoy. Great way to visit St. Augustine.

Tour Pass made our trip so easy to navigate. Easy check in at all our locations! Saved us a lot of time.

My contact at Tour Pass for both Savannah and Charleston was a gentleman named Keith. He went above and beyond to help me in setting up the events/days and was extremely patient with a non-technologically adept mature individual like me. He helped every time I called and was always charming while doing so which reduced my stress level. He also assisted when a day change was needed and on a refund for an event. It felt like my sister and I had a friend in the area!

The events were good selections and the information provided for each was appreciated. What would have added to the info for tourists would have been info about parking availability.

Loved it and saved money. St Augustine is such a fun city. Makes planning and visiting soooo much easier. I’ve purchased Tour Pass in all of their cities now (Charleston, Savannah and now St Augustine).

5 stars all the way! So many worthwhile attractions to choose from. Don’t even need to think twice or research more. Worth all the money for however many days of your visit. Plus so easy to use. Enough said! We will definitely be back and buy the Tour Pass all over again.

I got the tour pass for my family when we visited Charleston, SC in December. It was perfect since we weren't familiar with the city and this gave us ideas and suggestions of verified and validated things to do without having to do the research myself. We will definitely get the pass again.

Having never been to Savannah before, we were curious and I asked my oldest brother who had been there. He mentioned your Tour Pass and I am so thankful he did! He was a good deal financially and we particularly enjoyed the "diamond" attractions of the horse-drawn carriage ride, paddle-wheeler guided river cruise, and "Piano Men" concert in the old theater. On top of that, we visited several historic homes, an art museum, the train museum (including train ride), maritime museum, and free popsicles to boot! The Tour Passes helped make our trip to Savannah even more enjoyable and memorable. Thanks!

We purchased the TourPass for 3 days. My husband and I were in Savannah for a week so we had plenty of time to enjoy the tours. The TourPass made it easy to take tours and go inside the historical sites. I would recommend the TourPass if you have at least several days in Savannah.

The Best Group Paddle Board Experience with my Bridal Party!

Kyle and his team were AWESOME. So fun and professional. I have paddle boarded before but my girlfriends have not, but they made everyone comfortable and it was one of the top highlights of my bachelorette weekend in Charleston. A must for anyone looking for an activity in the sun!”

Paddleboarding at Folly River

My husband and I really enjoyed our time paddleboarding at Folly River! It was our first time paddleboarding and Kyle did a great job teaching us and giving us pointers on how to make the most of our experience. We paddleboarded for about 2 hours. He even took pictures during our trip! We were a little disappointed though because he did not post the pictures on the website right away like he said he would. Highly recommend Charleston Paddleboard Company for an awesome and adventurous time!

Sunset Kayak Tour | Shem Creek & Isle of Palms Book Now

We rotate this tour between two of our creekside locations, so check to make sure that the departure point works for you before you book. View an area map and addresses here.

When dusk hits each evening, everything changes on the tidal creek.  The water tends to smooth out into glass and the fractured light makes everything from the shrimp boats to the great blue herons take on a richer tone.   This time of day, we often have the creek to ourselves.

Birds like egrets and ibises fly overhead in big flocks as they return to roost.  Dolphins swim lazily in the creek, breaching regularly nearby our kayaks.  In the summers, we often get a glimpse of a manatee coming up to take a breath.

On your adventure, your guide will share information about the local wildlife and tell you stories about Charleston’s multi-faceted history, giving you a deeper look at the Lowcountry.

We always say that Charleston was meant to be seen by water- and this is a spectacular way to do it!
