The Kerambit's ring and the tip of the L-shaped section are designed to put your wrist at its strongest natural angle. Has anyone had real life experience with the all plastic impact kerambit? I have carried one for years now and have never had to use it but I have always wondered about its effects.. Here is what I am refering to.... http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/urdefense_2084_3233965  

How's it used?  

Very effective tool. I was shown how to use it by it's inventor and my friend, Kelly Worden. I believe it comes with a DVD that explains its use beyond the hammer fist.- George  

Yeah I know that is used in hammer fist form but I would like to know from someone that has used it in the field... how the result turned out...It seems to me like broken bone, bruised muscles, and collapsed lungs are in the forcast...

Kind of a neat little gizmo as impact tools go...I picked up a couple as well as the DVD's when I attended one of Worden's seminars several years ago. Never used it on anyone but I think it's safe to assume that the effects would be the same as hitting someone with any other hard object of a similar size.  

I guess it varies from state to state but that looks awfully close to a variation on brass knuckles. Are you guys sure it isn't an illegal weapon in your jurisdiction?  

That would depend on the definitions in each state or municipality's laws.  

How are these impact devices going to show up on the new airport body scanners? Is the TSA going to ask you what is this in your carryon? You were able to walk thru the machine before with anything plastic in your pockets before but now? Are we going to back to water bottles, sharpies, carabinas and items that can be reassambled on the other side of screening?  

I've seen FBI produced training material on a forum that specifically identified this as a weapon. Probably covered in TSA training and well known to police. One reason I stopped carrying my Choate ice scraper. I wouldn't try to get one on a plane.

I found this website that had a very interesting personal protection tool. www.kellyworden.com . There is a long informative article on the Travel Wrench or Impact Kerambit Personal Protection tool. The article states "The Travel Wrench was designed after the Barrio knife of the Philliphines and Indonesian martial arts, sometimes referred to as a sickle knife. The appearance of the tool is deceptive and few people have any idea what it is on initial examination. Designed as a light weight defensive striking tool, the L-shaped high-density plastic can be dismissed as nothing more than a sport wrench, key ring, or massage tool for arthritis or acupressure." With alot of practice I think it would be a nice addition to my "you'll never guess what this is for" collection. It'll sit right next to my stick of death. N  

Any of those "tools" will work if you have some knowledge of where to touch people with it and what it will feel like when you do :thumsup Brownie  

True but if you have that knowledge then you don't need to buy tools. Your finger or an ink pen or anything else at hand would work.

A pen can work; I carry a Cross set for the purpose, but when my hands get sweaty, my confidence wanes since those pens get slick. This looks like a good alternative for me. Thanks!  

I'm fixin (that's a good southern word) to be out of work. Even the $.79 ones are too expensive for me right now.  

Ghost: I would like to see the Kerambit. I though it was an interesting weapon but it would need training to use it effectively. I thought I saw a belt carrier for it on Natural Spirit Products. They also have pictures on some of the pressure points the Kerambit can be used on. It looks like they are some of the pressure points Brownie showed us when were were using the "the stck of death. I ordered two Saf T Wrenchs last week, they arrived yesterday. I haven't seen FB,, yet to give him is. We would love to get together for training or at the range. Let FB know when it is convienent for you.
