What You'll See:

Central Station  - A former logging station that housed schools and shops for the bustling timber industry is now a tourist stop. Stroll along the Wanggoolba Creek boardwalk to discover the ancient King Ferns, towering Flooded Gums and Pine trees.

Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora)  - K'gari's most iconic, picture-perfect swimming spot! Immerse yourself in the crystal-clear blue fresh water and relax on the sandy white beaches.

75 Mile Beach  - As you travel along this golden beach highway, you may spot dingoes, birds of prey flying above, or humpback whales, migrating down the coast (between July – October).

Eli Creek  - Float gently down this tranquil, tree-lined creek with four million litres of fresh water flowing into the Pacific Ocean every hour.

Maheno Shipwreck  - Marvel at the rustic wreck of the Maheno, which washed ashore during an out-of-season cyclone in 1935. It’s one of K’gari’s most recognisable sites.

The Pinnacles Coloured Sands - Learn about these radiant, cliff-like sand formations and the Indigenous Dreamtime stories that surround them. Get up-close and experience the spectacular 72 shades of rare red, orange and yellow sands.

Day 1 7am- 7:30am:  Pick up from your accommodation 8:30am:  Depart mainland on barge 9am:  Begin your guided tour.  Touring order and itinerary may vary due to tides. Relax along the pristine white silica shore and be immersed in the crystal-clear fresh water nestled amongst the sand dunes. •  Central Station  - Admire the towering trees growing from sand and explore along the rainforest boardwalk with your expert local guide. •  Pile Valley  - Wander through the subtropical rainforest and marvel at the centuries-old satinay trees and towering palms. •  75 Mile Beach  - Cruise K’gari’s golden beach highway and discover the hidden gems only the locals know about. You can join the Air Fraser team for a scenic joy-flight over the island (optional extra). •  Eli Creek  - Wade through the cool shallow waters or float downstream towards the Coral Sea! •  Maheno Shipwreck  - Visit the famous rustic ruins that was once a luxury cruise liner. Washed ashore in 1935 it is now a photographer's paradise and historic wonder. •  The Pinnacles Coloured Sands  – Be amazed by these spectacularly technicoloured sand cliffs and the Dreamtime tale of how they were formed. There are 72 different colours to see! •  Indian Head  – As the most easterly point of the island, marine life such as turtles, rays and whales (August to October) are often spotted in the waters around the base of this rocky headland. •  Champagne Pools  – Experience this amazing natural jacuzzi, as crashing waves meet the volcanic rock pools along the shore. It’s only saltwater swimming spot on 75 Mile Beach. •  Lake Wabby  - Trek across the shifting golden sands of the Hammerstone sandblow, and arrive at this hidden gem; a window and barrage lake, with glistening emerald green depths.  (Please note:  this is a 4km return walk through bushland and across soft sands - a moderate fitness level is required.  The Lake Wabby walk is an optional activity).

First, guests will enjoy a their pre-night stay at the stunning  Kingfisher Bay Resort  with full access to the resort facilities. Enjoy the afternoon and evening your way, with a range of dining and bar experiences available.

Night 2 will be spent at the wonderful  Eurong Beach Resort,  providing close access to Lake Wabby. Tour accommodation includes recently renovated Standard Hotel Rooms with a private kitchenette and balcony or patio. The resort offers many facilities for guest use, but the best place to unwind at the end of a tour day is at McKenzie’s on 75 Bar & Restaurant. Relax for the evening, and select a meal from the new à la carte menu.

LOCAL GUIDES 

Your guide is a Fraser Island expert with local knowledge and a passion for the island. You'll explore some of the most beautiful spots and listen to fascinating facts about the island's history, fauna and flora in air-conditioned comfort. They’ll drive you across the sand tracks and navigate the tides and unique terrain. 

WILDLIFE 

Diverse wildlife are present on Fraser Island with dingoes, birds of prey and whales (July to October) seen on Fraser Explore Tours. Spot wildlife from our 4WD coaches with custom-built panoramic windows. Keep an eye out for Fraser’s most famous resident – our pure-bred dingoes! 

ACCOMMODATION

Eurong Beach Resort offers twin, triple and single hotel rooms along the spectacular 75 Mile Beach. Each resort room has been recently renovated. The resort offers many facilities for guest use, but the best place to unwind at the end of your tour is at McKenzie’s on 75 Bar & Restaurant. Enjoy an evening at leisure, and select a meal from the new a la carte menu. Accommodation at Kingfisher Bay Resort is in a Standard Wallum View room. Rooms have a private ensuite and balcony.

HERVEY BAY DROP OFF At the end of the second day, board the 5.00pm ferry back to River Heads where our shuttle service will take you back to your accommodation (drop-off between 6.00pm and 7.00pm)

Yes, this tour is suitable for anyone over age 1, but remember this is an adventure tour so it's best that all kids are fit and healthy. 

There are no car seats provided, so if your children are age 7 or under you must bring a forward-facing car seat for them. 

You'll be staying in private rooms at K'gari Beach Resort. Toilets, showers, drinking water, a pool, and a bakery/general store/restaurant are available there. 

Passengers are allowed up to 25kg of luggage over 2 bags. We recommend having a small day bag to keep with you on the bus and a larger bag to store in the cargo hold below. 

This tour runs from Hervey Bay, and it is not advisable to swap for a tour that returns to Rainbow Beach because the itineraries may overlap and you could repeat some activities.

A former logging station that housed schools and shops for the bustling timber industry is now a tourist stop. Stroll along the Wanggoolba Creek boardwalk to discover the ancient King Ferns, towering Flooded Gums and Pine trees.

75 Mile Beach

Maheno Shipwreck

Marvel at the rustic wreck of the Maheno, which washed ashore during an out-of-season cyclone in 1935. It’s one of K’gari’s most recognisable sites.

Learn about these radiant, cliff-like sand formations and the Indigenous Dreamtime stories that surround them. Get up close and experience the spectacular 72 shades of rare red, orange and yellow sands.

Self-Driving: Rainbow Beach is approximately 3 hours by car north of Brisbane. 1.5 hours south of Hervey Bay and 2 hours north of Sunshine Coast. Meet your guide at 36 Rainbow Beach Road for a prompt departure.

Courtesy Transfers: If you require a courtesy transfer from select locations in Rainbow Beach, please enter your pick-up location at the time of booking.

Rainbow Beach: Tours depart daily from Rainbow Beach (via Inskip Point).
