Public transport Barcelona: Travel cards & tickets Overview and prices (2023)

Whether single ticket, 10 journey tickets (T-Casual) or travel card “Hola BCN” – here you will find current pricing & information. This will help you, to find the right ticket for your stay in Barcelona in a quick and easy way.

With our tips on finding & buying the right ticket for your purposes, you save time & money during your Barcelona trip.

The entire public transport in Barcelona is organized in one fare system of the “Autoritat del Transport Metropolità” (ATM). In this guide, you will find the most important tickets for visitors and tourists. In order to keep this website clear, tickets for a longer stay, such as monthly passes, annual passes etc. have not been included in this list.

1) Single Ticket

If you want to use the public transport occasionally.

The classic single ticket is the right ticket for you, if you want to use the public transport rarely. With the single ticket, you can e.g. take a ride on a TMB city bus or use the metro. The current price (2023) for the single ticket is EUR 2.40. You can buy it at the ticket vending machines.

Specific regulations of the single ticket in Barcelona:

– A single ticket entitles you NOT to ride on the Metro from/to the airport. For this ride you need an extra ticket “airport ticket” which cost 4.60 euros (one way) or 10.30 euros (round trip).

Therefore, a lot of visitors buy the cheap day ticket “Hola BCN” (details see below). This ticket includes metro service between the city center and the airport. In addition, it offers unlimited travel in all Barcelona’s public transport services for the period of validity (2-5 days).

– Bus, metro and tram have different single tickets, which might be invalid in the other transport system. With the 10-tickets “T-10” or the travel card “Hola BCN” you can easily bypass this problem.

2) Travel card “Hola BCN!” for 2–5 days: cheap & easy to use

Unlimited journeys on bus, metro, tram, commuter train + metro ride to / from airport.

atm10_10journey

Specific regulations of the “T-Casual” ticket:

  • The 10-ticket “T-Casual” does not include the metro ride to or from the airport . An extra ticket (airport ticket – EUR 10.30 round trip) is necessary. That is why many visitors buy the favourable day ticket “Hola BCN” (see above) . This allows you to travel from and to the airport and use the Barcelona public transport for the chosen validity period (2-5 days).
  • With a “T-Casual” 1-zone ticket, you have 75 minutes between the first and last validation when changing lines or mode of transport.

If I bought the 3 or 4 days pass on line: 1) can I pay with a Euro credit card by a French bank; 2) where do I pick up the card on arrival in Barcelona.

webmail@publictransport.barcelona

Dear Walter,

thank you for your post. If you decide to book online a “Hola BCN!” card, you don’t book it via our website. We just show with our link, that you can book it at getyourguide.com, Europe’s leading company for booking tourist guides, tours and tickets. So you have the standards and service of a big company. Nevertheless we want to answer your question. 1) Yes, you can pay by credit card or PayPal. 2) After booking, you receive a voucher via email. Your voucher must be printed and exchanged at the Barcelona Tourism Office located at Plaça Catalunya, 17 or at any other tourist information point. There are also tourist information points at the Barcelona ElPrat Airport (terminals 1 and 2). So you can easy get yout ticket and use the metro, to get e.g. to the city center.

Julia Barber

Hello, we travel to Barcelona on the 4/1/17 and our party is 2 adults and a child. Is there a child price or is it just a flat one price for all? We would want the Hola BCN 4

Hello Julia, thank your for your question. Here the official terms of use of tickets :”Children under four are not required to have a ticket. All other passengers must have a valid, suitable and validated ticket.” There is no special HolaBCN! ticket for children older than 4 years. That means: If your child is under four you don’t need a ticket, if your child is 4 years and older you need a standard HolaBCN! ticket.

If I buy a 2 day HolaBCN ticket and activate it on 14/11/2017 at 10.00 does the 2 day period stop on 16/11/2017 at 09.59 or does it stop at midnight on 15/11/2017?

Hello Brendan,

a 48h HolaBCN ticket is valid for 48h after first validation. In your case from 14/11/2017 10.00 to 16/11/2017 09.59.

Enjoy your trip.

Cassey

Thinking of purchasing the Hola BCN for 4 days for the F1 in May 2018, but am I correct in thinking that it will actually run out on the 4th day – which for us would be the Sunday at 2pm as we arriving on the prior Thursday around 2pm?

Hello Cassey,

If you buy a 4 day (96 hour card) on Thursday 2pm, it runs out following Monday 1.59pm, not Sunday as you wrote.

Emily

Hi, thinking of purchasing the Hola bcn card for 9 of us for hen do in June. We will arrive on the Friday at approx 12:15, and we fly home on the Monday at approx 13:00, would we need the 3 or 4 day card to cover us for the whole trip? Thanks in advance!

your aircraft lands at 12.15? Due to waiting times, e.g. at the baggage claim, you will not enter the metro at Friday before 13.00. To depart Monday at 13:00, you must check in at the airport before 13:00. The 3 day Hola BCN! is valid for 72h as of the first validation. So from our point of view, the 3 day card is the right card for you.

Alkazri

Very informative! Thanks Hola BCN! We’re flying to Barcelona today. ???????

Linda Sampedey

Hi. Is the N17 buses included in the Hola Barcelona travel card?

The N17 Nitebus is operated by the private bus company Mohn. The Hola Barcelona travel card is NOT valid on this bus.

Have fun in Barcelona

Ken

I understand that a Hola BCN card includes a free roundtrip metro ride between the airport and city center. If I buy a 3-day Hola BCN card on Day 1 and leave Barcelona on Day 5, is my card still valid for a free return ride from city center to the airport?

The period of use for the HolaBCN card begins with the first use and ends in your case 3 days later.

David

Hello, can I use the HolaBCN travel card to Molins de Rei from Barcelona city centre?

Hi David, Molins de Rei is in fare zone 2B. The Hola BCN ticket is not valid here. Have fun in Barcelona

Aj

Hi, I would like to ask if I buy a HolaBCN 48 hours, can I use that from Granollers Centre to Barcelona city centre ? Are all the zones are covered in HolaBCN ?

Hello Aj, Granollers Center is in Zone 3 and is therefore outside the validity of the Hola BCN Travel Card. One-way tickets are probably the best alternative. Have fun in Barcelona

The Best Tourist Cards for 2023!

Welcome to our guide to selecting the right tourist card or city pass for your Barcelona city break! We look at the top 4 cards , which include entry to La Sagrada Familia, and which offer the best deals and value for money in general.

Top 4 Cards: – Barcelona Card | Barcelona Pass | Go City All-Inclusive | Go City Explorer

The original idea of tourist cards, here in Barcelona and other popular travel destinations around the world, was to give their users one handy entry card they can use at all the major attractions around town, saving them a lot of time, money and hassle. Often with free public transport thrown into the bargain.

While the idea is simple, the execution is not always so easy. For example many museums and sights in Barcelona are privately owned (including several of Gaudi’s greatest hits!), and a couple of mega-attractions like Sagrada Familia require pre-booking. Meanwhile the attractions that are publicly owned (most of the museums) have to abide by certain rules and regulations.

The result is that there is not one “catch all” solution to entering all of Barcelona’s attractions for free, but rather several different options that will suit the needs of different travellers to different degrees.

We compare the different tourist cards and city passes on offer… so you can make an informed decision about which option works best for you.

In this article, we compare the different tourist cards and city passes on offer, along with a transparent look at who runs them (as well as the official tourist board, several large travel giants offer their own products!) and how much value you get from each, so you can make an informed decision about which option works best for you.

1. Barcelona Card

By Barcelona Turisme

Barcelona Card: What’s Included? | Prices | Is It Worth It? | Online Reservations

The city’s official pass, run by the tourist board, the Barcelona Card offers free entry – with skip the line privileges – to many of the best museums in the Catalan capital, most notably the superb Picasso Museum , but also the MNAC ( National Museum of Catalan Art ), MACBA , Joan Miro Foundation and most branches of the Barcelona History Museum.

There’s also free entry to many of the city’s less visited, but worthwhile treasures, such as the Frederic Mares Museum, Caixa Forum , CosmoCaixa ( good for kids !), Design Museum, Egyptian Museum and the serene Botanical Gardens .

The card doubles as a free travel card around the city, which is handy and saves you faffing around at ticket machines for the duration of your stay.

After purchase, you will need to collect the card from the airport or one of the tourist offices / collection points in the centre. Usually it’s better to collect it at the airport, so you can take advantage of the metro transport direct from arrival. However the card is valid from the moment you first use it, so if you’re not planning to visit any museums on your first day you might want to wait to activate it later.

Sadly the Barcelona Card doesn’t include tickets to La Sagrada Familia nor Park Guell, nor any of Gaudi’s other UNESCO-listed works . Although it does at least provide you with discounts for Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, Casa Vicens and Palau Guell, and many many more attractions, shops and entertainment venues.

Overall this is the best choice for museum lovers who plan on using the excellent public metro system during their stay.

Top Tip: If you want museums plus Gaudi you could combine this with the Barcelona Pass or Go City Explorer Pass .

Free Major Attractions

  • Picasso Museum . Skip the line entry to this Barcelona highlight (worth €12).
  • MNAC . The excellent National Museum of Catalan Art (worth €12).
  • MACBA.  The city’s best modern art museum, in a stunning building (worth €10).
  • Joan Miro Foundation . A look at Catalonia’s most famous artist (worth €12).
  • MUHBA History Museum . Roman ruins, war bunkers and Jewish heritage across 4 different locations (worth 4 x €7).
  • Egyptian Museum . A small but stunning collection of Egyptian artifacts (worth €12).

Plus many more free museums. For a full list check here .

Other Freebies

Barcelona Card holders receive a free guide and metro map with their purchase.

Free Transport

Includes free public transport (metro, buses, trains and trams) in Barcelona city centre, plus free metro ticket to the airport.

Worthwhile Discounts

Barcelona Card offers billions of discounts . Here’s a sample selection:

  • Casa Mila (€3 off)
  • Casa Batllo (€3 off)
  • Palau Guell (25% off)
  • Casa Vicens (25% off)
  • Poble Espanyol (20% off)
  • Palau de la Musica Catalana (20% off)
  • Sant Pau Recinte Modernisme (20% off)
  • Barcelona Zoo (20% off)

Barcelona Card Pricing

Is it worth it.

Is it worth buying the Barcelona Card? The conclusion is yes, provided you plan on visiting at least one museum a day. If you do so, you’d be saving the 7-12 euros museum entry fee, plus travelling for free around the city using the excellent metro system, which will also now take you all the way to the airport. You’d have to buy your Park Guell and Sagrada Familia tickets separately, however, which is why for first-time visitors to the city I’d recommend checking the Barcelona Pass or the Go City All-Inclusive or Explorer pass, before making your decision. You may even be able to combine two passes to get everything you want.

Barcelona Pass Pricing

Is the Barcelona Pass worth the money? Economically speaking, you don’t save a tonne of money here, as the value of the included products comes to more or less the price of the pass itself. Therefore, to start making savings, you need to use your 10% discount code to buy at least one more product. With the likes of Camp Nou Stadium, Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, The Aquarium, a flamenco show or a wine tour to tempt you, this should be very easy indeed, and the more you do, the better value the pass becomes. On the other hand, it’s hard to beat the Barcelona Pass for sheer convenience as it covers everything many tourists wish to do with a single ticket, enabling you to plan your visit with just a few clicks of the mouse.

3. Go City All-Inclusive Pass

Go City All-Inclusive: What’s Included? | Prices | Is It Worth It? | 5% Discount Code!

A new brand in town, the Go City All-Inclusive pass is rather impressive! You simply choose the number of days you will need the pass for (the more days, the higher the cost), and then you can visit as many sights and museums as you like for FREE within that timeframe.

Amazingly, Go City seemed to have struck a deal with virtually every major tourist attraction in town, and in fact they’ve actually gone one better for some of the top attractions, as you actually get a guided tour of La Sagrada Familia, Park Guell and Picasso Museum included in the price (which starts at €119 for a 2-day pass, and perhaps hits a sweet spot at €149 for a 3-day pass).

So far, go great… but is there a snag? Yes, a little one. Some of the best sights (starting with La Sagrada Familia) require booking in advance and are limited by availability, so you need to check that on their website before you go ahead and buy the pass. In general, provided you buying your All-Inclusive pass a week ahead of time you should be ok.

Overall there’s a stunning amount of high-end, expensive attractions included in the cost of the pass, and it should be really easy to get value for money – you might even save a small fortune! ( UPDATE: We’ve negotiated a 5% discount on the pass for Barcelona Life readers… keep reading to save even more!).

  • Sagrada Familia Guided Tour . See Gaudi’s masterpiece with a local guide (worth €60).
  • Park Guell Guided Tour . Wander through these landscaped gardens with a licensed guide (worth €32)
  • Picasso Museum Guided Tour . Discover the legacy of Picasso in Barcelona and his early works (worth €33)
  • Camp Nou Museum & Tour . Visit the stadium and museum of the legendary Barça FC (worth €28).
  • Casa Batllo . A truly magical house with a fairytale façade (worth €35).
  • Casa Mila . Gaudi’s most famous mansion, aka La Pedrera (worth €25).
  • Poble Espanyol . Visit the whole of Spain, in one village (worth €14).
  • The Aquarium . Admire 450 aquatic animals including bull sharks (worth €24).
  • Barcelona Zoo . See lions, tigers, hippos, giraffes and gorillas (worth €21.40).

You can check the full list of the 40+ free attractions and experiences on Go City’s website , where you can also buy the pass.

In addition to entrance tickets to almost all the top attractions, the Go City All-Inclusive pass also includes a tonne of tour options, such as a free walking tour with tapas tasting (worth €25), a free bike tour (€30), a segway tour (€29) or even a ticket to an escape room (worth €25).

The Go City All-Inclusive pass includes a day’s use of the Hop On / Hop Off Barcelona Tourist Bus, plus Montjuic Cable Car tickets.

Go City All-Inclusive Pass Pricing

Is the Go City All-Inclusive pass worth it? The short answer is YES . It’s incredible value. The 2-day pass only comes in at less than €70 a day… take the Sagrada Familia guided tour (€60) and you’ve nearly made that back… especially if you arrived by the Tourist Bus (€33). Take the Park Guell tour in the afternoon (€32) and you’ve completed €112 worth of activities for almost half price. Then on your second day you just need to visit any two other premium attractions to be saving, and there’s time to do three or four if you plan well.

The picture looks even better on a 3-day pass, which comes in at less than €60 a day. You could do La Sagrada Familia, Park Guell and Gaudi Experience (next to Park Guell) via the Tourist Bus on Day 1; then pop by Casa Mila and Casa Batllo (next to each other), followed by Picasso Museum on Day 2; and then on Day 3 take your pick between Montserrat , Camp Nou Experience, the Aquarium and many more.

4. Go City Explorer Pass

Go City Explorer: What’s Included? | Prices | Is It Worth It? | 5% Discount Code!

The Go City Explorer Pass works completely differently to every other tourist card on this list. Instead of being valid for a number of days, the pass grants you entry to a set number of attractions (between 2 and 7, depending which option you select), and you can handpick these attractions from Go City’s list of partners.

The list includes virtually every major attraction in town, and overall the Explorer Pass is the most flexible option for travellers.

  • Segway Tour . Take a spin through Parc de la Ciutadella (worth €29).
  • Tapas Tour . A walking tour of the Gothic Quarter with snacks (worth €22).

The Go City Explorer pass doesn’t include any free transport, but you can use one of your attraction slots to select the Hop On / Hop Off Barcelona Tourist Bus. (You can also select the Montjuic Cable Car, but that would only make financial sense if you opting for the 6 or 7 attraction pass option).

Go City Explorer Pass Prices

The great thing about the Go City Explorer Pass is you really can’t lose. You simply add up the prices of the attractions you want to visit and then check if the pass works out cheaper!

Generally speaking, if you want to visit a lot of premium attractions (by which I mean those that cost €20 or over) then the Explorer Pass is going to save you a significant amount of money. For example selecting the Sagrada Familia guided tour (€60), the Park Guell guided tour (€32), Casa Batllo (€35), Camp Nou (€28), the Tourist Bus (€33) and the Picasso Museum guided tour (€33) has a total value of €221, while the 6 choice pass only costs €154. That’s a pretty massive saving!

Hello Duncan! We’d love to see SF without the guide and Park Guell and Casa Batillo. We are also planning to use the metro. Any thoughts? Thanks!

barcelona metro tourist pass

Ok, so you might want to consider the Barcelona Essential Pass , which is similar to the Barcelona Pass, but with public transport included (in the form of the Hola Barcelona Pass ) instead of the Tourist Bus.

That would get you Sagrada Familia (with audioguide), Park Guell and free public transport (including metro/train from the airport), plus audioguide for Barcelona in general. When you buy the Essential Card via Tiqets you get a 10% discount code emailed to you, which you could use to pick up Casa Batllo tickets.

Hope that works out for you!

Hi first time to Barcelona, dates 4th to 7th september would like to visit casa battlo. segrada, park guell , casa mila, motjuic and possibly a boat trip too , can you advise which would be best please , travel and attractions cards

Those sights are all included in the Go City All Inclusive pass .

For Montjuic, you could use the Tourist Bus (included) to get there and you also have cable car tickets (for going right to the top), and free entry to Poble Espanyol, Olympic Museum and CaixaForum. Or you could sign up for the Montjuic Walking Tour (included).

Hi Duncan There’s just to many choices. We will be flying in on the 26th of October and leaving November 1 on a cruise so we are most interested the transit pass and a few major attractions. We enjoy walking tours self guided and just getting a feel for the city. Don’t really enjoy busy tourist attractions. Which pass would you suggest. Thanks Rich

Yes, it’s not always an obvious decision… I think the Barcelona Pass does a great job of catering to the first-time visitor’s needs. Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, tourist bus to join the dots. Grab it and you’re done basically!

However from your comment I feel like the Barcelona Card might be a better choice. That’s the official city card, which grants you free entry to pretty much all the city museums (more reading here: https://www.barcelona-life.com/barcelona/museums so you can see which take your fancy), none of which (apart from the Picasso Museum) get too crowded. The Barcelona Card also grants you free public transport.

The Go City passes are great if you want to do virtually ALL the expensive Gaudi sights (Sag Fam, Park Guell and the three separate mansions) and / or like tours. You can save good money with them if you are piling up the expensive options basically.

Hope that summary helps!

You might be best off making your itinerary first and then seeing if any of the cards line up well with your choices!

We are traveling in August with my husband and 3 teens. I already booked my Sagrada Familia tickets. We will like to visit Casa Batlló, el parque Güell, Monserrat tour, and maybe something else. Which pass would you recommend? Also, we are taking a cruise, which way is easier for us to get to the terminal, uber or taxi? Thank you Duncan!

If you’re already got your Sagrada Familia tickets then it’s hard to save money with any of the passes, because SF is the most expensive attraction and the cards are usually priced around including it.

The 3-choice Explorer Pass would see you break even more or less, but with the disadvantage that their Montserrat tour is just transport (no tour guide), and it might be a place where you want more context…

I would probably just go for individual tickets to each attraction in your position.

Here are my top 5 Montserrat tours btw, for some cool options:

https://www.barcelona-life.com/barcelona/montserrat#tours

Regarding transport to the cruise port… I haven’t actually been down to the cruise port, but I believe there’s a taxi rank there. Perhaps best iea though to book one advance, via the likes of Book Taxi BCN

https://www.barcelona-life.com/book-taxi-bcn

On their website they have a drop down menu where you can select Barcelona Port – Cruise Terminal as your pick up and Barcelona City (All Destinations) as your drop off. You can also let them know what ship you’re on, so they’ll be there to meet you.

Uber doesn’t work in Barcelona btw (although Cabify app does, so you could also try that for getting around town).

You have this in your post: Free Transport The Go City All-Inclusive pass includes free use of the Hop On / Hop Off Barcelona Tourist Bus for the duration of the card, plus Montjuic Cable Car tickets.

The Go Card company said you only have a bus option once, NOT for each day you have the all exclusive.

Thanks Tina, you’re correct, thanks for pointing that out. I have updated the post!

Hi Duncan – great information but I am confused as to what is best. 2 of us would like to visit La Sagrada, Casa Batllo, Casa Mila and Poble Espanyol, plus take the cable car. Is the Go City Explorer x 4 options the best way to go, bearing in mind I then have to pay for trains when I use them. Thanks for your suggestions.

I think you want the 3 choices Explorer pass…. because two of your attractions (Poble Espanyol and Cable Car) are less than €20, which is the difference between the 3 choice and 4 choice and the 4 choice and 5 choice pass. In other words, you’d be paying more. As long as each choice costs €20-25 the Explorer works better… if less, better to buy individual tickets.

Conclusion: So get the 3 x Explorer Pass for Sag Fam, Casa Mila and Casa Batllo and then pick up individual tickets for Poble Espanyol and Cable Car.

ps. This Montjuic article might be useful for you!

Hi Duncan, Wonderful info, lots to digest, I am visiting with my daughter in May who uses a wheelchair, are the hop on and hop off buses accessible? Wondering which pass would work best for us, we are staying for six nights, don’t know where yet perhaps you can suggest an area that would be fun and accessible. I appreciate your advice.

So I checked for you and the official tourist bus website says :

“All Barcelona Bus Turístic buses are equipped with an access ramp and wheelchair space inside the vehicle.”

I would perhaps suggest staying somewhere in, or near, El Borne. It’s a nice district, centrally located and a good vibe. However you can’t go too far wrong, every central district is pretty nice IMHO and there’s a good metro services (with lifts and ramps) if you need to swap districts. Being close to the yellow line is useful for getting to and from the city beaches. Speaking of which Poblenou is a very chilled district with little traffic and close to the beaches.

I would recommend checking out this post my an accessibility expert for more tips:

Have fun, and let us know how you got on!

Hi Duncan, My husband and I are visiting Barcelona in 2 weeks, where our daughter is studying abroad. Looking at all of the passes it seems the City Explorer Pass may be best for us (and then purchasing the T-Casual transportation passes). My question is for the Sagrada Familia tickets, can we get tickets with a Tower Tour? It seems that some of the passes don’t offer the Tower tour and I’m not sure if the Explorer Package does.

Also, we want to book a tour to Montserrat. Is there one you would recommend over another? There seem to be so many options. We like to be active so one with a hike or wine tasting sound good. Thanks for any help you can give!

Tower access is not part of the Sagrada Familia tour available with the Explorer Pass, although it’s possible you could later upgrade with the company who provides the Sagrada tour (Amigo Tours). The picture is not clear I’m afraid (I asked Go City, but they were not even sure).

If you want to be 100% sure, I’d maybe get separate tickets and use the Explorer Pass for other attractions. Given you’re here for 2 weeks you can take your time and the Explorer Pass makes most sense. Just use it for the most expensive attractions!

Regarding Montserrat, I put what I think are the best tours here:

Hope that helps…

Hi Duncan, We will be traveling with our 4 year old in April. Wondering what would be the best option for us if we want to visit Parc Güell, La Sagrada Familia, el Tibidabo funicular (amusement Park not necessary), Montjuïc, Casa Milá or Batlló, a boat ride and possibly Montserrat. We don’t want guided tours, just entrance. We arrive on a Saturday late afternoon and leav e either Tuesday or Wednesday (if we include Montserrat). We would probably do our own thing around the Gothic quarter on Sunday and maybe a boat tour to allow for jet lag recovery. Would possibly fit in El Tibidabo or Montjuïc Sunday as well if we are up for it. Then sagrada familia, Parc Güell and Casa Batllo on Monday. Leaving Tuesday afternoon or tagging on Montserrat on Tuesday and leaving Wednesday morning. I was thinking the GoCity 3 day all inclusive pass would be worth it but not seems like most of what they offer are guided tours, which would be a challenge with a jet lagged 4 year old (and limited time). What pass would you recommend for our time there? I don’t know if it makes sense to start our pass on sunday (when jet lagged) or Monday. I liked the idea of the hop on hop off for transportation ease to the main attractions but maybe it’s not too hard to navigate public transport. Thank you!

Hi Michelle, while possible I think this might all be a bit ambitious for only two full days (Sunday and Monday).

If you’re keen to avoid being on a tour, perhaps the Barcelona Pass makes more sense. You can do Sagrada Familia and Park Guell on the same day, and use the rest of the day to ride the Tourist Bus over Montjuic (you don’t need advance tickets for Montjuic attractions like Joan Miro Foundation or MNAC so you can play Montjuic by ear). I’d just advise leaving plenty of time to get from Sagrada to Park Guell by Tourist Bus as I’ve heard the buses can get busy these days so you might have to queue a little to get on one. (Public transport def. possible, but a bit more hassle / walking).

Once you have the Barcelona Pass you can get 10% off Casa Batllo and a number of Montserrat and boat tours via Tiqets.

Hope that helps!

' src=

Hi Duncan, cool article! What do you think about the Hola Barcelona pass? Is it worth buying to save on public transport? We want to do the standard, I guess: Montserrat, Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Montjuic, Picasso Museum, maybe Poble Espanyol, or Aquarium. 5 days, Mon to Fri. Thanks in advance!

Czesc Natka

The Hola Barcelona Pass is pretty decent, as I believe you get the special airport metro fare included. You will probably save money vs. buying single tickets everywhere you go.

HOWEVER, I think 8/10 times you are going to save more money buying a T-Casual, which gives you 10 journeys on public transport for €11:35, with no time limit (or a time limit of several months).

https://www.tmb.cat/en/barcelona-fares-metro-bus/single-and-integrated/t-casual

You don’t get airport metro ticket included though (although personally I prefer to take the Aerobus anyhow, as I find it fast, convenient and still reasonably priced).

' src=

Hi Duncan Very good article I have a question we are a couple traveling to Barcelona on march interested in seeing sagarada familia, park guell, football stadium and the hop off and on bus. We don’t want like a schedule to do things just to enjoy and walk around wich card do you recommend. Thank You

Thanks for the feedback. Regarding your question, unfortunately these days tickets to popular attractions come with a specified time slot, meaning it’s no longer really viable to do the major sights in an ad hoc fashion. You have to plan a bit in advance. That’s true no matter which pass you buy, or which portal you get the tickets from, including the official websites, so there’s no way around it I’m afraid.

For your needs, I’d personally probably go for the Barcelona Pass and use the tourist bus to round up all those attractions in one day. Sagrada Familia maybe 10am, Park Guell at noon, lunch, then Camp Nou at 3pm, and then ride the bus over Montjuic in the late afternoon, as it’s very nice up there and some good views ( https://www.barcelona-life.com/barcelona/montjuic ). After you buy the Barcelona Pass, you should be able to buy the Camp Nou tickets with 10% discount via Tiqets.com.

That way you’ve done your sightseeing on Day 1 and can spend the rest of your trip walking around some cool districts like the Gothic Quarter, Born, Gracia or just go shopping, bar hopping or to the beach!

More inspiration here:

https://www.barcelona-life.com/barcelona/things-to-do

https://www.barcelona-life.com/things-to-do-at-night-in-barcelona

Note: the Go City Passes do cover your needs too, but with Go City you book a guided tour to the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell (not just entry tickets), meaning less flexibility about what times you can choose from. But maybe check them out in case the times work for you.

' src=

Hello, we want to visit Sagrada Famiglia, Casa Milo, Batllo, Park Guell and Picasso Can u suggest a city pass for all of this atractions and can i use them twice for the same places?

Hi Merlin, yes either of the Go City Passes will get you entry to those five attractions. However, you can only visit each attraction once, as far as I know.

' src=

Thank you for this great article! I’ve managed to use your discount on the Go City card 🙂

Well done Iva! Have fun in Barcelona 😎

Duncan, Thanks for your prompt response. Most useful. Have a nice day. Warm Regards Dinyar

' src=

on the go explorer pass are there skip the line tours

Yes, you can select Sagrada Familia or Park Guell skip-the-line tours with the Go Explorer Pass, and you will enter the attraction at the allotted time without queuing more than a few minutes… you do have to be on time though!

In general every advance ticket is a ‘skip the line’ ticket (the phrase ‘skip-the-line’ comes from the times when most tourists would simply turn up at the gates and form a line, but most people now plan in advance, esp. for the big attractions).

Hi Duncan, Intend visiting Barcelona in May this year and based on your recommendations am planning to buy the 4-choice Explorer Pass to cover Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Casa Batlo & Cable Car to Montjuic. Q.1 How do I get to use the guide for the first 2 attractions with this pass? Do I get him/her on site? Q.2 When visiting Casa Batlo is some audio facility available? Q.3 Is cable car experience to Montjuic worthwhile or do you recommend another attraction. Q.4 When booking do I have to specify which 4 attractions I will be availing. Look forward to receiving your response. Thanks. Dinyar

With Sagrada Familia, after buying the pass, you will have to reserve a slot for La Sagrada Familia (I believe GoCity will send you a link to a booking calendar, or a calendar will pop up from their page) either on a morning tour (Monday to Saturday at 09:30) or an afternoon tour (15:30).

Same situation for Park Guell, but different timetables. In May, looks like you can choose from 12:15, 15:45 or 18:15 each day.

For Casa Batllo you’re essentially getting their standard ‘Blue ticket’, which includes Audio Guide and Gaudi Cube (360 degrees media exhibit).

Montjuic is really cool place to visit, with loads of attractions. You can read more here:

The cable car is fun, with great views from the sky, and helpful if you want to get to the very top of the hill (which is a steep walk). However it’s only a few minutes ride, so it’s only a short trip. At the top of the hill is Montjuic Castle (it’s a fortress not a castle though), and great views over the commercial port.

If you wanted to get more value from your pass, you could use your fourth attraction slot to get into one of the more expensive attractions, like La Pedrera (aka Casa Mila), and just buy the cable car ticket.

Duncan, I just read your article and went to the link for the GO Pass, All Inclusive pass. We are going to Barcelona in late November for one week. We ended up getting the 5-day pass and it looks like we can see a lot while riding the double-decker buses to get to the attractions. I wanted to say thank you for your wonderful article that explained all of the pass options. I honestly think the one we got is the best value for your money, but if someone is only going for a day or two, I can see how one of the others might work better. If you have any other advice or suggestions, I will gladly listen to your wise words. Thank you for your help.

Hi Kevin, yes I think the Go Pass is the best on the market right now, especially if you’re staying a bit longer, as you say.

None of the passes include a flamenco show these days, but there are some from just €20 on my dedicated page:

https://www.barcelona-life.com/barcelona/flamenco

Have a great time in the city!

The link to compo does not work.

I would like a card if it pays off

We want to visit -The Sagrada Familia – Park Guell – Montjuïc Cable Car, one the way – Hop on off bus – Metro

Yes, this article is going to need a quite intensive update following the pandemic. Things are still in flux a bit. One card that has reestablished itself is the Barcelona Pass , available now on Tiqets, and it has EXACTLY what you’re looking for (except the metro… but you can buy a T-Casual card for just 10 or 11 euros and use that to get around)! Please can you help !

There are 14 of us traveling to Barcelona on the 2nd jan returning on the 5th jan .

We have 6 teenagers 4 kids 4 adults

We basically Need a card for 4 days which gives us access to : Airport transfers ( using the metro) to noval hotel and back Metro use whilst out there and hop and on bus to get around

We want to see the La Sagrada Park Guell Picasso museum Football stadium if free ( not a must) Boat trip would be amazing Zoo ( possibly ) Any late night showes ( not essential but fun) Aquarium (if possible )

As we will all spilt but need access to public transport the whole time out there. Our hotel is noval Barcelona metro is across the rd

Am confused to if we get the Barcelona combo which seems like the best option is that per person and how many days ? Do You offer a family card which is cheaper and I have also looked at the I venture card that gives y out access for 7 days .

We need a card from 2nd jan until 5th jan your help will be much appreciated.

I hope to hear from You very soon as I need to book these cards and the best option plz

Hi Henna, yes it looks like Barcelona Combo is best option for you. The Combo is actually the official Barcelona Tourist Card, plus a package of Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Flamenco Show and Boat Trip added on top, at a discount price.

So you essentially are buying the Barcelona Card (you choose the duration, 3, 4 or 5 days), and that gives you free public transport, including metro to and from airport, and free Picasso Museum (plus many other museums). And then, in addition to the Card benefits, you also get the Combo bonuses as well (Sagrada Familia etc!), and you can choose the timing of those.

The Card would give you a discount on the Zoo and Aquarium (but not Camp Nou) if you did decide you wanted to visit any of those!

Hope that helps clarify things for you!

Ps. I don’t know of any family cards, but the Combo package is cheaper for those under 12 years old.

Hi Do you know if the night tour of La Pedrera is included in any of these tickets, please?

Many thanks

Yes, La Pedrera’s real name is Casa Mila.

You can see on the table that it is free with the Barcelona Pass.

Enjoy your travels!

Sorry, just realised you specified the night tour. Nope, that’s not included in any package. But you can purchase via Get Your Guide .

The subsidies introduced by the government since 1 September 2022 relating to the metro prices for a number of tickets in the Barcelona area, in order to confront the crisis, remain unchanged for the year 2023. As a result, since the 1st of January 2023 and until 2024 after the announcement of the ATM in June which had to decide whether to maintain this reduction for the last 6 months of the year, the prices of the Barcelona metro will be the same for the T-Usual card (metro card valid for 30 days), which will remain at 20 euros and the price of the T-Jove card (90 consecutive days for those under 25 years old) will remain at 40 euros.

Getting Around Barcelona: Guide to Public Transportation

How to use the metro, buses, commuter trains, and more

barcelona metro tourist pass

TripSavvy /  Emily Mendoza

As Spain's second-largest city after Madrid , Barcelona teems with no shortage of things to see and do. Getting from one place to the other in a city this size can seem challenging to first-time visitors. Throw in the unfamiliar Catalan place names, and things are seemingly complicated even further.

But although it seems complicated at first, Barcelona's public transportation system is a cheap, easy and efficient way to get around town. It's a much better option than renting a car, and although the city is quite walkable, sometimes catching the metro or a bus can save you valuable time.

How to Ride the Barcelona Metro

Here in Barcelona, the most popular way to get around town is via metro .

Operated by TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona), locals tend to prefer the metro for its easy-to-use system, low fares, and frequency of trains.

Metro stations are usually indicated by red and white signs bearing an M. Once inside the station, purchase a ticket from the electronic machines (instructions are available in Catalan, Spanish, English and French), and use it to pass through the turnstiles.

Barcelona Metro Fast Facts :

  • Cost : €2.40 for a single ticket. €11.35 for a 10-journey pass, known as a T-Casual card (allows rides on all public transportation in Barcelona)
  • How to pay : Cash or card at the ticketing machines
  • Hours of operation : Monday–Sunday 5 a.m.–midnight
  • Transfer information : At the transfer station, follow the signs indicating where to board the train for your final destination. Once you arrive, exit the station as normal.
  • Accessibility : As of October 2020, only 14 of Barcelona's 159 metro stations have not yet been adapted for users of reduced mobility. Steps are being taken to make all stations accessible as soon as possible.

Start planning your journey using the Barcelona metro system's online route planner .

Riding the TMB Bus

Buses in Barcelona are another easy way of getting around town, with the added bonus of getting to see the city pass by as you ride. TMB, the same company that runs the Metro, also operates the bus system.

Bus stops in Barcelona are either shelters or poles displaying the numbers of the bus lines that stop there. As your bus approaches, wave to the driver to indicate that you'd like to board.

Once on the bus, be sure to validate your travel pass (such as the T-Casual card) if you have one; if not, you can buy a ticket from the driver for €2.20. The largest bill accepted is 10 euros.

When your stop is approaching, press the red button to signal the driver. Exit the bus through the rear doors.

Check the TMB website for full information about how to take the bus, including operating hours .

The Rodalies Commuter Rail

Rodalies is the suburban train network throughout Catalonia. Its stations are identified by a white R against an orange background. This is an especially great transport option for taking day trips from Barcelona .

Information about the trains, including schedules and routes, is available on the Rodalies website .

Barcelona's Tram System

The tram network in Barcelona is not very extensive at this point, but it's a great way to explore beyond the city center. There are six tram lines and nearly 30 kilometers of track. Visit the Barcelona tram website to learn more.

Getting To and From El Prat Airport

  • Metro : The L9 Sud line stops at both terminals. Tickets cost €4.60.
  • Aerobús : Connects both terminals with Plaça Catalunya. Tickets cost €5.90.
  • Train : The L2 train currently only stops at Terminal 2, though plans are in place to add a stop at Terminal 1 as well. It's accessible in Barcelona proper at the Passeig de Gràcia, Sants, and França stations. Pricing information can be found on the Rodalies website .

Taxis in Barcelona

Official Barcelona taxis are painted black with yellow doors. They can be found at taxi ranks all over town, or you can call one at +34 933 033 033.

Renting a Car

While renting a vehicle can be a great way to explore further-afield parts of Catalonia, it's not really an ideal way to get around Barcelona. The sheer number of people and vehicles in the city can make it difficult to get around, other drivers seemingly treat traffic laws as mere guidelines, and finding a decent, centrally located parking spot (that's not in an expensive garage) is next to impossible. Our advice: save yourself the money and frustration.

Bike Sharing in Barcelona

Bicing , Barcelona's bike-sharing program, has become a popular method of public transportation in the Catalan capital.

With more than 6,000 mechanical bikes and 800 electric bikes available to rent, it's a quick and efficient way to get around town. It's also easily integrated with other modes of public transportation in Barcelona, with docking stations conveniently located near metro stations and bus stops.

Tips for Getting Around Barcelona

  • Barcelona is a generally safe city, but petty crime such as pickpocketing is common on public transportation. Watch your belongings and be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially on crowded metros and buses.
  • Always keep small bills and coins on you in order to pay for public transportation. Oftentimes drivers won't be able to give change for large bills, and ticketing machines won't accept them, either.
  • Walking can be an extremely rewarding and enjoyable way to see the city. Barcelona is incredibly pedestrian-friendly, and most of its major sights are concentrated into one area that's easy to navigate on foot.
  • As in any major city, public transportation in Barcelona can get very crowded during both the morning and evening rush hours. Plan accordingly or consider an alternative method if you're on a tight schedule.
  • If you're visiting in the summer, you'll likely want to check out one of the famous Barcelona beaches . But don't limit yourself to crowded Barceloneta just because it's close to the city center. Instead, hop on public transportation and head further afield—you'll likely have a much more pleasant experience, and find yourself surrounded by locals rather than tourists.

> The Barcelona city pass + towers

  • The concept is very innovative. It is the first time that a city offers a formula that combines preferential skip-the-line tickets and accessible transportation, all online and by e-mail. We like the quick and practical aspects of the concept.
  • The choice of the two main must visit tourist attractions is a good idea: the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell are the two most popular monuments for visitors.
  • Discounts of 10% in other monuments, museums, and places of interest are appreciable. The offer encompasses the important places that everyone should see.
  • However, you must visit these two places at least to be able to monetize the City Pass. If you also use to visit some other place with the offered discount, then it is really a must. Prepare your trip to Barcelona well to enjoy it
  • The Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell are the most popular attractions in the city. Time slots are required to distribute the number of visitors as well as for the tourist bus. Please note that after entering the Sagrada Familia or Parc Guell, you can stay as long as you like.

The City Pass is valid for an unlimited period. You can only visit each place once. For the tour Hop-on hop-off bus, it is important to know that the ticket is valid for one calendar day and not for 24 hours. You cannot start using it one day and end your tour the next. You must therefore organize yourself to take full advantage of the day you have chosen.

You can bring your children for free and they don´t need a ticket.

The Aerobus stops - (airport shuttle) - on the way to Barcelona are the following: > Airport - Plaça Espanya, Gran Via -Comte Borrell, Plaça de l'Universitat- Plaça Catalunya. Not a problem, it is the barcode which is important.

We recommend to make the reservation all together. The time slots for Sagrada Familia and Park Güell run out quickly so it is important to make the reservations together or close to each other.

This means that it's an open ticket, no need to visit it on a specific date.

There is no special rate for this but there is already so much discount included in the City Pass that it is worthwhile to purchase it.

Check also your spam. If you did not received them in your SPAM you probably did not filled in your availability yet. Please do and you will receive all tickets by email.

Unfortunately Sagrada Família or Park Guell doesn't allow any change after issuing the tickets.

At the entrance of Park Güell the staff will inform you how to download the audioguide.

This audioguide will be send to you by email so you can download the audioguide to your phone. We recommend to take your headphones so you can listen to the audioguide when you want.

The Barcelona City Pass does not include Public Transportation. With the Hop on Hop off Bus you do have an easy method to see the city in a relaxed and fun way! When you want to add the Hola Transport Card you can use your 10% discount code to purchase the tickets after your reservation for the Barcelona City Pass. The Hola Transport Card can be used directly at the metro station and you do not have to print your tickets.  Click here for more information .

The participating attractions do not accept changes in time slots or cancellations and therefore the Barcelona City Pass is non-refundable.

Tickets FAQ - All about your tickets to visit Barcelona

We are totally at your service to help you with any questions you may have before or after purchasing your ticket. Problems receiving your ticket? A question before you buy? We answer you within the day, all year round!

Contact us:  [email protected]  and specify your name, first name, order number if you have it and remind us your email - the same email as your order - to facilitate the processing of your file.

A 100% mobile ticket simply means that your ticket - which you will receive by email just after your purchase - will be - in its electronic form (PDF) - sufficient to enable you to make your visit with your smartphone or tablet. All you have to do is present it at the checkpoint. A simple scan will allow you to make your visit.

You can of course print your ticket if you don't have a smartphone, a tablet or if you simply prefer this option. Upon receipt of the confirmation email, simply print the PDF of the ticket. Then just present your printed ticket at the checkpoint.

A 100% skip the line ticket means that the ticket in question allows you to enter the place you want to visit in Barcelona without queuing, for example at the ticket office. All you have to do is present your ticket directly at the entrance. This way, you won't lose any time on your day of discovery.

On this same page or on the ticket reservation page - the services included with the purchase of your ticket are systematically indicated. See the "Included" or “Inclusions” section for details.

When you are asked to specify the date of your visit, it is because the monument or service you have chosen to visit also requests it. Most of the time, this date allows tourist sites to limit the number of visitors and therefore to make the visits more fluid. Please note that if you are not asked to specify the time of your visit, this means that you can arrive at any time to visit the site - while respecting the visiting hours of the site in question.

Same as before, but here in addition to the date - the monument or service you have chosen to visit - also asks you to specify the time you wish to visit. Once again it is a matter of limiting the number of visitors so that your visit is as pleasant as possible.

On the ticket that you will receive by email after your purchase, it is normally specified how much time - in addition to the scheduled time - you are granted in order not to lose your visit. Please note, for example, that a visit to Park Güell entitles you to entry 30 minutes after the stated time. The Sagrada Familia ticket indicates a time slot of 15 minutes. It is therefore important to respect this time slot. If the ticket does not specify a time slot, then the timetable must be respected.

We talk about combined tickets in some of our offers when they offer, for example, two places to visit in Barcelona. The ticket itself is not combined. It is two separate tickets that we combine to make a more economical and attractive offer. You will receive these two tickets by email. As they are separate you can use them according to your preference when the tickets are open or according to the dates and times you choose.

When purchasing your ticket, discounts are always indicated when available. For example, there are regular discounts for children in different age groups, ranging from free for very young children to discounts for seniors over 65 years of age. Discounted tickets for students are indicated in the same way.

Don't forget your proof of discounts - identity card, student card... - to be shown during your visit to Barcelona.

To pay online your tickets to visit Barcelona, are accepted the classic means of payment used worldwide such as:  Visa, Mastercard, Alipay, iDeal, GiroPay or Paypal.

The difference between tours and tickets is that both types of tickets allow you to visit the main monuments of the city with a guide who speaks your language for the tours (or guided tours) or by yourself with the tickets. You can find the guided tours and tickets in our section: Barcelona Tours

Can you please let me know if I can start using the bus at any hop on hop off bus stopor do I have to Placa Catalunya to start using the bus first time - change the electronic ticket for the paper one?

@annette - Barcelona.com (5 Oct 2023 - 09:02)

Hello annette, Our Barcelona city pass only includes the red and blue line of the official Hop-on Hop-off bus. Best is to check where you bought your pass to have more information, Best regards,

Hop On Hop off route - annette (5 Oct 2023 - 08:30)

I purchased the Barcelona Pass. However when I downloaded the HopOn HopOff map, it showed routes that are green and orange. The routes are totally different than the red and blue line routes I saw when looking at the Barcelona Turisto Bus. I even did a chat before purchasing and asked if it was the Turisto or City Tour. I was assured that it was the Turisto Bus with the red and blue lines. When I received the tickets, it stated City Tour Barcelona Hop-on Hop-off So...are these interchangeable?...or was there a mistake? (My ticket includes Sagrada Fast Track Ticket, Entry to Park Guell, Hop On/Off (2days), and Barcelona City audioguide, plus self guided tour of Park Guell-audio app)

what is the bus name? Is it the Turistic hop on hop off bus?

@Ron C - Barcelona.com (15 Aug 2023 - 10:56)

Hello Ron C In response to your questions about the Barcelona City Pass: >> 1. In all the pass formulas offered on this page, you can - at the time of purchase of your pass - choose one or two days of Hop on-Hop off ticket. >> 2 The difference between Aerobus and the Towers is that, in addition to the basic visits (Sagrada, Park Guell and city bus), you can also visit the tower or take the transfer bus from the airport. Another way to save money.

City Pass - Aerobus vs Towers - Ron C (15 Aug 2023 - 10:20)

We are considering the Barcelona City Pass, but not sure whether to purchase the Aerobus or the Towers options. Two questions: 1. We'd prefer to spread this over a two day period if possible and noticed both the Aerobus and the Towers options offer a 1-2 day Hop on-Hop off ticket. Does this mean by purchasing either of these, we'll have two days for the Hop on-Hop off? 2. What's the main difference between Aerobus and the Towers? They each look identical as to what's included. Thanks.

@Ekaterina - Barcelona.com (28 May 2023 - 10:14)

Hello Ekaterina, You can use the Barcelona hop-on hop-off ticket included in the city pass whenever you want during your stay. The date is just informative. Best,

Hop on hop bus - Ekaterina (28 May 2023 - 10:06)

Hello. We have bought a Barcelona pass that includes the Hop on hop bus and have chosen a concrete date to use the Hop on hop bus, but we are not sure if we can use it on that day. Can we use the ticket on another day, for example later by 2-3 days, or is the ticket fixed to the date written on it?

@Wayne Bidgood - Barcelona.com (19 May 2023 - 10:08)

Does the Towers ticket include Aerobus? - Monica (13 Apr 2023 - 09:06)

Does the Towers ticket include Aerobus? Will this Aerobus be available in July? (looks like not available now in April)

@Monica - Barcelona.com (11 Apr 2023 - 10:32)

Hellon Monica, The Barcelona city pass does not offer guided tours of the Sagrada Familia or Park Guell. It is better for you not to buy the city pass but these guided tours separately. You can easily find them in the ticket pages of our website. Enjoy your city tour!

Can we add guided tour on top of skip the line? - Monica (11 Apr 2023 - 10:16)

Can we add guided tour on top of skip the line for Sagrada Familia and Park Guell or do we need to pay it all again?

@Lynne - Barcelona.com (31 Mar 2023 - 09:40)

Hello Lynne, The nearest hop-on hop-off bus stop - red line - from the cruise port, is at the World Trade Center or at the bottom of the Christopher Columbus column in Port Vell. To join the blue line the nearest stop will be Placa de Catalunya. More info on this page: https://www.barcelona.com/barcelona_tickets/hop_on_hop_off_barcelona Have a great journey in Barcelona,

Question about bus route and pick up point - Lynne (31 Mar 2023 - 09:26)

We are arriving by cruise ship and I purchased the Barcelona City Pass for one day. We have our timed tickets as well for skip the line. How close are the buses to the port? Is Port Vell the stop we get on and then transfer to the blue line at Casa Batilo for Sagrada Familia? The hop on hop off bus line we want is the Hop on Hop off Turista line bus, correct? Not the Barcelona Hop on Hop Off. Confusing when both use Hop on Hop Off. Thank you

Barcelona Opentop bus - Ian (3 Mar 2023 - 11:50)

The commentary is reasonable. We visited Park Guell and the bus stop was a good 20 minute walk up hill to the park whereas tour buses were parked at the Park. Further there were no directions given by the bus crew. The Park has enough hills to climb without adding to the problems. Regarding the Park itself there were unnecessary path closures which entailed having to go down the hill before climbing back up. We also got off the bus at the Convent; we were given directions, but were not told that the Convent shut at 14.00 and this was 15.45!!!

@Anthony - Barcelona.com (2 Mar 2023 - 10:56)

Hello Anthony The hop-on and hop-off bus that is included in the city pass, runs every day between 9 am and 8 pm (7 pm in Winter) and runs every 5 to 25 minutes. Have a good journey!

Where can we find the hop on and hop off bus schedules that included in the ticket.

@Rob - Barcelona.com (16 Feb 2023 - 10:06)

Hello Rob, Indeed, we do not offer a city pass with Sagrada Família towers and Aerobus ticket. We advise you to buy the city pass with towers and to buy your Aerobus ticket for the transfer "Barcelona airport / city centre" on this page: https://www.barcelona.com/barcelona_tickets/aerobus_barcelona Have a nice stay in Barcelona!

Aerobus and Towers - Rob (16 Feb 2023 - 09:50)

We would like to see the towers at Sagrada Familia but also need an Aerobus ticket. Do we need to purchase one of those separately? And if so, which one do you advise?

@Rabdrana - Barcelona.com (15 Feb 2023 - 13:48)

Hello Rabdrana, Yes, you can get on the bus on any day you like after buying your Barcelona City Pass. The hop-on hop-off ticket is open, meaning that the date of purchase is "disconnected" from the date of use. However, once it is scanned on the bus, you must use it within the day for one-day tickets, the same day, and the next day for two-day tickets. Enjoy exploring the city!

@[email protected] - Barcelona.com (24 Jan 2023 - 13:46)

Hello Jack, You are perfectly right, in fact, it's only a one-way Aerobus ticket included in this Barcelona pass. We will make it more clear. You'll be able to find more Aerobus tickets on this page https://www.barcelona.com/barcelona_tickets/aerobus_barcelona Hope it helps you, thank you for your post!

Aerobus - 1-way vs. 2-way Tickets - [email protected] (24 Jan 2023 - 13:40)

Hello, Thanks for your response. However, I do NOT see a 1-way or 2-way Aerobus tickets option. When we select the Aerobus Option, it only gives us the 1-day or 2-day option for the Hop on/Hop off Bus. Where do we select the 2-way option for the Aerobus tickets? (We want the 2-day Hop on/Hop off Bus). Thank you. Regards,

@Jay - Barcelona.com (23 Jan 2023 - 09:32)

Hello Jay, 1-You can use your Aerobus ticket whenever you like - it is not linked to visits to the Sagrada Família or Park Güell. Once activated, your Aerobus ticket is valid for 90 consecutive calendar days. 2- You can use your Aerobus ticket only once if you have purchased a one-way ticket and twice if you choose a two-way ticket. Have a nice journey in Barcelona!

Can Aerobus pass be used the day before the Hop on/Hop Off Days? - Jay (23 Jan 2023 - 09:18)

1) We will be flying into Barcelona on a Friday and want to use the Aerobus pass to get to our hotel. However, we do not plan to use the Hop on/Hop off Bus passes until Saturday & Sunday. Is this an issue with using Aerobus pass a day before the Hop on/Hop Off Bus? 2) How many times can we use the Aerobus pass? We want to use it from the Barcelona Airport to our Hotel and then back to the airport from our hotel. Thank you.

Enjoy Barcelona!

@Brian - Barcelona.com (24 May 2022 - 08:28)

HelloBrian, Yes, you need to take 4 city passes in your case. But children do not pay the same price as adults for the Barcelona city pass, which makes it economically interesting also for younger people. If they are accompanied, the prices vary according to the following age groups: 13-29, 11-12, 7-10, 4-6 and 0-3. Enjoy your journey,

Hola BCN: Barcelona Tourist Travel Card from €15.58 (+Airport)

hola bcn unlimited transport card barcelona

Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a cheap Barcelona travel pass  that gave you unlimited transport?

That way, we’d avoid the single-ticket pitfalls of fumbling for change, worrying about time validity, and mumbling through some basic 9th-grade Spanish.

It’d also be nice if this tourist travel pass had the potential to save us money.

That brings us to the Hola Barcelona Card (formerly the Hola BCN).

Why Get an Hola Barcelona Travel Card

An all-inclusive transport card   with unlimited rides makes your holiday run like a clock.

Tourists have been buying Hola Barcelona Card (previously the Hola BCN Travel Card) for years because:

  • You get  unlimited public transport  on the metro, bus, tram, and funicular .
  • There’s  return Barcelona airport   transport via airport train, metro, or bus 46.
  • There’s  easy pickup at Barcelona Turisme kiosks.
  • It   eliminates the stress   of constantly buying tickets.
  • It’s cheap.

Remember: if you have any questions about Barcelona transport options , like how to get to any of the city’s top attractions from your holiday apartment write me in the comments below.

What Does this Barcelona Tourist Travel Pass Include?

Your super-handy Barcelona travel card will include  unlimited journeys in zone one on:

  • Overland trains (including the R2 from El Prat Airport to central Barcelona).
  • The metro (all lines including the L9 from Barcelona airport, a €9.00 value).
  • All TMB buses.
  • The Montjuic Funicular (careful! This is not the Montjuic Teleferic).

Some of you might be asking what exactly is zone one?

The simple answer is it’s the entire city centre and all suburban areas. Unlike bigger cities like New York and London, the area of zone one is the entire reach of the metro system.

This essentially encompasses all of the main tourist attractions in Barcelona .

Hola Barcelona Travel Pass Prices 2023

Strike-through prices are offline prices, so it’s best to book online with the 5% discount.

The price of a single ticket in Barcelona has increased to €2.40 in 2023, so your break-even point on the 48-hour pass is three uses a day – a virtual guarantee when visiting the city.

Here are the multi-day ticket prices:

These prices apply to everybody (including students, 65+ etc.) – only children under 4 ride free .

As you can see, buying this Barcelona transport pass online means you’ll spend just around €7.00 a day  for unlimited travel on public transport plus your connection from the airport to Barcelona city centre .

Keep in mind that the return metro service from Barcelona airport alone costs €10.30!

Tack on the Aerobus for the Ultimate Tourist Transport Pass

Why Not Another Discount Card?

The barcelona card.

The good thing about this discount Barcelona travel pass is that it costs much less than its sister the Barcelona Card , which is more aimed at people looking to get lots of Barcelona attraction tickets in addition to getting unlimited transport.

If I’ve confused you a little make sure to check out my page comparing the two tourist travel cards .

The Barcelona Pass

The popular Barcelona Pass is a great option because it gets you into mega-attractions La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell , and a one or two-day pass on the Bus Turistic .

You’ll also get 10% off your Hola Barcelona Card plus 10% discounts on virtually anything you can do in Barcelona from flamenco to Camp Nou .

Deciding Which Barcelona Travel Pass to Get

If you’re sure you want to see a lot of attractions, you may be better off going for the Barcelona Card or the Barcelona Pass – but as far as a straight-up travel card goes, the Hola Barcelona Travel Card is the cheapest and most efficient.

Still a bit confused about which discount pass to get? Make sure you write me in the comments below with a list of things you’d like to see and a budget, and I’ll do my best to help out 🙂

These personal ' Hola BCN Travel cards ' are available for 2, 3, 4, or 5 days and cover all travel by any bus, metro (subway), tram, and regional train in and around Barcelona (within Zone 1). All tourist attractions are located in Zone 1 of the Hola BCN Card . When you order the card in advance , you can pick it up when you arrive at the airport, so you can immediately use it to take metro line 9 to the city centre of Barcelona.

You can also buy separate public transport and metro tickets. A single metro ticket is relatively expensive. A T-Casual (ten trips) can be a better deal than an Hola BCN Travel Card if your hotel is centrally located in Barcelona and you won't often use the metro.

  • A separate metro ticket is valid for 1 hour and 15 minutes and can also be used when changing to a bus (you don't have to stamp it again).
  • Metro tickets get damaged easily. Never keep your metro ticket with your bank card, it will block the magnetic strip, resulting in an unusable ticket.
  • Metro tickets are not valid in: cable cars , the blue tram to Tibidabo , and the tourist buses.
  • The best place to buy metro tickets is at the TMB machines in the metro stations. They accept coins, notes, and credit cards.
  • Beware of pickpockets in the metro!

From the airport to the center of Barcelona

Choose the airport near Barcelona you will be flying to or from to read how to get from the airport to the city centre by public transport. Only El Prat airport has a metro connection to the city:

  • Airport Barcelona El Prat BCN (a 12 km from city center)
  • Girona Airport GRO (95 km north of Barcelona)

Barcelona Hop-on Hop-off Bus

You can also choose to take the hop-on-hop-off bus . A one-day ticket for the hop-on-hop-off bus costs €30 (€16 for children) and you can use the red, green, and blue lines as much as you want all day long. A two-day bus ticket costs €40. The buses tend to be crowded and there are often queues at the stops. If you want to get around quickly and cheaply, choose the metro. Via this website, you can buy tickets in advance at discount , or buy your tickets for full price at Plaça de Catalunya . This is also the biggest stop (and longest queue!) for the red and blue line.

Recommended: Barcelona Pass

Highly recommended! Almost every tourist wants to visit the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell . These sights are often sold out several days in advance and can have long queues. With this Barcelona Pass , Tiqets.com has combined them all into a single pass. The main benefits:

  • Fast track tickets, so no queueing. Pick your own timeslot while you book.
  • You will receive all your tickets by email within 24 hours. Unlike other discount passes, you don't have to pick up the tickets somewhere first.

What do you get included?

  • Ticket Sagrada Familia
  • Ticket Park Güell
  • 24 hour ticket for the Hop on Hop off Bus

Barcelona Metro - Underground - Tube -Subway

Updated Aug 24 2023

Barcelona’s metro ( underground / tube / subway ), opened in 1924 with one small section of the current Line 3 between Plaça de Catalunya and Lesseps, has continued to develop since, both in terms of the number of stops and indeed the number of lines that serve Barcelona. It is now one of the fastest and most reliable ways of getting across the city.

More information about Barcelona’s Metro

Now Barcelona’s metro lines, which are run by the TMB, cover the vast majority of the city , which means that they are used by both residents of Barcelona and tourists visiting the city.

Where to buy Barcelona metro tickets?

The 2-, 3-, 4- or 5-day Hola Barcelona travel card metro tickets can also be bought online . You can buy your Barcelona Card in Barcelona’s Tourist Information Centres or online.

Public transportation included and free admission to various museums

There are many places where you can buy the different metro tickets, and most people buy them in the automatic ticket machines that can be found in every metro station. Other locations include the TMB information points, kiosks, estancos (tobacconists shops that also sell stamps), and the stands in the streets that sell lottery tickets.

Differences between Barcelona Card and Hola Barcelona Travel Card The main difference between the Barcelona Card and Hola Barcelona Travel Card (also known as Hola BCN!) is that the latter only includes public transport while the Barcelona Card also offers free entry to various museums and places of tourist interest as well as discounts on cultural and leisure visits and some tourist services. Hola Barcelona Travel Card Barcelona Card Once you’ve bought your ticket or pass , you need to keep in mind that you will need to insert it when you enter each metro station. If you have bought a pass that allows integrated travel, you can use it on all of Barcelona’s public transport for 1 hour and 15 minutes from the first time you validated your ticket . It will count as one journey, but you still need to validate it on each method of transport that you use (bus, tram, FGC or Renfe). Tickets for other public transport in Barcelona Metro tickets are also valid on other forms of public transport in the city. Local buses + info Tram Zone 1 of the FGC and the Rodalies de Catalunya (RENFE). € Price of metro tickets in 2023

Although much more reasonably priced than the service in many other the European cities, during the past few years the price of metro tickets has risen significantly. It’s therefore important to buy the right ticket for your journey, and you may find that with the discounts available through the Hola Barcelona Travel card or Barcelona Card you could save quite a lot of money.

The Barcelona Metro lines

Barcelona’s Metro has a total of 11 lines that run underground across much of the city. Below we have included a map that shows the different lines, and a chart that shows more information about each line. We should point out that Lines 6, 7 and 8 actually form part of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), and not of the Metro, but the tickets and transport passes are the same as for the Metro.

PDF Barcelona metro network lines plan 2023

Metro to and from the Barcelona Airport With the extension of Line 9 of Barcelona’s Metro network it’s now possible to travel by Metro from the city to both of the airport’s terminals. Unfortunately there’s not a direct line from the heart of the city centre to the airport and vice versa, so you’ll need to change lines to get to Plaça Catalunya and other central areas of the city Price The standard ticket isn’t valid on the airport service, so you’ll need to buy a special ticket that costs €4.50 per journey. Journey time Between Zona Universitaria and Terminal T1: 32 minutes Between Zona Universitaria and Terminal T2: 27 minutes Barcelona metro timetables

Barcelona’s metro timetable varies according to the day of the week , with the service being extended over the weekends, so that people can get around easily late at night.

The frequency varies from line to line, but there will be many more trains at rush hour, and fewer late at night.

How To Use Barcelona's Public Transportation

barcelona metro tourist pass

This post covers the entire public transportation system in Barcelona.

We provide helpful information on tickets and how to save money on admission.

Cable Cars & Funiculars

There are several different public transit services in Barcelona, including the metro, trams, buses, and even suburban trains.

Single tickets are €2.40 per ride, and you can purchase them at vending machines at metro stations and aboard buses.

Although you can purchase single tickets, they are not valid across all services and are only available for metro and bus.

Multi-Ticket Cards

Barcelona’s public transit system also offers what is known as T-Casual Tickets .

These cards are valid for 10 journeys and they are available for as many as 1-6 zones on the metro, tram, bus, and suburban trains.

Here are the prices for these cards:

  • Price per ticket: €1.14
  • Price per ticket: €2.24
  • Price per ticket: €3.05
  • Price per ticket: €3.92
  • Price per ticket: €4.50
  • Price per ticket: €4.79

Zone 1 is the city centre, so chances are you won’t need any other type of ticket.

That said, if you plan to visit the outskirts of Barcelona, you may want to consider purchasing tickets for zones 2-6.

If you’re still not sure which zones you’ll need, the best way to avoid any problems is simply to purchase a travel card or tourist pass.

T-Casual and T-Usual

Unlimited Rides

In addition to the T-Casual tickets, you can also purchase a T-Dia pass with unlimited rides. Prices start at €10.50 for a 1-zone ticket.

There is also a T-Usual ticket which provides public transportation for one full month with prices starting at €40 for 1-zone tickets.

The best deal on admission for Barcelona public transport is via the Hola BCN travel card .

These passes can be purchased for 2-5 days at a time, and they provide unlimited rides on the metro, buses, tram, and suburban trains.

  • Price per day: €8.20
  • Price per day: €7.93
  • Price per day: €7.75
  • Price per day: €7.64

In addition to the Hola BCN card , you can also get unlimited travel on all metro, trams, buses, and suburban trains using the Barcelona Card .

This is a great option if you’re planning to visit several landmarks and popular attractions.

Please read our discount section for more details about the Barcelona Card.

Airport Transfers

Another factor to consider when purchasing tickets is whether or not you’ll need to use public transport to get from the airport to the city centre of Barcelona .

If you do need an airport transfer, it’s worth noting that you’ll need more than a single ticket to reach the city centre from Barcelona airport.

Barcelona Airport El Prat

While there is a metro train that can take you to the city centre, it requires a special airport ticket which is €5.15 one way and €10.30 round trip.

T-Casual tickets are not valid at the airport metro stops T1 and T2, but T-Dia and T-Usual do provide at least one airport transfer. You can also take an Aerobus for €8.90 .

That said, if you use the Hola BCN or Barcelona Card , this service will be included at no extra cost.

Considering that the price of these services is as little as €7.64 per day, you’d actually save money over the cost of a round-trip airport ticket!

In addition to all the other services available in Barcelona, there are also a few cable cars and funiculars at notable sites such as Montserrat , Montjuïc , and Tibidabo.

These transport options are not part of the public transit system and they have their own ticket prices.

That said, you can save money on tickets for some cable cars by purchasing your admission online ahead of time.

We’ll provide more details about these services in our section covering Cable Cars & Funiculars in Barcelona .

Barcelona’s metro service is arguably their most extensive public transportation system with 8 different lines and hundreds of different stops.

The only problem with a metro system this wide and varied is that it might be a little difficult to navigate.

Our guide will help you find some of the most notable and popular stops across each line so that you can find your way around the city with ease.

Barcelona Metro Map

( full map )

Metro Lines

  • Stops at Plaça de Catalunya, Arc de Triomf, Plaça de Sants, Marina, Plaça d’Espanya and more.
  • Stops at Sagrada Familia, The Monumental bullring, Plaça de Tetuan and more.
  • Stops at Plaça de Catalunya, Plaça d’Espanya, Plaça del Centre, Plaça Reial and more.
  • Stops at Sagrada Familia, Plaça de Sants, Camp de l'Arpa and more.
  • Mostly used for airport transfers, and stops at Zona Universitaria.

While there are other lines (Yellow, Light Blue, and Light Green), they don’t really include any notable stops that tourists and travelers might want to visit.

Line 3 makes a stop at Liceu, which is just a block away from Plaça Reial, where at least one of our self-guided Barcelona tours begins.

Metro trains arrive every 2-6 minutes and they observe the following hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 5 am - 12 am
  • Friday: 5 am - 2 am
  • Saturday: 24 hours
  • Sunday: 5 am - 12 am

You’ll find ticket machines at each metro station in Barcelona, making it easy to purchase admission no matter where you are.

There are currently 6 different tram lines and 3 separate networks in Barcelona, all of them accessible with either the Hola BCN card or the Barcelona card .

That said, the line most travelers will want to consider is Tramvia Blau (otherwise known as the Blue Tramway).

Tramvia Blau is the most historic tram line in the city, and its route passes through streets full of beautiful Modernista houses to the bottom of Tibidabo Mountain, where you can ride a funicular to the top.

If you’re interested in enjoying excellent views of Barcelona, this is arguably one of the best tram lines in the city. This tram also passes by CosmoCaixa, a popular interactive museum.

Sadly, Tramvia Blau is temporarily out of service, but you can use bus 196 to take essentially the same journey. Check our buses section for more details .

The other two networks in Barcelona are Trambaix (T1, T2, T3) and Trambesós (T4, T5, T6).

While Trambaix includes a variety of stops in the western half of the city, Trambesós covers the eastern and coastal region.

The Trambaix network provides stops at locations such as Zona Universitària, Palau Reial, Cornellà Centre, Plaça Francesc Macià, and other notable sites.

Alternatively, the Trambesós network starts at Villa Olimpica and includes stops at Marina, Teatro Nacional, Barcelona Zoo, Glòries square, Port Olimpic, and the Barcelona Forum.

Tram hours are basically the same as Metro hours with one key difference: they don’t offer 24-hour service on Saturdays.

Instead, you can expect Barcelona trams to run from 5 am - 2 am on all weekend days.

Barcelona currently has over 100 different bus routes that connect all the districts of the city, including the suburban areas.

Although this service provides a lot of notable stops, it’s a bit more difficult to navigate than either the Metro or Tram.

We cover some of the more popular stops provided by this service and the routes associated with them below.

  • Plaça d’Espanya | Line D40, V7, 23, 46, 65, 79, 150
  • Plaça de Catalunya | Line 19, 22, 24, 52, 62
  • Zona Universitària | Line H, 33, 7
  • Montjuïc Cemetery | Line 107
  • Tibidabo | Line 111, 196
  • La Sagrera | Line 96
  • La Marina | Line 125
  • Camp Nou | Line H
  • Plaça Reial | Line 59

Of all the lines listed above, we recommend using the bus to reach Tibidabo, where you can take the funicular to the top and enjoy spectacular views of Barcelona.

You may also want to use Line 59 to reach Plaça Reial, where at least one of our self-guided Barcelona tours begins.

There is also a bus line that can connect you with the airport known as the Aerobus .

While line A1 services Terminal 1, A2 will take you to and from Terminal 2.

The Aerobus provides stops at several popular locations in the city centre including Plaça d’Espanya and Plaça de Catalunya.

This service isn’t technically part of the public transit system, and as such, tickets are €8.90 .

Although the Aerobus is specifically designed for airport transfers, you can also use lines 46, N16, and N17 to get from the airport to the city centre, and these options will be much more affordable at €2.40 per single ticket.

Lines N16 and N17 are part of the night bus service, consisting of 17 different routes and running from about 10:30 pm - 5:30 am.

The main daily bus lines operate from around 5 am - 11 pm each day.

SUBURBAN TRAINS

As the name implies, Barcelona’s suburban trains are mainly designed to connect the suburbs with the city centre, and as such, they’re mostly used by locals.

That said, whether you have family or friends in the suburbs or you just want to see some of the outer neighbourhoods in Barcelona, this service can be quite useful.

Suburban trains also provide stops at several notable public squares and other sites you might want to visit in the city, so even though you might not use them for much, they could still be quite useful.

These are basically commuter trains, also known as rodalies in Barcelona.

While they are similar to the metro and tram services, you can tell the difference between them by the signifier “R,” which stands for “rodalies.”

There are also some S lines as well, and this letter stands for “Suburban.”

Here are a few of the more notable stops you can reach using the suburban trains/rodalies of Barcelona:

  • Plaça d’Espanya | S4, S8, R5, R6
  • Plaça de Catalunya | S1, S2, S5, S55
  • Castell de Torre Baró | R3, R4, R7
  • Arc de Triomf | R1, R3, R4
  • Estacio de Franca | R2
  • La Sagrera | R3, R4
  • Montserrat | R5

As you can see, there are several great reasons to use suburban trains, although some stops are arguably better than others.

For example, if you want to visit Montserrat, these trains will offer you one of the easiest and most affordable routes to the historic site.

Anyone interested in seeing the Castell de Torre Baró will also appreciate that there are multiple suburban trains servicing that stop, as well as landmarks like Arc de Triomf.

It’s also worth noting that the R2 Nord train services the airport from the T2 terminal, providing yet another affordable transfer to the city centre of Barcelona.

Ticket prices and operating hours are the same as the metro, and T-Casual/ Hola BCN cards are valid on suburban trains as well.

CABLE CARS & FUNICULARS

While there aren’t a lot of these services in Barcelona, there are a few you may want to consider while visiting the city.

We’ll cover the most notable examples in this section.

Montjuïc Cable Car

This service will help you ascend to Montjuïc Castle, and it also provides one of the best views in the entire city.

Ticket Prices

  • Single Tickets: €8.90/Adults | €7.10/Children | Children 0-4 are free
  • Return Tickets: €13.50/Adults | €9.70/Children | Children 0-4 are free

  • Save €2 with the Barcelona Card.

  • Mar-May Hours: 10 am - 7 pm
  • Jun-Sept Hours: 10 am - 9 pm
  • October Hours: 10 am - 6 pm

Purchase tickets or learn more .

Tibidabo Funicular

This service will help you ascend Tibidabo Mountain in order to reach the Tibidabo Amusement Park, and you can also enjoy great views from here as well.

  • €4 when purchased with tickets for the Amusement Park.
  • €7.50 without tickets for the Amusement Park.

The Tibidabo Funicular runs from 15 minutes before the park opens to 15 minutes after it closes, and it operates on the following days each week:

  • Mar-Dec: 7 days a week
  • February: Weekends only
  • January: Closed

Montserrat Cable Car

This service is designed to help visitors climb the mountain of Montserrat and see the monastery at the top, and it’s another excellent location to enjoy the views of Barcelona.

  • Single Tickets: €7.50/Adults | €4/Children | €6/Seniors
  • Return Tickets: €11.50/Adults | €6/Children | €9/Seniors
  • Free for children 4 and under.
  • Mar-Oct Hours: Every day from 9:40 am - 7 pm
  • Nov-Feb Weekday Hours: 9:40 am - 5:15 pm
  • Nov-Feb Weekend Hours: 9:40 am - 6:15 pm

In addition to the Hola BCN Card , there is also a tourist pass known as the Barcelona Card .

This service provides admission to dozens of popular attractions as well as unlimited access to all public transit including metro, trams, buses, and suburban trains.

Here are just a few of the locations you can visit for free using the Barcelona Card :

  • National Art Museum of Catalonia
  • Museum of Contemporary Art
  • Frederic Marès Museum
  • Chocolate Museum
  • Egyptian Museum
  • Olympic Museum
  • Picasso Museum
  • Music Museum

In addition to covering admission prices for several popular attractions, this pass also offers additional discounts on other activities including the following excellent examples:

  • Palau Güell | 25% off
  • Gaudí Experiència | 20% off
  • Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar | €1 off
  • Barcelona Bus Tours | 20% off
  • PortAventura World | 20% off
  • Montjuïc Cable Car | €2 off
  • L’Aquàrium de Barcelona | 20% off
  • Barcelona Zoo | 20% off
  • Opera & Flamenco | 20% off

With the addition of a discount on the Montjuïc Cable Car, this could be a much better option than the Hola BCN Card for some travelers.

When you compare prices with the Hola BCN Card , this pass is typically €5-€7 more per day, but all you really need to do is use it for a few of the free attractions each day to save a decent amount of money.

Here’s a comparison to help you understand what we mean:

Hola BCN Card Prices

Purchase the Hola BCN Card or learn more .

Barcelona Card Prices

  • Price per day: €16/Adults | €8.67/Children
  • Price per day: €14.50/Adults | €8.75/Children
  • Price per day: €12.60/Adults | €8/Children

Purchase the Barcelona Card or learn more .

The first thing to note is that while the Hola BCN Card does not offer passes for kids, the Barcelona Card has discounted services for all children between the ages of 4-12.

Both cards provide free service to kids under the age of 4.

If you’re traveling with children, you could actually save more money buying a Barcelona Card for your children than a Hola BCN Card , and both services provide unlimited access to the public transit system.

Although adults will pay €5-€7 more per day for the Barcelona Card , that’s essentially the price of 1-2 attractions included with the pass at no extra cost, and you could save more than that each day with the discounts on tours and other activities!

In other words, if you’re planning to take a tour, visit a museum, or see one of the attractions included with this tourist pass, it makes a lot more sense to purchase a Barcelona Card than a Hola BCN Card .

For more details, please read our post covering Barcelona tourist attraction discount passes .
