What is the Tour de Force 9/11 Memorial Bike Ride

From the beginning.

The “Tour de Force” was started in 2002 after NYPD Det. Robert De Paolis (ret) decided to ride his bike to honor the fallen police officers that gave their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks. He was then joined by 7 other members of the NYPD and one member of the Bronx District Attorney's Office and along with four volunteer support personnel, they cycled their way from the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, to Ground Zero, NYC.

In 2003, the Tour de Force was incorporated in the state of New York as a nonprofit charity and later gained 501(c)3 status from the IRS.

History of the Tour

The Tour de Force has evolved into a four-day, 280 mile ride, in which 300 law enforcement officers from across the U.S. and abroad, along with some family and friends, participate to raise funds for the families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Each participant, support team member and staff, raise funds and put in a lot of work throughout the year to make this event a huge success.

The Charity

The fundraising supports the families of fallen police officers.

The ride is a 4 day ride.

We remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks.

Please consider helping to make a difference. I am already preparing for the 2023 ‘Tour de Force’ Bike Ride, a charity which provides essential support to families in need. More specifically, this charity honors those who have given the ultimate sacrifice and supports families of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty. ‘Tour de Force’ (TDF) (a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit), began with two New York City Police Officers riding their bicycles from the Pentagon to Ground Zero in 2002. Today, TDF comprises 300+ riders from across the country participating in a 280-mile, four day ‘9/11 Memorial Bike Ride’ to support this wonderful cause. For the past few years I have been honored to participate in this ride. After witnessing first-hand what an amazing organization TDF is and what a meaningful impact it has on the children and widows/widowers of the fallen, I want to do all that I can to continue and support their mission. Since its first year in 2018, Sun Valley Tour de Force has donated over $1.9 million dollars to programs supporting the local nonprofits in Blaine County, Idaho. Laser focused on building a healthy community, event proceeds have contributed to supporting families struggling with food insecurity, childhood education, mental health services, and more.

Tour de Valley

Come out for the 35th Tour de Valley in beautiful downtown Waynesboro, VA .  In 2022, they added a new 25 mile route for the first time.

Hosted by Augusta Cycling Club , this year we feature fully staffed rest areas with facilities at each stop. your ticket price also includes an event t-shirt (guaranteed for online pre-registration only) and a meal after your ride provided by one of two food trucks on site at our venue. Ride with GPS links and maps will be posted at www.augustacyclingclub.org weeks prior to the event.

There are ride distances for everyone from a Century (100 miles), Metric Century (62 miles), 40 miler and new for this year a 25 mile route.

SUN VALLEY TOUR DE FORCE

Started in 2018, Sun Valley Tour de Force provides the Sun Valley area with a chance to view exotic and vintage cars, and for a select few, the opportunity to see just how fast those cars can go.

Sun Valley Tour de Force, July 20-22, 2023, is three days of events for car enthusiasts, sponsors and guests. Highlights include no-speed limit runs at Phantom Hill, a curated car show, and a Cars & Comedy show. The event raises funds for The Hunger Coalition.
