Our first three cast members have been announced! For the first time in Martian history, a real-life couple will be performing as the married couple: Max George as Parson Nathaniel and Maisie Smith as Beth , his wife. Plus, Enter Shikari's Rou Reynolds will be performing as the enigmatic Artilleryman.

Jeff Wayne will be back on his podium conducting the 8-piece Black Smoke Band and 36-piece ULLAdubULLA Strings. Liam Neeson returns in 3D Holography as The Journalist, and the final all-star cast will be announced soon!

Jeff Wayne's musical version of The War of The Worlds is back with a monumental tour, arriving just in time to celebrate 130 years since the publication of HG Wells’ dark Victorian tale.

The show is conducted by Jeff Wayne and featuring Liam Neeson in 3D holography as The Journalist, who recounts his story of survival from the Martian invasion of 1898.

One of the most trailblazing arena tours of all time, Jeff Wayne’s musical version of The War of The Worlds returns with a musical spectacular like none other, with the production remaining a favourite to millions around the world, exciting audiences of all ages.

The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience contains themes of Martians, religion, violence and death.

This experience is suitable for children 10+ and adult supervision is required. Children under 16 years old need parental or guardian consent through the waiver before admission, and they must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The experience includes multi-sensory effects such as virtual reality, motion simulators, uneven surfaces, confined spaces, air blasts, scent, and temperature changes. These effects are designed to fully immerse guests in the experience and create an impact.

One of the most trailblazing arena tours of all time, Jeff Wayne’s musical version of The War of The Worlds returns with a musical spectacular like none other, with the production remaining a favourite to millions around the world, exciting audiences of all ages.

The Wanted’s Max Georg e and ex-Eastenders star Maisie Smith , met and fell in love on the 2020 series of Strictly Come Dancing , and now they’ll be playing the married couple Parson Nathaniel & wife Beth, in the iconic musical.

“The moment I met Max & Maisie I knew they were the perfect fit for the role of Nathaniel and Beth,” says Jeff Wayne “Maisie has such a melodic but powerful voice, which compliments Max’s dramatic vocals wonderfully. Plus, being a couple in real life will add to their on-stage charisma and chemistry, and I’m delighted they’ve joined the 2025 The Spirit of Man Tour as husband and wife.”

Enter Shikari's Rou Reynolds also joins the cast as the enigmatic Artilleryman, which has previously been performed by Jason Donovan and Kaiser Chiefs' frontman Ricky Wilson.

Jeff said: “Since 2006 when we began touring arenas around the world, I’ve always been thrilled to welcome what is now a long list of great artists. This coming tour, for the role of The Artilleryman, I reached out to the lead singer of the wonderful Enter Shikari - Rou Reynolds - a massive talent whose voice thrills, and his personality matches. He will create his own interpretation of the enigmatic Artilleryman.”

In 2006, TWOTW was already considered a cutting-edge production with six trucks filled to the brim. By 2025, marking 19 years of live touring, the production will be up to 12 trucks, with a host of new ingredients and special effects to challenge and excite the senses.

The cast will include Max George, best known as the lead singer of the boy band The Wanted, and Maisie Smith from Eastenders, plus Strictly Come Dancing and the feature film The other Boleyn Girl.

THE WAR OF THE WORLDS is a new play, devised by the company and written with Isley Lynn. Dealing with the creation, allure and implications of ‘fake news’ and moving between the worlds of Orson Welles’ infamous 1938 radio broadcast and that of contemporary podcasters, it contains an award-nominated sonic landscape from Benjamin Grant (recent work with Complicite, The National Theatre, The Wardrobe Ensemble and, currently, Schaubuhne Theater, Berlin).

The production opened in London, selling out a five-week run in London and a four-week run in Edinburgh. It is touring at the midscale in the UK and internationally in 2021-22.

But we did believe.

We believed that Martians landed in New Jersey. We believed a water tower was an alien war machine. We believed a man walked on the moon. We believe everything the internet tells us and now the end of the world is being broadcast live...

There is nothing more alluring than a good story. When Orson Welles adapted The War of the Worlds, he wanted to create a thrilling radio drama that would ‘feel’ real. In fact, it felt so real that it caused hysteria amongst a public just getting used to the outside world invading their living rooms via the radio. Fast forward to 2016, and the internet has replaced the radio as the medium through which we make sense of the world. We remain just as susceptible …

Inspired by H.G. Wells’ sci-fi novel and Orson Welles’ classic radio play, this legendary science fiction thriller is playfully reimagined for our era of Fake News and ‘alternative facts’.

Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds is back with a monumental new 17-date (19 shows) UK and Ireland arena tour, arriving just in time to celebrate 130 years since the publication of HG WELLS’ dark Victorian tale. Conducted by Jeff Wayne and featuring Liam Neeson in 3D holography as The Journalist, who recounts his story of survival from the Martian invasion of 1898.  

Hot off the back of a UK arena tour, and sell-out date at Wembley this year, Enter Shikari’s Rou Reynolds confirms he’ll be putting his vocal weight towards battling the Martian invasion, as he announces he’s joining the cast of Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds  The Spirit of Man Tour 2025.  Rou will be playing the role of The Artilleryman, which has previously been performed by Jason Donovan, Kevin Clifton, Adam Garcia, David Essex, and Kaiser Chief’s, Ricky Wilson to name a few.  Rou joins an all-star cast alongside The Wanted’s Max George (Parson Nathaniel) and Maisie Smith (Beth, The Parson’s Wife) – further cast to be announced.

In 2006, TWOTW was already considered a cutting-edge production with six trucks filled to the brim. By 2025, marking 19 years of live touring, the production will be up to 12 trucks, with a host of new ingredients and special effects to challenge and excite the senses..

The experience whisks you back to 1898, Victorian England, with 24 interactive scenes over an hour and 50 minutes . You’ll be plunged into the panic and chaos of a Martian invasion ; taking you from the first foreboding signs of eerie green gas spied through a telescope, to finding shelter in a Victorian house and fleeing down the claw of a Martian Handling Machine . Along the way, you’ll encounter all sorts of characters who will help you make it out of these troublesome times alive and in one piece – well, just about.

The adventure is brought to life through a unique mix of technology, music and theatrics. With virtual reality, augmented reality and holograms plunging you into new worlds in a heartbeat – one where you’ll see 300-foot Martian Fighting Machines do what Guy Fawkes failed to do and lay waste to Parliament in a spectacle of explosions. Alongside them, multisensory effects place you right inside the action  – think pyrotechnics, vibrations, weather simulation – while the live actors and artfully authentic sets tie everything up in a nice, unearthly green bow. The Wanted’s Max George and ex-Eastender’s Maisie Smith, met and fell in love on the 2020 series of Strictly Come Dancing, now they’ll be playing the married couple Parson Nathaniel & wife Beth, in the iconic Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds ‘The Spirit of Man’ arena tour in 2025.

The announcement unleashes a series of ‘firsts’, as we hear Maisie sing for the first time, Max act for the first time – as well as this being a monumental first for The War of The Worlds, as Jeff Wayne casts a real-life couple into this marriage of Nathaniel and Beth.  The role of Nathaniel has previously been played by Jason Donovan and Blue’s Duncan James, whilst Steps’ Claire Richards and singer Kerry Ellis have filled the past roles of Beth in early Jeff Wayne live productions of TWOTW.

Enter Shikari's Rou Reynolds is also joining the all-star cast, following in the footsteps of Jason Donovan and Kaiser Chief’s Ricky Wilson, as he transforms into the enigmatic Artilleryman.

Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds is coming to Manchester – with a Liam Neeson hologram

The virtual Neeson takes the role of The Journalist, who recounts his story of survival from the Martian invasion of 1898.

Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds will be coming to Manchester as part of a monumental new arena tour.

The much-loved musical spectacular, based on the dark Victorian tale by H. G. Wells, will feature a 3D hologram of Liam Neeson.

The Spirit of Man Tour will also see the stage filled with a 35-foot fire-breathing Fighting Machine, alongside the eight-piece Black Smoke Band and 36-piece ULLAdubULLA Strings.

The rest of the new cast and further details will be announced in the coming months.

The War Of The Worlds will be at the new Co-op Live arena in 2025, as part of the 17-date, 19-show tour of the UK and Ireland.

Its arrival in Manchester will coincide with the 130th anniversary of the world-famous production.

And after 19 years of live touring, the enormous musical experience has grown to mind-blowing proportions.

It was already considered a cutting-edge production in 2006 with six trucks filled to the brim – these days, it will be up to 12 trucks to bring the phenomenal special effects to life.

Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’ incredible Tudor girl band wow a jam-packed audience at The Lowry.

Six the musical, created by a budding pair of Cambridge students back in 2017, is now a world-conquering smash hit, with productions springing up all over the world.

From Broadway to South Korea, the West End to Australia and eventually The Lowry in Salford, it’s a slick 80-minute musical that is unlike any you have seen before.

Styled like a pop concert, Six the musical is concise and tight – with every wife having their own turn in the spotlight.

I’m not going to spoil it for you, because that would simply be unfair, but what I will say is the cast is bursting at the seams with raw talent.

From the opening introductory number to the confessional balled that takes place in the middle, there is no weak link throughout the entire performance.

The six powerhouses dance together in their bedazzled boots throughout, consistently in time and always reacting to the witty remarks taking place on stage.

The live band on stage adds to the electric concert atmosphere and encourages the audience to interact as if they were catching their favourite set at Glastonbury.

At one point, some audience members couldn’t resist standing up and dancing to the epic tunes that the historic girl band were harmonising effortlessly before our eyes.

A stand out moment was Catherine Parr’s soulful plea to the audience, where for the first time during the evening you couldn’t hear a ‘woo’ or cheer serenade through the auditorium.

Overall, Six the musical rewrites your GCSE history books in the best way possible, encouraging young women to consider Henry VIIII’s iconic story in a different light.

101 Dalmatians have arrived at the Palace Theatre in puppet form, offering family-friendly entertainment, heart warming themes and one EVIL villain. 

With extremely impressive production value, ranging from magnificent set pieces to lavish costumes, as well as some of the best puppets I’ve yet to see on stage – 101 Dalmatians will leave all entertained, from little ones to… not so little ones. 

I came into this production of 101 Dalmatians in Manchester in quite an interesting position, because if I’m being completely honest, I don’t think I’ve watched any of the movie adaptations or read any versions of the original novel since I was a young child.

So in what is quite a rarity for myself, I was watching a musical in which I hadn’t a clue what was going to happen. This made for a fun and entertaining ride throughout the entire show, although I’m sure those who’re already familiar with the plot will still find as much enjoyment as I did. 

The show as a whole was thoroughly spellbinding – offering fantastic ensemble numbers, belly-laugh comedy, a sincere and wholesome plot and as we’ll discuss in a moment, a truly fitting nemesis. 

To highlight individual performances, I’d like to first start with the protagonists of our story. Samuel Thomas as Tom, Jessie Elland as Danielle, Linford Johnson as Pongo and Emma Thornett as Perdi.

These four made a superb litter (little dog based pun for you there), spending the entirety of Act One as a foursome, building up their characters and demonstrating to the audience how important they all are to one another.

Then in Act Two splitting up into their separate human/animal dynamic duos, both venturing on different quests with the sole purpose and saving the 99 other dalmatians. 

Special shout-out to Linford, Emma and the other members of the ensemble who throughout the show expertly maneuvered the K9 puppets in such a way that the biggest compliment I could pay them, is to say, that after a while I forgot they were even there. 

Now for the grey area between protagonists and villains… Casper and Jasper, portrayed wonderfully by Charles Brunton and Danny Hendrix. This dynamic duo offered constant comic relief and had by far the most fleshed out character arcs of the entire show. Transforming from clueless sidekicks, to misguided villains all the way through to repentful heroes. 

This brings us to the one, the only… Cruella De Ville. Portrayed by Kym Marsh, there was no escaping the fact that she was the person people in the audience were most eager to see. With expectations high and being tasked with taking on the role of such an iconic villain, I’m happy to say that Kym 110% delivered.

With an ominous stage presence, Kym held the audience in the palm of her hand throughout every scene she featured in. Offering up stellar vocals and dance moves to match, she really was the villain the dalmatians needed. 

All in all, 101 Dalmatians thrills as it offers big set pieces, flashy musical numbers, terrifying villains, magical puppetry and all out family-friendly entertainment. 

The show runs until 10 August and with limited tickets still available , I urge you all to get yourself down to the Palace Theatre in Manchester and enjoy 101 Dalmatians.
