Avoid Yeadon office, the reviews don't apply to them. Extremely disappointing.

Well I expected better from Althams, and I have been very let down by them. In a nutshell, I booked a break with a friend a few months ago and was not told that we would lose the deposit. I did not receive any documents which told me this - not even the full booking conditions. Unfortunately the break had to be cancelled. I went into the Yeadon store and was told we would lose the deposit but without any explanation - just told that they could actually charge us a further £50 but chose not to! And said that repeatedly when I asked to be shown where it stated the deposit would be lost. I was then shown a document which did not even mention forfeiture of deposits at all, with the feeble 'excuse' that this document explained the loss of deposit. Then some woman in the corner started chipping in, nothing at all to do with her - and I had to politely ask if it was okay for me to just deal with the woman I was dealing with! I did of course take this up with regional managers who basically refused anything at all, no refund, no gesture of goodwill, nothing. When I told them this was unacceptable, I was ignored. I see that Althams are highly rated but assume that must be a different office, it can't be Yeadon - the staff are useless. I will not be letting this go until I get a fair response. Avoid. Update - once again Althams have ignored the issues here - which are that they scammed me by not advising me of the retention of deposits snd did not supply me with the dicumentation explaining this. To tell me after I am forced to cancel is unacceptable. I reiterate - AVOID.

We understand your concerns regarding the non-refundable deposit. Deposits are paid to secure a booking and, unfortunately, they are non-refundable. However, please note that any part payments made after the initial deposit and before the final balance payment, typically 10-12 weeks prior to departure, are generally fully refundable. Once a deposit is made to us, it is immediately forwarded to the tour operator with whom your contract is held. The tour operator, not the travel agency, is responsible for the non-refundable nature of the deposit. This policy is beyond our control and is confirmed in the booking conditions you were referred to and signed at the time of booking. We hope this explanation clarifies the situation.

Excellent Service

Having told ourselves we did not need a travel agent for a routine Package holiday we called at Althams in Otley for some advice on a holiday in Kefalonia. We received a warm welcome from Karhryn the manager whose help and advice was invaluable so we booked there and then! Just helpful advice and no hard sell guided us to exactly what we wanted. She also sorted out a future more complex trip for us. If you need any help with holiday planning without any unwanted sales pressure call in at this branch.

Excellent Customer Service

Excellent Customer Service The team at the Brigg branch have been brilliant. They have helped us with everything from a big family holiday with a disabled guest through to a romantic break in Rome. We can't recommend them highly enough, we look forward to using them again soon.

Do not book with this company

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. THE OTLEY OFFICE IS RUN BY PEOPLE THAT FIND IT FUNNY WHEN SOMEONE HAS A ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. THE MANAGER OF THE OTLEY BRANCH WENT OUT OF HER WAY TO TREAT US BAD To give context - Myself and my partner were parked just along from this store. We are both disabled badge holders. Whilst stationary, a heavy goods vehicle crashed into the side of our car. The manager of Althams who’s initials are K.A then felt it appropriate to come out and shout at us about how we shouldn’t even be parked there as it says keep clear. We were actually parked behind the keep clear and weren’t blocking and entries / exits. Althams are also not in charge of policing the roads, they’re there to sell holidays. When I asked what negative impact we were having on their business, they couldn’t answer because they knew they were in the wrong. A shop keeper a couple of doors down made us aware that he’d had his car hit in that spot 4 times and that each time, Althams staff were rude and nasty to him. It doesn’t set a good example for your company when you have a bunch of 50 odd year old women all belittling and berating people in the street over something that doesn’t concern them or their business. I’m sure it isn’t in their contact of employment to police the traffic and to try and tell disabled badge holders where they can and can not park. A lot of disabilities are hidden and the way these women spoke to us and treated us had a bad impact on us. We were clearly shook up and yet this was the moment all 3 shop workers of Althams thought it appropriate to laugh loudly in our faces & belittle us because in their opinion we shouldn’t have been there. I admit it got my back up and sue to the sheer embarrassment, the stress they caused, the humiliation and the upset, I did start shouting back at them. They then tried to turn it all on us. We were the victims of an RTA and yet they couldn’t even ask if we were ok or were hurt. We’d like to thank the businesses either side of Althams who were very kind, empathetic, made sure we were ok and offered help. SHAME ON ALTHAMS STAFF. I will not recommend them.
