Buffalo Rock Safari Camp is perfectly located in a private and secluded part of the Nkambeni Private Concession , within the borders of the world-renowned Kruger National Park .

Offering visitors the opportunity to commune with nature in a pristine and unspoilt wildlife-rich wilderness, Buffalo Rock Safari Camp is completely unfenced and regularly welcomes roaming wildlife, including members of the Big Five .

Although the Camp is called Buffalo Rock, Lion and Leopard are regularly spotted sunning themselves on the rocky outcrop close to the camp. To further enhance your safari experience at Buffalo Rock you will enjoy authentic under-canvas accommodation, reminiscent of the early pioneer days of wildlife safaris in Africa.

In order to leave the smallest possible footprint in this pristine wilderness, Buffalo Rock Safari Camp is purely powered by solar energy, making this camp an ideal choice for eco-warriors .

Bedtime could be your favourite time of the day at Buffalo Rocks Camp as you drift off to sleep with just a thin layer of canvas between you and the wonderful sounds of the African bushveld. The mornings are equally thrilling as you awaken to the sound of dawn chorus of birds, welcoming you to another beautiful sunrise and another perfect day in Africa.

Buffalo Rock Camp has a resident chef on-site to prepare delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners, with an emphasis on serving hearty South African fare, accompanied by an excellent selection of premium South African wines.

TENTED SUITE

Each of the permanent tents has been constructed on a solid wooden deck and has its own en-suite shower room with toilet and basin. Your canvas “walls” feature large picture windows which allow in plenty of light and offer views of the bush. Each tent has very comfortable extra length twin beds. Each room has a charging station for your cell phone, a coffee-making station and a fan.

Most dinners are served alfresco in the Boma, where tables are set up around the central barbecue (braai), under the starry African skies. As you enjoy your delicious, freshly prepared meal you can listen to the magical sounds of the bush.

At Buffalo Rock Camp life revolves around the wildlife and your daily game drives will be the highlight of your holiday, or you could take a walk on the wild side as you join a thrilling guided bush walk in Big Five territory.

GAME DRIVES

Echo Africa offers morning, afternoon or full-day game drives both in the private Nkambeni traversing area and inside the un-fenced boundaries of the Kruger National Park. You can also opt to join a late afternoon game drive, enjoy sundowners in the wilderness and then experience an exciting Night Drive with floodlights, giving you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals and predators on the move.

GUIDED BUSH WALKS

This is a wonderful way of getting up close to many of the smaller creatures, plants and birds that we often overlook on a game drive. If you are up for a great adventure you can join one of our excellent (armed) guides on foot in the concession. This is a great opportunity to do some bird watching and photography and identify many endemic plant species.

Specifically designed to leave the smallest possible foot-print in this pristine wilderness, the 150 en-suite rustic tented suites offer an authentic tented stay experience. Your timber and canvas suite overlooks the bush and you can enjoy the rare privilege of an outdoor shower under the wide African sky.

Each suite has an outdoor deck area with bush views, perfect for morning coffee or an evening sun-downer. For your comfort, each room has a mosquito net and air-conditioning. Some of the suites are suitable for guests with limited mobility – please enquire when booking.

All units can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children under 12. Every unit is equipped with:

• 2 twin beds and 2 bunker beds.
• Coffee and tea station.
• Indoor and outdoor showers.
• Deck with sitting area.

Game Drives:

Half or full-day safaris in the Kruger National Park are available, at an additonal cost, in specially designed vehicles that allow closer interaction with wildlife. Picnic lunches from the restaurant can be packed on request. 

Self-Drive Game Viewing:

Nkambeni is just a few miles from Numbi Gate which makes it very easy to set off on your own for some self-drive game watching within the Kruger National Park. This could be a good option for families if their young children get restless on the organised game drives.

Guided Bush Walks:

A guided bush walk is a wonderful way of getting up close to many of the smaller creatures, plants and birds that we often overlook on a game drive. If you are up for a great adventure you can join one of our excellent guides on foot in the concession. This is a great opportunity to do some bird watching and photography and identify many endemic plant species.

Open-vehicle safaris; River rafting; Quad bike tours; Bush walks; Cultural tours; Panorama tours; Hot air balloon rides; Elephant back safaris; Golf; Horse riding; Local pub tour; Swimming pools at the Camp.

Visitors needing some rest and relaxation can enjoy lounging around the swimming pool or just relaxing in the comfortable lounge area with a good book. To stay in contact – if you must – there is Wi-Fi available in the public areas. The pool and bar areas overlook a water hole and there will usually be some wildlife to see as you sip a cocktail or relax with a cool drink.

Guests are treated to authentic South African bush dinners under the stars, around an open fire, or à la carte in the restaurant. There is a delicious breakfast buffet, an à la carte lunch menu and set menus for functions.

Nkambeni Safari Camp actually forms part of a private Concession/Contractual Park area of 12 000ha WITHIN the KNP, which makes our lodge even more spectacular, with additional benefits to our guests.

SanParks conservation fees are not included in the price of the set out packages that we offer. Conservation fees will have to be paid upon entering through the tourism control point at Numbi gate. 

Please note that you must adhere to the rules of KNP and the Numbi Gate.

Lunch or Dinner depending on the rate you have selected is not included in your rate, but there is a resturant on site.

Children between the ages 6 – 12 years will pay 50% of the adult sharing rate. Children over 12 are charged as adults.
