• Our New Year's Eve Cruise Packages are special charter services and not part of our regular services; River Roamer, single, return, season tickets, carnets or any other tickets valid for our regular services are not valid for these cruises.
• There are no concessionary rates for our New Year's Eve Cruise Packages.
• Children are welcome, but there are no concessionary rates for our New Year's Eve Cruise Packages.
• Tickets for our New Year's Eve Cruise Packages must be purchased online in advance. Tickets are valid for the New Year's Eve cruise on 31 December 2023 for the selected package only, and are not valid on any other Uber Boat by Thames Clippers regular services.
• It is the passenger’s responsibility to be at the departure pier at least 15 minutes before departure as there will be no refund or exchange if the boat is missed.
• All travel is subject to our Conditions of Carriage

About the event

New year’s eve 2024 aboard silver sturgeon with the mayor’s fireworks & the illuminated river..

Cruise through London’s glistening riverscape aboard our sixty-one metre river yacht, Silver Sturgeon, and celebrate the arrival of 2025 to the chimes of Big Ben with Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne.

Since mid 2021, the Illuminated River artwork on all central London’s bridges from London Bridge to Lambeth Bridge, creates an ever-changing colourful light display with a unique viewpoint from the Thames. To enhance the experience of moving gently through the architectural lighting artwork by artist Leo Villereal, the tables and decks will be specially lit by candle light.

Eat, drink & make merry with a seasonal menu from small UK producers by Executive Head Chef, Marcus Cunningham, an inspired mood and dance floor mixed soundtrack with our resident DJ and matched fine wines.

Board the Silver Sturgeon at Tower Bridge Quay beside Tower Bridge, with glasses of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne on arrival and take in the panorama of London’s shimmering river banks from your dining table or the candle-lit, teak deck bar; interiors will feature sculptural winter displays and booth seats draped with soft faux fur throws.

Your delicious menu will be sleekly served – from amuse bouche to petits fours – on the main deck tables, decorated for the occasion. A Champagne toast will accompany the chimes of Big Ben at Westminster and the spectacular mayor’s fireworks, enjoyed from both our spacious open decks.

Four stops are advertised, though one is not really a different destination as Westminster and London Eye are just on opposite sides of the river at the same location. Great on board commentary though not a full “tour guide” type, which wasn’t part of the advertised package but funny and interesting never the less. Staff were lovely on board. Irritating that a boat was cancelled but the person scanning our ticket at the London Eye stop didn’t tell us so we wasted 30 mins hanging out on the cold pier when we could have been walking around taking photos etc or sat in the park with a drink. This meant our time was cut short and we couldn’t do the Greenwich part of the trip because we were going to the theatre and the children had got fed up with the extra waiting. There were lots of Uber boats that came and went whilst we were waiting, maybe that would have been a better option? The views from the boats were great though. Would give 3.5 stars if could. The poor element was the lack of facilities for a disabled guest. We had to put down a firm foot to obtain a ramp - and the staff were irritated by our insistence despite us having requested the ramp and received confirmation. There was no boarding staff visible before the boat arrived and no facility to allow a disabled passenger immediate access - instead he had to queue (not good). Unfortunately I have to report that my experience with this company is awful and I would recommend anyone reading this find an alternative cruise operator. Having obtained vouchers beforehand, and read through every element of the terms and conditions, I was informed upon arrival that they now read differently and I could not use my vouchers for the cruise I needed. The impossibly rude ticket booth attendant seemed to take great joy in telling me I couldn't use my vouchers, and in turn making my 6 year old upset. No reasoning was offered, no assistance was offered, and the only solution was to hand over £80, which I was not willing to do. I will also be logging a formal complaint with the company and with my voucher provider as the experience was unacceptable, made 100 times worse by the human being. Our only complaint would be the relentless request for gratuities as we disembarked. We were informed on atleast 4 occasions that service fees were not included with our booking and therefore any gratuities would be appreciated! Please give yourself extra time to travel to the pier due to road and station closures. We recommend using London's Vast Public Transport Network. Restrictions on New Year's Eve prevent all Taxi's and Private Vehicles to drive anywhere near any of the piers

The Gala Dinner Cruise is a 5-hour family river cruise suitable for families with children over five years old. It includes a glass of champagne on arrival, a 4-course dinner plus tea or coffee, half a bottle of wine per person and a small bottle of mineral water per person.

There will be live music and a dance floor. Glass of champagne at midnight, and a bar on board if you want to buy more drinks. This cruise requires formal attire. The Galaxy Plus Cruise is a 3.5-hour cruise, only available for over-18s. It includes a glass of champagne on arrival and another one at midnight. Canapes will be served during the cruise, and two bars on board where you can purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

London does have some fantastic restaurants and venues where NYE can be magical. So even if you can’t book one of the restaurants with views of the London Eye, don’t worry, as there are many options. Some of the best restaurants with fantastic views in London are Aqua Shard ,  Madison ,  Sky Bar , Duck and Waffle or  Sushisamba .

You may not be able to see the London Eye NYE’s Fireworks from these restaurants, but you will have excellent views and be able to see loads of fireworks from all over London at midnight.

For security reasons and due to the large number of people who attended the event each year, they created a ticketing system to make the event safer.

For this reason, it has been necessary to buy tickets for the New Year’s Eve fireworks in London for the last few years to see them live from the banks of the Thames. As you can imagine, tickets tend to sell out very quickly.

Tickets to see the New Year’s Eve Fireworks in London 2023 will go on sale on Friday 3rd November at 12 pm. 

Areas to see the New Year’s Eve fireworks in London

Tickets can be purchased for five different areas to see the New Year’s Eve fireworks in London:

• Blue Area: Area located between Westminster Bridge and the Embankment tube station, on the sidewalk in front of the London Eye. In my opinion, the blue zone is the best area to see the New Year’s Eve fireworks. This area can be accessed from 8 pm to 10.30 pm, and can be reached from Victoria and Green Park tube stations.
• Red Area: Area located between Embankment and Temple stations, on the sidewalk in front of the London Eye. This area will open from 8pm to 10.30pm, and can be reached from Holborn and Blackfriars tube stations.
• White Area: On Westminster Bridge. It is only accessible from the south bank of the river from Waterloo and will not be accessible from Westminster tube station. The view of the London Eye from here, in my opinion, is possibly not the best, but still definitely worth it. This area will be open from 8 pm to 10.30 pm.
• Green Area: area located behind the London Eye. This area can be reached easily from Southwark Station. This area will be open from 8 pm to 10.30 pm.
• Pink Area: Waterloo Bridge. This area can be reached from Holborn Station and Waterloo. This area only offers partial views of London Eye. This area will be open from 8 pm to 10.30 pm.
• Orange Area: Disabled Area. It runs from the Albert Embankment to St. Thomas Hospital and will be accessible from Waterloo Station.

» How to see London New Year’s Eve Fireworks without tickets

As the New Year’s Eve fireworks are huge, they can be seen from other places in London. So you could dine in a nice restaurant and then watch the fireworks elsewhere.

It is possible to see the fireworks for free from the highest points of London. Primrose Hill or Hampstead Heath offer great views of London’s skyline, and you can see the fireworks from here, even though they are a bit far. Some restaurants in London will also have great views of the London Eye, a perfect plan if you want to dine in one of the best restaurants in London and see the fireworks live.

> Primrose Hill : We have watched London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks from Primrose Hill for a couple of years, and this is a very popular place chosen by Londoners. There are a few restaurants nearby, so an option is to book a sit-down meal somewhere nearby and climb up Primrose Hill for the views. Nearest Tube Stations: Chalk Farm/Swiss Cottage.

> Parliament Hill in Hampstead Heath : We went to see the fireworks from here in 2013, and the truth is that it was quite an interesting experience as it rained a lot! This is probably the highest and farthest point from which you can see the New Year’s Eve fireworks in London. We recommend having dinner at one of the many restaurants in Hampstead or Belsize Park and then going up Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath. Even though London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks are quite far away, I loved seeing how suddenly, at midnight, the entire horizon lights up with fireworks all over London. The nearest tube station is Hampstead.

> Alexandra Palace : This is one of the highest points in London. From here, you will also see loads of fireworks from different neighbourhoods, with the London Eye’s fireworks in the background. Many people choose this area because it is outside the hustle and bustle of central London, but it is even further than Parliament Hill. The nearest tube stop is Wood Green.

See the New Year’s Eve fireworks in London from a bridge:

Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge are the closest to the London Eye, and these bridges are part of the ticketed areas, so you need to buy tickets if you want to watch the fireworks from any of these bridges.

Vauxhall Bridge is a bit further away, but you can see the fireworks from here and don’t need a ticket.

> Vauxhall Bridge : From this bridge, you can partially see the London Eye and, therefore, a large part of the New Year’s Eve fireworks. Although it is not usually one of the most popular, the advantage is that you can see the fireworks for free. We watched the fireworks from Vauxhall Bridge one year, and only arrived 10 minutes before midnight and could see them with no problems! The nearest tube stations are Vauxhall and Pimlico on the Victoria Line.

Many people think that as it’s a bank holiday, everything in London will be closed and that you won’t be able to do any sightseeing if you are visiting London. Hi, I have got an important question regarding NYE fireworks: IF I manage to secure tickets: What is the dress code? How do I get food? Should we book a restaurant in the Blue/pink whatever zone we will be in? Are there food stalls? Can we buy drinks and dinner there? Should we bring or we allowed to bring Food and Drinks? 😅 we have not been attending this event before and will be visiting London from Cologne… I love this Website, very informative and helpful! Hi Anna! Entry to the different zones is normally from 8 or 8.30 pm, and there are normally food stalls and toilets in every zone. There are no restaurants inside the zones, so it really is a case of buying food from the food trucks that will be available. Dress code is informal, people can wear whatever they want. Aim for the blue zone if possible! Tickets go on sale this Friday in case you haven´t seen. Hope this is helpful, and that you have a spectacular NYE in London!

The newly inaugurated Riverside Debussy will begin her second year of service on April 2 with a 7-night voyage during the prime of tulip-blooming season in the Dutch countryside. Guests cruise roundtrip from Amsterdam, The Netherlands , and visit Arnhem, Nijmegen, Antwerp , Gent, Middleburg, Veere, Dordrecht, and Rotterdam . Anthophiles have another chance to catch Tulip Time on the April 23 departure.

For their parts,  Riverside Ravel and Riverside Mozart will commence cruising on April 10 and 17, respectively. Riverside Ravel will cruise a 3-night, Rhône sampler from Lyon to Avignon, with visits to Viviers, Tarascon and Arles, while Riverside Mozart brings guests on an Easter voyage on the Danube River from Passau, Germany , to Budapest, Hungary . Guests on this itinerary visit Ybbs, Melk, and Bratislava, Slovakia , and observe Easter Sunday in Vienna, Austria .

German Heritage on the Rhine, Main and Moselle Rivers

Riverside Debussy unveils Medieval castles; quaint and charming towns; and dramatic wine valleys along the Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers throughout the spring and summer seasons. Seven-night itineraries alternate departures from Amsterdam and Basel, Switzerland and feature some of the most historic cities, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rhine Gorge with its highest concentration of picturesque castles, and the wine valleys of the Middle Rhine.

In mid-September,  Riverside Debussy combines the Rhine and Main rivers on a 7-night voyage from Amsterdam to Nuremburg. On this voyage, guests will include a stretch of the 106-mile Main-Danube Canal in Bavaria. A return voyage in late-October brings Riverside Debussy back to Amsterdam .

Travellers can also choose shorter, 3- to 6-night voyages throughout the year that spotlight on the Netherlands , the Moselle River's wine valley or the Upper Rhine Valley. These cruises depart from Amsterdam , Dusseldorf , Frankfurt , Trier, and Basel, Switzerland .

Danube Discoveries

Riverside Mozart  will cruise a variety of 3- to 7-night itineraries mostly between Passau and Budapest , and bring guests to captivating Bavarian, Austrian, Slovakian, and Hungarian cities and towns. Many of these voyages includes cruising or stopping in the Austria's historic and picturesque Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In late-May, Riverside Mozart embarks on two, 3-night segments on the Lower Danube from Budapest to the Iron Gates in Serbia. Travellers can combine the subsequent, 4-night return itinerary back to Budapest to combine all three itineraries into a 7-night roundtrip voyage and does not repeat stops.

Riverside Debussy  will also cruise the Danube River in the autumn. A 7-night voyage brings guests on a special itinerary from Nuremburg to Budapest , where she then ventures to the lesser-travelled Lower Danube on four voyages of 3- and 4-night itineraries. Guests will marvel at the natural majesty of Europe's deepest and longest gorge flanked by the Carpathian Mountains and the Balkan Hills; medieval fortresses and castles from the Roman, Ottoman, and Habsburg empires; and cultures and cities once veiled behind the Iron Curtain. Departure cities also include Belgrade , Serbia, and Giurgiu, Romania . Travellers can combine these itineraries for a 15-night, Lower-Danube adventure, cruising roundtrip from Budapest , or cross Europe from the Black Sea to the North Sea on a 23-night grand voyage, departing October 7 from Giurgiu to Amsterdam .

South of France and Burgundy Sojourns

Riverside Ravel offers 4-, 5- and 7-night itineraries on France's Rhône River between Lyon and Avignon, with visits at Arles, Viviers, Tain L'Hermitage, and Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Tarascon, Port St. Louis and Vienne. Riverside Ravel also ventures up the Saone River on eight summer and autumn cruises that visit the Côte Chalonnaise and Maconnais wine regions of Burgundy. These cruises stop at Macon , with tour options to Chalon and Tournus, as well as destinations on the Rhône River. Prince Harry lines up London trip after not speaking to Prince William, Kate Middleton for a year

Prince Harry is set to return to the UK in just a few weeks — sparking questions over whether he will finally see Prince William and cancer-stricken Kate Middleton , after not speaking to his brother in more than a year. 

The Duke of Sussex, 39, is slated to speak at a special service marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, the Olympics-style contest for wounded service personnel which he founded, at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8. 

The potential visit comes as it was revealed Monday that Harry has lost an initial bid to appeal against a High Court ruling over his personal security in the UK.

In February, he lost his legal challenge against the Home Office’s decision to change the level of his personal security when he visits the UK as he’s no longer a working royal.

A well-placed source said, “Everyone is asking whether Harry will see his father and will he see Kate and the Wales kids — if not his brother?” 

Harry has spent the past few days in Florida with his wife, Meghan Markle, 42, where they were seen canoodling as they made their new polo show for Netflix. However, she is not expected to join Harry in the UK.

Harry founded the Invictus Games to help wounded servicemen and women, and the British Government has now launched a £26million bid to host the games in Birmingham in 2027.

They were most recently held in Düsseldorf, Germany last summer and have also been hosted by cities including Orlando, Florida, in 2016 and Sydney, Australia, in 2018.

The timing of next month’s visit could well allow Harry to see his father, King Charles, who is also battling cancer, and potentially Kate and his nephews, Prince George and Prince Louis, and niece Princess Charlotte.

Harry is keen to mend ties with his family and jetted more than 5000 miles from his home in California to see his dad in London after it was revealed he was sick back in February – spending just 40 minutes with him.

A source in the Sussex crowd said, “I can imagine that Harry may see his father, and check in, but things are still very fraught with William, this is the real problem.”

William and Harry have not spoken for more than a year in the wake of Harry’s bombshell memoir, alongside hurtful claims that Charles and Kate were the “racist” royals who asked what color Harry and Meghan’s children would be.

While Harry was told about his father’s illness before it was made public, both he and his wife were kept in the dark about Kate’s medical crisis and found out at the same time as the rest of the world, sources told Page Six.

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement. They also are believed to have reached out directly to William and Kate.

We revealed how Charles is set to invite the Sussexes’ and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the Scottish royal estate, Balmoral, this summer as he is desperate to see his grandchildren.

However, the Suxxeses and the Wales could visit separately.

Reps for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were unavailable for comment.

LOS ANGELES – Prospective homebuyers are facing higher costs to finance a home with the average long-term U.S. mortgage rate moving above 7% this week to its highest level in nearly five months.

The average rate on a 30-year mortgage rose to 7.1% from 6.88% last week, mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said Thursday. A year ago, the rate averaged 6.39%.

When mortgage rates rise, they can add hundreds of dollars a month in costs for borrowers, limiting how much they can afford at a time when the U.S. housing market remains constrained by relatively few homes for sale and rising home prices.

“As rates trend higher, potential homebuyers are deciding whether to buy before rates rise even more or hold off in hopes of decreases later in the year,” said Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s chief economist. “Last week, purchase applications rose modestly, but it remains unclear how many homebuyers can withstand increasing rates in the future.”

After climbing to a 23-year high of 7.79% in October, the average rate on a 30-year mortgage had remained below 7% since early December amid expectations that inflation would ease enough this year for the Federal Reserve to begin cutting its short-term interest rate.

Mortgage rates are influenced by several factors, including how the bond market reacts to the Fed’s interest rate policy and the moves in the 10-year Treasury yield, which lenders use as a guide to pricing home loans.

But home loan rates have been mostly drifting higher in recent weeks as stronger-than-expected reports on employment and inflation have stoked doubts over how soon the Fed might decide to start lowering its benchmark interest rate. The uncertainty has pushed up bond yields.

The yield on the 10-year Treasury jumped to around 4.66% on Tuesday — its highest level since early November — after top officials at the Federal Reserve suggested the central bank may hold its main interest steady for a while. The Fed wants to get more confidence that inflation is sustainably heading toward its target of 2%.

The yield was at 4.64% at midday Thursday after new data on applications for unemployment benefits and a report showing manufacturing growth in the mid-Atlantic region pointed to a stronger-than-expected U.S. economy.

“With no cuts to the federal funds rate imminent and with the economy still strong, there is no reason to see downward pressure on mortgage rates right now,” said Lisa Sturtevant, chief economist at Bright MLS. “It seems increasingly likely that mortgage rates are not going to come down any time soon."

Sturtevant said it's likely the average rate on a 30-year mortgage will hold close to 7% throughout the spring before easing to the mid-to-high 6% range into the summer.

Other economists also expect that mortgage rates will ease moderately later this year, with forecasts generally calling for the average rate to remain above 6%.

Mortgage rates have now risen three weeks in a row, a setback for home shoppers this spring homebuying season, traditionally the housing market’s busiest time of the year.

Sales of previously occupied U.S. homes fell last month as home shoppers contended with elevated mortgage rates and rising prices.

While easing mortgage rates helped push home sales higher in January and February, the average rate on a 30-year mortgage remains well above 5.1%, where was just two years ago.

That large gap between rates now and then has helped limit the number of previously occupied homes on the market because many homeowners who bought or refinanced more than two years ago are reluctant to sell and give up their fixed-rate mortgages below 3% or 4%.

Meanwhile, the cost of refinancing a home loan also got pricier this week. Borrowing costs on 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, often used to refinance longer-term mortgages, rose this week, pushing the average rate to 6.39% from 6.16% last week. A year ago it averaged 5.76%, Freddie Mac said.
