Plaza de la Virgen

It is one of the most popular and visited places in Valencia, it is located in the historic center and nearby we find the main facade of the Basilica and the “Door of the Apostles” of the Cathedral, the “casa del Vestuario,” as well as various commercial establishments, bars and small restaurants.

“Plaza de la Virgen” is one of the best known and most visited places in Valencia. Not only nowadays, but also in the past because it was the center of the Roman forum along with “Plaza de la Almoina.” It forms a quadrilateral located in the middle of the two major streets of every Roman city: the cardo, which would roughly correspond to today’s “Calle San Vicente Mártir,” crossed by the decumanus which was today’s “Calle Caballeros.”

Mercado Central

If you are a lover of gastronomía, savor its frechi produce, its colors, its flavors, and appreciate the richness, variety, and quality of its cuisine, Valencia’s Central Market is a paradise not to be missed. A must-visit in the city, a gigantic pantry of modernist architecture, containing all the fresh produce from the orchard and all the taste and smell of the Mediterranean inside. Don’t hesitate, take a walk through the Central Market, your senses will thank you!

Europe’s largest fresh produce market, in addition to standing out for its rich and varied gastronomic offerings, is located in one of the city’s most emblematic modernist buildings. With an area of more than 8,000 square meters, it is richly decorated with references to the produce of Valencia’s orchards and gardens. Its structure, consisting of iron columns reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower, tiles and stained glass windows, make it an architectural attraction not to be missed. But you will not only enjoy the container, the contents also overflow with joy, colors, aromas, flavors….. so much life and so much Mediterranean, in short. 

Mercado de Colon

Once a market, today it houses flower stalls and the best restaurants, but it has always been one of the most beautiful buildings in Valencia. The Colón Market was designed by architect Francisco Mora Berenguer in the early 20th century; in fact, it is one of the most representative works of Valencian modernism, reminiscent in some of its features of Gaudi’s buildings in Barcelona. So much so that it has been declared a National Monument.

It is a large building of 3,500 m², divided into three naves, ending at either end with two brick and stone gates in the shape of a triumphal arch. The polychrome facade has large decorations, with ceramic details typical of the area, as well as a wrought-iron gate surrounding the entire structure. All elements have undergone careful restoration. Today, the height of the roof and the many entrances make the market an open and bright space.

City of Arts and Sciences

If you come to Valencia a visit to the City of Arts and Sciences is a must. Work of the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, several of its buildings have become icons in the city. It is a scientific and cultural leisure complex which can be enjoyed with family or friends, covering around two kilometres of the former riverbed of the River Turia. 

You will need tickets to enter the Hemisfèric, the Science Museum and the Oceanogràfic, and you can buy them separately or combined for the buildings that you would most like to visit.

The 5 best places to explore by bicycle in Valencia

With over 200km of cycle paths and 300 days of balmy sunshine, Valencia is an ideal biking city that’s entirely flat, spanning a grid system with access to coastal boardwalks, expansive boulevards and cinematic nature parks. 

Not only that, Valencia’s well-thought-out urban regeneration turned an oft-flooding river into a lush winding park, making for one of Europe’s more unique cycle routes and a fabulous way to wind towards the Mediterranean. In fact, such is Valencia’s progress in continuously adding cycle lanes, green spaces and sustainable transit initiatives that it was awarded the European Green Capital 2024 . 

So on that note, here are some of the best places to ride in Spain ’s third-largest city.

1. Turia Gardens

Best for families

Torres de Serranos to the City of Arts and Sciences; 3.1 miles (5km)

After a devastating flood in 1957 when nearly three-quarters of Valencia was inundated by floodwater, the city diverted the Turia River around its western outskirts to the Mediterranean Sea. The drained riverbed was then converted into a serpentine parkland running for 5.5 miles (9kms) through the city to the space-age City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias) complex. 

The 14th-century Torres de Serranos towers are a good place to begin a cycle through the Turia Gardens (Jardines del Turia) as they’re near many of the city center bike hire shops, and are an interesting historical sight in their own right. Rolling down the stone ramps, access to the park’s cycle lanes is easy and soon you’ll be gliding past tall palms, bright flowerbeds, angular sculptures, sports fields and languid parks with locals picnicking under the sun.

Look out for the Puente de las Flores on the way south; it’s one of many bridges, but this one is lined by hot pink hanging flowers and makes for a gaudy photo stop. Eventually the bizarre shapes of the City of Arts and Sciences will appear on the horizon, and the pools and promenades flanking the buildings mean there’s ample space to marvel at the architecture. They’re host to some fascinating exhibitions, and there’s the world-class Oceanogràfic zoo just behind which is perfect for families (you can actually see some of the zoo’s multicolored birds from the path behind the enormous curved L’Agora building).

2. Seafront Promenade (Paseo Maritimo)

Best for leisurely coastal rides

Marina to La Patacona; 2.5 miles (4km)

Starting from the extended arm of its marina, Valencia’s beaches sweep north for several kilometres and are 200 yards wide in places. They’re also entirely separate from the city center, so the atmosphere here feels like an escape to an unhurried seaside town.

Look out for the huge crisscrossing flags fluttering outside the marina (one Spanish flag and the other denoting the region of Valencia), as this is the best place to begin a leisurely ride along the palm-fringed boardwalk flanking the beach’s golden sands. 

Head north along Playa de las Arenas where some of the busiest hotels and restaurants look out toward the glittering Mediterranean, including the ornately-tiled La Pepica where writer Ernest Hemingway regularly visited for paella in the 1930s.

This section may involve a bit of slaloming as it’s busy with dawdling tourists, but things ease off a little after turning the right-angled corner up to Playa del Cabanyal. Glide past locals throwing themselves around on the sand playing volleyball, and consider a beer and bocadillo pitstop at the Beachbol bar, where its wooden deck and sun-faded parasols look like they could be basking in the Caribbean.

Continue up to Playa de la Malvarrosa , arguably the most well-known of Valencia’s beaches. Dotted with restaurants, there are rows of handy bike racks behind the palms meaning you can stop if you’d prefer to eat here instead. Bring Valencia’s most relaxed cycle route to an end at the idyllic  Playa de la Patacona , where lazy hammocks are available for rent if you want to watch the sun go down in comfort.

3. The Old City 

Best for soaking in the sights

Loop starting and ending at Plaza de la Virgin; distances vary

Central Valencia’s old town is a whitewashed collection of medieval cathedrals, lively squares, narrow alleys and handsome boulevards. It’s also where the majority of bike hire shops are. Essentially, it’s a place for an easy-going ride to take in the sights, with no particular route to follow though I’d try to avoid the busy shopping hub of Carrer Colón, and especially the often gridlocked area near Valencia’s Modernista train station (Estación del Norte) . 

I’d suggest beginning by rolling through the Plaza de la Virgen , with its ornate fountain sculpture watched over by the gothic  Catedral de Valencia  (the Basilica of the Virgin Cathedral) and the soaring bell tower El Miguelete . Head south beside the cathedral’s imposing walls before emerging into the now fully pedestrianized Placa de la Reina, with its bright palms and busy bistros showing how much nicer things can look without cars (go back in time on Google Streetview if you don’t believe me).

A short ride down Carrer de Sant Vicent Màrtir brings you to the Plaça de l'Ajuntament, arguably the most spectacular of Valencia’s squares with its multicolored fountains and grand neoclassical Ayuntamiento dominating the scene (another busy main road was removed from here in recent years).

If you head west past the Gothic Torres de Quart towers and dreamy botanical gardens, you can join the Turia River Garden for a lush glide toward the Torres de Serranos and loop back to Plaza de la Virgen.

4. L'Albufera Nature Park 

Best for nature enthusiasts

Pinedo to El Palmar; 7.7 miles (12.5km)

While Valencia’s beaches are away from the busy center, they’re still very much part of the city. But if you want a real escape then  Parque Natural de la Albufera (L'Albufera Nature Park ) might be the answer. Sitting just south of Valencia, this bucolic landscape of rice fields, swaying reeds, swooping cormorants and a vast lagoon looks nothing like the rest of the city. 

Public transit is an option, but riding there is easy too with the flat terrain and a dedicated cycle lane running parallel to the coast at Pinedo. It’s a good 30 to 40 minutes to the lagoon however, so I’d recommend this only to those in good physical condition (especially if visiting during the humid summer). 

Shortly after the lagoon appears, you’ll come across the Mirador El Pujol and this is a good spot to enjoy electric boat rides around the lake with a guide who’ll explain the park’s biodiversity and how the sustainable new boats don’t disturb nature. 

Continue down Carrer de Vicent Baldoví or head off onto one of several side paths where the silence and tranquility of L’Abufera really comes into its own. The journey along Carrer de Vicent Baldoví concludes at the small hamlet of El Palmar, where there are a host of friendly neighborhood restaurants to relax with a traditional paella or an Agua de Valencia. 

5. Via Verde Xurra

Best for getting off the beaten path

Torre Miramar to Puçol; 10 miles (16km)

As well as redeveloping its untrustworthy river, Valencia has also put its former rail lines to good use and the Via Xurra is a meandering 16km greenway that once formed part of the old Valencia to Zaragoza line. Now a pink tarmac pathway, it’s an easy-going flat route the entire way. 

Beginning at the Torre Miramar roundabout in the Benimaclet neighborhood, it passes through pretty olive and orange groves, then past the village of Alboraya before emerging into languid farmland after the Carraixet river. 

The route continues through villages and groves with the distant Sierra Caldonera mountains in the distance all the way up to the town of Puçol. Feel free to turn back here, though there are some curious sights if you feel like venturing east toward the coast, including the 13th-century Puig Monastery and the Marjal de Rafael wetlands.

Tips for cycling in Valencia

• While Valencia has made huge strides with its cycling infrastructure, it can still feel like a very car-centric city, especially outside the old center. So make sure to stay in your cycle lane and watch out for traffic at all times. 
• The city’s Valenbisi bicycle hire scheme allows visitors to pick up a bike from 275 stations across Valencia available 24/7. A one-week pass costs €13.30 and is best for visitors.
• There are plenty of independent bike hire shops in the old town, especially around Plaza de la Virgen.

But what are the best biking routes in Valencia? Where can you rent a bike? And are there any cycling rules you should be aware of? In this guide, I’ll answer all these questions and more, so you can make the most of your biking experience in Valencia.

Cycling rules in Valencia

Valencia is one of the most bike-friendly cities in Spain. Its smaller and more compact size compared to Madrid and Barcelona make it a biker’s dream come true. Need more convincing? Here are three reasons why Valencia is great for cyclists of all backgrounds and abilities.

1. Great climate

Valencia has a nearly perfect climate, with over 300 days of sunshine per year, mild winters, and warm summers. This makes biking in Valencia truly enjoyable regardless of the season.

In Valencia, it rarely ever rains and virtually never snows. Freezing cold temperatures are not common either. In the rare cases when the mercury gets close to 0ºC (32°F), it does so during the early hours of the morning, rather than during the day.

However, I won’t sugarcoat it. Summer months, especially July and August , can get quite hot. But the sea breeze helps a lot, and there are heaps of people biking in Valencia even in the heat of summer.

2. Bike lanes everywhere

Biking is an eco-friendly mode of transportation and it aligns perfectly with the local government’s efforts to promote sustainability, reduce air pollution and make Valencia a climate-neutral city by 2030.

As a result, Valencia has a well-developed network of over 160 km of dedicated bike lanes. Additionally, even on streets where bike lanes are absent, bicycles often enjoy preferential access.

But that’s not all. Valencia also has bike lanes that extend far outside the city. This provides plenty of opportunities for exploring the surrounding areas and enjoying day trips from Valencia by bike .

3. Easy navigation

Valencia is as flat as a paella pan and this makes it super easy to move around by bike, regardless of your experience or fitness level.

Cycling adds a lot of flexibility to your Valencia itinerary , as you can stop whenever you want and for as long as you want. This makes it great for exploring Valencia at a slower pace, allowing you to stop at a local café you serendipitously encounter or discover hidden gems that you might otherwise miss.

Last but not least, biking is quicker than walking and in busy areas or during peak traffic hours it can also be faster than taking public transport .

Joining a bike tour is one of the best things you can do in Valencia and for good reason. Bike tours can be a pleasant and entertaining way of discovering the city and meeting like-minded people while relying on the expertise of a local guide.

Valencia is home to several companies that provide bike tours. These tours usually follow an optimized itinerary that includes some of the best landmarks and sights in Valencia .

Bike tours in Valencia are usually offered in Spanish, English, Italian, or Dutch, last between 2 and 4 hours, and are suitable for pretty much anyone. However, the route and time of the day the tours take place will slightly differ from one company to the next.

Most guided bike tours will take you through the Old Town before following along the Túria Park in the direction of the City of Arts and Sciences. From there, some of the tours continue to the beach while others return to the starting point.

Valencia has dozens of private bike rental shops as well as a public bike-sharing scheme called Valenbisi.

Private bike rental shops

If you’re planning to go biking in Valencia for anything from a few hours to a few days, my advice is to rent a bike from one of the local rental shops.

Many bike rental shops have a variety of bicycle models to suit a wide range of needs and preferences, such as bikes fitted for men or women and smaller bikes for kids. Besides regular bikes, some shops also offer electric bikes and scooters.

The average price per day for a light city bike is around €10, insurance included. If you want to extend your rental period, you can simply call the shop to let them know, without the need to physically stop by. Discounts apply for several-day rentals.

Bike subscription

If you are living in Valencia and biking is your preferred transportation method for moving around the city, you might consider a bike subscription.

Kleta is a bike rental company located in the Ruzafa neighborhood, and they offer 1, 3, and 12-month subscriptions. Their monthly subscription for a regular bike is priced at €34.90, while the annual subscription comes at a discounted rate of €19.90 per month.

Besides regular bicycles, they also have electric bikes at a higher cost. All their plans come with unlimited repairs and an anti-theft guarantee.

Valenbisi has over 275 bike stations spread throughout the city and their bikes are available 24/7. They offer a super affordable weekly or annual subscription for €13.30 or €29.21 respectively.

One disadvantage of using Valenbici, however, is that their bikes are quite heavy, so they might not be suitable for everyone.

Another disadvantage is that you have to return the bike to the docking station within the first 30 minutes; otherwise, you’ll be charged €0.52 for the first hour and €2.08 for each subsequent hour.

Since they don’t have a physical shop, you have to create an online account with them first. This can be done either through their website or mobile app. You’ll have to give them your bank details and authorize them to make a charge in case you don’t return the bike within the first 30 minutes.

For kids between 14 and 17 years of age, authorization must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

There are many cycling routes you can follow in Valencia. Of course, in the city, your chosen route will mostly depend on where you want to go. But if you feel confident in your biking skills, I also recommend you go for a ride outside the city to discover Valencia’s surroundings.

1. Túria Park

The Túria Park offers the best biking route in Valencia. This urban park stretches for roughly 9 km, from the City of Arts and Sciences to Bioparc, embracing the Old Town.

The park was meticulously planned and created in the former riverbed of the Túria River after it was redirected to the outskirts of the city in the 1960s. It is now one of the largest urban parks in Spain.

What makes this a great biking route is that there are uninterrupted bike lanes from one end of the park to the other. Since you won’t have to cross any roads, biking here is super safe so it’s great for even less experienced bikers and kids.

Also, there are many places you can visit on the way. Several landmarks, museums , and gardens are located along this park. Additionally, you can enjoy a picnic in the shadow of the trees or soak up some sun on the lawn. For more inspiration, check out my post on what to do in Turia Park .

2. Albufera Natural Park

If you want to venture outside the city, the Albufera Natural Park has some of the best cycling routes you can dream of. Situated to the south of Valencia, this nature reserve has a flat terrain and a seamless network of bike lanes that extend from the city. This makes it easily accessible and super popular with bikers.

The Albufera Natural Park is huge. It extends from Pinedo to Cullera over approximately 21,000 hectares. To get here, first pedal in the direction of the City of Arts and Sciences. From there follow CV-500/V-15, cross the bridge and voilà, you’ll have arrived in Albufera.

One of the most popular bike routes in Albufera takes you to El Palmar, the little village where paella was born. The village is not particularly pretty, but it more than makes up for it with fantastic paella and rice restaurants. As you can expect, some of the best paella restaurants in Valencia can be found here.

From the city center of Valencia to El Palmar there are some 22 km each way so the bike ride takes a bit over 1 hour. The bike lane goes along the beach, passing through the El Saler pine forest and continuing along the Albufera Lake.

A big part of Albufera Natural Park is dedicated to the cultivation of rice and has a pretty awesome landscape worth exploring by bike. Also, Albufera sunsets are legendary, both in summer, when the fields are green, and in winter, when the flooded rice fields create the perfect mirror for the end-of-the-day spectacle.

The rice fields are at their greenest from late June to August. However, these are also the hottest months, so the best time of the day for biking is either early morning or late afternoon.

There are no paved bike lanes through the rice fields, but there are plenty of dirt roads with very little traffic that you can follow. Just make sure you wear sunscreen and bring a big thermos with cold water with you as there are no trees to offer you shade and no shops.

One of my favorite cycling routes in Albufera leads to Montañeta de Los Santos, near Sueca. This is a curious little mountain in the middle of the rice fields with unparalleled panoramic views and a hermitage at the top.

The ride here is not the easiest, as you’ll have to pedal some 32 km or approximately 2 hours each way from the center of Valencia. If you want to catch the sunset here, you have the option to take your bike aboard the cercanías train line C-1 to Sueca. Biking between the train station in Sueca and Montañeta de Los Santos only takes 15 minutes.

3. The tiger nut fields of Alboraya

The tiger nut ( chufa in Spanish) fields of Alboraya offer another easy cycling route if you want to explore Valencia’s surroundings. These fields are situated just north of the city, have a flat terrain and seamless bike lanes, which makes them super accessible.

Chufa is the main ingredient used to make Valencia’s most popular drink, the horchata (see what is horchata ).

Horchata is usually enjoyed during the hot summer months. Similarly, the chufa fields of Alboraya, are at their greenest during June and July, which is when I recommend this biking route the most.

The best time to bike through Alboraya’s chufa fields is at sunset. To get there, first pedal your way to the Benimaclet neighborhood. From there, follow the bike lanes to Alboraya.

Once in Alboraya, you can stop to enjoy a glass of horchata in one of the many horchaterías in town or follow any of the paved or dirt roads through the chufa fields. While these roads don’t have dedicated bike lanes, they are usually very low-traffic.

If you want to have a glass of ice-cold horchata with a view of the chufa fields, continue to Horchatería Vida – they serve some of the best horchata in Valencia . There’s a bike lane right up to their doorstep and it’s one of the top places I recommend visiting if you’re in Valencia with kids .

Two other cool spots in the middle of the chufa fields are Alquería El Machistre and Espai Sequer Lo Blanch.

Alquería El Machistre is a small museum dedicated to horchata and tiger nuts. They are open from September through June. To visit, you must book in advance.

Espai Sequer Lo Blanch is a nice family restaurant with a large outdoor terrace with views of the fields. They also have very good horchata and their homemade brownies are to die for. On summer weekends, they usually have DJ music playing. You can also get here from Playa de Patacona.

Biking in Valencia is a great way of exploring the city. While the standard traffic rules also apply to bikes, such as stopping at traffic lights, obeying traffic signs, and yielding the right of way when required, here are a few other things you should know when cycling in Valencia!

• Most cycling paths in Valencia are two-way . If cycling in a group, ride single-file and always keep right.
• Riding a bike on sidewalks is prohibited unless there is a marked bike lane painted on the pavement. If you need to be on the sidewalk for any reason, make sure to get off your bike and walk alongside it.
• The maximum speed permitted on cycling paths is 20 km/h. On bike lanes marked on the sidewalks, the maximum speed allowed is 15 km/h. The majority of streets in Valencia have a speed limit of 30 km/h.
• Cycling paths in Valencia are relatively new. Many pedestrians didn’t grow up with them and may unconsciously default to familiar habits. Stay vigilant for pedestrians who might unexpectedly cross your (cycling) path without realizing it, to avoid any potential accidents.
• Cyclists must respect all signs and traffic lights . You must give pedestrians priority at pedestrian crossings.
• The use of mobile phones, earphones, and headphones while riding a bike is totally prohibited.
• When parking your bike on the street , you should preferably use the metal bike racks available. There are thousands of such bike racks all over Valencia. If there is no bike rack nearby, you may also fasten your bike to urban furniture. Tying your bike to trees is not permitted.
• Cycling on bus lanes marked as “EMT” is strictly prohibited as these are reserved solely for buses. However, you can bike on lanes marked as “TAXI-EMT-BICI”, preferably on the red-painted section of these lanes.
• Lane changes must be signaled with the arms.
• Wearing a helmet is highly recommended, although it’s not compulsory in the city, except for children under 16 years of age.
• ​Where there’s no bike lane parallel to a pedestrian crossing, you must get off your bike and cross on foot.
• When you travel accompanied by a child under the age of 6, it is essential to have an additional seat installed at the back of the bike.
• On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, you can take your bike on the metro and tram for free . On weekdays, you can only take your bike on overground sections of the MetroValencia network.
• Folded bikes are allowed on the EMT Valencia buses and the MetroValencia network every day of the week.
• You can also bring your bike on cercanías trains , provided you securely position it in the designated spaces allocated for bicycles.

This bike tour begins in Valencia, Spain’s third largest city. It’s the home of beautiful beaches, paella, the traditional golden rice dish from Spain, and Las Fallas, the local festival with amazing fireworks. With plenty bike friendly streets and green parks, it’s a great city to explore on two wheels.

Outside of the city, the Mediterranean climate and the soil Valencia has the perfect terrain to produce Spanish oranges. There is nothing better than riding through the foot of the mountains and smelling the orange blossoms all around you while riding. This tour offers you a chance to reach the coast, visit small villages, and enjoy the calmness of nature surrounding you.

The route can be done by electric bike or a traditional touring bike. In Canet d’En Berenguer the Mediterranean Sea will be your skyline. Then, through trails, paths, and the famous greenway Ojos Negros, you ride through emblematic sites and charming villages in the interior of the Valencian Community.

It’s an easy tour for the regular cyclist that combines half of the tour on quiet secondary roads, and the other half on nice, clean, bike lanes. Stages are an average of 40km on flat terrain, without large climbs.

Day 1: Segorbe Accommodation: Hotel Martín el Humano

Arrival day The day begins with a pick up from your hotel, either booked on your own or we can offer an extra night in the tour. We will transfer you to Bétera to start the bike ride that will take us through Olocau to the Palancia river valley and Segorbe. The route will be along quiet mountian roads with green shrubbery. In Segorbe, we will give you time to visit the rich historical center, as it is the capital of the valley. The valley was created by the Palancia River which was the main means of trasportation between the plateau and the sea since prehistoric times. The valley creates a fertile soil granting the perfect place for fruits and other crops.

Day 2: Segorbe Route: 45 km / 280m+ Accommodation: Hotel Martín el Humano

On day 2 you’ll take a loop around the Segorbe area and return to the same hotel, or according to availability we can put you up in a rural hotel very close to Segorbe ( http://turismo.segorbe.es/historia/ ). The bike route begins on the Ojos Negros bike path. This is the longest bike path in Spain, and you’ll get to see the best section of it arriving in Jérica. Jérica still contains it’s Arab-style architecture, although it has been occupied by all civilizations since ancient history. It is definitely worth a visit. Aftwerwards, you continue on to the town of Viver where you can visit the local farm and learn more about the organic products they offer: Wine, oil, beans and nuts. Moving on, you’ll begin the descent of the valley through Novaliches, see the Regalejo reservoir and arrive at Navajas, a small town that stands out for the “waterfall of the bride”, a 60-meter natural waterfall. The town surprisingly is known for having some stately homes, as it was the residence of wealthy Valencian families, for having a favorable climate and good water.

Day 3: Val d’Uxo Route: 35 km / 271m+ Accommodation: Hotel Belcaire

Today you’ll cross the Espadán mountain range to Val d’Uixo to visit the San Juan caves, which are the longest navigable caves in Europe ( http://www.covesdesantjosep.es ). The route is not difficult and goes through a mountainous valley and a quiet road. Apart from the caves, Val d’Uixo has several monuments and a contemporary town feel.

Day 4: Puerto de Sagunto Route: 26 km / 30m+ Accommodation: Hotel Baru

Today we reach the coast at Xilxes and the beach. You will ride along through orange groves and will stop to see a porcelain factory, the leading industry in Castellón. On the beach you can walk along the shore towards the south to find quiet beaches and orange groves. You will have plenty of time to enjoy the sea and the hotel pool, near Berenguer.

Day 5: Valencia (Alboraya) Route: 36 km / 50m+ Accommodation: Hotel La Mozaira  

Today you start the day by heading towards the Port of Cante, to go up the Palancia river a bit and reach Sagunto. You can visit the historic center of this influencial fortress. Then, you will go through bike paths and rural roads with orange trees and rice fields. At the end you will arrive at the horchata museum and the hotel, a beautiful farmhouse that preserves the rural charm and comfort of a 4-star hotel.

Day 6: Departure 

On departure day you can leave your bikes at the hotel and take a taxi to Valencia city center (15 min) or to the airport (20 min). We can help you continue your journey. My negative comments are the information flow and guidence, especially in the beginning, how to check in to the tour, the reception and so forth. We had expected ore formally start and some advice according to this special route. It was a need for this in relation to utility of battery function and consuming of power. We had some problems in the Tramuntana, near Sierra de Tramuntana, ran out of electricity and a little help to get from the organizer. Valencia Mediterranean in 3 stages

Amazing short break first time on ebikes, and a little apprehensive as it was a holiday for my teenage son and myself- but it was FABULOUS. Three days of mainly off road biking, first day mountains, second day forest and last day beach and nature reserve with waterfalls , caves and orange groves plus so much more. The bikes made the trip so enjoyable , you still get the exercise but are able to visit places normally out of the reach for two wheelers. Very well organised tour. The route notes were extremely detailed and helpful as the route was quite complicated some days - presumably to avoid busy roads. However the country wasn’t good for enjoyable cycling, being treeless and agricultural, and apart from the White Villages I really only enjoyed the scenery on the third day from Montellano to Arcos when the route went through the hills and along the river on a good Via Verde. On the last day getting out of Jerez took an hour then soon after it was semi-industrial wasteland. The Via Verde between Seville and Carmona was in terrible condition with deep ruts and sand. I was also unlucky to get a flat- the seal at the tube valve failed- and I had terrible trouble changing the tube- the plastics levers not strong enough and the pump nozzle completely stuck. I left a note to the bike hire.

This was a tour averaging about 40k per day with few hills so there was lots of time for sightseeing and relaxing. We spent most of our time in small towns with few tourists which meant that food and wine was generally excellent value. The riding was pleasant on mostly quiet roads with few traffic issues.

Cycling the Camino de Santiago - Roncesvalles to Santiago

We have just completed cycling the Camino de Santiago (Roncesvalles to Santiago) with "ExperiencePlus!" bike tours. It was truly memorable experience. Our guides brought a myriad of talents, language skills and good humour to our trip. The "plus" was, in large part, the cultural component. Thanks to the knowledge of our guides and their eagerness to share their love of the Camino, we gained an appreciation of the history of the route and the pilgrims (past and present) who have made the journey. On a practical note, the accommodation was the best available - keeping in mind that this is a 'pilgrim's route. This comment is not meant as a negative . All of the accommodation provided a welcome respite after a long day of cycling. The food and wine (chosen by our guides) were wonderful and a provided delightful introduction to the cuisine of northern Spain. On a more practical note, the bicycles and van support (including water and snacks en route) were excellent. The guides went "above and beyond" to ensure that we had no difficulty in moving forward! The "chalk arrows" were an added bonus - all we had to do was concentrate on cycling and the breathtaking scenery. This was our sixth trip with ExperiencePlus!. We are looking forward to our seventh.

Turia River's Green Flow: Urban Nature at Its Finest

“If I was to visit Valencia by bike I would for sure start by the Turia River Park, it's our Central Park”, suggests Nuria Montes.

The Turia River's Green Flow is a remarkable urban park born from the repurposed riverbed. With over 10 kilometres of dedicated bike lanes , this verdant oasis winds through the heart of the city, connecting parks, gardens, and recreational spaces.

Following the Turia River, you’ll reach the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, a modern science and cultural complex with breathtaking architecture . Its white futuristic buildings have become icons of the city.

Take a stroll through Valencia’s historic centre

Starting from the modernist North Station, one can stroll through one of the largest historical centres in Europe, crossing squares and pedestrianised streets full of monuments like Plaza de la Reina, la Catedral and la Plaza Redonda.

Don’t miss out on La Lonja de la Seda, or The Silk Exchange, a masterpiece of late Gothic architecture that was originally used for silk trading . Also recommended is the Central Market, the biggest fresh produce market in Europe.

La Albufera: The perfect blend of nature and tradition

Cycling through L’Albufera lets you take in the three natural pantries of Valencia: rice fields, fresh fish, and vegetables and fruits from the orchard that surrounds the city.
