New for 2025

We're one of the longest running uk school ski travel companies, so we know exactly what your group needs.

Ski Gower was established in the late 1950's by Kilby Edwards, and the model that he established then is still in successful operation now.  With his own group of school students, Kilby saw the rapid progress they made in their skiing ability, in comparison to that of the students being taught by the local ski school.  This was wholly due to there being no language barrier and by his team providing all day instruction to the students.

Our team of British ski instructors is dedicated to your school group and provides all day instruction, which normally equates to well over 30 hours of instruction in one week.

The personal experience in dealing with Ski Gower has not changed either; we aim to keep our planning and preparation simple and efficient and support our Customers as much as possible in the run up to their tour.

What our Ski Gower Customers say

"Thanks for organising such great school ski trips. The staff and children had a truly memorable trip to Switzerland. Please pass on my thanks to the ski instructors, they built a great rapport and the children all learnt a great deal. Confidence in all the kids was brimming by the end of the week."

Personalize your experience

Contact us for any request and to customize your experience.

Please include preferred destination/s, expected passenger numbers and rough dates.

By completing this form you consent to the privacy policy.

Are you interested in this Tour?

General faqs, it’s my first time organising a trip, what should i do.

Please pick up the phone and give us a call. We have years of experience organising trips abroad and we’ll be happy to run you through the do’s and don'ts of organising a trip away. If you want further professional assistance, then we can put you in touch with a Snowsport England qualified instructor, you can also attend a SCO (Snowsport Course Organiser) day.

Can I see the resort before I book?

Yes, we can help you organise an inspection trip or there might be places available on our set inspection trips – see our Inspection Trips webpage for further information.

What is your free adult place ratio? What happens if I need to bring more adults?

The basic ratio is 1:10 for flight tours and 1:8 for coach trips. However, if your group requires a different ratio, we will work with you to ensure that you get what you need. This may include extra free places of calculating a separate tour price for any paying passengers.

What happens if people want to add on or drop out?

Pupils will drop in and out of the trip. It happens. For those groups travelling by coach, we won’t ask for pupil details until very close to departure so pupils can swap in and out and the financial element of this can be organised internally. For those travelling by air, low cost airlines ask for names on booking so any change of passenger is likely to require a name-change fee which we would add to the final balance.

If pupils continue to add on, then this is fine subject to availability with the hotel and transport companies. The flight price may be higher if pupils add on months after the original booking and we will tell you what the cost is before you commit.

If pupils drop out, then unfortunately some fixed costs such as coach hire or instructors will be spread over a lower number and so your price may have to increase. However, this will never happen without a full discussion and we will work with you to limit any impact

How long before the trip should I start planning?

There’s no right answer to this although we would recommend first time trip organisers look 12-18 months ahead whilst experienced trip organisers may want 9 months plus if heading to a new resort. We do want all trips to be as accessible as possible and whilst financial climates ebb and flo, giving students and parents a long lead in time will help them plan ahead and will stop you having to chase payments.

What about insurance?

Every group must travel with comprehensive travel insurance including any winter sports or competitive sports cover. Your school or club may already have a policy in place which covers your trip otherwise please talk to a member of the Energy Travel team for further information.

Can you provide copies of audits and risk assessments?

Yes, please contact us directly for further information on specific requests

Is our money safe when we book with Energy Travel?

Energy Travel is ABTA bonded and holds an ATOL license. We also have comprehensive liability insurance cover – visit our Financial Safety web page to learn more.

Does everyone need 6 months remaining on their passports?

As standard, we recommend that everyone travelling has a passport with at least 6 months validity remaining. UK nationals can contact the Foreign, Commonwealth & Diversity office to find out more.

What is the 'Names on headed paper' and what’s it for?

We will ask all groups to complete a passenger manifest providing key details of your groups so we can pass this information on to suppliers and ensure a smooth and organised trip away.

We also ask for a list of all members of the group to be provided on school headed paper. this should detail all members of the group as well as having dates of birth for anyone under 18. It should detail the dates of the trip at the top as well as the name of the hotel you are staying at and it should be signed by the Head Teacher or equivalent authority.

The names list is used as proof of authenticity of the groups and different suppliers such as the hotel or lift pass office require it so that they can charge the correct amounts.

When do we find out about rooming allocations?

We know rooming allocations are key to pupils heading away. We request them about 4 weeks before departure, but confirmation of rooming may not come until right before you leave, especially if you are travelling in one of the busier times of year. If you have specific rooming requirements, then let us know.

Is there a 24-hour emergency contact whilst on tour?

Yes, you will have access to a 24-hour number from the moment you depart. You’ll also be provided with the details of a local contact.

Can après ski be pre-booked?

Absolutely. Let us know what you want to do, and we can include après ski activities or excursions within your package price. Alternatively, we can add them on later down the line.

Frequently Asked Questions

We hope that the following information will help answer any questions you have. If you don't find what you're looking for please download our FAQs.pdf "(click here)" , or contact us by phone, or get in touch via the 'get in touch' link above.

Downloadable Documents

You will have access to our extensive downloadable teacher portal once you have a booking confirmed, or immediately prior subject to a confirmed assembly date. These are copyright of 321ski and are only to be legally used for your ski trips with 321ski.

They are particularly useful for new teachers, or schools embarking on their first ski trip for a while, but all teachers find they save hours of time (recently we've been it'll save you up to 9 hours).

Accommodation

Beds are singles and bunks will be used in most multi-bedded rooms.

Damages must be settled in full by the individual, party leader or school prior to departure, and with the hotel direct. Under no circumstances will 321ski provide funds or accept responsibility. Should there be no obvious culpit the school as a whole will be deemed to be responsible.

Food bought elsewhere from the hotel cannot be subsequently eaten within your booked hotel. As the majority of our school ski trips are fullboard there really should be no need to spend extra money to eat!

Fire Drill may take place in the first few days of your stay. As a matter of course we ask all Party Leaders to check the fire escape routes and routine with their school party.

Towels and soap are provided in hotels and apartments although 321ski recommend that school parties take their own. Linen is changed once a week, generally, and rubbish is thrown out daily.

Single rooms for teachers are strictly limited and are subject to availability. As with all school ski trips, accommodation is normally in multibedded rooms and separated by gender and student/staff. 321ski always tries to secure single and twin rooms for teachers but this cannot be guaranteed and should not be relied upon. Often there may be a supplement payable should a single become available.

Brochure and Quote Accuracy

321ski reserves the right to change any details of a potential booking up until the actual booking made. Please ensure you are happy and revise all details at the point of booking.

Coaches used by 321ski are designed for long distance continental travel. WCs on board these coaches are, however, designed for emergencies only. Please use the refreshment stops provided.

Coach departures may be early in the morning or mostly during the last working day of school term time. This is due to ferry crossing times which are released in early Autumn for the following ski season.

Facilities as advertised

Every effort is made to ensure the resort and accommodation is as advertised when gone to print. However, owners of advertised hotels and other suppliers of facilities may decide to make repairs or overhaul certain areas of their premises without our knowledge, and with little if any notice. This may affect your experience. If 321ski hear of such developments and we believe it may significantly affect your enjoyment we will do our best to advise you.

321ski offers a great insurance package underwritten by Endsleigh. This is available, often as a supplement, as part of our packages. However it may be a good idea to check your own school insurance.

What's NOT included!

Please be familiar with what is not included on our ski trips. Our SkiEssentials package covers all that which is required, but there are certain aspects that are extra that some schools opt for, but most don't. The Get-a-Quote page has all details.

Our meals are produced locally and reflect local culture. This means that continental breakfasts will be served, often with limited options for some dietary concerns. 321ski regret that strict Kosher, Muslim or Vegan diets can not be catered for in the purest form, but an alternative will be offered. It is important to advise 321ski of any special dietary concerns and needs from the outset.

Official documents

It is the individual's responsibility to ensure their Passport, EHIC, Visa (if required) and any other official document are current and worthy of the school ski trip. 321ski will not accept any responsibility or liability if you are refused access or entry to any transport or country.

As trip leader you are responsible for the finances of the trip to be paid by the required deadlines. Following on our own experiences with school finance 321ski only accepts payment by BACS or cheque.

Ski lessons - pupils and teachers

Generally we provide lessons for pupils up to a 1:12 ratio - in line with professional associations - and often lower. We do not include teachers within these lessons as our experience have shown that often colleagues 'float' between groups.

It is essential that airline tickets reflect EXACTLY the passport name of the individual. You will be responsible for all costs incurred in name changes or amendments. For some airlines these costs can be substantial so it is vital to get it right on the booking form.

All prices include VAT as per the HMRC Tour Operators Margin Scheme. This VAT is non-reclaimable by any school and all invoices issued are therefore not VAT Invoices.

Financial Protection

All trips are covered by 321ski ATOL 10431 (if Air) or bonding via IPP (if coach).

School Travel Forum/Learning Outside of the Classroom Badge holders

321ski are full members of the School Travel Forum , and hold the Learning Outside of the Classroom Badge. This means that we are audited for Safety Management Systems and we are committed to deliver as per "what's on the tin".

Ski Passes and What's Required

Many ski passes now require passport photos and/or 5Euro deposits, particularly for the new magnetic type passes. We recommend all skiiers take both with them as regulations do sometimes change without notice.

Multi-Occupancy Rooms

Accommodation used on school trips are typically simple but comfortable. To ensure we offer the best price to your school we accommodate pupils in 2,3,4,5 or 6 bedded rooms. Accompanying adults should expect to share.

Lifts and snow resources

Ski lifts and other snow resources are operated by third parties and as such no responsibility can be taken by 321ski for any withdrawal of services.

Our reps are dedicated to you, so will stay, ski and sleep in the same hotel. Ordinarily they are serving teachers or school expeditoin leaders, and understand they will work hard for you. We do not employ younger, gap year students and we attract the highest calibre of candidate by offering the highest paid packages in the industry. Most schools find them particularly useful with après-ski entertainment . Most trip leaders feedback that we have the best, hardest working reps in the business.

Top Tips for Teachers

We provide a "Trip Leaders for school ski trips" date breakdown sheet and "Top Ten Tips for School Ski Trip Leaders" to help you. We hope you find them useful!

Gstaad is a paradise for winter activities. 61 cable cars open up 250 kms of slopes, sledge runs, snowparks and winter walks till 3000 meters.

Thanks to the glacier ski area and slopes with artificial snow, Gstaad is able to offer winter sports from the end of October to the beginning of May.

Why Gstaad is still Switzerland’s best ski resort

Early-bird skiers begin hitting the slopes at the end of October and the season lasts until the beginning of May. The ski areas  are connected by 61 cable cars, providing access to 250km pistes and cross-country trails, sledge runs, snow parks and winter hiking. The famous Glacier 3,000 is easily accessible and extends the ski season into mid-summer.

Dotted with snow-capped mountains, charming weathered-wood chalets and an unsurprising smattering of fir trees, Gstaad is the epitome of alpine chic. Nestled between Geneva and Zürich, the white powder landscape of Gstaad is famed for its luxurious lifestyle. Gstaad's hypnotic setting has attracted some of the world's most famous faces, from Madonna and Grace Kelly to Julie Andrews and Jacqueline Kennedy.

The Glacier - Environmentally Challenged

From October until May, optimal ski conditions are found here at the winter sports location of Les Diablerets. The slopes in the high alpine landscape are some of the most spectacular in the Switzerland. Some of the highlights in the Glacier 3000 ski resort are the 7 km long Olden slope and the snowpark. The winter sports area of Les Diablerets also offers many additional winter activities as well as a breathtaking panorama at 3000 meters.

The ingredients for this unique peak experience are quite simple: a nice wide path, surrounded by boulders and snow, lots of fresh air – and a stunning view. The walk is a beautiful hike from the Scex Rouge mountain station that leads up to the 3’016m Dôme. It is quite possible that you will hold your breath for a moment, when you get to the top: because when you get to the so-called man of stone, the view onto the glacier, the valleys far below and the Diablerets peak is simply breath-taking. This view is worth every effort! That is why hikers returning from the Dôme are so relaxed – because once on top, they completely forget their worries.

You would be accompanied by your instructors on the walk and when you stop for lunch there will be a discussion on the impact of climate change you will be able to see first hand how this has affected the environment around you.

Peak to Peak

There is only one suspension bridge in the world that connects two mountain peaks and it can be found at Glacier 3000. This 107 metre long bridge links together the small peak (View Point) and the 5 metre higher main peak (Scex Rouge) and offers stunning views onto the Alps: Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau which are visible from the bridge.

Why Do Schools Go On Ski Trips?

british school ski trip

Be the first to hear about our latest offers and inspection visits!

School ski trips have become a rite of passage for many British schoolkids, but at a time when the cost of living is putting added pressures on families’ and schools’ budgets, is it time to ditch the annual school ski trip?

The answer is a resounding no. We’ve already talked about the many incredible benefits for the students  themselves, but there are also some fantastic benefits for schools in running school ski trips.

Here are just a few compelling reasons why your school should run a school ski trip:

It can help the school to attract the best teachers and students

Offering a regular school ski trip can set a school apart from its local competition when it comes to attracting students or teachers.

For many students, the opportunity to go on a school ski trip may be the only chance they will have to go skiing during their childhood. That’s because, although school ski trips are by no means cheap, they are significantly less expensive than taking the whole family.

For those students, that school ski trip could really be life-changing, as well as being a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It could introduce them to a new passion or hobby that they enjoy for the rest of their lives. Or it could spark an interest in travel and exploring new cultures.

For more advanced skiers, this is an exciting opportunity to share their passion with their friends.

For teachers, the opportunity to lead or accompany a school ski trip is a great opportunity for their career progression and personal development. It’s also a fun perk of the job and a great opportunity to escape the classroom with their students!

It shows that the school takes the good health and mental wellbeing of their students seriously

However, this May, all three graduated from College. Ravi has a job in management training position with Enterprise in Richland, WA. Alisha is now working as a nurse in Pueblo, CO and Ty is working on getting his Master's degree in Psychology so he can be a school counselor. My daughter and her husband have been transferred to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO after 8 war zone deployments in his career. He is now a Master Sgt. Our oldest son, Frank, received his Masters degree a year ago and was transferred to the Bellevue Group Health office as a Clinical Systems Consultant.

Chuck and I are in the process of cleaning out the "nest" witch will be sold within the year. We will downsize to an apt. in Moscow but will keep the ski house as well. It has (so far) been a year of new beginnings and, to celebrate, we plan to take a cruise to AK next month just to see how retirees should live. Life is good.

It is our hop that the birds will fly on their own now and we can reinvent ourselves with newfound freedoms. And, from the look of it, we could keep busy just visiting kids, as spread out as they are. BUT, for their sakes, I hope we find other outlets for what energy we have left.

Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion next summer.

I am living in Moscow, Idaho - married to Charles Hatch who is currently vice-president of research at the University.  We have four children, including a son who is stationed in Germany with the Air Force and a daughter who is married to a sgt. in the Army and also stationed in Germany.  I see a trip to Europe in my future this year!

I worked for the University until Chuck and I were married in l983.  We lived in India and Pakistan for 9 years, returning to the states for the last time in l994 - where, I might add, I intend to stay. :)  I am a homemaker and enjoying the newfound freedom of kids who are on their own or in College.  Life has been an adventure but, now that the kids are more independent, we hope for retirement in a couple years and a chance to travel for fun.

I look forward to seeing you all again this summer.
