12. Jal Mahal

Located 4 kilometer away from Jaipur, Jal Mahal is one of the most popular landmarks of the city. It was built in 1750 by Maharaja Madho Singh as a lodge and hunting retreat. The symmetrical five-story structure of the palace is set in the middle of an artificial lake known as Man Sagar Lake.

The mesmerizing view of the beautiful palace against the backdrop of Aravalli hills and its reflection in the serene lake waters lures thousands of tourists from across the world. Jal Mahal is also recognized as the most photographed structure of India.

Though entry into the palace is reserved, you can explore its beauty while enjoying a boat ride in the lake. You can also spend a rejuvenating evening watching local and migratory birds at the lake. Jal Mahal is a splendid monument located on the main Amer-Jaipur road and can be visited on your way to the Amber Fort.

13. Sisodia Rani ka Bagh

Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh in 1728, Sisodia Rani ka Bagh is a garden dedicated to his beloved second wife, the Princess of Sisodia Rajput clan of Udaipur. Located around 10 kilometers away from Jaipur the lush gardens offer a rejuvenating respite from the bustle of the city.

The garden showcases elements of Indo-Mughal architecture such as water channels amidst beautiful flower beds and walking tracks across the parks. Fountains and natural springs add a splash of royalty to the garden and a shrine dedicated to Hindu deities’ augment spirituality to its ambiance. The walls of the garden are painted with several scenes from the story of Lord Krishna and Radha. You can spend a day amidst nature and rejuvenate in the tranquil setting of the park.

14. Vidyadhar Garden

Dedicated to the chief architect of Jaipur, Vidyadhar Garden was built in 1988. Vidyadhar Bhattacharya was a treasured architect in Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh’s court. He was adept with the principles of Hindu architecture known as ‘Shilpa Shastra’.

Vidyadhar Garden is situated around 8 kilometers away from Jaipur on the Jaipur-Agra highway, away from the cacophony of the city, and is taken care of by the Rajasthan Government. The garden has a blend of classical Indian and Mughal architecture with glimpses of Hindu mythology depicted through murals on pavilion walls.

The lush gardens have beautiful flower beds, terraced lawns, and fountains influenced by Mughal designs, are a perfect picnic spot. You can spend time in the garden watching peacocks and other migratory birds while relaxing in the lap of nature. You can also enjoy elaborate Rajasthani meals or grab quick bites at the modern restaurant inside the complex.

15. Albert Hall Museum

Jaipur’s historical journey and rich heritage can be best explored through its museums. Albert Hall Museum is among the most prominent museums in the city and is renowned for its well-blended architecture. It was built in 1876 as a concert hall and its design had a stark resemblance to the Victoria and Albert Museum of London.

The foundation was laid in 1876 by the Prince of Wales during his Jaipur visit and was converted into a museum by the King of Jaipur, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II in 1881. The charming Indo-Saracenic dome structure with intricately engraved arches is built in red sandstone.

You can explore the culture of Rajasthan through the 16 galleries of this museum. Paintings, portraits, carpets, musical instruments, jewelry, ammunition, woodwork, brassware, antique coins, local pottery, handicrafts, and sculptures are on display at the museum. Other attractions worth exploring at the complex are an aviary, a greenhouse, and a zoo.

16. Galtaji Temple

Galtaji Temple is a revered Hindu pilgrimage built by Diwan Rao Kriparam in the 18th century and was dedicated to Saint Galav. Constructed around 10 kilometers away from the city amidst the Aravalli hills in a mystical setup, the temple draws in travelers of all types.

There are several shrines of Hindu gods Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, and Lord Hanuman around the Galtaji Temple. Holy kunds, pavilions, and natural springs add charm to the majestic temple built in pink sandstone and designed as a palace.

Natural freshwater springs from the Aravalli hills supply water to seven holy 'kunds' or water tanks in the temple complex. The 'Galta Kund' is believed to be filled with water throughout the year and considered the holiest of all kunds. Pilgrims take a dip in the reverent water that flows from the 'Gaumukh', a rock shaped like a cow's head, and fills the tanks. The grandeur of the temple in the beautiful natural setting makes it a picture-perfect spot.

17. Swargsuli Tower

Swargsuli Tower or SargaSuli is the tallest tower of Jaipur, built in 1749 to commemorate the victory of Maharaja Sawai Ishwari Singh at the Battle of Rajmahal. Located at the Aatish market, the 140 feet tower was designed by the royal craftsman Ganesh Khowan drawing in elements from Delhi’s Qutub Minar and Chittorgarh’s Kirti Stambh.

The tower had a contrasting yellow color which made it stand out against the pink color across the city. The seven-storeyed minaret offers breathtaking panoramic views of Jaipur. You can climb up to the top floor through a flight of 264 steps and enjoy the enthralling view of Jaipur city.

18. Jawahar Kala Kendra

Jawahar Kala Kendra is an arts and crafts center built in the heart of Jaipur. Construction work was initiated in 1986 as per the layout designed by Charles Correa based on the Indian architectural concepts of Vaastu and Shilpa Shastra. Upon completion in 1991 the center was launched by the state government and dedicated to the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Jawahar Kala Kendra preserves Rajasthani culture, traditions, and spiritual values. The red sandstone structure is dedicated to the late prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. You can visit the library, theatre, galleries, and auditoriums to explore the rich heritage of India.

19. Sheesh Mahal

Sheesh Mahal is located in the Amber Fort complex. It is popularly known as “The Palace of Mirrors” and has been alluring scores of tourists from across the world. Built by Maharaja Man Singh in 1727, the opulent palace has an intricate setting of precious stone and mirror work on its walls and ceilings.

The mirror arrangement is peculiar as it reflects a single ray of light to brighten up the entire room. You can witness the exquisite mirror work and marvel at the expertise of designers and architects in those times.

20. Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing

Dedicated to the traditional Rajasthani art of hand-block printing, Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing is a unique museum just a kilometer away from Amber Fort. It was started to preserve the age-old tradition of carving designs on wooden blocks and printing them on fabrics.

The charitable foundation operates from a 400-year-old two-story haveli known as Chanwar Palki Walon ki Haveli, which has been restored to perpetuate the craft of hand printing using natural dyes. The project has been awarded for ‘Cultural Heritage Conservation’ by UNESCO in 2000.

You can have a holistic experience of the old tradition and see the tools and techniques used to create the blocks and fabrics with contemporary designs. Block carving and hand printing workshops are also conducted by the management upon special request. You can buy handcrafted ‘Anokhi’ merchandise such as textiles, home furnishings, jewelry, and cards at the museum souvenir shop.

Elefun is an elephant sanctuary dedicated to preserving the species. Started in 2013, the place is run by a family of mahouts (elephant caretakers). The establishment offers natural living conditions to elephants and interesting animal interaction experiences to the visitors.

Some of the elephants at the sanctuary have been rescued from circuses and zoos to provide them with loving and natural living conditions. You can enjoy fun activities such as learning to talk to Elephants, walking with them, feeding, and bathing them. You can also decorate an elephant using natural colors and traditional patterns. Elefun is a great place to visit with family and kids.

22. Khole Ke Hanuman Ji Temple

Constructed by Pandit Radhe Lal Choubey in 1960, Khole Ke Hanuman Ji Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Located atop a hillock on the Delhi bypass in Jaipur at Lakshman Dungri, the temple offers panoramic views of the tranquil and green surroundings.

Khole Ke Hanuman Ji temple was built after Pt. Choubey spotted a rock with a carving of Lord Hanuman and started offering prayers at the spot. He built a small temple at the spot which was later expanded to its current size gradually. The shrine is highly revered by the locals and is flocked by devotees on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Dal-Bati Churma and Swamani Prashads are the traditional offerings that are prepared using raw ingredients donated by the devotees.

23. Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum

In 1959 Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II converted a part of the City Palace constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II into a museum known as the City Palace Museum. Later, several other sections of the palace were added to the museum, and it came to be known as Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum.

It has five gallery sections- Textile gallery, Sarvatobhadra, Sabha Niwas, Sileh Khana, and the Painting & Photography gallery. Royal costumes, artifacts, and furnishings from the last three centuries are on display at the Museum. A walk through the galleries of the museum will satiate your curiosity about the regal life of the rulers of Jaipur and the rich heritage of Rajputana.

The exhibits also include traditional paintings and portraits of the royal family. The arms and armor collection of the warrior clan includes arrows, axes, shields, spears, daggers, and guns. You can buy souvenirs at the museum shop called the Palace Atelier and taste royal delicacies at the Baradari restaurant at the City Palace Complex.

24. Johari Bazaar

Jaipur is the business hub of Rajasthan, famous for its handicrafts and indigenous products. Johari Bazaar is the oldest and most colorful market in Jaipur, located near Hawa Mahal. It is a shopper’s paradise offering vibrant handmade products, scrumptious local food, and premium quality Kundan jewelry.

You can buy authentic Jaipuri jewelry made in gold, silver studded with diamonds, emeralds, and rubies. The narrow lanes of the market are loaded with colorful traditional apparel, embroidered juttis, and opalescent lehengas.

The small stalls sell everything including famous Jaipuri textiles, traditional blue pottery, cotton quilts, and home décor products. Make sure to bargain well as prices are often swelled up for tourists.

25. Bapu Bazaar

Bapu Bazaar is located between the Sanganer Gate and the New Gate of Jaipur. It is one of the most famous markets in Pink city and the best place to buy anything Rajasthani. The exuberant market attracts shoppers from all over the world.

You can buy authentic mojari footwear made of camel hide, lac bangles, bandhani dupattas, leheriya sarees, potli bags, colorful puppets, ethnic jewelry, fine cotton quilts, and handwoven textiles at reasonable prices. You can also pick up beautiful showpieces, artifacts, baubles, pen stands, keychains with mirror work as souvenirs and gifts for your loved ones.

Don’t forget to binge on local snacks and authentic dishes such as chat, samosas, dal-baati-churma, masala tea, and pyaaz kachori. Falooda kulfi is a must-have specialty at Bapu bazaar, it is yummy and keeps you cool as you shop.

As magical as Jaipur may seem when you’re ogling the pink palace, there are also parts of Jaipur that are far from picturesque. Choosing where to stay on your Jaipur trip is very important!

Bani Park is the best place to stay in Jaipur. It’s a tranquil and safe residential area that is within easy proximity to the sights on your Jaipur itinerary! It’s close to the train station and rickshaw drivers are always close by to get you around Jaipur.

There are numerous accommodation options ranging from budget to all-out luxury! Bani Park is actually the center of the haveli accommodation industry. Havelis are traditional Indian mansions that are built around a courtyard and you’ll find plenty of these charming hotels in Bani Park!

C Scheme is another good option to base your itinerary for Jaipur. It has fewer accommodation options than Bani Park but it is within walking distance of the major Jaipur attractions, such as the City Palace.

If you prefer to be right in the heart of things while on your Jaipur visit, consider Mirza Ismail Road (also known as MI Road). This colossal road cuts through the entire city, meaning it has ideal access to transport! The area has various accommodation options to suit all budgets and is ideal for those interested in shopping and local cuisine.

Best Luxury Hotel in Jaipur – Taj Rambagh Palace

With endless landscaped gardens, four-poster beds and on-call butlers, you could be forgiven for thinking you’re royalty at the Taj Rambagh Palace! After all, the hotel is a palace that was once the home of the Maharajah of Jaipur! The staff at this 5-star hotel is both discrete and efficient, and everything from cocktails to afternoon tea is on offer!

Day 1 of our Jaipur Itinerary takes in the historical pink city. Prepare to be amazed by the ancient palaces and swept up Jaipur’s manic energy. Wear comfortable shoes and light, loose clothing as there will be a bit of walking involved. You can get between the various attractions by Tuk Tuk which can easily be hailed from the street -just remember to barter hard on the price!

10.00 am – Chandra Mahal

Although it’s technically a part of City Palace, Chandra Mahal has its own entrance fee and a famed reputation in its own right! It’s a seven-story building but only the ground floor can be visited by tourists.

The royal collection on display at the museum is just spectacular, with everything from priceless manuscripts to rare carpets on display! Although it’s a bit pricey, most visitors agree that it’s worth it.

• How long should I stay here?  1 hour
• Getting there –  Take a Tuk Tuk or cab

11:30 am- City Palace

Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur City Palace is a fusion of Mughal and Rajput architecture. The enormous complex took up one-seventh of old Jaipur so there’s plenty to see.

The Mubarak Mahal is one of the great highlights of the palace. It was constructed as a reception hall in the 19th century and today, it’s the palace museum. There are some truly envy-provoking clothes worn by the royal family on display!

In the Diwan-I-Khas, an audience chamber, you’ll find two silver vessels which hold the Guinness World Book of Records for the largest silver vessels in the world. They were used to carry water from the Ganges for Sawaii Madho Singh II who wanted to only drink the holy water while on tour in England!

If you can afford to splash out on just one thing, it should be a guided tour of the City Palace. The palace is just gigantic and has so many stories that only an insider can tell! If you don’t have a guide, try the audio guide which costs $3 USD.

• Getting there  –  It’s adjacent to Chandra Mahal so use those feet!

1.00 pm – Street Food

If you are backpacking India on a budget then you will probably be living on street food. Indian street food is world-famous and if it’s your first time in Jaipur you have to try it! The offerings are varied are ubiquitous, the flavors tantalizing and best of all it is super cheap! Pakora’s (fried balls of spicy stuff) can readily be picked up from $0.10. You can find street food pretty much anywhere and the streets around City Palace and Chandra Mahal have a few stalls or kiosks operating.

Some western stomachs can be a bit sensitive to spices and ghee and but you don’t have too much to worry about in terms of hygiene. Just pick somewhere that looks popular and eat only food that is hot and fresh.

2.00 pm – Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who was fascinated with the mysteries of the skies. It continues to be a working astronomical observatory that fascinates tourists on vacation in Jaipur!

Vrihat Samrat Yantra, the huge sundial, is the crown jewel of Jantar Mantar. At 27m, it’s the tallest sundial in the world.

Jaya Prakash Yantra is another stellar highlight of our Jaipur itinerary. When the inverted image of the sky falls on the marble slabs, casting a shadow, it’s possible to determine the positions of various stars and planets!

Other fascinating instruments include Digamsa and Karnti Vritya which measure times for sunrise and sunset, and the solar sign of the sun, respectively.

Make sure that you get here around midday when the sun is overhead. This means you’ll be able to see how readings are taken from the various instruments much more easily than at other times!

3.30 pm – Hawa Mahal

The next of our places to visit Jaipur in 3 days is Hawa Mahal, the gorgeous “Palace of the Wind” and one of the classic Jaipur landmarks. It was built as an extension to City Palace in 1799 to allow royal ladies to watch street parades without being seen by the wider public.

The architecture of Hawa Mahal is just sublime. Admiring the facade, which is shaped a bit like a honeycomb, you can take in all 953 windows!

Some say that the shape was inspired by Lord Krishna’s crown.  When the royal ladies would watch street activities, they’d have the windows slightly open to let in a breeze, giving rise to the name “Palace of the Wind”.

Hawa Mahal is also reputedly the world’s tallest building without a foundation. If you notice a slight curve in the structure, that was a mechanism to compensate for the lack of a foundation!

• How long should I stay here?  2 hours
• Getting there  –  It’s a 9 minute walk from the last stop. Ask for “Hawa Mahal”.

I do hope you saved some energy yesterday as Day 2 of our Jaipur Itinerary is equally as action-packed! Today we take in some colonial-era architectural gems, a few lovely museums, and finish with sunset up at the monkey temple; my personal favorite spot in Jaipur.

10:00 am – Albert Hall Museum

When the building first started on Albert Hall, no one had any idea of what purpose the structure would serve! Fortunately, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II approved an idea to create a museum in the space that would showcase the talents of local artists.

Albert Hall’s architecture is something of an attraction in itself. The Indian-Saracenic style incorporates features from various Indian architectural styles.

The museum walls are covered in murals depicting daily life in various other great empires, like Babylon and Egypt. This allowed citizens to compare their lives with others and develop their knowledge.

The 16 galleries inside the museum range from armor to miniature paintings. There are some fascinating coins that date back to before the 11th century! You’re also able to admire royal jewellery, intricate woodwork, and ivory statues.

• How long should I stay here?  60 – 90 minutes
• Getting there –  Take a Tuk Tuk or cab

11.30 am – Amrapali Museum

No, it’s not just another museum on the Jaipur itinerary; this is the Amrapali Museum and, trust us, it’s awesome! It has arguably the most state-of-the-art facilities to showcase hand-picked items from around India, and it’s just stunning.

Amrapali Museum was founded by two friends who went on an epic trip around India, sourcing unique items from various Indian tribes. The love and thought that went into this venture are so palpable in the museum that it’d be a shame to miss it when you travel to Jaipur!

The bulk of the museum’s collection is jewelry and expensive personal items. While you can easily give yourself free rein to explore the museum, there are a number of absolute must-see items on show!

One of the more unusual collections is that of  mukhnaals . These gilded objects were used by Indian kings as mouthpieces for hookahs. The eclectic designs range from fish to elephants!

Another insight into lavish royal life comes with the pair of  mojris  from around the 19th century. These shoes are made of solid gold and silver, encrusted with rubies and emeralds, and would have been worn for ceremonial occasions!

You may not be able to afford the real thing but upstairs there are some pretty good replicas for sale!

• Getting there  –  It’s a 5 – 10 minute ride by Tuk Tuk or cab

1.00 pm – Lunch at Old Green Tandoori

Today we’re having lunch at what is something of a Jaipur institution. Green Tandoori situated just opposite Chamelli market is a hub for foreigners re-fueling after browsing the markets and professional stone buyers. They do classic Indian dishes and amazing tandoori’s at bargain prices.

I recommend the Paneer Tikka Tandoori (cheese roasted in spices) chased down by a lassi – a typical Indian milk-based drink. Or, if you are very hungry take a Thali (mixed tray).

The Green Tandoori makes it very easy to access the next options in our itinerary.

• Getting there  –  It’s a 9-minute walk or you can grab a Tuk Tuk for about 50rps

2.00 pm – Bazaar shopping

From turbans to musical instruments, Jaipur’s bazaars have anything and everything you can imagine on sale! Even if you’re not buying, just taking the vibrant atmosphere in will be a highlight of your Jaipur itinerary!

There are different markets and bazaars scattered across Jaipur each one specializing in something different from textiles, to stones to metal to random bits of crap!

Sireh Deori Bazaar is probably the most famous place to shop while touring Jaipur. It’s just opposite the Hawa Mahal and has a variety of goods, ideal for window shoppers who want to get an idea of what’s on offer! You’ll also find the best camel leather products here.

For a bit of Maharaja bling, head to Johari Bazaar. It’s a bit like an Aladdin’s cave, with heaps of precious stones and glittering metals. Handmade necklaces and any jewelry set with precious stones are the perfect souvenirs to remember your vacation in Jaipur many years after!

You’ll find carpets, dyed fabrics, and brassware at Tripolia Bazaar. There are also rows and rows of the colorful lac bangles that are so iconically worn by Indian women!

Finally, head to Chandpole Bazaar. It continues its long history of selling sculptures made from marble, wood or stone. The marble carvings are particularly gorgeous!

5.00 pm- Monkey Temple

The Monkey Temple, or Galta Ji Temple, is a temple dedicated to Hanuman, the Hindu monkey god.  Aside from being popular with tourists, the temple complex is still a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindu devotees

There are actually a series of temples to explore here and taking them all on will take you a few hours. It is a must-see in Jaipur in 3 days.

Take a Tuk Tuk to the bottom of the hill. Your driver will wait around if you pay him for his time and this may be the easiest and safest opinion.

Then you walk up the temple and make your way up the winding pathways to the summit. The monkeys are absolutely everywhere, watch your valuables and do not get too close to them as they can become aggressive.

The view from the top is great and it is a great spot from where to take in the sun-set. Bring a torch as making your way down after dark can be a bit tricky.

7.00 pm – Dinner at Arya Niwaz

Arya Niwaz is an (expensive) Jaipur hotel that has an excellent, well-priced restaurant that is open to the public. It offers some of the best traditional vegetarian food in Jaipur and the menu format allows you to try multiple options. I recommend the Bindi (Okra) and Aubergine dishes. The salads are also decent and are washed in mineral water.

They don’t allow alcohol to be consumed on the premises but if you sit in the garden nobody is exactly watching you…

Zostel Jaipur

07:30 am – Amer Fort

The best way to get here is to hire a Tuk Tuk for half day. He will drive you here, wait for you, can then stop by the Jal Mahal on the return leg and drop you either at your hotel or at our lunch spot.

The Fort itself is big with a number of different sections, It does get busy most days so get here EARLY. A guided tour is a good way to make the most of the fort.

Note that Tuk Tuk drivers will offer to take you textile stops on the way back from Amer Fort. If you are in the market for some, then do consider this but be mindful that they take you to their friends/cousins shop rather than the one that has the best wares. Personally I got an awesome shirt made via this method.

• How long should I stay here?
• Getting there –   It’s an hours drive from the centre of Jaipur. Hire a driver for half a day.

12.00 pm – Anokhi Museum of Hand Block Printing

Block printing is a proper Rajasthani tradition and some of the best block print work in the whole world is still done in Jaipur. If you are visiting Jaipur for the first time then you will certainly notice the blocks and fabrics on sale around you.

The Anokhi Museum is the stunning result of a true labor of love. It was founded by an Indian family and remains a privately-owned, small organization.

Anokhi is dedicated to preserving and promoting the threatened local hand block printing industry, and we think it’s doing a fabulous job.

There’s a small collection of historical textiles that help document the  evolution of hand block printing  in India. The focus, however, is on contemporary hand block printing from the 1960s to the present day.

There’s a rich permanent collection of clothing, raw fabrics and home furnishings that showcases the many varied patterns that these artisans have created in the last 60 years! This is accompanied by a photographic collection and items from the production process.

Learning about the different kinds of dyes (from natural to chemical processes) and tools (including brass and wooden blocks, as well as carving tools) is really an interesting experience to add to your Jaipur itinerary! The Anokhi Museum also hosts various temporary exhibitions. These might explore unique kinds of bedding from a small village or the use of traditional techniques in more contemporary styles of clothing. Don’t miss out!

• Getting there  –  Its en route back from Amer Fort

1.00 pm – Jal Mahal

Rising out of a body of glimmering water, Jal Mahal, or the Water Palace, has to be one of the most serene Jaipur points of interest! It was constructed at the end of the 18th century as a hunting lodge and was later renovated into the elegant palace we see today.

You can stop off here on the way back from Amer Fort and get your photo ops. Now, the Jal Mahal is also particularly beautiful at sunset but unfortunately, the sun doesn’t usually set at midday. Sorry about that bt this itinerary has to run on a schedule!

You’re probably wondering how a palace just “floats” on a lake and that’s a valid question! Firstly, you only see one level of the palace from above ground; below the water are a further four stories! When the palace was built, it wasn’t surrounded by a lake as the area was experiencing a severe drought.

To preserve the palace when the drought passed, the palace’s pink sandstone walls were coated in special lime mortar to prevent water seeping into the monument. Note that access to the Palace is by special request and private tour only.

• Getting there  –   It’s a 12 minute ride from the block museum

2.30 pm – Late Lunch at Anokhi

Anokhi is one of my favorite lunch spots in Jaipur. Located near Haveli & Sanjay Marg and set in a peaceful garden environment, they specialize in creating and serving up delicious, healthy, modern fusion foods. Dishes here include semolina pasta and vegetarian sushi. They also have a mega selection of tea, do great coffee, and filling cakes!

Prices are high for Jaipuri standards but don’t trouble most westerner budgets to be honest.

4.00 pm – Gem Palace

Keeping with the theme of Jaipuri industries next up is a trip to the cities leading gem emporium (or gemporium…)

A veritable treasure trove, the Gem Palace is one of the best places to visit in Jaipur in 3 days! It’s home to both antique and modern jewelry that’s been in hot demand since the mid-19th century. If you’re shopping, be prepared to fork out your money but rest assured that the quality is unbeatable.

The store is owned by the Kasliwal family who first gained fame as court jewelers to the maharajas of India. The skilled jewelers and gem cutters passed their skills down to the present generation who have also brought in Western influences.

5.30 pm – Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh Fort’s walls are visible from many parts of Jaipur so it would be rude not to visit.

The story goes that while the fort was being built, strange things started happening. Each day the workers would come to work to find the previous day’s work destroyed.

The ruling Maharaja investigated and found that the land was haunted by the spirit of a tiger! To placate the tiger, a shrine to it was built and the fort was named after him: Nahargarh, meaning “abode of the tiger”!

Before you get lost in the wonders of  Nahargarh Fort itself , appreciate the fantastic views of Jaipur and the countryside that the hilltop location affords!

The fort was constructed in 1734 and you can still see the original 1km-long walls. Many of the other original structures have been destroyed. The highlight of the fort is the palace which dates from the late 19th century when it was used by Madho Singh II to keep his favorite concubines away from the disapproval of his officials and wives!

This is a very popular spot for Bollywood, music video & Instagram shoots. I’m not sure the Tiger spirit would approve.

Stash your cash safely with this money belt. It will keep your valuables safely concealed, no matter where you go.

It looks exactly like a normal belt  except for a SECRET interior pocket perfectly designed to hide a wad of cash, a passport photocopy or anything else you may wish to hide. Never get caught with your pants down again! (Unless you want to…)

When deciding when to visit Jaipur, the weather is the most important factor to keep in mind. Summers are incredibly hot, with temperatures reaching as high as 45 °C/113 °F. The added burden of dust and pollution makes summer even more unbearable. If you do visit Jaipur during this time, make sure to choose hotels with air conditioning and to drink lots of water!

Winter (from October to March) is actually the best time to visit Jaipur. The weather is warm and dry during the day but some nights can be very chilly! This is actually peak season so book your accommodation as soon as possible if you’re busy planning a trip to Jaipur.

Between August and September is monsoon season. Rainfall ranges between mild and moderate, and floods are rare. However, it is quite humid during this time. Photographers, though, will find an advantage to going on a Jaipur tour during this time. The monuments are fresh from the recent showers and the colors are more vivid!

The only way to get around Jaipur is by motor vehicle. The city is not suitable for walking primarily because of the big distances between attractions. However, aside from this, walking even manageable distances is simply not fun. Pavements are shoddy, traffic fumes punishing and roads dangerous to cross. Personally, I would not ever consider cycling in Jaipur either as the traffic is simply far too dangerous.

Fortunately, Tuk Tuk’s, cabs, and Motor’s (bikes) are plentiful and cheap. Uber operates across the city and is a lot cheaper than hailing transport on the street. If you do hail one from the street, barter very hard.

The weather in Jaipur ranges from punishing heat, damp humidity in monsoon, and gets a bit cool in winter. Packing for India can be a challenge as the environment and weather changes depending on where you are. In the warmer months, pack loose, thin clothes but remember to dress modestly to avoid unwanted attention. This is the mother of all Jaipur travel tips!

Bring a water bottle, hand sanitizer, diarrhea medication, and paracetamol in case Delhi Belly/Gandi’s revenge strikes.

Jaipur isn’t an especially dangerous city but you will need your wits about you. One of the more unusual safety hazards you may encounter on your Jaipur tour is monkeys!  Hold tight to your possessions as they’re notorious for grabbing. Monkey bites can transmit disease so keep your distance. Other than that;

• Take care when crossing roads.
• Pickpocketing does happen in crowded areas so be wary.
• Scams on foreigners are common all across India. There are far too many to list so as a rule, be just a bit wary of everybody.
• India has a bad reputation for overall sanitation which is semi-justified. Avoid tap water, bring hand sanitizer and only eat hot street food.
• Women travelers should take extra care. Dress modestly, avoid quiet, dark areas, and do not accept drinks from strangers.

The city of palaces and forts, interspersed with historical monuments and gardens that testify the grandeur of the Rajput kings, Jaipur is the gateway to the royal heritage of India. Also called Pink City, the capital of Rajasthan, remains suspended in time, with its heritage preserved in the overwhelming Hawa Mahal that gazes down at the bustling streets of Johari Bazaar.

A little away from the city centre, which is resplendent with state-of-the-art cinemas/ movie theatres, eateries, multiplexes, museums and parks, lies the arid hilly country dotted with forts that earlier stood as armoured sentinels of Jaipur. The biggest and the most awe-inspiring is the Amber Fort, which leaves one humbled with its expansive fortifications and grandeur.

Founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II in 1727 AD, Jaipur was the stronghold of the Rajputs, who gave it its everlasting legacy in the form of various heritage sites, arts and crafts, culinary curations etc. Typical Rajasthani cuisine, comprising lal maas, dal-bati-churma, ker sangri and other uncountable recipes, all hold limelight in the culinary culture of India. These can be enjoyed in the quintessential Rajasthani style of sitting cross-legged on mats on the floor and digging in in the sumptuous thali, which features up to 20 dishes.

While one can enjoy the various offerings of the city as an outsider, what really sets Jaipur apart is its welcoming spirit that wins you over with its warmth. To symbolise this hospitable culture, the older part of the city was painted pink under the reign of Maharaja Ram Singh in 1876. Although this was done during the British rule when the Prince of Wales came to visit India, many houses are still adorned with the hue to reiterate their signature slogan of 'Padharo Mhare Desh' (Welcome to my Land).

Jaipur was designed by architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya in the early 18th century. Through the years it has transformed into a bustling metropolis while continuing to retain its old-world charm. Following India's independence from British rule, Jaipur and the principalities of Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur came together to form the present state of Rajasthan. Jaipur has a well-connected airport with daily flights to and from Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Udaipur, Jodhpur, among others. Also known as Sanganer Airport, the international terminal operates flights to and from Dubai.

Jaipur can be reached via the extensive state and national highways of India. Delhi is 260 km away. Buses, AC and non-AC, ply from all major cities of Rajasthan.

Trains from major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Agra etc. go to Jaipur. There is also trains running between Jaipur and Udaipur, Bikaner and Jodhpur.

Traveling to Rajasthan and looking for the best places to visit in Jaipur? These are the most iconic and must-see spots in the Pink City that you won’t want to miss!

There are so many incredible places to visit in Jaipur! It’s a city famous for its royal heritage and rich culture. If you’re traveling to Rajasthan, then you’ll definitely want to spend a few days exploring Jaipur.

This list features some of the most well-known places in Jaipur that are must-see spots for travelers. From massive forts, majestic palaces, museums, shopping and more, there’s honestly so much to do.

Jaipur is one of the cities along the Golden Triangle, a popular route for tourists in India. The Golden Triangle includes Delhi, Agra (home of the Taj Mahal) and Jaipur. Jaipur is an amazing city to explore with beautiful architecture and impressive history.

I traveled to Jaipur for the first time in 2017 when my family came to visit me after I moved to India. It was the perfect place to showcase the rich culture and they absolutely loved the trip! It’s a city I’d highly recommend if you’re traveling to India for the first time.

This post is divided into two sections: the top 10 iconic places and then 9 other noteworthy places to visit in Jaipur! The 10 are an absolute must-see, and if you have the time I would highly recommend the rest!

Top 10 Places to Visit in Jaipur

These first 10 places to visit in Jaipur are an absolute MUST! If you have more time in the Pink City, keep reading for more interesting stops you can make during your trip.

#1 Amer Fort

Amer Fort (also called Amber Fort) is one of the most iconic places to visit in Jaipur, and it’s impressive! The fort is actually on the outskirts of Jaipur, about 30 minutes from the city center. It’s a massive palace and fort which you can spend half a day/one day exploring around.

Amer Fort was built in the 16th century and one of the reasons it’s so famous is because of the architecture. It’s a mix of Hindu and Mughal styles with a lot of detailed marble work and carvings. There’s also beautiful gardens, courtyards, and cute pathways and gates as you walk through the area.

Two of the top-see places in the fort include the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) which famously has walls and the ceiling all covered in mirrors, and the Diwan-e-Aam where the king used to address the public and ministers.

They have a light and sound show in the evenings which I’d highly recommend. It’s a beautiful way to see Amer Fort and it also tells the history. During the day, you’ll find a lot of people offering elephant rides up to the fort which I have never personally done, but it was popular for tourists, so could be perfect for you if you’re interested!

#2 The Royal Gaitor Tumbas (The Royal Cemetery)

The Royal Gaitor Tumbas is a royal cemetery near Nahargarh Fort (another famous fort in Jaipur, more info on that later). This is one of the lesser known places to visit in Jaipur but it’s a really beautiful place to stop. 

It serves as the final resting place for members of the royal family of Jaipur. While not all the bodies are buried here, there are memorials for the various royals.

Each memorial has a beautiful little garden and marble and sandstone detailed carvings. The memorial of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II is the most famous because of its white marble intricate designs.

Overall, this is a really peaceful and serene space. It can be a quick stop where you can enjoy the beautiful architecture and a little break from the hustle of the city.

#3 Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds

The Hawa Mahal is another one of those iconic places to visit in Jaipur. If you search for pictures of Jaipur, this is likely one of the first first structures you’ll see. It’s a tall, five story pyramid shaped palace with pink and red sandstone (remember, Jaipur is famously called the Pink City!). 

There are 953 small windows with intricate details which is why it’s nicknamed Palace of Winds, and was meant to help cool and ventilate the building since summers get so hot. The design was also meant to allow royal ladies to see street festivals from the palace without being seen from the outside.

There’s a museum on the inside with artifacts and handicrafts. There’s a lot of domes and floral patterns in the architecture, but to be honest it’s not quite as elaborate as the outside looks. It’s still worth going into though because you can climb to the rooftop and get a beautiful panoramic view over the city!

#4 Jantar Mantar

The Jantar Mantar is right next to the Hawa Mahal and is an astronomical observatory built in the 18th century. Today it’s recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the impressive architectural designs and advanced astronomical skills it represents.

I don’t know much about astronomy, but I have to admit I can be a bit nerdy and love to learn about it when I can! This was one of my favorite places to visit in Jaipur because it was a really unique experience and somewhat mind-blowing that they had such a deep understanding of these things back then.

There are 19 astronomical instruments made from stone and marble which were designed to see celestial bodies with the naked eye. They are renowned for their accuracy and can do things like measure time, track stars and planets, predict eclipses, and many other things which are beyond my understanding!

One of the most famous instruments is the Samrat Yantra which is a giant sundial that can tell the time with an accuracy of about 2 seconds. You can take a guided tour here if you’re interested in learning more about the instruments and significance of astronomy in the culture. Otherwise you can explore on your own and you’ll get to see the instruments up close.

#5 City Palace

The City Palace in Jaipur is a huge complex that was built in the 18th century. It’s also situated right next to the Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal. In case you weren’t aware, Rajasthan is famously known as the land of kings (raja actually means king), and the whole state is known for have a rich royal history.

The City Palace has many various buildings, courtyards and galleries. Part of it still even serves as the current royal residence. The architecture across the whole palace is really remarkable and intricate. There’s a lot of beautiful gardens to walk around as well and it’s a beautiful place to explore.

Some of the best places to see in City Palace include the Mubarak Mahal, which is now a textile museum that shows royal costumes and fabrics that Rajasthan is famous for. There’s also the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum which showcases a lot of art like paintings, textiles and is more about the cultural history of the region.

Two other parts which played an important role historically are the Diwan-i-Khas and the Diwan-i-Aam. The Diwan-i-Khas is famous for its rich and elaborate decor and the Diwan-i-Aam actually houses two of the world’s largest silver vessels recognized by the Guinness World Records!

The Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and City Palace are all right next to each other on the same block, so you can take a day and see all three things in one trip then explore around the Old City.

#6 Albert Hall Museum

Albert Hall Museum is a beautiful place to walk around and learn about the history of Rajasthan. It’s one of the oldest museums in the state and was made in the late 19th century. The architecture is unique because it’s a mix of Indian, Mughal and British styles, and it’s very eye-catching and detailed!

The Museum was intended to be a way to showcase the art of Jaipur and promote local artisans. There’s a huge collection of artifacts like paintings, carpets, sculptures, crystal works, pottery and wood work, and much more. 

It’s a nicely organized and well maintained museum, and is a great place to get a deeper look into the art, culture and history. They also have some exhibits that feature artifacts from other parts of the world. One of the most unique things in the museum is the collection of Egyptian mummies which seems a little random but still very cool!

It’s also the perfect spot for anyone looking to take nice photography in Jaipur. The structures are stunning and even at night they light up the museum in a really beautiful way to highlight the architecture.

#7 Jal Mahal, the Water Palace

Jal Mahal translates to “Water Palace” which is a perfect name because it’s situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. The architecture is beautiful and what’s more eye-catching is that the palace gets almost entirely submerged by water when the lake rises. 

Originally it was built to be a lodge for duck hunting in the 18th century. Nowadays, it’s been renovated and is a testament to Rajasthani architecture. The picturesque scene is so unique and perfect for photography, which explains why this is one of the most iconic places to visit in Jaipur.

You can’t enter the palace, but you can view it from the banks of the lake. The area around it has been beautifully maintained with gardens and cute pathways. It’s the perfect place for a walk and to see some of the migratory birds that come!

#8 Jaigarh Fort and Nahargarh Fort

These are two separate forts which are about 15 minutes apart by car. Nahargarh Fort is on the outskirts of the city leading to Jaigarh Fort, which is next to Amer Fort. Personally, unless you have a deeper interest in exploring forts or have a lot of time to explore Jaipur, I think just seeing Amer Fort is sufficient so hence I’ve combined these two.

Jaigarh Fort was actually built to protect Amer Fort and the Amer Palace. It’s known as the Fort of Victory because it’s never been conquered. It’s also famous because it holds the world’s largest cannon on wheels. More than being a beautifully and intricately designed fort like many of the other places in Jaipur, the focus here was on strength and resilience. 

There’s a museum you can explore and it also offers amazing panoramic views of the surrounding natural landscape and Amer Fort.

Nahargarh Fort is well-known for its stunning views of Jaipur. Several famous Indian movies have been shot here and it’s a particularly beautiful place to watch the sunset over the city. The fort is also home to the Madhavendra Bhawan which is a summer destination for the royals.

#9 Galta Ji, the Monkey Temple

Galta Ji is a beautiful space nearing the outskirts of the city among the Aravalli Hills. It’s known as the Monkey Temple because there are a LOT of monkeys that reside in the area and roam around the temple. Honestly, I was scared of them when I went because they are not afraid to come and take your things. But I would still regard it as one of the most memorable places to visit in Jaipur!

Galta Ji is home to various temples and is an ancient Hindu pilgrimage site. Hindu ascetics have been retreating here since the early 1500s and it’s famous for its natural water springs and sacred kunds (water tanks). The main temple is dedicated to the sun god, Surya.

Many people believe that dipping in the kunds can wash away your sins and it attracts a lot of visitors during the Makar Sankranti festival in January. One of the most famous is the Galta Kund. It’s considered the most sacred spot in the area because it never runs dry of water. We never saw anyone ever bathing in the water when I’ve gone, but it was still beautiful to see.

Apart from the temples and water inside the area, it’s also beautiful for its natural surroundings. You can get panoramic views of the city and countryside. The architecture is beautiful and the monkeys also add some excitement, especially if you’re into photography!

#10 Jaipur Shopping: Johari Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar, Tripolia Bazaar, Chandpole Bazaar

There are so many places you can go shopping in Jaipur, but these are some of the most popular bazaars for travelers to visit. Perfect for buying souvenirs or gifts for family and friends back home!

Johari Bazaar – Known for jewelry and stones. It’s the best place to find traditional Rajasthani jewelry! You can also find nice embroidered sarees and lehengas (traditional Indian clothes).

Bapu Bazaar – Famous for its leather products, textiles and handicrafts. You can get the famous Rajasthani juttis (footwear) here!

Tripolia Bazaar – Perfect place to shop for bangles, brassware or other traditional wear. You can find a lot of jewelry and beautifully dyed fabrics here.

Chandpole Bazaar – Known for handicrafts, marble carvings and Rajasthani furniture. It’s a market full of artisans and is beautiful even just to walk around.

As mentioned, those were the top and most iconic must-see places to visit in Jaipur. But there’s actually still so many other places worth seeing! If you have the extra time, I’d recommend checking out these spots as well.

#11 Sisodia Rani Garden and Palace

It’s a beautiful palace with impressive multi-level gardens, fountains and pavilions.

#12 Birla Mandir

Birla Mandir is a stunning white marble Hindu temple famous for its modern architecture.

#13 Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing

Situated near Amer Fort, it’s a museum that showcases traditional block printing art, textile, tools and techniques.

#14 Rambagh Palace

Rambagh Palace used to be the residence for the King of Jaipur. Now, it’s a luxurious heritage hotel which is incredible just to walk around in.

#15 Diggi Palace

This is another old royal residence turned into a heritage hotel. It’s famous because it hosts the annual Jaipur Literature Festival so it brings in a lot of literary enthusiasts worldwide.

#16 Govind Dev Ji Temple

It’s a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. Thousands of people visit each day to participate in the daily aartis (prayers).

#17 Elefantastic

You have to make an appointment at the office, but then they can take you to a really nice elephant sanctuary. The elephants are really looked after and loved. It’s also a great place to visit in Jaipur for families and kids.

#18 Panna Meena ka Kund

A picturesque water step-well near Amer Palace. It makes for a great photo and is cool to see for a quick stop.

#19 World Trade Park

This is a big, upscale mall with lots of nice stores, food options and a cinema. It’s a lot like modern western malls.

A trip to India, for any traveler, is completely incomplete without visiting Jaipur. If you have not enjoyed the glory and unique hospitability of Rajasthan, then your visit to India is certainly incomplete. Jaipur , the capital of Rajasthan and popularly known as Pink City in the world, attracts tourists from not only from India but from all over the world.

In this article, I will mention 9 best and absolutely stunning places to visit in Jaipur , which every traveler must include in their list while coming to Jaipur. Believe me, these are the places that awed me to the core. And I firmly believe that you too will feel something unique in such places.

Perhaps, Rajasthan state is the most Instagrammed place all over the world from India. So if you are someone who loves to drool over clicking amazing pics for Instagram or personal uses, this is your call.

Major markets.

This palace is revealing its identity by name. This palace, with no foundation and more than 950 ventilators, is the hallmark of Jaipur. Due to the prevalence of the Purdah system, royal Rajput women could not see the daily commotion outside. It was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh for the purpose that the royal women could observe the outer movement along with the practice.

When viewed from outside, it looks like the crown of Hindu God Lord Krishna and the beehive. It is also referred by names Wind Palace or Breeze Palace other than the local name, Hawa Mahal .

City Palace

The City Palace located near Hawa Mahal has its own status. Built in Rajput and Mughal style architecture, this building left me speechless. The systematic combination of the smallest artistry and the variety of colors attracts everyone. The credit for this palace, mainly built to welcome special guests, goes to Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

Currently, it has been converted into a museum where ivory swords, chain weapons, guns, pistols, cannons, poison tip blades, and gun powder pouches are also placed for display.

Albert Hall Museum

The Albert Hall Museum, built in the Indo gothic style, is the oldest and largest museum in Rajasthan, which was built by Maharaja Ramsingh to welcome Prince Albert Hall of Wales. It was later converted into a museum in 1887 following the king’s orders.

Inside it is a collection of metal art, pottery, weapons, armor, marble art, miniature paintings, jewelry, antique silver, and copper coins.

Apart from this, ivory, precious stones, colorful Rajasthani costumes, sculptures, musical instruments, etc. are also present. You can see and feel the glimpses and traditions of the Rajasthani culture here.

Located at a distance of 11 km from the main city, Amer Fort or Amber Fort is a major attraction of Jaipur included in the list of World Heritage. Made of red sandstone and marble, this fort has four floors. There are separate courtyards on each floor. This fort is known for its artistic Hindu Rajput architecture.

This fort includes Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal (Darpan Mahal), Jai Mandir and Sukh Niwas where the air through the water in the fort becomes artificially cooled when it enters. It was once the capital of Rajputs. A tunnel is connected to the Jaigad Fort near it.

• Know the places located in the fort and admire the Aravalli ranges.

Light and Sound Show of Amer Fort is one of the things that you shouldn’t miss. It is available in both English and Hindi language for approximately 300 rupees.

Jaigarh Fort

You will be surprised to know that the world’s largest cannon on wheels is inside this fort. This cannon, known as Javon Cannon, is the main attraction here. With a diameter of 10 meters and a barrel of 20 feet, this cannon weighs 50 tons.

 It is also said that Jaigarh Fort is the strongest fort in Jaipur. Since it could not be conquered by any king, it is called an invincible fort . The place where this fort is located is known as the hummock of the eagle.

• The city of Jaipur, Maota Lake and the Aravalli Range can be seen clearly from above.
• Experience the largest canon on wheels.
• There are some temples too, you can go there.

Nahargarh Fort

There is another huge fort near Jaigarh, which is known as Nahargarh. It was also constructed to provide security. The fort is called the “ abode of lions ” as it was common to find lions on its hills at those times.

The Nahargarh Fort is at an altitude of 700 feet, from where one can get a beautiful and wide view of the city which also gives you an opportunity to click some mind-bending shots. This fort was also never attacked. It was built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

• Visit the organic park inside the fort.
• Look at historical and adorable sculptures.
• There is also an option for trekking and cycling.

I watched the Jal Mahal (Palace in Waters) in movies many times in my childhood and wondered how it is possible to have an underwater palace. But when I saw it, then the eyes convinced me. This palace situated on the way to Amer is a form of natural beauty. At those times it was used to be some summer resort of Maharajas, where kings used to come to spend some good time.

It’s an ideal place to spend an evening with the family. The hills behind it and the small market on the roadside in front of it, give it a more beautiful appearance. If you are a bird lover then this is a perfect place for photography.

There is no ticket. Opening time – 6 am to 6 pm

• Sitting on the shore, cold air and admire its beauty.
• You can shop for some local items in the nearby market.
• Listen to the cacophony of birds and see.
• Do photography

Sisodia Rani’s Garden

At around 5 in the evening, I reached Sisodia Gardens, situated in the lap of the hills. Surrounded by mountains from every side, lush with greenery and its pleasant and cool atmosphere made my day-long fatigue disappear. I remember when I was seated on a chair in the middle of the garden and the sound of sweet Rajasthani songs was soothing my ears. It was a really sweet evening.

Located 10 km from the city, near the Agra Jaipur Highway, this garden was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh Ji for his queen. It is said that the queen used to spend some precious moments with her friends here.

Birla Mandir (Laxmi Narayan Temple)

Our day ended with a vision of God. While returning from Sisodia Rani Bagh, we visited this temple. It is built of white marble in the Pink City, which fascinated me. The Birla Temple is also known as the Lakshmi Narayan Temple because the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Narayana) his wife Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth.

Today the place where the Birla temple is located in Jaipur was given to Birla by the Maharaj in Jaipur as a token amount of rupees one. The Birla Temple of Jaipur is quite famous for its intricate carvings and fine work. Tourists coming here are fascinated by the beauty of this temple.

No fee. Opening time – 6 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 9 pm

• Look at the carvings of the temple.
• Join the Darshan of God and Vishal Aarti.
• It is pleasant to see its brightness in the light of the moon.

Note that cameras, wallets, mobile phones aren’t allowed inside. They have a proper facility to submit them at the gate.

Other Places to Visit

Galta ji temple.

Surrounded by the Aravalli hills, this temple is made of pink stones. It is said that Saint Galav did meditate (tapasya) here for 100 years, due to which he got a boon that this place would be revered. The water of its pool is considered sacred.

Chokhi Dhani

This luxury heritage resort spread over 10 acres gives you a feel of the Rajasthani village culture. The food, clothing, lifestyle, artifacts, crafts, paintings, sculptures, folklore, various dances, singing, and many other traditional aspects make Chokhi Dhani extremely special.

If you want to take some local artifacts & souvenirs, then definitely go to Tripolia, Johri and Bapu Bazaar.

When and How to Reach?

Rajasthan is a hot state , so I would recommend going in the winter season (November – February). Although, it can be visited throughout the year if you love challenges.

Distance from the country’s capital Delhi to Jaipur is 270 km and distance from Agra is 237 km. Apart from private buses, State Transport Corporation buses also operate at frequent intervals.

Being a famous tourist center, Jaipur is connected by rail to all corners of the country. Jaipur has three main stations – Gandhinagar, Durgapura and Jaipur Junction.

A royal train called “Palace on Wheels” also runs from Delhi , which takes a week to visit the main places of Rajasthan. The train connects cities like Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, and Agra.

Sanganer Airport of Jaipur from where national and international flights take place is 8 km from the main city. This city is well connected to some of the cities abroad.

Where to stay?

Accommodation is never a problem in Jaipur city. You can find the most affordable yet best options here . However, do note that in peak seasons, like in New Year, Diwali, etc prices get a spike in its prices. So it’s recommended to book ahead of your arrival.

If you’re a solo traveler and/or backpacker you might love hostels over hotels. Jaipur also has some of the country’s best hostel chains operating here. Above all, we recommend booking Zostel Jaipur as Zostel never disappointed us in our career of travel.

This time I tried something different. As Zostel was already sold out, I took it as an excuse to try out another hostel in Jaipur. To my surprise, the hostel I booked had exceeded my expectations. Look at these pics:

We stayed in Chillout Hostel in Jaipur and above all pics are of this hostel. We opted for shared rooms and in that they gave us huge Rajasthani styled ‘khats’ – khats are four legged furniture like bed made with ropes and wood.

My Experience

It is difficult to describe in words what I felt myself while visiting Jaipur city. I have kept many memories and experiences. You must visit Rajasthan once in your lifetime. Believe it, the culture, hospitality, splendor and cherished heritage here will make you come here again.

I too could not experience many places in the journey. Culture is sitting here in every particle and I’d surely come back again to relish my memories.

An appeal – please do not throw garbage around. Use dustbin and if you can’t find a dustbin, take the trash with you and throw it where the trash appears. Your small initiative can make India clean and green.

The pink city Jaipur is my home place . I love each and every corner of the city

The entire travel guide to Jaipur has to be your blog itself. I am in awe with the pictures, these are so instagrammable.

I have been to Jaipur quite a few times, last was six months back and I visited most of these places back then. Memories refreshed, it was an amazing trip, the city has so much to offer.

I have been to the pink city so many times. Love every corner of this city.
